The Necessity of Personal Responsibility Essay
Personal responsibility may be perceived in many ways, but it is imperative to understand the
relevance of why it must begin with our self. First, one will never develop an attitude of
responsibility if they always look for others to complete their task. It is a necessity that one has
personal discipline or their efforts to be responsible will prove to be fruitless. Second, being
responsible yields great rewards and acting responsible is a clear sign of maturity. A responsible
individual looks to no one but self and no matter what the outcome; they are willing to stand by
their decisions. (Maltby 2009), Personal responsibilityis concerned with people taking individual
accountability for their decisions and actions, together with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Personal responsibility may yield many rewards. For example, Mary s entry level position at
Trump Towers was administrative assistant. During a period of one year, Mary validated her worth
by working overtime and always volunteering to help with other projects. As Mary continued to
flourish in completing her assignments, she was elevated from administrative assistant to executive
director of the accounting department. There are many levels of maturity, but maturity is a process
that students develop over a period of time. Consequently, the student that matures quickly is likely
to initiate an educational plan that will increase their academic success. One preliminary plan that a
student can design to achieve academic success is goal setting. Goal setting allows the student to
define their academic goals and to devise a plan that will accommodate their collegiate career. One
way to make goals effective is to examine them up close. (Ellis, p. 70,2011) Prior to this point we
established several factors to confirm the necessity of personal responsibility, but here we will
interject effective strategies that a student must use to generate success in their chosen field of
study. Research and observation reveals that the most successful students are accountable, but also
have a strong determination to apply practical concepts to achieve their academic goals. The
successful student operates in congruence between faculty and

Mating Habits of Bonobos and Honey Bees Essay
Every species has their unique way to survive and interact with their environment. Some have extra
appendages in order to better combat predators, or they have bodies that allow them to camouflage
to their environment. Every species also has their way of reproducing and copulation, whether for
necessity or for enjoyment. Two species with different mating habits are the Apis mellifera, better
known as honey bees, and Pan paniscus, Bonobos apes. The former uses its reproductionmethods
for the survival of the entire colony of honey bees in exchange with the death of few and the
former uses copulation in a social setting in order to keep the peace of the pack.

1990). They are not needed for the winter months because they do not possess a stinger and are
therefore no use to the worker bees after copulation with the queen.
When it comes time for a new queen to emerge and take the place of the old queen, the previous
queen starts to lay eggs in queen cups. This usually happens around the time when swarming, or
the reproduction of these bees, is in favorable condition. These cups eventually become specially
constructed queen cells relatively similar to the shape of a peanut. Workers will only complete
the queen cell once the queen lays an egg in it. The queen larva develops differently from the other
worker bees because it is fed royal jelly very heavily compared to the other larvae in the hive, which
are only fed the royal jelly for two days after they are born. This difference in their diet allows the
queen larva to develop into a sexually mature female. The royal jelly is made from digested
pollen or nectar and mixed with a chemical that is produced from a gland on the head of a nursing
bee (Haydak, M. 1970).
The queen that emerges is called a virgin queen because she has not mated with any of the drones.
In order to become the actual queen of the hive, the virgin queen must find other queen rivals and
kill them. She may also use

Research Paper On Scarface
Scarface
You wanna f**k with me? Okay. You wanna play rough? Okay. Say hello to my little friend!
(Palma, Bregman, Stone Scarface)
Bellows the infamous drug lord over the sound of his past finally catching up with him. All of
Tony Montana s (Al Pacino) self established business is being tested by the enemies he s making
along his path of crime in Scarface, 1983 . Brian De Palma certainly knows how to make an
audience initially love, which gradually turns into hate, the protagonist of the film. Martin
Bregman, came to Palma with the concept of remaking the 1932 Scarface with the a modern twist,
as crime has evolved a lot in the 50 year this film laid dormant. Bregman wanted the film to focus
on the modern day crime bosses, rather than remake an outdated mindset, which can be seen with
scarface s military technology. This then evolved into the drug filled miami setting, due to
production costs.
Scarface, Tony Montana, starts the movie as a political prisoner in Miami Florida, with
aspirations to rise up to the top by any means necessary. Tony and his friend, Manny Ribera
(Steven Bauer), are able to get work at a small food stand as dishwashers. This brings them to
meeting the local colombian mafia, which in turn drags them into the filth that is organized crime.
Tony starts off working for Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia), but quickly develops a desire to have all
that he has, including his mistress, Elvira Hancock (Michelle Pfeiffer). Once on top, Tony grows
impatient of waiting for things to come naturally and produces heinous actions that make him a
target by virtually everyone.
The movie takes place in the 1980s during Cuban Crimewave in Miami Florida. Tony Montana is
presented as a killer from Cuba, who gained access to freedom by being released into America by
Castro. Which essentially gave him the potential for a fresh start, the ability to choose his future.
Landing a job as a dishwasher across the street from a popular night club inspires Tony to get
back into the life of crime. After a drug deal gone wrong, and friend dying by chainsaw, Tony
decides it s time to meet the head honcho of the organization he is working for.
Soon after meeting Frank Lopez, Tony quickly decides he wants to have all

Iphone Vulnerabilities
The Apple Inc. iPhone mobile devices have been a successful phone in the technology era. There
are common vulnerabilities that have the ability to compromise a mobile device. The
vulnerabilities are able to give attacks a leverage in obtaining sensitive information or secured data.
The first common vulnerability is jail breaking which allows third party applications without an
official SDK from Apple to run on the iPhone. A fix to this vulnerability would be to not download
any applications to jailbreak the mobile device or any untrusted mobile applications. Another
vulnerability to the Apple iPhone is the Airdrop figure, which allows a user to unintentionally
download malicious malware when intended to share files with contacts. Solving this vulnerability
includes disabling the Airdrop or only allowing Airdrop to contacts. An additional vulnerability is
public Wi Fi information stealing that uses a public network to gain information on your mobile
device. The vulnerability fix would be to avoid unencrypted public wireless networks.... Show more

the medieval castle Essay
the medieval castle
What is a castle?
A castle is a properly fortified military residence.
Why were castles built?
Initially, they were designed and built to hold down conquered territory. They also served to
intimidate and strike fear into the local peoples, were places of refuge, and places for the lords to
live. They were also impressive symbols of the power and wealth of their owners.
How castles came to exist in Europe?
Castles were brought to England by William the Conqueror, when he invaded England from his
homeland in France. Known as the Duke of Normandy, William invaded England in 1066 and, due
to his victory in the Battle of Hastings, William was crowned the King of ... Show more content on

Many of the people who lived in Britain before it was conquered did not like being controlled by
the king s barons, and wanted to keep control of their own lands themselves. But that was not
possible, because William and later kings (and queens) demanded they pay homage. Therefore,
castles were built to establish the power of the king and his followers, and to keep the people from
regaining control of their own lands. These first knights and barons, followers of William the
Conqueror, were known as the
Normans, and were a very powerful lot. They built castles almost everywhere in Britain, hundreds
of which still survive. Stone castles were built for stability and to symbolize the power of the
lords of the kingdom. Even if the king did not order a particular castle to be built for his use, he still
retained the ability to seize any of his lords castles if they displeased him or if the king had a
special reason to want to use it.
What features made stone castles stable and able to withstand battle?
* The walls were very thick, anywhere between 8 and 20 feet in thickness, so they could withstand
bombings or battering from a battering ram, or another seige machine like a catapult.
* Originally, towers were simple square shapes, easy to build but also easy to topple down. One
of the smartest ways that a tower was pulled down was a method known as undermining. An
enemy s soldiers would dig a tunnel under one corner of a tower, prop it up with wood, and

Bo Jackson Accomplishments
The famous athlete Bo Jackson is most well known for his share of talents in the MLB and NFL.
Many recognize him due to his more than unique athletic abilities. During his early childhood and
throughout his life, Bo had jaw dropping strength that no one could compare to. He could do
backflips in thigh high water, and could dunk a stick through a basketballhoop like Michael Jordan.
Bo Jackson is no stranger when it comes to strength abilities. Throughout his life he was praised
for having prodigious talents that almost seemed unreal. As a child he would throw crabapples at
screen doors with such a force that they would break through. He could dunk a stick through a

was tackled by Brian Bosworth during an NFL football game that changed his life for ever. His
hip was dislocated and unknowingly broke a major artery that is responsible for the cartilage
growth in your hip. Even though he was discouraged, he received a hip replacement and eventually
returned to Pro baseball. Bo endured a lot during this injury and persevered through it by
returning to the MLB to play with the White Sox. Bo Jackson is often considered to be one of the
greatest athletes of all time. An epic hero isn t cocky or boastful. Bo never once saw his talents as
advantages rather than gifts. He broke tons of records, and made a name for himself but never
bragged. He broke records in highschool and had colleges drool over him. He excelled in pro sports
as well. Even though he was widely recognized for being extraordinary he was never put into the
hall of fame. Bo Jackson is widely known for his physical and mental strength as well as his ability
to be humble. He is a man of great bravery and will always be remembered for

Mind and Hamlet
An admirable text does not define or exhaust its possibilities . What possibilities do you see in
Shakespeare s Hamlet? Discuss your ideas with close reference to at least two scenes from Hamlet.
Shakespeare s texts have been re visited, re interpreted and re invented to suit the context and
preferences of an evolving audience, and it through this constant recreation it is evident that Hamlet
does not define or exhaust its possibilities . Through the creation of a character who emulates a
variety of different themes, such as revenge, realisation of reality and the questioning of humanity,
we can see the different possibilities within Hamlet as an admirable text with enduring human
value. Furthermore, the emotional journey of Hamlet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A more definitive reading of Hamlet disputes the claim that he was mad, and instead suggests that
Hamlet feigns madness in order to become closer to the truth. This reading is an example of
Shakespeare demonstrating the changing context in Denmark through the projection of the
protagonist as an extended metaphor for the emerging Renaissance Humanism period. This period
was defined by choice and analysis of events, and is emulated through Hamlet s alliterated
statement in his soliloquy in Scene 3, Act 1, conscience makes cowards of us all. Hamlet believes
he is in a psychological state of cowardice, and that his conscience is holding him back through his
assessment of the consequences of acting on the orders of the ghost. L.C. Knight believes Hamlet
is the exploration and implicit criticism of a particular state of mind or consciousness . This
questioning on the theme of humanity and the final stage in Hamlet s complex thought process is
finally resolved in the soliloquy in Scene 4, Act 3. Hamlet s characterisation, once that of a pure
man whose mind was riddled with angst at the idea of murder shifts to a mind of bloody thoughts
as a result of his bound duty. This personified imagery is a reflection of Hamlet s now tainted mind
since the murder of Polonius, and the constant obsession with Claudius murder. Hamlet accuses
himself of thinking too precisely , and

The Importance Of Homeostasis And A State Of Equilibrium...
All living things strive towards one goal: homeostasis. Homeostasis is a state of equilibrium
reached through physiological processes. In order to maintain homeostasis, living things use cells,
tissues, organs, and organ systems to counteract physical changes. Using a variety of different
tissues, organs are formed to accomplish specific tasks. The four main types of tissuesare epithelial
tissue, connective tissue, muscular tissue, and nervous tissue. Several sublevels exist for each
type of tissue. Epithelial tissue covers body surfaces and lines body cavities. The three main
kinds of Epithelial tissue are squamous which is composed of flat cells, cuboidal, which is
composed of cube shaped cells, and columnar which is composed of stretched, pillar like cells.
Each type of epithelial tissue can be either simple or stratified. Simple is one layer of cells, while
stratified has more than one layer. Each type can also be glandular. Glands can be either one
epithelial cell or multiple cells. Its purpose is to secrete products into different parts of the body or
outside of the body. Exocrine glands secrete their products into ducts or directly into a tube/cavity.
Endocrine glands secrete their products directly into the bloodstream. Examples of epithelial tissue
are the linings of lungs, kidneys, small intestine, and the nose. A common trait that all epithelial
tissue have is that they are attached to the basement membrane, a thin layer of proteins that anchors
to connective

Animal Farm Submissions
Marguerite Young, an American poet, novelist, biographer and critic, once said, If you
understand hallucination and illusion, you don t blindly follow any leader. You must know if the
person is sane or insane, over the abyss (Young 1). However, in the novel Animal Farm written
by George Orwell, many of the farm animals blindly followed a leader regardless of what that
leader did or said. These submissions lead to a lack of reasoning and thought behind the animal s
actions. Orwell uses allusions, violence, and comparisons to delineate the theme that following
leadership blindly will ultimately cause a society to fail. In Animal Farm, each character represents
a character, group, or idea from history. Some animals are more relevant than... Show more content

By being submissive to Napoleon, many animals were hurt and killed in battles. One of the
worst battles fought was with the neighboring farmers, A cow, three sheep, and two geese were
killed, and nearly everyone was wounded (Orwell 108). This battle was led by Napoleon and his
close comrades. If the animals had thought of the potential consequences and not fought in the
battle, many lives could have been saved. The death of Boxer is also an example of how
negligence and blind leadership can cause harm to others. After being told that Boxer would be
taken to a safe place by Napoleon, he was taken to a slaughter house, They are taking Boxer to
the knacker s! (Orwell 123). If the animals had taken matters into their own hands, Boxer would
have been protected. He would have not lost his life simply because Napoleon told a lie. Finally,
Orwell writes how Boxer murdered a human because he told that it was the right thing to have a
rebellion. Along with other animals, Boxer fought for the farm, He is dead, said Boxer
sorrowfully. I had no intention of doing that (Orwell 58). Without this blind leadership to Snowball
and the other animals on the farm, Boxer would not have harmed the boy. These deaths had a hand
in creating fear and panic within the farm, resulting in a failed

In explaining and predicting animal behaviour, different schools of psychology are of different
perspectives; e.g. cognitive approach focuses on the mental processes, behaviourism is based on

Palladino, 1995).
Freud argued that most of our behaviour is motivated by our unconscious, but how could we
know the existence of it. Freud suggested that there are several ways to access the unconscious
level. The first one is free association, patients are encouraged to give free rein to their thoughts
and feelings, expressing whatever comes into the mind without monitoring its content, it assumed
that repressed material would be emerged ultimately. The second one is by dream analysis, he
opined that unconscious wishes are often manifested in dreams, sometimes in their true forms,
sometimes in symbolic form (Website : Webref), e.g. children s wish of candies or toys would be
reflected in the content of their dreams. The last one is named as Freudian slip; he argued that an
accidental action would be expressed as the unconscious motivations (Miell, Phoenix Thomas,
2002), e.g. A man who said Peter is a bad (black) guy!
But what materials would be repressed to the part of unconscious? Freud considered that part of
our unconscious motivations was come from biological drivers, one of these drivers is sexuality or
libido in Freud s terms. It refers any forms of body stimulation that

One of the biggest events in history is when the colonists decided to declare their independence and
break away from Great Britain. Was it necessary though? Yes, it was necessary for America to
declare independence from England as they had begun to outgrow their relationship for many years.
The three main reasons that contributed to the American Revolutionwere as follows. The first
reason was that the colonists were being taxed unfairly, the second reason was that colonists had
no representation in the English Parliament and the third reason was that the governing mother
country was an ocean away from the colonies. The colonies were first taken over by the British in

Physical Therapy History
The History of Physical Therapy

In recent decades, physical therapy has become somewhat of a hot commodity in America.
According the United States Department of Labor and Bureau of Labor Statistics (2014), the
number of physical therapy jobs is expected to jump an astonishing 36% by 2022, equating to
almost 280,000 licensed, practicing physical therapists. Physical therapy seems to have joined the
ranks of doctor, teacher, and astronaut in the list of typical career aspirations. However, many of
those aspiring students do not have a full understanding of what all physical therapy entails,

Foucault Sex And Power Essay
Foucault states, We must at the same time conceive of sex without the law and power without the
king (81). Foucault argues that sex and power must not be viewed as something that is only
controlled by the law but rather as multidimensional with various forms that do not manifest
themselves solely in coercion. Foucault s suggests that power is unacquired, not external but within
internal structures, non binary, intentional and non subjective, and exists simultaneously with
resistance. First, Foucault suggests that power is not a thing that an individual can or cannot have
but can be exercised from various angles in any relation. Foucault states, Power is not something
that is acquired, seized, or shared, something that one holds on to or allows to slip away (94)....

Similarly, like power, nature is not one thing we can point to or acquire. Individuals can point to
mountains and lakes but must recognize that nature itself is more abstract. As like power, nature
suggests a compelling relationship between individuals and the earth which indicates how it
constantly changes.Secondly, Foucault suggests that power is not external to the relationships it
works upon, but determines their internal structure, insinuating that power operates within
institutions. Foucault states, Relations of power are not in a position of exteriority with respect to
other types of relationship (economic, knowledge relationships, sexual relations), but are immanent
in the latter (94). In other words, power should be evaluated within and in relation to economics,
sexuality, knowledge relationships, etc. Power should be identified within these structures because
the relationships and connections that are formed within these structures determine and produce
what power looks and feels like. Furthermore, nature is not something that solely exists externally
but as something that works within itself. As like power, nature should be thought of as a changing

Literature Review On Media Violence
PSY 4111 Literature Review. E. Langslow
Trends across research suggest exposure to media violence positively correlates with subsequent
violent behaviour
In this era of internet connectivity, access to an array of violent media stimuli is readily available.
Scientific exploration of the effects of such exposure on real world violent behaviour carries
potential ramifications for the safety of global communities. Media violence is understood here as
stimuli that includes depictions of violence or calls to violent action and includes image, video,
television and gaming. Violent behavior is defined as behavior causing emotional or physical harm

The Bobo doll study found that children were more likely to imitate violent behaviour they
witnessed in a film if they perceived the behaviour would generate positive outcomes (Bandura,
Ross, Ross, 1963). Later findings across three decades of cognitive research on the effects of
learning and priming concluded thoughts are connected by similar association, with media stimuli
cognitively relating to memories and responses to trigger violent schemata retrieval in real world
situations (Berkowitz, 1984; Bushman Geen, 1990; L Rowell Huesmann Eron, 2013). Findings in
two general aggression model (GAM) studies that complement cognitive frameworks, both
monitored increases in physical arousal as potential determinants for short term violent behavior.
Again, positive correlations were found following exposure to media violence.(Bushman Anderson,
2001; Thomas, Horton, Lippincott, Drabman, 1977). Environmental factors
A range of studies assert that causes of violent behavior are complex at the level of environmental
influence and compare other learning, modelling and disinhibiting factors. This is an area where
opposition to the hypothesis is more common. Two longitudinal studies assessing levels of violence
pre and post the introduction of television found a positive correlation, however

Common Misconceptions About Video Games
Shigeru Miyamoto, a legendary video game developer, expressed his thoughts on video games,
Video games are bad for you? That s what they said about rock n roll. There have been common
misconceptions about video games being a bad influence on children due to their violent content
they can have and leading children to be more violent. Miyamoto disagree with this
misconception using rock n roll as an example. He stated just like how rock n roll was considered
bad in the past generation.therefore the current generation of children and adults will not be
affected by video games in a detrimental way. There have been many case studies disapproving

However, these misconceptions are debunked by news sources such as PBS. Henry Jenkins, an
MIT Professor, wrote a list of reasons on video games myths on the PBS website. He believes the
link between youth violence and video games are merely a coincidence, because in the modern
age, more and more of today s youth are connected to social media and technology, and it really
depends on the person s mental stability. There has been research on how the more aggressive
people enjoy playing more aggressive games like the aforementioned game, Doom, and that there
are no conclusions that link video games to change normal people to killers. Incidentally, these
misconceptions of youth violences linked to video games are still commonly believed today by
a small group of people around the word despite the growing popularity of video games in
modern day culture. All things considered, video games can be used as an educational tool in

Warren s Theory Of A Fetus Essay
According to Warren, a fetus is not considered a person. She argues that there are two senses of
human: the biological sense and the moral sense. She states that a fetus is not a human in the
moral sense of things. She argues that a fetus, whatever stage of its development, satisfies none of
the basic criteria of personhood, and is not enough like a person to be granted even some of the
same rights on the basis of this resemblance. Warren states that a fetuss potential personhood is not
a threat to the moralityof abortionsince the rights of potential people are invariably overridden in
any conflict with the moral rights of actual people. She argues that in order for a person to be a

Warren has the reader think of a space explorer falling into the hands of an alien culture scientist
who is trying to replicate hundreds of humans by breaking the body of the space explorer and
using his genetic code. If executed correctly, the newly created society would have the potential
to have all of the skills, knowledge, and abilities of the original space explorer classifying them
as a person. These newly created men would be potential persons. However, the space explorer
has the choice to escape taking the potential of these people away as the explorer has his own
right to life that outweighs the right of the potential lives since they are only potential and not
persons, leaving them no right. The space explorer obtains no moral obligation to sacrifice his
life, or stay in captivity for even a day, for the creating of any number of potential people. Warren
wants one to understand that the right to life of one person outweighs the right to life of any
number of potential people. Although a fetus is a potential person, Warren still holds that abortion
is acceptable in all situations. As we saw through Warren s space explorer example, the rights of
the women will always outweigh the right of the fetus because the women is a person and a fetus
is only a potential person. Because the fetus is a potential person, it has no right to life and not

Zeitoun Fight or Flight
Is it worth risking your life to protect your belongings and property when a Category 5 hurricane
is barreling towards your city? Is it right to disregard reports about a storm because in past
experiences the news has been wrong? In Zeitoun by Dave Eggers, a man named Zeitoun decides
to let his family evacuate New Orleans without him so that he can stay behind and protect his
several homes, business, and personal belongings from Category 5 hurricane Katrina. Once the
hurricane passes, and he survives, the city turns into chaos. The streets turn violent and the great
city turns into a third world country. The power goes out for weeks, and there is no water. The
breakdown of all authority gets him arrested and he is soon thrown behind bars. Zeitoun should
have evacuated New Orleans with his family for not only did he put his business in front of them,
but also his shortsightedness almost left his children without a father. Zeitoun s belongings and
business items are all replaceable, but a father is not.
Zeitoun s stubbornness blinds him from the true power of the storm for he constantly dismisses
reports on how strong Hurricane Katrina is. A couple of days before the hurricane his wife
decides it is time to leave. She tells him of her plans and he immediately turns her down. As his
wife continues to bring up the idea of evacuating he reminds himself of past hurricane threats, there
seemed to be a half dozen storms every August, and they were rarely worth the trouble. This

Tracking Pba Schedule
INTRODUCTORY SUMMARY
In the past two years, our company has consistently missed the release dates for our PBA
(printed board assembly) products. These missed releases have resulted in fines to the company,
and extreme customer dissatisfaction. We have had to reduce our workforce considerably over
the past year, and in the process, we have lost experienced employee talent. Middle management
has accepted the challenge to develop a PBA Design to Release Spreadsheet. This spreadsheet
process will assist our Research and Development organization in achieving the company s goal to
honor its contractual obligations to customers. Since budget cuts are in place, the spreadsheet will
be developed based on existing resources and work force. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Once each group has agreed upon their responsibilities, the Team Lead will present the list to the
Core Team. In the past, when this kind of information has been collected, the biggest concern
expressed from all of the groups is the limited amount of time they have to complete their job
efficiently. Their main concern is limited personnel and resources. This spreadsheet tracking
process will present a work culture challenge in the way our teams approach their tasks.
CORE TEAM REVIEWS EACH GROUP S DEFINITION OF DUTIES
After each group has completed their list of tasks and timelines, the Core Team reviews the
combined results. The Core Team s goal is to evaluate the lists, and incorporate them into the final
spreadsheet. The spreadsheet will define the fundamental duties and timelines to complete for each
group. The ultimate goal is to get the product to the customer within eight months.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The logical approach is to start to perform the design work in parallel across groups, when
practical. This practice of concurrent engineering is commonly used by understaffed, schedule
driven companies. Using this method, each group can be working on their portion of the design,
without having to wait for the previous group to complete their portion. When the schedule of the
PBA release has been established, an excel spreadsheet is generated with each participant s
responsibilities and timelines.

Changing Lives with the Fifth Agrement by Don Miguel Ruiz
The Fifth Agreement
Published in 2011, The Fifth Agreement is a sequel to The Fourth Agreement, and offers another
powerful agreement for changing lives. The authors Don Miguel Ruiz and his son Don Jose Ruiz
inspire the readers to see the truth and to alter the message they communicate to themselves and the
people around them. According to them, the fifth agreement is the pathway to complete inner peace
and self satisfaction. Whereas the first four agreements are about breaking free from thousands of
agreements that create unnecessary suffering, the fifth agreement helps regain the power of
authenticity, which is the true character that we are born with. These agreements are 1) be
impeccable with your words, 2) don t take anything personally, 3) don t make assumptions, 4)
always do your best, and 5) be skeptical, but learn to listen.
The authors include stories from the Bible, and make reference to heaven and hell to demonstrate
their point. At the beginning of the novel, they talk about the relationship between God and men. In
the story, God and Adam are walking around together, when God asks him how he would like to
name everything (Ruiz and Ruiz 20). It is in this conversation between God and Adam that the
authors explain the meaning of objective and subjective perceptions. God tells Adam that our
objective perception is the truth, and it is called science; our interpretation of the truth is subjective,
and we call it art (Ruiz and Ruiz 21). Men are born with a sense

Essay about Rap and Moral Character
Rap and Moral Character In the article Rap and Moral Character by Wesley Cragg and Christine
Koggel, the subject of concern is the consequences of listening to rap music and the effects on
moral behaviour. The author suggests that rap and moral character are linked and that due to the
natural context of rap, it promotes violence, crass materialism, crime, and is misogynistic and
therefore corrupts a person s moral character. Based on their claims, the authors take the position
that rap should be censured morally. In this paper, I will examine the authors claims, their
reasoning, and their use of concepts. By doing so, I will be able to demonstrate that their thesis

This claim may seem to be fine if it stood by itself. However, in this context, the author is saying
that everyone who listens to rap is bad, corrupt, and engages in criminal activities. In other words,
the authors are saying that they are bad. This claim is loaded and assumes that everyone who
listens to this type of music is bad because through the whole article, they talk about how rap
disrupts moral character and how it leads to bad things. This can also be classified as a hasty
generalization. This is a hasty generalization because the authors generalize beyond the limits of the
population (implying that everyone who listens to rap is a certain type of person).
The authors make another fallacious claim right after the hasty generalization claim. The claim

November 14, 2016
Dr. Leslie Wills
Abstract
A few years ago, there was much discussion relating to the National Collegiate Athletic Association
(NCAA) and those units responsible for instituting student athlete and athletic department policy.
This purpose of this paper is to discuss the ethical misconduct that occurred at Penn State, Ohio
State and the University of Arkansas, and how the NCAA played a role in the wrongdoing.
Coaches, players, and administrators face mounting pressures brought on by the need to sell seats
and win games. In response, this type of pressure creates opportunities for offenses to take place.
The first component of the paper will be to determine the fundamental ways in which the ethics
programs of the NCAA failed to prevent the scandals at Penn State, Ohio State, and the University
of Arkansas. Once those measures are identified and discussed, the ways the NCAA leadership
contributed to the ethical violations of these schools will be discussed. The next element of the
paper will predict the key differences in the scandals that occurred at each school if an effective
ethics program was implemented. Next, the paper will suggest actions that the NCAA leadership
should take to regain the trust and confidence of the students and stakeholders. The last section will
identify measures that HR departments of

My Cultural Identity
After countless tries by my ancestors to establish a life in the United States it seemed destiny
had a place for me. Come to think of it, may it wasn t destiny calling my family to cross the
border, rather our native land was calling us home. Still how colonized have I become to accept
my new identity. In the novel, Cruz comments that Esperanza changed her son s name from
Robert to Bobby. (Loc. 215) Call him Bobby. In America, he s Bobby, Esperanza said (Cruz). My
parents didn t assimilate that quickly. My full name is Socorro Martinez, and I m the youngest of
eight children. My father came to this country during the Bracer Act Program, after it was
terminated in 1964 he worked in construction. My mother followed six years later with three
children, after losing her daughter to an illness. I was named after my mother but was given the
nick name Suki. Growing up no one called by my first name. I built an identitybased on my nick
name, and slowly my cultural identitywas diminishing.
I found it coincidental that like my family I too embarked in a journey and sacrificed for my
children. My husband, children and I moved Washington State two years ago. Just like Santo left
the Dominican Republic and Esperanza left Puerto Rico towards the United States to give their
family a better life. (Loc. 332) Although I was surrounded by a vast amount of greenery, I missed

Each of the vendors offers to provide training to our staff as part of the purchase. They also offer
to continue to train our staff as long as we have an account with them. Customer support is also a
crucial part of our decision. We need excellent customer support from the vendor. We also need
quick response to our request for customer support. Red Hat specifically states that it has 24/7
customer support. What that means is that twenty four hours and day seven days a week, Red Hat
customer support is ready to provide their services. Ubuntu states that it offers profession support to
its customers. Novell also supports the use of Macs and their operation system (OS). Some of the
advantages of selecting each vendor s product are similar and still somewhat distinct. Red Hat in
(For sap business,) states, that is a responsive customer support, higher performance standards,
collaborative engineering for better products, and designed in security. Customer support is a
very important advantage. Higher performance standards are also an important advantage.
Higher performance means we will get what we paid for or more in our return. According to

scalability in the processors and memory, ability for hot swapping of processors, and an integrated

History And History Of Feminism
Feminism. So, what is Feminism and how did it begin? By definition, Feminism is the political,

the belief that all sexes deserve to be treated as equals regardless of any physical and biological

The history. The term itself originated from, socialist, Charles Fourier, back in the 1890s. Various
historians believe that the history of the Feminist Movement had three waves. The First Wave
began in the 19th and 20th century in the United States and the United Kingdom. This first wave
had more to do with obtaining political power and abolishing the norm of treating women as

against rape victims, and victim blaming reinforces this type of mentality. According to the Rape,
Abuse, and Incest National Network statistics, only a third sexual assaults are reported to the

Victims are often terrified of the prejudice that comes with stepping forward and reporting the case.
The Feminism Movement has helped empowered a large number of women to put an end to this
ideology. Though still present in our society, the movement has brought about powerful events such

The First Crusade began 1096 and ended 1099. The first crusade was an attempt to recapture

Cystic Therapy
Gene therapy aims to replace faulty genes with properly functioning copies to cure disease. This
report will discuss gene therapy, the underlying biology of cystic fibrosis (CF), current treatments
and the use of gene therapy to cure CF. The advantages and disadvantages of gene therapy will be
analysed and a decision will be made on its effectiveness as a treatment for CF.
Gene therapy is an experimental treatment, which is used to replace mutated, improperly
functioning genes with regular DNA. There are several gene therapy methods, most of which
involve using a vector to transport the corrected gene into targeted cells. Retro viruses, adeno
viruses, adeno ascosciated viruses and liposomes are commonly used as vectors. Naked DNA
(DNA without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without a vector, mutated cells cannot be targeted, which means the treatment would be
ineffective. Since the 1990 s, scientists have experimented with the use of viral vectors, such
retroviruses, adeno viruses and adeno asscociated viruses. Viruses contain a circular piece of
DNA known as the plasmid. During gene therapy, the segment of DNA responsible for viral
spread is removed. The correct copy of the mutated gene is then inserted into the virus. The virus
is then inhaled, swallowed or injected depending on the location of the target cells. (in the case of
CF, the vector is inhaled). Retroviruses are viruses that contains RNA instead of DNA.
Retroviruses can only infect dividing cells and the viral RNA needs to be reverse transcribed to
DNA, so that gene can be replicated for mitosis (this is done using enzymes). Unfortunately,
retroviruses have been found to implant genes into random parts of the genome. This means that
the introduced gene can disrupt an existing, functional gene. Between 1999 and 2006, reasearchers
performed gene therapy on 5 children with a genetic immune defficiency, using retroviruses as
vectors. By 2006, all 5 of these children had developed leukemia as a result of the vector
implanting into a random part of the genome. Adenoviruses have also been used as vectors,
however, they do not integrate into the genome permaneatly and are likely to trigger an immune
response. In 1999,

Sex Tourism And The Dominican Republic Essay
Sex tourism in the Dominican Republic is very common. It is defined as an organize vacation with
the purpose to have sexual activities with foreign people because of the lack of restriction in the
country. It sounds pretty likely as prostitution, but the difference is that sex tourism is only for
tourists and prostitutionis for everyone. Many women in the Dominican Republic define
themselves as sex workers , who get together with a representative to organize their sexual
activities with their clients. However, those women do not identify themselves as prostitutes.
Nowadays, not only women are involved in sex tourism, but underage girls too. These girls are
being forced to have sexual activities with tourists without their consent these girls are involved

and get affected by any transitional sexual illness, like HIV. Non consensual sex tourist where

Robert Scholes on Video Texts
According to Robert Scholes, author of On Reading a Video Text, commercials aired on
television hold a dynamic power over human beings on a subconscious level. He believes that
through the use of specific tools, commercials can hold the minds of an audience captive, and can
control their abilities to think rationally. Visual fascination, one of the tools Scholes believes
captures the minds of viewers, can take a simple video, and through the use of editing and special

We are simply awestruck by seeing something we cannot on our own.
The Budweiser commercial in question uses narrativity throughout itself to not only tell the story of
the umpire, but to tell the story of America, to tell the story of our national pastime, to tell the story
of the young black man who has worked ever so hard to make it, when he finally does. While
watching the young umpire working a game, we hear the narrator s voice, In the minors you got
to make all the calls, and then one day you get the call (Scholes, p. 620), Budweiser uses this
catchy phrase in order to grab our attention, to focus us on the commercial in order to look for
the blossoming story. This slight play on words has a great effect on a viewer due to the fact that
our minds think about the statement, and by the time we realize what is actually happening, the
commercial has shown us that the black umpire has just gotten his call. Later in the commercial,
after the game has obviously ended, we see the umpire sitting in the same bar as the manager who
confronted him about his bad call during the game. The old white manager with the history of

Economic Development Of Japan During World War II
In the past few decades, Japan has experienced a rapid growth with various problems associated
with urbanization. Japan has also been facing declining birthrate, aging population, poverty, and
overcoming deflation. Urbanization has enabled economic growth but it has contributed to climate
change, pollution, congestion, and the growth of slums. Also Social and Economic development
cannot be achieved without addressing global warming and other environmental issues. Due to
these problems, Japan has passed several laws to implement urbanization policies and city growth

of this Japan has worked its way to reform its economic and social issues.
Japan started experiencing urbanization before World War II and accelerated in the postwar

1980, and then slowed down in the 1980s and 1990s. As of January 2008, there were 23 wards,

Women In A Room Of One s Own Making
All three of these writings carry a similar message, but communicates their point through different
means. These two women are trying to stress the importance of knowing about women in the past,
so that women in the future will have a fighting chance to bring change. Virginia Woolf in her
writing, A Room of One s Own Making, tries to inspire women to keep pushing for their rights by
pointing out the injustices of past women. She does this by uncovering something that is very
obvious, but hardly anyone has ever known to look for the injustice done to women in history
before the 18th century. Because there is no recorded history of what women s life was like before
the 18th century, Woolf instead looked and the history of men and inferred the

Central Intelligence Agency
The Central Intelligence Agency was developed in 1947 by the National Security Act under
President Truman. The CIA is responsible for coordinating the nation s intelligence activities and
correlating, evaluating and disseminating intelligence affecting national security. Before the CIA
was developed President Franklin D. Roosevelt had the idea to create an agency that was
responsible for intelligence agencies. This agency became known as the Office of Strategic
Services. He hired New York lawyer and war veteran William J. Donovan to create a plan that
outlined the new intelligence service. In July of 1941 President Franklin Roosevelt approved the
plan and appointed William J. Donovan as the first Coordinator of Information. Once the... Show

Japanese military forces, the Japanese had cut off all communications with the United States
Military and then broke off all negotiations with the United States. Tension between the US and
Japan can be traced back to the early nineteenth century. Japanese had been planning this attack
on the United States since early 1941. The goal of the attack was to prevent the US from
entering World Was 2 by weakening their Naval Base. In reality the attack only helped persuade
American people to go to war, where as before the attack most Americans were anti war, they
believed that it was better to stay out of the war unless we had been attacked by another country
first. In this case an organized international intelligence agency stronger than the Office of
Strategic Services like the CIA would have been responsible for gathering information on a large

any historical ties that have developed this relationship? Is it possible to have a mutual relationship
where Aboriginal people and the RCMP can cooperate and work with one another? Thesis
statement: to be developed after interviews.
Possible Thesis: the continued decline is a result of police hegemony over a perceived second class
people. the continued decline is a result of a perceived police hegemony and assimilation through
laws and hard police enforcement by First Nations.

protect the Canadian state.) Plan of investigation: It is the purpose of this essay to conduct an
analytical observation through interviews of First Nations individuals, RCMP officers and
Academic instructors who have experience in Police First Nation relations. Moreover, the paper
will attempt to develop a solution to the Police First Nation relation; a cooperative form of policing.

Internal Control Project Paper
Introduction of Dentistar and the problem Dentistar, Inc. was formed in 1985 to provide dental
and orthodontic services to subscribers of their prepaid dental plans. This report examines the
western region s office, located in Los Angeles, and its issuance of excessive manual checks that
resulted in multiple bank overdrafts. Results indicate that only minimal efforts have been made for
internal control measures in this office and companywide, and that weaknesses have allowed the
Finance Coordinator to embezzle funds. There are many issues to be addressed, and several
remedial actions to be taken to prevent these types of losses going forward. Strengths in the internal

If any unauthorized transactions took place, the evidence is gone when the account is deleted.
Errors in segregation of duties are prevalent as well. The current tasks for the Finance Coordinator
position leave Dentistar open to internal control nightmares. This position is given responsibility to
consolidate information and calculate amounts for manual disbursements, prepare checks, maintain
regional accounting files, collect past due accounts receivable, organize financial data for audit,
and assist with human resources. Beyond that he is indirectly, through severe weaknesses in
internal control, given the ability to authorize refunds, issue payments for operating expenditures
and affect the general ledger. These duties and implied responsibilities effectively give him
custody, authority, recording, and review powers, which is a gross disregard for internal control.
Moreover, all personnel can create operating expenditures instead of one or a small number of
people, so auditors aren t able to trace expenses to individuals. Adequate speed of updating
information and open lines of communication are important for all companies. However, slow
reactions are causing control deficiencies. Regional employees are allowed to issue disbursements
that would take too long for the home office to make, but these transactions draw from accounts

Pedagogy Of The Oppressed Chapter 2 Analysis
Chapter 2 of Freire s Pedagogy of the Oppressed discusses a failed teaching method between the
student and teacher. It s a common mistake for teachers to treat the teaching process as a banking
concept . Freire discusses how this concept takes away creativity from students by forcing them to
memorize facts as the teacher deposits them into their minds. It s not expected of the student to
comprehend what they re learning. It s expected of them to take what the teacher is saying as fact
without critically thinking about the meaning behind it. Freire explains,
Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the
teacher is the depositor. Instead of communicating, the teacher issues communiquГ©s and makes
deposits which the students patiently receive, memorize, and repeat. This is the banking concept of
education, in which the scope of action ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an oppressive society, a group of individuals are expected to adapt and be controlled by a more
powerful group without question. Similar to a banking concept of education, at times it seems the
student is not expected to think for themselves. They listen to what the teacher deposits into their
mind, and they adapt. I strongly agree that this limits comprehension and creativity and forces you
to adapt to thinking like a robot. He makes a strong case with his analogy, Four times four is
sixteen......The student records, memorizes, and repeats these phrases without perceiving what four
times four really means. It s easy to get discouraged in school when it feels like information is being
thrown at you without much encouragement to fully grasp it. It s nearly impossible to truly
understand a concept when you re forced to memorize it immediately for a test. In conclusion,
teachers with this mindset should understand that to be a true educator is to encourage the student
to take the time to comprehend the material

The Coco Fall Semester
Jose Ricardo Calvo Professor Vandeveer POLT 567 December 3rd, 2015 Cocoa In 16 days all
UNH students will journey back home for holiday break to enjoy a month long of relaxation and
binge watching the latest Netflix original series. For some, this will be the first time since the
beginning of the Fall Semester that they will see their homes again, and to their surprise, they
may arrive to a newly decorated, holiday themed house. Some homes will be filled with classic
red and green tinsel, others with modern white and silver LED lights, and maybe some not at all
dressed up, but one item that almost every household will share is chocolate. Oddly enough,
every holiday, special occasion, or just because moments are filled with chocolate. You wouldn t

full of salt water taffy sent to your room to celebrate an anniversary, would you? Chocolate is our

Operating System And The Computer System Essay
Introduction: An operating system is a vital component of the computer system. The common and
simple devices like refrigerators and microwave ovens does not have an operating system. The
complex systems which handle several components, functions and processes usually have an
operating system. The operating system is like the brain of a human being, the brain is an essential
organ in the body of human being which sends signals and helps functioning of the human body.
Our intelligence, attitude, emotions and senses defines our presence, all these are possible because
of our brain. In similar manner, Operating System (OS) is the power behind a computer system. In
other words, operating system is brain of the computer and processor is the heart of the computer.
A computer is the concatenation of several hardware parts. The operating system manages
computer hardware resources and provides common services for computer programs and other
application software. Application programs or software usually require an operating system to
function. For basic hardware functions such as input and output and memory allocation, the
operating system acts as an intermediary between application software and the computer hardware,
although the hardware is directly accessed and executed by application code or software directly,
the hardware will frequently make a system call to an OS function or be interrupted by it. In simple
terms, operating systems track the activities of hardware and

If you can say that the damage would not have happened but for a particular fault, then that fault is
in fact a cause of the damage; but if you can say that the damage would have happened just the
same fault or no fault, then the fault is not a cause of the damage.
If there is more than one cause of the damage the but for test will have limited application. In such
case the courts will use a balance of probabilities test in determining causation. * Remoteness of
damage (reasonable foreseeable test, the test is objective) would a reasonable person have foreseen
the damage? * Assessment of damages: the aim of damages is to compensate the plaintiff for the

The Cocktail Party Effect Essay On Selective Attention
Have you ever ignored the phone ringing to focus on something more important or more interesting
to you? Something such as diving into a mouthwatering thanksgiving day meal, or sleeping in and
enjoying that wonderful dream you were having? Do you tend to forget the details that some
others seem to notice? When doing a task that is tedious or detail oriented, do you notice what it is
that you are working on but not whatever it is that is going on around you? If you answered yes to
any of these questions, then you suffer from selective attention. However there is no need t panic.

It has a limited capacity, (Dewey 1). 100 percent of human beings have selective attention.
Essentially, it is built into our hard drive. Everyone knows that being forgetful is a part of being
human. Although our brain works hard to store memories for us, it leaves out many key details,
ideas, feelings, or objects. Selective attention is one of the main causes of being forgetful, and the
Bottleneck Theory, the Cocktail Party Effect, the Filter Theory, and Fagley s Survey, will explain
why people do not retain as much information at once.
1. The Bottleneck Theory
The first theory to look at is the Bottleneck Theory from the 1950 s by Donald Broadbent. Along
with Broadbent, others also created bottleneck modeled theories. These people include Treisman
and Deutsch. Their, Models of Attention are all bottleneck models because they predict we cannot
consciously attend to all of our sensory input at the same time, (Selective Attention 1). However,
Broadbent is recognized as one of the major contributors when it came to the research involved in
this theory. He related selective attention to our working memory which is, that which holds our
attention, and it works as our limited capacity storage.

Challenges Children Face that Need to Be Addressed
Children in our communities are exposed to many challenges that need to be addressed by teachers
and adults in order to keep a healthy environment that promotes their development. Parents need to
be aware of children s different temperaments to make socialization easier and to improve
friendships and understanding. Teachers need to be aware of the developmental practices to ensure
the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Also, they need to be aware
of the risk factors that affect their school performance and their life to help them overcome their
problems. The two children with a very different temperamentthat I am going to describe are Maria
and Jose. After observing how they behave and act in different situations, I was able to know
each of their temperaments. For example, Maria fears strangers, gets frustrated very easily and
most of the time is fussy and moody. According to Roberta M. Berns, Maria s temperament is
categorized as difficult (Berns, 2013, p. 11). Socialization is rough at home and at school for this
child. Therefore, the kind of classroom and teaching style that could foster goodness of fit will be
an environment with a lot of space for her to do many activities that require energy and that help
her with her frustration. It is important to allow her to make some choices. As an educator, it is
important for me to remember to redirect her from one place to another and communicate with her
so she knows what to

What Is The Character Of Archie In The Chocolate War
The Chocolate War Essay You see Carter, people are two things: greedy and cruel. (Cormier,

quote not only describes the type of person Archie is it describes Brother Leon as well. Archie
and Brother Leon are both very manipulative between abusing their powers and doing wrong
things. Archie is the Assigner of the Vigils and is in position of power which causes students the
be afraid of him. Archie and Brother Leon are really similar characters in The Chocolate War by
Robert Cormier, with examples like both being cruel to students and manipulative. First reasoning
on how these two characters are similar is how they are both cruel. Archie makes students in

money from the school when he shouldn t have. This is shown through Archie s conversation with
Brian Cochran about Leon s motives. Leon needs at least twenty thousand dollars to draw even
with the school (Cormier, 163). Brother Leon needs to draw even with the school because he took
the money without the school s permission and the sucess of the chocolate sale will him him break

  • 2. The Necessity of Personal Responsibility Essay Personal responsibility may be perceived in many ways, but it is imperative to understand the relevance of why it must begin with our self. First, one will never develop an attitude of responsibility if they always look for others to complete their task. It is a necessity that one has personal discipline or their efforts to be responsible will prove to be fruitless. Second, being responsible yields great rewards and acting responsible is a clear sign of maturity. A responsible individual looks to no one but self and no matter what the outcome; they are willing to stand by their decisions. (Maltby 2009), Personal responsibilityis concerned with people taking individual accountability for their decisions and actions, together with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Personal responsibility may yield many rewards. For example, Mary s entry level position at Trump Towers was administrative assistant. During a period of one year, Mary validated her worth by working overtime and always volunteering to help with other projects. As Mary continued to flourish in completing her assignments, she was elevated from administrative assistant to executive director of the accounting department. There are many levels of maturity, but maturity is a process that students develop over a period of time. Consequently, the student that matures quickly is likely to initiate an educational plan that will increase their academic success. One preliminary plan that a student can design to achieve academic success is goal setting. Goal setting allows the student to define their academic goals and to devise a plan that will accommodate their collegiate career. One way to make goals effective is to examine them up close. (Ellis, p. 70,2011) Prior to this point we established several factors to confirm the necessity of personal responsibility, but here we will interject effective strategies that a student must use to generate success in their chosen field of study. Research and observation reveals that the most successful students are accountable, but also have a strong determination to apply practical concepts to achieve their academic goals. The successful student operates in congruence between faculty and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Mating Habits of Bonobos and Honey Bees Essay Every species has their unique way to survive and interact with their environment. Some have extra appendages in order to better combat predators, or they have bodies that allow them to camouflage to their environment. Every species also has their way of reproducing and copulation, whether for necessity or for enjoyment. Two species with different mating habits are the Apis mellifera, better known as honey bees, and Pan paniscus, Bonobos apes. The former uses its reproductionmethods for the survival of the entire colony of honey bees in exchange with the death of few and the former uses copulation in a social setting in order to keep the peace of the pack. Honey bees, or Apis mellifera, are social insects, despite what preconceptions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1990). They are not needed for the winter months because they do not possess a stinger and are therefore no use to the worker bees after copulation with the queen. When it comes time for a new queen to emerge and take the place of the old queen, the previous queen starts to lay eggs in queen cups. This usually happens around the time when swarming, or the reproduction of these bees, is in favorable condition. These cups eventually become specially constructed queen cells relatively similar to the shape of a peanut. Workers will only complete the queen cell once the queen lays an egg in it. The queen larva develops differently from the other worker bees because it is fed royal jelly very heavily compared to the other larvae in the hive, which are only fed the royal jelly for two days after they are born. This difference in their diet allows the queen larva to develop into a sexually mature female. The royal jelly is made from digested pollen or nectar and mixed with a chemical that is produced from a gland on the head of a nursing bee (Haydak, M. 1970). The queen that emerges is called a virgin queen because she has not mated with any of the drones. In order to become the actual queen of the hive, the virgin queen must find other queen rivals and kill them. She may also use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Research Paper On Scarface Scarface You wanna f**k with me? Okay. You wanna play rough? Okay. Say hello to my little friend! (Palma, Bregman, Stone Scarface) Bellows the infamous drug lord over the sound of his past finally catching up with him. All of Tony Montana s (Al Pacino) self established business is being tested by the enemies he s making along his path of crime in Scarface, 1983 . Brian De Palma certainly knows how to make an audience initially love, which gradually turns into hate, the protagonist of the film. Martin Bregman, came to Palma with the concept of remaking the 1932 Scarface with the a modern twist, as crime has evolved a lot in the 50 year this film laid dormant. Bregman wanted the film to focus on the modern day crime bosses, rather than remake an outdated mindset, which can be seen with scarface s military technology. This then evolved into the drug filled miami setting, due to production costs. Scarface, Tony Montana, starts the movie as a political prisoner in Miami Florida, with aspirations to rise up to the top by any means necessary. Tony and his friend, Manny Ribera (Steven Bauer), are able to get work at a small food stand as dishwashers. This brings them to meeting the local colombian mafia, which in turn drags them into the filth that is organized crime. Tony starts off working for Frank Lopez (Robert Loggia), but quickly develops a desire to have all that he has, including his mistress, Elvira Hancock (Michelle Pfeiffer). Once on top, Tony grows impatient of waiting for things to come naturally and produces heinous actions that make him a target by virtually everyone. The movie takes place in the 1980s during Cuban Crimewave in Miami Florida. Tony Montana is presented as a killer from Cuba, who gained access to freedom by being released into America by Castro. Which essentially gave him the potential for a fresh start, the ability to choose his future. Landing a job as a dishwasher across the street from a popular night club inspires Tony to get back into the life of crime. After a drug deal gone wrong, and friend dying by chainsaw, Tony decides it s time to meet the head honcho of the organization he is working for. Soon after meeting Frank Lopez, Tony quickly decides he wants to have all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are common vulnerabilities that have the ability to compromise a mobile device. The vulnerabilities are able to give attacks a leverage in obtaining sensitive information or secured data. • 8. the medieval castle Essay the medieval castle What is a castle? A castle is a properly fortified military residence. Why were castles built? Initially, they were designed and built to hold down conquered territory. They also served to intimidate and strike fear into the local peoples, were places of refuge, and places for the lords to live. They were also impressive symbols of the power and wealth of their owners. How castles came to exist in Europe? Castles were brought to England by William the Conqueror, when he invaded England from his homeland in France. Known as the Duke of Normandy, William invaded England in 1066 and, due to his victory in the Battle of Hastings, William was crowned the King of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many of the people who lived in Britain before it was conquered did not like being controlled by the king s barons, and wanted to keep control of their own lands themselves. But that was not possible, because William and later kings (and queens) demanded they pay homage. Therefore, castles were built to establish the power of the king and his followers, and to keep the people from regaining control of their own lands. These first knights and barons, followers of William the Conqueror, were known as the Normans, and were a very powerful lot. They built castles almost everywhere in Britain, hundreds of which still survive. Stone castles were built for stability and to symbolize the power of the lords of the kingdom. Even if the king did not order a particular castle to be built for his use, he still retained the ability to seize any of his lords castles if they displeased him or if the king had a special reason to want to use it. What features made stone castles stable and able to withstand battle? * The walls were very thick, anywhere between 8 and 20 feet in thickness, so they could withstand bombings or battering from a battering ram, or another seige machine like a catapult. * Originally, towers were simple square shapes, easy to build but also easy to topple down. One of the smartest ways that a tower was pulled down was a method known as undermining. An enemy s soldiers would dig a tunnel under one corner of a tower, prop it up with wood, and ... He could do backflips in thigh high water, and could dunk a stick through a basketballhoop like Michael Jordan. Bo Jackson is no stranger when it comes to strength abilities. Throughout his life he was praised for having prodigious talents that almost seemed unreal. As a child he would throw crabapples at screen doors with such a force that they would break through. • 10. Mind and Hamlet An admirable text does not define or exhaust its possibilities . What possibilities do you see in Shakespeare s Hamlet? Discuss your ideas with close reference to at least two scenes from Hamlet. Shakespeare s texts have been re visited, re interpreted and re invented to suit the context and preferences of an evolving audience, and it through this constant recreation it is evident that Hamlet does not define or exhaust its possibilities . Through the creation of a character who emulates a variety of different themes, such as revenge, realisation of reality and the questioning of humanity, we can see the different possibilities within Hamlet as an admirable text with enduring human value. Furthermore, the emotional journey of Hamlet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A more definitive reading of Hamlet disputes the claim that he was mad, and instead suggests that Hamlet feigns madness in order to become closer to the truth. This reading is an example of Shakespeare demonstrating the changing context in Denmark through the projection of the protagonist as an extended metaphor for the emerging Renaissance Humanism period. This period was defined by choice and analysis of events, and is emulated through Hamlet s alliterated statement in his soliloquy in Scene 3, Act 1, conscience makes cowards of us all. Hamlet believes he is in a psychological state of cowardice, and that his conscience is holding him back through his assessment of the consequences of acting on the orders of the ghost. L.C. Knight believes Hamlet is the exploration and implicit criticism of a particular state of mind or consciousness . This questioning on the theme of humanity and the final stage in Hamlet s complex thought process is finally resolved in the soliloquy in Scene 4, Act 3. Hamlet s characterisation, once that of a pure man whose mind was riddled with angst at the idea of murder shifts to a mind of bloody thoughts as a result of his bound duty. • 11. The Importance Of Homeostasis And A State Of Equilibrium... All living things strive towards one goal: homeostasis. Homeostasis is a state of equilibrium reached through physiological processes. In order to maintain homeostasis, living things use cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems to counteract physical changes. Using a variety of different tissues, organs are formed to accomplish specific tasks. The four main types of tissuesare epithelial tissue, connective tissue, muscular tissue, and nervous tissue. Several sublevels exist for each type of tissue. Epithelial tissue covers body surfaces and lines body cavities. The three main kinds of Epithelial tissue are squamous which is composed of flat cells, cuboidal, which is composed of cube shaped cells, and columnar which is composed of stretched, pillar like cells. Each type of epithelial tissue can be either simple or stratified. Simple is one layer of cells, while stratified has more than one layer. Each type can also be glandular. Glands can be either one epithelial cell or multiple cells. Its purpose is to secrete products into different parts of the body or outside of the body. Exocrine glands secrete their products into ducts or directly into a tube/cavity. Endocrine glands secrete their products directly into the bloodstream. Examples of epithelial tissue are the linings of lungs, kidneys, small intestine, and the nose. A common trait that all epithelial tissue have is that they are attached to the basement membrane, a thin layer of proteins that anchors to connective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You must know if the person is sane or insane, over the abyss (Young 1). However, in the novel Animal Farm written by George Orwell, many of the farm animals blindly followed a leader regardless of what that leader did or said. These submissions lead to a lack of reasoning and thought behind the animal s actions. Orwell uses allusions, violence, and comparisons to delineate the theme that following leadership blindly will ultimately cause a society to fail. By being submissive to Napoleon, many animals were hurt and killed in battles. One of the worst battles fought was with the neighboring farmers, A cow, three sheep, and two geese were killed, and nearly everyone was wounded (Orwell 108). This battle was led by Napoleon and his close comrades. If the animals had thought of the potential consequences and not fought in the battle, many lives could have been saved. The death of Boxer is also an example of how negligence and blind leadership can cause harm to others. After being told that Boxer would be taken to a safe place by Napoleon, he was taken to a slaughter house, They are taking Boxer to the knacker s! (Orwell 123). If the animals had taken matters into their own hands, Boxer would have been protected. He would have not lost his life simply because Napoleon told a lie. Finally, Orwell writes how Boxer murdered a human because he told that it was the right thing to have a rebellion. Along with other animals, Boxer fought for the farm, He is dead, said Boxer sorrowfully. I had no intention of doing that (Orwell 58). The first one is free association, patients are encouraged to give free rein to their thoughts and feelings, expressing whatever comes into the mind without monitoring its content, it assumed that repressed material would be emerged ultimately. The first reason was that the colonists were being taxed unfairly, the second reason was that colonists had no representation in the English Parliament and the third reason was that the governing mother country was an ocean away from the colonies. Changing Lives with the Fifth Agrement by Don Miguel Ruiz The Fifth Agreement Published in 2011, The Fifth Agreement is a sequel to The Fourth Agreement, and offers another powerful agreement for changing lives. The authors Don Miguel Ruiz and his son Don Jose Ruiz inspire the readers to see the truth and to alter the message they communicate to themselves and the people around them. According to them, the fifth agreement is the pathway to complete inner peace and self satisfaction. Whereas the first four agreements are about breaking free from thousands of agreements that create unnecessary suffering, the fifth agreement helps regain the power of authenticity, which is the true character that we are born with. These agreements are 1) be impeccable with your words, 2) don t take anything personally, 3) don t make assumptions, 4) always do your best, and 5) be skeptical, but learn to listen. The authors include stories from the Bible, and make reference to heaven and hell to demonstrate their point. At the beginning of the novel, they talk about the relationship between God and men. In the story, God and Adam are walking around together, when God asks him how he would like to name everything (Ruiz and Ruiz 20). It is in this conversation between God and Adam that the authors explain the meaning of objective and subjective perceptions. This purpose of this paper is to discuss the ethical misconduct that occurred at Penn State, Ohio State and the University of Arkansas, and how the NCAA played a role in the wrongdoing. Coaches, players, and administrators face mounting pressures brought on by the need to sell seats and win games. In response, this type of pressure creates opportunities for offenses to take place. The first component of the paper will be to determine the fundamental ways in which the ethics programs of the NCAA failed to prevent the scandals at Penn State, Ohio State, and the University of Arkansas. This report will discuss gene therapy, the underlying biology of cystic fibrosis (CF), current treatments and the use of gene therapy to cure CF. The advantages and disadvantages of gene therapy will be analysed and a decision will be made on its effectiveness as a treatment for CF. Gene therapy is an experimental treatment, which is used to replace mutated, improperly functioning genes with regular DNA. There are several gene therapy methods, most of which involve using a vector to transport the corrected gene into targeted cells. Retro viruses, adeno viruses, adeno ascosciated viruses and liposomes are commonly used as vectors. Naked DNA (DNA without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without a vector, mutated cells cannot be targeted, which means the treatment would be ineffective. Since the 1990 s, scientists have experimented with the use of viral vectors, such retroviruses, adeno viruses and adeno asscociated viruses. Viruses contain a circular piece of DNA known as the plasmid. During gene therapy, the segment of DNA responsible for viral spread is removed. The correct copy of the mutated gene is then inserted into the virus. The virus is then inhaled, swallowed or injected depending on the location of the target cells. (in the case of CF, the vector is inhaled). Retroviruses are viruses that contains RNA instead of DNA. Retroviruses can only infect dividing cells and the viral RNA needs to be reverse transcribed to DNA, so that gene can be replicated for mitosis (this is done using enzymes). Unfortunately, retroviruses have been found to implant genes into random parts of the genome. This means that the introduced gene can disrupt an existing, functional gene. Between 1999 and 2006, reasearchers performed gene therapy on 5 children with a genetic immune defficiency, using retroviruses as vectors. By 2006, all 5 of these children had developed leukemia as a result of the vector implanting into a random part of the genome. Adenoviruses have also been used as vectors, however, they do not integrate into the genome permaneatly and are likely to trigger an immune response. In 1999, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Visual fascination, one of the tools Scholes believes captures the minds of viewers, can take a simple video, and through the use of editing and special effects, turn it into a powerful scene which one simply cannot take his or her eyes from. It s not expected of the student to comprehend what they re learning. It s expected of them to take what the teacher is saying as fact without critically thinking about the meaning behind it. Freire explains, Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the teacher is the depositor. Challenges Children Face that Need to Be Addressed Children in our communities are exposed to many challenges that need to be addressed by teachers and adults in order to keep a healthy environment that promotes their development. Parents need to be aware of children s different temperaments to make socialization easier and to improve friendships and understanding. Teachers need to be aware of the developmental practices to ensure the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Also, they need to be aware of the risk factors that affect their school performance and their life to help them overcome their problems. The two children with a very different temperamentthat I am going to describe are Maria and Jose. After observing how they behave and act in different situations, I was able to know each of their temperaments. For example, Maria fears strangers, gets frustrated very easily and most of the time is fussy and moody. According to Roberta M. Berns, Maria s temperament is categorized as difficult (Berns, 2013, p. 11). Socialization is rough at home and at school for this child. Therefore, the kind of classroom and teaching style that could foster goodness of fit will be an environment with a lot of space for her to do many activities that require energy and that help her with her frustration. It is important to allow her to make some choices. As an educator, it is important for me to remember to redirect her from one place to another and communicate with her so she knows what to ... • 55. What Is The Character Of Archie In The Chocolate War The Chocolate War Essay You see Carter, people are two things: greedy and cruel. (Cormier, 241) This quote said by Archie in The Chocolate War shows us the type of person Archie is. This quote not only describes the type of person Archie is it describes Brother Leon as well. Archie and Brother Leon are both very manipulative between abusing their powers and doing wrong things. Archie is the Assigner of the Vigils and is in position of power which causes students the be afraid of him. Archie and Brother Leon are really similar characters in The Chocolate War by Robert Cormier, with examples like both being cruel to students and manipulative. First reasoning on how these two characters are similar is how they are both cruel. Archie makes students in Trinity do assignments that are horrible and gets them in trouble. For example, Archie makes Goober do the assignment of unscrewing all the screws in Brother Eugene s classroom. While Goober is doing this he begins to cry and get... Everyone is scared of him because he is in position of power and always gets his way. Brother Leon is intelligent and tough because he starts a fundraiser to sell chocolates for money to cover up the fact that he took money from the school when he shouldn t have. This is shown through Archie s conversation with Brian Cochran about Leon s motives. Leon needs at least twenty thousand dollars to draw even with the school (Cormier, 163). Brother Leon needs to draw even with the school because he took the money without the school s permission and the sucess of the chocolate sale will him him break even. He s tough in ways that he gets mad when he finds out Archie is involved with the situation in Brother Eugene s room and pushes him against the wall and yells at him embarrassing ...
