Women s National Press Club Rhetorical Analysis
The press is definitely not perfect. Who better to let journalists know this than a fellow journalist?
Clare Boothe Luce s introduction of her message to journalists at the Women s National Press Club
utilizes literary devices and techniques such as pronouns, hypophora, anaphora, and antithesis. Luce
looks to prepare her audience of female journalists so they respond more positively to her criticism of
the American press by giving the reason for her presence and complimenting them. Luce adopts a
conversational yet stern tone in order to help incite change in the press. Luce begins by making it clear
that the women journalists themselves invited her to speak about what is wrong with the American
press. For example, she exclaims, You asked for it! (para. 3). Luce s repeated usage of the second
person pronoun, you, places the responsibility on her journalists. The second person pronoun work to
prepare them for what she will say. If they don t like what she has to say, then they have no one to
blame but themselves. Also, Luce s repetition of me and you establishes the relationship that her and
the audience have. They are all female journalists, but Luce acts as the outside observer she is the
critic. Throughout the first three paragraphs, Luce reminds the audience that she did not volunteer for
this. In paragraph 4, Luce changes topic from reminding the journalists that she was invited to come
and speak to the meaning of journalism. A question is an excellent way to

Application Essay for School
From the first class I ever took in Finance, I was fascinated. I was drawn by the magic that intangible
things can create so much value and affect the economy so much. In combination with other business
classes I took, I had a chance to know the wide range of the business world. It was clear to me that no
other academic or career choice was possible for me.
In High School I developed an interest in computer programming and won second prize in a
competition in this subject in my home town. I also won a second prize in the China Mathematics
Competition. These successes would not have been possible without strong analytical and problem
solving skills which were further demonstrated when I undertook research about the mathematical

My experience of living in two contrasting cultures and interacting with students, teachers and
colleagues from a wide variety of cultures has been an important part of my education. I enjoy
meeting people from cultures that are unfamiliar to me, learning about them and sharing my own.
I see the program as providing me with more knowledge in the areas of statistical analysis and

The Death Of A Man
He Who Goes Unknown
It was a dark, cold morning, around two or three, when a piercing scream was heard from within a
woods. It was the scream of a man, and it would be the last sound he ever made before his very
unfortunate death. The man would never be seen again by anyone who tried to search, unless they
were smart enough to search for every tiny clue left behind. It was now six in the morning when the
sun shined through Arthur s window. His phone rang, which caused him to wake. He blindly reached
over to the table beside his bed, picking up the phone before he answered it, sitting up in his bed.
Hello?...
A shaky voice replied to his answer.
Yes, hello. I need your help, and I need it now. Someone broke into our house and ... Show more

Arthur sighed.
Could you tell me where you live? I am sure I could investigate and try to see who broke in.
Of course. I live down Maple Street. House number is 880.
I see. That should be nearby. I will arrive as soon as I can.
Thank you so much.
And with that, Arthur hung up the phone, placing it on the table once again. He made his way out of
bed, and began to get dressed as quickly as he could, and ran a brush through his hair to tame it
somewhat. His own brother, Allistair, woke due to the noise Arthur made.
Another case?...
Yes. Someone s brother went missing when a stranger broke into their house. I am going to
investigate, as usual. I am sorry, but I have no time to chit chat. I must go.
Arthur then grabbed up a briefcase, threw on a coat, and took off outside, giving his older brother no
time to ask any more questions.
I suppose I could walk there... His house should not be far if the given address was correct.
Arthur began to walk down the street, looking at the signs with street names until he found Oak Street.
He then began to look at all the different houses, looking for one with the number 880. Not much later,
he found the house, and walked up to the door, knocking on the door with his fist. No answer, He
knocked a little harder and someone finally answered.
You must be Arthur... Please, do come inside. My son is waiting for you in the living room.

Ocean Acidification And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
Unmistakable people are familiar with the probability that looks reefs to submerged rainforests. Coral

Anterior Pituitary Hormone
The thyroid gland is different; the hormones are stored in cavities, surrounded by secretory cells,
which make up a follicle. In order to secrete the hormone, the hormone is re absorbed from the cavity
and then released into the interstitial spaces.
There are two parts to the pituitary gland, the anterior pituitary and the posterior pituitary. The anterior
pituitary has two types of chromophils, acidophilus and basophils. These two are separated into
different classes of cells that have differing secretory products and aim for different organs. The
anterior pituitary discharges five different types of hormone, somatotrophs, mammotrophs,
corticotrophs, tyrotrophs, and gonadotrophs. The posterior pituitary only releases two hormones,

Marine Pollution
I make my way down the sand with the scorching sun shining bright in my face, trying to reach to the
cooling ocean as fast as I can. I feel the ocean s continuous movement of the currents shifting back
and forth, making me think about how the ocean currents create the rubbish patches, gathering bits of
plastic on the way. I wonder if people think about the consequences of littering before doing it and the
harm that it has on the sea life?
Over the last few decades human activities have become a danger to marine life, through marine
pollution. According to WWF.panda.org over 80% of marine pollution comes from land based
activities, such as oil, fertilisers, general rubbish, sewage disposal, and toxic chemicals. As someone
who cares about ocean and its sea life these statistics always saddens me to think that humans are the
main cause of their harm. Just this weekend there has been an article in the newspaper about a whale s
stomach that was full of around 30 plastic bags. The whale was then put down in Norway after they
failed to rescue it. What we need to realise as people is that even though the ocean may seem big
enough to hold a lot of pollution it s actually having an enormous effect on the marine life and could
also start having more of an effect on us through diseases, transferred when eating contaminated fish
that may have consumed the toxic substances. The newspaper article on the whale sadly didn t even
seem to surprise me anymore, I have seen many similar

Media And Journalism Ethics By Bill Kovach And Tom Rosensteil
Serving the public s interest has always been an objective for the media. The ethic codes emphasize
that journalists serve the public and that that they are dedicated to truth and fairness. (Foreman 2010
P.25) This has been adopted by journalism organizations within this nation.
Distasteful content is an ethical dilemma for the press, it is a difficult issue what is acceptable to one
person may not be acceptable to another. As well as this newspapers and commercial television are
under a great amount of pressure to deliver quality news that stands out from their competitors, this
can have an impact on the material that they decide to use.
Journalists, Bill Kovach and Tom Rosensteil s were guided by these beliefs and formed a definition of
journalisms primary purpose which is to provide citizens with the information they need to be free and
self governing. (Foreman 2010 p.25)
In his book Media and Journalism Ethics S.P. Phadke has stated that journalists are the formulators
and disseminators of news they have a great responsibility both morally and pragmatically. As it is
through them that citizen s view the world, and they set the agenda for social concern and debate.
(Phadke 2008)
In their book The Elements of Journalism Kovach and Rosensteil highlight this point The news media
help us to define our communities and help us create a common language and common knowledge
rooted in reality. Journalism also helps identify a community s goals, heroes and villains.

There s an art to swinging a maul, to splitting the wood just right. I came to love that satisfying thunk!
You must put your entire body, every muscle into it.
Chopping wood s excellent for muscle building. First, grab a round or partial round of seasoned wood.
If the wood s green, leave it a few months. The fur people had an immense stack of wood from trees
they d felled, sitting in the sun to that precise purpose. Had, as in past tense, we soon worked through

Trees are felled, cut into rounds, slices 18 inches long and left in the sun to dry. When they become

Other tasks of the stone age household also constitute quality exercise. Carrying water s a useful

Teena added rope climbing to the training. I d climbed ropes in the service, although the service

Juvenile Crime And Juvenile Delinquency
Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6
New International Version).
Juvenile crime, in law, term denoting various offense committed by children or youth under the age of
18. U.S. official crime reported that in the mid 1900 s about one fifth of all persons arrested for crimes
were under the age of 18 (Funk Wagnalls, 2014). Such acts are sometimes referred to as juvenile
delinquency (Funk Wagnalls, 2014. Offering constructive programs reduces juvenile delinquency and
reduces recidivism. From the beginning, the principal consideration of the juvenile courts was the
welfare of the child (Silva, 2014). When discussing whether the juvenile justice system works to
rehabilitate young offenders, we must examine what options are available. Funk Wagnalls (2014),
state that Programs such as a child guidance clinics, juvenile aid bureaus attached to police department
or other official agencies, special programs in schools are all effective ways of deterring youth
offenders and keeping them out of correctional facilities. Other forms of rehabilitation are military

Before we label a child as a delinquent we must first determine the cause of the delinquency. The
question to be answered is, what causes delinquency? If you were to conduct a blind study and asked
this question, you would get many different reasons. Perhaps Bad parenting, genetics, peer pressure,
bad self esteem, and society are all answers. Funk

Emily Dickinson Influences
Although Emily Dickinson was a complete recluse and was not recognized in her own time, she is
now recognized as one of the most influential poets in American Literature. Emily s work has left a
strong mark on today s writers. Dickinson began writing as a teenager with influences of her own.
Leonard Humphrey, principal of Amherst Academy, and a family friend named Benjamin Franklin
Newton, who sent Dickinson a book of poetry by Ralph Waldo Emerson, impacted and encouraged
her private works (Emily Dickinson Biography). While Emily s work was brilliant, very little of
Dickinson s work was published in her lifetime, nor was it heavily publicized at the time of her death

While Emily s poetry often hinted at an unknown lover, her preserved letters give a sombre reflection.
Until Dickinson was in her mid 20s, her writing mostly took the form of letters. These letters she sent
out consist of a surprising number of those that she wrote from age 11 onward that have now been
preserved. She often sent to her brother, Austin, or to her own female friends, including Abiah Root,
Jane Humphrey, and Susan Gilbert. Susan would later marry Emily s elder brother, Austin. These
honorable communications overflow with humour, story telling, intellectual interest, and dark
reflection. Throughout her letters, one could infer that Emily Dickinson had given and demanded more
from her correspondents than she had received. She frequently construed that her correspondents lack
of response as confirmation of abandonment or even disloyalty. Nonetheless, the loss of friends,
whether through death or declining interest, became an underlying commodity for Dickinson. Much of
Emily s writing, both poetic and the form of letters, seems premised on a feeling of abandonment and
a matching attempt to oppose, overcome, or reflect on a sense of loneliness. There are very few letters
that remain today. Emily had previously asked that her

Should Father s Receive Paid Paternity Leave
In this day in age we find ourselves wondering if is feasible for men to get paid paternity leave, since
women get paid maternity leave after they have their baby. You have to really think about this though,
because not all companies pay women to take maternity leave. So why would we pay our men to take

Having the father home will help with daycare cost when the mother goes back to work. There are
some potential downsides to men having paid paternity leave. Most countries make parental leave
open to both men and women; women take the vast majority of leave. When leave is long, this can
have some consequences for women s place in the labor market. For example, in Sweden parents have
the right to a parental leave for up to 18 months, but women take nearly 85% of parental leave. The
major goal of Swedish policy these days is to encourage men to take more parental leave; already
there are two month daddy only leaves, which are lost to the couple if the father doesn t take them.
The problem with fathers taking paternity leave is that the fathers are scared to take leave for the fear
that they may lose their jobs. Companies should offer paternity leave for expectant fathers. By
offering paternity leave for fathers to be companies allow fathers to be a benefit of paid or unpaid time
off work to care for their child, make arrangements for the child s welfare, and preparation for the
adoption of a child. Generally, offering paternity leave for fathers allows them to benefit the birth of a
child. Companies that provide the option of paternity leave grant these fathers the privilege of being
present for labor, delivery, and any other emergency procedures that may be necessary. Paternity leave
provides the father with an advantage to be able to care for their

Banishment Censorship of Twains Huckleberry Finn Banishment?
The novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain, has received much criticism through
the years. Yet Ernest Hemingway, among other great American writers, considers this work a great
American classic. This novel addresses many social issues in the South before the Civil War, causing
some critics to find it racist or degrading to the African American culture. For this reason, these critics
often attempt to ban Huckleberry Finn, or at least censor it, taking it out of the teaching curriculum for
junior high and high school students. Analyzing Twain s major themes his satire of racism, the cruelty

At times the reader can miss the message and take the vulgar and demeaning passage offensively,
explaining the desire of some people to keep it away from their children. This action may have some
benefit for some younger students, but that should not give the allowance to completely ban the book.
In the eleventh grade, students receive the requirement to read Huckleberry Finn. By this time, they
have matured enough to handle the mature nature of this book and have the ability to read it
objectively. Also, in high school, teachers focus more on theme and interpretation of writing instead of
focusing on just the plot. This allows the teachers to explain the satire in Twain s writing, and helps
the students understand the meaning of the vulgarity in the characters.
In Twain s novel, Miss Watson, Huck Finn s caretaker, owns Jim. She discovers that selling Jim could
put $800 in her pocket, making her think of Jim merely as property. Booker T. Washington when

WRTG 101 Reflective Essay
Before taking WRTG 101, I had no formal instruction in formal writing. My only writing experience
came from high school and the Military. In high school, I would write reports on different subjects
such as art or history; however, these were not college level writing assignments. There was no
specific format, such as APA or MLA, to follow. The Military has its own unique way of writing that
is not quite like any other writing. Much of Military writing is in the form of email, which is not very
formal. It tends to utilize abbreviations and lingo that most people outside of the Military would not
understand. However, a small portion of Military writing is formal. For this type of writing, there is a
correspondence manual to follow; this manual is very exact as to wording and format of letters and
papers. However, this type of writing in the Military is not very common, especially among the lower
ranks. WRTG 101 has given me the skills, such as researching topics and writing in certain formats, as
well as the knowledge, such as how to find information to help with citations and references,
necessary to write effectively at a college level. One of the skills required to write effectively at a
college level is knowing how to research the subject thoroughly. I had the most trouble with the cause

Essay about Why we dropped the Atomic Bomb
Why we dropped the Atomic Bomb The dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in
August of 1945 was a definite turning point in the Pacific War of World War II. Earlier that year,
Germany had been defeated and the world then turned its attention to the Pacific war. Most history
books state the argument that the dropping of the atomic bombs on Japan was necessary to stop the
war in order to save thousands of lives of American troops that were planning to invade Japan. Had
the bombs not been employed (so the wisdom goes), an enormous number of American troops would

The B 29 firebombings on Tokyo and the effective blockade of supplies for Japan by the American
submarines weakened the Japanese empire. Meanwhile, the Americans troops and back home were fed
the idea that the Japanese would never surrender and the war would go on forever. But in fact, the
Japanese had sent peace feelers to the West as early as 1942, only six months after the December 1941
attack on Pearl Harbor. More would come in a flood long before the fateful use of the atomic bombs.
(McManus 1)
Even before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the Japanese were divided into two groups.
The peace party included the Emperor Hirohito and officers in the navy. The war party , headed by
Army leader Tojo, included fanatical military members, believed that Japan s empire should cover all
the islands of the pacific and were responsible for the attack on the navy base in Pearl Harbor.

On different ocassions, the Japanese hinted their interest in peace negotiations through different
channels. They contacted the British after the the Battle of Midway with a message from the Japanese
foreign minister Togo. The message said that the Japanese was ready to be helpful if the

Tablo And Joey Badass Hood Music Analysis
The climb to the top is sometimes more rewarding than the prizes at the top. The song Hood was
created in 2015 by Tablo and Joey Badass. Tablo and Joey Badass are from opposite sides of the world
and they also rap from opposite point of views. Tablo uses the narrative techniques to reference the
Korean philosophy Han in order to give the audience an idea of what motivates his character to keep
working hard. Badass uses narrative techniques when speaking about money because money equates
to success for many people and he wants to eliminate the idea that money destroys all evil. The tempo
at which each of the rappers raps symbolizes the positivity and the negativity of their respective topics
and the mood in which their character are in. The song highly motivates it listeners to reach their
greatest potential but also reminds them the journey to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to find a common ground, Tablo and Joey Badass use the bridge and the hook. In the bridge,
the two cultures come together when Badass and Tablo go back and forth with their lines as if you are
watching both perspectives at once. Tablo s Korean lines about the hardships and the struggle he is
facing as he tries to become successful in lines 58 and 60 compliment Joey Badass s repeating Good
lord help me because even though Joey Badass s character is speaking about his own life and how
fame is not that great, his lines are still relatable to Tablo s character considering all Tablo s character
wants is to be successful. Within the hook, Joey Badass calls out the lower class and his haters in the
line Middle fingers to you lames, you broke ass niggas you can t relate which can be interpret as a shot

Analysis Of Drinkaware
Charities run campaigns to try to prevent young people in participating in risk taking behaviours. One
charity that focuses on reducing alcohol related harm in general is Drinkaware. Drinkaware is a
charity that was created with the objective to change the public attitude towards alcohol, and
encourage them to reduce their intake and reduce alcohol related harm (Memorandum of
Understanding between Portman Group et al, 2006). One focus of this charity is to work with the
government on education campaigns (McCambridge et al, 2014), as well as having a website that
young people can look at for advice and facts about risk taking behaviour. This appeals to young
people, and may reduce risk taking behaviour in young people aged 14 18, as media based ... Show

The NSPCC have published a Provision for young people who have displayed harmful sexual
behaviour (Smith et al, 2013). This provision looks at how local authorities help young people who
have been reported for harmful sexual behaviour. Although harmful sexual behaviour has not been
defined, the interpretation is that the provision is based on young people who need help after causing
harm through sexual behaviour, for example, sexual abuse. It was found that the procedures and
guidelines that support good practice in cases like this do not offer explicit intervention and prevention
techniques, which may cause future issues to occur, such as reoffending. As well as this, the NSPCC
(2016) have released an advice webpage for parents to understand what is normal sexual behaviour for
the ages of 14 16, and what to do if they are worried about certain behaviour. The NSPCC advice page
reassures parents that it is normal for young people aged 14 16 to start exploring their sexual
behaviour privately, as they are going through or have been through puberty. If they seem to have
forceful or aggressive sexual behaviour, this may be a warning sign. If parents are worried, they are
told to speak to their child to try to understand why they are acting this way, or speak to a health
professional for advice. It is also advised that at this age, young people may come across porn online.
However, this may cause distress (NSPCC, 2015). Also, it was found that watching online porn
changed the way 28% of surveyed 11 18 year olds viewed relationships (The Telegraph, 2013). This
suggests that young people may be influenced by what they see online. This is important as the
NSPCC advise parents to keep an eye on their teenagers behaviour, and if they are worried, to seek

The Movie Franchise Star Wars
The movie franchise star wars has been around for over fifty years. It s a classic drama series about
dark and light forces trying to get the best of one another. The Jedi and the Sith are both factions
which use the essences of the universe in order to obtain their special abilities that they use to their
advantage. The force is split between the Jedi who represent the light force, and the Sith who represent
the dark force. So which of the two, light or dark, is the better as seen in the star wars storylines. The
Jedi seem to have the upper hand and here are some reasons why. The Jedi and Sith both use
Lightsabers(Short swords made with laser energy) when fighting enemies or dueling with one another.
They give them both huge advantages in battle, because they can use the force to detect where things
will be before they happen. When they are attacked with a blaster or lightsaber, the laser it is deflected
off of the blade. This also makes for some really spectacular duels between the two.
So which of the two has the better lightsaber? Lightsabers are formed from special crystals which the
Jedi or Sith have to meditate on for weeks on end until it can form a blade. The Sith made the their
sabers with synthetic crystals that they had to put into a furnace whereas the Jedi used a special natural
growing crystal found on Dantooine, Ilum, or the Adega System. When the blades are finally
constructed, they have a certain color which corresponds to their personality. The Sith

A Research Study On Periodontitis Is Recognised As...
Periodontitis is recognised as chronic, low grade, inflammatory and pathogenic infection, which
continuously changes at a systemic level (Reddy, Phulambriker, Wanjari, Srivastava, 2012). Persistent
inflammatory infection as a result of Gram negative anaerobic bacteria lead to the destruction of bone
and other tooth supporting structures; an outcome of periodontitis is periodontal pockets (Usin et al.,
2014). This fact enables bacteria and their by products to spread to areas indirectly through the body s
immune inflammatory response (Usin et al., 2014), thus creating potential damages to other systems
and organs.
It has been investigated that oral infections, such as periodontitis may increase the risk of low birth
weight (LBW) (Abati et al., 2013). Offenbacher et al., (1996) pioneering study suggested a significant
correlation between periodontitis and premature and/or low birth weight infants, and further studies
have identified the potential connection. However, the topic has remained controversial since
publication, with additional studies failing to find any positive associations (Abati et al., 2013).
Depending on the geographical location periodontal disease has been observed in 10 60% of the
population and been associated with osteoporosis, foetal restriction, diabetes, respiratory and
cardiovascular diseases, preeclampsia, preterm low birth weight and low birth weight (Usin et al.,
2014). By definition the World Health Organization (WHO) has defined LBW as below

Nasa s Space Exploration
When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not describe it
fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth exists and is made up
of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has turned into so much more;
with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which there is a possibility that other
life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said to only be able to send drones or
robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of humans is closely becoming a fact.
These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries like the fact that life was once present
on Mars. However some among humanity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows the
belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life outside of
Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another argument is
that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way. According to
Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of money, time and effort
that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet. (9) This argument is
understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests depleting is occurring provides
more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would allow for a rebirth and have the
world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by humanity s daily lives. A third argument is
that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet so it makes no sense to explore outside of it.
According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of our species powerfully suggests that progress will
come from continued stable life on Earth, and that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to
a new period of human stagnation. (11) This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered,
but Westfahl fails to acknowledge that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our
universe and our planet. This allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to

Though understanding the root causes of a problem and proper management of victims and affected
persons are both important determinants in a global campaign s success, one of the most influential
factor lies with the reaction of the global community and foreign policy. In order to effect change, the
issues raised by the campaign must resonate with the international community, especially with people

field of research on the issue have dramatically increased since 2000, due to an increased amount of

T.J.X. was the leading fashionable brand name, off price product retailer in the U.S. In 2013 the
company s net sales reached $27 billion, increased by 6% compared to the same period in 2012. In
2007, the company was revealed by the investigating authorities that their database had been

In 2005, the discussion of upgrading the wireless system to the standard WAP was raised in the

Since the hackers had access to the main database, they were able to modify and delete log files and to

Bar Codes
How Much Do Your Mistakes Cost?
Brittney Roper, R.N.
Southwestern Oklahoma State University
Introduction
Proper patient identification in hospitals has been an issue for many years, especially when it comes to
blood specimen collection. Laboratory specimens being mislabeled are a everyday cause of harm to
patients including repeat diagnostic procedures; repeat phlebotomy; delays in necessary surgical
procedures; a performing unnecessary surgical procedures (Dunn and Moga, 2010). This is not only
costly, but it is very stressing to patients and medical staff. The biggest concern is the possibility of
making a fatal error when it comes to specimen collection. Without proper patient identification this
risk increases substantially. Wallin, Sodberg, Van Guelpen, Stenlund, Grankvist, and Brulin (2009)
state that critical errors in patient identification for blood testing occurs in up to one per 1000
specimens or procedures and misidentified specimens cause 160,000 adverse events every year in
America.
Bar coding has been introduced into many hospitals in the last several years. Using bar codes on
patients ID bracelets and labels for specimens has been the normal practice for Saint Francis Hospital
for some time. However, the labels aren t used as well as they should be to prevent errors in patient
care. According to Wickham, Miedema, Gamerdinger, and DeGooyer (2006), implementing the use of
bar codes for patient identification will prevent

More Than Just A Place Essay
More Than Just A Place
It takes some people a long time to get there and others no time at all. It is a place where a person
should feel relaxed and comfortable, in harmony with their environment. It is a place of refuge and its
doors should always be open. It can be where you go to after a long day of work or what you land on
to win the game for your team. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines it as one s place of residence,
the social unit formed by a family living together, or a goal to be achieved (356). This wonderful, yet
sometimes hard to find, place is called home.

She feels safe and comfortable.
We have our mail delivered to this place, and everything else we order. People know us sometimes by
where we live or where our home is. For example, if a person was to have a large, extravagant home
in a very nice neighborhood and we knew nothing else, except their house, we would probable assume
these people had a lot of money. We make our homes like ourselves, they are very different, from the
artwork to the architecture, they say a lot about our personalities. When you walk into someone s
home, a lot comes out. Not being able to find any dust on the counter tops may lead one to believe that
this person likes to clean or that they have a weekly maid come in and straighten things. Finding a
recycling bin in the garage, it is obvious that theses people are conscientious of the environment.
These are only a few examples of how our personalities are brought out in our homes.
The home can be defined as the social unit formed by a family living together. So the home is not a
place, or is it? It has been said that the home is where the heart is , but where is your heart? The home
is also, perhaps, where your family is. A man who has a family does not feel at home when away from
them. This is not only because his heart is with his family, but because he is somewhere

Stopping Science Strictures Science is one of man s most powerful tools in interpreting his status in
the universe; however, with this great power comes great responsibility, and therefore, there must be
reasonable expectations and restrictions, but does that mean that restrictions need to be placed to limit
the pursuit of science? Or rather, does society need restrictions to limit how science is to be used?
Literature and historical events both point to the single truth that society, not science, must be
checked. In the dystopian novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, the reader follows main
character Bernard Marx through the workings of a new society something many ... Show more content

In the novel, the reader follows Winston Smith, an Outer Party member and a worker of the Ministry
of Truth, where he alters and forges the past on a daily basis. Through his point of view, the reader
navigates through the tyranny of Big Brother and the dilapidating society around him which is
constantly at war with the two other nations in the world. The world as Winston knows it is controlled
by four institutions: The Ministry of Love (which tortures people), The Ministry of Truth (which
changes the past), The Ministry of Peace (which funds/supports the war), and The Ministry of Plenty
(which is continually imposing ration systems). In Winston s world, literature has been destroyed,
most old artifacts have been seized, emotion has been squelched and abandoned, and language is
shortened through a new language, Newspeak. In charge of all this is Big Brother, a figurehead who
everyone is brainwashed into admiring. And just like Brave New World, many readers analyze and
infer from 1984 that science has caused these problems, and that discoveries in computer science may
cause the stone that past was written on to melt away. However, once again, science is only able to
generate knowledge; what society chooses to do with the information must be monitored and limited
by society itself. In 1984, society should have limited the alterations of history and usage of weapons
in order to prevent such a disastrous dystopia from ever occurring

AIALS Case Study
As early as the 1980s, schools were using AIALS as learning tools in the classroom, albeit on a much
smaller scale. An artificially intelligent assessment learning system designed for success is user
centered and addresses user relevant issues at all stages in whatever form is appropriate (Dillon, 1994,
p. 19). Hung et al. (2015) supported this phenomenon by indicating that when a system is well
designed, its users can navigate it easily, use its features and tools efficiently and respond
appropriately to the demands of the systems. Hence, a well designed AIALS is aligned accordingly
with usability principles, and with features and tools to enhance learning performance for users.
Generally, AIALS consists of four modules: an interface ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These dimensions are considered the fundamental user requirements for defining the functionalities of
a good user interface, hence according to the ISO 9241 210 standard, usability is the measurement of
how a product is used to accomplish specific tasks with effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction
within a prescribed environment (Kaasinen et al., 2015). According to Chughtai et al. (2015) usability
takes into account the ease of use and learnability a system, including simple navigation for average
users. Nielsen (1994) posited that usability is a significant factor of interface design in order to ensure
a user friendly system, Kodavali and Blessing (2011) also suggested that usability is an important
factor when designing intelligent learning systems. Similarly, recent studies on usability testing of an
AIALS revealed that there is a direct positive relationship between usability and learning effectiveness
(Lin et al., 2014). Consequently, without a good user interface design, the goal/s of the system may
not be realized. The integration of usability principles in the design and development of AIALS is
important, involving a user centered focus approach to increase the overall effectiveness of learning
systems (Hung et al., 2015).

6 1 Data Model Assignment: DAT 500 15TW1 The rental car company is laying the foundation for
building a relational database and is already deep within the design phase of the SDLC. Developing
enterprise data models will ensure the business requirements are being met and in the long run, spell
success for the enterprise. The two entity relationship diagrams the rental car company has established
are 1) a Conceptual data model and 2) a Logical data model. Using the process of building these
foundational models, the rental car company can then move on to the physical model and complete the
database. The first data model, the conceptual model, is basically the skeleton or the foundational
framing for how the rental car company can develop the concepts (also known as entities) that are
most important to the organization. Within the conceptual model, there are a limited number of
components. In this current stage of the development there are only entities and relationships,
descriptive characteristics (or attributes) come later. Here the focus is on entities and the organization
can narrow down what takes top priority. Those four concepts mentioned in the model are at the
foundation and a requirement for tracking the profitability and efficiency of the branch and its
employees. Branch, Sales, Vehicle and Employees are prime examples of entities and one can easily

Henry Hudson and Samuel de Champlain were two great explorers. Both were born around 1570 and
were sons of sea captains . However, even though they both have similarities from how they were
brought up, their voyages were very different from one another. Even the types of explorers they were

know is that he was married to a woman named Katherine and they had three sons together. Also, it is

Henry Hudson wanted to do the job that he was hired to do and make sure that he found what he was
supposed to be looking for. Although Hudson was not capable of making his dreams a reality, without
him, New York City may not have been founded for who knows how much longer. Also, due to his
discovery of the Hudson Bay, Hudson is considered to be someone crucial to the founding of Canada.
Actually, when Hudson discovered the Hudson Bay he believed it to be a passage into the Pacific.
This is because the Hudson is large enough to create tidal waves. Even though some people think that
Hudson is a failure, because he never found a faster water route to Asia, he was seen as a very
respectable and smart navigator. His ships always made it back safe to the people that invested in his
voyages and now there are more bodies of water named after him than any other person to have ever
lived . Samuel de Champlain was born in 1570 and was a French explorer. One way in which
Champlain differs from Henry Hudson is that Hudson was born in England and Champlain was born
in France. Champlain is believed to have been born a protestant but when he got older he converted to
Catholicism. Similar to Hudson, not much is known about his earliest years. Champlain used to travel
with his Uncle to places such as Spain and the West Indies; these were some of the first voyages that
he ever made. Also, during the time period of 1601 1603,

Complexity In Sitcoms
Historically, sitcom has been used to display an aspiration lifestyle, as stipulated by dominant norms
(Brown 1990:18). However, UKS creates narrative complexity by depicting multiple social issues and
conflict, which are brought together by the protagonists friendships. This includes landlady Lilian s
struggles to resist gentrification in season three, Titus continual search for employment, and all the
characters ongoing negotiation of romantic relationships. The humour derived from these overly
familiar topics offers critique on the complexity of contemporary tensions in a society of employment
instability, fast change, and insecure transient neighbourhoods under capitalism (Wickham 2013:33).
The depiction in UKS of friendship reflects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the ongoing joke that the New York basement flat Kimmy and Titus Andromedon share
is actually a Tugboat. The humour created by this is simultaneously simplistic and complex. The
repetition of this joke through all three series of UKS can be used to argue that sitcom is simplistic
because the issue never develops. However, the humour relates to real life issues of housing and rent
in desirable locations under advanced capitalism. Furthermore the humour is derived from landlady
Lilian Kaushtupper s criminal past, demonstrating how the dramatic and comedic outcome within any
sitcom must be the inevitable outcome of those characters within that scenario at that particular time,
as well as being understood by viewers as relating to society beyond the sitcom. Consequently, this
joke simplifies a complex issues without explanation. Yet it is also complex because the humour
functions through multiple levels. Therefore, indicating a complexity derived from the social and
cultural context of the programme. Furthermore, UKS may date and this joke may no longer be
deemed funny in ten or twenty years. This demonstrates how sitcom complexity relates to the
concerns of society at the time the specific programme is created (Morreale 2003:

Conservative And Liberal Argumentative Analysis
America s greatest battle ever fought is an ongoing clash between conservatives and liberals.
Conservatives and liberals is arguably the greatest rivalry in American history for the simple fact that
is has been going on since the beginning of politics. Naturally some people want to make changes to
progress and move forward toward greater and bigger things, while some tend to to stick closer to the
way thing are at that time because they benefit from it or are scared of changes. All the conflicting
topics between conservatives and liberals can be placed in either the structure of the society, the role
of the government or the progress of the nation. Liberals see the need to adjust to a new way of living

When it comes to the structure of society, liberals tend to be more open to equal opportunities and
equality and, like to have society more in control of decisions that directly affect them. For example,
according to Giulia Squadrin in her essay Difference Between Conservatives and Liberals , liberals
strongly believe in freedom of choice with the belief that Women have the right to decide what
happens to their own body. To liberals this belief that people have the right to there own body should
not be alarming and is a given. Liberals believe people are not properties and need to be allowed to
make his or her own choices. On the other hand, conservatives believe that the right to abortion is not
for women to have. Conservatives believe abortion is murder and a serious sin because they are very
stuck to their religious views. Also, when it comes to Euthanasia, the act ending a life to stop further
suffering, liberals have the same viewpoint that they do for abortion, to let the person decide what is
best for his or her self. While conservatives see Euthanasia as illegal and unethical for a doctor to

Essay Hindu Belief of Samsara
Hindu Belief of Samsara
(6)The Hindu belief in samsara, the cycle of life, death, and rebirth includes reincarnation into forms
other than human. It is believed that someone could live many lifetimes before they become a man.
Each species is in this process of samsara until one achieves moksha, union with god Brahma. The
Hindu religious goal of moksha is not salvation, and does not need forgiveness, but detachment from
the material world. Though some people might argue that such a goal with these aspects rejects the
natural world as having value, the Hindu goal is to liberate one from the self, from the illusion of the
material world as being separate and individual.

Karma is an important thing when trying to achieve Moksha, it will tell you what you have done as
bad things you do in your life will lead to bad Karma, and so you may be something lower than you
are now, e.g. A human could have a bad life and get Bad karma, and therefore cannot move up to
achieve Moksha, yet moves down to become a Dog for instance. And so if you live a bad life from
childhood some Hindus may think that Moksha is just a worthless goal as they may never be able to
achieve. Yet Hindus who may lead life s as Holmen are very likely to have good karma and are
therefore more likely to interpret Moksha in a different way, as they have good karma they will have a
more positive outlook on obtaining Moksha.

How Milling Is A Vital Process For Minimizing The Machined...
Milling is a vital process used in the industry to make and assembling the components. The extensive
and expensive experimental work is necessary to determine the optimal of machining process
parameters for obtaining the desired machined quality. In this regard, the present work is focused on
the relationship between the input process parameters and machined surface integrity for minimizing
the machined damage. Moreover, the paper presents the comparative analysis and performance of two
different mill tools such as a specially designed carbide tipped tool and a solid carbide tool.
Subsequently, comparing the evaluation of two tools was illustrated by plotting origin graphs. Finally,
experimental results were thoroughly analyzed by Scanning electron microscope (SEM) to investigate
the cutting characteristics of machined laminates.
Keywords: compression moulding technique, cutting process parameters, End milling tools, GFRP
composite laminates, SEM.
Introduction
FRP composites having superior material properties when compared with metals, improved corrosion
resistance, fatigue resistance, less weight to strength ratio and high fracture toughness. Hence GFRP
composites frequently used in several applications like sports goods, racing car bodies and aerospace
components [1]. Often composite products manufactured by near net shapes. The components made
by secondary machining processes are involving to get good dimensional accuracy and geometrical
shapes done by turning, drilling

If I Were A Triffid Analysis
Literature Circle
If I was a Triffid, I would do many things that the Triffids did not do in the pages we read. The things I
would do if I was a Triffid is kill all the humans. I would also gather up other Triffids and form a large
group with other Triffids and I would also invade all the buildings in the area. To start, if I was a
Triffid, I would kill all the humans in the world.
If I was a Triffid, I would try to kill as much as humans as I possibly could in order to stay alive. The
reason I would try to kill all the Triffids is because humans can make and have very deadly weapons
such as shotguns, nuclear bombs, machine guns, missiles and more. So if I tried to kill all the humans
,blind and not blind, there would be a result of no dangerous threat to Triffids and I, so we could roam
around freely. Also, because Triffids are carnivorous and I am a Triffid, I could only survive by eating
meat and flesh, and there is about seven billion humans so humans could be a superior source of food.
The last reason I would kill all the humans because if all the humans were gone, Triffids could be the
leaders of the land and rule everything, so Triffids would be respected by other creatures. ... Show

The reason I would do that is so the humans would not have anything to collect from the store and
would eventually die which would be easier than killing humans. Not only if we invade all the store
just to kill humans but to use the equipment for ourselves like canned meat and things like that. Also,
invading all the buildings means we could use it for shelter, like a house. In summation this is why I
would invade all the buildings.
In conclusion, this is what I would do many things that the Triffids did not do in the pages we read.
The things I would do if I was a Triffid is kill all the humans, gather up other Triffids and form a large
group with other Triffids and I would also invade all the buildings in the

The Importance Of Flexibility In The Lens
. Why is it important for the lens in the vitreous humor to maintain flexibility? When does the
flexibility start to reduce and what is the result of the inflexibility? The interior chamber of the eyeball
consist of the vitreous humor which is a transparent, jelly like structure, located behind the lens. The
vitreous humor aids in upholding the structure of the eyeball and acts as a support for the lens
ensuring that it does not get damaged due to its delicacy (BiologyMad, 2015). The lens is a transparent
structure that is composed of flexible tissues which plays a critical role in maintaining flexibility
(Than, 2016). The flexibility and the elasticity of the lens are crucial as it allows the lens to change the
curved structure of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the flexible tissues (muscles) contract, the lens also contracts causing the lens to thicken. The
inflexibility allows the eye to be able to see closer objects more clearly (Than, 2016). When the
flexible tissues (muscles) relax, the lens pulls away and flattens, increasing the flexibility in the lens.
This allows the eye to be able to see objects from a distance (Than, 2016). The ciliary muscles play an
important role in aiding the flexibility of the lens. The study of the eye and its parts has led to much
medical advancement in ophthalmology. Describe a condition/disease/disorder that affects the eye and
how the structures in the eyes are affected by the condition/disease/disorder. What course of action is
taken to relieve the problem and how are the structures and functions compensated for? Corneal ulcer
is an open sore or an epithelial defect that causes inflammation to the cornea (Dahl, 2016). The cornea
is a thin transparent lens found on the eye allowing light rays to come into and be focused by the eye
(Dahl, 2016). Corneal ulcers often appears light grey in color on the transparent cornea (Dahl, 2016).
This grey colour may at times be hard to see in one s eye and requires to be magnified to be diagnosed

responsibility to take effective measures for preserving lives of the people and ensuring independence
of the society. In this context, the Senate, the House of Representatives, and President Bush pledged to
respond within boundaries set by the Constitution confronting and preventing terrorist attacks.
Through Patriot Act, the law enforcement agencies of the Untied States are given the most effective

  • 2. Women s National Press Club Rhetorical Analysis The press is definitely not perfect. Who better to let journalists know this than a fellow journalist? Clare Boothe Luce s introduction of her message to journalists at the Women s National Press Club utilizes literary devices and techniques such as pronouns, hypophora, anaphora, and antithesis. Luce looks to prepare her audience of female journalists so they respond more positively to her criticism of the American press by giving the reason for her presence and complimenting them. Luce adopts a conversational yet stern tone in order to help incite change in the press. Luce begins by making it clear that the women journalists themselves invited her to speak about what is wrong with the American press. For example, she exclaims, You asked for it! (para. 3). Luce s repeated usage of the second person pronoun, you, places the responsibility on her journalists. The second person pronoun work to prepare them for what she will say. If they don t like what she has to say, then they have no one to blame but themselves. Also, Luce s repetition of me and you establishes the relationship that her and the audience have. They are all female journalists, but Luce acts as the outside observer she is the critic. Throughout the first three paragraphs, Luce reminds the audience that she did not volunteer for this. In paragraph 4, Luce changes topic from reminding the journalists that she was invited to come and speak to the meaning of journalism. A question is an excellent way to ... I feel the ocean s continuous movement of the currents shifting back and forth, making me think about how the ocean currents create the rubbish patches, gathering bits of plastic on the way. I wonder if people think about the consequences of littering before doing it and the harm that it has on the sea life? Over the last few decades human activities have become a danger to marine life, through marine pollution. According to WWF.panda.org over 80% of marine pollution comes from land based activities, such as oil, fertilisers, general rubbish, sewage disposal, and toxic chemicals. As someone who cares about ocean and its sea life these statistics always saddens me to think that humans are the main cause of their harm. Just this weekend there has been an article in the newspaper about a whale s stomach that was full of around 30 plastic bags. The whale was then put down in Norway after they failed to rescue it. What we need to realise as people is that even though the ocean may seem big enough to hold a lot of pollution it s actually having an enormous effect on the marine life and could also start having more of an effect on us through diseases, transferred when eating contaminated fish that may have consumed the toxic substances. One charity that focuses on reducing alcohol related harm in general is Drinkaware. Drinkaware is a charity that was created with the objective to change the public attitude towards alcohol, and encourage them to reduce their intake and reduce alcohol related harm (Memorandum of Understanding between Portman Group et al, 2006). One focus of this charity is to work with the government on education campaigns (McCambridge et al, 2014), as well as having a website that young people can look at for advice and facts about risk taking behaviour. The NSPCC have published a Provision for young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour (Smith et al, 2013). This provision looks at how local authorities help young people who have been reported for harmful sexual behaviour. Although harmful sexual behaviour has not been defined, the interpretation is that the provision is based on young people who need help after causing harm through sexual behaviour, for example, sexual abuse. It was found that the procedures and guidelines that support good practice in cases like this do not offer explicit intervention and prevention techniques, which may cause future issues to occur, such as reoffending. As well as this, the NSPCC (2016) have released an advice webpage for parents to understand what is normal sexual behaviour for the ages of 14 16, and what to do if they are worried about certain behaviour. The NSPCC advice page reassures parents that it is normal for young people aged 14 16 to start exploring their sexual behaviour privately, as they are going through or have been through puberty. If they seem to have forceful or aggressive sexual behaviour, this may be a warning sign. If parents are worried, they are told to speak to their child to try to understand why they are acting this way, or speak to a health professional for advice. It is also advised that at this age, young people may come across porn online. However, this may cause distress (NSPCC, 2015). Also, it was found that watching online porn changed the way 28% of surveyed 11 18 year olds viewed relationships (The Telegraph, 2013). This suggests that young people may be influenced by what they see online. This is important as the NSPCC advise parents to keep an eye on their teenagers behaviour, and if they are worried, to seek ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. The Movie Franchise Star Wars The movie franchise star wars has been around for over fifty years. It s a classic drama series about dark and light forces trying to get the best of one another. The Jedi and the Sith are both factions which use the essences of the universe in order to obtain their special abilities that they use to their advantage. The force is split between the Jedi who represent the light force, and the Sith who represent the dark force. So which of the two, light or dark, is the better as seen in the star wars storylines. The Jedi seem to have the upper hand and here are some reasons why. The Jedi and Sith both use Lightsabers(Short swords made with laser energy) when fighting enemies or dueling with one another. They give them both huge advantages in battle, because they can use the force to detect where things will be before they happen. When they are attacked with a blaster or lightsaber, the laser it is deflected off of the blade. This also makes for some really spectacular duels between the two. So which of the two has the better lightsaber? Lightsabers are formed from special crystals which the Jedi or Sith have to meditate on for weeks on end until it can form a blade. The Sith made the their sabers with synthetic crystals that they had to put into a furnace whereas the Jedi used a special natural growing crystal found on Dantooine, Ilum, or the Adega System. When the blades are finally constructed, they have a certain color which corresponds to their personality. The Sith ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 24. A Research Study On Periodontitis Is Recognised As... Periodontitis is recognised as chronic, low grade, inflammatory and pathogenic infection, which continuously changes at a systemic level (Reddy, Phulambriker, Wanjari, Srivastava, 2012). Persistent inflammatory infection as a result of Gram negative anaerobic bacteria lead to the destruction of bone and other tooth supporting structures; an outcome of periodontitis is periodontal pockets (Usin et al., 2014). This fact enables bacteria and their by products to spread to areas indirectly through the body s immune inflammatory response (Usin et al., 2014), thus creating potential damages to other systems and organs. It has been investigated that oral infections, such as periodontitis may increase the risk of low birth weight (LBW) (Abati et al., 2013). Offenbacher et al., (1996) pioneering study suggested a significant correlation between periodontitis and premature and/or low birth weight infants, and further studies have identified the potential connection. However, the topic has remained controversial since publication, with additional studies failing to find any positive associations (Abati et al., 2013). Depending on the geographical location periodontal disease has been observed in 10 60% of the population and been associated with osteoporosis, foetal restriction, diabetes, respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, preeclampsia, preterm low birth weight and low birth weight (Usin et al., 2014). When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth exists and is made up of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has turned into so much more; with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which there is a possibility that other life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said to only be able to send drones or robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of humans is closely becoming a fact. These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries like the fact that life was once present on Mars. However some among humanity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way. According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet. (9) This argument is understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests depleting is occurring provides more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would allow for a rebirth and have the world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by humanity s daily lives. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of our species powerfully suggests that progress will come from continued stable life on Earth, and that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to a new period of human stagnation. Southwestern Oklahoma State University Introduction Proper patient identification in hospitals has been an issue for many years, especially when it comes to blood specimen collection. Laboratory specimens being mislabeled are a everyday cause of harm to patients including repeat diagnostic procedures; repeat phlebotomy; delays in necessary surgical procedures; a performing unnecessary surgical procedures (Dunn and Moga, 2010). This is not only costly, but it is very stressing to patients and medical staff. The biggest concern is the possibility of making a fatal error when it comes to specimen collection. Without proper patient identification this risk increases substantially. Wallin, Sodberg, Van Guelpen, Stenlund, Grankvist, and Brulin (2009) state that critical errors in patient identification for blood testing occurs in up to one per 1000 specimens or procedures and misidentified specimens cause 160,000 adverse events every year in America. Bar coding has been introduced into many hospitals in the last several years. Using bar codes on patients ID bracelets and labels for specimens has been the normal practice for Saint Francis Hospital for some time. It is a place where a person should feel relaxed and comfortable, in harmony with their environment. It is a place of refuge and its doors should always be open. It can be where you go to after a long day of work or what you land on to win the game for your team. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines it as one s place of residence, the social unit formed by a family living together, or a goal to be achieved (356). Or rather, does society need restrictions to limit how science is to be used? Literature and historical events both point to the single truth that society, not science, must be checked. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the novel, the reader follows Winston Smith, an Outer Party member and a worker of the Ministry of Truth, where he alters and forges the past on a daily basis. Through his point of view, the reader navigates through the tyranny of Big Brother and the dilapidating society around him which is constantly at war with the two other nations in the world. The world as Winston knows it is controlled by four institutions: The Ministry of Love (which tortures people), The Ministry of Truth (which changes the past), The Ministry of Peace (which funds/supports the war), and The Ministry of Plenty (which is continually imposing ration systems). In Winston s world, literature has been destroyed, most old artifacts have been seized, emotion has been squelched and abandoned, and language is shortened through a new language, Newspeak. In charge of all this is Big Brother, a figurehead who everyone is brainwashed into admiring. And just like Brave New World, many readers analyze and infer from 1984 that science has caused these problems, and that discoveries in computer science may cause the stone that past was written on to melt away. However, once again, science is only able to generate knowledge; what society chooses to do with the information must be monitored and limited by society itself. • 32. AIALS Case Study As early as the 1980s, schools were using AIALS as learning tools in the classroom, albeit on a much smaller scale. An artificially intelligent assessment learning system designed for success is user centered and addresses user relevant issues at all stages in whatever form is appropriate (Dillon, 1994, p. 19). Hung et al. (2015) supported this phenomenon by indicating that when a system is well designed, its users can navigate it easily, use its features and tools efficiently and respond appropriately to the demands of the systems. Hence, a well designed AIALS is aligned accordingly with usability principles, and with features and tools to enhance learning performance for users. Generally, AIALS consists of four modules: an interface ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Chughtai et al. (2015) usability takes into account the ease of use and learnability a system, including simple navigation for average users. Nielsen (1994) posited that usability is a significant factor of interface design in order to ensure a user friendly system, Kodavali and Blessing (2011) also suggested that usability is an important factor when designing intelligent learning systems. Similarly, recent studies on usability testing of an AIALS revealed that there is a direct positive relationship between usability and learning effectiveness (Lin et al., 2014). Consequently, without a good user interface design, the goal/s of the system may not be realized. The integration of usability principles in the design and development of AIALS is important, involving a user centered focus approach to increase the overall effectiveness of learning systems (Hung et al., 2015). Developing enterprise data models will ensure the business requirements are being met and in the long run, spell success for the enterprise. The two entity relationship diagrams the rental car company has established are 1) a Conceptual data model and 2) a Logical data model. Using the process of building these foundational models, the rental car company can then move on to the physical model and complete the database. The first data model, the conceptual model, is basically the skeleton or the foundational framing for how the rental car company can develop the concepts (also known as entities) that are most important to the organization. Within the conceptual model, there are a limited number of components. In this current stage of the development there are only entities and relationships, descriptive characteristics (or attributes) come later.
