2. Ezgo Case Study
The EZGO company was started by two brothers in Georgia in the early 1950 s. With hard work
and wits, the Dolan brothers eventually cornered the golf cart market. To expand their business,
EZGO could venture into the off road path of vehicles. Thus, entering said market of off road
vehicles is easier said than done, because of the dominance Polaris has displays with their utility
and sport off road vehicles. Polaris would be EZGO most competitive rivalry. The only way to be
successful in cornering the off road market, would to complete an acquisition of Polaris. The mere
fact of Polaris existence is an automatic reduce in potential profit in the off road industry. Also, by
purchasing Polaris, EZGO would eliminate the buyer bargaining power because their biggest

Without Polaris in the picture, EZGO can set the market how they feel would be the most

You must corner the off road market in a fashion that is, profitable, and looks too risky for other
competitors to even think about entering the realm of off road sports vehicles. Thus, would
eliminate the threat of substitutes. Which means, another company wouldn t try and develop
anything within the realm of the off road vehicle. Conversely, would make EZGO as dominate in
the off road vehicle market as they are in the golf cart

3. The Use Of Nigger
The use of the term nigger can be used as a amicable greeting between two blacks, or as a
hideous pejorative (Marriott 94) towards blacks. Marriott notes that the use of nigger is usually
condoned and used by younger blacks as a term of endearment (98), in hopes to gradually alter
the meaning of the word. Their goal is to normalize the usage of nigger between blacks to dull its
edge whenever whites use it (Marriott 95). This has been proved somewhat efficient, as most
whites dread the word and express feelings of disgust whenever it is heard from the mouth of
whites. Many younger blacks believe their efforts are stimulating a progression in society, but older
blacks and the majority of whites assert just the opposite it illustrates anything

4. Italian Immigration And New Immigration
From 1890 onward became a part of what is known as New Immigration, which became known as
the third and largest wave of immigration to America from Europe. This wave consisted of Slavs,
Jews, and Italians. Three million Italians, which was the largest new immigrants, immigrated to
America. These immigrants represented all regions of Italymost of them being from Southern Italy.
Italian immigrants were driven from their homelands for the many hardships they faced and hoped
that America would benefit to their cause only to find that they were faced with new struggles.
Many Italians were often referred to as birds of passage because they had only planned on staying
in the United States temporarily just until they could gain enough money to support their life back
in Italy. Poverty, overpopulation, politics, and natural disasters have had Italians packing but only
temporarily. Poverty was the main reason that Italians felt the need to leave. With northern Italians
in control of the government high taxes and protective tariffs on northern industries hurt southern
Italians. Along with that, roughly eighty percent of Italians lived off of agriculture. Many farming
tools were inefficient due to the lack of modern technology, which did not allow for improvement.
Farmers often lived in a one room house with no plumbing or even privacy which were harsh
conditions in comparison to others. These people were isolated being that there were no roads,
making it extremely hard to make

This sequence is determined by the pathway known as the conduction system.
2.Cardiac cells are connective and autorhythmic. What does this mean? Connective cells, action

Autorhythmic cells can excite themselves spontaneously without stimulation of the nervous system

BIBLE STUDY FOR THE MOTHERS UNION AND WOMEN GUILD ON THE OCCASION OF
THEIR DIOCESAN WOMEN CONFERENCE HELD AT THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF
HOLY TRINITY, LOKOJA ON 29 TH 31ST AUGUST, 2014 Preamble to the Gospel according to
St. John
Just as every coin has two valid sides, so Jesus Christ has two natures, also both valid. While the
Gospel according to St. Luke presents Jesus in His humanity as the Son of Man, the Gospel of John
showcases Christ in His divinity as the Son of God.
The writer John, who along with Peter and James formed the inner circle disciple of Jesus, never
refers to himself by name, but always calls himself the disciple whom Jesus loved, as the writer of
this Gospel. (John 13:23, 19: 26; 20:2; 21:7, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mary tells the servants, Do whatever he tells you, and with these words she echoes Israel s
profession of faith at Sinai. Mary personifies in a certain manner the people of Israel in the context
of the covenant and stands as a faithful representative of Israel.
Joseph and Jesus
Second, Mary s words find a close parallel with what Pharaoh said about Joseph in the Book of
Genesis. During the severe famine in Egypt, Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of storing up the wheat
harvest in the plentiful years before the famine and distributing it once the food crisis arrived.
When the starving people cried for provisions, Pharaoh told them, Go to Joseph; what he says to
you, do (Gen. 41:55) an expression almost identical to what Mary would later say at Cana.
This Biblical connection between doing whatever Joseph says and doing whatever Jesus says is
quite significant, for there are several parallels between Joseph and Jesus in these two scenes.
Just as Joseph overcame a lack of food during the famine with his storehouses of grain, so Jesus
overcomes a lack of wine at the wedding by changing a large volume of water into wine. Just as
Joseph is presented as having the Spirit of God in him at the beginning of his work (Gen. 41:38),
so Jesus is described as having the Spirit upon Him at the start of His ministry (Jn. 1:32). Just as
Joseph was 30 years old when he began to

have a Julian Bream quote I keep close to my heart. I like it best edited, the way my clarinet
teacher first introduced it to me: I practice more than ever...mostly scales and arpeggios...and
anything I can t do . If I had come across this quote several years ago, I would have likely dismissed
it without so much as a second glance, instantly repulsed by the words scales and arpeggios . But
when I first saw the quote, I was not quite so repelled.
This is strange because I used to despise playing the clarinet, when I was younger, as it seemed
the only sound I could manage to produce was a squeak, ranging unpredictably from an airy hiss to
a deafening, shrill cry. But somewhere along the way, I developed an appreciation for those

Now, my mom has to beg me to quit after hearing hours of scales and arpeggios.
The changes were subtle yet inexplicably complex. The clarinet, previously an instrument that
seemed to me a source of primal noise, soon became a thing of varied beauty. Its accent, sometimes
playful, sometimes calm, sometimes impassioned, dreamy or melancholic, like the weakened echo
of an echo, is like the indistinct plaintiff moans of the breeze in the woods. There doesn t exist
another musical instrument I know of that possesses this strange resonance.
Similarly, the music room, previously a place I didn t particularly enjoy being in, quickly became
an abode of serenity. Music stirs me to greater passions or calms me by washing over me like a
peaceful blanket, consoling me in times of strife. In those moments, nothing is going through my
mind. I m not even here anymore. When I surrender my whole being into a note, I need no other

Politics and power are significant in all societies, rich or poor. In Prosperity and Violence, the
Political Economy of Development, Harvard academic Robert H. Bates gives insight on the
relationship between political order and economic growth. By analyzing the revolution of agrarian
societies to industrial societies, he argues that as these transitions occur, violence is often used to
strengthen the system of production.
In spite of Third World countries similar pre industrial history and early policies aimed at
industrializing, Third World countries have not had the same growth as most European countries.
Bates analyzes the process of development and concludes that this time period as an important

Even though the monarch had to relinquish power to the people, it was in the monarchs advantage.
They led persuared them to buy into the monarchs desire for war and as a result the monarch
received more money from the people. Bates argues that some institutions in European states were
forged by war. The absence of this threat would prevent the new juridical states from developing
parallel institutions. In order to achieve prosperity, states require a shift from subsistence
agriculture and kin based mechanisms of enforcement to specialization within urban city centers.
Rulers replace kin networks as the source for the threat of violence, which was necessary to ensure
security of person, property and contracts. Bates states, Governments pursued policies that
promoted the growth of the economy and the rise of parliamentary institutions not because they
wanted to but because they had to, the better to secure the resources with which to fight (56).
Rulers made themselves attractive to private creditors and encouraged their subjects to invest in
capital because they believe their investments were safe. This resulted in economic growth and,
therefore, tax revenue.
Another key argument Bates presents is the importance of investing to promote economic
development. Without a proficient state to control violence, people in societies will mainly focus on
consumption instead of investment. It is almost human nature to think

By taking advantage of a Section 83(b) election, Spellman s tax liability will be less than paying
tax when the shares become vested.
As for stock options, the tax liability depends on whether the option is a nonqualified stock
option (NQO) and an incentive stock option (ISO). When an NQO is exercised the tax liability
will be at the ordinary income rate equal to the current fair market value minus the option
exercise price. Upon sale the stock will be taxed at the capital gains rate equal to the sale of the
stock minus the fair market value on date of exercise. An ISO does not have a tax consequence,
though alternative minimum tax may be due. When the stock is sold, and if it had been held for
more than one year from the date of exercise and more than two years from being grated, the
spread will be taxed at the capital gains rate. Otherwise, the spread will be taxed as ordinary income.
Second, he wanted to ensure that his equity stake would not be diluted. Any future issuance of
equity would dilute existing shareholders percentage of ownership. Therefore Spellman and
Sawyer agreed to an antidilution provision that allowed Spellman s equity to be non dilutable by
the first $35 million of financing. He would receive an additional percentage as a bonus at the
initial public offering.

17. Causes Of The French And Indian War Essay
An Examination of the French and Indian Wars
I.Causes
The initial causes of the French and Indian War are based on the increasing colonization of French
and English settlements throughout the Ohio River Valley area. In the 1750s, British colonists
were slowly expanding territorial settlements into the Ohio River Valley from Virginia. In this
manner, the English were aggressively establishing more land claims and rights for the British
government. More so, the English were cooperating with the local Native American tribes in terms
of sharing land rights or respecting the traditions of the indigenous peoples, which often involved
military supports and resources from the Iroquois tribe. In contrast to this colonial development,
the French were also claiming land rights for settlements in the Ohio River Valley by moving east
and southwards from the Great Lakes and French colonial territories in New France. The French
also cooperated with local indigenous peoples, such as the Huron, to fight the British during this
historical period. The Huron people had a long tradition of trade, and other forms of economic and
military cooperation to support this alliance:
The link that joined most of Canada s Indian nations to the French was not a common faith, but a
common interest in the fur trade. On the even of the French and Indian War, The French
government maintained some forty four fortified Indian trading posts, some protected by a small
garrison (Cave 46).
These aspects of colonial were a major part of the French alliance with the Huron, but it was also
part of agreements that the British made with the Iroquois during the 1740s and 1750s. However,

What I m going to talk about is four major themes from the book, Borderlands La Frontera by
Gloria AnzaldГєa. The four major themes I chose to talk about are first, how you shouldn t be

she found herself through poetry, and lastly, America s melting pot.
Don t Be Ashamed of Yourself When reading the book, Borderlands La Frontera, AnzaldГ

The woman is supposed to clean, and cook for her family. Also, a woman is supposed to listen to
her husband and not disobey. Women are made to feel like total failures if they do not get married
and have children, so in their culture they are seen as deviant. AnzaldГєa talks about how when she
was younger she knew that she something was wrong with her. She started talking about her
deviant behavior of how she refuses to take orders from authorities. She wouldn t take orders from
her parents and she wouldn t do chores. There was a rebel in her. She called it The Shadow Beast
(AnzaldГєa, 2012, p. 38).
AnzaldГєa was seen as a deviant because she was a lesbian. This time, she wasn t just seen as a
deviant to America, she was seen as deviant to her own culture. In her culture, as a woman,
AnzaldГєa is supposed to marry a man. AnzaldГєa was raised as a Catholic and was taught that
being a homosexual was a choice and it is not something you genetically inherited. If a woman
does not marry a man she is a Mujer mala, meaning a bad woman (AnzaldГєa, 2012, p. 38).
AnzaldГєa felt like an alien. Who would want to be disowned by their family, or even the whole
village? People usually blame the kid s parents for the kid being a homosexual. You can t come out
of the closet because if you do, then you not only ruin your reputation, you ruin your family s

Samsung is perhaps the world s greatest success story. Started in 1938 in Taegu, Korea by Lee
Byung Chul, Samsung has sprouted from a small company under Japanese rule, into the one of the

the company and its presidents and executive decisions and eagerness to adapt to the rapidly

subject relationship, Chun tzu, making personal relationships a priority in a business setting, in
addition to keeping accordance with Jen,a warm heartedness and compassion that allows to one to

create demand, and learn from other companies successes and failures. With this combination of
old world Confucian principles and the ability to diversify and evolve, Samsung has experienced
intense growth and success, beating out Apple and Panasonic and gaining a foothold in the digital

The meaning of a happy and prosperous life can take on different forms based on the value and
belief of an individual. For Neddy Merrill, the main character in The Swimmer by John Cheever,
prosperity is solely associated with wealth and social standing. In this essay, I will argue that
contrasting images of the public and private pools, encountered by Neddy swimming across his
upper class neighbourhood, reflect his obsession with material and social success, which
ultimately deserted him in desperation at the end of the story. In The Swimmer , the private pools

Reaction Center is linked with more unpleasant images to demonstrate Neddy s distaste for
lower socioeconomic classes. Neddy initially compares the public pool to a sink (Cheever, 177).
The word sink carries a negative connotation, as its common function is to hold dirty dishes. By
comparing the public pool to a sink , it also likens public pool users to dirty dishes, revealing that
Neddy is looking down on people who cannot afford a private pool. Moreover, as Neddy entering
the public pool, he remarks on his longing for the sapphire water and thinks that he might

term with a negative connotation, which reinforces Neddy s aversion to the public pool.

Historically, epidemiologist have used this to formulate etiologies of disease by measuring
variations within a population and the impact of environmental factors (Radzyminski, 2007).
Governments have also applied this concept to the implementation of interventions geared at
improving the healthof nations (Radzyminski, 2007). Although the concept is not new, the term
population health has only been recently defined and differentiated from the definitions of
community health, public health, and population focused care. This paper will discuss the current
definition of population health, its impact on nursing practice, its relation to evidence based
practice, and the importance of interprofessional collaboration in the delivery of population health
care.
Population Health Defined
To understand the concept of population health, it is first important to understand what defines
health. The World Health Organization defines health as the state of complete physical, mental,
and social well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (WHO, 1946). This
definition implies that the experience of health is a highly personal one and impacted by multiple
factors both internal and external to the individual. Population, on the other hand, is defined by
Caldwell (1996) as a large mass of people constituting some kind of definable unit to which
measurements pertain (p.306). Multiple

24. Spanking
Spanking has been a culturally accepted form of punishment for children between the ages of one to
five until recently due to belief that it may cause more aggressive behavior. Parents have turned to a
warmth parenting style, which includes affection, comfort, concern, nurturance, support, and good
old fashioned love (Lee, Altschul, and Gershoff, p. #2018) . In this study, reseachers look at
whether spankinghas a negative impact on children s development, and if they develop aggressive
behaviors. Two questions remain: Are spanking and maternal warmth independently associated with
changes in child aggression over time? And does maternal warmth moderate the extent to which
increases in maternal spanking predict increases in child aggression over time (Lee,... Show more

During these interviews, the mothers were asked various questions regarding how their children
behaved and how they reacted. Parent child interactions were also observed and then rated on
seven items that the observer considered warm feelings . The child s aggressive behavior was
then assessed using a checklist, as well observed home visits. Researches then asked participants
various questions regarding alcohol consumption, depression, intimate partner aggression, as well
as child characteristics. As a result of the experiment, researchers found that children tended to be
more aggressive when punished with spanking. Mothers who spanked their children at age one
usually saw more aggressive behaviors at age three. However, spanking became unrelated towards
maternal affection towards their children by the time their children were between the ages of three
and five. Regardless of mother s warmth, greater use of spanking is associated with increases in
maternal spanking from ages three to five (Lee, Altschul, and Gershoff p.

26. Measuring Academic Procrastination in Australian...
Procrastination is an important individual difference construct that affects many areas of life, from
health care (delaying important medical visits or exercise) to finance (dealing with financial
troubles like credit card debt), to academic arenas. Procrastination, has been defined as the act of
needlessly delaying tasks to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort or putting off that
which is necessary to reach some goal (Lay, 1986, p474). Procrastination has been associated with
maladaptive behaviours and outcomes including anxiety, depression, stress, illness and low self
efficacy (Schouwenburg, 1995; Klassen, 2008). Academic procrastination, a unique form of
procrastination, has had minimal research compared to other psychological constructs. And as far
as the author is aware there has been no research on academic procrastination in the Australian
University context. A reliable scale measuring academic procrastination in Australian undergraduate
students is needed for the purpose of research in to theoretical foundations of academic
procrastination, who procrastinates, the reasons why, the implications, and so as to advance
understanding of this construct. In a meta analytic and theoretical review of procrastination, it was
estimated that between 80 95% of undergraduates experience problematic academic procrastination,
with up to 30% experiencing severe procrastination (Steel, 2007). Considering the effect of
procrastination on the general, work and academic

So, just over the weekend, we had a chance to get our hands on a brand new magnetic base drill
from one of our local dealers. The model was the HMD115 Ultra Low Profile Right Angle Drill
from Hougen. And as expected, our test experience was beyond our expectations.
Basically, mag drills, such as the HMD115, are essential pieces of equipment that should never be
missing in your work area. What s great about them is that they combine the power of a drill press
and an electromagnetic base, allowing the handyman to handle carbon steel surfaces. In other
words, they are specially designed for heavy steel sections. Now, I don t want you to wait any
longer, so let me finally begin with my review of the Hougen HMD115. Let s see if this is

Many cycles differ slightly from year to year, decade to decade; for example, the climate,
economies, and wars all follow their own rollercoaster like paths that adjust slightly after each run.
This pattern of repetition with a difference recurs throughout Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez s magical
realist novel One Hundred Years of Solitude. The story follows the generations of the BuendГa
familyin the town of Macondo. However, the spiral the family follows collapses inward on itself
with each passing generation, eventually culminating with Aureliano Babilonia, the last survivor of
the BuendГa family. Aureliano Babilonia s solitary nature, similar to Aurelianos in previous

Thus, the apparent lack of a motherly figure further distances Aureliano Babilonia from the typical
love children experience, likely contributing to his reserved and initially tentative nature. Rather
than growing up like the other children of the BuendГa family, Fernanda locks Aureliano Babilonia
in Colonel Aureliano BuendГa s workshop. His infancy spent in the workshop shapes his future
obsession of studying MelquГades parchments, as he likely associates the workshop with safety and
comfort, and naturally absorbs himself into every aspect of the room. This suggests that, without an
adequate amount of human interaction, one is largely shaped by their surroundings during infancy,
leading to a more analytical or observant nature that arises in place of observing human interactions
and developing connections with others. However, Aureliano Babilonia s youth is not entirely
devoid of human contact. At around three years old, he escapes the workshop, appearing in front of
Aureliano Segundo, his grandfather, as if he were not a human child but the encyclopedia definition
of a cannibal (294). This furthers the idea that Aureliano Babilonia lives more like an ostracized,
uncivilized individual than a normal child. Moreover, his comparison to a cannibal, a term that

As implied in the title he is conducting an experiment, however it is not as simple as it seems.
Firstly one may wonder what exactly is his experiment. You see it isn t just about how this
proclaimed water from the Fountain of Youth can change you to become young, it is about the
behaviour of those once they do become young, do they become even more obnoxious than they
already were, or does something else happen? Just before drinking the Elixir from the fountain
of youth he warns them, It would be well that, with the experience of a lifetime to direct you,
you should draw up a few general rules for your guidance, in passing a second time through the
perils of youth. Think what a sin and shame it would be, if, with your peculiar advantages, you
should not become patterns of virtue and wisdom to all the young people of the age! (Line 64)
The experience of a lifetime is telling them that they are to expect something of great pleasure,
however the perils of youth are showing that going back to being young again could make them
more desperate than ever. He is warning them to not act foolishly once they become young, for
they would have many advantages by becoming young yet if too desperate it could cause

32. Character Analysis of Aaron the Moor in ShakespeareВґs...
Titus Andronicus by William Shakespeare, is a play full of murders, miseries and heinous
deeds, whose chief architect (Shakespeare 5.3.121) for the most part, if not all, was Aaron the
Moor. The audience of the play would be so quick to rule Aaron as a purely evil character, the
most evil of all the other characters. However, a deeper analysis of Aaron shows that despite his
villainy, he still has a human side which he shows towards his son, and that his dark skin has made
him a victim of racism, which might have influenced his character, and developed his evil nature
that he enjoys. Aaron s status is more complicated than just purely evil, and on the whole, he can be
a sympathetic character.
In the play Titus Andronicus, the theme of parents and children is clearly visible, and the
audience get to see a humanitarian side of the presumably purely evil Aaron, that he shows
towards his son. Unlike the hero of the play, Titus, who does not hesitate to slay his son in a
wrongful quarrel (Shakespeare 1.1.294) and disown him: Nor thou, nor he, are any sons of
mine; my son s would never so dishonour me (Shakespeare 1.1.295 296), Aaron refuses that his
son be killed, and makes it clear that he shall not die (Shakespeare 4.2.81) and that he who
touches his son will die upon his scimitar s sharp point (Shakespeare 4.2.91 92).Some might argue
that Aaron s actions towards his son are simply egotistical ,and that he sees the boy as a means of

a specific genre, which refers to a form of entertainment that has the main goal of igniting laughter
within an audience, has been around for centuries and is still extremely prevalent in the present
day. It dates back all the way to Ancient Greece when comedywas purely satirical. At the time,
humor was found in doing parodies of politics and social organizations. Since then, the style has
gone through tremendous transformations and in its modern age, is far different than the comedy

This piece is the oldest work that Aristophanes has left behind and is celebrated for being the
perfect example of a true ancient comedy. Even as years go by, several critics maintain that the
comedic element in this play is still applicable and relevant to the modern day.
In Laughter (1924) author, Henri Bergson, an influential French philosopher, and fan of comedy,
seeks to further understand laughter in all of its complexity. Straightaway he establishes three
ideas quite clearly: comedy is human, laughter requires an absence of every other emotion, and it
plays a huge role in social life. He goes on further with the social aspect of laughter, even
suggesting that laughter needs cannot occur without multiple people with the following telling
statement: You would hardly appreciate the comic if you felt yourself isolated from others.
Laughter appears to stand in need of an echo [...] Our laughter is always the laughter of a group (6).
Throughout the book, Bergson brings up his own theory of laughter, seeing it as almost a part of
evolution. Laughter

Germanic Influence on Higher Education
Before one can move forward with their education one must understand where it all started. When
researching the history of higher education there is a common theme in every aspect of my
research. I would find the word college and the word university . Throughout the 19th century there
would be some confusion between the two words. In colleges the primary role is teaching where as
in the university research and scholarships are the primary role (Lucas,2006). Also, current
universities offer post baccalaureate or graduate instruction whereas colleges do not. However, this
was not always the case before the 19th century.
The impact of German university scholarship upon nineteenth century American higher education is
one of the most significant in modern intellectual history (Westmeyer, 1985,p. ?). Before the impact
of Germany American universities were not research and scholarship based. American scholars
were beginning to get frustrated that they did not have the opportunity to develop higher studies
within their schools. While this frustration started to grow students began to look for other ways to
advance their studies. During 1815 1914 10,000 students took the opportunity to try and evolve
their knowledge through attending German universities (Westmeyer, 1985). Of the 10,000 students
academic celebrities as Leopold von Ranke, Herman von Homholtz, Wilhem Wundt took this

40. Economics Reflection
. Through the process of reading, I learned many things about the economy. First of all, I learned
that it is a much more difficult decision to come to in regards of how much government
involvement in the nation s economy is enough, how much is too little, and how much is not
enough. I also learned that trying to keep the economy stable and productive is a constant and
difficult struggle, and that it is often difficult to even know what needs to or can be done in order
to stabilize it. While I find economicsto be somewhat boring (I am a music major and largely
emotionally driven, which means that my entertainment is usually emotionally involving
somehow), I actually enjoyed how Wheelan explained economics in this book. While I would not
read it for fun, reading this book as an assignment was not painful.
Having government involved in the economy has its pros and cons. One of the Pros is that the
government can help prevent or discourage harmful behaviors or actions. Government regulation
can prevent man caused shortages. Fishing regulations are often put in place to prevent overfishing.
These regulations prevent or discourage fishermen from fishing too much in one season, which
allows the fish to repopulate and remain available in the future. In the book, Wheelan mentioned
how the government can also tax bad behaviors to encourage behaviors that benefit health and/or
the environment. An example of this is a tax on gasoline and/or larger vehicles, or a tax on
cigarettes.

In this film, the numerous functional and dysfunctional properties of the 12 jury men play a big
role in analysing and evaluating the main purpose at hand, namely identifying the young man guilty
or innocent for the murder of his father.
The different roles the 12 jury men play in the deliberation of the capital murder case is prominent.

In the beginning of the film, conflict between the jury members arise when the initial vote was
taken and only one member of the jury voted that the verdict was not guilty (Juror 8). Because
Juror 8 did not agree with the other jury members, Juror 12 suggested that the group should try and
convince Juror 8, why they think defendant is indeed guilty. Conflict also increases when it was
decided that each Juror should give a reason for why he initially voted that verdict is guilty or not
guilty. In the process of discussing the reasoning behind each members vote, the preconceptions of
some Jurors, namely Juror 10, lead to the conformity of other group members, namely Juror 5.
During the film, miscommunication between the members leads to further misunderstanding which
eventually resulted in role conflict. Simple conflict also took place when the jury members could
not agree on a certain issue. Ego conflict occurred because of the group members personality
disagreements.
When looking at the film, 12 Angry men , conformity plays a big role in the jury room. The film
demonstrates the tremendous amount of power social influence can have on individuals to

group, will lead to an increased level of acceptance. Conformity due to social influence can be

2 Tolstoy s Character. Tolstoy was a multi dimensional man. In his long career he had been a

fiction that his fame at present rests. The literary career of this great writer of the Russian land

According to a report from the World Bank in 2015, the Congo is among the poorest countries in

the brutality their family were subject to by Belgian soldiers. They recounted that We had to go
further and further into the forest... without food... we starved....leopards killed some of us...
and others got lost or died from exposure and starvation... soldiers said: Go! You are only beasts
yourselves. Additionally, another refugee from the same report disclosed that troops would
often kill the Congolese for the sake of rubber. Once, a soldier, pointing to a basket, said... look,
only two hands! That s nothing... I brought the white man 160 hands. The hands the soldier was
referring to were those of the Congolese workers who labored in dangerous forests to find
rubber. Indigenous people were denied sustenance, had their hands cut off for amusement, or
were shot, at the whims of Belgian soldiers. The meager wages paid to the Congolese could not
be collected while the worker was recovering from injury, which forced greater poverty to befall
the people of Congo in the long run. When the injury was permanent, such as a severed limb,
families lost the little income they had. As a result, many starved to death. This poverty was then
handed down to further generations, creating a ripple effect that can still be felt today. Over half a
century later, Congo is an acutely poor nation. This is the culmination of violence the Congolese
faced during colonization. Without the cruelness of the Belgian colonists, families would have
enough money to buy proper nutrition for themselves, and many more people would survive.
Therefore, the end result of poverty in modern day Congo is a direct consequence of the savagery

The California Dream is Dead
The California Dream? More like a California Miracle. James Rawls, writer of the article
California: A Place, A People, A Dream is an optimist who believes there is still hope for the
California Dream (Rawls 14). The article was written 1984. It is not applicable to today s self
destructive California. With the population of over 38 million people, California is barely holding
itself together at this point. Even investment in the young Californians education is too costly for
the government. And with less people pursuing education, this leads to less degrees. Fewer
degrees translates to a lower employment rate. A lower employment rate means a weaker
economy. California is in the midst of a very self destructive chain that will eventually lead to
California s end. The California Dream is now a California Miracle (Johnson Ahorlu, Alvarez, and
Hurtado 24). It is too late for attempting to revive the California Dream, as now California is in self
destruction due to overpopulation and California being unable to support so many people
educationally.
California: A Place, A People, A Dream by James Rawls is an optimistic article describing
California and its ongoing success despite of its countless setbacks. Rawls claims that it is through
the pursuit of dreams that Californians continuously save California. He also proposes that the

results far beyond the normal expectation (even those of Kirk Douglas character, Colonel Dax, the
primary protagonist of the film), so the film s theme can blend in throughout the background of the
important events of the film. Patriotism is not something to be taken lightly, and the film Paths of

limited theatrical release. December 25th is Christmas Day, and it seems like no coincidence for
an anti war film to release on such a day, and it is possible Kubrick wished to make a statement
with that release date. However, even with the release date taken out of the question, the visual
items presented with the film (such as posters, possible merchandise, etc.) were given a very pro
