Self Destruction In The Black Cat By Edgar Allen Poe
By analyzing The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe, we can see that the main character in the story
makes exceptionally perverse choices. The motive for his actions can be found in clues given
throughout the story. We can investigate what happened to the man, and see exactly what caused
him to respond in such a violent manner. To further look into the motives for the characters actions,
we must inspect and evaluate whether it was self destruction that turned him mad, or an effect of
outside events.
The narrator acts in a way that shows us that he has self destructive tendencies. We can assume this
after we see him kill his cat, and in other parts of the story. He regrets killing his cat almost
instantaneously. He says, I experienced a sentiment half of horror, half of remorse, for the crime
of which I had been guilty (Poe 5). He deeply regrets cutting the cats eye out. He decided to kill the
cat because he was so emotionally guilty. He tells us, One night, returning home, much intoxicated,
from one of my haunts about town. (Poe 5). He was drunk, and this means that alcohol played an
essential part in his perverse decisions. The fact that his house burned down the night of the murder
is symbolic. The night of the day that he killed Pluto, he says, The curtains of my bed were in
flames. The whole house was blazing (Poe 6). His house is all of his achievements and worldly
wealth, and it was burned to the ground in flames. It is a direct result of his sin of murdering the
innocent cat. It could be seen as a symbol of his eternal destiny. It is a punishment for killing the cat.
While alcohol is a killer, outside influences could be the main reason for the characters perverse
actions. The character mentions his childhood briefly in the beginning of the story. I view the
act as the climax of inner, suppressed anxieties that are contained in how the narrator goes back
to when he was a young boy. His friends made fun of him for being so nice and docile. My
tenderness of heart was even so conspicuous as to make me the jest of my companions (Poe 3).
His friends seem to have made fun of him because he was a good person. He spent most of his
time with his animals. His time he spent could have been because his

Literary Criticism Of Rusalka
A masterpiece of operatic literature, AntonГn DvoЕ™ГЎk s Rusalka steadily rises to international
recognition and popularity. With its lush melodies, beautiful orchestration, and poetic text, Rusalka
continues to transcend the idea that it exists strictly as a Czech opera unable to be understood by
foreign audiences. Though it remains the only of DvoЕ™ГЎk s operas to receive international
fame (and is arguably the greatest), the romanticism and universal appeal of the story aide in
securing a place for DvoЕ™ГЎk in history as not only a great orchestral composer, but also a
gifted composer of opera. Rusalka tells the story of a water nymph (Rusalka) who falls passionately
in lovewith a humanprince. She makes a deal with a witch to become a human herself, so that she
might experience love. However, this compromise comes at a price. First, Rusalka will not be
able to use her voice to communicate with humans. Second, if she fails to win the Prince s
affections, she will be pulled back by the water, forever cursed to exist as a bludiДЌka, or will o the
wisp, a soulless light moving erratically over the water and luring men to their deaths in the
swamps. Though Rusalka is initially successful in winning the Prince s love, he grows
increasingly frustrated with her inability to speak to him and is seduced by a foreign princess.
Rusalka, betrayed, returns to the water to accept her fate. As Rusalka laments her fate, the witch
returns with a knife to tell her she can avoid a soulless

Doppelgänger s That Lived In A Tiny Town In Russia
Two doppelgänger s that went by the names of Anastasia and Daevea lived in a tiny town in
Russia. The town ran on a single clock tower, whose gears turned by itself. The clocktower kept
the inhabitants of the town and their houses alive and colorful. One fateful day the twisted
doppelgänger Daevea made the terrible choice to enter the forbidden forest outside of their
pocket sized town. The forest was filled with evil spirits and creatures of the night and contained
an enchantresses book of spells. The book was hidden away deep in the brush of the forest. Daevea
decided to steal the book for her own destructive needs. Daevea was so jealous of her fellow
doppelgänger she decided she needed to kill her. Daevea and Anastasia might have had the

Narrative Essay On A Halloween Party
On October 31st my friends Molly and Jordyn and I were getting ready for a Halloween party.
We put our costumes on and checked the address one more time before we left the house. One of
Molly s friends invited us to a party but none of us have been to the house before. So, we were
taking our chances to find our way there. On our way to the party Molly took a wrong turn instead
of going left she took a right.
We didn t realize that she took a wrong turn until we were already driving down a dirt roadand we
were out in the middle of nowhere and where there were no houses and where there was no cell
phone service. So, we couldn t call and get directions to the house again. Molly was freaking out
because we got lost and there was no place to turn around at. We were driving for about 5 miles and
we ran out of
gas and our car battery died. So, we were out walking down the dirt road trying to get cell phone
service and that s when this creepy old man with this scary mask on came out of the middle of
nowhere and he walked up to us and started talking to us. He said what are you three girls doing
out here? Molly, Jordyn, and I looked at each other and then looked back at him and said we
were on our way to this Halloween party but we took a wrong turn and started driving down this
dirt road until our car battery died and when we ran out of gas.
The creepy old man told us that just a couple of more miles down the road he had gas, jumper
cables, and an extra battery in his building

`` The Price Of Success ``
Vince Lombardi once said, The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and
the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task
at hand. Donald Trump successfully won the 2016 election and will have four more years to
successfully carry out his term. From childhood to adulthood Trump has shown a charismatic
personality, therefore, there are plenty of insights predicting his actions during his presidency. In
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs there are five stages. In order, the stages are: Physiological, Safety,
Love and Belongingness, Esteem, and Self Actualization. Trump flip flops between two of the
stages: Love and Belongingness, and Esteem. One of Trump s traits of the Big Five is narcissism,
which in the McAdam s (2016) article, it states that people display this trait because they lack early
life mirroring. This means that the parents failed to lovingly reflect on their child s budding
grandiosity, in return, leaving the child desperately seeking affirmation from others throughout
their lives. Love and Belongingness reflects Trump s narcissistic tendencies in this way. Trump
shows the Esteem stage with his need to be the best, be successful, and prove that he can be a
successful president. As president of the United States, Trump is trying to fulfill his Self
Actualization need with Self Transcendence by helping others and fulfill his inner potential as
president. Trump bases his actions and goals on the

Compare And Contrast The Kodaly And Orff Methods Of Music...
The Kodaly and Orff methods of music education have stood the test of time, popular for effectively
engaging and teaching children crucial skills. While both share similarities in their approach
particularly the belief that all children should receive music education the Kodaly method is better
suited for teaching students in Victorian government primary schools, most of which are not
resourced with musical instruments and specialist music teachers. The Kodaly approach focuses
more on singing as the foundation for music skills rather than learning instruments and has a very
ordered, sequential process. This makes it easier for teachers to present music concepts to students
at different developmental stages. This process also allows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After being taught solfege, the hand movements helped me learn how to pitch notes when singing.
Clapping and dancing allowed me to feel the pulse and rhythm of the music within my body. To
prevent ourselves from rushing and singing ahead of the beat, we would have to stomp our feet by
walking in our spot. This helped us manage our pace and sing in time.
Research shows that benefits from the Kodaly methodology include literacy and numeracy skills,
spatial temporal reasoning, intelligence and social emotional development.
In 21st century Australia, music educators who use either the Orff or KodГЎly method to teach
Primary School students need to consider the difference in cultural backgrounds compared to that
of Hungary or Germany over a century ago. Now teachers must alter the curriculum to choose songs
that are not only age appropriate, but multicultural and diverse. The music repertoire taught under
the KodГЎly method.
But there are many aspects of music education that can be improved to better integrate other 21st
century skills. The creative skills of improvisation and composition are not yet integral parts of the
music curriculum, primarily due to music teachers lack of adequate training in these skills (Fowler
1996; Madura Ward Steinman 2007).

Significant Cultural Conflicts In The 1920 s
The 1920 s was a time of significant cultural conflict in the United States. The causes of these
conflicts came with the massive changes that occurred in America at the time, such as the change in
business and citizens. Flourishing massive waves immigration, prosperity. However, many people
worried about the deteriorating nature of society and blamed the problems of crime, corruption and
poverty on the new influx of immigrants from around the world. Although attempts to immigrate

rectify society. For many Americans, Immigration marked a cultural conflicts in the 1920 s. A new

Quotas were based on the desirability of various nationalities; aliens from northern and Western
Europe were considered more desirable than those fromsouthern and Eastern Europe. Immigrants
who fulfilled lawful residence requirements were exempt from quotas, as were alien wives,
children, and some husbands of U.S. citizens. Congress eventually passed an act providing for the
denial of visas to aliens whose presence in the U.S. would endanger public safety. Immigration
legislation passed after being including the laws barring the Chinese from entering the U.S. and
allowing their admission to the country in accordance with an annual quota. A federal law passed
authorizing the admission to the U.S., without regard to quota and physical and other standards,
the wives and children of citizens serving in or honorably discharged from the armed forces of the

7.5 Use Effective Classroom Communication
Teaching is highly dependent on communication. This is made clear by Simonds and Cooper
(2014) suggesting that teaching and learning is impossible without communicating, communication
is inevitable in an educational environment. Outstanding teachers display effective communication,
it is the basis of their teaching reputation as well as the basis of their rapport with students, parents,
colleagues and others (Simonds and Cooper, 2014). 3.5 Use effective classroom communication

Women And Queen Guenevere And The Wife Of Bath s Tale
Throughout history, women have drastically changed ever since the Middle Ages to present day.
Women from the medieval times weren t able to do what men are doing now: work because there
are some women that look up to a man s lifestyle. Before the time of having their own rights, they
were often expected to do womanly duties: clean, cook, pleasure their husband, etc. However, in the
case of Queen Guenevere and The Wife, the two ladies were very loving and independent during
their time. A women from the medieval times, who is known as The Wife from a poem called

Queen not knowing that Sir Lancelot was fooling around with other ladies was to save himself
from being caught by the King. Little did she know that Lancelot was doing this to divert
attention from their affair. This describes Queen Guenevere as an adultery, but was still royal to
Sir Lancelot. So much of her petty and jealously grew since then. Both women were very
vulnerable to men but still remained loyal to them even though their needs weren t meant to be,
and also, by having different viewpoints on being a good spouse. For Queen Guenevere, she
was faithful, rich and, a jealous person that truly loved the man of her life, Sir Lancelot. Then, as
the book saith, Sir Lancelot began to resort unto Queen Guenevere again, and forgat the promise

Taking a Look at Hip Hop Culture
Hip Hop Culture As I was growing up in the late 1970 s, it has always been common knowledge
that hip hop music and its culture originated in the South Bronx section of New York City in the
early 1970 s. Since this time, hip hop has become a multi cultural fusion of many different
contributions made by several ethnic groups like Caucasians, Asians, blacks, and Hispanics, to
name just a few. Hip hop has definitely exploded within many cultures and subcultures throughout
the world and within the past decade or so; it has been getting widespread exposure. When hip hop
music and the whole culture of the movement first came onto the scene, it incorporated many
different art forms. These art forms include deejaying [cuttin and scratchin ], emceeing or rapping,
beatboxing, breakdancing, and graffiti art. In today s society, hip hop still incorporates these
different art forms, but it also includes the way you dress; the language or terminology you use;
and the way you walk, act, and look. Hip hop music on a whole has always been a form of self
expression depicting a person s lifestyle; their pain; their struggle; and the realities of street life.
For some rappers or singers today in the hip hop game, it s still a form of self expression. But for
others, it s all about the money, clothes, jewelry, or the Bling bling. Ka ching. Ka ching. (Liu, Pg.
1) Since the early to mid 90 s, hip hop has undergone so many changes that it has actually lost its
culture. Hip hop has become,

Reducing Acid Rain through Mining and Smelting Industries http://miningandacidrain.weebly.com
What is Acid Rain?
Acid rain is rain that has been made acidic by certain pollutants in the air and has low pH levels
that can harm the environment. It is a type of acid deposition that can appear in many forms such
as, wet deposition, which can be rain, sleet snow or fog that is more acidic than normal, and dry
deposition, where gases and dust particles become acidic. (Epa.gov) Acid deposition in wet and
dry forms, falls on buildings, cars and trees and makes lakes acidic, which then leads to the danger
of plant and animal life. Dry acid deposition though, can be inhaled by humans, which can then
cause health problems. (Epa.gov)
How is Acid Rain Created?
When fossil fuels are burned to create electricity pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen
oxides are released into the air. They then mix with oxygen and water in the air to form acid rain.
These chemicals can travel long distances in the rain before being deposited. (Epa.gov)
There are several different pollutants that can lead to acid rain such as SO2, SO3, NO2, and CO2.
These pollutants react with water to create acids as shown below.
Sulfur dioxide + water пѓ sulfurous acid
Sulfur trioxide + water пѓ sulfuric acid
Nitrogen dioxide + water пѓ nitric acid + nitrous acid
Carbon dioxide + water пѓ carbonic acid
Although Mining does not directly create acid rain, it does lead

Human Emotion And Its Effect On Human Consciousness
The purpose of life, to some degree, is to seek happiness and to seek out other people to achieve
that happiness. Sigmund Freud developed this idea, which is known as the pleasure principle,
claiming to explain that the human consciousness and subconsciousness revolve around this idea. If
someone is isolated, then they will try to alleviate that suffering in one way or another. Human
emotionis reduced to extremely simple terms, unlike what they truly are, which is extremely
complex. The idea of reducing humans to such a simple understanding seems unfair, but it carries a
sense of truth to it. Every person on Earth is seeking for pleasure, and it carries truth because no
person appreciates the feelingof unpleasantness. Isolation is a defense method against the world to
seek pleasure and to avoid unpleasant feelings in life. Freud believes that everyone attempts to get
away from things that cause us pain and suffering and that everyone feels suffering as a result of
society, but the way people attempt to alleviate this suffering defines us as a person.
Two people could be faced with the death of a close relative, but the one who alleviates his
suffering through drugs is very different from the one who alleviates his suffering through burying
himself in his work. The exploration of Freud s ideas through different characters of the two
stories, Sonny s Blues and Ceremony, reveal that Freud s principles regarding human nature are not
the basis for all human life. Sonny s

The war is causing the country Great Britain to lose the loyal people, money, and land. The British
Army is wasting time on beating these armies, who think they can compete with the best military
on earth. The Brits shall end the war, so they can use their military and money more purposely
and responsibly. Our army needs to take a chill pill. The army is antagonizing the rebels, and
they are doing the same to back. The only difference is that the patriots are fighting back more
fiercely. The article Redcoats and Rebels: the American Revolution through British Eyes, explains
that, After Yorktown Britain had little interest left for the war, the rebels were bankrupt and
economically they had little to gain at this point. On top of that, the French were putting pressure
on mainland Britain which is of course a larger worry and focus for the British. END THE WAR

If they lose this war, they might get a bad reputation. This is clearly explained in the following

Paul Revere Research Papers
Paul Revere was conceived January 1, 1735, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the child of
Apollos Rivoire, a French worker who had come to America at 13 years old, and the little girl of
Deborah Hichborn a craftsman family. Apollos, who changed his name to the more English
sounding Paul not long after in the wake of landing in America, was a craftsman himself. After a
long apprenticeship with a goldsmith, the senior Revere set up his very own shop in the
occasionally harsh North End area of Boston. When he was mature enough, his child Paul most
seasoned of seven youngsters, apprenticed with him. From every angle, the youthful Paul Revere
was a genuine and submitted craftsman. When he was 19, disaster struck when Revere s dad

Protestantism In The 16th Century
Home of the Baguette, Eiffel Tower, and Ratatouille, France is one place where my family
originated from. In the 16th century my ancestors, the LeVan s, were Huguenots of the time that
fled France during the War on Religion and traveled to Holland, then Philadelphia later on. When
King Henry IV was in rule he signed the Edict of Nantes, giving my family some freedoms. After
seeing hatred towards their religion, they ended up having to flee France(Brumbach 1). During the
16th century, Protestantism became a practice of a small number of French people, typically nobles
and elites of the time. Protestantism is a form of Christianity that originated during the
Reformation, which is the movement where people thought the Roman Catholic Church... Show

About 70,000 people were killed in one single day. The person who was behind the slaughter
was King Charles IX s mother, Catherine de Medici. She was the one who convinced King
Charles IX to order an assassination on Protestant leaders in Paris, which lead to the mass killing.
While King Charles IX wanted peace amongst Protestants and other churches his mother was the
complete opposite. He even went as far as arranging a marriage on his sister with a protestant
nobleman to try to bring the two together. After the assassination occurred many Huguenots were
angry and wanted Charles to investigate. This is when Catherine de Medici ended up convincing
Charles that the Huguenots are rebelling and to send soldiers to assassinate the leaders. Not only
did she persuade him to do something that one would never expect Charles to do but the
assassination happened on the day of the marriage between the Protestant leader and King Charles
IX s sister. On August 25, one day later, Charles issued an order to stop the killings, but nobody
listened and continue to brutally kill any Huguenot ( Saint Bartholomew s Day Massacre 2017) .
This lasted for months, and resumed the War on

How Did Liberalism Return To Paganism
Liberalism, a return to Paganism.
Modern liberalism is an infantile disorder that purveys freedom as living as you like. Apparently it
yields indiscriminate tolerance, which is encapsulated in the campus adage I m okay, you re okay ,
but in reality its followers are intolerant to anything that opposes their worldview. If you probe
deeper, it is interesting how the ultimate essence of liberalism, like that of idol worship, is denial of
the unity of the world, hence unqualified pluralism.
Moreover, is it really a coincidence that Liberalism has embraced everything in paganism that all
earlier Abrahamic religions, and finally Islam had rejected the crass materialism, the cynicism, the
nihilism and fatalism, the hedonism? And is it also

How the Discoveries and Culture of the Renaissance have...
The renaissance was a time of intellectual development, with a new focus on humanism, and an
abandonment of the prevailing church ideals, with this newfound appreciation on human potential,
and scientific discovery shaped the time, and belief structure. In addition, this was the time where
one might encounter, one or several of these remarkable talented Renaissanceindividuals, which
ranged from artisans, to scientists, sculptors, philosophers, painters, and poets. It would have been
exciting seeing them bustling around in a day to day environment, I could only imagine, walking
into the Vatican and viewing Michelangeloat work painting the Sistine chapel. The sheer scope of
and monumentality of this undertaking was truly enormous task, at over 5500 sq. ft. This was the
culmination of the ambitions of, Pope Julius II, and the aspirations of Michelangelo himself.
Working from scaffolds over 70, Ft. high above the floor, was physically daunting, the angels and
height alone were an undertaking unto themselves. I am in awe at the talent and ingenuity used to
create such a beautiful piece of artwork. The result was truly a spectacular work of art. The photos
are even remarkable, and wonderful to view. The Renaissance brought about no shortage of
amazing individuals. Giotto, Donatello, Durer, and Leonardo Da Vincito name just a few. Giotto for
instance was referred to as the father of Renaissance paintings, his talent in painting the Jesus

Prohibition Drug Legalization
Prohibition Benjamin Rush, a Philadelphia physician was one of the first to openly write about
the effects of alcohol, he called it An Inquiry Into The Effects Of Arden Spirits On The Mind
And Body (Hart and Ksir 2015). Rush made the connection between alcohol abuse and liver
disease, he believed that liquor interfered with a person s morality and referred to drinking as a
disease (Hart and Ksir 2015). According to Rush, distilled spirits were toxic and suggested total
sobriety, however, he believed that beer and wine should be consumed in moderation. Many
physicians followed and supported Rushes views and in the 1800 s many people pledged not to

repealed prohibition of many of the currently illegal drugs, it would a disaster and would only
lead to more addiction by making a drug easier to obtain and cheaper, and it would only increase
the rate of drug users. The idea behind the government controlling addictive drugs is good in
theory because it would monitor and control the drug use. However, if we look at the abuse of
drugs such as Oxy Contin, many people have died from overdosing on this drug, and many of these
illegal drugs are very addicting. (Should Illegal Drugs Be Legalized? 2008). If you allowed drugs
to be legal for 18 to 21 years olds there would still have the black market for everyone under that
age and organize crime would profit just like they did during the alcohol prohibition. Several
European countries have tried to legalize some illegal drugs in the past that resulted in a higher
rate of drug addicted patients (Should Illegal Drugs Be Legalized? 2008). The bottom line is
that there is no clear solution; prohibition has its pros and cons. I just can not imagine having
such drugs like cocaine and heroin legalized especially after all the anti drug education we have
given our children and after how many lives have been lost to over dosing. The message is the

New research on consumer experiences also emphasizes the importance of embodiment. Pham et al.
(2001), for instance, state that consumer assessments are often based on both feelings and reason
and that one or the other becomes more prominent depending on the context. They argue that
feelings play a central role in consumer decision making and merit serious investigation, which, for
this study, means that intertwining mind and body is crucial for creating an unforgettable
consumer experience. The effort afoot to restore embodied realism to social scientific inquiry
(Johnson 1999; Lakoff and Johnson 1999) has generated some of the most exciting research into
consumer behavior. In this article, we address the links between embodiment and consumer
experiences in order to elucidate the contours of the aesthetic experience not just the process of
thinking bodily but how the body affects the logic of our thinking about art. With this goal in mind,
we revisit Kant s question in order to explore art museum experiences the simultaneity with which

8th Amendment Bars Cruel And Unusual Punishment
More than a hundred of Americans are wrongfully sent to death row. Hundreds of people die
innocent. Killing people for killing others is wrong in any situation. Though some people say
when murder is punished with death less people will commit crime, murdering is uncivil,
especially when the person is wrongfully accused. Killing someone for killing someone else is not
an appropriate punishment. According to the Constitution the death penalty is uncivil. The Eighth
Amendment bars cruel and unusual punishment, and that s what a lot of people say the death
penalty is. People that have family members killed aren t wanting the other person killed, just
locked up. In 2015 Dylann Roof opened fire in a church and killed nine people. Melvin Graham

Milton’s Paradise Lost Essay examples
Milton s Paradise Lost has been praised as being the greatest English epic of all time, most
stunningly in its author s depiction of the parents of humanity, Adam and Eve. How Milton chose to
portray the original mother and father has been a focus of much criticism with contemporary
readers. One of the main subjectsof these comments is in reference to Eve, who, according to
many, is a trivial character that is most definitely inferior to her mate. Nonetheless, many do not
recognize that, after the fateful Fall, she becomes a much more evolved character. When Eve is
introduced to the storyline of the epic, her character is shallow and extremely undeveloped, meant
simply for display. She is quite firmly set as being inferior to her mate... Show more content on

He does this because the scene happens in the past and therefore he uses her to discuss it rather
than confusing the reader with a flashback type scene. He also has Eve relate what happened to
prove that Eve must indeed be beautiful if she herself was taken by her looks as she discusses how
she pined with vain desire (IV, 466) for the image of her reflection. In fact, Eve s beauty is
discussed repeatedly. For example, when Satan first sees the human couple, he is overtaken by
Eve s beauty and submissive charms (IV, 498). Milton even goes so far to stress her beauty and
charms as to have her stun Satan himself with it. Actually, as Satan is on his mission to seduce Eve
into eating the apple, her beauty overtakes him.
If chance with nymphlike step fair virgin pass, What pleasing seemed, for her now pleases more,
She most, and in her looks sums all delight; Such pleasure took the Serpent to behold This
flowery plant, the sweet recess of Eve Thus early, thus alone; her heavenly form Angelic, but more
soft and feminine, Her graceful innocence, her every air Of gesture or least action, overawed His
malice, and with rapine sweet bereaved
His fierceness of the fierce intent it brought.
That space the Evil One abstracted stood From his own evil, and for the time remained
Stupidly good, of enmity disarmed, Of guile, of hate, of envy, of revenge. (IX, 452 466)

The Concept of Blood Atonement behind Judaism and...
The idea of using blood of a living creature, (typically an animal s) in order to blot out
immorality, or better known as sin, can be traced back to the roots of primal civilization.
Specifically in Judaism, the ritual started in which an animal was sacrificed in order to cover the
sins of a person or multiple people. As we presently observe the traditions of Judaismwe do not find
any sign of animal sacrifice, with an exception of orthodox Jews. While on the other hand,
Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (FLDS) will be found to zealously observe blood atonementin

One story in the Bible that might draw to the assumption that Yahweh required human sacrifice is
the account of Abraham being asked by God to sacrifice his son Isaac. God stopped Abraham,
with knife in hand, from sacrificing Isaac. Deuteronomy 12:31 further supports that Judaism
culture did not regard human sacrifice as virtuous: You must not worship the Lord your God in
their way, because in worshiping their gods, they do all kinds of detestable things the Lord hates.
They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods.
Even though animal sacrificing was a center tradition of Judaism, it ceased in the year 70 A.D.
after the Roman army had destroyed the Jewish temple in Jerusalem (Dumbrell). Deuteronomy says
thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest : But in the place which the LORD
shall choose in one of thy tribes Thus the custom of animal sacrificing could no longer continue in
the culture of Judaism. Regardless, there were other ways in

When did I ask how the end results? Anton tells if they won the game. But after the game is

The question now is if I and Anton still there, whether both of us will be beaten like in the movie
The Karate Kid? Due to the shots of the two of us which caused the match to be the hot

There are still a lot of stories about me and Anton is not told here due to the limited number of

Technology is an ever changing learning tool that requires a lot of thought and a lot of practice in
order to utilize it well. There are times when I feel like a leader and there are times when I am the
student in the field of technology. I do understand the importance of using it within my classroom,
but often I do not have the time to use it correctly or to its full potential. Oncu, Delialioglu Brown
(2008) state that while there is more technology in classrooms, there is little evidence that these
technologies are integrated into instruction (p.20). In order for technology to be effective, it must
be implemented well in order to be effective. In any case, technology is a 21st century skill and it
needs to be embraced in the educational community. Standard I: Facilitate and inspire student
learningand creativity.
At this point, I have been utilizing our new Canvas system by creating online quizzes and
discussions. The discussions promote both student reflection and collaborative knowledge among
peers. Students are able to reflect on questions posed at the beginning of the original post and
often must use textual evidence to support their claim. Once they have posted, they are required to
reply to at least one other classmate s response. I believe they engage in learning through this
online, face to face environment. Additionally, this format allows the instructor to model an
original post as well as actively respond to students posts with a reply of

Ecocriticism In The Secret Garden By Frances Hodgson Burnett
Introduction
All writers and their critics are stuck with language, and although we cast nature and culture as
opposites, in fact they constantly mingle, like water and soil in a flowing stream (Howarth 69).by
reading this quotation we indicate that nature and culture are essential in human life. In other
words, humanity and environment are one unit, each of them supplements the other. Ecocriticism
could be defined as a literary discipline which seeks to examine the intersections of culture,
literature, and ecology. It also seeks to infer the relationships among nature, the natural processes
themselves, and human conception of the natural world . This paper will regard Frances Hodgson
Burnett s novel The Secret Garden as an ecocritical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the principle of equality the state lines between human and animal are arbitrary and
irrelevant. Moreover, the principle of equality utters that everyone is entitled to equal moral
consideration, irrespective of family, race, nation or species (Garred 137). Therefore, ecocriticism
agreed with the liberationist on the subjectivity and the borders between human and non human
creatures. Hence, the assessment of the way that humans and non human cohabit in the intra textual
system is what the paper seeks to introduce.
The paper will present the role of animals within The Secret Garden. Animals characters are very
essential in the novel and this underscore the interaction between human and animal, which is a
domain in studying and reading any ecocritical text. The paper will discuss two points associated
with this

  • 2. Self Destruction In The Black Cat By Edgar Allen Poe By analyzing The Black Cat by Edgar Allen Poe, we can see that the main character in the story makes exceptionally perverse choices. The motive for his actions can be found in clues given throughout the story. We can investigate what happened to the man, and see exactly what caused him to respond in such a violent manner. To further look into the motives for the characters actions, we must inspect and evaluate whether it was self destruction that turned him mad, or an effect of outside events. The narrator acts in a way that shows us that he has self destructive tendencies. We can assume this after we see him kill his cat, and in other parts of the story. He regrets killing his cat almost instantaneously. He says, I experienced a sentiment half of horror, half of remorse, for the crime of which I had been guilty (Poe 5). He deeply regrets cutting the cats eye out. He decided to kill the cat because he was so emotionally guilty. He tells us, One night, returning home, much intoxicated, from one of my haunts about town. (Poe 5). He was drunk, and this means that alcohol played an essential part in his perverse decisions. The fact that his house burned down the night of the murder is symbolic. The night of the day that he killed Pluto, he says, The curtains of my bed were in flames. The whole house was blazing (Poe 6). His house is all of his achievements and worldly wealth, and it was burned to the ground in flames. It is a direct result of his sin of murdering the innocent cat. It could be seen as a symbol of his eternal destiny. It is a punishment for killing the cat. While alcohol is a killer, outside influences could be the main reason for the characters perverse actions. The character mentions his childhood briefly in the beginning of the story. I view the act as the climax of inner, suppressed anxieties that are contained in how the narrator goes back to when he was a young boy. His friends made fun of him for being so nice and docile. My tenderness of heart was even so conspicuous as to make me the jest of my companions (Poe 3). His friends seem to have made fun of him because he was a good person. He spent most of his time with his animals. His time he spent could have been because his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Literary Criticism Of Rusalka A masterpiece of operatic literature, AntonГn DvoЕ™ГЎk s Rusalka steadily rises to international recognition and popularity. With its lush melodies, beautiful orchestration, and poetic text, Rusalka continues to transcend the idea that it exists strictly as a Czech opera unable to be understood by foreign audiences. Though it remains the only of DvoЕ™ГЎk s operas to receive international fame (and is arguably the greatest), the romanticism and universal appeal of the story aide in securing a place for DvoЕ™ГЎk in history as not only a great orchestral composer, but also a gifted composer of opera. Rusalka tells the story of a water nymph (Rusalka) who falls passionately in lovewith a humanprince. She makes a deal with a witch to become a human herself, so that she might experience love. However, this compromise comes at a price. First, Rusalka will not be able to use her voice to communicate with humans. Second, if she fails to win the Prince s affections, she will be pulled back by the water, forever cursed to exist as a bludiДЌka, or will o the wisp, a soulless light moving erratically over the water and luring men to their deaths in the swamps. Though Rusalka is initially successful in winning the Prince s love, he grows increasingly frustrated with her inability to speak to him and is seduced by a foreign princess. Rusalka, betrayed, returns to the water to accept her fate. As Rusalka laments her fate, the witch returns with a knife to tell her she can avoid a soulless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We put our costumes on and checked the address one more time before we left the house. One of Molly s friends invited us to a party but none of us have been to the house before. So, we were taking our chances to find our way there. On our way to the party Molly took a wrong turn instead of going left she took a right. We didn t realize that she took a wrong turn until we were already driving down a dirt roadand we were out in the middle of nowhere and where there were no houses and where there was no cell phone service. So, we couldn t call and get directions to the house again. Molly was freaking out because we got lost and there was no place to turn around at. We were driving for about 5 miles and we ran out of gas and our car battery died. So, we were out walking down the dirt road trying to get cell phone service and that s when this creepy old man with this scary mask on came out of the middle of nowhere and he walked up to us and started talking to us. He said what are you three girls doing out here? • 6. `` The Price Of Success `` Vince Lombardi once said, The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand. Donald Trump successfully won the 2016 election and will have four more years to successfully carry out his term. From childhood to adulthood Trump has shown a charismatic personality, therefore, there are plenty of insights predicting his actions during his presidency. In Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs there are five stages. In order, the stages are: Physiological, Safety, Love and Belongingness, Esteem, and Self Actualization. Trump flip flops between two of the stages: Love and Belongingness, and Esteem. One of Trump s traits of the Big Five is narcissism, which in the McAdam s (2016) article, it states that people display this trait because they lack early life mirroring. This means that the parents failed to lovingly reflect on their child s budding grandiosity, in return, leaving the child desperately seeking affirmation from others throughout their lives. Love and Belongingness reflects Trump s narcissistic tendencies in this way. Trump shows the Esteem stage with his need to be the best, be successful, and prove that he can be a successful president. As president of the United States, Trump is trying to fulfill his Self Actualization need with Self Transcendence by helping others and fulfill his inner potential as president. Trump bases his actions and goals on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Compare And Contrast The Kodaly And Orff Methods Of Music... The Kodaly and Orff methods of music education have stood the test of time, popular for effectively engaging and teaching children crucial skills. While both share similarities in their approach particularly the belief that all children should receive music education the Kodaly method is better suited for teaching students in Victorian government primary schools, most of which are not resourced with musical instruments and specialist music teachers. The Kodaly approach focuses more on singing as the foundation for music skills rather than learning instruments and has a very ordered, sequential process. This makes it easier for teachers to present music concepts to students at different developmental stages. This process also allows... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Taking a Look at Hip Hop Culture Hip Hop Culture As I was growing up in the late 1970 s, it has always been common knowledge that hip hop music and its culture originated in the South Bronx section of New York City in the early 1970 s. Since this time, hip hop has become a multi cultural fusion of many different contributions made by several ethnic groups like Caucasians, Asians, blacks, and Hispanics, to name just a few. Hip hop has definitely exploded within many cultures and subcultures throughout the world and within the past decade or so; it has been getting widespread exposure. When hip hop music and the whole culture of the movement first came onto the scene, it incorporated many different art forms. These art forms include deejaying [cuttin and scratchin ], emceeing or rapping, beatboxing, breakdancing, and graffiti art. In today s society, hip hop still incorporates these different art forms, but it also includes the way you dress; the language or terminology you use; and the way you walk, act, and look. Hip hop music on a whole has always been a form of self expression depicting a person s lifestyle; their pain; their struggle; and the realities of street life. Acid rain is rain that has been made acidic by certain pollutants in the air and has low pH levels that can harm the environment. It is a type of acid deposition that can appear in many forms such as, wet deposition, which can be rain, sleet snow or fog that is more acidic than normal, and dry deposition, where gases and dust particles become acidic. Dry acid deposition though, can be inhaled by humans, which can then cause health problems. (Epa.gov) How is Acid Rain Created? When fossil fuels are burned to create electricity pollutants such as sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air. They then mix with oxygen and water in the air to form acid rain. These chemicals can travel long distances in the rain before being deposited. (Epa.gov) There are several different pollutants that can lead to acid rain such as SO2, SO3, NO2, and CO2. • 19. Human Emotion And Its Effect On Human Consciousness The purpose of life, to some degree, is to seek happiness and to seek out other people to achieve that happiness. Sigmund Freud developed this idea, which is known as the pleasure principle, claiming to explain that the human consciousness and subconsciousness revolve around this idea. If someone is isolated, then they will try to alleviate that suffering in one way or another. Human emotionis reduced to extremely simple terms, unlike what they truly are, which is extremely complex. The idea of reducing humans to such a simple understanding seems unfair, but it carries a sense of truth to it. Every person on Earth is seeking for pleasure, and it carries truth because no person appreciates the feelingof unpleasantness. Isolation is a defense method against the world to seek pleasure and to avoid unpleasant feelings in life. Freud believes that everyone attempts to get away from things that cause us pain and suffering and that everyone feels suffering as a result of society, but the way people attempt to alleviate this suffering defines us as a person. Two people could be faced with the death of a close relative, but the one who alleviates his suffering through drugs is very different from the one who alleviates his suffering through burying himself in his work. The exploration of Freud s ideas through different characters of the two stories, Sonny s Blues and Ceremony, reveal that Freud s principles regarding human nature are not the basis for all human life. • 31. Milton’s Paradise Lost Essay examples Milton s Paradise Lost has been praised as being the greatest English epic of all time, most stunningly in its author s depiction of the parents of humanity, Adam and Eve. How Milton chose to portray the original mother and father has been a focus of much criticism with contemporary readers. One of the main subjectsof these comments is in reference to Eve, who, according to many, is a trivial character that is most definitely inferior to her mate. Nonetheless, many do not recognize that, after the fateful Fall, she becomes a much more evolved character. When Eve is introduced to the storyline of the epic, her character is shallow and extremely undeveloped, meant simply for display. She is quite firmly set as being inferior to her mate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does this because the scene happens in the past and therefore he uses her to discuss it rather than confusing the reader with a flashback type scene. He also has Eve relate what happened to prove that Eve must indeed be beautiful if she herself was taken by her looks as she discusses how she pined with vain desire (IV, 466) for the image of her reflection. In fact, Eve s beauty is discussed repeatedly. For example, when Satan first sees the human couple, he is overtaken by Eve s beauty and submissive charms (IV, 498). Milton even goes so far to stress her beauty and charms as to have her stun Satan himself with it. Actually, as Satan is on his mission to seduce Eve into eating the apple, her beauty overtakes him. If chance with nymphlike step fair virgin pass, What pleasing seemed, for her now pleases more, She most, and in her looks sums all delight; Such pleasure took the Serpent to behold This flowery plant, the sweet recess of Eve Thus early, thus alone; her heavenly form Angelic, but more soft and feminine, Her graceful innocence, her every air Of gesture or least action, overawed His malice, and with rapine sweet bereaved His fierceness of the fierce intent it brought. That space the Evil One abstracted stood From his own evil, and for the time remained Stupidly good, of enmity disarmed, Of guile, of hate, of envy, of revenge. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods. Even though animal sacrificing was a center tradition of Judaism, it ceased in the year 70 A.D. after the Roman army had destroyed the Jewish temple in Jerusalem (Dumbrell).
