Human Blood As A Blood Substitute
By the end of the 20th century many firms were trying to create a Blood Substitute and had pumped in
huge amount of money for its research. Biopure had spent over $200 Million with the primary goal of
developing a Human Blood Substitute. It s entry into the animal market was by chance and their
continued efforts in the field was an opportunistic pursuit. However, its animal product called
Oxyglobin had received the final FDA approval while Hemopure was about to enter phase III clinical
trials.
The Oxyglobin and Hemopure substitutes developed by Biopure have an advantage over blood
transfusions in many areas including blood type matching, universality in terms of donating, such as
O+ blood recipients. The blood substitutes also had a much longer storage life of 2 years as opposed to
the 6 week storage life of transfused blood. Furthermore, with the rise of diseases such as AIDS and
increasing public concern about the same, blood substitutes also helped mitigate that risk. Baxter
International and Northfield Laboratories products sourced their blood substitutes from human blood
whereas, Biopure sourced it from animal blood, cattle in particular. This put them in a better position
than their competitors. Also Biopure s Hemopure and Oxyglobin did not require refrigeration unlike
its competitor s products.
As technological improvements and industrialization increased, the use of automobiles increased
which also led to auto and industrial accidents. The blood substitutes for

Essay On Strength Training
The purpose of the study is to examine the effect of strength training exercises for the trunk and lower
extremity on strength, balance, and motor function in children with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy
(CP). The study applies to my intervention because I want to work on strengthening the trunk muscles
to increase core stability.
The study design of the research is a randomized controlled trial. It is appropriate for the study
question because it compared children who received strength training in the experimental group to
children who received conventional physical therapy treatment in the control group. Hence, the
outcome demonstrates whether strength training is more beneficial in improving strength, balance, and
motor function in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participants were randomly allocated into two groups by stratified randomization. The experimental
group received 6 weeks of strength training exercises and the control group received 6 weeks of
conventional intervention. Before the start of the intervention, general assessment of strength, balance,
and gross motor function was conducted by a qualified physical therapist. The experimental group
completed intensive strength training with progressive resisted exercises in different workstations. The
exercises were performed three times per week and each session lasted between 60 90 minutes. The
experimental group also received conventional physiotherapy treatment 1 2 days a week. In contrast,
the control group only received conventional physiotherapy treatment 3 5 sessions per week, with
each session lasting between 60 90 minutes. The conventional physiotherapy treatment included range
of motion and stretching exercise, mobility training, movement transitions, positioning or prescription
of adaptive devices, gait training, and functional activities.
There was a significant increase in strength in all the tested muscle groups for the experimental group
while only some muscle groups increased in strength for the control group. Increase in balance was
also noted when assessed with the PBS for the experimental group. Significant differences were

The New York Islanders Finished The 2016-17 Season On The...
The New York Islanders finished the 2016 17 season on the heels of a six game winning streak which
included wins over four teams that would not be advancing to the Stanley Cup playoffs. In the end, it
wasn t enough to continue their modest two season playoff streak. An ugly first quarter, marked by
questionable defensive coverage, poor transition play, a powerless play and questionable management
decisions will have them watching 16 teams compete for the ultimate prize from their living rooms.
The fact that their 94 points is just two shy of the NHL record for most while missing the postseason
(2014 15 Bruins had 96, 2006 07 Avalanche and 2010 11 Stars had 95) is no consolation, especially to

Examining The ChrysanthemumS The Lottery
Examining The Chrysanthemums The Lottery
In the WWII period, women entered the workforce is massive numbers a statistical anomaly that had
never existed in American society or hardly any other modern society, ever. They became empowered
and more women realized a wider range of their capabilities. A few decades after WWII, the feminist
movement would rise to change the course of women s history again. The success and fervor of the
feminist movement would not have been as potent or active without the change in experience for
women in the preceding decades. It is within some of these social and historical contexts which the
paper will consider the protagonist, Elisa Allen. The Chrysanthemums precedes WWII and the
beginning of another change in the culture of women by just a few years. Elisa Allen is a figure for the
foreshadowing of the future of American women. The paper considers how Steinbeck demonstrates
her spatial and metaphorical confinement via literary structures, characterization, and narrative arc.
The environment is a revealing metaphor or symbol in the story. It is sometimes a prominent aspect,
and sometimes subtle. Just as the fog rolled in during the winter of a nearly desolate ranch, so does a
storm or a fog of change approach for Elisa, as a figure for American women as the midway point of
the 20th century approached.
John Steinbeck s famed short story, The Chrysanthemums, was published in Harper s

Personal Experience Is The World Can Not Be Fully...
Personal experience is a gateway to recollection, attitudes, and knowledge. By trying different ice
cream flavors an individual can establish a preferred flavor, by playing in the outdoors an individual
can decipher his or her ideal season, and by looking at an array of colors an individual can determine a
favorite hue. Without personal experience, an individual inherently lacks a certain depth of knowledge
about the qualitative components of experience, and can only hold understandings based upon
physical components. In Epiphenomenal Qualia, Frank Jackson asserts that physicalism is false
because the world cannot be fully described based solely upon physical descriptions. Jackson proposes
a thought experiment known as the Knowledge Argument that seeks to clarify the distinction between
formal knowledge and qualitative experience. Supporters of physicalism would contend that the qualia
is only relevant to ability, and formal understanding is the only significant component to knowledge.
However, Jackson s thought experiment successfully identifies an error in physicalism by
demonstrating that ability teaches a type of knowledge that cannot be taught through purely physical
terminology, which therefore affirms that physicalism proposes ideas that are narrow to be entirely
valid. Foremost, it is prudent to emphasize the difficulty in clearly defining physicalism. The general
idea is that science can tell us everything about the world. Specifically, physicalism asserts that

The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis
In The Great Divorce, C.S. Lewis provides an allegorical description of a dreamers journey from hell
to heaven. The Narrator of the book takes a journey on a bus from the grey town, hell, to just outside
of heaven. While he is making this trip from the grey town to heaven, he converses with some of his
fellow travelers. These travelers are all different, yet all have the mindset of not being able to leave the
darkness of the grey town and go to the joy that is heaven. Through his talent in story telling and
writing, C.S. Lewis provides many thoughts and questions to be discussed and pondered upon. He
leaves ideas open for interpretation through allegorical writing, providing room for the reader to be
brought into the story through thought. He gives the reader a thought of what Heaven and hell are like,
and how they relate to each other; along with images of how God works in the world and afterlife, and
what is waiting for us after we die through the images of the afterlife. The opening of the book brings
the reader into the story through the eyes of the narrator. It is as if the reader is the narrator and is
going through the grey town himself. We see the book and the images of heaven and hell by the way
that the narrator experiences and describes it. This is a great way to go about writing this story,
because it has a more intimate connection between the reader and the story. The narrator goes around
the grey town and into the bus talking to all the characters he sees.

Trauma can be described as a severe emotional or mental distress caused by an experience that
impedes one s ability to cope. According to the American Psychiatric Association (2000), Traumatic
experiences can significantly alter a person s perception of themselves, their environment and the
people around them. Traumatic experiences can manifest itself and, in turn, have a greater impact on
one s ability to function. The ongoing effects of trauma and the intensity of the experience as stated by
Evans and Coccoma (2014), can have an impact on all aspects of human life that is inclusive of the
biological, cognitive, emotional and social interactions. Trauma is experienced in various ways, such

The Monster Clytemnestra in Aeschylus Oresteia
In the three part play Oresteia, Clytemnestra is a character that manipulates, lies, cheats, and murders.
From the very first moment we hear of her existence, we know she is unlike the women of her time.
Oh she s a woman all right, a woman with a man s heart. (11) the watchman in the first scene of
Agamemnon tells the audience. This tells us that she does not act in a way that the watchman
associates with the women around him. Already, in the first few lines of the first installment of the
play, we know that Clytemnestra is different. Throughout the play, Clytemnestra tries as hard as she
can to keep herself on top, stopping at nothing to get what she wants. She wants to rule the city and
she wants to have power over the people in her life. She is power hungry, manipulative, and
determined. This determination is not a good thing for the people around Clytemnestra. Because of her
need for power, she ends up turning on almost everyone she is supposed to love. This is what leads to
her eventual death. Clytemnestra is a dynamic character, who does everything she can to be on top

Mooc And Document Orientated Nosql Database
MOOC and document orientated NoSQL database
Abstract:
MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) is getting popularity in not only in Universities worldwide but
also in the people who want to enrich their skill sets. As the demand grows, different MOOC websites
are taking appropriate action to provide more dynamic environment. They are using NoSQL to
maintain the data. Most of the MOOC websites using Document type NoSQL databases to manage
videos, forums and assignments. But when it comes to decide which NoSQL database should be
implemented there are many choices like MongoDB, CouchDB, ClusterPoint etc. and consequently a
question arises why majority of MOOC websites are using MongoDB instead of CouchDB which is
also a NoSQL document oriented database? In the following paper it will be more clear which
database MongoDB or CouchDB in the present time is more suitable to use for a MOOC website.

Alfred Hitchcock Use Of Narration In North By Northwest
In the movie North by Northwest, by Alfred Hitchcock he shows how a film can have an influence on
a historical event. Alfred Hitchcock was born August 13, 1899 and died April 29, 1980 being
sometimes referred as The Master of Suspense. During Hitchcock s career some major historical
events took place, in which he used his films to reflect and sometimes respond to those events.
Hitchcock s films both reflected and sometimes also intervened in contemporary social and political
events during his career.
Alfred Hitchcock s film North by Northwest, is today considered one of the greatest films of all time.
In 1995 the film was picked by the United States Library of Congress to be saved in the National Film
Registry for being important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The types of narration he uses in the film North by Northwest are considered two of the basic forms of
narration. The two forms of narration that he uses in the film are restricted and omniscient. This is
important because the omniscient type of narration is where the person watching the movie knows
what is going on in the story. Unlike the restricted form of narration where it is more like real life as in
having a more narrow view of events. The fact that he used the omniscient type of narration is
important because having the complete knowledge of what is happening in a story actually creates
suspense by not knowing when and how events would take place. In the film Hitchcock does not use
the two different types of narration separately but actually combines them together. This shows that he
did not make the film based on just a certain tone but actually changed tones throughout the film. For
example, when Eve is about to send a letter to Vandamm the tone of the film suddenly changes to
suspense. This is very important because it changes the view of Eve and other events in the movie to
some characters. This shows that the tone changes successfully to suspense by making Thornhill and
some other characters question many things that are happening in the film. Hitchcock s way of using
this keeps the viewer intrigued even as the story starts to unfold as the movie

Flaws Of The Islamic Religion
Flaws In The Islamic Religion By Kyle Lindsey
Apologetics, Mr. Sweis
July 2015
Part 1: Thesis In 1900, the world was made up of 12.3 % Muslims. In 2010, The number rose to
22.5% making Islam the fastest growing religion in the entire world, exceeding even the growth rate
of Christianity. The American Muslim Council has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and Islamic
community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past 12 years.
Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely flawed?
Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual flaws.
Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to the truth of
the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also helps to bring out
the accuracy of the Christian religion.
How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing so
rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of its
followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One way to
show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is able to more
clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history and

The film is set in Cummeragunja Australia in 1968, when racism was paramount. However, Wayne

Diet And Exercise Of Living A Healthy Life
Jessica Gourneau
Professor Vanderlinde
English 101
8 November 2015
Diet and Exercise Many people struggle with living a healthy life or struggle to know what exactly a
healthy life means. Having good diet and exercise habits are an important part of living a healthy life.
Just because someone may look fit and healthy, does not mean they are healthy. In fact, they could be
just as unhealthy as an obsess person. This is also the same for someone who may not look like they
are healthy. Even if they are overweight, they can still have a clean diet and a healthy heart. The only
true way to determine if someone is living a healthy life and eating properly along with getting the
right amount of exercise is by taking a closer look at their activity level and diet. The foundation to
staying healthy is having a good meal plan. There are many different factors to consider when
customizing a meal plan for someone. Their age, existing health issues, and the amount of activity are
some of the main factors. For example, a younger person who is physical active will not have to limit
their diet as much as someone who is older and is not physical active. The average person should aim
for 6 11 servings of grains, 3 5 of fruits and vegetables, 2 3 of dairy and meat, and also limit the
amount of sugar and fats. This is a good base for someone to start off with until a meal plan can be
written specifically for them. Even though diet is the most important part of living a healthy

Hypocrisy Of So Called Honor Killings
Immorality of So Called Honor Killings Every year, similar stories of a young girl or woman
murdered by her own family occur. The plot is simple. A girl develops an innocent romantic
relationship with a man of her age and soon, her family finds out about her relationship. Or, a girl s
parents have planned an arranged marriage for their daughter but she does not accept the suitor. In
both cases, the family feels disrespected by the girl and so she has to be killed. This is also known as
an honor killing . Every year, thousands of honor killings affect mostly women and some men. When
individuals disrespect their family, the family can restore their honor by murdering the victim. Honor
killings are on the rise with increasing statistics every year. This increase can be influenced by people
s inability to stop/prevent honor killings because they do not believe honor killings are immoral.
However, this paper will discuss why honor killings do not have a moral basis, nor are justified. Islam
does not condone these murders, so religion is not related with honor killings. These attacks are
largely targeted towards women, and societal attitudes towards women are increasingly backwards
(Minhas 1). Worst of all, there are many cases that are underreported, little media coverage and
inadequate legal support for victims. Because of the increasing rate and seriousness of this issue, there
are many actions that we, as a people, should take to stop honor killings. Origins of

A Good Teacher

The Narrative Structure And Emotional Perspective
How It Feels to Be Colored Me is a narrative essay by Zora Neale Hurston that recounts her
experience of having her identity being drastically shifted from her personal self to a nameless colored
girl living in a predominantly white society. Hurston uses descriptive language, metaphors, and
symbols to help the reader empathize with her experience rather than simply understand it at a factual
level. The narrative structure and emotional perspective style Hurston uses makes the events easy to
follow. The following is an in depth analysis of the literary elements Hurston uses in this piece.
The opening paragraph is straightforward and establishes that she sees herself as an ordinary colored
person with no real distinguishing traits. It is written in the present tense, suggesting that this is the
author s current self image.
The next three paragraphs describe the culture of the town she grew up in as a child. It opens with an
odd statement: I remember the very day that I became colored. This is meant to be taken figuratively,
as in the day her race became a part of her identity, because people generally don t spontaneously
change color. She recounts that day later in the essay. In these three paragraphs she describes her life
before she realizes what her race means for her. The relationship between white and colored people in
the town is limited. Most of the all black town seem to be afraid of white people, but some of them,
including the author, are just curious. This

Epiphany In Miss Brill
As the story Miss Brill begins, Miss Brill comes across as a woman who has a childlike mind and is
isolated from others around. She sits on a bench in the Jardins Publiques and her imagination makes
the people around her become characters in the play . By the end of the short story Miss Brill it is
shown that she doesn t have an epiphany. An epiphany is usually a sudden manifestation or perception
of the essential nature or meaning of something. An intuitive grasp of reality through something (such
as an event) usually simple and striking an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure. Also
known as a revealing scene or moment (Merriam webster.com). I believe Miss Brill fails to come to
the realization of her isolation and loneliness.
The first indication Miss Brill doesn t reach an epiphany was her childlike mind, and that is because to
Miss Brill the fur is a person. She cherishes and speaks to the scarf as if it is a person. She says
phrases like Dear little thing (82), What has happened to me (82), and ... Little Rogue (82). Her
interactions with the fur helps her feel as if she isn t lonely. The fox fur gives her company and allows
her to have a form of interaction that she doesn t have with the people who she sees in the park on her
Sunday mornings. The fur is a distraction from Miss Brill s loneliness and her sense of isolation. It
allows for her to be unaware of her life and what it has come to. The fur is one of her few cover ups to

He spends his time with coloured folks in town and at home because as Jem Finch explains, He likes
em better n he likes us. Raymond Dolphus did not care about the colour of a person s skin at a time
when segregation and racism were prominent. If being an outcast is the only way to be with the people
he loves, he will accept. When Mr. Raymond comes to town, he is often seen accompanied by a bottle
in a brown paper bag. The bottle is speculated to be whisky but Jem, Scout, and Dill learn that Mr.
Raymond is only drinking Coca Cola. The children ask why he lies to the public about being a
drunkard and he tells them, It ain t honest but it sure helps[...] Dolphus Raymond is ahead of the time
he lives in and does not want to be bothered for it. He chooses to be viewed as a man who cannot stay
sober enough to realize the situation he is in. If the town of Maycomb knew Mr. Dolphus is not in fact
constantly intoxicated, there would be outrage around his lifestyle, consequently Raymond would not
receive the peace and quiet he yearns for. His philosophy around this is that if people are going to
judge and think bad of him anyway, he might as well do something to ease their minds when they ask
themselves how a white man can live the way he does. The Finch children and Dill make a point that
Mr. Raymond comes from a wealthy family and surely has the means to live somewhere nicer than the
outskirts of town with the coloured people. Still curious, they ask why he

Katherine Beattie s Weekend, By Ann Beattie
Exceptional artists often create in a way that allows for infinite interpretations of their work. However,
it is the author s job to immerse their readers into the storyline as they grasp an understanding of the
overall mood and feeling of the story. Some may argue that patterns within a work may be merely
coincidental, but in Ann Beattie s Weekend, the repeated mentioning of weather patterns and the
fireplace are used in order to portray a certain mood throughout the story. These patterns allow the
reader to deeply connect with the character s emotions and understand the ambiance without the
narrator directly stating how the character is feeling. In Weekend, Ann Beattie s intentional use of
outside forces such as the rain, the temperature, and the presence of fire allows the reader to develop a
deeper understanding concerning the ongoing tensions and emotions in the atmosphere throughout the
entire story. For the duration of the story, the rain is mentioned constantly as the mood shifts according
to its presence or absence. Whenever it rains, Lenore seems to gain clarity regarding her toxic
relationship with her husband; whereas in the absence of rain, everyone shifts into a state of oblivion
as they pretend these immoral incidents between George and his lover, Sarah, are not occurring. As
George and Sarah leave for their outdoor escapade, Julie, who is George s other guest, and Lenore
hear the rain commence. The beginning of the rain prompts lucidity for Lenore

Roman Religion s Influence On The Rise Of Rome
The beginning of Rome started as a Greek migration around 750 B. C., when Greeks established more
than fifty poleis in southern Italy and in Sicily. According to Roman tradition, Rome freed itself from
Etruscan king, Sextus Tarquinius, the brother of King Tarquinius Superbus, he raped a noblewoman
Lucretia and she killed herself. This caused Romans to rise up against the king. After, Romans
established the republic. This was the start to what is known as one of the most powerful empires the
earth has seen. Being that Rome grew to be one of the largest empires in the ancient world; it is

Rome s sewer system was most likely used by the germanic tribes that took part of Rome. And, it

Women Within The Grecian Culture
Ancient Greece as a place and period time in our extensive history was a place of patriarchal power,
controlled almost entirely by the masculine sphere and association with the Gods. It was a time in
history that produced some of the most famous thinkers however they were all men. Women within
the Grecian culture where very much the passive sex, confined to housework and almost never
educated. It is interesting therefore that the characters that have emerged at the exposure of the phallic
philosophical pen still remain as an ally to the feminist movement and are relevant to our way of
thinking today, acting as feminist pioneers both in theory and literature, helping the canon evolve

Medea, the Gorgon monster who seduces men, turning them to stone and Antigone who is arguably
still one of the most powerful images we have of female strength to date. In their own right and
agency, they all act as feminist pioneers Sophocles Antigone, along with Medea are potentially the
best example we have for how Myth has shaped and developed the feminist movement. Sophocles
drama Antigone, written around 441 BCE, is one of his three Theban plays that chronicle the dark
fortunes of the house of Oedipus, king of Thebes. After Oedipus death, there is a struggle over the
kingship between his two sons Eteocles and Polyneices. The army of Polyneices marches on Thebes
and is defeated, but both brothers are killed in the battle. The new ruler, Creon, decrees that whereas
Eteocles will be buried with full honours for defending the city, the rebel Polyneices must be denied
holy rites and left to rot in the field and if anyone disobeys him they are to be punished by death. The
state and patriarchy take high place within the novel as it does in many Grecian teaching places. The
play was used to teach the subjects of the citadel about respect for the law and respect for society. We
must therefore ask questions concerning the place of a feminine tragic hero, and the effect that it
would have had.

London Riots
In this essay, I will be proposing a suitable research method to identify the causes of the 2011 London
Riots that took place between the 6th August and the 10th August, which resulted in lawlessness
chaos, looting, arson, attacks, etc. My aim is to determine why the riots happened, so that such
violence can be prevented in the future. I will do this using scientific methodology and choose the
most appropriate method for my research. Firstly, a summary of the Experimental Method. It
originates from a research question, but you could say the idea behind the question is derived from
intuition. This leads to a hypothesis, which is the initial building block in the scientific method.

Perihelion Distances
Space is extremely vast, and planets are tiny specks by comparison to the distance between them,
which means that a random object flying through the solar is extremely unlikely to collide with Earth,
and only a small number of the objects in our solar system even have the possibility of coming near
Earth. First, it is necessary to understand how astronomical orbits are defined. Three key terms, as
explained by WSU s introductory astronomy course, are the semi major axis, the perihelion distance,
and the aphelion distance. The semi major axis is half of the elliptical orbit s main axis, and is also the
object s average distance to the sun, the perihelion distance is the closest distance the object ever gets

The Character Of Romeo Montague in William Shakespeare s...
The Character Of Romeo Montague in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Romeo is one of the
main characters in Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet and is portrayed as a tragic figure, who is
guided by his destiny. Shakespeare initially introduces Romeo to be a romantic sentimentalist, who is
over obsessed with his own emotions. Romeo, however, loses these personality traits towards the end
of the play, and becomes more mature after falling deeply in love with Juliet. His love for her is strong
and over whelming, and Shakespeare vividly represents this by dramatic visual moments throughout
the play, culminating in the tragic climax of Romeo s suicide, to join with his Juliet in death. ... Show

This is one of the many themes that Shakespeare provides to suggest foreboding early on in the play.
The omen is ambiguous as it firstly implies Romeo is worrying about something that will not happen
and is generally nervous about arriving uninvited. However, it could imply that in going to the Ball, he
will meet Juliet, which will cause drastic events to happen, and eventually lead to both their deaths.
This is one of the main themes during the play and is successfully entwined in Romeo s script to
introduce foreboding to the audience without the character realising it. He disregards the omen, and
continues with his friends to the Ball. On arrival, he seeks Rosaline, but his attentions rapidly divert to
Juliet Capulet, She seems to hang upon the cheek of night displays Romeo s persona to be fickle and
to have a fluctuating nature. He had before thought Rosaline to be beautiful, but now he sees Juliet as
the most beautiful woman in the world. This is one of the more romantic traits of Romeo, and
Shakespeare uses many metaphors and similes in Romeo s speech and successfully interlaces them to
represent the poetic and child like wonder that Romeo experiences when he sets eyes on Juliet. Romeo
s role is consistent throughout as The Romantic Lover ,

Improving Medication Communication And Medication
Improving Medication Communication People become ill every day and need medications to help
them fight whatever disease or infection they may be suffering from. Medications play such a vital
part in human lives today. Physicians are always coming up with new medications that they would like
to try for a certain illness. As patients get prescribed new medications they need to be taught the
purpose and the side effect of the drug. Communicating the purpose and side effects of drugs are vital
components for patient safety and also compliance. The need to educate patients about the
medications they are receiving is becoming more and more important. Patients may have no idea why
they are taking the medication that they are prescribed. When patients know why they are taking a
medication and what some of the side effects are to that medication they are able to keep themselves
safe. Patient safety related to medication communication is something that may be overlooked in
settings that prescribe medications. The more knowledgeable the patient is about the medications they
are taking the better they are to understand their specific disease process and improve their own safety.
A patient s understanding of his or her medications is vital to a satisfactory patient experience and it
also drives safety and quality (Improving Medication Communication with Ask 3/Teach 3, 2013).

Boogeyman took his third child. Now he believes that the Boogeyman will take him too, and he is
afraid to open his closets at home. His psychiatrist, Dr.Harper understands him well, too well. At the

that words like Jesus , Christ and god often are used in his speech. This obvious contradiction shows
us that Billing has an unstable personality. He is very self centered and arrogant in way of behaving
towards other people. He feels superior to women and talks openly and calmly about being a wife

have a split personality or if he is just filled with fear that makes him paranoid. His many
hallucinations reinforce the idea of him being paranoid and not being in control of his actions. One of
the first things we hear Billings say is that he killed all his children, he says : All I did was kill my
kids. He shows how relaxed he is about the killings. We are at the same time

Creon Character Analysis
Throughout the story of Antigone, written by Sophocles, the minor characters play different
significant roles during the play. They are able to influence many of the major characters by their
different actions. Without the use of minor characters, many of the important decisions made by major
characters would not have been made during the play. There are many characters who were able to
influence the king, Creon. Specifically, the minor character, Leader, plays a major role in the character
development of Creon, from the beginning to the end of the play. Leader uses his actions, and unique
word choices to influence the decisions that Creon will make throughout the play.

admits that Leader was the one who was right, and does as he says. He does not question Leader s
opinion, instead blatantly says that he is right, and moves on from the topic at hand. Following this, on
page 54, Creon inquires of Leader, What should I do? , Leader responds, Go quickly: free Antigone
from her vault, And build a tomb for the body of Polyneices. Not only does Creon do exactly what
Leader says, but he was the one to initiate the conversation. Creon came to Leader to ask him for his
guidance, rather than leader being the first to go to the king and offer his advice. Near the end of the
book, on page 73, Leader has all but taken over the kingdom. He is the only one who offers insight to
Creon, and the only one who Creon will listen to. He told Creon, You must go yourself, you cannot

Secularisation Of Religion In Australia Essay
The process of secularization arises not from the loss of faith but from the loss of social interest in the
world of faith. It begins the moment men feel that religion is irrelevant to the common way of life and
that society as such has nothing to do with the truths of faith. (Dawson Russello, 1998) Contemporary
society has exposed Australians of all ages to secularism making it vital that citizens adapt and
strengthen a personal and global conscience to keep fundamental religious values, morals and ethics
relevant. Humanity will prosper once there is a realization of the importance of a spiritual future. This
concept can truly be understood once society has a deep understanding for the secular dispute between
church versus state, the powerful depiction the media has of religion as well as the correlation between
secularism and immigration rates.

The Selfish Gene Sparknotes
The Selfish Gene
The Selfish Gene is a novel written by Richard Dawkins where he explains his theory on the Selfish
Gene. The Selfish Gene is commonly misinterpreted and Dawkins uses this novel as his attempt to
clarify his thoughts on the Selfish Gene. The main themes presented in the book are Concepts of
altruistic and selfish behavior, Genetic definition of self interest, Evolution of aggressive behavior,
Kinship theory, Sex Ratio theory, Reciprocal altruism, Deceit and Natural selection of sex differences.
Many people question and or disagree with Dawkins views on the selfish gene but his ideas on the
subject are logical.
In the opening first chapter Dawkins carefully explains that the book is not is not a framework for
morality or a set of behavioral guidelines. What Dawkins argues, is that all animals are machines

opposition to the working class prosperity seems to be more in opposition to the changing culture,
which was becoming more automated and industry driven, than it was trying to illicit change.
Regarding automation and middle class prosperity, it seems that Kerouac and others feared the loss of
nature to industry as well as one s time to be able to enjoy nature.
The fight against automation was however, somewhat subservient to the goal of social change
regarding individual rights. The civil rights movement sought changes to the system of racial injustice.
Resistance to this movement helped bring about the FSM and the fight for one s rights to free speech
and assembly. The FSM was a movement dedicated to promoting equality and individual rights, yet it

Anyone Lived In A Pretty Town Analysis
Cummings casual and vernacular punctuation and repetition in [anyone lived in a pretty town]
narrows the gap between himself and the readers by conveying his message more authentically. He
applied plenty of parentheses into his poem and relies heavily on enjambment while two complete
sentences and seven parentheses appeared. Authors often use parentheses to make comment and
emphasize a point, so in Cummings casual, he adds a large amount of comments to his content. As an
illustration, he writes, anyone lived in a pretty how town / (with up so floating many bells down) , and
the content in the parentheses comments to the previous line saying that life and death occurs all the
time in this town. Moreover, many alternated repetition, those

High end builds as the game it shall be running up to standard will be BattleField 4 which at the
moment is the highest demanding game in both graphical power and processing power.
By choosing BattleField 4 the hardware used within the systems are of high end range yet to run the

William Carlos Williams s Poem Marriage
Poems are the best to express thoughts to readers, many writers choose to write poems to speak their
feelings which plain ordinary texts will not do. Three poems have special ideas about marriage, they
are: Marriage by William Carlos Williams, Marriea Love by Kuan Tao Sheng, and an untitled one by
Apache Song. All three of them have a central idea of marriage; two people are one individual after
marriage, one cannot separate from the other one. These poems are short but they carry deep morals
about marriage. They have a common characteristics where they all visualize the bonding between the
couple into things we feel comfortable about. There are three main aspects of poems content,
structure, and tone I would discuss about how the authors uses similar writing styles to bring out the
common idea behind. All contents of the three poems are very visual. In Marriage, Williams describes
men and women as streams and fields and in Marriea Love, Kuan describes them as clays. Similarly,
Song describes the relationship between married couples as solutions to problem, like, shelter for rain
and warmth for coldness. Visualizing helps reader to understand the author s point of view on
marriage. We can see that all three of them implies that, after a couple is married they become one
individual and should not and cannot be separated. Marriage says that men and women as streams and
fields. We often see them appear very closely and one another cannot be absent. He

Sexism in Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers Essay
In Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers, Minnie Foster is accused of killing her husband. This
accusation forces Mrs. Peters to choose between the law and her inner feelings. Her husband is the
sheriff of Dickenson County, Iowa. It has always been a small, quiet town where nothing really
happens. Mrs. Peters is faced with an internal struggle. On one side, she is married to the law and on
the other side she understands what Minnie has been through. Her husband used to mentally abuse her
to the point where she is now basically secluded from everyone and everything in the world. Mr. Hale
even makes the comment, Though I said at the same time that I didn t know as what his wife wanted
made much difference to John (260). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The worst part of it all is that she had a little pet bird that she treated like her own child and John
Wright has killed by wringing its neck. She has nothing to love or care for and definitely has no one to
love and care for her in the way she so desperately needs. When John Wright kills her only friend that
brings her happiness, her little bird, she has to kill him. Minnie always had friends and loved life until
this man kept her away from it. Minnie has every right in the world to kill her husband.
Glaspell also gives the impression that all men are jerks. For example, the men constantly make fun of
the women and put them down for everything they do or do not do. In the beginning of the story the
men complained of dirty towels when Minnie is in jail and has not even been home to clean up (264).
Even though many men may be like that, not all men are. These types of men are the ones who give
the rest of the gender a bad name. Glaspell was not at fault by making some men look bad, but she
could have put at least one man in the story who was kind and understanding. In the story, she makes
every man look like a jerk. By doing that, Glaspell basically says that is how all men are and that they
cannot and will not be sensitive or be able to understand women in any way, shape or form. She is
wrong. She does not give men enough credit. There are plenty of men who are sensitive and Glaspell
refuses to show that side of the male gender.

Public Health Vs. Federal Law
PUBLIC HEALTH GOVERNENCE (STATE Vs. FEDERAL)
For a long time, mandatory immunizations on populations have been debatable with respect to public
health law in the United States. One argued topic is whether the level of authority to administer such
mandates resides at the federal or state or state level. An analysis of the United States Constitution
provides some clarity. The role of the Federal Government is somewhat limited with regards to public
health, and its role marks a clear distinction from state and local authority over health matters. The
Commerce Clause, within Article I of the United States Constitution, gives federal jurisdiction over
certain public health issues. It states that Congress shall have the power to regulate commerce with
foreign nationals, and among the several states. (CITE CONSTITUTION). This limited authority
allows federal agencies to introduce and administer regulations to prevent the spread of communicable
diseases from foreign countries and between the states, as in quarantine. However, no mandatory
vaccination programs or regulations regarding the implementation of a mandatory vaccination
program exist at this level. (CITE SWENDIMAN p.7). The 10th Amendment of the United States
Constitution provides the authority by which states draft and implement public health policy and
effort. It states, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it
to the States, are reserved to the States

Alfred Russel Wallace And His Modern Biogeographical Legacy
Special Assignment
There s No Place Like Home: Alfred Russel Wallace and His Modern Biogeographical Legacy was
presented by Lynne R. Parenti, Ph.D, on April 17,2015. Dr. Parenti presented in University of Hawaii
at Manoa s BioMed building in Room B 103 at 3:30 to 4:30 pm. Dr. Lynne Parenti is a curator of
museum fishes at the National Museum of Natural History in the Smithsonian Institution. I chose to
attend this presentation because the field of biogeography seemed interesting as well as the history of
biogeography.
Although many know that Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, Alfred Russel Wallace helped
Darwin propose the theory of evolution. According to Dr. Parenti, Wallace also believed that biology
predicts geology. In addition, Dr. Parenti believes that on the date Wallace wrote a letter about a
remarkable observation he made, the field of modern biogeography began. Wallace observed two
distinct faunas the Indo Malayan Biotic Area and the Australian Biotic Area that were separated by a
demarcation that was later named Wallace s Line. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parenti states that there are three principals to biogeography: endemism, terrain fidelity, and area
classification. In terrain classification, groups of endemic species are predicted by using maps.
Besides using mapping to interpret areas of endemic species, biogeologist use the comparative
method. The comparative method compares animals found in certain biotas. She further explains that
there are two mechanisms that explain endemic distributions: dispersal and vicariance. Dr. Parenti
adds that she is very much in favor for vicariance. She explains that dispersion explains the movement
within an endemic area, but there are no generation

A Single Advertisement
A single advertisement can have hundreds of effects on mankind every day without anybody noticing.
It gives the indication that life is not whole until the one last item is acquired. Then one will be
considered cool and accepted in today s society. Many believe once they hit their mid life crisis. The
mid life crisis hits around age 35 to 40 when men realize they are not fitting in as much as he once did.
Men s lives have significantly changed and now he has money to buy things he was not able to before.
Because his financial status is finally in the black, he is able to pick up his head from the computer
desk and look around. Things making men look more stylish and hip in today s society. Advertisers
seem to hit this hard. They use cynicism to make the men going through their crisis believe if they get
the object of their desire, they will be the coolest guy on the block.
This advertisement portrays the type of man that every man wants to be as well as the type of woman
every man wants to be with; really hitting the mid life crisis bone hard. He s a middle aged man that
obviously has stayed in shape his whole life. Most middle aged men are married with kids and a little
gut hanging over their belt. When the men reading this ad see a man like David Beckham, they start
questioning if they look like that to other women. In the process, the ad actually gives an unintended
effect to destroy self esteem. When the advertisement hurts that self esteem, men tend to buy what

  • 2. Human Blood As A Blood Substitute By the end of the 20th century many firms were trying to create a Blood Substitute and had pumped in huge amount of money for its research. Biopure had spent over $200 Million with the primary goal of developing a Human Blood Substitute. It s entry into the animal market was by chance and their continued efforts in the field was an opportunistic pursuit. However, its animal product called Oxyglobin had received the final FDA approval while Hemopure was about to enter phase III clinical trials. The Oxyglobin and Hemopure substitutes developed by Biopure have an advantage over blood transfusions in many areas including blood type matching, universality in terms of donating, such as O+ blood recipients. The blood substitutes also had a much longer storage life of 2 years as opposed to the 6 week storage life of transfused blood. Furthermore, with the rise of diseases such as AIDS and increasing public concern about the same, blood substitutes also helped mitigate that risk. Baxter International and Northfield Laboratories products sourced their blood substitutes from human blood whereas, Biopure sourced it from animal blood, cattle in particular. This put them in a better position than their competitors. Also Biopure s Hemopure and Oxyglobin did not require refrigeration unlike its competitor s products. As technological improvements and industrialization increased, the use of automobiles increased which also led to auto and industrial accidents. The blood substitutes for ... The study applies to my intervention because I want to work on strengthening the trunk muscles to increase core stability. The study design of the research is a randomized controlled trial. The New York Islanders finished the 2016 17 season on the heels of a six game winning streak which included wins over four teams that would not be advancing to the Stanley Cup playoffs. In the end, it wasn t enough to continue their modest two season playoff streak. An ugly first quarter, marked by questionable defensive coverage, poor transition play, a powerless play and questionable management decisions will have them watching 16 teams compete for the ultimate prize from their living rooms. The fact that their 94 points is just two shy of the NHL record for most while missing the postseason (2014 15 Bruins had 96, 2006 07 Avalanche and 2010 11 Stars had 95) is no consolation, especially to the captain. Examining The ChrysanthemumS The Lottery Examining The Chrysanthemums The Lottery In the WWII period, women entered the workforce is massive numbers a statistical anomaly that had never existed in American society or hardly any other modern society, ever. The success and fervor of the feminist movement would not have been as potent or active without the change in experience for women in the preceding decades. It is within some of these social and historical contexts which the paper will consider the protagonist, Elisa Allen. The Chrysanthemums precedes WWII and the beginning of another change in the culture of women by just a few years. Elisa Allen is a figure for the foreshadowing of the future of American women. The paper considers how Steinbeck demonstrates her spatial and metaphorical confinement via literary structures, characterization, and narrative arc. The environment is a revealing metaphor or symbol in the story. It is sometimes a prominent aspect, and sometimes subtle. Just as the fog rolled in during the winter of a nearly desolate ranch, so does a storm or a fog of change approach for Elisa, as a figure for American women as the midway point of the 20th century approached. • 6. Personal Experience Is The World Can Not Be Fully... Personal experience is a gateway to recollection, attitudes, and knowledge. By trying different ice cream flavors an individual can establish a preferred flavor, by playing in the outdoors an individual can decipher his or her ideal season, and by looking at an array of colors an individual can determine a favorite hue. Without personal experience, an individual inherently lacks a certain depth of knowledge about the qualitative components of experience, and can only hold understandings based upon physical components. In Epiphenomenal Qualia, Frank Jackson asserts that physicalism is false because the world cannot be fully described based solely upon physical descriptions. Jackson proposes a thought experiment known as the Knowledge Argument that seeks to clarify the distinction between formal knowledge and qualitative experience. Supporters of physicalism would contend that the qualia is only relevant to ability, and formal understanding is the only significant component to knowledge. However, Jackson s thought experiment successfully identifies an error in physicalism by demonstrating that ability teaches a type of knowledge that cannot be taught through purely physical terminology, which therefore affirms that physicalism proposes ideas that are narrow to be entirely valid. Foremost, it is prudent to emphasize the difficulty in clearly defining physicalism. The general idea is that science can tell us everything about the world. The Narrator of the book takes a journey on a bus from the grey town, hell, to just outside of heaven. While he is making this trip from the grey town to heaven, he converses with some of his fellow travelers. These travelers are all different, yet all have the mindset of not being able to leave the darkness of the grey town and go to the joy that is heaven. Through his talent in story telling and writing, C.S. Lewis provides many thoughts and questions to be discussed and pondered upon. He leaves ideas open for interpretation through allegorical writing, providing room for the reader to be brought into the story through thought. He gives the reader a thought of what Heaven and hell are like, and how they relate to each other; along with images of how God works in the world and afterlife, and what is waiting for us after we die through the images of the afterlife. The opening of the book brings the reader into the story through the eyes of the narrator. It is as if the reader is the narrator and is going through the grey town himself. We see the book and the images of heaven and hell by the way that the narrator experiences and describes it. This is a great way to go about writing this story, because it has a more intimate connection between the reader and the story. The types of narration he uses in the film North by Northwest are considered two of the basic forms of narration. The two forms of narration that he uses in the film are restricted and omniscient. This is important because the omniscient type of narration is where the person watching the movie knows what is going on in the story. Unlike the restricted form of narration where it is more like real life as in having a more narrow view of events. The fact that he used the omniscient type of narration is important because having the complete knowledge of what is happening in a story actually creates suspense by not knowing when and how events would take place. In the film Hitchcock does not use the two different types of narration separately but actually combines them together. This shows that he did not make the film based on just a certain tone but actually changed tones throughout the film. For example, when Eve is about to send a letter to Vandamm the tone of the film suddenly changes to suspense. This is very important because it changes the view of Eve and other events in the movie to some characters. This shows that the tone changes successfully to suspense by making Thornhill and some other characters question many things that are happening in the film. Hitchcock s way of using this keeps the viewer intrigued even as the story starts to unfold as the movie ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2010, The number rose to 22.5% making Islam the fastest growing religion in the entire world, exceeding even the growth rate of Christianity. The American Muslim Council has estimated that there are 2,000 mosques and Islamic community centers in the United States. More than 80% percent have been built in the past 12 years. Is it possible then that Islam, such an attractive and fast growing religion, can be completely flawed? Yes, the religion of Islam is filled with historical, scientific, and most importantly spiritual flaws. Answering this question is important because people are becoming more and more blind to the truth of the Christian religion by the rapid growth of Islam. Outlining the flaws of Islam also helps to bring out the accuracy of the Christian religion. How is it possible that Islam, the fastest growing religion, is so full of errors? Islam is growing so rapidly because many of its followers are unaware of the extent of its corruption, and many of its followers are equally unaware of how many errors can be found throughout the Quran. One way to show people the flaws in Islam is by slowly picking it apart and in so doing, the person is able to more clearly see the errors and parts of the Quran that do not match up with facts of history and ... Having good diet and exercise habits are an important part of living a healthy life. Just because someone may look fit and healthy, does not mean they are healthy. In fact, they could be just as unhealthy as an obsess person. This is also the same for someone who may not look like they are healthy. Even if they are overweight, they can still have a clean diet and a healthy heart. The only true way to determine if someone is living a healthy life and eating properly along with getting the right amount of exercise is by taking a closer look at their activity level and diet. The foundation to staying healthy is having a good meal plan. There are many different factors to consider when customizing a meal plan for someone. Their age, existing health issues, and the amount of activity are some of the main factors. Or, a girl s parents have planned an arranged marriage for their daughter but she does not accept the suitor. In both cases, the family feels disrespected by the girl and so she has to be killed. This is also known as an honor killing . Every year, thousands of honor killings affect mostly women and some men. When individuals disrespect their family, the family can restore their honor by murdering the victim. Honor killings are on the rise with increasing statistics every year. This increase can be influenced by people s inability to stop/prevent honor killings because they do not believe honor killings are immoral. However, this paper will discuss why honor killings do not have a moral basis, nor are justified. Islam does not condone these murders, so religion is not related with honor killings. These attacks are largely targeted towards women, and societal attitudes towards women are increasingly backwards (Minhas 1). Worst of all, there are many cases that are underreported, little media coverage and inadequate legal support for victims. The Narrative Structure And Emotional Perspective How It Feels to Be Colored Me is a narrative essay by Zora Neale Hurston that recounts her experience of having her identity being drastically shifted from her personal self to a nameless colored girl living in a predominantly white society. Hurston uses descriptive language, metaphors, and symbols to help the reader empathize with her experience rather than simply understand it at a factual level. The narrative structure and emotional perspective style Hurston uses makes the events easy to follow. The following is an in depth analysis of the literary elements Hurston uses in this piece. The opening paragraph is straightforward and establishes that she sees herself as an ordinary colored person with no real distinguishing traits. It is written in the present tense, suggesting that this is the author s current self image. The next three paragraphs describe the culture of the town she grew up in as a child. It opens with an odd statement: I remember the very day that I became colored. This is meant to be taken figuratively, as in the day her race became a part of her identity, because people generally don t spontaneously change color. She recounts that day later in the essay. However, it is the author s job to immerse their readers into the storyline as they grasp an understanding of the overall mood and feeling of the story. Some may argue that patterns within a work may be merely coincidental, but in Ann Beattie s Weekend, the repeated mentioning of weather patterns and the fireplace are used in order to portray a certain mood throughout the story. These patterns allow the reader to deeply connect with the character s emotions and understand the ambiance without the narrator directly stating how the character is feeling. In Weekend, Ann Beattie s intentional use of outside forces such as the rain, the temperature, and the presence of fire allows the reader to develop a deeper understanding concerning the ongoing tensions and emotions in the atmosphere throughout the entire story. Sophocles drama Antigone, written around 441 BCE, is one of his three Theban plays that chronicle the dark fortunes of the house of Oedipus, king of Thebes. After Oedipus death, there is a struggle over the kingship between his two sons Eteocles and Polyneices. The army of Polyneices marches on Thebes and is defeated, but both brothers are killed in the battle. The new ruler, Creon, decrees that whereas Eteocles will be buried with full honours for defending the city, the rebel Polyneices must be denied holy rites and left to rot in the field and if anyone disobeys him they are to be punished by death. The state and patriarchy take high place within the novel as it does in many Grecian teaching places. The play was used to teach the subjects of the citadel about respect for the law and respect for society. We must therefore ask questions concerning the place of a feminine tragic hero, and the effect that it would have had. Antigone as a rebellious character raises ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Character Of Romeo Montague in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet Romeo is one of the main characters in Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet and is portrayed as a tragic figure, who is guided by his destiny. Shakespeare initially introduces Romeo to be a romantic sentimentalist, who is over obsessed with his own emotions. Romeo, however, loses these personality traits towards the end of the play, and becomes more mature after falling deeply in love with Juliet. His love for her is strong and over whelming, and Shakespeare vividly represents this by dramatic visual moments throughout the play, culminating in the tragic climax of Romeo s suicide, to join with his Juliet in death. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is one of the many themes that Shakespeare provides to suggest foreboding early on in the play. The omen is ambiguous as it firstly implies Romeo is worrying about something that will not happen and is generally nervous about arriving uninvited. However, it could imply that in going to the Ball, he will meet Juliet, which will cause drastic events to happen, and eventually lead to both their deaths. This is one of the main themes during the play and is successfully entwined in Romeo s script to introduce foreboding to the audience without the character realising it. He disregards the omen, and continues with his friends to the Ball. On arrival, he seeks Rosaline, but his attentions rapidly divert to Juliet Capulet, She seems to hang upon the cheek of night displays Romeo s persona to be fickle and to have a fluctuating nature. He had before thought Rosaline to be beautiful, but now he sees Juliet as the most beautiful woman in the world. It begins the moment men feel that religion is irrelevant to the common way of life and that society as such has nothing to do with the truths of faith. (Dawson Russello, 1998) Contemporary society has exposed Australians of all ages to secularism making it vital that citizens adapt and strengthen a personal and global conscience to keep fundamental religious values, morals and ethics relevant. Humanity will prosper once there is a realization of the importance of a spiritual future. Three poems have special ideas about marriage, they are: Marriage by William Carlos Williams, Marriea Love by Kuan Tao Sheng, and an untitled one by Apache Song. All three of them have a central idea of marriage; two people are one individual after marriage, one cannot separate from the other one. These poems are short but they carry deep morals about marriage. They have a common characteristics where they all visualize the bonding between the couple into things we feel comfortable about. There are three main aspects of poems content, structure, and tone I would discuss about how the authors uses similar writing styles to bring out the common idea behind. All contents of the three poems are very visual. In Marriage, Williams describes men and women as streams and fields and in Marriea Love, Kuan describes them as clays. • 48. Sexism in Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers Essay In Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers, Minnie Foster is accused of killing her husband. This accusation forces Mrs. Peters to choose between the law and her inner feelings. Her husband is the sheriff of Dickenson County, Iowa. It has always been a small, quiet town where nothing really happens. Mrs. Peters is faced with an internal struggle. On one side, she is married to the law and on the other side she understands what Minnie has been through. Her husband used to mentally abuse her to the point where she is now basically secluded from everyone and everything in the world. Mr. Hale even makes the comment, Though I said at the same time that I didn t know as what his wife wanted made much difference to John (260). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The worst part of it all is that she had a little pet bird that she treated like her own child and John Wright has killed by wringing its neck. She has nothing to love or care for and definitely has no one to love and care for her in the way she so desperately needs. When John Wright kills her only friend that brings her happiness, her little bird, she has to kill him. Minnie always had friends and loved life until this man kept her away from it. Minnie has every right in the world to kill her husband. Glaspell also gives the impression that all men are jerks. For example, the men constantly make fun of the women and put them down for everything they do or do not do. In the beginning of the story the men complained of dirty towels when Minnie is in jail and has not even been home to clean up (264). Even though many men may be like that, not all men are. These types of men are the ones who give the rest of the gender a bad name. Glaspell was not at fault by making some men look bad, but she could have put at least one man in the story who was kind and understanding. In the story, she makes every man look like a jerk. By doing that, Glaspell basically says that is how all men are and that they cannot and will not be sensitive or be able to understand women in any way, shape or form. She is wrong. She does not give men enough credit. There are plenty of men who are sensitive and Glaspell refuses to show that side of the male gender. Mrs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Public Health Vs. Federal Law PUBLIC HEALTH GOVERNENCE (STATE Vs. FEDERAL) For a long time, mandatory immunizations on populations have been debatable with respect to public health law in the United States. One argued topic is whether the level of authority to administer such mandates resides at the federal or state or state level. An analysis of the United States Constitution provides some clarity. The role of the Federal Government is somewhat limited with regards to public health, and its role marks a clear distinction from state and local authority over health matters. The Commerce Clause, within Article I of the United States Constitution, gives federal jurisdiction over certain public health issues. It states that Congress shall have the power to regulate commerce with foreign nationals, and among the several states. (CITE CONSTITUTION). This limited authority allows federal agencies to introduce and administer regulations to prevent the spread of communicable diseases from foreign countries and between the states, as in quarantine. However, no mandatory vaccination programs or regulations regarding the implementation of a mandatory vaccination program exist at this level. (CITE SWENDIMAN p.7). The 10th Amendment of the United States Constitution provides the authority by which states draft and implement public health policy and effort. It states, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I chose to attend this presentation because the field of biogeography seemed interesting as well as the history of biogeography. Although many know that Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, Alfred Russel Wallace helped Darwin propose the theory of evolution. According to Dr. Parenti, Wallace also believed that biology predicts geology. In addition, Dr. Parenti believes that on the date Wallace wrote a letter about a remarkable observation he made, the field of modern biogeography began. Wallace observed two distinct faunas the Indo Malayan Biotic Area and the Australian Biotic Area that were separated by a demarcation that was later named Wallace s Line. ... In terrain classification, groups of endemic species are predicted by using maps. Besides using mapping to interpret areas of endemic species, biogeologist use the comparative method. The comparative method compares animals found in certain biotas. She further explains that there are two mechanisms that explain endemic distributions: dispersal and vicariance. Dr. Parenti adds that she is very much in favor for vicariance. She explains that dispersion explains the movement within an endemic area, but there are no generation ...
