The Parody Of The White Man s Burden
In early 1899, near the beginning of the Philippine American war, Rudyard Kipling wrote his highly
controversial poem, The White Man s Burden. As the title suggests, Kipling wrote this piece to
explain the hardships that come with having captives. Also, a few months later an editorial piece was
written in order to explain the underlying meaning of the poem. Unsurprisingly, The White Man s
Burden started an uproar and received many responses, notably one titled The Black Man s Burden.
This piece is essentially a parody written to expose the privilege of the original. First of all, the The
White Man s Burden is privileged before anything else. For example, Go send your sons to exile/ To
serve your captives need... Kipling saw it as the inherent burden of white men to send their sons to
take over other countries, or as T. Thomas Fortune stated in the editorial, it s the white man s burden is
the voluntary and violent assumption of sovereignty over black and ... Show more content on

As a parody, the goal of this piece is to delegitimize its predecessor. Specifically, the poem mocks the
idea that white imperialists are burdened. For example, Hail ye your fearless armies,/ Which menace
feeble folks. The author then explains that the natives use bows and arrows and are no match for the
invader s rifles. It is also worth noting that the clergyman repeated pile on the Black Man s Burden,
which is most certainly a jab at Take on the White Man s Burden. In comparison, pile on has a much
more cumbersome connotation, while take on is not cumbersome at all and is actually voluntary.
Keeping with the idea of the voluntarism of imperialism, T. Thomas Fortune spoke of a similar theme
in his editorial, Nobody has asked the white races to rob and enslave the black and yellow races of
earth, thus imperialism is

Summary Of Appiah s Kindness To Strangers
If faced with globalization, these people may move away or even learn different languages and just
generally become different. This, in Appiah s view, is not something that we should prevent from
happening because within these tiny homogenous pockets are people that long to be different
therefore, by allowing contamination to occur, you allow people to shape their own lives instead of
them being oppressed into a cultural homogeneity: there is no place for the enforcement of diversity
by trapping people within a kind of difference they long to escape. (105) Kindness to Strangers In this
last chapter, Appiah discusses the stranger kindness predicament in which there is a dilemma about
how, and when strangers should commit acts of kindness

Marx and Durkheim’s Views Contributed to our Understanding...
How have Marx and Durkheim s Views Contributed to our Understanding of Crime and Deviance?
Karl Marx s Marxist theory and Emile Durkheim s functionalist theory were both significant in their
own ways and therefore made a large contribution to our perception and understanding of how crime
and deviance occurs and is dealt with in society. The Marxist theory on crime was focused on the
concept that the huge shift towards a capitalist society was the root cause and driving force behind the
formation of social divisions and subsequent increase in crime and conflict. Willem Bonger expanded
on the Marxist theory by explaining that the capitalist shifts lead the law to focus on the proletariat
divisions as the deviant members of society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that the presence of deviance in society allows moral borders and boundaries to be
structured around social assumptions of deviant behaviours and what s considered right and wrong.
The subsequent responses to these types of behaviours promote social unity and encourage social
change. David Downes and Paul Rock proposed that crime should be viewed and a necessary factor
that is a healthy social phenomenon in societies. This shows that Durkheim sparked the recognition
that crime should be viewed as a healthy normality at sensible levels, rather than is being viewed as a
solely negative factor that brings society down. Crime and deviance is supposedly is key to regularity
in society, it provides a huge amount of public understanding and social acceptance to the existence of
crime. In doing this Durkheim allowed a new understanding that crime was something not to be
assumed as something that should be feared within society because it is in actual fact A normal
product of stable institutions . This was an entirely new and innovative concept at the time of the
theory of functionalisms introduction, people lived in fear of crime and people who possess deviant
characteristics. Neo Durkheimian theories have also been extremely helpful in explanations of how we
understand Durkheim s theory of functionalism and how it s been incorporated it in to today s society.
They emphasise on the fact that acts of deviance increase levels

Operation Desert War
In August 1990, a great threat was before the United States as Saddam Hussein was rallying his army
to storm Kuwait. The threat was a major problem since Kuwait was a major supplier of oil.
(ushistory.org) Hussein was not only hostile towards Kuwait, but he was also threatening Saudi
Arabia. (ushistory.org) Just like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia is also a major oil supplier to the United States.
If Iraq took control of both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, Iraq would control one fifth of the world s oil
supply. (ushistory.org) This will not stand, said former President George Bush, speaking on the orders
of Saddam Hussein, dictator of Iraq, to send his army into Kuwait. Without the effects of operation
desert shield, desert storm air, and desert storm land attacks, the Persian Gulf War would have been
very different. In the following months of the war, the United States sent troops to help defend against
Iraq. It was deemed Operation Desert Shield. Over five hundred thousand American troops were
deployed to Kuwait to help defend Iraqi troops. (Grossman, 351) On November 29, 1990, the United
Nations Security Council authorized the US to use whatever it took to try and push Iraqi soldiers out
of Kuwait. (history.com) The United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rate of Juvenile Offenses and the Juvenile Justice System
Palm Beach County, Fla. On May 26, 2000, 13 year old Nathaniel Brazill shot his teacher, Barry
Grunow, with a .25 caliber handgun in school. Palm Beach County prosecutors tried Brazill as an
adult for first degree murder. The jury found Brazill guilty of second degree murder and the judge
sentenced him to 28 years in an adult facility. After his release, Brazill will face two years of house
arrest and five years of probation. (Klug) Does this sentence appear too severe, or perhaps too
tolerant? Without understanding all of the specifics involved in the case, it may be harder to conclude
what would be the best thing to do with 13 year old Brazill. What exact details would an individual
need to know in order to judge him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the main factors that cause the complexity is that with each approach come certain doctrines on
the differences between juveniles and adults; but more importantly, how these dissimilarities should
affect legal policies. It will be up to voters, legislators, and groups to conclude what steps we will take
to curb the growing tendency of juvenile misdeed and aggression. Imagining juvenile delinquents as
our own younger siblings, or possibly our own children gone astray will help us to make the strong
conclusions engaged in treating juvenile delinquents. As school students, we are the next generation of
voters, legislators, and public leaders. In alignment for us to make the best conclusions for troubled
adolescents we must be acquainted of the numerous ways we can go about handling juvenile
delinquents. Each method of treatment is quite perplexed so we must take care to realize the issues to
the fullest possible span. To double check that juvenile delinquents are being treated fairly, we must
make our conclusions with as much concern for their well being as we can, as well as keeping in mind
the best concerns of humanity. As voters, we can start to form policies in the ways we see fit for
battling juvenile offenses and aggression. Perhaps some of our own preferred procedures for treating
young kids are echoed in the current outlooks of the public in the direction of

Grand Theft Auto Debate
A. Can you imagine a situation where an entertainment industry designed or created a video game
where you were allowed to kill any police officers by set them on fire, massacre them using rifles and
chainsaws? Do you think that anyone wanted to buy that kind of games? The answer is yes and they
already did.
1. Did you know the worldwide sale of a violent game named Grand Theft Auto has sold nearly $2.3
billion? According to a CBS news article with a title Can a Video Game Relate to Murder , Grand
Theft Auto (GTA) is a video game where the players can live in a world administered by the laws of
depravity. If there re people you don t like? Kill them. If you see a car that you like, steal it (Leung).

So, for me, banning the sale of violent video games to minors is one of the best prevention methods to
put an end to this problem.
1. This legislation is to strengthen the present industry controlled rating system and to ban the sale or
rental any video games that are excessively violent that consist killing, hurting, dissecting or sexually
assaulting an image of a human being to those who were under 18 (Mears).
2. Retailers who violate this law will be fine and it also requires the game maker to put an 18 label on
greatly violent video games (Mears).
3. This legislation is really beneficial to our society as it can prevent youths in our community to get
engaged in any violent acts caused by video games influence. Restriction may not be a good solution
as there are some parents that do not care what their children do; they just allow their children to do
whatever they want. But, with government involvement, it was harder for the minors to get access to
the violent video games. Now, you all can see that banning of the sale of violent video games to
minors is the best way that we can do, as there are no other efficient ways to put an end to this
problem. What happen if we do not support this legislation?

They may become resentful at missing out on their childhood and present challenging behaviour. They
may suffer anxiety whilst away from home and worry about their parent, resulting in a failure to
engage in their education. They may not fulfil their potential in life as much of it will be dedicated to
being a carer. Having a parent with a long term illness or disability could also lead to financial
hardship due to lack of employment.
Criminal or anti social behaviour
Whether it is behaviour presented by the child, a sibling or parent it could result in the child being
taken into care. A parent could be absent for a length of time, if imprisoned, causing emotional stress.
The child may perceive the behaviour as normal or acceptable, especially if it is being carried out by
the parents and copy it. It may result in a transient lifestyle, as they could be re housed as a result of
anti social behaviour. This would result in the child suffering a disrupted education and struggling to
form long term stable friendships.
Addictions
The impact of addictions on children can be various. They can suffer health problems, if their mother
had a drug or alcohol problem during pregnancy. They may suffer poverty due to lack of employment,
or if the addiction is gambling.

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Online Education
As the online scene is rapidly prevailing in our everyday life, the traditional form of face to face
learning is slowly shifting its practice towards online learning. Online courses are becoming a growing
trend with a flexible way of functioning in respect to time, location and accessibility. However, even
though it sounds appealing, students need to consider the advantages and features of face to face
learning which cannot be found online. Traditional educationis based on and helps develop:
communication skills through interaction, discipline and organization, as well as a distinct value that
traditional degrees have for future career advancement. Those in favor of online learning would argue
that communication online is possible and just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whether they are located in an area where they do not have an accessible institution to attend classes

take it as a seemingly cheaper option. Generally, the total cost of a degree, including tuition, expenses
for rent, books and everyday needs cost less with online education. However, some universities charge
more for online courses as they cost more to develop and maintain. Aside from this, another thing
important to discuss are online degrees. As shown by research, employers do not value online degrees
as much as they do degrees earned through traditional institutions. In such a case, students who earn
their degrees online are at a disadvantage when seeking employment. The principal reason for this are
the many fraudulent establishments which take advantage of the increasing number of students willing
to pay online. Employers, therefore, question these degrees earned from unfamiliar institutions. Before
enrolling in a program, students have to make sure that school is accredited. To avoid having their
online degree discounted, students have to research and enroll in a school that has recognition in the
relevant field the student is interested

Objective:
The objective of our senior project is to develop portable lab equipment and software interface for first

Future Expansion:
This project could also include a multimeter and curve tracer. It could also be improved by having a
higher voltage and a better regulated power supply. The function generator could also have higher
bandwidth and frequency.
Cost:
Estimated total cost is $316. Introduction:
When we visualized our senior project, we decided that engineering and electronic students in college
could make use of portable, inexpensive, simple equipment in order to demonstrate concepts off
campus. This equipment would not necessarily have all of the functionality and versatility of the lab
equipment, but it would be useful in demonstrating concepts. The current lab equipment is great for
school, but if students have a need to use the equipment at home such as to finish labs, learn more, or
just hobby use, they are left without an inexpensive alternative with the equipment currently on the
market. Our solution was to address these issues with our project which we named Lab In A Box. This
would allow students to have a portable oscilloscope, power supply, and function generator at a
greatly reduced cost. The labs performed usually only requires low bandwidth and low voltage
equipment. The power supplies in the labs are DC with the capability of +6V and ±25V. The function
generator is a 15MHz waveform generator that is capable of sine, square, triangle, and saw tooth
waveforms. The

The Development Of Self Regulation Amongst Children
The development of self regulation amongst children is complex and influenced by a large number of
factors such as attunement, family routine, language development, and social interaction, to name just
a few (Kopp, 1982). Given these factors are likely influenced by early parent child interactions, and
since it s widely known that culture influences parental values and beliefs, one can expect to notice a
large difference when comparing parental styles between two contrasting cultures, such as Japan and
the United States. Furthermore, it would be expected to find a difference in the development of self
regulation between Japanese and American children.
Why is Amae important? Amae is a Japanese word lacking an English equivalent, however, in short, is
defined as passive love and is often used when describing the most important relationship in Japanese
culture: the parent child relationship (Doi, 1973, p. 18). The concept is very much hierarchical and the
verb form, amaeru means to seek to fill the desire to be taken care of by someone of authority (Doi,
1973, p. 29). Though the concept of amae is not exclusive to Japanese culture, Japanese is the only
language to have a word for it (Doi, 1973, p. 18). Amae is important to understand because it s at the
core of Japanese culture, and is an essential part to the Japanese definition of love, extending beyond
the mother child relationship and being valued and accepted in any type of adult relationships (Doi,
1973, p. 21).

Improving Access For Voluntary Family Planning
More than 200 million women in developing countries who want to avoid or delay pregnancy are not
using family planning. These women have an unmet need that can result in unintended pregnancies,
unsafe abortions, poor health, and strains on families and economies. Improving access to voluntary
family planning could mitigate these challenges and lead to a host of other benefits. (Source 22, 23,
25).
Given the potential of family planning for far reaching health, development, and economic gains,
governments and their development partners should consider strengthening efforts and looking for
new ways to increase the uptake and quality of family planning services.
To this effect, the main program approaches that led to increases in contraceptive use included
development approaches and supply side interventions. This attention to rigor of family planning
evaluations will increase accountability, improve program decision making, and in the end, improve
maternal and infant health outcomes. (Source 12)
As revealed in various reports both demand and supply side interventions were found to be generally
successful in increasing knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and discussions around family planning as well
as increasing contraceptive use. These impacts are often a result of programs that have taken into
account the importance of various approaches to reaching women and couples with family planning
products and services, providing quality information and service delivery, addressing

Brain Arteriovenous Malformation, Adult
A brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a condition that means your arteries and veins are
tangled. The veins bring blood to the heart and lungs. The arteries bring blood away from the heart
and to the brain. If they are tangled, blood is not able to travel to where it is needed. Brain AVM may
also lead to bleeding in the brain (hemorrhage), which can be life threatening. Most brain AVMs are
present since birth (congenital).
CAUSES
It is not known what causes brain AVM. Genes that are passed down through families may cause some
types of AVM.
RISK FACTORS
Risk factors for brain AVM include being male.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms depend on which area of the brain is affected and the amount of damage. Symptoms may

My Time At The Law Firm
My time at the law firm was full of ups and downs a lot like any other job may offer. Throughout the
internship as the semester was ending I began to see a difference in the way I was treated by the
workers and I began to notice a difference in the attitudes of my co workers. Maybe it was just
because the end of the year was coming and stress from outside the work area was entering the office.
Anyhow the drama created by the stress levels of the co workers personal and work life created many
flaws within the office that I feel need to be addressed. The office is full of problems but financing is
not one of those problems. The agency holds 8 civil law attorneys who pay the business half of all
their attorney fees, which can accumulate a lot over a calendar year. This allows the agency to keep up
to date technology in every office. Since money is not a problem with the firm the main problems
faced are the internal issues of the employees. One of the problems we have is the drama and ill
mannered attitudes that is shown towards other employees. For not being employed very long at the
firm I have seen and heard some disturbing rumors about people that I work with. I do not feel that
this rumor spreading is professional and it should not happen in this agency. However the drama will
not stop due to the clique like work force the agency has. Another well known problem that the
employees have to live with is the insurance rate being outrageously too expensive for sometimes

The Tragedy Of King Lear By William Shakespeare
In the eyes of many, the world might appear to entail solely happiness and prosperity. Beyond the
oblivion is arguably a more practical depiction of real life, filled with cold truths and merciless
mistakes. Few figures in history have captured this essence of reality to such a high degree as
Aristotle, a revolutionary thinker whose ideas shaped Greek tragedy. Within his theory of tragedy is
the concept of the tragic hero, whose great, ironic flaw leads to his own downfall. The tragic hero is of
an elevated position in society but should, all the same, be a character with whom the audience can
relate. The hero undergoes a massive revelation and experiences dramatic enlightenment. The tragedy
of King Lear, written by William Shakespeare, illustrates the story of a proud and self centered king,
whose obtuse judgement shapes his demise. Lear s impulsive actions catalyze a chain of events,
inspiring emotion from the characters and the audience alike. On the surface, King Lear fits the
description of Aristotle s tragic hero. Discrepancies in Lear s tale, however, contradict the idea of an
idyllic relationship between Lear and the philosophies of Aristotle. Lear s faults correspond to those of
the audience, but their extremity proves to be unique. One might think King Lear becomes cognizant
of his decisions, but his fall to insanity acts in conflict. The lack of catharsis in King Lear also
precipitates the build up of negative sentiment. Although King Lear is meant to be

An Analysis Of William Faulkner And Ernest Hemingway
William Faulkner and Ernest Hemingway were both wonderfully gifted and talented writers in their
time. In As I Lay Dying and A Farewell to Arms, one can see the similarities and differences between
Faulkner and Hemingway through their ability to draw from personal experiences to inspire their
work, their narrative styles, and their use of language. William Faulkner was born in New Albany,
Mississippi and trained as a pilot in the first Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 1. After the
war, Faulkner began writing again. A friend told Faulkner to write about his native Mississippi.
Inspired by the concept, Faulkner began writing about the places and people of his childhood,
developing many colorful characters based on the real people he grew up with or heard about. Many
of Faulkner s most successful pieces, including As I Lay Dying, took place in Yoknapatawpha County
a place nearly identical to where he was raised. (Biography.com). Ernest Hemingway s background,
while different from Faulkner s, also inspired his writing. He was working for a newspaper in Kansas
City, when a friend suggested Hemingway volunteer for the American Field Service as an ambulance
driver. In Europe, Hemingway had many of the experiences he used to pull from in writing A Farewell
to Arms, including being wounded by a projectile exploding in the trenches and falling in love with a
nurse who would become the model for Catherine Barkley (Roberts). Their narrating styles are vastly
different.

Sophocles Electra And Not The Orestes
Why is the play called the Electra and not the Orestes? That is, in what way does Sophocles make
Electra, and not Orestes, the focus of his play? Three great Athenian tragic poets Aeschylus, Sophocles
and Euripides addressed to the myth about the killing of Clytemnestra by Orestes. Sophocles s Electra
is one of the interpretations of this legend. Although the avenging one is Orestes, Sophocles brings
Electra to the fore because of her endless hatred and the will to take her revenge against her father s
murderers. First of all, Electra saves young Orestes from their mother Clytemnestra and her lover
Aegisthus who have killed Agamemnon Electra and Orestes s father. Paedagogus says: I rescued you,
entrusted by your sister s hand (Sophocles, Electra 13). Electra herself stays in the father s palace, but
she is no longer the lady there I labour in my father s house (Sophocles, Electra 183). So she has to
live with murderers and bear their treatment. The second reason to focus on Electra instead of Orestes
is her strength to fight against her own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Electra s attitude to the others is Sophocles s attitude and the only right position. Electra becomes the

but Electra is the force behind him. She says to Orestes: You never were your mother s boy so much as
mine (Sophocles, Electra 1113). At the end of the play, when the siblings are revenging, Electra is at
the height of her cruelty. It gets obvious that years of grief and torture have made her tough and
affected her mind, she has become obsessive with the idea of the revenge. But Sophocles asserts it is

Conformity and Obedience Essays
Conformity and Obedience Why do we conform? Two basic sources of influence: normative social
influence, the need to be liked, accepted by others and Informational influence: need to be correct and
to behave in accordance with reality. Solomon Asch (1956) devised an experiment to see if subjects
would conform even if they were uncertain that the group norm was incorrect. In his study he asked
subjects to take part in an experiment. They were each asked to match a standard length line with three
other lines. He found that one of the situational factors of conformity is the size of the opposing
majority. In a series of studies he varied the number of confederates that gave correct answers from 1

Moscovici found that consistency in the minority was important in winning over the majority with
respect to the colour of the slides. Not all decisions are made from a majority influence. For example,
the suffragettes started a movement in 1920 which changed the public and private opinion allowing
women to have the right to vote in western society. As long as a minority stick by four basic rules then
they stand a good chance of succeeding in their campaign. They need to be Consistent in their views,
Flexible not too rigid in their views, Committed to the cause until it s heard and Relevant, they have
more chance of being influential if their views are in line with social trends. Another experiment that
psychologists use in respect of conformity and obedience is an experiment that was carried out by a
psychologist named Stanley Milgram. He recruited 40 male participants by advertising for volunteers
to take part in a study to see how punishment affects learning. The study was to take place at Yale
University and everyone would be paid the same rate of $4.50 and they were informed that they would
still get paid if they quit during the study. There were two confederates one an experimenter and the
other a learner. The participants were always the teacher. The teacher was placed with the psychologist

Council Of Chalcedon Essay
However, a diverse group ranging from the monks at Constantinople to Egyptian bishops loyal to
Dioscorus opposed the definition. They considered themselves as Pro Nicene and anti Nestorian, but
they worried that the council was being heretic . Ultimately, the Chalcedonian definition stated that
after the incarnation, Christ was in two natures without mixture, change, division or separation .
Furthermore, part of the disagreement between the Eastern and Western Church was because the
definition stated that Christ is acknowledged in two natures, which come together into one person and
one hypostasis. The critics (some Eastern churches) understood this to side with western Christology,
they felt that it diverged from the teachings of Cyril of Alexandria who said that Christ has one nature.
The church of Alexandria felt that the definition should have stated that Christ is to be acknowledged
as out of two natures and not in two natures . However, some scholars argue that the language of two
natures also derives from Cyril . Ultimately, the assertion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the case of Nestorianism, if the incarnation was a case of a male son of Mary being indwelt by the
divine son of God, then Jesus Christ is not different from a Christian because Christians believe that
they are indwelt by the son. If that was the case, then the incarnation did not take place. This would
make the doctrine of atonement null and void because it would suggest that Christians were saved by a

My Native Costume By Gentileschi
Once, there was a woman who claimed that her identity is like the spirit of Caesar. She was raped
when she was nineteen, and public condemned her of losing her virtue, even though virtue is not a
woman s consumable good that can be achieved by purity or lost by accident. This reaction is similar
to that of school teacher in the poem of MartĂn Espada, My Native Costume. In the poem, the teacher
asks the writer to wear traditional costume for the students even though the writer defines himself as a
lawyer. She is full of prejudice that Puerto Rican people will always wear traditional clothes, but she
rather thinks that she is doing a good job for her students while saying the children want to see a
native costume (Espada). Probably the public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judith Slaying Holofernes is one of her masterpieces that has been acknowledged as a proper piece to
understand the main characteristics of her painting style. Carol Strickland, an American art historian,
explains that this painting shows how Gentileschi depicted her subject into the style of Caravaggio,
who was her father s teacher and famous for dramatic lightning (Strickland, 47). Based on these facts,
some critics conjecture that Gentileschi may just have borrowed the dramatic story from the Book of
Judith to express her technique that resembled that of Caravaggio. They argue that it is unreasonable
and too subjective to relate Judith Slaying Holofernes with the identity of Gentileschi. Identity of
Gentileschi, however, cannot be separated with the story of Judith and the painting Judith Slaying
Holofernes because Gentileschi s identity severely resembles that of Judith. Their struggle, success
leaded by their capacity, and destruction of the gender stereotypes are main common aspects that
Judith and Gentileschi share. These qualities further prove how Artemisia Gentileschi was an ideal
feminist who asserted her freedom inside an unfair

Characterism In Look Back In Anger By John Osborne
INTRODUCTION OF LOOK BACK IN ANGER The play Look Back in Anger (1956) is written by
John Osborne. The play is actually a love triangle involving an educated young man of working class
origin Jimmy Porter, his upper middle class wife Alison, and her haughty best friend Helena Charles.
Cliff, who is a true friend to both Jimmy and Alison, and attempts to keep the peace. The play was a
huge success on the stage, and initiated the term angry young men to describe Osborne and those of
his generation who employed this harshness of realism in the theatre. Look Back in Anger is
thoroughly an autobiographical play in one respect. The hero ... Show more content on

Osborne wrote the play to express what it felt like to live in England during the 1950s. In the earlier
times, very less attention was given to literature that reflected the treatment and living circumstances
experienced by the lower class people. John Osborne was one of the leading literary figures of the
Angry Young Men movement . As the Angry Young Men movement began to popularize these themes,
the acceptance of related issues became more and more widespread. Osborne depicted these issues
within his play through the eyes of his protagonist, Jimmy. Throughout the play, Jimmy was seeing the
wrong people go hungry, the wrong people be loved, the wrong people dying . Post world war, the
quality of life in England for lower class citizens was extremely poor; Osborne used this theme to
demonstrate how the state of Britain was guilty of neglect towards those that needed assistance the
most. In the play there are comparisons of educated people with savages, it also highlights the major
difference between classes. Alison remarks on this issue while she, Jimmy and cliff are sharing an
apartment, stating how she felt she had been placed into a jungle . Jimmy was represented as an
embodiment of the young, rebellious post war generation that questioned the state and its actions.
Look Back in Anger provided some of its audience with the hope that Osborne s work would bring
revolution in the British theatre and enable it to act as a

The Privacy Of The National Security
In an age of what appears to be increasing insecurity, Americans have to make a choice between being
secure and maintaining civil liberties, or leaving it up to the government to decide. The privacy of
Americans should be taken into more consideration when using surveillance and other methods to
watch the people. Privacy today faces growing threats from a developing surveillance apparatus that is
repeatedly justified in the name of the national security. Security is privileged over values, such as
civil liberties after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Due to this horrendous event, the national
government commenced its surveillance attack in hopes of stopping another terrorist outbreak from
happening, but it only created a divide within the American people. The government is trying to
rebuild the security that was lost ( Money ). Their plan involves increasing the surveillance, listening
to phone calls, and monitoring people s searches for keywords, and using the law to their advantage.
These measurements are exaggerated and unnecessary in order to protect Americans. The government
divided the nation through this act. In order to restore the nation to its proper standing, the first step to
fix the nation should have been the Patriot Act, which was put into place after 9/1l, but it is the Patriot
Act that actually started the divide of the people and government. The job of the Patriot Act was to
preserve life and liberty of the people of the United States. The Act

Overview PacMan is a relatively simple arcade style game in which the player controls the PacMan,
guiding him through a maze collecting food pills while avoiding the various ghosts present in the
game. Each of the ghosts present in the game have their own unique pattern of behavior. The red ghost

Additional sound has been added for the additions to the game. This is to add to the effect of the
fireball. Sounds has been added for the collection of the Power pill to indicate to the player that
something different to eating normal pills has happened. During the intro screen the original
soundtrack plays once the game starts though this sound is stopped. This is because the sound
triggered by PacMan eating the pills and the original soundtrack add up to become unpleasant at
normal speaker settings and there is no method within Game Maker to alter the balance. UI The UI is
very simple having only the score and the player s lives on the screen at the bottom below the maze.
This simple display is all that is needed as the only two factors the players needs is their current score

The contested election of 1876 has been pronounced by Historians, as one of the most hostile,
controversial, and most disputed presidential elections in American history. Representing the
Republicans was Samuel J. Tilden of New York and Rutherford B. Hayes of Ohio representing the
Democrats. With Hayes being outpolled in the popular vote, Tilden wins. With the recounting and

Essay On Stereotypes Of Boys
Many things and many problems appear to all people in all ages but when we say boys we talk about
our future and the main treasure, and here we talk about boys will be boys which refer to one thing.
we should treat boys according to their ages. Some boys find themselves depressed and want to
commit crimes, why? this is a result of not being able to live their childhood in societies which treat
them differently from girls. They are oppressed to act like real men not real boys; Subsequently we
find them hiding their emotions, lying to themselves and keeping silent. There are roles for family,
school and community to get rid off all the oppressive stereotypes associated with boys so we can
discover their merits and demerits. As one s family is usually closer, families should start by treating
boys with more kindness. Schools should recognise their abilities and communities should facilitates

They then start feeling isolated. This isolation evolves to depression. Depressed boys can commit
crimes, do strange acts, and rebel against all people whom they believe have wronged them.
Especially their parents.
Solutions:
The point here is how we can treat boys better. At first, we should acknowledge their needs, let them
express themselves, and we should let them live their ages. They can cry, they can love, and they can
hate. Schools should take extra steps in student care. Starting with its teachers, Teachers should
interact with boys and keep an eye on them if they showed aggression or violence. And if a boy
misbehaved, communication is key. The boy s family should be informed and a follow up from the
school is obligatory. Also communities should establish programs about how to communicate with
boys in different

Why Do A Shorter Work Day
I believe that a shorter work day is not going to work an here is my opinion on why. Poeple need to
work more hours a day because in my own expirence you dont have to rush to get a certain amount of
work done within a limited time and the more hours you work the more you are likley to make. For
example if your hourly wages are thirteen dollars an hour and you work eight hours a day for five days
that will be forty hours a week resulting in a pay day of five hundred and thirty dollars but even if you
subtract a hundred in taxes that would leave you with the amount of four hundred and thirty dollars.

The comparison between John Milton s Paradise Lost and...
Of Things Invisible to Mortal SightThe Holy Bible is in many ways a story of origins. The history
recounted both in the Old and New Testaments has at its base the perception of a fallen humanity;
beginning with the fall from Eden and the nature of evil, to the means of regaining Gods grace and the
discussion of free will, it emphasizes humanitys inability to fully comprehend the nature of God and
of the universe. In writing his epic Paradise Lost, John Milton is fully aware of his limitations as a
mortal man; however, in an attempt to transcend the finite to the infinite, to describe the indescribable
and to understand the unknown, Milton bases his arguments on Biblical theology to show that
mankind has fallen from immortality to mortality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though this event is mentioned often within the Holy Bible Milton expounds upon it and
dedicates the first two books of Paradise Lost entirely to a description of hell and Satans plan to tempt
humanity. It can be assumed that Milton basses his arguments on one of the more detailed descriptions
of Satan that can be found in the book of Isaiah, chapter 14:12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O
Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of
God 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds: I will be like the most High.
Milton draws his inspiration from these verses in describing Satans pride and his attempt to wage war
in heaven. However, in his attempt to make Paradise Lost both a conversation and a narration, Milton
decides to describe Satans descend from heaven in closer detail, even with the risk of committing
sacrilege.
The first difference between Miltons epic and the Holy Bible is seen as Milton begins the narration in
hell; just moments before, Satan and his following angels are thrown out from heaven because of
disobedience. Miltons main purpose is to juxtapose the fallen natures of the demons with that of
humanity and to show the inferior natures of people to that of angels.

  • 2. The Parody Of The White Man s Burden In early 1899, near the beginning of the Philippine American war, Rudyard Kipling wrote his highly controversial poem, The White Man s Burden. As the title suggests, Kipling wrote this piece to explain the hardships that come with having captives. Also, a few months later an editorial piece was written in order to explain the underlying meaning of the poem. Unsurprisingly, The White Man s Burden started an uproar and received many responses, notably one titled The Black Man s Burden. This piece is essentially a parody written to expose the privilege of the original. First of all, the The White Man s Burden is privileged before anything else. For example, Go send your sons to exile/ To serve your captives need... Kipling saw it as the inherent burden of white men to send their sons to take over other countries, or as T. Thomas Fortune stated in the editorial, it s the white man s burden is the voluntary and violent assumption of sovereignty over black and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a parody, the goal of this piece is to delegitimize its predecessor. Specifically, the poem mocks the idea that white imperialists are burdened. For example, Hail ye your fearless armies,/ Which menace feeble folks. The author then explains that the natives use bows and arrows and are no match for the invader s rifles. It is also worth noting that the clergyman repeated pile on the Black Man s Burden, which is most certainly a jab at Take on the White Man s Burden. In comparison, pile on has a much more cumbersome connotation, while take on is not cumbersome at all and is actually voluntary. Keeping with the idea of the voluntarism of imperialism, T. Thomas Fortune spoke of a similar theme in his editorial, Nobody has asked the white races to rob and enslave the black and yellow races of earth, thus imperialism is ... • 3. Summary Of Appiah s Kindness To Strangers If faced with globalization, these people may move away or even learn different languages and just generally become different. This, in Appiah s view, is not something that we should prevent from happening because within these tiny homogenous pockets are people that long to be different therefore, by allowing contamination to occur, you allow people to shape their own lives instead of them being oppressed into a cultural homogeneity: there is no place for the enforcement of diversity by trapping people within a kind of difference they long to escape. (105) Kindness to Strangers In this last chapter, Appiah discusses the stranger kindness predicament in which there is a dilemma about how, and when strangers should commit acts of kindness ... • 4. Marx and Durkheim’s Views Contributed to our Understanding... How have Marx and Durkheim s Views Contributed to our Understanding of Crime and Deviance? Karl Marx s Marxist theory and Emile Durkheim s functionalist theory were both significant in their own ways and therefore made a large contribution to our perception and understanding of how crime and deviance occurs and is dealt with in society. The Marxist theory on crime was focused on the concept that the huge shift towards a capitalist society was the root cause and driving force behind the formation of social divisions and subsequent increase in crime and conflict. Willem Bonger expanded on the Marxist theory by explaining that the capitalist shifts lead the law to focus on the proletariat divisions as the deviant members of society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believed that the presence of deviance in society allows moral borders and boundaries to be structured around social assumptions of deviant behaviours and what s considered right and wrong. The subsequent responses to these types of behaviours promote social unity and encourage social change. David Downes and Paul Rock proposed that crime should be viewed and a necessary factor that is a healthy social phenomenon in societies. This shows that Durkheim sparked the recognition that crime should be viewed as a healthy normality at sensible levels, rather than is being viewed as a solely negative factor that brings society down. Crime and deviance is supposedly is key to regularity in society, it provides a huge amount of public understanding and social acceptance to the existence of crime. In doing this Durkheim allowed a new understanding that crime was something not to be assumed as something that should be feared within society because it is in actual fact A normal product of stable institutions . This was an entirely new and innovative concept at the time of the theory of functionalisms introduction, people lived in fear of crime and people who possess deviant characteristics. Neo Durkheimian theories have also been extremely helpful in explanations of how we understand Durkheim s theory of functionalism and how it s been incorporated it in to today s society. They emphasise on the fact that acts of deviance increase levels ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Operation Desert War In August 1990, a great threat was before the United States as Saddam Hussein was rallying his army to storm Kuwait. The threat was a major problem since Kuwait was a major supplier of oil. (ushistory.org) Hussein was not only hostile towards Kuwait, but he was also threatening Saudi Arabia. (ushistory.org) Just like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia is also a major oil supplier to the United States. If Iraq took control of both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, Iraq would control one fifth of the world s oil supply. (ushistory.org) This will not stand, said former President George Bush, speaking on the orders of Saddam Hussein, dictator of Iraq, to send his army into Kuwait. Without the effects of operation desert shield, desert storm air, and desert storm land attacks, the Persian Gulf War would have been very different. In the following months of the war, the United States sent troops to help defend against Iraq. It was deemed Operation Desert Shield. Over five hundred thousand American troops were deployed to Kuwait to help defend Iraqi troops. • 6. Rate of Juvenile Offenses and the Juvenile Justice System Palm Beach County, Fla. On May 26, 2000, 13 year old Nathaniel Brazill shot his teacher, Barry Grunow, with a .25 caliber handgun in school. Palm Beach County prosecutors tried Brazill as an adult for first degree murder. The jury found Brazill guilty of second degree murder and the judge sentenced him to 28 years in an adult facility. After his release, Brazill will face two years of house arrest and five years of probation. (Klug) Does this sentence appear too severe, or perhaps too tolerant? Without understanding all of the specifics involved in the case, it may be harder to conclude what would be the best thing to do with 13 year old Brazill. One of the main factors that cause the complexity is that with each approach come certain doctrines on the differences between juveniles and adults; but more importantly, how these dissimilarities should affect legal policies. It will be up to voters, legislators, and groups to conclude what steps we will take to curb the growing tendency of juvenile misdeed and aggression. Imagining juvenile delinquents as our own younger siblings, or possibly our own children gone astray will help us to make the strong conclusions engaged in treating juvenile delinquents. As school students, we are the next generation of voters, legislators, and public leaders. In alignment for us to make the best conclusions for troubled adolescents we must be acquainted of the numerous ways we can go about handling juvenile delinquents. Each method of treatment is quite perplexed so we must take care to realize the issues to the fullest possible span. To double check that juvenile delinquents are being treated fairly, we must make our conclusions with as much concern for their well being as we can, as well as keeping in mind the best concerns of humanity. As voters, we can start to form policies in the ways we see fit for battling juvenile offenses and aggression. Can you imagine a situation where an entertainment industry designed or created a video game where you were allowed to kill any police officers by set them on fire, massacre them using rifles and chainsaws? Do you think that anyone wanted to buy that kind of games? The answer is yes and they already did. 1. Did you know the worldwide sale of a violent game named Grand Theft Auto has sold nearly $2.3 billion? According to a CBS news article with a title Can a Video Game Relate to Murder , Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is a video game where the players can live in a world administered by the laws of depravity. So, for me, banning the sale of violent video games to minors is one of the best prevention methods to put an end to this problem. 1. This legislation is to strengthen the present industry controlled rating system and to ban the sale or rental any video games that are excessively violent that consist killing, hurting, dissecting or sexually assaulting an image of a human being to those who were under 18 (Mears). 2. Retailers who violate this law will be fine and it also requires the game maker to put an 18 label on greatly violent video games (Mears). 3. This legislation is really beneficial to our society as it can prevent youths in our community to get engaged in any violent acts caused by video games influence. Restriction may not be a good solution as there are some parents that do not care what their children do; they just allow their children to do whatever they want. But, with government involvement, it was harder for the minors to get access to the violent video games. Now, you all can see that banning of the sale of violent video games to minors is the best way that we can do, as there are no other efficient ways to put an end to this problem. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Online Education As the online scene is rapidly prevailing in our everyday life, the traditional form of face to face learning is slowly shifting its practice towards online learning. However, even though it sounds appealing, students need to consider the advantages and features of face to face learning which cannot be found online. However, some universities charge more for online courses as they cost more to develop and maintain. Aside from this, another thing important to discuss are online degrees. As shown by research, employers do not value online degrees as much as they do degrees earned through traditional institutions. In such a case, students who earn their degrees online are at a disadvantage when seeking employment. The principal reason for this are the many fraudulent establishments which take advantage of the increasing number of students willing to pay online. Employers, therefore, question these degrees earned from unfamiliar institutions. Before enrolling in a program, students have to make sure that school is accredited. Future Expansion: This project could also include a multimeter and curve tracer. It could also be improved by having a higher voltage and a better regulated power supply. The function generator could also have higher bandwidth and frequency. Cost: Estimated total cost is $316. Introduction: When we visualized our senior project, we decided that engineering and electronic students in college could make use of portable, inexpensive, simple equipment in order to demonstrate concepts off campus. This equipment would not necessarily have all of the functionality and versatility of the lab equipment, but it would be useful in demonstrating concepts. The current lab equipment is great for school, but if students have a need to use the equipment at home such as to finish labs, learn more, or just hobby use, they are left without an inexpensive alternative with the equipment currently on the market. Our solution was to address these issues with our project which we named Lab In A Box. This would allow students to have a portable oscilloscope, power supply, and function generator at a greatly reduced cost. The labs performed usually only requires low bandwidth and low voltage equipment. The power supplies in the labs are DC with the capability of +6V and ±25V. The function generator is a 15MHz waveform generator that is capable of sine, square, triangle, and saw tooth waveforms. The

  • 12. The Development Of Self Regulation Amongst Children The development of self regulation amongst children is complex and influenced by a large number of factors such as attunement, family routine, language development, and social interaction, to name just a few (Kopp, 1982). Given these factors are likely influenced by early parent child interactions, and since it s widely known that culture influences parental values and beliefs, one can expect to notice a large difference when comparing parental styles between two contrasting cultures, such as Japan and the United States. Furthermore, it would be expected to find a difference in the development of self regulation between Japanese and American children. Why is Amae important? Amae is a Japanese word lacking an English equivalent, however, in short, is defined as passive love and is often used when describing the most important relationship in Japanese culture: the parent child relationship (Doi, 1973, p. 18). The concept is very much hierarchical and the verb form, amaeru means to seek to fill the desire to be taken care of by someone of authority (Doi, 1973, p. 29). Though the concept of amae is not exclusive to Japanese culture, Japanese is the only language to have a word for it (Doi, 1973, p. 18). Amae is important to understand because it s at the core of Japanese culture, and is an essential part to the Japanese definition of love, extending beyond the mother child relationship and being valued and accepted in any type of adult relationships (Doi, 1973, p. 21). ... • 13. Improving Access For Voluntary Family Planning More than 200 million women in developing countries who want to avoid or delay pregnancy are not using family planning. These women have an unmet need that can result in unintended pregnancies, unsafe abortions, poor health, and strains on families and economies. Improving access to voluntary family planning could mitigate these challenges and lead to a host of other benefits. (Source 22, 23, 25). Given the potential of family planning for far reaching health, development, and economic gains, governments and their development partners should consider strengthening efforts and looking for new ways to increase the uptake and quality of family planning services. To this effect, the main program approaches that led to increases in contraceptive use included development approaches and supply side interventions. This attention to rigor of family planning evaluations will increase accountability, improve program decision making, and in the end, improve maternal and infant health outcomes. (Source 12) As revealed in various reports both demand and supply side interventions were found to be generally successful in increasing knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and discussions around family planning as well as increasing contraceptive use. These impacts are often a result of programs that have taken into account the importance of various approaches to reaching women and couples with family planning products and services, providing quality information and service delivery, addressing ... Throughout the internship as the semester was ending I began to see a difference in the way I was treated by the workers and I began to notice a difference in the attitudes of my co workers. Maybe it was just because the end of the year was coming and stress from outside the work area was entering the office. Anyhow the drama created by the stress levels of the co workers personal and work life created many flaws within the office that I feel need to be addressed. The office is full of problems but financing is not one of those problems. The agency holds 8 civil law attorneys who pay the business half of all their attorney fees, which can accumulate a lot over a calendar year. This allows the agency to keep up to date technology in every office. Since money is not a problem with the firm the main problems faced are the internal issues of the employees. One of the problems we have is the drama and ill mannered attitudes that is shown towards other employees. For not being employed very long at the firm I have seen and heard some disturbing rumors about people that I work with. • 17. The Tragedy Of King Lear By William Shakespeare In the eyes of many, the world might appear to entail solely happiness and prosperity. Beyond the oblivion is arguably a more practical depiction of real life, filled with cold truths and merciless mistakes. Few figures in history have captured this essence of reality to such a high degree as Aristotle, a revolutionary thinker whose ideas shaped Greek tragedy. Within his theory of tragedy is the concept of the tragic hero, whose great, ironic flaw leads to his own downfall. The tragic hero is of an elevated position in society but should, all the same, be a character with whom the audience can relate. The hero undergoes a massive revelation and experiences dramatic enlightenment. The tragedy of King Lear, written by William Shakespeare, illustrates the story of a proud and self centered king, whose obtuse judgement shapes his demise. Lear s impulsive actions catalyze a chain of events, inspiring emotion from the characters and the audience alike. On the surface, King Lear fits the description of Aristotle s tragic hero. Discrepancies in Lear s tale, however, contradict the idea of an idyllic relationship between Lear and the philosophies of Aristotle. Lear s faults correspond to those of the audience, but their extremity proves to be unique. One might think King Lear becomes cognizant of his decisions, but his fall to insanity acts in conflict. The lack of catharsis in King Lear also precipitates the build up of negative sentiment. Although King Lear is meant to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. An Analysis Of William Faulkner And Ernest Hemingway William Faulkner and Ernest Hemingway were both wonderfully gifted and talented writers in their time. In As I Lay Dying and A Farewell to Arms, one can see the similarities and differences between Faulkner and Hemingway through their ability to draw from personal experiences to inspire their work, their narrative styles, and their use of language. William Faulkner was born in New Albany, Mississippi and trained as a pilot in the first Royal Canadian Air Force during World War 1. After the war, Faulkner began writing again. A friend told Faulkner to write about his native Mississippi. Inspired by the concept, Faulkner began writing about the places and people of his childhood, developing many colorful characters based on the real people he grew up with or heard about. Many of Faulkner s most successful pieces, including As I Lay Dying, took place in Yoknapatawpha County a place nearly identical to where he was raised. (Biography.com). Ernest Hemingway s background, while different from Faulkner s, also inspired his writing. He was working for a newspaper in Kansas City, when a friend suggested Hemingway volunteer for the American Field Service as an ambulance driver. In Europe, Hemingway had many of the experiences he used to pull from in writing A Farewell to Arms, including being wounded by a projectile exploding in the trenches and falling in love with a nurse who would become the model for Catherine Barkley (Roberts). Three great Athenian tragic poets Aeschylus, Sophocles and Euripides addressed to the myth about the killing of Clytemnestra by Orestes. Sophocles s Electra is one of the interpretations of this legend. Although the avenging one is Orestes, Sophocles brings Electra to the fore because of her endless hatred and the will to take her revenge against her father s murderers. First of all, Electra saves young Orestes from their mother Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus who have killed Agamemnon Electra and Orestes s father. Paedagogus says: I rescued you, entrusted by your sister s hand (Sophocles, Electra 13). Electra herself stays in the father s palace, but she is no longer the lady there I labour in my father s house (Sophocles, Electra 183). So she has to live with murderers and bear their treatment. Two basic sources of influence: normative social influence, the need to be liked, accepted by others and Informational influence: need to be correct and to behave in accordance with reality. Solomon Asch (1956) devised an experiment to see if subjects would conform even if they were uncertain that the group norm was incorrect. In his study he asked subjects to take part in an experiment. They were each asked to match a standard length line with three other lines. He found that one of the situational factors of conformity is the size of the opposing majority. As long as a minority stick by four basic rules then they stand a good chance of succeeding in their campaign. They need to be Consistent in their views, Flexible not too rigid in their views, Committed to the cause until it s heard and Relevant, they have more chance of being influential if their views are in line with social trends. Another experiment that psychologists use in respect of conformity and obedience is an experiment that was carried out by a psychologist named Stanley Milgram. He recruited 40 male participants by advertising for volunteers to take part in a study to see how punishment affects learning. The study was to take place at Yale University and everyone would be paid the same rate of $4.50 and they were informed that they would still get paid if they quit during the study. They considered themselves as Pro Nicene and anti Nestorian, but they worried that the council was being heretic . Ultimately, the Chalcedonian definition stated that after the incarnation, Christ was in two natures without mixture, change, division or separation . Furthermore, part of the disagreement between the Eastern and Western Church was because the definition stated that Christ is acknowledged in two natures, which come together into one person and one hypostasis. The critics (some Eastern churches) understood this to side with western Christology, they felt that it diverged from the teachings of Cyril of Alexandria who said that Christ has one nature. Judith Slaying Holofernes is one of her masterpieces that has been acknowledged as a proper piece to understand the main characteristics of her painting style. Carol Strickland, an American art historian, explains that this painting shows how Gentileschi depicted her subject into the style of Caravaggio, who was her father s teacher and famous for dramatic lightning (Strickland, 47). Based on these facts, some critics conjecture that Gentileschi may just have borrowed the dramatic story from the Book of Judith to express her technique that resembled that of Caravaggio. They argue that it is unreasonable and too subjective to relate Judith Slaying Holofernes with the identity of Gentileschi. Identity of Gentileschi, however, cannot be separated with the story of Judith and the painting Judith Slaying Holofernes because Gentileschi s identity severely resembles that of Judith. Their struggle, success leaded by their capacity, and destruction of the gender stereotypes are main common aspects that Judith and Gentileschi share. Osborne wrote the play to express what it felt like to live in England during the 1950s. In the earlier times, very less attention was given to literature that reflected the treatment and living circumstances experienced by the lower class people. John Osborne was one of the leading literary figures of the Angry Young Men movement . As the Angry Young Men movement began to popularize these themes, the acceptance of related issues became more and more widespread. Osborne depicted these issues within his play through the eyes of his protagonist, Jimmy. Throughout the play, Jimmy was seeing the wrong people go hungry, the wrong people be loved, the wrong people dying . Post world war, the quality of life in England for lower class citizens was extremely poor; Osborne used this theme to demonstrate how the state of Britain was guilty of neglect towards those that needed assistance the most. In the play there are comparisons of educated people with savages, it also highlights the major difference between classes. Alison remarks on this issue while she, Jimmy and cliff are sharing an apartment, stating how she felt she had been placed into a jungle . Privacy today faces growing threats from a developing surveillance apparatus that is repeatedly justified in the name of the national security. Poeple need to work more hours a day because in my own expirence you dont have to rush to get a certain amount of work done within a limited time and the more hours you work the more you are likley to make. For example if your hourly wages are thirteen dollars an hour and you work eight hours a day for five days that will be forty hours a week resulting in a pay day of five hundred and thirty dollars but even if you subtract a hundred in taxes that would leave you with the amount of four hundred and thirty dollars. Know for say you are working a six hour shift with the wages of eighteen dollars an hour for five days so once its all said and done on pay day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. The comparison between John Milton s Paradise Lost and... Of Things Invisible to Mortal SightThe Holy Bible is in many ways a story of origins. The history recounted both in the Old and New Testaments has at its base the perception of a fallen humanity; beginning with the fall from Eden and the nature of evil, to the means of regaining Gods grace and the discussion of free will, it emphasizes humanitys inability to fully comprehend the nature of God and of the universe. In writing his epic Paradise Lost, John Milton is fully aware of his limitations as a mortal man; however, in an attempt to transcend the finite to the infinite, to describe the indescribable and to understand the unknown, Milton bases his arguments on Biblical theology to show that mankind has fallen from immortality to mortality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though this event is mentioned often within the Holy Bible Milton expounds upon it and dedicates the first two books of Paradise Lost entirely to a description of hell and Satans plan to tempt humanity. It can be assumed that Milton basses his arguments on one of the more detailed descriptions of Satan that can be found in the book of Isaiah, chapter 14:12. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds: I will be like the most High. Milton draws his inspiration from these verses in describing Satans pride and his attempt to wage war in heaven. However, in his attempt to make Paradise Lost both a conversation and a narration, Milton decides to describe Satans descend from heaven in closer detail, even with the risk of committing sacrilege. The first difference between Miltons epic and the Holy Bible is seen as Milton begins the narration in hell; just moments before, Satan and his following angels are thrown out from heaven because of disobedience. Miltons main purpose is to juxtapose the fallen natures of the demons with that of humanity and to show the inferior natures of people to that of angels. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
