Muscle Contraction System
Intro: The heart has a clear function, which is to constantly pump blood through the body into every
organ that consists of cells. Blood is transported through the body with veins and arteries that are set
up through the body, one having oxygenated blood flowing into the body while the other is poor on
oxygen heading into the lungs for gas exchanges. These pumps the hearts emulates are caused by
electrical stimulation, which produce muscle contraction.
The cardiac cycle has a regular pattern that is determined by electrical activity. It all starts at (SA)
node which is located in the right and left atrium, the also know as the natural peacemaker, where
electrical signals originate. Next, the (AV) node or the Atrioventicular node located on the opposite
side of the (SA) node near the AV valves. The (AV) node serves as a bridge between the atrium and
the ventricle, delaying the electrical impulses to ensure that the atria have completely pump the blood
before the ventricle contraction. Electric signal from the That started from the (SA) node soon reach
the Atrioventicular bundle or referred to as the (AV) bundle which is divided into the right and the left
bundle branches created a path of impulses to the apex, then spreading throughout the myocardium
soon after passing through the purkinje fibers. While the heart goes through this process a certain
machine called ECG recording apparatus records the waves PQRST, which is the pattern of the
cardiac cycle. In the PQRST P represents the contraction of the atria and its usually the beginning of
the cardiac cycle. QRS illustrates the contraction of both ventricles and also shows the completion of
the cardiac depolarization. Finally the T wave represents the relaxation of the ventricles and it s the

Prejudice In The Lion King
My process of semiosis is one of peaceful tranquility. In Dustin Kaufman s creative, semiotic process,
there is no cacophonous storm that immediately follows the relaxing calm nature in which I strive to
work. There is just that: calm. Ironically, my work is almost entirely made up of calamitous actions.
Guns, death, and blood. Bullets tear through flesh in an orgy of stylish gore; a rape of the senses. The
kind of stuff that sends shivers speeding up the spines of the decent and politically correct whilst

Christmas In Kalahari
Eating Christmas in the Kalahari is an anthropological study conducted on the !Kung Bushmen
society by Richard Lee. Lee lived among the !Kung for three years to learn more about their hunter
gatherer society. In this essay, I intend to analyze Lee s research and validate the reasoning for the
!Kung s criticism towards Lee s generous offer of the ox.
The !Kung are a society within the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, Africa. They are an egalitarian
society, meaning that there is no leader, chief or president that dictates the decisions made on behalf of
the society as a whole. The major decisions for the !Kung are made by the elders of the society and all
members are viewed and treated as equals. The !Kung are also a hunter gatherer society. ... Show more

The !Kung s idea of the Christmas story essentially boiled down to praising the birth of white man s
god chief. The !Kung had very little interest in the holiday besides the Tswana Herero custom of
slaughtering an ox for their Bushmen neighbors as a gesture of goodwill. Since the 1930 s, part of the
Bushmen s annual round of activities has included a December congregation at the cattle posts for
trading, marriage brokering and several days of trance dance feasting at which the local Tswana
headman is host.
*Lee went to Botswana to visit the !Kung society in order to study their hunting and gathering
subsistence economy. In order to accomplish this, it was essential for Lee not to intrude on their hunter
gatherer system by providing them with food, sharing his food or interfere with their food gathering
activities in any way. However, scarce handouts of tobacco and medical supplies were appreciated,
they were scarcely adequate to erase the glaring disparity
in wealth between the rich anthropologist who maintained a two month inventory of canned goods and
the Bushmen who rarely had a day s supply of food on

Identity Crisis In Where Shall We Go This Summer
Where Shall We Go This Summer?
Desai s novel Where Shall We Go This Summer? an illustrious novel, deals with the story of an
oppressed mind. It depicts an intense identity crisis of the protagonist, Sita, a sensitive woman at her
early forties who finds herself alienated from her husband and children. Sita is hypersensitive and she
is incapable of looking at things in the normal way. In the first part of the novel entitled Monsoon 67 ,
she is shown as married to a prosperous businessman, Raman. She had had four children with pride
and pleasure sensual, emotional, Freudian, every kind of pleasure with all the placid serenity that
supposedly goes with pregnancy and parturition (29). She is now pregnant with fifth child. At this

leaves a big question mark. The name itself is suggestive of an escape from the summer that stands for
the raging inner tension, frustration, disappointment, mental discord and disharmony of the inner
consciousness of Sita. Anita Desai views the violence through the eyes of a woman in the limited area
of her domestic relationship. Desai concludes this novel with Sita s recovery from her plunge into
existential nullity. Sita as a broken bird of the seashore analyzes the cause of her anxiety and neurotic
behavior and learns to cultivate the art of survival in the destined life. Her triumph over her illusions
renders the island devoid of its powers and miracles. Sita realizes that the part is irrevocable therefore
it is useless to go back to it. Her diminished ego paves way for her becoming conscious of human
relationship. The realization that her escape from the realities of life would not offer any solution to
her spiritual impasses makes her regain, her lost faith. Sita is bold enough, first to protest against her
circumstances, and then taking the blame on herself for being a coward and not facing reality. Desai s
pre occupation with the woman s inner world, frustration and storm raging inside her mind intensify
her predicament. She also excels in elaborating the miserable position of highly sensitive and
emotional women tortured by negligence and loneliness. She is excellent in depicting the

U.s. Federal Reserve Act Essay
Using Sources A, B, and C and your own knowledge account for the founding of the U.S. Federal
Reserve and analyze how its role in economic policy has developed since then.
In the late 1800s and early 1900s the United States experienced numerous banking panics ultimately
leading to a massive crisis in 1907 which would motivate Congress to pass the Federal Reserve Act.
President Woodrow Wilson would sign the act in December of 1913 (McBride Sergie, 2015). The
Federal Reserve would mean a centralized banking system for the United States.
This was not the first attempt at centralized banking, Alexander Hamilton, the first Treasury secretary,
expressed that a national bank would stabilize the new governments shaky credit and support a
stronger economy. Hamilton faced opposition, primarily from the South, where lawmakers assumed a
central bank would be beneficial only to the North. Hamilton would have his way and Congress would
establish the Frist Bank of the United States in 1791. In 1811, the bank s charter would expire and
Congress would refuse to renew it by just one vote (Irwin, 2013). The Second Bank of the US would
be necessary in 1816 as a result of the War of 1812. President Madison would realize that it would be
too hard to fight a war without a national bank to fund the government. Again, in 1836, Andrew
Jackson would be in office and see to the demise of the Second Bank.
This was an era when anyone could print money, and they would. It would become clear

Argumentative Essay On Comedy
Comedy is defined as professional entertainment consisting of jokes and satirical sketches, intended to
make an audience laugh. Comedy is meant to make you laugh, whether it is a joke against the world or
the comedian is using themselves or their personal experiences to get an audience to relate to it,
making them laugh. Comedians use different techniques to connect with their audience. According to
Mel Brooks, Humor is just another defense against the universe. Many comedians such as, George
Carlin, Demetri Martin, and Christopher Titus are well known comedians that use these methods to get
a laugh from their audience, but to also make a point to their audience. Humor is a defense mechanism
that most comedians use to cope with problems they have had in their past or issues they have with the
world. Christopher Titus is an Emmy Award winning comedian. Christopher Titus did not grow up in
your ideal house. His parents were divorced, his mother, Juanita had schizophrenia and eventually
committed suicide. His dad, Ken, was in and out of relationships and divorced five times. His sister,
Kirsten, also committed suicide. Christopher Titus was an alcoholic himself until one day he fell into a

Omelas Utilitarianism
The Omelas behavior is considered moral through utilitarianism. In the textbook, utilitarianism is
defined as the sum of individual pleasures and pains. It is not my pleasures or pains that matter but the
cumulative happiness of a number of people (MacKinnon 93). Under this, it is just for the Omelas to
make one child suffer to maintain the happiness of the society. Utilitarianism is better explained and
supported by the trolley problem, a hypothetical case where you have the power to allow a trolley to
kill five workers or one worker by pulling a switch. According to utilitarianism, you would not only be
permitted, but required to pull the switch, which would result in one death and five lives saved
(MacKinnon 100). By losing one life

The Quintessential American Woman Essay
The Quintessential American Woman
The American woman is a mystery that has yet to be solved. She is an ever changing poem that sparks
interest in those who are unaccustomed to her mysterious ways. The American women fascinated
many authors, including Henry James. To express his enthrallment, James employed his literary talent
to create Daisy Miller. Daisy exudes the vast depth of the entity of the American woman, which
originally captured James attention. John Hay, a contemporary observer of American manners and
mores stated of the American woman, Her conduct is without blemish, according to the rural
American standard, and she knows no other (qtd. in Fogel 52). James s Daisy Miller depicts the
innocence of the American woman, with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She parades about without a chaperone, and flaunts her friendships to men, thereby presenting herself
to others as a tramp. Evidence for this is found in the novella wherein Winterbourne ponders, Was she
simply a pretty girl from New York State...or was she also a designing, an audacious, an unscrupulous
young person (James 57). Daisy seems pure and innocent, but her behavior is so unrefined leaving her
open to suspicions of crudity. As Daisy can be said to personify the American woman, such qualities
of innocence and crudity can be said to apply to the American woman as well. Daisy s purity is further
explored in her dealings with the few expatriate Americans that she encounters in Europe. The
characteristics of the expatriates consist of familiarity with American social behavior, although
European social behavior is favored. This adds to the contrast between the American and European
social standard. Mrs. Walker, an American expatriate, is a perfect example of the difference between
the standards of America and Europe. After sympathizing with Daisy s behavioral ignorance, Mrs.
Walker attempts to help Daisy from further ruining her fast developing reputation. Daisy s refusal to
accept advice creates additional isolation from the social society in Europe for her. In a compilation of
commentary on Daisy Miller, Albert Mordell writes, One of the most successful touches in the story is

Comparisons of the Natural World

Comparisons of the Natural World Up until the 17th Century, an understanding of the natural world
and how it operates was very limited and the general consensus was that there was God, and all things
were created by him in a hierarchical order that sustained the balance of man. Although these Gods
varied between ethnicities and religions, the general idea of a creator is consistent. However, with the
extent of experiences and experimentation of Galileo, Bacon and Newton, the world was able to
explore a new realm of reality in scientific discovery and analysis. Although the works of Galileo,
Bacon and Newton can be compared with each other in regard to the idea of experimentation and ...

Francis Bacon is better known for his theories that man will better understand nature if he uses the
mind as a tool rather than rely entirely on scientific discovery. It is Bacon that attempts to connect the
science and understanding of the physical world with society. Bacon s Novum Organum lists a series
of aphorisms by which man should abide by in order to attain a better understanding of the natural
world. These aphorisms are a guide to accepting science as the entire truth of the natural world. His
writings are peculiar because he lays down these guidelines and within them there seems to be a
constant message that instructs doubt in scientific experimentation, where Bacon himself is a scientist
that utilizes the use of experimentation and scientific method. Moreover, he outlines the four classes
of idols that effect the thought and minds of man, I have assigned names, calling the first class Idols of
the Tribe; the second, Idols of the cave; the third, Idols of the Marketplace; the fourth, Idols of the
Theatre (TOM 29). The first idol describes the need for man to distort and discolor nature by
enforcing his own nature upon it. This idol can be seen constantly throughout scientists research as
they constantly draw their own conclusions upon constant experimentation, much like the works of

Suu Kyi s Story Is One That Will Never Be Forgotten
Myanmar, formerly known as Burma is a country located in South East Asia. It is here, from the years
1962 onwards, that we have used as our example of a breach of humans rights, as a government
abuses its power and brings a country to ashes, and how one individual has made an astounding
impact to change the lives of those affected for the better. Aung San Suu Kyi s story is one that will
never be forgotten. This is a woman, who sacrificed her freedom, for the country Burma s rights for a
non violent democratic government. And so the story goes.

When she returned she found widespread slaughter of protestors rallying against the brutal dictator U
Ne Win. Outraged by this violence she spoke out against him and initiated a nonviolent movement
toward achieving democracy and human rights. Soon, her efforts were noticed and in July 1989 the
Junta military government placed Suu Kyi under house arrest and cut off any communication she
might have had with the outside world. The Union military told Suu Kyi that she would be set free
under the conditions that she agreed to leave the country, but she refused to do so insisting that she
would continue her struggle until the junta released the country to a civilian government and freed
their political prisoners.
This was the first sacrifice Aung San Suu Kyi made for her country. Instead of leaving, and pretending
that Burma s troubles were no longer hers, she stayed. She stayed to make a difference. For 6 years,
she stayed in house arrest.
In 1990 a parliamentary election was held, and the party that Aung San Suu Kyi was associated, called
the National League for Democracy, won with 80% votes in their favour. However, the Junta military
government overruled these results, and 20 years later declared them invalid.
Although she was unable to personally stand up to the government while she was in house arrest,
people all across the globe were beginning to take note of her. Suu Kyi was awarded a human rights
prize, known as the Rafto Prize in 1990.

Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction
According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous
conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) .
When applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as
well as reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. These improvements
are derived from the elimination, and consolidation, of redundant activities and tasks between the
operations of disparate business units. In the following paragraphs, I will describe how and when
synergies are used to initiate certain business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have
become focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as
operating synergies. Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to
increase cash flow or reduce the firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies
provide the justification to enact the reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite
the importance of operating synergies to the organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will
focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In
a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea
that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual components is the driving assumption
behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s corporate climate, synergies are
at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement internally generated
(organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business combinations. The
goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns generated by
each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased
revenues, and in some instances a

The Problem Of West Mendham
In theory and in practice, it is always a dangerous idea to look the other way in order to fulfil one s
own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous when a casting body of authority decides to turn a blind
eye because they perceive the benefits to outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town
decision makers of West Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by short term gains and thus
fail to see the long term effect of the agreement made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say
development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is. However, with
development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West Mendham is willing to undertake in
order to achieve short term economic gains.
Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear understanding of
the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a floodwall. The construction of the wall will have
both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless, the immediate advantage of the wall will be to protect
the inland side of the wall from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West
Mendham where space is limited. In an event of a flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable
mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be limited. These are of
course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its construction.
However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and additional

Frederick Douglass Views On Religion
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: Religious Life Frederick Douglass was an important
leader who helped fight for slaves freedom in the 19th Century. Religion played a major role in Mr.
Douglass s life. In his autobiography, he describes his daily struggles of being a slave and how he
escaped to freedom. In his narrative, he explains the way his masters would beat, rape, and murder
slaves, but only to use their Christian beliefs to explain why they did it and basically use it as an
excuse. Douglass himself was also a Christian and explains in his autobiography that the religious
views of the masters were very different from the religious views the slaves had. Frederick Douglass
composed his autobiography to explain that the master s view of Christianity was unholy and if there
was no change to be made, it could continue and lead to an increase in sacrilegious acts. Slave owners
used Christianity as an excuse for the awful ways they treated their slaves. Christianity played a major
role on the increase of brutality and violence that spirited the slave owners. The scriptures in the Bible
were twisted in the eyes of slave owners to how they wanted to interpret them. Douglass had a
powerful experience with one of his masters, Thomas Auld. Mr. Auld was not a religious person and
treated the slaves very poorly. In August 1832, Auld attended a Methodist camp meeting and that
marked the day when he became religious, and suddenly even more cruel. Prior to his conversion, he
relied upon his own depravity to shield and sustain him in his savage barbarity; but after his
conversion, he found religious sanction and support for his slaveholding cruelty. After becoming
religious, Auld uses scripture to justify his cruelty. Douglass thought that with discovering religion
and using it, Auld would become more polite as how Douglass viewed Christianity. Unfortunately that
was not the case. Auld justifies that being affiliated with religion would not change a person for the
better. Being a slave, Douglass found that slave owners found religious sanction for their cruelty. He
that knoweth his master s will, and doeth it not, shall be beaten with many stripes. , was what a slave
owner had said to justify why he beat

Not until now did I realized that Native American Reservations have been suffering the side effects of

Comparing Elder Care Between The West And The East
Abstract: As the aging population is increasing in the world very rapidly it is interesting to examine
how different countries and cultures treat as well as take care of their vulnerable citizens. This essay
will make an attempt to look at the differences in elder care between the west and the east.
A test of people is how it behaves toward the old. It is easy to love children. Even tyrants and dictators
make a point of being fond of children. However, the affection and care for the old, the incurable, the
helpless are the true gold mines of a culture.
― Abraham Joshua Heschel
It is the intention of this paper to compare how elders are being treated both socially and economically
in the west as opposed to the eastern part of the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In eastern societies, traditional families tend to take care of their elders by giving them personal care
at home. Eastern cultures like China still adhere to traditions lie filial piety, which gives family units
their highest priority and values elders with the utmost respect. Today even that seems to be on a
downward trend as China s rapid industrialization is driving young families to the cities to work while
the older family members tend to stay back in rural areas.
Jared Diamond, a well known expert on aging and elder care in the United States notes the following:
Cultural values that emphasize respect for the elderly contrast with the lower status of the elderly in
the U.S. Older Americans are at a significant disadvantage in job applications. They also face

Even though developed countries like the United States have well defined laws protecting their
elderly. It is also common knowledge that senior citizens are in fact mistreated financially and
socially. Assisted living facilities are an expensive affair and in many cases the elderly are confined to
institutions that match with their financial situations which in turn leads to inconsistent forms of care.

Human Rights Speech Analysis
Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton former First Lady of the United States, gave a phenomenal twenty
minute speech that would change the rights for woman everlastingly. The phenomenal speech is
entitled Woman s Rights are Human Rights, and was delivered to the word on September fifth,
nineteen ninety five. The speech was held at the Fourth World Conference in Beijing, China. The
phenomenal speech was an enormous milestone in the fight for women s rights around the world.
Clinton s speech was motivational, empowering, and impactful for her audience who listened to her
and for woman of every race and nationality. In fact, the speech is extremely well known over twenty
years later. Clinton s twenty minute powerful speech affected women s role in politics, domestic
violence against woman, and woman s role in the bored room. According to Jana Kasperkevic, a
digital reporter from Marketplace, based in New York, During the 104th session of US Congress,
which ran from 1995 to 1997, 50 women were elected into the 435 member House of Representatives
and nine into the 100 seat Senate (Kasperkevic). Clinton s twenty minute speech made an
extraordinary impact on woman in politics forever. Furthermore, As of January third, two thousand
seventeen, during the 114th session of congress, there are 104 woman who have been elected to
represent American voters 84 in the House and 20 in the Senate (Kasperkevic). Today, woman can
become president of the United States, politicians, or even senators. This is an extremely amazing
accomplishment considering just 100 years ago woman did not have the right to vote or voice their
opinion in politics. In 1920 woman were allowed to vote for the first time in American history. For
woman to receive the right to vote it took activist and reformers nearly 100 years to win suffrage
rights for woman (History dot com). Clinton made a positive affect for woman all around the world
because of her twenty minute speech. Additionally, she also made dreams for woman come true.
Kristin Gillibrand who is now a US senator from New York, wrote she was inspired by Clinton s
speech in 1995 and pursued her dreams of becoming a US senator (Gillibrnd). The effect of Clinton s
speech made it possible for

on academic performance of college students in Saudi Arabia through a variety of sources of
information. In order to establish a conceptual phenomenon relevant to the effect of cooperative
learning setting, an experimental research design will be conducted. Primarily, this will enable the
researcher to expose and validate all the principles governing cooperative learning among Saudi
Arabia students along with their effect on the academic performance of these students. In addition to
the quantitative methods of research the researcher will incorporate diverse qualitative forms of data
collection such as pre and post test so that both pragmatic and objective results can be substantiated.
Definitely, this will help in reflecting reality mathematically thereby enhancing the validity of study
results. Therefore, this part of this writing covers a number of methodologies that will be adopted in
the research.
Research Philosophy The philosophy behind the choice of adopting a quantitative research approach
in the proposed study is logical positivism wherein the research will not be confined within just one
parameter, but will consider diverse

Friar Lawrence At Fault Analysis
I think Friar Lawrence is the most at fault in the story of Romeo and Juliet. One of the reasons that he
is at fault is because he was the one that said yes to marry Romeo and Juliet. He thought if he married
them then the families would become at peace with one another. It did the exact opposite of what he
intended, a lot of people are dead now. He was feeling pressured that is why he said yes. Since he was
feeling pressured, he still could have said no, and gave them a reason so they could work it out in the
future. Secondly, he is the one that could have delayed the marriage. If he delayed the marriage he
could have talked to the families to see if it were going to be ok. Friar Lawrence knew that the
marriage was moving on too quickly,

The Operating System Of A Computer
The Operating System of a computer. How does it work many say, what does it do other say. The
operating system or some people in the world also call it the OS, which mean the same. The OS is the
first program that gets installed and booted on to a new computer. The purpose of an operating system
is so that the end user can interact with the computer and hardware, helping him/her use the right
software/apps needed depending on what operating system they are using. The OS helps you multi
task on you PC, so you can run multiple software at the same time. The function of a operating system
gives commands to the hardware and also tells how much resources to use from the hardware to
complete the needed tasks. The OS manages all the connected hardware in your PC such as hard
drives, a mouse, keyboard, displays a cursor on the screen which allows you to navigate threw the
system much easier. Now a days we see fancy and colorful screens with a bunch of icons and windows
that users use to help get around files and other programs assisting them to complete their daily tasks.
The operating systems of the 21st century are easy to navigate because most operating systems now
have a GUI which stands for Graphical User Interface, which allows users to see icons, windows,
folders, files systems and much more instead of just a command line with black and white blinking
text like back in the older days. For example, lets say you want to transfer your pictures from your
smartphone to you

Relationships
What would happen if someone was never loved? What would happen if someone never got in a fight
with another person? Some believe that if someone was never loved, he or she would die. Those
people are right! Some people believe that if someone never got in a fight with another person, he or
she would be ok. Those people are wrong! Loving and fighting are what keep a person sane. They
could be the things to keep a person alive. Having a good and healthy relationship is so important,
because it can be what keeps a person living. If someone was never loved, that person would feel
anger and sadness. Successful suicides are the result of feeling no love. Those people who commit that
kind of suicide feel alone and trapped. They feel like the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having a close relationship with friends give people someone to talk to about things they would never
say to their parents. It gives those people a chance to learn to accept others opposite opinions and
work together. The importance of having good business relationships is great for someone who is
learning how to cooperate with someone he or she does not necessarily like. It gives that person a
chance to learn to accept others opposite opinions and to work together. Finally, the importance of a
good parent relationship should not have to be explained. Parents must have a good relationship with
their child, because it will keep the child on course. Parents can teach the child right from wrong and
learn from their child s body language how he feels. One of the biggest mistakes all these relationships
have in common is lying to the person with whom they are forming the relationships. After someone
lies to the other person in the relation, he or she tends to lose respect the person had in their relation.
That person will think less about the advice given from the other person. This is bad for all of the
relationships. It breaks trust between friends, parents, and business partners. Another big error is
telling a person not to do something, because it only makes that person want to do it more. Instead, the
person saying no should tell the child, friend, or business partner why, and, give facts to support that
reasoning. Simply

Elizabeth Acevedo Book Report
At the beginning of the year, I did not like to read whatsoever. My view on reading was tough and I
did not even want to try to read a book. Reading has just never been my thing, it is hard and it s hard
for me to remember what I read. When It was my first day of junior year and I walked into English I
was overwhelmed with all of the books that were in the room. I was not happy because I figured we
would read a lot and the teacher would get to choose the book but once I figured out that you could
choose your own book it made me feel more comfortable towards my reading.
This school year one of the books I decided to read was The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. This is a
newer book and was released on March 6th, 2018. This book sucked me in as soon as I saw the cover
of the book, Acevedo s book was the type of book where I ll just read 40 50 pages but then turned into

book is about a gay twenty one year old college student. His name was Matthew Shepard who was
lured from a Wyoming bar by two young men, savagely beaten, tied to a remote fence and left to die.
This is a short book of poems all based on the murder of Matthew Shepard. They re told from various
perspectives and which helps readers understand the story more. Newman uses this quote well because
of the situation in the book, despite reading hundreds of books about straight people, I did not grow up
to embrace the heterosexual lifestyle. Similarly, someone who is heterosexual is not going to turn gay
from reading a book that features a child being raised by two moms (Newman 113). A beautiful quote
in verse inspired by a real tragedy simply because of one boy s sexuality. This tells the readers that

Compare And Contrast Grant Vs Lee
Grant vs. Lee Amongst the civil war generals, Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee, were the most
famous ones. Lee lead the Confederate Army for 4 years of fighting until their surrender, while Grant
used impressive military tactics to win the war for the Union. These were strong man, these oddly
different generals, which represented the power of two conflicting forces that through them had come
into a final collision that would change the entire direction of a nation. Even though the two went to
West Point, a prestigious military academy, and may seem alike, these two men were completely
different. Ulysses S. Grant was born on April 27th 1822, in Point Pleasant, Ohio. He was the first son
of the tanner and businessman Jesse Grant and Hannah Grant. Aside from being an exceptional
horseman, Ulysses didnÂŽt actually possess any great military skills. He was known for his slovenly

mother alone. This decision affect Robert because he was convinced that he had to prove his honor
and clean the stain that followed his name. He studied at the West Point Military Academy and
graduated second in his class. The generals first met at the Mexican War, when they took part in
General Scott s expedition from Vera Cruz to Mexico City. After war, the two choose similar paths. In
1854, Grant resigned from the army and went home to his wife and kids, while Lee also went home to

Abstract This paper proposes direct torque control of induction motor simulation using conventional
method and space vector pulse width modulation technique for ripple reduction. Direct Torque Control
is a control technique used in AC drive systems to obtain high performance torque control and thereby
controlling the speed of induction motor. The principle is based on simultaneous decoupling of stator
flux and electromagnetic torque of AC drive system. DTC drives use hysteresis comparators and they
suffer from high torque ripple and variable switching frequency problem. The proposed SVM based
DTC reduces torque ripples. The basis of the SVM DTC methodology is the calculation of the
required voltage space vector to compensate the flux and torque errors and its generation using the
SVM at each sample period. The performance of this method is demonstrated by simulation using
MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results presented in this paper show the torque, flux linkage
and stator current ripple decreases with the proposed SVM DTC algorithm. Keywords: Direct Torque

According to Harry F, Harlow his experiment was to obtain a mother that is patient as well as able to
be available twenty four hours to her infant monkey. So the researchers created a substitute mother.
The experiment consisted of separating the monkeys between six to twelve hours after birth and more
than sixty animals were taken from their mothers. The number of breasts was reduced on the substitute
from two to one. Some of the cloth surrogates lactated and some only the wire did but the ones that
were made of wire the infants could only get nutriment from the wire they would still always go back
to the cloth surrogate for comfort and warmth. Even though only the wire mother could provide
nourishment, the monkeys visited her only to feed.

Neo Orthodoxy And Its Impact On Society Essay
But [Jesus] answered and said, It is written, MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT
ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD. (Matt. 4:4 NASB)
Neo orthodoxy is an umbrella term used to describe religious ideas that purpose to be a third way,
somewhere between conservative and liberal Christianity. Since its conception, neo orthodoxy has
evolved and changed, with several thoughts emerging from those that advocate the third way idea.
Some of these changes have included the way humans can understand God and the effect Scripture has
on their lives. The outgrowths of neo orthodoxy are deconstructionism, narrative theology and Radical
orthodoxy; views that are the results relativism, misunderstanding inspiration, and distrust in the
Bible. Deconstructionism proposes to free the Biblical narrative from literal meaning or science and
historical criticism (Dorrien, 3). However, with it also comes the rejection of objective truth. Another
idea within Neo orthodoxy is the drive to encounter God in the experience of life. Narrative Theology
allows this experiential relationship when one sees their life as part of the overarching narrative of
God s story. (Ibid. 2) However, the Biblical texts do not have universal structures of truth, and they are
instead subject to the understanding of a community. (Ibid 4) Different from both these of views is
radical orthodoxy. Radical orthodoxy is put forth as an answer to postmodern atheistic philosophy.

William Rowe And John Hicks s Explanation Of Evil
William Rowe and John Hick: Why is there evil? John Hicks in his work There is a Reason Why God
Allows Evil (adapted from his book Evil and the God of Love) starts the conversation regarding evil
with the type of God that Christians believe and how this is not parallel to the evil that he perceives in
the world. First the discussion on God; he talks about how it is hard to imagine a loving creator when
the world is full of human suffering and pain (128). How can a God who is so in love with his creation
sit far away and watch them be in pain without interfering? Hicks phrases this as a challenge to theism
that the problem of evil is pitted against this loving God (128). Because if there is a perfect and all
loving God, that God must not want us to suffer with evil, but instead abolish evil (128). It is so easy
to see the amount of evil and human suffering that is in this world, so in a way it seems illogical to
believe in a God who is so loving and lets these things pass by. So, with this argument in mind about
God he shifts to other explanations to what evil is and why it is there. ... Show more content on

This idea that evil is an illusion of the human mind is what contemporary Christian scientists would
use to explain all the evil that was witnessed. But Hick argues that this explanation is impossible with
the stark realism of the bible (129). The bible records sorrows and suffering that all of humanity has
experienced. The apex of the bible story is based on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Obviously evil is
not just a mere fictional thing in the mind of a human but rather reality. As Hick said it evil is
unambiguously evil, and stands in direct opposition to God s will

You Ll Be In My Heart Literary Devices
Heart. Memories. Wishes. My first song is You ll be In My Heart By Phil Collins. In this song the
literary device used to convey the theme of when someone loses someone important to them, they will
be by there side forever and never leave is repetition. My second song choice is My Wish By Rascal
Flatts. In this song the literary device pathos helps convey the theme of never giving up on dreams and
when other people doubt other people s goals but they continue to keep moving forward.
The song You ll Be In My Heart by Phil Collins and the novel, Jeremy Fink and The Meaning of Life
by Wendy Mass, both use repetition to get across the common theme of when someone loses someone
important to them they will be by their side forever and never leave. In the song, Phil Collins writes,
You ll be here in my heart. Always. Always I ll be with you. I ll be there for you always. Always and

In the song, Rascal Flatts writes, My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to,
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small, You never need to carry more than you can hold. (lines
9 11). This implies that the person writing the song wants you to reach your goals and continue on and
not have to carry regret on your shoulders. They want you to take risks and suceed at your goals. In
the letter that Mr. Fink left for Jeremy it said, What matters is holding tight to that string, and and not
letting anyone tell us our goals aren t big enough or our interest are silly. (pg.272). This proves that
Mr. Fink wanted Jeremy to hold on tight to his dreams and linterest an thrive through life and not
listen to what others had to say. He wanted him to continue in what he believs no matter

Marketing research is the function that links the consumer, customer, and public to the marketer

Face to face interviews, surveys, focus groups, and observations are all tools used in primary research.
These tools help researchers gather data directly from the targeted groups. Primary research is
proprietary information that the researchers own and can use as they see fit. The researcher can make
this information available to others or not. This type of discovery can be exciting and create an
advantage to the researcher because it has yet to be disclosed. Further, primary research allows the
researcher to have a greater degree of control over the research process while looking for answers to
specific research questions. However, primary research is time consuming because the process can be
lengthy and involved. Developing the rapport that is required to conduct many of the studies that are
involved in primary research takes time and effort. Additionally, primary research can be expensive.
According to Aaker, Kumar, and Day (2007), secondary research is composed of data that were
collected by persons or agencies for purposes other than solving the problem at hand (p. 110).
Secondary research is often used to help researchers narrow the scope of their research. Researchers
have little control over secondary research. However, secondary research is less expensive and, with
the wealth of information it provides, it can be overwhelming. Still, if done properly, secondary
research can answer the research question just as thoroughly as primary

It s Come A Long Way From The First Draft
This is the final draft of the essay. It s come a long way from the first draft. The details are present and
the thread is more clear. At least to me, the writer, it is. I m proud of the elements I ve chosen and of
the way I ve chosen to connect them. The use of freedom as a thread was difficult, yet the perfect
challenge I needed. I love my thread, yet I m not super confident in my imagery within the piece. I
tried to incorporate more sensual imagery, but only accomplished visual imagery, a little bit of touch
and smell. I m proud of this piece merely because I managed to connect two things I absolutely love
(nature and equine) with an issue we still face in this world, acceptance of others, ourselves and
racism. Racism was displayed in the freedom taking of another man. Never did I think I would be able
to connect these 4 completely different ideas in such a simple, yet complex way and absolutely love it.
I ve never been more excited about of a piece of writing and allowing people to read it than I am with
this piece. There are so many things I m proud of with this writing, but there are a few things I feel I m
weak in. I m not quite sure everyone will agree with my thread being present throughout my entire
essay, although I think it is, but maybe that s because I wrote. I m not quite sure if the repetition of the
words free and freedom were effective or really necessary. And the imagery as I already said. I m
lacking the sense of taste as how do I represent taste with

  • 2. Muscle Contraction System Intro: The heart has a clear function, which is to constantly pump blood through the body into every organ that consists of cells. Blood is transported through the body with veins and arteries that are set up through the body, one having oxygenated blood flowing into the body while the other is poor on oxygen heading into the lungs for gas exchanges. These pumps the hearts emulates are caused by electrical stimulation, which produce muscle contraction. The cardiac cycle has a regular pattern that is determined by electrical activity. It all starts at (SA) node which is located in the right and left atrium, the also know as the natural peacemaker, where electrical signals originate. Next, the (AV) node or the Atrioventicular node located on the opposite side of the (SA) node near the AV valves. The (AV) node serves as a bridge between the atrium and the ventricle, delaying the electrical impulses to ensure that the atria have completely pump the blood before the ventricle contraction. Electric signal from the That started from the (SA) node soon reach the Atrioventicular bundle or referred to as the (AV) bundle which is divided into the right and the left bundle branches created a path of impulses to the apex, then spreading throughout the myocardium soon after passing through the purkinje fibers. While the heart goes through this process a certain machine called ECG recording apparatus records the waves PQRST, which is the pattern of the cardiac cycle. In the PQRST P represents the contraction of the atria and its usually the beginning of the cardiac cycle. QRS illustrates the contraction of both ventricles and also shows the completion of the cardiac depolarization. Finally the T wave represents the relaxation of the ventricles and it s the end of ... In Dustin Kaufman s creative, semiotic process, there is no cacophonous storm that immediately follows the relaxing calm nature in which I strive to work. There is just that: calm. Ironically, my work is almost entirely made up of calamitous actions. Guns, death, and blood. Bullets tear through flesh in an orgy of stylish gore; a rape of the senses. The kind of stuff that sends shivers speeding up the spines of the decent and politically correct whilst bringing a gleeful yet euphoric sense of joy to both the audience and creator. Obviously, I did not craft the film with such ideas in mind, but if there is one thing Columbia has instilled in my brain it is that human beings will attach meaning to everything. If there were ever a catalyst that inspired Dangerous Lack of Cheese, it is without a doubt the feedback of my one professor. • 4. Christmas In Kalahari Eating Christmas in the Kalahari is an anthropological study conducted on the !Kung Bushmen society by Richard Lee. Lee lived among the !Kung for three years to learn more about their hunter gatherer society. In this essay, I intend to analyze Lee s research and validate the reasoning for the !Kung s criticism towards Lee s generous offer of the ox. The !Kung are a society within the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, Africa. They are an egalitarian society, meaning that there is no leader, chief or president that dictates the decisions made on behalf of the society as a whole. The major decisions for the !Kung are made by the elders of the society and all members are viewed and treated as equals. The !Kung are also a hunter gatherer society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The !Kung s idea of the Christmas story essentially boiled down to praising the birth of white man s god chief. The !Kung had very little interest in the holiday besides the Tswana Herero custom of slaughtering an ox for their Bushmen neighbors as a gesture of goodwill. Since the 1930 s, part of the Bushmen s annual round of activities has included a December congregation at the cattle posts for trading, marriage brokering and several days of trance dance feasting at which the local Tswana headman is host. *Lee went to Botswana to visit the !Kung society in order to study their hunting and gathering subsistence economy. In order to accomplish this, it was essential for Lee not to intrude on their hunter gatherer system by providing them with food, sharing his food or interfere with their food gathering activities in any way. However, scarce handouts of tobacco and medical supplies were appreciated, they were scarcely adequate to erase the glaring disparity in wealth between the rich anthropologist who maintained a two month inventory of canned goods and the Bushmen who rarely had a day s supply of food on ... • 5. Identity Crisis In Where Shall We Go This Summer Where Shall We Go This Summer? Desai s novel Where Shall We Go This Summer? an illustrious novel, deals with the story of an oppressed mind. It depicts an intense identity crisis of the protagonist, Sita, a sensitive woman at her early forties who finds herself alienated from her husband and children. Sita is hypersensitive and she is incapable of looking at things in the normal way. In the first part of the novel entitled Monsoon 67 , she is shown as married to a prosperous businessman, Raman. She had had four children with pride and pleasure sensual, emotional, Freudian, every kind of pleasure with all the placid serenity that supposedly goes with pregnancy and parturition (29). The name itself is suggestive of an escape from the summer that stands for the raging inner tension, frustration, disappointment, mental discord and disharmony of the inner consciousness of Sita. Anita Desai views the violence through the eyes of a woman in the limited area of her domestic relationship. Desai concludes this novel with Sita s recovery from her plunge into existential nullity. Sita as a broken bird of the seashore analyzes the cause of her anxiety and neurotic behavior and learns to cultivate the art of survival in the destined life. Her triumph over her illusions renders the island devoid of its powers and miracles. Sita realizes that the part is irrevocable therefore it is useless to go back to it. Her diminished ego paves way for her becoming conscious of human relationship. The realization that her escape from the realities of life would not offer any solution to her spiritual impasses makes her regain, her lost faith. Sita is bold enough, first to protest against her circumstances, and then taking the blame on herself for being a coward and not facing reality. Desai s pre occupation with the woman s inner world, frustration and storm raging inside her mind intensify her predicament. She also excels in elaborating the miserable position of highly sensitive and emotional women tortured by negligence and loneliness. She is excellent in depicting the ... Federal Reserve Act Essay Using Sources A, B, and C and your own knowledge account for the founding of the U.S. Federal Reserve and analyze how its role in economic policy has developed since then. In the late 1800s and early 1900s the United States experienced numerous banking panics ultimately leading to a massive crisis in 1907 which would motivate Congress to pass the Federal Reserve Act. President Woodrow Wilson would sign the act in December of 1913 (McBride Sergie, 2015). The Federal Reserve would mean a centralized banking system for the United States. This was not the first attempt at centralized banking, Alexander Hamilton, the first Treasury secretary, expressed that a national bank would stabilize the new governments shaky credit and support a stronger economy. Hamilton faced opposition, primarily from the South, where lawmakers assumed a central bank would be beneficial only to the North. Hamilton would have his way and Congress would establish the Frist Bank of the United States in 1791. In 1811, the bank s charter would expire and Congress would refuse to renew it by just one vote (Irwin, 2013). The Second Bank of the US would be necessary in 1816 as a result of the War of 1812. President Madison would realize that it would be too hard to fight a war without a national bank to fund the government. Again, in 1836, Andrew Jackson would be in office and see to the demise of the Second Bank. This was an era when anyone could print money, and they would. It would become clear ... Under this, it is just for the Omelas to make one child suffer to maintain the happiness of the society. Utilitarianism is better explained and supported by the trolley problem, a hypothetical case where you have the power to allow a trolley to kill five workers or one worker by pulling a switch. According to utilitarianism, you would not only be permitted, but required to pull the switch, which would result in one death and five lives saved (MacKinnon 100). By losing one life ... • 9. The Quintessential American Woman Essay The Quintessential American Woman The American woman is a mystery that has yet to be solved. She is an ever changing poem that sparks interest in those who are unaccustomed to her mysterious ways. The American women fascinated many authors, including Henry James. To express his enthrallment, James employed his literary talent to create Daisy Miller. Daisy exudes the vast depth of the entity of the American woman, which originally captured James attention. John Hay, a contemporary observer of American manners and mores stated of the American woman, Her conduct is without blemish, according to the rural American standard, and she knows no other (qtd. in Fogel 52). Evidence for this is found in the novella wherein Winterbourne ponders, Was she simply a pretty girl from New York State...or was she also a designing, an audacious, an unscrupulous young person (James 57). Daisy seems pure and innocent, but her behavior is so unrefined leaving her open to suspicions of crudity. As Daisy can be said to personify the American woman, such qualities of innocence and crudity can be said to apply to the American woman as well. Daisy s purity is further explored in her dealings with the few expatriate Americans that she encounters in Europe. The characteristics of the expatriates consist of familiarity with American social behavior, although European social behavior is favored. This adds to the contrast between the American and European social standard. Mrs. Walker, an American expatriate, is a perfect example of the difference between the standards of America and Europe. After sympathizing with Daisy s behavioral ignorance, Mrs. Walker attempts to help Daisy from further ruining her fast developing reputation. Daisy s refusal to accept advice creates additional isolation from the social society in Europe for her. Comparisons of the Natural World Illiwa Baldwin CH 202.1305 Jeff Auer March 5 2012 Comparisons of the Natural World Up until the 17th Century, an understanding of the natural world and how it operates was very limited and the general consensus was that there was God, and all things were created by him in a hierarchical order that sustained the balance of man. Although these Gods varied between ethnicities and religions, the general idea of a creator is consistent. Francis Bacon is better known for his theories that man will better understand nature if he uses the mind as a tool rather than rely entirely on scientific discovery. It is Bacon that attempts to connect the science and understanding of the physical world with society. Bacon s Novum Organum lists a series of aphorisms by which man should abide by in order to attain a better understanding of the natural world. These aphorisms are a guide to accepting science as the entire truth of the natural world. His writings are peculiar because he lays down these guidelines and within them there seems to be a constant message that instructs doubt in scientific experimentation, where Bacon himself is a scientist that utilizes the use of experimentation and scientific method. Moreover, he outlines the four classes of idols that effect the thought and minds of man, I have assigned names, calling the first class Idols of the Tribe; the second, Idols of the cave; the third, Idols of the Marketplace; the fourth, Idols of the Theatre (TOM 29). The Union military told Suu Kyi that she would be set free under the conditions that she agreed to leave the country, but she refused to do so insisting that she would continue her struggle until the junta released the country to a civilian government and freed their political prisoners. This was the first sacrifice Aung San Suu Kyi made for her country. Instead of leaving, and pretending that Burma s troubles were no longer hers, she stayed. She stayed to make a difference. For 6 years, she stayed in house arrest. In 1990 a parliamentary election was held, and the party that Aung San Suu Kyi was associated, called the National League for Democracy, won with 80% votes in their favour. However, the Junta military government overruled these results, and 20 years later declared them invalid. Cost Synergies: How Merger Models Incorporate Managerial Accounting Methodologies Introduction According to the Merriam Webster online dictionary, a synergy is defined as a mutually advantageous conjunction or compatibility of distinct business participants or elements (as resources or efforts) . When applied exclusively in a business context, synergies are realized improvements in efficiency, as well as reductions in cost, resulting from the cooperation of two or more entities. These improvements are derived from the elimination, and consolidation, of redundant activities and tasks between the operations of disparate business units. In the following paragraphs, I will describe how and when synergies are used to initiate certain business ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Supply chain management, human capital management, and a myriad of other functional areas have become focus areas for synergistic analysis. These types of synergies are commonly referred to as operating synergies. Conversely, financial synergies, such as debt capacity and tax benefits serve to increase cash flow or reduce the firms cost of capital. Favorable operating and financial synergies provide the justification to enact the reorganization of the business through merger activity. Despite the importance of operating synergies to the organization s overall synergy strategy, this paper will focus almost exclusively on the financial outcomes of such analyses. How are synergies achieved? In a nutshell, all synergies can be expressed using the following rudimentary equation: 1 + 1 = 3 The idea that the sum of the parts is greater than that of the individual components is the driving assumption behind the synergistic approach to business reorganization. In today s corporate climate, synergies are at the forefront of acquisitive growth strategies which attempt to supplement internally generated (organic) growth with targeted acquisitions of existing entities or through business combinations. The goal of these transactions is to achieve a return on investment that exceeds the returns generated by each party prior to the deal. These returns can be measured in terms of cost reductions, increased revenues, and in some instances a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Problem Of West Mendham In theory and in practice, it is always a dangerous idea to look the other way in order to fulfil one s own selfish needs. It is even more dangerous when a casting body of authority decides to turn a blind eye because they perceive the benefits to outweigh the cost. In a nutshell, this is what the town decision makers of West Mendham are dealing with. They are blinded by short term gains and thus fail to see the long term effect of the agreement made with Pyle Associates. This is not to say development is not a good idea for the town of West Mendham because it is. However, with development comes more risk. A risk which the town of West Mendham is willing to undertake in order to achieve short term economic gains. Of course building a floodwall shows that the town of West Mendham have a clear understanding of the risk the town faces as opposed to not having a floodwall. The construction of the wall will have both positive and negative impact. Nonetheless, the immediate advantage of the wall will be to protect the inland side of the wall from flooding. This type of floodwall is also best for areas like West Mendham where space is limited. In an event of a flood, the walls will serve as a sustainable mechanism to help reduce the impact of flooding and building damages would be limited. These are of course some positive aspects of the floodwall, assuming its construction. However, the construction of the floodwall comes with potential undesirable risk and additional ... • 15. Frederick Douglass Views On Religion Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass: Religious Life Frederick Douglass was an important leader who helped fight for slaves freedom in the 19th Century. Religion played a major role in Mr. Douglass s life. In his autobiography, he describes his daily struggles of being a slave and how he escaped to freedom. In his narrative, he explains the way his masters would beat, rape, and murder slaves, but only to use their Christian beliefs to explain why they did it and basically use it as an excuse. Douglass himself was also a Christian and explains in his autobiography that the religious views of the masters were very different from the religious views the slaves had. Frederick Douglass composed his autobiography to explain that the master s view of Christianity was unholy and if there was no change to be made, it could continue and lead to an increase in sacrilegious acts. Slave owners used Christianity as an excuse for the awful ways they treated their slaves. Christianity played a major role on the increase of brutality and violence that spirited the slave owners. The scriptures in the Bible were twisted in the eyes of slave owners to how they wanted to interpret them. Douglass had a powerful experience with one of his masters, Thomas Auld. Mr. Auld was not a religious person and treated the slaves very poorly. In August 1832, Auld attended a Methodist camp meeting and that marked the day when he became religious, and suddenly even more cruel. Prior to his conversion, he relied upon his own depravity to shield and sustain him in his savage barbarity; but after his conversion, he found religious sanction and support for his slaveholding cruelty. After becoming religious, Auld uses scripture to justify his cruelty. Douglass thought that with discovering religion and using it, Auld would become more polite as how Douglass viewed Christianity. Unfortunately that was not the case. Auld justifies that being affiliated with religion would not change a person for the better. Being a slave, Douglass found that slave owners found religious sanction for their cruelty. If you were assigned to Jim s team for this project, when in the project schedule (in what phase of after which activities are completed) do you think you could develop an economics analysis of the proposed system? What economic feasibility factors do you think would be relevant? After each of the objectives in Jim s scope statement have been addressed, that is answered on paper with how they plan on accomplishing the task, would be a good time to assess economic analysis. At this time, there would be a clear understanding of what should be needed to address each objective successfully and analyzing the economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Can you imagine how it felt for them not only to lose their mother but to see the photos of their mother laying on a gurney, cut up and trying to cling on to life? Meanwhile, those paparazzi and their publishers were making a pretty penny from the photographs. There are other cases of celebrities who have fallen to victims of the paparazzi. • 19. Comparing Elder Care Between The West And The East Abstract: As the aging population is increasing in the world very rapidly it is interesting to examine how different countries and cultures treat as well as take care of their vulnerable citizens. This essay will make an attempt to look at the differences in elder care between the west and the east. A test of people is how it behaves toward the old. It is easy to love children. Even tyrants and dictators make a point of being fond of children. However, the affection and care for the old, the incurable, the helpless are the true gold mines of a culture. ― Abraham Joshua Heschel It is the intention of this paper to compare how elders are being treated both socially and economically in the west as opposed to the eastern part of the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In eastern societies, traditional families tend to take care of their elders by giving them personal care at home. Eastern cultures like China still adhere to traditions lie filial piety, which gives family units their highest priority and values elders with the utmost respect. Today even that seems to be on a downward trend as China s rapid industrialization is driving young families to the cities to work while the older family members tend to stay back in rural areas. Jared Diamond, a well known expert on aging and elder care in the United States notes the following: Cultural values that emphasize respect for the elderly contrast with the lower status of the elderly in the U.S. Older Americans are at a significant disadvantage in job applications. They also face tremendous disadvantages in hospitals. Our hospitals have an explicit policy called age based allocation of healthcare resources . Even though developed countries like the United States have well defined laws protecting their elderly. It is also common knowledge that senior citizens are in fact mistreated financially and socially. Direct torque control of induction motor simulation using conventional method and space vector pulse width modulation Naveen chander PG Student Electrical Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh, India snl.naveen@gmail.com Dr. Lini Mathew Associate Professor Electrical Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh, India Dr. S. Chatterji Professor Head Electrical Engineering NITTTR Chandigarh, India Abstract This paper proposes direct torque control of induction motor simulation using conventional method and space vector pulse width modulation technique for ripple reduction. Direct Torque Control is a control technique used in AC drive systems to obtain high performance torque control and thereby controlling the speed of induction motor. The principle is based on simultaneous decoupling of stator flux and electromagnetic torque of AC drive system. DTC drives use hysteresis comparators and they suffer from high torque ripple and variable switching frequency problem. The proposed SVM based DTC reduces torque ripples. The basis of the SVM DTC methodology is the calculation of the required voltage space vector to compensate the flux and torque errors and its generation using the SVM at each sample period. The performance of this method is demonstrated by simulation using MATLAB/Simulink software. Simulation results presented in this paper show the torque, flux linkage and stator current ripple decreases with the proposed SVM DTC algorithm. • 32. Neo Orthodoxy And Its Impact On Society Essay But [Jesus] answered and said, It is written, MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD. (Matt. 4:4 NASB) Neo orthodoxy is an umbrella term used to describe religious ideas that purpose to be a third way, somewhere between conservative and liberal Christianity. Since its conception, neo orthodoxy has evolved and changed, with several thoughts emerging from those that advocate the third way idea. Some of these changes have included the way humans can understand God and the effect Scripture has on their lives. The outgrowths of neo orthodoxy are deconstructionism, narrative theology and Radical orthodoxy; views that are the results relativism, misunderstanding inspiration, and distrust in the Bible. Deconstructionism proposes to free the Biblical narrative from literal meaning or science and historical criticism (Dorrien, 3). However, with it also comes the rejection of objective truth. Another idea within Neo orthodoxy is the drive to encounter God in the experience of life. Narrative Theology allows this experiential relationship when one sees their life as part of the overarching narrative of God s story. (Ibid. 2) However, the Biblical texts do not have universal structures of truth, and they are instead subject to the understanding of a community. (Ibid 4) Different from both these of views is radical orthodoxy. Radical orthodoxy is put forth as an answer to postmodern atheistic philosophy. (Malcolm, 1) Like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

John Hicks in his work There is a Reason Why God Allows Evil (adapted from his book Evil and the God of Love) starts the conversation regarding evil with the type of God that Christians believe and how this is not parallel to the evil that he perceives in the world. First the discussion on God; he talks about how it is hard to imagine a loving creator when the world is full of human suffering and pain (128). How can a God who is so in love with his creation sit far away and watch them be in pain without interfering? Hicks phrases this as a challenge to theism that the problem of evil is pitted against this loving God (128). Because if there is a perfect and all loving God, that God must not want us to suffer with evil, but instead abolish evil (128). It is so easy to see the amount of evil and human suffering that is in this world, so in a way it seems illogical to believe in a God who is so loving and lets these things pass by.
