Dislodged Cell Essay
Dislodged cells undergo a Special type of cell death named anoikis based on loss of cell matrix
interaction mediated by intrinsic and extrinsic apoptotic pathway. In intrinsic pathway after cell ECM
detachment, BH3 only proteins (Bim and Bid) stimulate Bax and Bak pro apoptotic proteins
oligomerization and pore creation in mitochondrial outer membrane. Because of these pores,
cytochrome C and SMAC/DIABLO proteins will be release from mitochondria into the cytosol.
Ultimately apoptosome complex formation induces executioner caspase activation and proteolysis.

Also in oxidative stress, inducing ATG proteins expression through PERK (Protein kinase RNA like
endoplasmic reticulum kinase) activate canonical autophagy. DUE TO the activation of these proteins
autophagy begins, (and consequently or so) sustains the required energy of the cell. Another
temporary saving strategy in physiological condition is Provisional disengagement occurs during cell
migration. Cells take a different type of motility style in their transient displacement like
Mesenchymal and amoeboid movement. Motile cells with Mesenchymal form exhibit pro survival
signals activation. In amoeboid motile cells interaction with ECM does not require for movement and
survival and they suppress anoikis by using cytokine and growth factor instead of ECM proteins.
Acquisition of the Mesenchymal phenotype is functionally associated with the ability to overcome
anoikis /another process involved in anoikis resistance is EMT which is an essential feature that
allows epithelial cells participate in physiological process like embryogenesis. EMT in cancer cells /

Herman Melville Research Paper

American Literature
Herman Melville Progress is key to living life, but if one is advancing through life with the motivation
of revenge, then, in actuality, he or she is truly regressing. Revenge is an extremely corruptive trait. It
causes people to do uncharacteristic things that normally would not be done. The perception of right
and wrong is blurred and one takes inadvertent actions that may cost friendships, possessions, and
even lives. Revenge is often a major motivating factor in the characters that are in the works written
during the Dark Romanticism period. One of the most celebrated and influential American authors in
history, Herman Melville, was born on August 1, 1819; his reputation was not quite ... Show more

On September 28, 1891 just after midnight, Melville suffered a heart attack and died, leaving Billy
Budd in manuscript (Rollyson xxiv). Billy Budd was published posthumously. Moby Dick is
considered to be one of, if not the, best novels in American history. Harper amp; Brothers first
published it in 1851 in New York. In England, it was published in the same year under the title, The
Whale ( Moby Dick ). Melville explores topics and themes that were scarcely spoken of and never
even seen in a novel. In the novel, the Pequod, which is the ship, is named after a Native American
tribe that was exterminated when the white settlers arrived. It is a symbol of death and doom and
foreshadows event that occur later in the novel. Melville brings some very controversial themes to
light in the novel. Revenge is one of the main themes of Dark Romanticism and Melville uses it to
drive every action taken by Ahab. This is seen early on in the novel as Ahab explains to the crew why
he has a peg leg and that he wants to enact his revenge on Moby Dick (Melville 160 161). Moby Dick
is, fundamentally, a revenge tragedy. It s about one man s maniacal obsession with vengeance. It s
about finding an object on which to pin all you anger and fear and rage, not only about your own
suffering, but also about the suffering of all mankind ( Moby

Women s Pain Perception in Childbirth
This is a study that focused on eighty three women and examined the effects of cultural and
educational influences on the pain in childbirth. The eighty three women are divided into Middle
Eastern women and Western women. The women ranged in ages from nineteen to thirty eight. There
were thirty people from the Western group and that consisted of women whose mothers were born in
Europe, the US or another English speaking country. There were fifty three women from the Middle
Eastern Group and that consisted of women whose mothers were born in Asia, North African or
another Middle Eastern countries. The women were classified by the cultures but were also classified
by their level education. Those who had twelve years or less of schooling were in the low education
group. Those women who had more than twelve years of schooling were in the high education group.
In the Western group sixty six percent were in the high education group. While the Middle Eastern
group only had thirty three point nine percent in the high education group. In order to perform this
study they recorded their information they received from the procedure. The four measures were pain
perception, behavioral ratings, extroversion and the Miller Behavioral Style Scale. Pain perception is a
scale ranged from zero to one hundred that is used to rate the labor pains. Behavioral ratings were
used based on Meisles Iticksohn and was rated from zero to four. A zero meant that no behavior was
observed and a four meant

Comparing The Media Techniques Used to Present the D Day Landings in the Longest Day and
Saving Private Ryan
The heroism and bravery of those who took part in the D Day has been brought to the big screen from
several perspectives. 1939 1945 were some of the most horrific times in the broad spectrum of human
conflict ever seen by mankind with unmatched weapons of devastation and the senseless slaughter of
millions of lives both on and off the fields of battle. The Longest Day (1962) is a brilliant rendition of
the famous D Day invasion of Normandy. The film is quite accurate, depicting the perspectives of all
sides of the war involved in the event. Multiple viewpoints give the film an objective feel, as ... Show

One scene in SPR reinforces how death takes its time. One soldier had his arm blown off, then stoops
down to pick it up. Spielberg has managed to give us a clearer indication of war merely by using the
latest technology available to him.
Camera techniques are imperative to each film. By using different techniques, the director can create
various moods, or change our perception on the whole film. We would expect the techniques in Saving
Private Ryan to be more sophisticated, as it is quite a modern film. The Longest Day is filmed and
edited in a way, which uses the panning shot so it is edited quite slowly. The camera is placed to show
as much action as possible. Zanuck has used the panning and aerial shots to illustrate a large scale
action, without much personal involvement. It is more respectful as it leaves out much dwelling on
physical violence of war where in contrast, Spielberg exposes war as it is in the sense that there is a
high level of violence and death. In the Longest Day, when the soldiers are running across the beach,
the camera moves along with them. The camera also flicks close up to the allies. The Americans are
portrayed as being faultless while the Germans are revealed as being

A Gaping Hole On Generations
A Gaping Hole in Generations No Dad its CRTL + ALT + Delete not Escape a hundred times. No don

teach my older family how to live today than they taught me how to live. They taught me the basics
but they just do not get how to live in the modern world. Most of this is because of the generation gap
as explained in Nancy Gibbs article Generation Next. I hugely agree that the generation gap is at an all
time high between my generation, the millennials, and that of my parents and grandparents. Young
Americans are forced to be more educated, they feel technology bridges a gap, and while still being
conventional the way they are conventional makes the gap even larger. Gibbs states Young Americans
are now more educated... and [yet] less likely to have a job than previous generations. I agree that
Millennials are certainly more educated then previous generations but as a result not having the right
education makes it difficult to find a job. My uncle, who is currently 82, was able to quite school in
eighth grade in order to find a job to help his father. When he was ready for a career he didn t need to
have a GED or high school diploma to become a pipefitter, he simply interviewed and then learned on
the job. Now not only is it required have some sort of official training in order to obtain a career, but
the job market is slightly smaller because machines are making doing

Why I Learned The Piano
As a thirteen year old I could only watch game shows for so long, and that day I could not take
anymore. I couldn t sit still and needed to hear more than Steve Harvey and the Family Feud theme
song, so I wandered into her sitting room that always felt a little warmer than the rest of the house.
Sometimes I would sit on the couch by the window and feel the sun s heat hit my face and watch the
cars drive by. Sometimes I played with her giant record player, but vases covered it that day, so I went
to her old piano. Dust covered sheet music and instruction books filled the bench of the piano. I
flipped through them and found songs I knew, and I became determined. That day I decided I wanted
to learn the piano. Every day at the same time I would go in her sitting room and practice, and every
day she would listen and tell me how good a job I was doing. Some days she would even come play
with me. Every day of that summer looked exactly the same: sleep in the morning on the couch, have
lunch with my mom, and play piano in the afternoon. It did change on some days when my
grandmother would take me to the Baskin Robins down the street, and we d get ice cream, but I d
always practice when we got back. I convinced myself I would become a great pianist, but my left
hand never did anything. It never moved the same way my right hand did, but my grandmother never
said anything about it, she always encouraged me, no matter how bad my playing actually sounded.
I lost my drive for piano

Mad Cow Disease Analysis
Bovine spongiform encephalopathy is the scientific name for the disease commonly referred to as mad
cow disease (MCD). (WebMD, LLC, 2015) MCD gets its name because when a cow has this disease it
stumbles around and even gets demented or mad. (Chris Woolston, 2015)
This disease effects the central nervous system, mainly the brain of an adult cow. An abnormal protein
called prion is thought to kill the brain cells and create small holes in the brain tissue. MCD is a
disease that progresses very slowly and is fatal. (WebMD, LLC, 2015). MCD has thought to spread
from one cow to another by them eating food that was made from meat and bone from a contaminated
cow carcasses. (Division of Communication and Consumer Affairs,Office of Communication, ... Show

in humans. These prions cause tiny holes that look like a sponge under a microscope. (Melissa Conrad

to heat, ultraviolet light, and radiation. Disinfectants that are usually used to kill viruses and bacteria
also do not work to kill prions. Even cooking the meat very well will not lower the risk of prions in

Information Systems For International Students
Since all of us in our group are international students and a few of us are in our first semester at
Swinburne, it was almost impossible for us to find an Information Systems Manager and would like to
thank Jason for leading us to Mr. Mim Saznus. We understand that we are required to draw a direct
correlation between what we ve learnt in lectures and textbooks and see if we could relate it to
challenges that Information Systems Managers face in the real world or see how much of a gap we
have between what we learn and what actually happens in the corporate world. We would like to
extrapolate inputs received from Mim during the interview in our research report and build on the
points that he has made.
Mr. Saznus was gracious enough to spare some time for an interview and we had a few great learnings
and insights into the Information Systems space. He isn t an Information Systems Manager however
has spent over 6 years in multiple industries very closely related to Information Systems and
Information Technology. Mim completed his Masters in Information Technology with a specialization
in Information Systems from our very own Swinburne University and is originally from Bangladesh.
He started his journey in the Information Technology space by working as a Solutions Analyst for the
largest telecommunications equipment maker in the world, Huawei Technologies for over 2 years and
then went on to pursue his Masters in Swinburne University. He was also a part of an internship

When Does Tim O Brien Tell The Truth Analysis
When we tell a story that really took place in the past, we are honestly telling the truth or a lie because
the memory is something that remind us about our past that we want to remember or is our brain lying
to us about our past by choosing what to keep or leave out our memories about our past to help
comfort us moving forward in life. Do you believe Tim O Brien made the book all the more genuine
by using story truth instead of happening truth ?
Happening truth is telling something reality that you went through in the past. It leaves no pictures in
your mind, you don t feel what the story teller experienced. It s an event that realistic happen. It
implies you are left with faceless responsibility and left with hopelessness with how he felt. Example

The Spin Of The Electron Essay
The spin of the electron is an intrinsic angular momentum that is separate from the angular momentum
due to its orbital motion. The magnitude of the projection of the electron s spin along an arbitrary axis
is, implying that the electron acts as a
Fermion by the spinstatistics theorem. Like orbital angular momentum, the spin has an associated
magnetic moment, the magnitude of which is expressed as.
 
3 q

2 m ( e )
In a solid the spins of many electrons can act together to affect the magnetic and electronic properties
of a material, for example endowing it with a permanent magnetic moment as in a ferromagnet.
In many materials, electron spins are equally present in both the up and the down state, and no
transport properties are dependent on spin. A spintronic device requires generation or manipulation of
a spinpolarized population of electrons, resulting in an excess of spin up or spin down electrons. The
polarization of any spin dependent property X can be written as.
P ( X ) 
X   X 
X   X 
A net spin polarization can be achieved either through creating an equilibrium energy split between
spin up and spin down. Methods include putting a material in a large magnetic field (Zeeman effect),
the exchange energy present in a ferromagnet or forcing the system out of equilibrium. The period of
time that sucha nonequilibrium population can be maintained is known as the spin lifetime.
In a diffusive conductor, a spin diffusion length can be defined as the distance over

The Duty Of Women In Medea By Euripides
The duty of women portrayed in Greek society is a major subject in Euripides Medea. In old Greek
society, ladies are delicate and compliant as per men, and their social position is viewed as
exceptionally mediocre. Feminism is the hypothesis of men being viewed different in contrast to
women and the male predominance over ladies in the public eye. Women s lives are spoken to by the
parts they either pick or have forced on them. This is obvious in the play Medea by Euripides through
the characters of Medea and the medical attendant. During the day and age which Medea is set ladies
have exceptionally restricted social power and no political power by any stretch of the imagination,
despite the fact that a ladies maternal and residential power was regarded in the protection of the
home, Our lives rely upon how his lordship feels. The constrained power these ladies were given is
diverse to present day society yet parts are as yet forced on ladies to acclimate and be a devoted
spouse. Ladies have dependably been dis engaged because of their sex in present day and antiquated
circumstances alike. In Corinth they are required to run the family unit and fit in with social desires of
an obedient spouse. Medea, being an eternal and relative from the divine beings has a specific power
in insight and guileful keenness. Being an outsider, Medea s wayward nonsensical conduct was
normal in this play as she was not conceived in Greece and was viewed as an exotic foreigner. She
goes over to the group of onlookers as an intense female character regarding viciousness. Some of
Medea s responses and decisions have all the earmarks of being made a huge deal about as creators for
the most part influence characters to appear to be overwhelming; this makes a superior comprehension
of the content and the issues which are produced through the characters. Medea s ill conceived
marriage and the double crossing of Jason drive Medea to outrageous vengeance. Medea acts with her
immortal self and confer coldhearted demonstrations of murder instead of legitimize the results of her
actions. Medea see s this choice as her lone resort as she has been exiled and has no place to go,
stripped of her place. To make sensitivity for Medea, Euripides

The Importance Of Fighting For Human Rights
When thinking about human rights is it really essential to defend and protect these rights? Mother
Jones, Gandhi, and Emma Watson found defending human rights essential. Emma Watson is a woman
who fought for women s rights, Gandhi fought for racial rights, and Mother Jones fought for workers
rights. These three people helped to enact change by becoming successful leaders, being brave, and
cared for people as they took a stand no matter what they thought could happen to them for standing
up.
Mother Jones is a persistent, brave, and successful person and truly cares about these workers and
their rights. For example Josephson states Mother Jones wanted the president to get Congress to pass a
law that would take children out of the mills, mines, and factories, and put them in school. This was
Mother Jones s motivation to fight for human rights and shows that she wants the best for these
children (as she is their benefactor), so she is willing to fight for these children. Josephson continues
with At first, police told the group they couldn t enter the city...Mother Jones invited the police to stay
for lunch. The children gathered around the cooking pot with their tin plates and cups. The policemen
smiled, talked kindly to them, and then allowed them to cross the bridge into Trenton. Mother Jones
knows she could be in danger if she tries to defy these officials, but she is courageous and persuades
the policemen to let her and her children in. This is also something

While there was so many different volcanos to choose from I chose the Calbuco volcano because it

Both of the eruptions were about the same, releasing lava into the air and a mushroom cloud of ash

Most people would seriously question on why so many people throughout the world live in the

from living so close to a volcano. One of the biggest reasons are the soils close to a volcano is full of
nutrients and minerals which keep the soil very fertile. This happens because of all of the lava and
rock that a volcano releases. This helps soil stay rich with nutrients and gives opportunities to grow

Fallen Art Short Film Themes
This short film criticizes war by showing us that war is bad in general, and violence is senseless.
Fallen Art who was directed by Tomasz Baginski showed three themes in his short film setting points
on why war is bad through three different characters. His first theme is the man in a higher power
uniform that s kicking the soldiers off the ladder who represents power in the military. Then the old
guy in a lab coat taking the pictures, represents the value of military life by taking pictures of the
soldiers once they land from the fall. Lastly the young fat guy towards the end of the film represents
war as entertainment by creating art through the pictures given to him by the old guy.
I believe the argument the director is trying to make through his film is that violence is senseless, and
we should take in consideration those who are willing to go into war knowing the risks, and the
endings it can lead to. We should not only worry about the lives that can be taken during the war, but
as well as the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

through the film.
In my opinion I agree with Baginski and the purpose of his short film, because we should value those
who are willing to put their lives on the line for our nation. We should be more aware, and
compassionate to those brave people. Not always are we going to be able to rely on the thought of
knowing there s always going to be more people who will volunteer. We should keep in mind our

My Dorm Room At The Pennsylvania State University
Staying cool is something we all strive to do when it is too hot, and vice versa when it is too cold.
Being to hot or too cold is an extreme nuisance in every day lives, but I d much rather be too cold than
too hot. It is quite simple to keep warm: either put on more layers of clothing or wrap yourself in a
blanket. To keep cool is another story; one could strip off layers of clothes until they are naked and
have no more layers to go, then they resort to a fan, which in turn is just blowing more hot air at them.
Coming to The Pennsylvania State University I was excited to learn, meet new people and have fun,
and I have been able to do most of those, however, it is sometimes difficult with the scalding oven that
is my dorm room. To help fix the problem that my fellow students and I are experiencing, I propose
that the university either install central air conditioning in all dorms, or, barring that, install air
conditioning units in dorm rooms, in order to allow students to get more sleep, better grades, and have
an overall better and healthier college experience. Sleeping for as long as you want! Sounds like
paradise, but it is quite unrealistic. Instead I would ask to sleep for as long as I could until my alarm
wakes me up for class. That should not be too much to ask for, nonetheless, it takes great effort on my
part to do the actual sleeping. It is hard enough to go to bed with thoughts of grades and of life little
stresses in general, but is remarkably difficult when

Life is Australia is very difficult for her. She barely finishes high school, she starts doing drugs, and

separation from the society for so long Marjane has difficulty fitting into society (Satrapi 268). She
has a more westernized culture and her old friends do not understand her anymore (270). I found it
interesting that Marjane could not relate to her home culture. She has difficulty with enculturation.
Enculturation is the process by which individuals learn and adapt to ways and manners of their
specific culture (Matsumoto and Juang 59). Since Marjane is separated from her family she did not
have contact with socialization and enculturation agents. socialization and enculturation agents are the

perspective. She sees the world through a westernized lense and has difficulty reverting back to her

Summary Of Cognitive Flexibility
The article I chose goes into detail about model known as Cognitive Flexibility and how it relates to
the spectrum of autism. The article explains this as an individual s ability to mentally be switch
between two or more concepts, or in other words, be able to effectively end a task and start a new one.
The topic is relevant to the lecture because we discussed brain activity in living and dead things, and
what autism stems from. The writer asks the question of what causes autism, eventually stating that
having a greater cognitive flexibility correlates with acquiring better reading skills as a child, which
would make the adult life and advanced years into more of a quality lifestyle. They hope to benefit

Buffalo Bills Wild West started to get big, they were making new shows all the time, just preforming
stories they had from war or making westerns as television would call it. Women and Indians were
able to act in these but they were not paid as highly as the other men. The show moved daily so all the

The Stonewall Riots Essay examples
Life for most homosexuals during the first half of the Twentieth century was one of hiding, being ever
so careful to not give away their true feelings and predilections. Although the 1920s saw a brief
moment of openness in American society, that was quickly destroyed with the progress of the Cold
War, and by default, that of McCarthyism. The homosexuals of the 50s felt the heavy weight of
medical prejudice, police harassment and church condemnation ... [and] were not able to challenge
these authorities. They were constantly battered, both physically and emotionally, by the society that

The founders greatly admired Martin Luther King s nonviolent methods in forcing integration and
attempted to emulate those principles in their struggle. The problem was not in their efforts, or
intentions, but the fact that their society was politically weak, garnering little support among the
homosexuals of that era. As the civil unrest of the 1960s continued to grow, with more radical and
leftist movements emerging, the Mattachine Society was viewed as traditional, conservative, and
unwilling to literally fight for the rights of their people. It was not uncommon for the New York Police
Department Morals Task Force to raid gay bars. In fact, during the two decades leading up to the
Stonewall Riots, the raids were more commonplace than naught. Many have speculated as to why the
raids were common some saying it was because of the Italian Mafia s involvement in owning those
establishments, and consequently forgetting to bribe the local police; others believe it to be based in
bias, hatred, and ignorance of people different from oneself. In the Stonewall Inn s specific case, it
could have been a combination of both. The Inn, which was owned by the Mafia, was actually a bottle
club, meaning they did not own a liquor license. You had to be a member to drink there. While these

Physics Of Bowling Essay
Physics Of Bowling
The one thing that interests me is bowling. I have been playing all my life and after a whole semester
and a half of being in Mr. Fetter s class, I realized that everything has physics in it. One night after
going bowling with my girlfriend(s) I wondered why when I hit the first pin, only seven went down
and thus I lost the game. So, I got on the Internet and found a lot of articles and web sites talking
about the physics of bowling. A lot of the web sites were brief descriptions. A guy named Paul Durbin
wrote many articles on physics. One of his articles he discussed was about bowling. He mentioned one
thing we already went over this semester in physics class. But it seems to me that he neglected to

You may let go of the bowling ball at a constant speed, but its velocity is not constant because of the
change in direction every instant. The ball s state of motion is changing. It s accelerating! Now you
can see why it is important to know the difference between speed and velocity, and why acceleration is
defined as the rate of change of velocity, rather than speed. Acceleration is like velocity, its directional.
If you were to change your arms speed or direction, or even both, you change velocity and you
accelerate. Just remember acceleration = change of velocity/time interval.
The one thing that s cool about pool is that wooden alley that s always shiny. The alley is made out of
fine wood and is usually shined up. The alley seems to be the friction that slows a ball down. Even
when a single force is applied to an object, it is usually not the only force affecting the motion. This is
because of friction. Friction is a force that always acts in a direction to oppose motion. When you let
go of the ball one way, the air resistance is coming the opposite direction.
Let go of the bowling ball and you can see it in motion. If an object moves, the by virtue of that
motion it is capable of doing work. It has energy in motion, or kinetic energy. The kinetic energy of an
object depends on the mass of the object as well as its speed.
KE = ½mv².
When you let go of that bowling ball, you do work on it to give it speed to get that nice rotation. The

How To Write An Organic Contaminant Essay
Organic Contaminants in Humans Unfortunately, we grew up with the inception that organic food
crops and other merchandises are pesticide free, making us believe that it is completely safe for us to
eat. This is not one hundred percent true. Organic Contaminants are the main sorcery behind this.
These Contaminants are carbon based chemicals; which include solvents and pesticides. They can
enter our main everyday sources such as: water runoff from cropland or waste from factories entering
our foods, eventually exposing humans to these contaminants. Organic Contaminants can be broken
down into plastics, lubricants, fuels, solvents, pesticides and preservatives. Overall, any kind of
contaminant can enter our body systems through several different ways. Firstly, these contaminants
can be found mostly everywhere in our environment such as soil, groundwater, surface water plants,

Therefore, if these contaminants can be measured as to how much of it approximately enters the
human body, it can potentially prevent certain diseases from developing. For example, most people are
known to have dioxins accumulated within the body as most people are exposed to organically
contaminated air, food crops, and meat or dairy products. The level in an individual s body is
identified as the dioxin body burden. Individuals who are carnivores may have higher dioxin body
burdens as the food within that category contain high levels of dioxins. Fortunately, there are two
main available tests that are used for measuring dioxins in human blood. The first test is the Bioassay
Test. This test provides an estimate for the total TEQ concentration in the body. The second test is
High resolution gas chromatography spectroscopy (HR GC/MS). This test measures congeners within
the body as well as the total TEQ concentration in the body. However, this type of test is more costly

In Football Season, John Updike uses various literary elements to illustrate his themes of reminiscing

He creates a themes based on the perception of time and reminiscing on good times. He misses the
time he had in high school on those friday nights. People often reminisce on memories in their past
and realize that those beloved moments are long gone. This is put on display when Updike ends his
story with Girls walk by me carrying their invisible bouquets from fields still steeped in grace, and i
look up in the manner of one who follows with his eye the passage of a hearse, and remembers what
pierces him (125). The invisible bouquets are his recollection of their fragrance wrapped in front of
their arms(125). He then provides the metaphor of watching those thoughts disappearing like the
passage of a hearse. His memories are dead and pass by him in the back of a hearse. Everyone
experiences these same moments of reminisce. However, time seems to move in slow motion as he
recalls his teenage years, a span of moments that appear to be endless. Now, tuning the corner into
adulthood, we found time to be instead a black immensity endlessly supplied, like the wind (Updike
124). This is how the Narrator describes time as a fifteen year

Development Of Infants And Toddlers
INTRODUCTION
I. I m sure we can all relate to the moment when you first meet a new born, infant or even toddler and
all you can say is Awh how cute he or she is , and how much you just want to pinch those chubby
cheeks or tickle those little toes.
II. Whether you ve had a child of our own, have a younger sibling, or even may have never been
around young children before, we all have our own experiences and unique ways of interacting with
them.
III. These little cute bundles of joy, or maybe occasionally not so joyful at times have much more than
just cute looks. From birth to five years of age they are actually going through a critical period of
development that is a complex and vital to their growth for years to come.
IV. Ever since I was a young girl I have always had a great interest in learning about the development
of infants and toddlers. Now, as I enter my senior year in the Family and Child Sciences Department
at Florida State University, I have gained great one on one personal experience working with children
ranging from zero to ten years old.
As we all might know the obvious physical developmental signs an infant goes through known as
growth. What many may not know is the stages a child moves through known as, child developmental
stages or milestones. This includes how the child becomes able to do more complex things as they get
older. Such as Gross and fine motor skills, Social and Language skills, and lastly Cognitive Skills.

Edelman s Examination Of Earback Culture
The consequences of Edelman s theoretical explorations in No Future, and Dean s examination of
bareback culture in Breeding Culture have implications well beyond their initial purpose. Both
anthropological analyses of queer culture through the lens of psychoanalysis open a whole new realm
of theoretical discourse and radically decenter the theories of both Freud and Lacan. If one can use
anthropology and psychoanalysis to examine queer subculture, what other areas of theoretical
discourse can one apply this model to?
It is without exaggeration (or abuse of grammar) that I answer this question with an emphatic yes; the

The real, the sexual instincts, and the organic cell are under the same heading because the real is
impossible to imagine, impossible to integrate into the symbolic order, and impossible to attain in any
way (Ross; quoting Evans and Bowie). It is the impossibility of the real that links it to the sexual and
death instincts (which are essentially the same thing), and the organic cell. To illustrate, Heidegger s
being towards death is the source of his foundational anxious attunement, but being towards death is
not the same as being towards the end (Heidegger 245). It is Heidegger s distinction between knowing
I will surely die someday, and I am dying right now that draws the death instinct into agreement with
the organic cell. This is to say that, while the biological need to reproduce drives the death instinct,
any awareness of the purpose (or expression) of this need cannot be internalized. Likewise, one cannot
be aware of their biological imperative (per the organic cell) for immortality through reproduction;
these desires and instincts are not repressed, they are beyond the scope of human comprehension.
Moving on to the next column, the imaginary, the ego instincts, and the conscious cell are linked
together as they lie within the realm of unarticulated (but articulable) identifications and idealisations
which are the building blocks of fantasy and ego; it is the most

Benefit Of Renewable Energy
1. The term renewable in terms of energy sources are those sources that do not run out, and are being
restored all the time. For example, The sun, or energy from it never dries up, it is therefore the source
of most types of renewable energy (Renewable Energy World, 2017)
2. There are a number of renewable energy forms. The most common five sources are Biomass, Solar,
Wind, Geothermal and Hydropower, and I have chosen Wind energy and Hydropower.
o Wind is the movement of air, and this is created by the earth s revolution around the sun, the earth s
uneven surfaces and the sun heating these surfaces. Wind Turbines is the technology used to trap the
power in wind and these turbines change that power into electricity. (n.d. Office of Energy Efficiency
and Renewable Energy) o Hydropower is produced from moving water and is determined by the
volume of water and the height from which it drops. It depends on the water cycle, as rainfall draining
into rivers is the source of water used to generate electricity. As a source of energy, it has long been in
existence, and new technology to generate power from currents, waves and tides are now being
developed.
3. Benefits of wind energy
I. It is sustainable. A form of solar energy, (the heating of the atmosphere by the sun contributes to the
creation of wind), wind energy can always be produced as long as there are winds and sunshine.
II. It does not create pollution and is sometimes referred to as a source of clean energy.

Essay On How To Shoot A Baseball Bat
One of the hardest things to do for nearly any athlete is to hit a baseball. Some of the greatest sports
heroes ever, couldn t but the bat on the ball no matter how hard they tried. Even players talented
enough to make it professionally, have an on base success rate of less than 33%.
Hitting a baseball is difficult, but consistent contact can be made if you swing properly. Here are some
three tips on how to swing a baseball bat correctly, great suggestions for any level of competition.
Solid Foundation
A good baseball swing starts with your base. You need a good foundation to productively make
contact with a baseball. When your foundation is unstable, your swing will be erratic; as well will be
the results. Work on stable stance that establishes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The component they all have in common is sturdiness. Feet are spaced approximately twice the width
of your hips, with slightly bent knees and your body weight shifted towards the balls of your feet.
Open Your Hips
This is one of the more difficult aspects of properly swinging at a baseball. When your hips open to
soon, you will be behind the pitch. Opening your hips too early will cause you to swing over the ball,
or be too far out in front.
Rotating your hips at precisely the exact instant the bat makes contact with the ball is how to generate
the most power from your swing. The most accomplished hitters refer to this concept, as launching
your hips. The stance and hip rotation are where a hitter s power is generated.
Can t Hit What You Can t See
Tracking the ball is one aspect of hitting a baseball. It cannot stop at any point during your swing. If
your eyes drift, so will your head. When you pull your head off the ball, you will compromise your
swing.
Most of the time you ll miss the pitch completely, or at best make poor contact. To keep you head on
the ball, never take your eyes off the ball. The best hitters profess to actually seeing the ball make
contact with that bat. Good hitters insist, you cannot hit what you cannot see, so focus on the ball to
help keep your head

The Black Death Was A Tragic Pandemic
The Black Death was a tragic pandemic that changed Europe dramatically. The Black Death, also
known as the Bubonic plague, killed millions of people throughout the thirteenth and fourteenth
centuries. The Black Plague occurred in this time period because trade and commerce started to
develop rapidly. After new trade routes had been opened, a ship coming back from Asia picked up
some fleas and rodents that were carrying the disease. Once the disease hit Europe, it spread rapidly
and killed millions of people. The late middle aged Europeans during this time lived in constant fear
of death. Most of them would remain inside their houses, trying to avoid any contact with the outside
world because they feared that they would develop the disease. In the end, every citizen was aware
that he or she could not escape death because eventually the Black Death would reach them. This
sparked creativity and inspiration in Europeans. The people all over Europe started creating new ideas
and developing theories based on society all because they feared that the Black Death would take their
lives. With this new profound sense of knowledge, there were new developments in science, literature,
and society that would ultimately help humanity flourish as a whole. Being surrounded by death and
the fear of it, it eventually helped society change for the better. There would be no change in society if
the people of Europe had not been surrounded and inspired by death. Death played an important role

South Carolina Dbq Questions And Answers
Why Was Charles Town Impenetrable to Settle On South Carolina is a triven state in the United
States, it has a lot of history to it like having a lot to do in the revolutionary war. It has some of the
outstanding neighborhood in America. It seems to be a good vacation spot, well it would surprise
people to know that South Carolina was once a place where some settlers were trying to settle on the
land, but a couple of things kept the settlers from settling on the rich land. Geography, resources, and
diseases.
One of the reasons Charles Town was tough to settle on was because of geography, the early maps
made it challenging for settles because of the fear of abduction or being taken prisoner from Natives
Americans or pirates. The early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the first settlers landed on south carolina they were limited with resources. When settlers came
they described the land as flat and woody which means covered in trees as it is stated in Document B,
James Glen, A Description of south Carolina, 1761, the land of South Carolina for a hundred or a
hundred and fifty miles back is flat and woody; intersected with many large rivers, some of which rise
out of the out of the Cherokee Mountains. The land made finding a place to settle hard because it was
hard to reach. After they settled or somewhat of settled the diversity of the soil made it tough to grow
food, soil like clay, loam, and marl were hard to distinguish. Clay is a type of soil that does not help
plants grow or can grow plant, loam is like clay but with sand and silt, but silt is like a fertilizer that
helps plants grow .The diversity of the lands soil made it difficult for the settlers to identify the type of
soil like clay, loam, and marl. The lands of savannah was also cleared by indians and did not produce
any trees. The land they wanted to settle on was filled with dangerous creatures of nature. These
creatures include Panthers, Tigers, wolves, and other dangerous animals, which in a cause of this
became dangerous at night, and day.
There was another reason South Carolina was hard to settle on, it s because to diseases. Diseases like
the small poxs were what damaged the population and reduced it to not that much people. Then the
settlers decided to settle in South carolina, they were mat with a violent kind of small pox rages in
Charles Town. As it is stated in Document E The Letterbook of Eliza Lucas Pinckney 1739 1762 a
violent kind of small pox rages in Charles Town that most puts a stop to all business . The small pox
are one of the reasons South Carolina was tough to settle

Good By Heart Research Paper
Good by Heart or by Reward?
Is the definition of a good citizen one that needs to be forced to do such actions? I believe that defeats
the purpose of what it means to dedicate your time to others and be truly altruistic. What does it mean
to genuinely give your time to others? It does not mean that one gives away something as precious as
the time we are given because they have been incentivised to do so.
In today s modern society many students in preparatory school such as high schools and junior high
schools are now requiring students to do donate their time to volunteer work or community service.
These preparatory schools are doing this now in hopes that it helps prepare the young adults for the
real world where the teenagers will have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is not to be taken wrong, the idea of getting people more involved in community service is a step
in the right direction with many good intentions but has been delivered wrong. Forcing of an activity
that is supposed to be voluntary could have more negative effects than it can positive, such as a dislike
that is grown due to the fact that the activity is forced and this leads to a less likelihood of
participating thus causing a negative association. And this grows and nationwide countries that require
this new criteria will have built a community on fake interest instead of genuine care. Society wants to
move away from that but we can not do such a thing if we must have an forced or incentivised
volunteering thus at that point the cultivation of a fake society doing what outwardly is correct and can
help us grow as a society is nothing but a false action where individuals are after their own gain rather
than helping one

Similarities Between Don Pedro And Don John
Has there been much ado about everything❓If so, you re wrong, because it s Much Ado About
Nothing by William Shakespeare. In this book, Don John ruins Claudio s wedding. The character Don
John is a foil for the character Don Pedro because they are opposites, and this affects the play because
Don John creates conflict that Don Pedro ends. This influences the plot because this is what causes the
conflict. Don John and Don Pedro are different because Don John causes conflict and Don Pedro ends
conflict, but they are also similar because they have control of the love between others.
Don John is different from Don Pedro because Don John causes conflict and Don Pedro ends conflict.

Shel Silverstein s Where The Sidewalk Ends
Shel Silverstein was born in Chicago, Illinois and began writing at a very young age. He is the author
of children s literature like Everything On It and Where the Sidewalk Ends . In 1963, he met an editor
named Ursula Nordstrom who inspired him about writing a book that is suited for children. In the
book Everything On It , Silverstein added humor and laughs for the children who read the book, but
still be able to add a life lesson. However, in the book Where the Sidewalk Ends , he wanted to inform
adults to look back on their own childhood and look for the moments that gave them joy. When
writing those books, Silverstein used different styles when writing his poems. For example, he uses
rhyming, punctuation, rhythm, and tone to engage children and make them enjoy his poems, but still
be able to portray his message or lesson from each poem to kids. First of all, Silverstein uses the
elements, rhyming and rhythm in most of his poems to make readers more engaged and so they can
easily understand what the poem is trying to say. In the poem Masks from the book Every Thing On It
, it presents four lines of rhyming, She had blue skin, and so did he, he kept it hid, and so did she . The
words she and he both rhyme, however the words skin and hid don t rhyme. That s ... Show more

In the poem Years From Now from the book Every Thing On It the following lines states, Although I
cannot see your face, as you flip these poems awhile, somewhere from some far off place, I hear you
laughing and I smile. Punctuation is in every poem as it s used to be at the end of every line, but the
punctuation used in this poem makes it even more powerful and meaningful. This poem s meaning is
to say that when the author, Shel Silverstein passes away and when he s off someplace else and cannot
see your face , he tells his readers that he will assure them that they will laugh and in return Silverstein

In intrinsic pathway after cell ECM detachment, BH3 only proteins (Bim and Bid) stimulate Bax and Bak pro apoptotic proteins oligomerization and pore creation in mitochondrial outer membrane. Because of these pores, cytochrome C and SMAC/DIABLO proteins will be release from mitochondria into the cytosol. Herman Melville Research Paper Raju Singh Mrs. McDaniel American Literature Herman Melville Progress is key to living life, but if one is advancing through life with the motivation of revenge, then, in actuality, he or she is truly regressing. Revenge is an extremely corruptive trait. It causes people to do uncharacteristic things that normally would not be done. The perception of right and wrong is blurred and one takes inadvertent actions that may cost friendships, possessions, and even lives. Revenge is often a major motivating factor in the characters that are in the works written during the Dark Romanticism period. On September 28, 1891 just after midnight, Melville suffered a heart attack and died, leaving Billy Budd in manuscript (Rollyson xxiv). Billy Budd was published posthumously. Moby Dick is considered to be one of, if not the, best novels in American history. Harper amp; Brothers first published it in 1851 in New York. In England, it was published in the same year under the title, The Whale ( Moby Dick ). Melville explores topics and themes that were scarcely spoken of and never even seen in a novel. In the novel, the Pequod, which is the ship, is named after a Native American tribe that was exterminated when the white settlers arrived. It is a symbol of death and doom and foreshadows event that occur later in the novel. Melville brings some very controversial themes to light in the novel. Revenge is one of the main themes of Dark Romanticism and Melville uses it to drive every action taken by Ahab. This is seen early on in the novel as Ahab explains to the crew why he has a peg leg and that he wants to enact his revenge on Moby Dick (Melville 160 161). Moby Dick is, fundamentally, a revenge tragedy. It s about one man s maniacal obsession with vengeance. It s about finding an object on which to pin all you anger and fear and rage, not only about your own suffering, but also about the suffering of all mankind ( Moby ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The eighty three women are divided into Middle Eastern women and Western women. The women ranged in ages from nineteen to thirty eight. I promise you it doesn t mean what you think it does! More and more I feel I have to teach my older family how to live today than they taught me how to live. They taught me the basics but they just do not get how to live in the modern world. Most of this is because of the generation gap as explained in Nancy Gibbs article Generation Next. I hugely agree that the generation gap is at an all time high between my generation, the millennials, and that of my parents and grandparents. Young Americans are forced to be more educated, they feel technology bridges a gap, and while still being conventional the way they are conventional makes the gap even larger. Gibbs states Young Americans are now more educated... and [yet] less likely to have a job than previous generations. Sometimes I would sit on the couch by the window and feel the sun s heat hit my face and watch the cars drive by. Sometimes I played with her giant record player, but vases covered it that day, so I went to her old piano. Dust covered sheet music and instruction books filled the bench of the piano. I flipped through them and found songs I knew, and I became determined. That day I decided I wanted to learn the piano. Every day at the same time I would go in her sitting room and practice, and every day she would listen and tell me how good a job I was doing. Some days she would even come play with me. Every day of that summer looked exactly the same: sleep in the morning on the couch, have lunch with my mom, and play piano in the afternoon. It did change on some days when my grandmother would take me to the Baskin Robins down the street, and we d get ice cream, but I d always practice when we got back. The magnitude of the projection of the electron s spin along an arbitrary axis is, implying that the electron acts as a Fermion by the spinstatistics theorem. Like orbital angular momentum, the spin has an associated magnetic moment, the magnitude of which is expressed as.   3 q  2 m ( e ) In a solid the spins of many electrons can act together to affect the magnetic and electronic properties of a material, for example endowing it with a permanent magnetic moment as in a ferromagnet. In many materials, electron spins are equally present in both the up and the down state, and no transport properties are dependent on spin. A spintronic device requires generation or manipulation of a spinpolarized population of electrons, resulting in an excess of spin up or spin down electrons. The polarization of any spin dependent property X can be written as. P ( X )  X   X  X   X  A net spin polarization can be achieved either through creating an equilibrium energy split between spin up and spin down. Methods include putting a material in a large magnetic field (Zeeman effect), the exchange energy present in a ferromagnet or forcing the system out of equilibrium. • 12. The Duty Of Women In Medea By Euripides The duty of women portrayed in Greek society is a major subject in Euripides Medea. In old Greek society, ladies are delicate and compliant as per men, and their social position is viewed as exceptionally mediocre. Feminism is the hypothesis of men being viewed different in contrast to women and the male predominance over ladies in the public eye. Women s lives are spoken to by the parts they either pick or have forced on them. This is obvious in the play Medea by Euripides through the characters of Medea and the medical attendant. During the day and age which Medea is set ladies have exceptionally restricted social power and no political power by any stretch of the imagination, despite the fact that a ladies maternal and residential power was regarded in the protection of the home, Our lives rely upon how his lordship feels. The constrained power these ladies were given is diverse to present day society yet parts are as yet forced on ladies to acclimate and be a devoted spouse. Ladies have dependably been dis engaged because of their sex in present day and antiquated circumstances alike. In Corinth they are required to run the family unit and fit in with social desires of an obedient spouse. Medea, being an eternal and relative from the divine beings has a specific power in insight and guileful keenness. Being an outsider, Medea s wayward nonsensical conduct was normal in this play as she was not conceived in Greece and was viewed as an exotic foreigner. She goes over to the group of onlookers as an intense female character regarding viciousness. Some of Medea s responses and decisions have all the earmarks of being made a huge deal about as creators for the most part influence characters to appear to be overwhelming; this makes a superior comprehension of the content and the issues which are produced through the characters. Medea s ill conceived marriage and the double crossing of Jason drive Medea to outrageous vengeance. These three people helped to enact change by becoming successful leaders, being brave, and cared for people as they took a stand no matter what they thought could happen to them for standing up. Fallen Art who was directed by Tomasz Baginski showed three themes in his short film setting points on why war is bad through three different characters. Then the old guy in a lab coat taking the pictures, represents the value of military life by taking pictures of the soldiers once they land from the fall. Lastly the young fat guy towards the end of the film represents war as entertainment by creating art through the pictures given to him by the old guy. I believe the argument the director is trying to make through his film is that violence is senseless, and we should take in consideration those who are willing to go into war knowing the risks, and the endings it can lead to. The founders greatly admired Martin Luther King s nonviolent methods in forcing integration and attempted to emulate those principles in their struggle. The problem was not in their efforts, or intentions, but the fact that their society was politically weak, garnering little support among the homosexuals of that era. As the civil unrest of the 1960s continued to grow, with more radical and leftist movements emerging, the Mattachine Society was viewed as traditional, conservative, and unwilling to literally fight for the rights of their people. It was not uncommon for the New York Police Department Morals Task Force to raid gay bars. In fact, during the two decades leading up to the Stonewall Riots, the raids were more commonplace than naught. Many have speculated as to why the raids were common some saying it was because of the Italian Mafia s involvement in owning those establishments, and consequently forgetting to bribe the local police; others believe it to be based in bias, hatred, and ignorance of people different from oneself. In the Stonewall Inn s specific case, it could have been a combination of both. The Inn, which was owned by the Mafia, was actually a bottle club, meaning they did not own a liquor license. You may let go of the bowling ball at a constant speed, but its velocity is not constant because of the change in direction every instant. The ball s state of motion is changing. It s accelerating! Now you can see why it is important to know the difference between speed and velocity, and why acceleration is defined as the rate of change of velocity, rather than speed. Acceleration is like velocity, its directional. If you were to change your arms speed or direction, or even both, you change velocity and you accelerate. Just remember acceleration = change of velocity/time interval. The one thing that s cool about pool is that wooden alley that s always shiny. The alley is made out of fine wood and is usually shined up. The alley seems to be the friction that slows a ball down. Even when a single force is applied to an object, it is usually not the only force affecting the motion. This is because of friction. Friction is a force that always acts in a direction to oppose motion. When you let go of the ball one way, the air resistance is coming the opposite direction. Let go of the bowling ball and you can see it in motion. If an object moves, the by virtue of that motion it is capable of doing work. It has energy in motion, or kinetic energy. The kinetic energy of an object depends on the mass of the object as well as its speed. KE = ½mv². When you let go of that bowling ball, you do work on it to give it speed to get that nice rotation. How To Write An Organic Contaminant Essay Organic Contaminants in Humans Unfortunately, we grew up with the inception that organic food crops and other merchandises are pesticide free, making us believe that it is completely safe for us to eat. The level in an individual s body is identified as the dioxin body burden. Individuals who are carnivores may have higher dioxin body burdens as the food within that category contain high levels of dioxins. The invisible bouquets are his recollection of their fragrance wrapped in front of their arms(125). He then provides the metaphor of watching those thoughts disappearing like the passage of a hearse. His memories are dead and pass by him in the back of a hearse. Everyone experiences these same moments of reminisce. If one can use anthropology and psychoanalysis to examine queer subculture, what other areas of theoretical discourse can one apply this model to? The real, the sexual instincts, and the organic cell are under the same heading because the real is impossible to imagine, impossible to integrate into the symbolic order, and impossible to attain in any way (Ross; quoting Evans and Bowie). It is the impossibility of the real that links it to the sexual and death instincts (which are essentially the same thing), and the organic cell. To illustrate, Heidegger s being towards death is the source of his foundational anxious attunement, but being towards death is not the same as being towards the end (Heidegger 245). It is Heidegger s distinction between knowing I will surely die someday, and I am dying right now that draws the death instinct into agreement with the organic cell. This is to say that, while the biological need to reproduce drives the death instinct, any awareness of the purpose (or expression) of this need cannot be internalized. Likewise, one cannot be aware of their biological imperative (per the organic cell) for immortality through reproduction; these desires and instincts are not repressed, they are beyond the scope of human comprehension. Moving on to the next column, the imaginary, the ego instincts, and the conscious cell are linked together as they lie within the realm of unarticulated (but articulable) identifications and idealisations which are the building blocks of fantasy and ego; it is the most ... For example, The sun, or energy from it never dries up, it is therefore the source of most types of renewable energy (Renewable Energy World, 2017) 2. There are a number of renewable energy forms. The most common five sources are Biomass, Solar, Wind, Geothermal and Hydropower, and I have chosen Wind energy and Hydropower. o Wind is the movement of air, and this is created by the earth s revolution around the sun, the earth s uneven surfaces and the sun heating these surfaces. Wind Turbines is the technology used to trap the power in wind and these turbines change that power into electricity. (n.d. Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy) o Hydropower is produced from moving water and is determined by the volume of water and the height from which it drops. It depends on the water cycle, as rainfall draining into rivers is the source of water used to generate electricity. As a source of energy, it has long been in existence, and new technology to generate power from currents, waves and tides are now being developed. 3. Benefits of wind energy I. It is sustainable. A form of solar energy, (the heating of the atmosphere by the sun contributes to the creation of wind), wind energy can always be produced as long as there are winds and sunshine. II.
