Gender in African WomenВґs Writing Essay
The identity of African women juxtaposed to the Western women s identity is a hard concept for
one to grasp. The word feminism is merely looked at from one perspective, the western
perspective. The reality of feminism is that everywhere in the world has a different idea of what
feminism is defined as and what it should look like. However there is one central theme that
applies to feminists around the world, which is a feminist is someone who goes against traditional
roles of a womanin their society to better their genderas a whole.
These strong, and independent African women authors use insightful and educational language,
which invites the western world to be a part of their world through the power of literature. One of

However, the African feminist is a woman who does not stay In a loveless marriage, she does
not allow herself to remain uneducated, and she certainly does not allow herself to be
categorized as a minority. In order for a woman to achieve these goals she has to take extreme
risks and jeopardize the one life she knows. The term rebel has been used often when African
women describe themselves and from their definition a rebel is a feminist. In Aidoo s, Changes
we are introduced to a woman who has so much self respect for herself that she transforms
herself into an African feminist. She takes a modern stance on femininity and this is refreshing
change. This woman refuses to be walked all over by some man who tells her what she can and
cannot do. She leaves the life she knows and risks it all in order to be free and feel that no one is
judging her for having a high paying job as a female. Women are often worried how other females
will judge them and or be jealous of their accomplishments. It is women like this that make women
all over the world see the many possibilities that lay before them, no matter what their current
situation.
Women in Africawho do not rebel and sadly do not become a feminist are grouped in a category
that one could consider as the outsiders . Women who fear to be feminists fall into a trap, which
becomes a vicious cycle and makes it almost impossible for them

Compare And Contrast Lee And Grant
After the Civil War most people saw Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant as heroes. Both men
symbolize the two forces which fought in the Civil War ( Lee and Grant , 1). Even though both
men were brilliant generals, Lee surrendered to Grant on April 9, 1865 and was also defeated at
Gettysburg, one of the most known battles in 1863. After the Civil War, Lee went on to become
president of Washington College, and Grant, president of the United States( Robert E.Lee and
Ulysses S. Grant, 1). Lee and Grant were similar in their leadership styles, but also diverse in terms
of military strategies. In 1868, Grant was elected president of the United States. He was only 46,

Sherman Alexie The Joy Of Reading
Academic Blog Post: EJ Goings (9/4/2015)
Thinking back on all of the academic posts that we have worked on, I believe that there is some
sort of pattern between Villanueva, Mellix, and Alexie stories. All have been able to overcome
struggle, face adversity, and strive and maintain excellence in mastering English and literacy skills.
Their adversity allowed them to grow internally, allowing their external layer to be polished and
perfected. In the Alexie piece, Alexie believed that Indian children were expected to be stupid .
(Sherman Alexie, The Joy of Reading and Writing) When a child expectations are low and they are
told they will not amount to anything, they begin to believe and process those thoughts. Thus,
making it very hard for a child to learn at their own rate. I highly believe that a support system is
needed in order to become successful in not only a school system, but life as well. Alexie also
talked about how Indian children excelled outside school. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In my eyes, I see this as the turning point in Alexie s life. Alexie was a child who was not
expected to live, grew up poor ( living on a combination of irregular paychecks, hope fear, and
government surplus food ) and began to experience his first literacy experience at the age of three.
Although some would not see this as a turning point in their lives, this signified that he was on the
path of discovering his inner self and beginning to add layers to his life to become a successful

The Hidden Personality
The essay He Would Never Hurt a Fly: War Criminals on Trial in The Hague
Written by Slavenka Drakulic in 2004 recaptures the life in Yugoslavia during the ethnic
War and a crucial period of the dissolving country. This period of life was the 60 s and the
generation was healthy there was no formula, cotton diapers, and no danger (Drakulic 1118). The
essay is told by a native of Croatia, who uses her personal familiarity of people and the community
to report using both journalism and fiction. It tells a story of the trial of a trusting young man
named Goran Jelisic that becomes cultivated by the war going on around him. Goran was a ... Show

It is debated in the essay that Goran was a narcissistic and antisocial personality determined by
two psychiatrists (Drakulic 1122), or was he a victim of the war that lead him to kill for eighteen
days. Another theory was that he was forced and afraid of his life. I find it ironic that he plead
guilty and was willing to take his punishment with no defense. This essay showed how we all are a
victim of our upbringing and surroundings. It portrays a life of a normal human that had goals and
ambitions but failed due to power of one s inner soul. You can t help but feel that Goran was a
victim and not just a killer that turned, with the blink of an eye into a monster. He pretended to
be God and got a high of showing his power by executing prisoners (Drakulic 1125). He was a
young farm mechanic given a pistol and power that he had never received before, but had longed
for his whole life.
It seems like Goran could have been anyone of us from the grocery store clerk, the CEO of a big
corporation, or the stay at home mother that had just had enough. The human race is a complex
breed that at any point we can be pushed over the edge. Looks can be deceiving and while
everything appears to be put together the inner battle within ones soul could portray a monster
waiting to be pushed over the edge. I believe that no one is brought into this world evil; they are a
product of their environments that forms their inner demons.

Analysis Of Chesterton And His Literary Masterpiece
While doing research on G.K. Chesterton and his literary masterpiece, I came upon this question
What is the difference between progress and growth? to which G.K. Chesterton answered The fatal
metaphor of progress, which means leaving things behind us, has utterly obscured the real idea of
growth, which means leaving things inside of us. This statement is just one of the plethora of
quotations of a man who never attended any university, and it amazing how he can say something
about everything and say it better than everybody else. This is a journey to understand a genius
and the Nightmare that he is well known for even over one hundred years after it was written.

Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the rules of the
academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role he could think most
profoundly, powerfully, and effectively.
He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He progressed
from newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his own winning personality
to show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism.
In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met Hilaire Belloc,
and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the great influences in his life.
From 1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen novels, the most important being The
Napoleon of Notting Hill (1904) and The Man Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton
created the Father Brown detective stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and
numerous articles.
He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical and polemical
works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the White Horse, Lepanto, and the
drinking songs from The Flying Inn. Among his major critical works are reviews of Robert
Browning (1903) and Charles Dickens (1906). Prodigiously talented, Chesterton also illustrated a
number of Belloc s light works.
Chesterton spoke of himself as

How Does William Goldman Use Situational Irony In The...
Satire is the use of humor, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize a person s someone s
shortcomings and vices. In William Goldman s The Princess Bride, satire is evident through his
use of irony and ridicule, which he uses to mock different aspects of traditional fairy tales.
Archetypes are not employed, highlighting the absurdness of key components of these stories.
Situational irony is also used to satericalize the flaws of several characters, mocking their flaws,
and making them laughable. Therefore, William Goldman s The Princess Bride is a satirical story
that mocks fairy tale archetypes and character flaws through the use of ridicule. In this story,

For example, Vizzini boasts an intellectual mind that he believes is his strongest attribute. In his
battle of wits against Westley, his dizzying intellect which was supposed to help him reason out
the poison, fails to help him escape his fate (CITE!). In this example, the author mocks Vizzini s
flaws, satericalizing his conceitedness for it was because of his intelligence that he was unable to
see the trap Westley laid out. This adds to satirical theme of The Princess Bride as Goldman
ridicules Vizzini s self conceited nature. In addition, Goldman also ridicules seemingly good and
wanted characteristics by using irony to highlight how they aren t always good This is exemplified
when Buttercup asks her intended husband to help improve her letter to her lover while bragging
about how perfect Westley is to him (CITE). Throughout this book, Buttercup is portrayed to be
innocent; a characteristic that is often desired in princess roles. However, Goldman s use of
situational irony satericalises this expectation by turning her innocence into stupidity, showing how
oblivious she is, thus adding to the satirical nature of The Princess

Lighthouse Project Intership
Lighthouse Project is a pediatrics mental health clinic that integrates therapies, such as play
therapy, to assist children in overcoming problems at home and in school due to their disorders and
disabilities. The staff at Lighthouse Project split their time between clinic based work in their San
Jose clinic and school based work at various Gilroy school districts. At the clinic the staff works
strictly with high functioning children, providing both individual and group therapysessions,
similarly, in the school based setting they do individual and group sessions, however, the
individuals worked with are both low and high functioning. The purpose of the Lighthouse
Project clinic is to incorporate different programs to engage the child and improve abilities that
are debilitating, this is done with programs at the clinic involving social skills development,
sensory integration and sensory processing, as well as fine motor/handwriting skills. At the
schools the purpose is to close or minimize the gap between how much the child can achieve on
their own and what other classmates are able to achieve on their own, the basic ideology is to
have the child be able to achieve specific goals that those in their grade level are able to do, such
as by first grade the child should be able to cut out outlines on paper with scissor, however some
of our children are unable to do so and instead can only manage to snip the paper. Our organization
also works with other agencies and individuals.

Gesture Is An Important Part Of Language
Gesture is an important part of language the world over. Apart from sign languages, gestures, or
talking with one s hands, largely go unnoticed by a majority of speakers. That being said, there are
some gestures that are so integral to a language that ignoring them is impossible. Such gestures can
widely vary across languages and the world, and making a mistake with them can be disastrous. To
alleviate some of this confusion, incorporating gestures into dictionaries of a specific languageor
country may be helpful, as well as indexing and recording such gestures. This process, though, may
prove to be a complicated endeavor. Gestures, due to their ubiquitous use and arbitrary meanings,
should be indexed conclusively into dictionaries of their corresponding languages and possibly
even resources of their own. Gestureis an incredibly effective way to convey an idea and are an
essential part of many languages. In most languages, gesture serves as a way to emphasize
speech or to say a short phrase without speaking. They have been conventionalized in society,
and while they do not have all the same linguistic properties as words do, their meaning within
their culture is undeniable. As Rousseau says, one speaks more effectively to the eye than to the
ear. (8) It can be hard to mistake something as simple as a head nod or a wave in greeting.
Gestures such as the ones above and others such as thumbs up, now ingrained in social media sites
such as Facebook, are everywhere in

Organic Vs Non Organic Vineyards
Organic vs Non Organic Vineyards
There s many differences between organic vineyards and non organic vineyards. Organic vineyards,
for instance, produce their wine by excluding the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides,
fungicides and herbicides. Non organic vineyards on the other hand, produce their wine by applying
these products. Every year that goes by, our generation is becoming more advanced in the usage
of organic products. Many things sold in groceries stores are now available organically, for
instance fruits and other types of nourishments. The positives and negatives of non organic and
organic vineyards both have good arguments but in my opinion organic vineyards tend to have
more of a positive effect in our society. Whenever something is organic, everyone believes that it
s healthy, but that is not the case, not all organic things are as healthy as they are portrayed to be.
Some negatives of organic wine are that organic wine does not contain sulfite, which people
claim it reduces its shelf life and in some cases changes its flavors ( Clearing up the Confusion
about Organic Wine ). Organic wine also brings a much healthier option to the table; in recent
years it has become more popular throughout the Napa Valley. A positive note about organic wine
is that organic wine doesn t contain artificial chemical fertilizers which could possibly cause some
long term side effects to the human body. One never knows what artificial chemical fertilizers

Is Blackie A Good Dog In The Mixer
In the story The Mixer the Shy Man was dishonest . I believe this because he made Blackie think
that he was a good dog . It is not that I do not think that Blackie is a good dog , but the Shy Man

him treats. The story exactly stated, Good dog, he said now you can have this, after that he gave

The so called Shy Man also snuck into the house Blackie was supposed to be guarding. One reason
why Blackie did not attack or bark was because the Shy Man taught him that when he comes

The Most Influential Text is the Bible
The Bible is widely regarded as perhaps the most influential text in the record of human history.
Both Judaism and Christianity hold the Bible in high spiritual regard, due to its function as the
basis for these two respective religions. The Bible serves as a single divine anthology, comprised
of a series of books that have been meticulously composed by hundreds of authors over hundreds of
years (Armstrong, 2007). Over the course of human history, the stories, lessons, and parables found
within the Biblehave had significant impact on societies all around the world. One of the most
pertinent and interesting topics found within the Bible is the concept of leprosy. The Bible
mentions leprosy in a variety of places, which include segments from both the Old Testamentand
the New Testament. From the book of Exodus to the Holy Gospels of Jesus Christ, leprosy is an
ever present aspect of biblical society. The sufferers of leprosy in the Bible often fall under extreme
social chastisement and are commonly subject to segregation from society in accordance with
ancient scripture (Leviticus 13.46 New Revised Standard Version). Due to the common mention of
leprosy in the Bible, and the somewhat opaque examination of the disease, a number of key
concerns have arisen over the period of the modern era. Through the analysis of what biblical
leprosy constitutes, its prominence within the Old Testament, and its appearances in the New
Testament, readers can more fully understand how biblical

Holocaust Migration Research Paper
Migration: Communist Cleanse
World War II: Yet another instance of mass relocation and genocide of an ethnic group. But what
about after the Holocaust? In December 1944, Prime Minister Winston Churchill stood on the
world s stage and announced the largest forced population transfer in human history the ethnic
cleansing of post war Germany (Douglas). Up until the 1970 s or so, resources written in English
on this particular involuntary migration were nonexistent; even in Europe, the subject is considered
taboo.
British, American, and Russian governments officialized the controversial decision to expel

Conference in 1945. The allied nations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

economic freedom (Nicklin). Others began working peacefully towards the reconstruction of post
war Germany and recognizing those displaced all around Europe (specifically Poland). At about
the same time the Cold War was getting cold, an increasing number of German expellees began to
speak up about their forgotten holocaust. Many created organizations that demanded compensation
for their suffering, especially in West Germany. Still, the Allies kept the discussions to a mum;
some (such as Czechoslovakia) continued to justify the cleansing as a fit punishment for Nazi
crimes and refused to acknowledge the atrocity as anything more. After the fall of the U.S.S.R.
and the reconciliation of East and West Germany, the subject became a slightly more open topic.
After the Nuremberg Trials in 1945 concluded that forced immigration was a crime against
humanity, the issue could no longer be ignored... or so it seemed. Today ethnic cleansing is
considered a crime against international law, although some consider the forced expulsion of
Germans after WWII to have been a legal procedure at the time (seeing as such crimes were not
addressed by the UN Declaration of Human Rights nor the European Convention on Human Rights
in 1950). The expulsion continues to make appearances in modern politics, especially in Europe;
for instance, a declaration in 1997 by the Czech Republic has effectively closed the topic and
attempted to restrict legal claims made by German descendants ( Germans Expelled ). Still, these
immigrants, along with their children, continue to try and demand the property confiscated from
them during the

Lord Of The Flies Themes
GoldingВґs book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes
that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no
hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and
do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way,
which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go
back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as
some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in
them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy
first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all
dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says
this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the
island. To some people, Golding may be hinting that there is no hope for people to be rescued
from times of war. War seems to be ongoing, when one war ends another war begins. Until people
end wars there is no hope for peace in the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ralph learns that Jack plans on having everyone hunt for him is when he speaks with Samneric

it shows a more primitive side of humans, in the way that instead of working something out, they
decide to eliminate the problem all together. Golding makes it seem as if he thinks that humans will

Factors Influencing The Factor Analysis
Factor analysis According to Maria Eva, the factor analysis is a technique in the statistics to
observe variability in the correlated variables in terms of lowers number of unobserved variables,
which is necessary for factorization (Maria Eva, 2012). Dehak, Kenn, Dehak, Dumouchel, Ouellet,
further stated that, the factor analysisis useful technique to investigate the relationship between the
variables in complex concepts and the main purpose of the factor analysis is to reduce the number
of variables associated with the measure and to detect the structures of the relationship between the
variables (Dehak, Kenn, Dehak, Dumouchel, Ouellet, 2011) .
The application of factor analysis widely used in social research (Steinfeld, Navon, Creech,
Yakhini, Tsalenko, 2014). The current study employs factor analysis to reduce the items in the
questionnaire for data reduction as per the recommendations of In addition, the factor analysis is
used to construct the factor based on the items in the scale (Wang Ahmed, 2004). Hence, the factor
analysis is used for data reduction and structuring the variables. Factor analysis has two types as
discussed below, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis (Costello Osborne, 2005).
Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) Costello Osborne, (2005) said that, factor analysis is used to
uncover the structure of relatively large set of variables in the data(Costello Osborne, 2005). EFA

The ABC system will help management analyse the profitability of each customer and restore the
profitability of the company. Allied needs to offer benefits such as modified compensation plan
focused on growing customer revenue and profitability to help encourage sales behaviour. TFC is
able to significantly improve profits by concentrating on individual account management which
SBP is capable of by identifying service costs and calculate the contribution for each account and
then rank the accounts according to profitable ones. TFC should charge its customers based on
their service usage by using cost plus pricing. The customers would be charged based on the cost
of product plus service charge based on SBP systems plus a mark up so that it will be fair to
customers that have the same sales but different level of service.

Realism In Tony Kushner s Angels In America
Angels in America: Millennium Approaches by Tony Kushner can be conventionally defined as
a work of Theatricalism. Breaking the preconceived notions of theatre such as gender casting,
fluent scenes, and varying extremes ranging from characters, to visuals, to the introduction of
historical figures. However, the work strikes a note of realism. We find ourselves encompassed
by passionate actors sharing real emotions with us, scenes based in historical events, and
characters placed in events that we then find to be our own realities. While we find our realities
to be true and heightened by those in the work could it be possible that some of these characters
realities are in fact false, or being defined by the theatricality that surrounds them? Harper serves
as an emotionally charged wife to Joe, who questions not only his sexuality, but her purpose as a
wife. A close read of the play begs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

results in distance and the loss of warmth, which we normally relate to death. She has died, a
part of Joe has died. What can help to reaffirm her as Joe s moral guide, or compass is that
shortly after we see Harper in her cold place Joe commits what we know to be his first sexual act
with a man. His values have died. (3.7 p121 Kushner) Within in her cold place Harper further has
the ability to create it s bounds and limitations, which is unique and signifies that she is other

facts, what she says becomes the reality of the place. Something that no other character in the play
has yet to do. (3.3 p107

Weakness In The Crucible
The crucible was a very interesting and a mixture of everything kind of play. There s a statement
that describes of how thrilling the crucible is, The crucible is essentially about courage,
weakness and truth . I totally agree with the statement and it s true so I ve got evidence and
examples to prove the statement s credibility. First of all, the characters got the courage and
confidence to face every awful truth, with the exception of John Proctor s affair with Abigail
but I believe that he suffered from guilt, he was willing to have a challenge with the court and
the religious authorities when he saw that they are missing the truth of everything that s going
around. Elizabeth was also very courageous and always try to stuck to the truth no matter the
consequences except for once when she lied to protect John s life from adultery charges. Also
on of the sad and touching moments of how can someone be brave when Giles Corey was
threatened to death in a violent manner but he kept his strength and until the very end, in act four

The Hazards of Space Travel for the Human Body
In the year 2042, aerospace engineers continue to struggle with the challenge of a manned mission
to mars. Biomedical complications disrupt any advancements in the effort, as astronaut safety is
considered the most fundamental aspect of a successful mission. In order to study the effects of
weightlessness and radiation in a deep space environment, NASA launches a government funded
space station into high earth orbit. The astronaut s medical health is studied over a six month
period, as their bodies adapt to the low gravity environment and radiation becomes a crucial
concern.

As an organism in a hostile environment, precautions must be made.
An astronaut must maintain peak physical health to ideally preform and adapt to a space
environment. In order to minimize the extent of medical concerns, strict medical standards are
established to guarantee the correct crew for the mission. Designed by surgeons and experts in
aerospace medicine, the regulations mirrored those of the U.S Air force. Extensive consideration is
taken in the categories of blood pressure, radiation exposure, hearing, dental health, and precise
body composition. Annual medical certification examinations are conducted by flight medicine
physicians. These exams insure that the crew is not only fit for space flight, but also for training.
Crew members are given a supporting exam at launch, as well as two days after landing (Risin).
The information found in these last minute exams is used to analyze the effects of space travel on
the astronauts.
Only 7 missions in American history included biomedical objectives as a goal amongst each
operations highest priorities. As of May 1961 to May 1963, Project Mercury was conducted to
assess the ability for man to survive in an environment outside of earth. The endeavor completed
four orbital missions and two sub orbital flights, the longest of which lasted 34 hours. Although the

Changes in Human Behavior Based on Social Situations and...
The study of human interaction is a part of the study of social psychology. How humans interact
in social situations has long been an area of much curiosity among people who study human
behavior. Do we change when we are in the company of others? Do we conform to certain
societal rules even though we may not agree with them? What do we get out of the way that we
interact with others acceptance, satisfaction or misery? Undoubtedly, there are cultural factors
that play a part in how we act with others. What kind of society one lives in culturally and
politically speaking can play a major role in how people interact with one another. For example,
someone living in China will interact with others in a way that someone from the United States
will because the cultures and the political climate are so different. This paper will look at a couple
of ways in which humanbehaviorchanges based on social situations and will look at the precursors
and consequences of those behaviors in terms of social psychologyconcepts. It will then address
whether or not those certain behaviors that are exhibited necessitate therapeutic intervention.
Groupthink is a phenomenon that was first brought to the attention of the psychological community
by a social psychologist named Irving Janis. According to Janis (1972), Groupthink happens when
a group of people makes flawed decisions because group pressures lead to a breakdown of mental
efficiency, reality testing, and moral judgment (p. 9). Some

The Most Influential Person in My life, My Nanny
As children grow, they always look up to someone special in their life someone that they can
trust and is always there for them. This person is someone that they admire and hope to be like
someday. The person that I ve described best fits my Nanny. She knows all the right things and is
there whenever I need her. My Nanny is one of the most important people in my life and I m so
esthetic that I have her. It took me ten years when I was finally old enough to realize what an
extraordinary influence my nanny has been in my life. My Nanny has made very careful and

all of my firsts that occurred as an infant. Most of these instances all came to be because of her. I

out that the perpetrator creates the illusion that the victim is in control by saying things like I can t

If people were to hear the number 3,600, some would note that it is large, while others would say
the number is small. It is all comparative; it depends on the person, depends on the number,
depends on the unit that number is in. In tangible objects, 3,600 lightbulbs is enough to light the
homes in a neighborhood, and many would agree that it is large. In grains of sand, it s not even
enough to form a zen garden. But 3,600 represents the number of seconds in an hour, a timeframe in
which people can take as a short or long amount of time. Isn t it fascinating how a number as large
as 3,600 can be synonymous with a number as small as one?

The X s placed on the calendar symbolize the countdown of each passing day. When those X s
fill a page on the calendar, a month has gone by and before you know it, the year has passed.
Perhaps this is why calendars are always adorned with beautiful photography or adorable photos
of puppies; to soften the blow and distract from the idea that life is passing by. It seems so strange
that days are constantly passing and with the celebration of every birthday, we are truly celebrating
another year closer to the eminent end of our lives.
With that idea looming on the mind, I wonder, why do humans let something as artificial as time
hold them back and control their whole life? Humans created time. They transformed the
concept of the Earth orbiting the Sun into a tangible tick on a clock. It is possible to physically
watch time pass down to the second: to watch the seconds of our lives fleeting. Time is merely a
concept that has become a do all end all. If we know that life could simply end at any minute, why
is it that we are always waiting for the right moment ?
People miss so many opportunities waiting for the right moments . They wait for a certain feeling,
like the earth will somehow send them a sign telling them to take a chance. Opportunities cannot
just spell themselves out. People have to decide for themselves when to take a chance,

Economic definitions of productivity usually centre on its wealth creating potential. Language such
as satisfying market needs and maximizing input/output relationships are typical.
Productivity centers in Japan, Singapore and Malaysia talk of productivity being a state of mind
and the will to continually improve the faith in progress. According to the Productivity Committee
of the European Productivity Agency, mind set is the most fundamental factor in achieving
productivity growth where productivity is defined as an attitude of mind that strives for and
achieves the habit for improvement as well as the system and sets of practices that translate that
attitude into action.
The more sophisticated definitions address directly the involvement of all the resources or factors
of production that are available and generate measures of total factor productivity.
Strong linkages exist between total factor productivity and the financial performance of individual
organizations. High levels of total factor productivity will lead to high (and sustainable) levels of
profitability. Other definitions refer specifically to the relationship between output and labour, or

Engagement with Disney Princesses on Gender Stereotypes, Body Esteem, and Prosocial Behavior
in Children was published in 2016. Sarah M. Coyne (Brigham Young University), Jennifer Ruh
Linder (Linfield College), Eric E. Rasmussen (Texas Tech University), and David A. Nelson and
Victoria Birkbeck (Brigham Young University
) discuss in writing the connotative and denotative
effects of a gender stereotyped society. They research the effects of Disney Princess culture and
emphasize the characteristics developed within the minority of preschool and kindergarten age
children, especially females, that potentially are exposed to the Disney Princess chain. The
audience for the author s message is a wide range of groups and individuals, but, at its widest scope,
the research project is intended for multinational media corporations, specifically those of whom are
based in the United States, target the control group (preschoolers and kindergarteners), and have the
opportunity to incorporate gender stereotypical characters into their products.
Although other readers will also find the results useful, especially other social science workers, the
professional medium and high profile endorsements and financial support given to this project
correlates directly with the large scale audience it is intended for. With respect to the genre through
which the Pretty as a Princess (Abbreviated)

Employee Teacher Reflection
Portfolio
It has now come to my understanding that as a trainee teacher, it is vital that I become a reflective
practitioner when fostering the role of a teacher. In support of this, Tripp (2012, p.12) adds that
being reflective is an essential part of the development of professional judgement . He continues to
state that one must be able to examine and critique their teaching to build on their own professional
values and ideas.
It is through this theory that as a trainee teacher, I must be able to examine my own critical
incident from my school based training placement (SBT1). I will be employing Tripp s four
approaches of analysis Thinking Strategies, The Why? Challenge, Dilemma Identification and
Personal Theory Analysis (Tripp, 2012, pp. 43 54). However, before I start my analysis, it is
important to identify what a critical incident is. Tripp (2012) states that critical incidents are
shaped by the way we look at a situation. He further adds that a critical incident is an interpretation
of the significance of an event (p. 8).
The context of my incident took place in a year four class within the Borough of Barking and
Dagenham. It consisted of me teaching a whole class Literacy lesson where the majority of the
pupils were considered or categorised as having English as an additional language.
Incident
My critical incident occurred in the last week of my placement. I was teaching a sequence of
Literacy lessons to a class of 27 students. The objective of the

The Impact Of Morse Code And The Telegraph
What hath God wrought? This message, the first of its kind to be sent instantly over a long
distance was transmitted back in 1844. While it may seem insignificant, this series of clinks was
what started the era of communication. Morse code is a system created by Samuel F. B. Morse
that uses dits and dahs sent over an electromagnetic box to relate messages. Throughout its growth,
it has aided in many wars and led to new inventions like the radio and telephone. While it s not used
today, it s important to know its historical impact. Imperative in paving the way for a new era of
communication and the advancement of long distance communication, Morse codeand the telegraph
also aided in the Industrial Revolution.

The finalized version of Morse code was created in 1873 with the help of Alfred Vail.
1.Three years later, they patented the code system Telegraph signals.
III.Along with the creation of Morse code, the telegraph also began to develop.
A.The first telegraph was built in 1843 after the patent was approved by the United States Congress.
1.From Washington to Baltimore, the line stretched over 40 miles and cost 30,000 dollars to
construct.
B.Later Samuel Morse and a few associates formed the Magnetic Telegraph company after the US
government declined the purchase of the patent.
1.In the telegraph industry, it was very competitive with over 50 other competing companies.
C.Due to the competition, in 1851, the New York and Mississippi Valley Telegraph
company(NYMVTC) was formed.
1.Their first was partnering with Cyrus Field to create the first transatlantic cable.
2.While the line was being built, Samuel Morse was working as the team s electrician.
D.Five years later, the NYMVTC merged with the Western Union Telegraph company after they
began work on a transcontinental telegraph line.

Nwoye likewise forms a strong attachment to the newcomer. Despite his fondness for
Ikemefuna and despite the fact that the boy begins to call him father, Okonkwo does not let
himself show any affection for him. During the Week of Peace, Okonkwo accuses his youngest
wife, Ojiugo, of negligence. He severely beats her, breaking the peace of the sacred week. He
makes some sacrifices to show his repentance, but he has shocked his community irreparably.
Ikemefuna stays with Okonkwo s family for three years. Nwoye looks up to him as an older
brother and, much to Okonkwo s pleasure, develops a more masculine attitude. One day, the
locusts come to Umuofia they will come every year for seven years before disappearing for
another generation. The village excitedly collects them because they are good to eat when
cooked. Ogbuefi Ezeudu, a respected village elder, informs Okonkwo in private that the Oracle
has said that Ikemefuna must be killed. He tells Okonkwo that because Ikemefuna calls him father,
Okonkwo should not take part in the boy s death. Okonkwo lies to Ikemefuna, telling him that they
must return him to his home village. Nwoye bursts into tears. As he walks with the men of
Umuofia, Ikemefuna thinks about seeing his mother. After several hours of walking, some of
Okonkwo s clansmen attack the boy with machetes. Ikemefuna runs to Okonkwo for help. But

In the video The Confessions presented by Frontline, a murder of a women that was committed by
one man, quickly resulted into a false gang murder rape scene committed by eight men. The victim,
Michelle Bosko, was seen to be raped and killed in her apartment in Norfolk, Virginia. From the
video, it has been proven that seven out of the eight men that confessed were innocent, but
somehow they all received an unequal punishment. Because the innocent men admitted to a murder
that they didn t commit out of fear, they were all sentenced to some time in prison. The head
detective, Glenn Ford, intimidated the men so much that they either were convinced that they were
at the crime scene or they told him every detail that he wanted to hear.... Show more content on

The fact that Ford had to men so afraid disturbs me because I never knew that someone could
make up an entire lie of something that never happened. But because they are afraid, they are able
to picture themselves in a crime scene that they were nowhere near. Though the results of the lie
detector tests that were taken by all of the men were never explained or read to them, the police
made the men think that they failed the polygraph test even though they passed it. In a recent
interview that Ballard gave from prison, he tells Frontline that he committed the murder all by
himself and that he understands why the men committed to a murder that they didn t commit. He
understood that he men confessed out of fear and said anything just so that Ford would get out
of their faces. Even after the murder and the men were seem as not guilty, they still had to face
circumstances in their outside worlds. The men were now considered as sex offenders and it was
hard for them to get a good job because of their background. Every year, the men have to register as
a sex offender due to the fact that they gave false confessions out of intimidation. At the end
however, Glenn Ford was indicted for receiving money from defendants in exchange for a better
treatment in prison. Although the men didn t get the justice they needed right away, their lawyers
were not finished with the case and they were soon to get them the justice that they deserved. In
conclusion, this video

Science and Technology in Modern Society
This study was conducted on South Padre Island, Texas, along the extreme southern portion of the
Texas Gulf Coast
(Figure 1). This area has several populations of black mangrove. Two different black mangrove
populations served as study sites, designated as sites 1 (26u59 N, 97u109 W) and 2 (26u89 N,
97u109 W). The two sites were approximately 5.5 km apart. Color infrared aerial photography and
computer image analysis techniques were used for this study. Kodak CIR
(0.50 mm to 0.90 mm) type 2443 film was used for the aerial photography. Photography was
obtained with a large format
(23 3 23 cm) mapping camera. The camera had an aperture setting of f11 at 1/250 seconds and a
305 mm lens equipped with a Wratten 15 orange (minus blue) filter
Although the terms science and technology are commonly used in conjunction with each other, it is
important to recognize an important distinction between the two. The term science is derived from
the Latin words scientia ( knowledge ) and scire ( to know) and refers to a systematic and rational
approach to investigating natural phenomena through a combination of observations,
experimentation and testing of hypotheses (all of which are elements of the scientific method
which will be discussed in greater detail in Chapter 3). Science is thus a philosophy of inquiry that
seeks to gain new knowledge of natural phenomena regardless of whether or not any practical
applications for such knowledge

The Three Primary Sources Of Temptation In The Bible
1 Cor. 10:12 14HOW TO TAME TEMPTATION
Intro: Ill. How an Eskimo kills a wolf. (He will repeatedly coat the blade in blood,
allowing it to freeze, until the blade is covered. Then, he will placethe knife in the
snow and as the wolf licks the blood, his tongue is numbed, and his hunger is fueled.
The wolf will lick the knife, cut his own tongue and eventaully bleed himself to death out
of his own lusts.) Satan uses the same tactic to defeat God s children. He knows that he can
never have your soul, but he also knows if he can cause us to succumb to temptation, then we
will become powerless and useless as Christians.
Salvation is not a barrier to temptation! On the contrary, Satan is more
likely to attack the Christian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
B. To Overcome The Flesh We Need Flight The key to defeating fleshly
temptations is to flee from them. (Ill. 1 Cor. 6:18 flee fornication ; 1 Cor.
10:14 flee idolatry ; 2 Tim. 2:22 flee youthful lusts ) (Ill. You cannot
expose yourself to fleshly temptation and expect to walk away untouched
Pro. 6:27 Ill. Situations to avoid!) (Ill. Joseph and Potipher s wife Gen.
39:12)
C. To Overcome The World We Need Faith Faith that Jesuswill take care
of us when we willingly give up the attachment to worldly things. If we are
loving the world, we are not loving God 1 John 2:15; James 4:4. If you
really want victory over the world, then love Jesus more than you love it
Heb. 12:2. Ill. It is our faith in him that offers us the victory 1 John 5:4.
D. To Overcome The Devil We Must Fight If we stand up to him and fight,
he will flee James 4:7. Ill. You cannot run away from him, but you can
drive him away from you. You must face him in the power of the shed
blood of Jesus Christ. He doesn t fear you, but he trembles before the blood
of the Lamb! Fight Satan and he will flee! (Ill. Eph. 4:27; 1 Pet. 5:8)

Discourse Community Examples
What is a discourse community? A discourse community is an interactive group that shares
common discourses. Meaning that they share a common set of values that similar towards
others. Most of society belongs to a discourse community that share values or even similar
personalities. The discourse communities I joined needed to reflect my personality. For
example, I like culture and I like to involve myself in some culture based activities such as Art or
even Culinary Arts. Ideally experiencing diverse cultures other than my own would directly
geared towards my personality traits. Here are a few. My personality is more of an introverted
style; it mostly consists of my shyness near groups. I love taking care of children and teaching, but

Learning music was not a challenge for me, especially since I grew up in musically gifted
families. Honestly math came easy for me, mostly because I was taught to keep up with the
tempo of the music. Thankfully playing in the band came naturally for me and I liked the
challenge in trying to learn an instrument. My school performed at a couple of competitions and
a few concerts as well. I continued playing until my sophomore year in high school, I lost interest
in high school; it seemed like it was more of a chore rather something to enjoy and the students
made it difficult for me to perform so, I forced myself to leave. Before I quit the band in my
sophomore year I joined the culinary arts club and the art society. I always loved making food, I
started cooking around 6 to 7 years old under supervision of course. Slowly my parents had me
help out in the kitchen, then they let me practice making baked goods and later, they started to let
cook by myself. I watched cooking shows too, and I would just read the cooking books for hours
just to know if we had the ingredients

A Twisted Hero Definition
A twisted hero is someone who demonstrates great leadership skills, manipulation tactics, and can
lead a group of people to success, but does it in a warped or unethical manner. This is because
someone who is twisted is, by definition, warped or has an unhealthy way of thinking. However,
a hero is defined as a person who is admired or idealized for their courage, noble qualities, and
outstanding achievements. They are perceived as mighty protectors and great leaders who can do
amazing acts. They can bring success and wealth to people, and lead them towards prosperity. When
these terms, twisted and hero, are combined, it gives us the base definitionof a twisted hero. There
are two categories that define a hero, which are traditional heroes and twisted heroes. A
traditional hero and twisted hero are seen as the same by some people, but when compared to a
traditional hero, a twisted hero has few similarities and many differences. Most traditional
heroes are the good guys; they fight for and protect what is right. In comparison, a twisted hero
fights for what he or she thinks is right, and disregards the safety or feelings of others. Traditional
heroes are also often revered for their courage, achievements, and noble qualities. They are
looked up to by others and can be idolized or admired by the greater public. In the case of a twisted
hero, they are looked up to but not for the same reasons. Twisted heroes are looked up to out of
fear and because their power demands it,

  • 2. Gender in African WomenВґs Writing Essay The identity of African women juxtaposed to the Western women s identity is a hard concept for one to grasp. The word feminism is merely looked at from one perspective, the western perspective. The reality of feminism is that everywhere in the world has a different idea of what feminism is defined as and what it should look like. However there is one central theme that applies to feminists around the world, which is a feminist is someone who goes against traditional roles of a womanin their society to better their genderas a whole. These strong, and independent African women authors use insightful and educational language, which invites the western world to be a part of their world through the power of literature. One of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the African feminist is a woman who does not stay In a loveless marriage, she does not allow herself to remain uneducated, and she certainly does not allow herself to be categorized as a minority. In order for a woman to achieve these goals she has to take extreme risks and jeopardize the one life she knows. The term rebel has been used often when African women describe themselves and from their definition a rebel is a feminist. In Aidoo s, Changes we are introduced to a woman who has so much self respect for herself that she transforms herself into an African feminist. She takes a modern stance on femininity and this is refreshing change. This woman refuses to be walked all over by some man who tells her what she can and cannot do. She leaves the life she knows and risks it all in order to be free and feel that no one is judging her for having a high paying job as a female. Women are often worried how other females will judge them and or be jealous of their accomplishments. It is women like this that make women all over the world see the many possibilities that lay before them, no matter what their current situation. Women in Africawho do not rebel and sadly do not become a feminist are grouped in a category that one could consider as the outsiders . Women who fear to be feminists fall into a trap, which becomes a vicious cycle and makes it almost impossible for them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both men symbolize the two forces which fought in the Civil War ( Lee and Grant , 1). Sherman Alexie The Joy Of Reading Academic Blog Post: EJ Goings (9/4/2015) Thinking back on all of the academic posts that we have worked on, I believe that there is some sort of pattern between Villanueva, Mellix, and Alexie stories. All have been able to overcome struggle, face adversity, and strive and maintain excellence in mastering English and literacy skills. Their adversity allowed them to grow internally, allowing their external layer to be polished and perfected. In the Alexie piece, Alexie believed that Indian children were expected to be stupid . (Sherman Alexie, The Joy of Reading and Writing) When a child expectations are low and they are told they will not amount to anything, they begin to believe and process those thoughts. Thus, making it very hard for a child to learn at their own rate. I highly believe that a support system is needed in order to become successful in not only a school system, but life as well. Hidden Essay Anna Willingham Dr. Joan Kennedy English 1302 April 8, 2011 The Hidden Personality The essay He Would Never Hurt a Fly: War Criminals on Trial in The Hague Written by Slavenka Drakulic in 2004 recaptures the life in Yugoslavia during the ethnic War and a crucial period of the dissolving country. This period of life was the 60 s and the generation was healthy there was no formula, cotton diapers, and no danger (Drakulic 1118). It is debated in the essay that Goran was a narcissistic and antisocial personality determined by two psychiatrists (Drakulic 1122), or was he a victim of the war that lead him to kill for eighteen days. Another theory was that he was forced and afraid of his life. I find it ironic that he plead guilty and was willing to take his punishment with no defense. This essay showed how we all are a victim of our upbringing and surroundings. It portrays a life of a normal human that had goals and ambitions but failed due to power of one s inner soul. You can t help but feel that Goran was a victim and not just a killer that turned, with the blink of an eye into a monster. He pretended to be God and got a high of showing his power by executing prisoners (Drakulic 1125). He was a young farm mechanic given a pistol and power that he had never received before, but had longed for his whole life. It seems like Goran could have been anyone of us from the grocery store clerk, the CEO of a big corporation, or the stay at home mother that had just had enough. The human race is a complex breed that at any point we can be pushed over the edge. Looks can be deceiving and while everything appears to be put together the inner battle within ones soul could portray a monster waiting to be pushed over the edge. I believe that no one is brought into this world evil; they are a product of their environments that forms their inner demons. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although he never went to college, he proved that genius cannot be tied down to the rules of the academy. Chesterton, in fact, chose to be a journalist, because in that role he could think most profoundly, powerfully, and effectively. He was vitally concerned with the injustices of Great Britain to its dependencies. He progressed from newspaper to public debate. He used logic, laughter, paradox, and his own winning personality to show that imperialism was destroying English patriotism. In 1900 he published his first literary works, two volumes of poetry. In 1900 he met Hilaire Belloc, and in 1901 he married Frances Blogg. These events were two of the great influences in his life. From 1904 to 1936 Chesterton published nearly a dozen novels, the most important being The Napoleon of Notting Hill (1904) and The Man Who Was Thursday (1908). In 1911 Chesterton created the Father Brown detective stories. During his literary career he published 90 books and numerous articles. He poured out a wealth of lighthearted essays, historical sketches, and metaphysical and polemical works, together with such well known poems as The Ballad of the White Horse, Lepanto, and the drinking songs from The Flying Inn. • 9. How Does William Goldman Use Situational Irony In The... Satire is the use of humor, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize a person s someone s shortcomings and vices. In William Goldman s The Princess Bride, satire is evident through his use of irony and ridicule, which he uses to mock different aspects of traditional fairy tales. Situational irony is also used to satericalize the flaws of several characters, mocking their flaws, and making them laughable. Lighthouse Project Intership Lighthouse Project is a pediatrics mental health clinic that integrates therapies, such as play therapy, to assist children in overcoming problems at home and in school due to their disorders and disabilities. The staff at Lighthouse Project split their time between clinic based work in their San Jose clinic and school based work at various Gilroy school districts. At the clinic the staff works strictly with high functioning children, providing both individual and group therapysessions, similarly, in the school based setting they do individual and group sessions, however, the individuals worked with are both low and high functioning. The purpose of the Lighthouse Project clinic is to incorporate different programs to engage the child and improve abilities that are debilitating, this is done with programs at the clinic involving social skills development, sensory integration and sensory processing, as well as fine motor/handwriting skills. At the schools the purpose is to close or minimize the gap between how much the child can achieve on their own and what other classmates are able to achieve on their own, the basic ideology is to have the child be able to achieve specific goals that those in their grade level are able to do, such as by first grade the child should be able to cut out outlines on paper with scissor, however some of our children are unable to do so and instead can only manage to snip the paper. Apart from sign languages, gestures, or talking with one s hands, largely go unnoticed by a majority of speakers. That being said, there are some gestures that are so integral to a language that ignoring them is impossible. Such gestures can widely vary across languages and the world, and making a mistake with them can be disastrous. To alleviate some of this confusion, incorporating gestures into dictionaries of a specific languageor country may be helpful, as well as indexing and recording such gestures. This process, though, may prove to be a complicated endeavor. Gestures, due to their ubiquitous use and arbitrary meanings, should be indexed conclusively into dictionaries of their corresponding languages and possibly even resources of their own. Gestureis an incredibly effective way to convey an idea and are an essential part of many languages. In most languages, gesture serves as a way to emphasize speech or to say a short phrase without speaking. They have been conventionalized in society, and while they do not have all the same linguistic properties as words do, their meaning within their culture is undeniable. As Rousseau says, one speaks more effectively to the eye than to the ear. (8) It can be hard to mistake something as simple as a head nod or a wave in greeting. • 12. Organic Vs Non Organic Vineyards Organic vs Non Organic Vineyards There s many differences between organic vineyards and non organic vineyards. Organic vineyards, for instance, produce their wine by excluding the use of artificial chemical fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. Non organic vineyards on the other hand, produce their wine by applying these products. Every year that goes by, our generation is becoming more advanced in the usage of organic products. Many things sold in groceries stores are now available organically, for instance fruits and other types of nourishments. The positives and negatives of non organic and organic vineyards both have good arguments but in my opinion organic vineyards tend to have more of a positive effect in our society. Whenever something is organic, everyone believes that it s healthy, but that is not the case, not all organic things are as healthy as they are portrayed to be. Some negatives of organic wine are that organic wine does not contain sulfite, which people claim it reduces its shelf life and in some cases changes its flavors ( Clearing up the Confusion about Organic Wine ). Organic wine also brings a much healthier option to the table; in recent years it has become more popular throughout the Napa Valley. A positive note about organic wine is that organic wine doesn t contain artificial chemical fertilizers which could possibly cause some long term side effects to the human body. • 14. The Most Influential Text is the Bible The Bible is widely regarded as perhaps the most influential text in the record of human history. Both Judaism and Christianity hold the Bible in high spiritual regard, due to its function as the basis for these two respective religions. The Bible serves as a single divine anthology, comprised of a series of books that have been meticulously composed by hundreds of authors over hundreds of years (Armstrong, 2007). Over the course of human history, the stories, lessons, and parables found within the Biblehave had significant impact on societies all around the world. One of the most pertinent and interesting topics found within the Bible is the concept of leprosy. The Bible mentions leprosy in a variety of places, which include segments from both the Old Testamentand the New Testament. From the book of Exodus to the Holy Gospels of Jesus Christ, leprosy is an ever present aspect of biblical society. The sufferers of leprosy in the Bible often fall under extreme social chastisement and are commonly subject to segregation from society in accordance with ancient scripture (Leviticus 13.46 New Revised Standard Version). Due to the common mention of leprosy in the Bible, and the somewhat opaque examination of the disease, a number of key concerns have arisen over the period of the modern era. Through the analysis of what biblical leprosy constitutes, its prominence within the Old Testament, and its appearances in the New Testament, readers can more fully understand how biblical ... Up until the 1970 s or so, resources written in English on this particular involuntary migration were nonexistent; even in Europe, the subject is considered taboo. Many created organizations that demanded compensation for their suffering, especially in West Germany. Still, the Allies kept the discussions to a mum; some (such as Czechoslovakia) continued to justify the cleansing as a fit punishment for Nazi crimes and refused to acknowledge the atrocity as anything more. After the fall of the U.S.S.R. and the reconciliation of East and West Germany, the subject became a slightly more open topic. After the Nuremberg Trials in 1945 concluded that forced immigration was a crime against humanity, the issue could no longer be ignored... or so it seemed. Today ethnic cleansing is considered a crime against international law, although some consider the forced expulsion of Germans after WWII to have been a legal procedure at the time (seeing as such crimes were not addressed by the UN Declaration of Human Rights nor the European Convention on Human Rights in 1950). The expulsion continues to make appearances in modern politics, especially in Europe; for instance, a declaration in 1997 by the Czech Republic has effectively closed the topic and attempted to restrict legal claims made by German descendants ( Germans Expelled ). • 16. Lord Of The Flies Themes GoldingВґs book The Lord of the Flies has many different background meanings to it. Two themes that some critics think of are that people are born with evil already in them and that there is no hope for humanity. These themes are shown throughout the book in what the characters say and do. In this book there are many conflicts where the boys bully each other in an inhumane way, which shows how evil they really are. Also the boys lose hope for being rescued and start to go back to the more primitive ways of mankind. Golding definitely comes across in his work as some who may think that there is no hope for mankind and that all people are born with evil in them. One of the first examples of there being a theme for no hope for humanity is what Piggy first says to Ralph. Ralph and Piggy are arguing (pg. 14) and Piggy says They re all dead...Nobody don t know we re here. Your dad don t know, nobody don t know. When he says this, Piggy shows the reader that he thinks there is no hope for them to be rescued from the island. Breaking the preconceived notions of theatre such as gender casting, fluent scenes, and varying extremes ranging from characters, to visuals, to the introduction of historical figures. However, the work strikes a note of realism. We find ourselves encompassed by passionate actors sharing real emotions with us, scenes based in historical events, and characters placed in events that we then find to be our own realities. While we find our realities to be true and heightened by those in the work could it be possible that some of these characters realities are in fact false, or being defined by the theatricality that surrounds them? In order to minimize the extent of medical concerns, strict medical standards are established to guarantee the correct crew for the mission. Designed by surgeons and experts in aerospace medicine, the regulations mirrored those of the U.S Air force. Extensive consideration is taken in the categories of blood pressure, radiation exposure, hearing, dental health, and precise body composition. How humans interact in social situations has long been an area of much curiosity among people who study human behavior. Do we change when we are in the company of others? Do we conform to certain societal rules even though we may not agree with them? What do we get out of the way that we interact with others acceptance, satisfaction or misery? Undoubtedly, there are cultural factors that play a part in how we act with others. What kind of society one lives in culturally and politically speaking can play a major role in how people interact with one another. For example, someone living in China will interact with others in a way that someone from the United States will because the cultures and the political climate are so different. This paper will look at a couple of ways in which humanbehaviorchanges based on social situations and will look at the precursors and consequences of those behaviors in terms of social psychologyconcepts. It will then address whether or not those certain behaviors that are exhibited necessitate therapeutic intervention. Groupthink is a phenomenon that was first brought to the attention of the psychological community by a social psychologist named Irving Janis. According to Janis (1972), Groupthink happens when a group of people makes flawed decisions because group pressures lead to a breakdown of mental efficiency, reality testing, and moral judgment (p. 9). • 39. Disney Princess Stereotypes Introduction Written by a collaboration of research authors, Pretty as a Princess: Longitudinal Effects of Engagement with Disney Princesses on Gender Stereotypes, Body Esteem, and Prosocial Behavior in Children was published in 2016. Sarah M. Coyne (Brigham Young University), Jennifer Ruh Linder (Linfield College), Eric E. Rasmussen (Texas Tech University), and David A. Nelson and Victoria Birkbeck (Brigham Young University ) discuss in writing the connotative and denotative effects of a gender stereotyped society. They research the effects of Disney Princess culture and emphasize the characteristics developed within the minority of preschool and kindergarten age children, especially females, that potentially are exposed to the Disney Princess chain. The audience for the author s message is a wide range of groups and individuals, but, at its widest scope, the research project is intended for multinational media corporations, specifically those of whom are based in the United States, target the control group (preschoolers and kindergarteners), and have the opportunity to incorporate gender stereotypical characters into their products. Although other readers will also find the results useful, especially other social science workers, the professional medium and high profile endorsements and financial support given to this project correlates directly with the large scale audience it is intended for. • 40. Employee Teacher Reflection Portfolio It has now come to my understanding that as a trainee teacher, it is vital that I become a reflective practitioner when fostering the role of a teacher. In support of this, Tripp (2012, p.12) adds that being reflective is an essential part of the development of professional judgement . He continues to state that one must be able to examine and critique their teaching to build on their own professional values and ideas. It is through this theory that as a trainee teacher, I must be able to examine my own critical incident from my school based training placement (SBT1). I will be employing Tripp s four approaches of analysis Thinking Strategies, The Why? Challenge, Dilemma Identification and Personal Theory Analysis (Tripp, 2012, pp. 43 54). However, before I start my analysis, it is important to identify what a critical incident is. Tripp (2012) states that critical incidents are shaped by the way we look at a situation. He further adds that a critical incident is an interpretation of the significance of an event (p. 8). The context of my incident took place in a year four class within the Borough of Barking and Dagenham. It consisted of me teaching a whole class Literacy lesson where the majority of the pupils were considered or categorised as having English as an additional language. Incident My critical incident occurred in the last week of my placement. I was teaching a sequence of Literacy lessons to a class of 27 students. The objective of the ... In the video The Confessions presented by Frontline, a murder of a women that was committed by one man, quickly resulted into a false gang murder rape scene committed by eight men. The victim, Michelle Bosko, was seen to be raped and killed in her apartment in Norfolk, Virginia. From the video, it has been proven that seven out of the eight men that confessed were innocent, but somehow they all received an unequal punishment. Because the innocent men admitted to a murder that they didn t commit out of fear, they were all sentenced to some time in prison. The head detective, Glenn Ford, intimidated the men so much that they either were convinced that they were at the crime scene or they told him every detail that he wanted to hear.... But because they are afraid, they are able to picture themselves in a crime scene that they were nowhere near. Though the results of the lie detector tests that were taken by all of the men were never explained or read to them, the police made the men think that they failed the polygraph test even though they passed it. In a recent interview that Ballard gave from prison, he tells Frontline that he committed the murder all by himself and that he understands why the men committed to a murder that they didn t commit. He understood that he men confessed out of fear and said anything just so that Ford would get out of their faces. Even after the murder and the men were seem as not guilty, they still had to face circumstances in their outside worlds. The men were now considered as sex offenders and it was hard for them to get a good job because of their background. Every year, the men have to register as a sex offender due to the fact that they gave false confessions out of intimidation. At the end however, Glenn Ford was indicted for receiving money from defendants in exchange for a better treatment in prison. The camera had an aperture setting of f11 at 1/250 seconds and a 305 mm lens equipped with a Wratten 15 orange (minus blue) filter Although the terms science and technology are commonly used in conjunction with each other, it is important to recognize an important distinction between the two. The term science is derived from the Latin words scientia ( knowledge ) and scire ( to know) and refers to a systematic and rational approach to investigating natural phenomena through a combination of observations, experimentation and testing of hypotheses (all of which are elements of the scientific method which will be discussed in greater detail in Chapter 3). Science is thus a philosophy of inquiry that seeks to gain new knowledge of natural phenomena regardless of whether or not any practical applications for such knowledge ... Then, he will placethe knife in the snow and as the wolf licks the blood, his tongue is numbed, and his hunger is fueled. The wolf will lick the knife, cut his own tongue and eventaully bleed himself to death out of his own lusts.) Satan uses the same tactic to defeat God s children. A Twisted Hero Definition A twisted hero is someone who demonstrates great leadership skills, manipulation tactics, and can lead a group of people to success, but does it in a warped or unethical manner. This is because someone who is twisted is, by definition, warped or has an unhealthy way of thinking. However, a hero is defined as a person who is admired or idealized for their courage, noble qualities, and outstanding achievements. In comparison, a twisted hero fights for what he or she thinks is right, and disregards the safety or feelings of others. Traditional heroes are also often revered for their courage, achievements, and noble qualities. They are looked up to by others and can be idolized or admired by the greater public.
