The Discovery Of The Earth s Magnetic Field
The Earth s magnetic field
The discovery of the Earth s magnetic field Over 2000 years ago, the Chinese discovered that
lodestone, a naturally magnetised iron ore, would align itself in a north south direction. Hundreds of
years later, they discovered that their compasses didn t point true north and in fact that this position
changed with time. The compass was first used for navigation in the 11th 12th century, only arriving
in Europe towards the end of this period. Then, in 1600, William Gilbert (Figure 1.1) published De
Magnete, Magnetisque Corporibus, et de Magno Magnete Tellue (On the Magnet and Magnetic
Bodies, and on the Great Magnet the Earth). He concluded that the Earth itself was magnetic with a
centre of iron, and this is why a compass would point north. Figure 1.1 William Gilbert (1544 1603) ,
author of De Magnete, the first printed book written by an academically trained scholar based almost
entirely on actual observation and experiment .
The structure of the Earth s Magnetic Field
The Earth s magnetic field can in fact be closely approximated by a magnetic dipole at its centre, tilted
by 11˚ to the Earth s rotational axis, Figure 1.2. The south pole of this magnetic dipole actually points
northwards such that the north pole on a compass will point towards northwards, and more precisely,
to the Earth s magnetic north pole. The magnetic field strength decreases from the poles towards the
equator. Currently the field is 56 µT at the magnetic north

APA Reflection Paper
My colleague is lacking evidence for her overall research question. Her research draft is not arranged
in proper order and her in text citations are not in proper APA form. The source page contains credible
sources from academic journals to actual research case studies. I recommended her to look up the in
text citation form on Purdue Owl or to go to the Writing Center in regards of citation since she does
have the sources, she only needs to apply in text citation on some parts of her paper. Another thing I
recommended was to go over her outline and rearranged her order, I told her that she could start by
giving the audience a little feedback about her research and then explaining the importance of therapy

Affordable Health Care
I too believe that healthcare should be a right for all citizens. Health is defined by the World Health
Organization (WHO) as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well being (Macionis, 2015,
p. 267). Preventative and acute care is important to maintain health and is needed by everyone in the
world. Since the creation of the Affordable Care Act many have argued the negative repercussions of
the program often neglecting the positives. The fact is, most working adults (59.5%) are offered
insurance for themselves and their families at a discounted rate through their employers (Robert Wood
Johnson Foundation, 2013). Despite a 10% decline in employers that offer insurance compared to
2011, the option is still available for half of the working population (Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation, 2013). Small business owners that employ fifty or more employees are eligible to provide
subsidized health insurance for their employees (HealthCare.gov, 2016). In addition, 30.1% of
American s utilize either Medicaid or Medicare, a government program that aids or supplements
insurance cost ( Medicare and Medicaid, Age and Income Random Samplings, 2013) . The Affordable
Care Act asks that the other 8.4% of the population purchase health care through the marketplace
where they are able to select and tailor their health care ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is it with the government, with employers that chose not to offer health insurance to their employees,
or with the insurance companies that charge enormous rates to increase their profits? In my opinion, it
lies with the insurance companies. Their bottom line is profit! If the rates provided were truly
affordable everyone would have access to health care and it would truly be a right. However, private
insurance companies, a multi billion dollar business, is invested in the profitability of illness not
keeping people healthy. The Affordable Care Act is working to eliminate health care disparity leading
to a healthier

Yellowstone Youth Conservation Corps
My first glimpse at the Yellowstone Youth Conservation Corps occurred through a counselor at my
high school. Upon visiting the program s website, I was amazed at how well the program fit my career
goals and current interests. I am currently very interested in reforestation and the effects of meat
consumption on deforestation and climate change.
Beginning next year, I plan on double majoring in Environmental Science and Biology, and I want a
career in Conservation and/or Biodiversity. YCC is an ideal opportunity because it enables me to
involve myself in activities oriented towards my career. Because I am dually enrolled in my high
school and Western Kentucky University, I have benefitted from many opportunities to discover my
passions and pursue Biology. I am currently involved in Undergraduate Biology Research and have
completed several biology courses ranging from Anatomy and Physiology to Evolutionary Biology
and Biodiversity in Costa Rica. Because of my favorable academic circumstances, I have had many
opportunities in the field of biology, but I have obtained fewer experiences in Environmental issues.
However, I am still passionate about the environment, and especially lifestyle changes that would
reduce detriments to the Earth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The high hills and rough terrain that surrounded them was not what they were told to prepare and
expect. The initial plan had failed. The Turkish occupied the higher ground having an advantage over
the ANZACs, who had to create tunnels/trenches with the sea right behind them. 5 ) Explain the
conditions at Gallipoli for the Anzacs. The ANZAC s arrived in Gallipoli during the late spring
season. The weather was different to what the soldiers were used to back under the hot Australian sun.
Half way through the year the weather became hot. Plagues and diseases carried by fleas and flies,
were spread around. Soldiers/Troops that arrived in perfect health conditions, were very soon seen
developing and suffering from from health problems; dysentery, diarrhoea, gastroenteritis and
infestations of lice. Water was supplied from Egypt, but it was never enough, therefore it was near
impossible to keep clean, and stay hygienic. Germs, plagues and diseases were spread due to the lack
of cleanliness. Toilets were large, deep holes in the ground. By October, troops experienced the
harsh, bitter winter cold. This poor lack of hygiene, led to around 20% of the men sick from diseases.
During the war the ANZACs had to face terrible conditions, from the constant noise of machine guns,
bullets, cramped and dirty places, hunger, thirst, tiredness, deaths of soldiers, diseases, smell,
unsanitary food. 6) Describe the role of women during the

How Does The Help Change The Whole World
That one question. That one question that changes everything. That one question that changes your
whole world. This is what happened in The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The Help takes place in the
1960 s in a very racist little town. Skeeter, a white privileged lady, speaks up and writes a book
exposing racial injustices. She writes a book with the help of black maids to bring about change.
Change begins with a whisper is shown as Celia Foote finds confidence in herself to accept her faults.
Celia found a confidence in herself that she never knew she had. She had gone through many struggles
growing up in Sugar Ditch and then thinking her husband didn t love her. Celia felt like she wasn t
good enough because she wasn t the perfect wife or because she couldn t have children. Celia, at the
end of the book, finally accepts that she can t have children and that Johnny is ok with it. Minnie also
helps her build her cooking skills, but also just helps her as a friend. When Johnny finally finds out
about Minnie (and Celia knows he knows), Celia has a giant weight lifted off her shoulder. She finally
changes the way she lives. She actually starts getting out of bed and accepts that nobody will ever call

This is a change I would like to see in our school like Skeeter wanted to change people actions and
thoughts. School start time is so very early in the morning. People have early bird classes, early
practices, early meetings, early everything. If the start time of school was pushed back you would
have more time to fit in those activities without having to wake up at 5 am. Students focus better when
they have more sleep and test scores would improve. Many students have so many activities at night,
they can t just go to bed earlier. If school started even just a half hour later, that would be a half hour
more they could be alert and attentive in school. Changing the school start time would be a great
change that should be

Presentation of Idealised Lifestyles in Editorial and Advertisements of Magazines
The two magazines I have chosen to compare for this coursework are Hello! Magazine, September
21st 2004 and Nuts Magazine, Thursday 1st October 2004 . I have decided on these two magazines
because they are aimed at two greatly different audiences.
Hello! Magazine was first published to the public on the January of 1990. This was a time when
Hello! was more then just information of celebrities and their lifestyles. The audience, as today s, was
still mainly women readers.
This is quite an old front page of Hello! It has one main story and five sub stories. However, if you
compare this edition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the cover, it has a big picture of a famous wedding that took place that week, and the cover story
has lots of brilliant photos of the occasion, making the reader feel that they were invited and saw all
the action of the day. It also has lots of interviews with other famous starts, including a lady who still
looks very, very well at 70 years old, and Donny Osmond in his house with his family.
All the stories are aimed at the 25 40 s and wouldn t suit any other audience, old or young. It does
have a few adverts, advertising perfume, house interior and food. This is appropriate advertising in
this magazine. If it had adverts on football boots costing £99, it would be a waste of space and the
makers would not make any profit at all. It would be getting the audience wrong and would show un
professionalism.
In all the pictures, apart from the photos that where not organized with the celebrity, the people
involved in the photo are always looking into the camera lens and smiling. This makes the person look
like they are smiling at you and shows that in the interview, they were upbeat, friendly and having a
good time. In the interviews, the author/interviewer describes every detail of the moment; expressions,
actions, the way they said their sentence, making the reader picture this interview.
The reader gets the pleasure to see some of

Heroes Every Child Should Know Perseus And The Miser
The Greek fables that were written in the past still inspire us today. Well lets just say that their are a lot
of lessons inside of these fables and myths that can inspire people today and people can learn a lot of
lessons from it. For example, in some fables the greeks teach a lesson about appreciating and
cherishing what one has before it is won t have them and when they are gone you will want to have
them back again. Some fables that support this claim is The Hen and The Golden Eggs , Heroes Every
Child Should Know Perseus and The Miser . These are some fables that can teach people to appreciate
and cherish things before they are gone and some myths that show that how to use things appropriatly
and to use things usefully.
The Greeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fable is Heroes Every Child Should Know Perseus this fable had the people cherish their things
and use them appropriately like Perseus. Perseus had to go on a quest to defeat an evil enemy named
MEDUSA she was a very ugly lady who had lots of fangs on her head and Perseus had to cut her head
off. He was nervous about it but he accepted the task so he was given lots of equipment to help him
like a sword that can cut off medusa s head and some sandals that could make him fly all the way to
Medusa. When he was fighting Medusa he remembered everything that he had and the advice he got
so that in the end he had cut off Medusa s head and had survived this very frightening mission. In this
myth Perseus used his things appripriatly and use them usefully, unlike the other fables that had
people disrespecting their things.
In conclusion the ancient greek myths and fables still inspire and teach lessons to people today by
showing us some consequences the fables and myths had. Some bad consequences were like in The
Miser and The Hen and The Golden Eggs when they lost their chance to have something good but did
not because they did not make the right choice. Some good choices that happened is in Perseus
because in that story he was thinking and used his resources wisely and in the end he had
accomplished his mission. So to wrap it up the lesson is to appreciate and cherish things

Nervous System Case Study
The formation of the nervous system requires a balance between proliferation, differentiation and
migration of neural progenitors, resulting in a neural network that mediates both behaviors and
autonomic functions. Here, we identified an exon junction complex protein , RBM8a, as a positive
regulator of embryonic neural progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation. We determined that
RBM8a knockdown leads to increased migration of neural progenitor cells (NPCs) to the cortical plate
(CP), depletion of the NPC pool, and a decrease in the number of cells in the S phase of the cell cycle.
Conversely, RBM8a overexpression leads to decreased migration of NPCs to the CP, expansion of the
progenitor pool, and increased proliferation. In order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We determined that knockout of RBM8a in interneuron progenitors alone led to some changes in their
distribution, but this effect was significantly less profound as when compared to the deletion of
RBM8a from all NSCs. Therefore, we concluded that the phenotype is likely caused by some changes
in intrinsic properties, but conceivably as a result of extrinsic cues from excitatory neurons and other
cell types. To determine if the pyramidal cells in the cortex have normal electrophysiological
properties, we conducted spontaneous transmitter recordings from putative pyramidal cells in the
somatosensory cortex of Nes cre;RBM8afl/+ mice. Pyramidal cells in the cortex of these knockout
mice have a significant decrease in spontaneous inhibitory post synaptic current (sIPSC) frequency,
but no changes in sIPSCamplitude, or spontaneous excitatory post synaptic current (sEPSC) frequency
or amplitude. This indicates deficits in the presynaptic but not postsynaptic neurons. Deficits could
include fewer synaptic vesicles being released or the synaptic vesicles containing less transmitters
inside. Given our findings that these mice have fewer PV+ and NPY + cells, we posit that cortical
interneurons are releasing normal amounts of GABA, indicating that the change in frequency results
from the decrease in interneuron number. However, more experiments need to

The Lost Puppy
Companies and Advertising
Advertisements are made especially to grab the viewer s attention in any way possible. Many
companies use images to try and trigger their viewers emotions or facts to attempt to establish
credibility and get consumers to purchase their product or to grasp the message they are trying to get
across. Companies like Budweiser and Kleenex achieve their advertising goals by using ethos, pathos,
and logos.
The Lost Puppy Budweiser commercial did a very good job at reaching their viewers on an emotional
level. This advertisement started at a clydesdale farm, which is Budweiser s signature animal, with a
white lab puppy. Of course viewers are going to be captivated by the adorable lab pup. As the
commercials continues the pup get lost and goes on a journey back home. When the pup is almost
home a wolf approaches which concerns the viewer s because it seems like inevitable death for the
young lab. Until the clydesdale s appear and save the day and they all walk back home. What a sweet
nail biting commercial right? That is the whole point Budweiser has their audience so caught up in this
cute little puppy they do not even realize they are being sold an idea. Budweiser is trying to get their
viewers to look at their product as a family product that establishes unbreakable bonds. They use
pathos to plant this idea of a sweet little puppy with their brand so when their buyers see their product
at the store that is what they associate it with.

Responses For The Child And Her Father
Anticipated responses for the child and her father might very different. The child may cope by acting
out, being emotionally dysregulated, having eating or sleep disturbances, brooding or withdrawing,
being restless or unable to be still, taking on too much responsibility or developmentally, emotionally
and physically, regressing (Bugge, Darbyshire, Røkholt, Haugstvedt, Helseth, 2014). The child who
witnesses a death may be afraid they or another family member will die in the same way. They may
also be actively avoiding painful memories or suppressing their needs being afraid to cause more
trouble (Bugge, et al., 2014). The process of grieving is complicated by the tasks of the developmental
stage that child is going through, the relationship with the deceased, their coping skills including
support systems, and the circumstances of the death (Slyter, 2012). She is in Erikson s stage of
Industry versus Inferiority, so the clinician might see her express the thought that she has done
something wrong that caused her mother s death. The father, although he can express his grief more
directly, may find that he has conflicting feelings about processing his grief and simultaneously
attending to his daughter s needs. He may go through the five stages of grief as proposed by Kubler
Ross (Corr, 2015). These stages include denial, or shock; anger; bargaining; depression; and
acceptance, or moving forward. These stages may occur in any order, or not at all. They can also

Mirrors In Black Mirror, By Charli Charlie Brooker
In our 21st century reality, new media and technology has transformed, with little resistance, almost
every aspect of daily life; redefining our reality. From plasma screens to monitors to smartphones, we
are constantly face to face with the black screens of our devices, or black mirrors . Canadian professor,
Marshall Mcluhan described media as artificial extensions of sensory existence, ; meaning, each
media technology functions as a prosthetic, working in conjunction with our minds and bodies,
allowing us to perceive more and reshaping our perception of the world (1969). This approach
emphasises the impossibility of fully understanding social and cultural changes in society without
understanding how media works as environments (Griffin, 2011).

Archetypes In Little Miss Sunshine
The movie Little Miss Sunshine showcases six different archetypes commonly found in road trip
movies. Each of the archetypes are completely different from each together and help each other in all
of their toughest moments. Olive in the movie Little Miss Sunshine falls under the maiden archetype
due to her childlike demure.
Olive at the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant really shows how much of a maiden she really by
showing how no matter how fierce the competition is compared to her Olive still has no idea that the
audience will not react well to her performance; looking through rose colored glasses (Schmidt 90).
The film goes out of its way to represent how out of place the Hoover family really is such as in the
scene where all the girls are lined up dipped in sparkles with smiles from ear to ear as a creep is
singing them the national anthem, Olive is the only one that finds this weird and even with that Olive

American Revolution And Religion
The Revolutionary period had much more substance to it than meets the eye. Although it is often
looked at as just Americans creating the United States of America, that is not the only perspective that
should be taken away from the American Revolution. It should be recognized more as Englishmen, as
Anglo Protestants, getting away from England. There are numerous diverse perspectives and events
that shaped the American Revolution. Some of the most imperative instances are Religion, Anglo
Americans, the Intolerable Acts and taxes, and the role of the Tories.
One of the most overlooked perspective of the popular view has to do with religion. The eighteenth
century colonists had a plethora of options to choose from when it came to religion. Many ... Show

These people were called Tories. Tories, also known as loyalists, were colonists that stayed faithful to
Britain during the Revolutionary War. They consisted of royal officials, wealthy merchants,
conservative urban lawyers, people who disliked pro revolution citizens, southern slaves who looked
to Britain in hope of freedom, and a multitude of Indian tribes. Contrary to popular view, one could
argue that the American Revolution was not only a fight between the Patriots and the British, but it
was really a civil war between the Rebels and the Tories. The fight between the Rebels and the Tories
can be described as brutal because of the guerilla warfare, brigade war, tarring and feathering, and
killings that were exhibited between the two sides. According to Tories: Fighting For the King in
America s First Civil War, General Nathanael Greene stated, The division among the people is much
greater than I imagined and the Whigs and Tories persecute each other, with little less than savage
fury. There is nothing but murders and devastation in every quarter. (Thomas Allen p. 1). The Tories
main concern was stability, which the British could provide to them unlike the rebels. Many times, this
would divide families because they would disagree on whether they wanted to be a Tory or a Rebel.
Additionally, if they decided to ultimately be a Tory, they would join the British army to fight against
the Patriots or flee to Canada or back to England. Although their role in the American Revolution was
to support the British, even with the Tories help, the British were still

Data Center Network Design Using Metrics And Their Results...
Abstract Data centers are physical or virtual repositories for storing, managing and accessing data.
Data center network (DCN) is the interconnection between the data centers. There are several existing
architectures for the interconnections between these data centers. Several aspects are taken into
consideration while designing data center network architecture. This paper shows analysis of several
data center network architectures using metrics and their results on different network topologies. For
security and routing data centers can use a hardware approach called Forwarding Unit or deploy
middleboxes in the networks.

I. INTRODUCTION
Conventional systems were too complex to operate and maintain. Many cables were required to
connect all the components, and methods to accommodate and organize the data. A single mainframe
required a great deal of power, and had to be cooled to avoid overheating. Security became important
and computers were expensive. Data centers were then introduced where collectively data was stored
and maintained. Data collection increased rapidly over years, which led to an increase in data centers.
Communication between these servers became difficult and complex. For an efficient communication
between the servers many architectures were proposed. Data center architectures and requirements can
differ significantly.
With data availability and security at stake, managing and storing

New York City And Los Angeles
Being on opposite sides of the country, New York City and Los Angeles are two very similar, yet two
very different cities. Each city has its own ambience and atmosphere. People take pleasure in one of
them based on their personal preference and things available to them at each location. New York City
and Los Angeles are easily compared and contrasted based upon their weather, jobs, and style of
living.
New York City has four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Each season brings upon different
weather. The spring season in NYC is very pleasant. The temperatures can range from 42 to 62
degrees Fahrenheit depending on the winter before. New York City s summer season is usually
steaming hot, with temperatures reaching 90 degrees in the months of June, July, and August. When
fall rolls around, the temperatures start dropping. The fall season is full of beautiful colors and sights,
with temperatures ringing in anywhere from 50 to 70 degrees. The dreaded winter season is the
coldest of them all with temperatures dipping below freezing and sometimes below zero (Weather
Facts New York City).
However, Los Angeles weather can be very different. With Los Angeles being in Southern California,
it does not have many weather changes throughout the year. Most of the time, Los Angeles sees sunny
skies and temperatures at 75 degrees. Southern California s climate has often been described as perfect
(DISCOVER LOS ANGELES).

Comparing Poems My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover
Robert Browning, a Victorian poet, is well known for his use of dramatic monologue. Robert
Browning use of dramatic monologue in his poems, Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess separates
the speaker from the poet and allows the reader to use the speaker s words to uncover Browning s
actual meaning (Greenblatt 1275). By using the dramatic monologue, in his poems Porphyria s Lover
and My Last Duchess, Browning depicts the gender roles of the patriarchal society as seen during the
Victorian era.
As stated before, the Victorian era was a patriarchal society. A patriarchal society is a society in which
men have all of the power and women have little to none. In the Victorian society, women had no
rights or freedoms. They were often seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, right away the reader can see similarities between the Duchess in My Last Duchess, and
the victims of honor killings seen in the Middle East. An honor killing occurs when a member of the
family is murdered in order to restore honor to the family. According to Micah Issitt the honor killing
of women is often related to sexual behavior, and many cases occur when women refuse to engage in
arranged or forced marriages or if they engage in sexual behavior that violates accepted cultural norms
(Honor Killings: An Overview). The Duke in a way committed an honor killing by murdering the
Duchess. He felt that his wife did not give him the respect or the appreciation he deserved for
marrying her. He does not understand her actions, as if she ranked / My gift of a nine hundred years
old name / With anybody s gift (Browning 1283). The Duke believed that he gave the Duchess a gift
by marrying her and by not respecting him she dishonored his family name. In turn, when he
murdered her in a symbolic way he gained his honor back. Furthermore, In Robert Browning s poem
Porphyria s Lover, Porphyria trusting nature, similarly to that of a damsel in distress, is what causes
her to become the victim of murder. In this context, Porphyria can be compared to Snow White. Snow
White s trusting nature is what allows her to eat the poisonous apple from

Edgar Allan Poe Quotes About Death
Mors ultima linea rerum est ( Latin Quotes about Death ): this quote from Horace perfectly sums up
the theme of the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. Poe suffered much loss throughout his life first with the
loss of his mother, then his adopted mother, his first love, and finally his wife thus explaining why Poe
commonly uses death as a theme in his works. Poe also commonly writes about women and youth,
with the presence of death bringing a depressing and ominous undertone. Death exists in the happiest
and saddest of subjects. The Bells, which judging by the first two sections the reader can assume will
be a celebration of life, turns into a chaotic and then solemn story of death. Annabel Lee, which also
begins in a light and happy mood, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike Annabel Lee, The Raven tells of a lost love and the narrator s inability, or unwillingness, to
shed his romantic melancholia (Magistrale 40). The narrator of The Raven holds on to his grief and
sees death as a barrier currently separating [him] from the lost Lenore (Magistrale 46). The reader then
begins to also see death as barrier and can feel the same sadness that the narrator himself is feeling.
The bird brings about mixed feelings within the narrator. At first, the bird amuses the narrator , but
quickly frustrates him when the bird s only responds nevermore : the narrator wonders if he will
reencounter [Lenore] in the afterlife, and finally if the narrator himself will ever find peace in her
absence. To each of these questions the bird s consistent reply infuriates him at the same time as it
deepens his sense of loss (Magistrale 39 40). This questioning of life after death can make a reader
feel quite crestfallen as it can make him or her wonder whether or not he or she will see a loved one
again. The raven has always been a bad omen...At the conclusion of this poem, we are to believe that
the raven has become a permanent resident of the poet s chamber and soul (Magistrale 40 1): the raven
never leaves the poet similar to how death lurks always creating a dark feeling within the

The Idea Of An Omnipotent Essay
The idea of omnipotence has been a tricky concept for philosophers for many years. Many
philosophers have tried to define it without success. In this essay, I intend to look at, as the question
poses, whether A being is omnipotent if it has every power which it is logically possible to possess is
an adequate definition of omnipotent and then move on to look at some other ways of defining
omnipotence to see if they do any better. Omnipotent quite literally means all powerful, Omni all,
potent powerful. Most theists believe there to be one all powerful, perfect being, so the idea of an
omnipotent being is essential to most western religions. I will focus on Christianity, throughout my
essay to allow me to focus on the question without getting sucked into discussing the different
religious point of views. So the God we speak of is the traditional Christian one unless otherwise
specified. There are plenty of quotes directly from the bible that promotes God as all powerful, though
omnipotent is a later word. The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and
great righteousness, he does not oppress. (Job 37:23) The discussion of how to define God is an
essential one to theists as it can cause a lot of problems. If for example, we raise questions such as if
God is all powerful why is there suffering in the world? Before we can move on to problems with this
definition and other definitions we first need to look at them in some more depth. In

Beyond a rice paddy, under the shadow of a celestial mountain, a group of dark cloaked humans finish

Analysis Of Frozen Assets By Diego Rivera
Paintings are expression in art form, they reveal the feelings of the painters, and convey the messages.
One of the greatest painter that can reflect the lives of the Mexican people is Diego Rivera. Diego
Rivera is famous for marrying a fellow Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, but is a notorious womanizer, also
famous for his paintings. In one of the paintings, Frozen Assets, Diego Rivera visited New York
during the Great Depression depicting the people and city in his paintings with colors with the
meaning behind it. Since the color is a big thing in paintings, the color gray that Diego Rivera paint on
Frozen Assets, probably represent the people facing in the Great Depression. The first two panels have
the color gray because people were suffering and not enough money and the last panel, it has more
light and have these bright colors. First, the first panel, the skyscrapers were there when Diego Rivera
arrived to New York, perhaps symbolizing that the unfinished city is frozen in time. The machines
below the skyscrapers are still there because probably, they are still building more, but stop since there
was great numbers of unemployment, the machines perhaps have stop working at that time. The
grayish color on the buildings probably represent that money ran out and people are facing the
consequences of the Great Depression. Then there is the train below the buildings, it is believed that
that train was running at that time Diego Rivera visited New York. The functional train

Essay On Modern Day Veterans
Have you hugged a veteran today? What about yesterday? most likely the answer is no. Veterans are
important to our nations history and future, but we are not very good at recognizing this and following
through with our promises. A quote from John Kennedy states that As we express our gratitude, we
must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. We do not
realize the impact they have on our lives today. They protected our freedom, they remind us of how
deadly war really is, and most importantly they teach our future generations.
One of the fundamental reasons people go to war is for freedom. Where would we be without the

emerging demographic of more youth oriented consumers, is focused on trendy styles, then Sears has
a significant weakness in that it is not among the top choices amongst the competition by any means.
In the high end market, competitors such as Holt Renfrew, Harry Rosen, The Bay (which has taken

Nordstrom s really have the clientele loyalty and market share, leaving no room in this market for
Sears. In the discount market, Wal Mart has the obvious market share lead by far, and we cannot

the other symptoms he describes. Nicholas indicates he only noticed them within the last year.
Q. What might cause the pain in the abdomen, back and legs? Electrocytes imbalances and/or
dehydration.
Q. The viral infection poses a kind of stress. Why might Nicholas have such a severe reaction? He is
already in a compromised state; people who are not healthy have bodies that are not equipped to
handle additional stressors.
Results of the lab tests on Nicholas are summarized below: low serum Na ( 130 mEq/l) high serum K (

The Garden Of Earthly Delights By Hieronymus Bosch
Estimated to have been painted sometime between 1505 and 1510, The Garden of Earthly Delights
was created by the Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch (who was known for his tenancy to create
fantasy like figure painting of demons, machines and sometimes grotesque/frightening imagery). This
oil painting is composed of three panels (triptych), measuring 13 feet by 7 feet when all the panels are
open.
When opening up Bosch s triptych, the first panel reveals a colorful interior filled with strange
building, abnormal landforms, and many different types of crossbreed (alien like) creatures. In the

Security Issues in International Relations Are Best...
Security Issues are Most Effectively Addressed by a Neo Realist Approach to International Relations.
Discuss.
Security has been the source for much debate within International Relations; ranging from the
optimum way to provide security, through to the definition of security itself. Neo Realism has, in the
past, been the dominant approach to security issues within International Relations. However, in the
past few decades events such as the end of the Cold War, international terrorism and globalisation
have dramatically changed the world, which has only intensified the debate over which approach most

Neo liberals are prepared to go to war but it is generally accepted as a last resort, with the use of
economic sanctions the preferred security method; the belief of peace via co operation. Neo liberals
view sanctions as a means of preventing a rogue state from violating the international norms (Martin,
1992). The neo liberal understanding of the international community lies within increasing
interconnectedness and the utility of international institutions such as the EU and UN. The security of
Israel has weakened in recent years due to threat posed by Iran and their suspected research into the
development of nuclear weapons. In 2005 the EU imposed trade sanctions on Iran due to resuming of
nuclear activities (European Commission, 2012). A form of collective security occurs when all states
stand to lose something from war; collective insecurity leads to security. Kant would argue that even
though the international system is anarchic, alliances and treaties still exist as a form of power and
security. Buzan (1991) takes this further stating that although economic activity can generate many
different factions within in a state, the international economy itself becomes powerfully tied together
trade, finance and communication.
As previously mentioned, neo realists place an emphasis upon security via military power, and whilst
there is no denying that military security is

A monster is defined as an extraordinary or unnatural, imaginary animal, but not all monsters are
animals nor are they all imaginary. Some monsters are human, and very real. Facing a human monster

Scopes Trial Essay Thesis
The Scopes trial is a standout amongst the most well known trials in American history. The trial was a
lawful case in 1925 in which a substitute high school teacher, John Scopes, was charged with violating
Tennessee s Butler Act, which made it illegal to teach Darwinism in any state financed school. This
trial was a gathering between various polar opposites, for example, Fundamentalism and Modernism.
The fundamentalism and modernism conversion during the Scopes Trial had an extreme impact on the
American Education System. The Scopes trial was a trial over a misdemeanor offense by substitute
teacher John Scopes, but it ended up becoming an even huger trial between fundamentalist and
modernist. Modernist and fundamentalist were fighting for control of America s education system and
the result of the trial would have a drastic effect on Tennessee s education system. When the Butler
Act was passed in 1925, the ACLU (American Citizens Liberties Union) sent a press discharge to a
few Tennessee daily papers, publishing that they would give legitimate support, and so forth for a
teacher in Tennessee who would be eager to stand trial for having taught Darwinism in a government
funded school so an experiment could be mounted to test the established legitimacy of the Act. A
gathering of citizens in the residential area of Dayton acknowledged ACLU s offer, with the
expectation that the exposure encompassing the trial would help to switch the town s declining
fortunes. The group

One of the main perpetrators of the Dab comes not from the dancing scene but from the world of

representation of the Dab as the Carolina Panthers rode an almost perfect season only falling short in
the 2016 Superbowl. To them, the Dab originally symbolized their success as a team throughout the
season and eventually their humiliation to the Denver Broncos following their defeat in the Super

Women Struggles During The 19th Century
Labarron Collins Professor Griffin ENG 251 02 25 September 2014 Women Struggles in the 19th
Century Since the beginning of time women have struggled to prove themselves to society so that
people understand they are just as good as men. However, society has made a mockery of women for
years. Using women for sex appeal and for personal gains. Women were those who stayed home
cleaning, took care of the children, and prepared meals for the family. This sounds quite familiar with
today s society, but women today aren t only limited to these things. Not only were women not
allowed to work outside of home, but voting was off limits also. On June 4, 1919 the 19th amendment
was passed by Congress. This honored all American women the right to vote. This Amendment was
approved on August 18th 1920. On account of women suffrage, women should be granted equal rights
politically and economically, especially after the hardship they faced. Because of their contributions to
society, women exclusively should be allowed to help the country grow at an economical standpoint
and politically while having the privilege of voting. At the beginning of the 19th century, the rights of
women were limited. She could not take custody of her children in the event of divorce (Muntone) .
This shows women had no power and men were in complete control. For example, today women
usually go through courts to fight for custody of their children after a nasty divorce. Back in the 19th

In John Steinbeck s 1939 novel, The Grapes of Wrath, the theme of family is explored. Steinbeck
follows a family of migrants moving westward during the Great Depression/Dust Bowl era, and
chronicles their experiences as they live through overly inferior conditions. In Chapter Seventeen of
the novel, Steinbeck discusses what life is like generally for migrant families as they journey out west.
It becomes the norm for families to set up camp each night with other families and share their food
and experiences. The migrants set up their own rules for their society and through these rules, the
audience can understand how these people wish to be governed. Their ideals are very similar to the
ideals of Henry David Thoreau, a transcendentalist author, poet, philosopher, and historian. In an
essay entitled Civil Disobedience, Thoreau ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The migrants in Steinbeck s novel have similar beliefs, but also have differing opinions regarding the
function of government. Both Steinbeck and Thoreau agree that in a society, there should be no ranks,
and everyone should be equal and united in order for the society to function properly. When referring
to how the unity of the migrants started, Steinbeck says, In the evening a strange thing happened: the
twenty families became one family, the children were the children of all. The loss of home became
one loss, and the golden time in the West was one dream, (Steinbeck 264). The migrants didn t have a
lot of possessions when they moved westward. They were all very impoverished, so there was nothing
they had that others didn t that would lead

Themes And Reflection Of The Allegory Of Young Goodman Brown
1) What is the tone of this passage? Which words convey this tone? Despite the sporadic shift in of
tone with words such as brightening and sunshine, the overall passage is very somber and serious. The
authors use of dark, sorrow, lamentations, and black mass, to describe the situation presented the
events as deceitful and wicked.
2) Where does the author use imagery? The author uses imagery in the passage more than once. For
example, the lines black mass of cloud and hid the brightening stars, suggest that the cloud deprives
the forest of it s of light. The imagery suggests that the forest is now dark and therefore gives the
reader an ominous feeling about the events to come.
3) What is the theme of this passage? The theme of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strictly speaking, this means that Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote this short story to reveal that people are
not permanently good or permanently evil.
Symbolism: The forest in the story symbolizes evil and corruption because according to Puritan
beliefs, the forest is the home of the devil. This is important to the story because Goodman Brown
does encounter evil inside of the forest instead of in the village.
Situational Irony: Situational irony is seen when Goodman Brown hides in the forest to avoid being
seen by Goody Cloyse. Goody Cloyse, his catechism teacher, is known as holy among the villagers.
The reader expects Goody Cloyse to be surprised and afraid upon encountering the old man, but the
opposite happened she walked with him. This is situational irony because the reader expected Cloyse
to avoid evil rather than joining into communion with it.
Dramatic Irony: In the short story Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne used dramatic irony
to foreshadow dark events that would occur later that night through Faith s dreams. The reader can
assume that Faith s nightmares anticipate Goodman Brown s unholy actions in the

Living in a Fallen Societies
Would you like to live in a world where your leader is murdering millions of people, well this was
Nazi Germany. Thankfully we don t have to live through that anymore. Why? Because faults in the
society lead to its failure. All societies fail, but why? Corrupt leaders, lack of resources, and failure in
security can all lead to the downfall of a society. Now not all societies fail for these reasons, but Nazi
Germany, ancient India, Rome, and the Glade, a fiction society in The Maze Runner book by James
Dashner, have. The are usually many faults in our government and every government whatever type of
government it is. Leaders are very important in a society because everyone looks up to the leader, but
what happens when the leader is corrupted? Bad things happen when a leader is corrupted, It
happened in Germany and in The Maze Runner. In the Glade they have a council of Keepers who run
the government. The Keepers are like the CEO of one of the many jobs at the Glade. The Keepers
make the laws and vote on issues. Gally is one of the Keepers on the council. Gally is a bully. He
threatened to kill Tomas more than once and has hurt other citizens in the Glade. Gally also does not
respect their government system. He wants to be the only leader. All of the leaders need to be on the
same page, so everything can work right. In this case it wasn t, which is why the Glade fell.
During the Nazi Germany era, Hitler started out nice but abused his political power and became a

After Watching the Documentary Food Inc.
Watching the documentary Food Inc, there were a few points that stood out most to me. I think one of
the most important concerns that were brought up is the consumers not knowing the truth behind the
food. Whether there is actual harm in our food or not, we still need to know what is going into our
food. The harm that may actually be inside our food can be caused by how easy it is to produce crap
food now days. Making mass produced food is a lot easier than it has been in the past because genetics
have changed animals into growing faster and fatter. This causes harm to the environment by creating
factories for these foods to be made, which causes pollution by emitting many CO2 gasses. However
this isn t a concern for the producer. The producer is mainly focused on money they receive even if it
causes harm to the environment or the consumers. The use of pesticides and other substances are used
in foods, whether it s in the production of corn growing or in the food in general to help keep germs
out. This also causes harm to the consumer and environment that we should be aware of.
Throughout the film Food Inc, I noticed there were quite a few subtitles stating ... declined to
interview for this film. This made me ask myself to why they chose not to interview for this
documentary. This goes along the lines of point number one. All of the companies which preferred not
to interview for this film are hiding information from the consumers, information that would make us
not want to

Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc
Running Head: HI HO YO YO INC.
Case Study: Hi Ho Yo Yo, Inc.
First Come First Serve (FCFS): This is a service policy that is based on attaining the customers or
clients, in order to their arrival or request. It means that, the one who comes earlier would be given
priority in the sequence of their arrival. FCFS discipline of service delivery does not take any other
parameter into consideration like quantity, monetary value of the order, etc. If we select this method of
delivery to our clients, we are bound to release the order in the sequence of date (Greasley, 2008).
Shortest Processing Time (SPT): This process of scheduling is used for completion of work within the
due date. This method emphasizes on processing with the job ... Show more content on

We should adopt the policy of Backward Scheduling, while using this method, because the due date is
given in this case and we are supposed to plan our work schedule, such that we can meet the
commitments of due date.
Critical Ratio Method: As we know that Critical Ratio method prioritize the work as per their
significance, and take into consideration two critical factors, one when the work is required to be
completed to meet the deadline and the second factor is how much time is required to complete the
work. The use of this method for meeting the due date would lower the average work flow time,
compared to First Come and First Serve method and Due Date method, but higher when compared to
Shortest Processing Time. The average tardiness is lower than FMFS method and SPT method but
higher than Due Date method.
Recommendation
After the analysis of all the four methods and evaluating their pros and cons of using them, we can
find out that it would be wise to use Shortest Processing Time method. When we compare this method
to other three methods, for meeting the commitments of our clients regarding due date, we can easily
observe that this method is best suitable in present context. We have to deliver the order of our clients
within a relatively short span of time with respect to the flow of work. As this method has the lowest
average work flow time, although it has a bit higher average

A New Age of Music Piracy
Andrew Vaccarezza
Dr. Keith Bohm
Music 129, section 2
12 July 2007
A New Age of Music Piracy
A thief can be defined in many different ways. The American Heritage Dictionary of the English
Language states a thief is one whom commits theft. So one might ask, what exactly is theft? Theft is
defined as the felonious taking and removing of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful
owner of it (The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language). Now most people who
participate in music piracy do not consider themselves thieves. The definition of a theft is flawed in
many ways. Most of the time people do not contain on factor of being a thief, this factor is depriving
the rightful owner of the property stolen. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the Piracy Deterrence and Education Act that is being considered in the House Judiciary
Subcommittee on Intellectual Property. This act would mostly attack peer to peer networks and force
the FBI and the U.S. Copyright Office to develop anti piracy programs (AFM). Since 2003 the RIAA
has aggressively pursued music pirates on the internet who have contributed to a substantial amount of
illegal downloading. They have won hundreds of guilty pleas averaging a reported $3000 per case
settlement (Dean). RIAA President, Cary Sherman stated the legal actions taken by the record
companies have been effective in educating the American public that illegal file sharing of
copyrighted material has significant consequences. Consumers are increasingly attracted to the host of
compelling legal online music alternatives. These lawsuits help to foster an environment that provides
a level playing field for these services to succeed. Without leaders such as Cary Sherman, the fight
against music piracy would fail along with the music industry.
Although there are many people and organizations involved in the fight against music piracy, there are
many road blocks standing in the way. In 1984 there was a Supreme Court ruling which protected
Sony Betamax from being held liable for circulating copyright violations through the use of video
cassette recorders. The courts ruled that the recorders had

Gatorade s Short Independent Clause
Compared to Rovell, Mattern chose to use very basic sentence structures that would be easy for a
juvenile level reader to understand. Mattern often uses short independent clauses that include a variety
of subject, verb, and object sentence constructions. Which on occasion include limited use of
dependent clauses creating a complex sentence. Mattern However, in doing so she missed several
critical events in Gatorade s history that aid in telling a more complete story. For example So by 1971,
UF filed a lawsuit against Cade and the other doctors. Finally in July 1972, the doctors agreed to give
the school 20 percent of Gatorade s total earnings. (Mattern, 21). When she explains the lawsuit
between Robert Cade and the University of Florida over

Clean Your Slacks Dry Cleaned Is Hell ! Essay
Having your slacks dry cleaned is hell! It takes days for them to be cleaned, you pay, on average, $4
$5 per slack, and on top of that you don t always get back what you give them. I don t even want to
talk about how poorly some dry cleaners handle your slacks.
Starting today, you ll no longer have to deal with cleaners. You won t have to be that person who
spends a chunk of their salary every year just to get their slacks back in poor conditions. Now, you can
walk into your pantry and grab simple, everyday household items to make your slacks look as though
you just bought them from the store.
Before we walk through the steps necessary for you to clean your slacks, we ll first discuss the items
you ll need. You ll need your slacks, baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice, a bowl, a lathering brush, and
laundry detergent. You ll also need a washing machine with a hand wash setting, a hanger and/or
drying machine with an air dry or air fluff setting, and a clothing iron that preferably has a steam
producing function and a flat surface to use it on. If you don t have baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice,
laundry detergent, a bowl, or a lathering brush, these items can be purchased at most grocery stores, as
well as some convenience stores for around $2 $6. A very basic clothing iron with a steam producing
function can be bought from most chain grocery stores or household appliance stores for around $10
$35. If you don t have a washing machine and/ or a drying machine at your

  • 2. The Discovery Of The Earth s Magnetic Field The Earth s magnetic field The discovery of the Earth s magnetic field Over 2000 years ago, the Chinese discovered that lodestone, a naturally magnetised iron ore, would align itself in a north south direction. Hundreds of years later, they discovered that their compasses didn t point true north and in fact that this position changed with time. The compass was first used for navigation in the 11th 12th century, only arriving in Europe towards the end of this period. Then, in 1600, William Gilbert (Figure 1.1) published De Magnete, Magnetisque Corporibus, et de Magno Magnete Tellue (On the Magnet and Magnetic Bodies, and on the Great Magnet the Earth). He concluded that the Earth itself was magnetic with a centre of iron, and this is why a compass would point north. Figure 1.1 William Gilbert (1544 1603) , author of De Magnete, the first printed book written by an academically trained scholar based almost entirely on actual observation and experiment . The structure of the Earth s Magnetic Field The Earth s magnetic field can in fact be closely approximated by a magnetic dipole at its centre, tilted by 11˚ to the Earth s rotational axis, Figure 1.2. The south pole of this magnetic dipole actually points northwards such that the north pole on a compass will point towards northwards, and more precisely, to the Earth s magnetic north pole. The magnetic field strength decreases from the poles towards the equator. Currently the field is 56 µT at the magnetic north ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Affordable Health Care I too believe that healthcare should be a right for all citizens. Health is defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well being (Macionis, 2015, p. 267). Preventative and acute care is important to maintain health and is needed by everyone in the world. Since the creation of the Affordable Care Act many have argued the negative repercussions of the program often neglecting the positives. The fact is, most working adults (59.5%) are offered insurance for themselves and their families at a discounted rate through their employers (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2013). Despite a 10% decline in employers that offer insurance compared to 2011, the option is still available for half of the working population (Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, 2013). Small business owners that employ fifty or more employees are eligible to provide subsidized health insurance for their employees (HealthCare.gov, 2016). In addition, 30.1% of American s utilize either Medicaid or Medicare, a government program that aids or supplements insurance cost ( Medicare and Medicaid, Age and Income Random Samplings, 2013) . The Affordable Care Act asks that the other 8.4% of the population purchase health care through the marketplace where they are able to select and tailor their health care ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is it with the government, with employers that chose not to offer health insurance to their employees, or with the insurance companies that charge enormous rates to increase their profits? In my opinion, it lies with the insurance companies. Their bottom line is profit! If the rates provided were truly affordable everyone would have access to health care and it would truly be a right. However, private insurance companies, a multi billion dollar business, is invested in the profitability of illness not keeping people healthy. The Affordable Care Act is working to eliminate health care disparity leading to a healthier ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Yellowstone Youth Conservation Corps My first glimpse at the Yellowstone Youth Conservation Corps occurred through a counselor at my high school. Upon visiting the program s website, I was amazed at how well the program fit my career goals and current interests. I am currently very interested in reforestation and the effects of meat consumption on deforestation and climate change. Beginning next year, I plan on double majoring in Environmental Science and Biology, and I want a career in Conservation and/or Biodiversity. YCC is an ideal opportunity because it enables me to involve myself in activities oriented towards my career. Because I am dually enrolled in my high school and Western Kentucky University, I have benefitted from many opportunities to discover my passions and pursue Biology. I am currently involved in Undergraduate Biology Research and have completed several biology courses ranging from Anatomy and Physiology to Evolutionary Biology and Biodiversity in Costa Rica. Because of my favorable academic circumstances, I have had many opportunities in the field of biology, but I have obtained fewer experiences in Environmental issues. However, I am still passionate about the environment, and especially lifestyle changes that would reduce detriments to the Earth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ANZAC s arrived in Gallipoli during the late spring season. The weather was different to what the soldiers were used to back under the hot Australian sun. Half way through the year the weather became hot. Plagues and diseases carried by fleas and flies, were spread around. Soldiers/Troops that arrived in perfect health conditions, were very soon seen developing and suffering from from health problems; dysentery, diarrhoea, gastroenteritis and infestations of lice. Water was supplied from Egypt, but it was never enough, therefore it was near impossible to keep clean, and stay hygienic. Germs, plagues and diseases were spread due to the lack of cleanliness. Toilets were large, deep holes in the ground. By October, troops experienced the harsh, bitter winter cold. This poor lack of hygiene, led to around 20% of the men sick from diseases. During the war the ANZACs had to face terrible conditions, from the constant noise of machine guns, bullets, cramped and dirty places, hunger, thirst, tiredness, deaths of soldiers, diseases, smell, unsanitary food. 6) Describe the role of women during the ... This is what happened in The Help by Kathryn Stockett. The Help takes place in the 1960 s in a very racist little town. Skeeter, a white privileged lady, speaks up and writes a book exposing racial injustices. She writes a book with the help of black maids to bring about change. Change begins with a whisper is shown as Celia Foote finds confidence in herself to accept her faults. Celia found a confidence in herself that she never knew she had. She had gone through many struggles growing up in Sugar Ditch and then thinking her husband didn t love her. Celia felt like she wasn t good enough because she wasn t the perfect wife or because she couldn t have children. Celia, at the end of the book, finally accepts that she can t have children and that Johnny is ok with it. Minnie also helps her build her cooking skills, but also just helps her as a friend. Students focus better when they have more sleep and test scores would improve. Many students have so many activities at night, they can t just go to bed earlier. Presentation of Idealised Lifestyles in Editorial and Advertisements of Magazines The two magazines I have chosen to compare for this coursework are Hello! Magazine, September 21st 2004 and Nuts Magazine, Thursday 1st October 2004 . I have decided on these two magazines because they are aimed at two greatly different audiences. Hello! Magazine was first published to the public on the January of 1990. This was a time when Hello! was more then just information of celebrities and their lifestyles. The audience, as today s, was still mainly women readers. [IMAGE] This is quite an old front page of Hello! It has one main story and five sub stories. However, if you compare this edition ... All the stories are aimed at the 25 40 s and wouldn t suit any other audience, old or young. It does have a few adverts, advertising perfume, house interior and food. This is appropriate advertising in this magazine. If it had adverts on football boots costing £99, it would be a waste of space and the makers would not make any profit at all. It would be getting the audience wrong and would show un professionalism. In all the pictures, apart from the photos that where not organized with the celebrity, the people involved in the photo are always looking into the camera lens and smiling. This makes the person look like they are smiling at you and shows that in the interview, they were upbeat, friendly and having a good time. Well lets just say that their are a lot of lessons inside of these fables and myths that can inspire people today and people can learn a lot of lessons from it. For example, in some fables the greeks teach a lesson about appreciating and cherishing what one has before it is won t have them and when they are gone you will want to have them back again. Some fables that support this claim is The Hen and The Golden Eggs , Heroes Every Child Should Know Perseus and The Miser . Perseus had to go on a quest to defeat an evil enemy named MEDUSA she was a very ugly lady who had lots of fangs on her head and Perseus had to cut her head off. He was nervous about it but he accepted the task so he was given lots of equipment to help him like a sword that can cut off medusa s head and some sandals that could make him fly all the way to Medusa. When he was fighting Medusa he remembered everything that he had and the advice he got so that in the end he had cut off Medusa s head and had survived this very frightening mission. In this myth Perseus used his things appripriatly and use them usefully, unlike the other fables that had people disrespecting their things. In conclusion the ancient greek myths and fables still inspire and teach lessons to people today by showing us some consequences the fables and myths had. Some bad consequences were like in The Miser and The Hen and The Golden Eggs when they lost their chance to have something good but did not because they did not make the right choice. • 11. Nervous System Case Study The formation of the nervous system requires a balance between proliferation, differentiation and migration of neural progenitors, resulting in a neural network that mediates both behaviors and autonomic functions. Here, we identified an exon junction complex protein , RBM8a, as a positive regulator of embryonic neural progenitor cell proliferation and differentiation. We determined that RBM8a knockdown leads to increased migration of neural progenitor cells (NPCs) to the cortical plate (CP), depletion of the NPC pool, and a decrease in the number of cells in the S phase of the cell cycle. Conversely, RBM8a overexpression leads to decreased migration of NPCs to the CP, expansion of the progenitor pool, and increased proliferation. In order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We determined that knockout of RBM8a in interneuron progenitors alone led to some changes in their distribution, but this effect was significantly less profound as when compared to the deletion of RBM8a from all NSCs. Therefore, we concluded that the phenotype is likely caused by some changes in intrinsic properties, but conceivably as a result of extrinsic cues from excitatory neurons and other cell types. To determine if the pyramidal cells in the cortex have normal electrophysiological properties, we conducted spontaneous transmitter recordings from putative pyramidal cells in the somatosensory cortex of Nes cre;RBM8afl/+ mice. Pyramidal cells in the cortex of these knockout mice have a significant decrease in spontaneous inhibitory post synaptic current (sIPSC) frequency, but no changes in sIPSCamplitude, or spontaneous excitatory post synaptic current (sEPSC) frequency or amplitude. This indicates deficits in the presynaptic but not postsynaptic neurons. Deficits could include fewer synaptic vesicles being released or the synaptic vesicles containing less transmitters inside. Given our findings that these mice have fewer PV+ and NPY + cells, we posit that cortical interneurons are releasing normal amounts of GABA, indicating that the change in frequency results from the decrease in interneuron number. However, more experiments need to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many companies use images to try and trigger their viewers emotions or facts to attempt to establish credibility and get consumers to purchase their product or to grasp the message they are trying to get across. Companies like Budweiser and Kleenex achieve their advertising goals by using ethos, pathos, and logos. The Lost Puppy Budweiser commercial did a very good job at reaching their viewers on an emotional level. This advertisement started at a clydesdale farm, which is Budweiser s signature animal, with a white lab puppy. Of course viewers are going to be captivated by the adorable lab pup. As the commercials continues the pup get lost and goes on a journey back home. The child may cope by acting out, being emotionally dysregulated, having eating or sleep disturbances, brooding or withdrawing, being restless or unable to be still, taking on too much responsibility or developmentally, emotionally and physically, regressing (Bugge, Darbyshire, Røkholt, Haugstvedt, Helseth, 2014). The child who witnesses a death may be afraid they or another family member will die in the same way. They may also be actively avoiding painful memories or suppressing their needs being afraid to cause more trouble (Bugge, et al., 2014). The process of grieving is complicated by the tasks of the developmental stage that child is going through, the relationship with the deceased, their coping skills including support systems, and the circumstances of the death (Slyter, 2012). She is in Erikson s stage of Industry versus Inferiority, so the clinician might see her express the thought that she has done something wrong that caused her mother s death. The father, although he can express his grief more directly, may find that he has conflicting feelings about processing his grief and simultaneously attending to his daughter s needs. He may go through the five stages of grief as proposed by Kubler Ross (Corr, 2015). These stages include denial, or shock; anger; bargaining; depression; and acceptance, or moving forward. Canadian professor, Marshall Mcluhan described media as artificial extensions of sensory existence, ; meaning, each media technology functions as a prosthetic, working in conjunction with our minds and bodies, allowing us to perceive more and reshaping our perception of the world (1969). They consisted of royal officials, wealthy merchants, conservative urban lawyers, people who disliked pro revolution citizens, southern slaves who looked to Britain in hope of freedom, and a multitude of Indian tribes. Contrary to popular view, one could argue that the American Revolution was not only a fight between the Patriots and the British, but it was really a civil war between the Rebels and the Tories. The fight between the Rebels and the Tories can be described as brutal because of the guerilla warfare, brigade war, tarring and feathering, and killings that were exhibited between the two sides. According to Tories: Fighting For the King in America s First Civil War, General Nathanael Greene stated, The division among the people is much greater than I imagined and the Whigs and Tories persecute each other, with little less than savage fury. There is nothing but murders and devastation in every quarter. (Thomas Allen p. 1). The Tories main concern was stability, which the British could provide to them unlike the rebels. Many times, this would divide families because they would disagree on whether they wanted to be a Tory or a Rebel. Additionally, if they decided to ultimately be a Tory, they would join the British army to fight against the Patriots or flee to Canada or back to England. This poses the question: what are the basic beliefs and generalizations to a Christian worldview, and is Christianity nothing but ancient tradition and biblical dogma, or is it more than that. Data center network (DCN) is the interconnection between the data centers. There are several existing architectures for the interconnections between these data centers. Several aspects are taken into consideration while designing data center network architecture. This paper shows analysis of several data center network architectures using metrics and their results on different network topologies. For security and routing data centers can use a hardware approach called Forwarding Unit or deploy middleboxes in the networks. Keywords component; formatting; style; styling; insert (key words) I. INTRODUCTION Conventional systems were too complex to operate and maintain. Many cables were required to connect all the components, and methods to accommodate and organize the data. A single mainframe required a great deal of power, and had to be cooled to avoid overheating. Security became important and computers were expensive. Data centers were then introduced where collectively data was stored and maintained. Data collection increased rapidly over years, which led to an increase in data centers. Communication between these servers became difficult and complex. For an efficient communication between the servers many architectures were proposed. Data center architectures and requirements can differ significantly. With data availability and security at stake, managing and storing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this essay, I intend to look at, as the question poses, whether A being is omnipotent if it has every power which it is logically possible to possess is an adequate definition of omnipotent and then move on to look at some other ways of defining omnipotence to see if they do any better. Omnipotent quite literally means all powerful, Omni all, potent powerful. Most theists believe there to be one all powerful, perfect being, so the idea of an omnipotent being is essential to most western religions. I will focus on Christianity, throughout my essay to allow me to focus on the question without getting sucked into discussing the different religious point of views. So the God we speak of is the traditional Christian one unless otherwise specified. There are plenty of quotes directly from the bible that promotes God as all powerful, though omnipotent is a later word. The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress. (Job 37:23) The discussion of how to define God is an essential one to theists as it can cause a lot of problems. If for example, we raise questions such as if God is all powerful why is there suffering in the world? Before we can move on to problems with this definition and other definitions we first need to look at them in some more depth. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Women Struggles During The 19th Century Labarron Collins Professor Griffin ENG 251 02 25 September 2014 Women Struggles in the 19th Century Since the beginning of time women have struggled to prove themselves to society so that people understand they are just as good as men. However, society has made a mockery of women for years. Using women for sex appeal and for personal gains. Women were those who stayed home cleaning, took care of the children, and prepared meals for the family. This sounds quite familiar with today s society, but women today aren t only limited to these things. Not only were women not allowed to work outside of home, but voting was off limits also. On June 4, 1919 the 19th amendment was passed by Congress. This honored all American women the right to vote. This Amendment was approved on August 18th 1920. On account of women suffrage, women should be granted equal rights politically and economically, especially after the hardship they faced. Because of their contributions to society, women exclusively should be allowed to help the country grow at an economical standpoint and politically while having the privilege of voting. At the beginning of the 19th century, the rights of women were limited. She could not take custody of her children in the event of divorce (Muntone) . This shows women had no power and men were in complete control. For example, today women usually go through courts to fight for custody of their children after a nasty divorce. Men Longing For The Male Gaze Analysis All it takes is a simple drive down the highway or a quick view of a magazine stand to see dozens of pictures of hypersexualized men and women advertising items like food or furniture or giving tips on how to be thinner, beautiful, or younger. These images have been a constant for majority of people s lives and so we as a society have become complacent to them, it is expected to only see very beautiful people on television shows, commercials, and other forms of entertainment and advertising. • 42. Grapes Of Wrath Transcendentalism In John Steinbeck s 1939 novel, The Grapes of Wrath, the theme of family is explored. Steinbeck follows a family of migrants moving westward during the Great Depression/Dust Bowl era, and chronicles their experiences as they live through overly inferior conditions. In Chapter Seventeen of the novel, Steinbeck discusses what life is like generally for migrant families as they journey out west. It becomes the norm for families to set up camp each night with other families and share their food and experiences. The migrants set up their own rules for their society and through these rules, the audience can understand how these people wish to be governed. Their ideals are very similar to the ideals of Henry David Thoreau, a transcendentalist author, poet, philosopher, and historian. In an essay entitled Civil Disobedience, Thoreau ... Despite the sporadic shift in of tone with words such as brightening and sunshine, the overall passage is very somber and serious. The authors use of dark, sorrow, lamentations, and black mass, to describe the situation presented the events as deceitful and wicked. 2) Where does the author use imagery? The author uses imagery in the passage more than once. For example, the lines black mass of cloud and hid the brightening stars, suggest that the cloud deprives the forest of it s of light. The imagery suggests that the forest is now dark and therefore gives the reader an ominous feeling about the events to come. 3) What is the theme of this passage? The theme of ... Symbolism: The forest in the story symbolizes evil and corruption because according to Puritan beliefs, the forest is the home of the devil. This is important to the story because Goodman Brown does encounter evil inside of the forest instead of in the village. Situational Irony: Situational irony is seen when Goodman Brown hides in the forest to avoid being seen by Goody Cloyse. Goody Cloyse, his catechism teacher, is known as holy among the villagers. The reader expects Goody Cloyse to be surprised and afraid upon encountering the old man, but the opposite happened she walked with him. This is situational irony because the reader expected Cloyse to avoid evil rather than joining into communion with it. Corrupt leaders, lack of resources, and failure in security can all lead to the downfall of a society. • 46. After Watching the Documentary Food Inc. Watching the documentary Food Inc, there were a few points that stood out most to me. I think one of the most important concerns that were brought up is the consumers not knowing the truth behind the food. Whether there is actual harm in our food or not, we still need to know what is going into our food. The harm that may actually be inside our food can be caused by how easy it is to produce crap food now days. Making mass produced food is a lot easier than it has been in the past because genetics have changed animals into growing faster and fatter. This causes harm to the environment by creating factories for these foods to be made, which causes pollution by emitting many CO2 gasses. However this isn t a concern for the producer. The producer is mainly focused on money they receive even if it causes harm to the environment or the consumers. The use of pesticides and other substances are used in foods, whether it s in the production of corn growing or in the food in general to help keep germs out. This also causes harm to the consumer and environment that we should be aware of. Throughout the film Food Inc, I noticed there were quite a few subtitles stating ... declined to interview for this film. This made me ask myself to why they chose not to interview for this documentary. This goes along the lines of point number one. All of the companies which preferred not to interview for this film are hiding information from the consumers, information that would make us not want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It means that, the one who comes earlier would be given priority in the sequence of their arrival. FCFS discipline of service delivery does not take any other parameter into consideration like quantity, monetary value of the order, etc. If we select this method of delivery to our clients, we are bound to release the order in the sequence of date (Greasley, 2008). Shortest Processing Time (SPT): This process of scheduling is used for completion of work within the due date. This method emphasizes on processing with the job ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We should adopt the policy of Backward Scheduling, while using this method, because the due date is given in this case and we are supposed to plan our work schedule, such that we can meet the commitments of due date. Critical Ratio Method: As we know that Critical Ratio method prioritize the work as per their significance, and take into consideration two critical factors, one when the work is required to be completed to meet the deadline and the second factor is how much time is required to complete the work. The use of this method for meeting the due date would lower the average work flow time, compared to First Come and First Serve method and Due Date method, but higher when compared to Shortest Processing Time. The average tardiness is lower than FMFS method and SPT method but higher than Due Date method. Recommendation After the analysis of all the four methods and evaluating their pros and cons of using them, we can find out that it would be wise to use Shortest Processing Time method. When we compare this method to other three methods, for meeting the commitments of our clients regarding due date, we can easily observe that this method is best suitable in present context. We have to deliver the order of our clients within a relatively short span of time with respect to the flow of work. As this method has the lowest average work flow time, although it has a bit higher average ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language states a thief is one whom commits theft. So one might ask, what exactly is theft? Since 2003 the RIAA has aggressively pursued music pirates on the internet who have contributed to a substantial amount of illegal downloading.
