Seaside Heights Research Paper
Seaside Heights is a popular destination located in the Ocean County of New Jersey, primarily
because along with the Beach it has an amusement oriented Boardwalk. The Boardwalk is one of
the busiest at the Shore. The community is also the location of popular MTV Show Jersey
Shore. As i am very fond of beaches and have already covered more than 10 of them this year
(some had lighthouses too), i couldn t have left this one out. So, with much excitement, we left
one Sunday afternoon for Manasquan, which is on the way to Seaside Heights. We spent a bit of
time at a beach in Manasquan. The place was not crowded at all, maybe because there is too
much to do just a few miles away at Seaside Heights. However, calmness has its own beauty and

Role Of Customs And Border Protection
1 What is the role of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in securing trade in maritime ports?
The role of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is to ensure all goods and people coming
into the United States lawful and keeping contraband and WMD out of the United States.
Additionally Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is responsible for international trade in and out
of the United States. The policies and enforcement of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
can make or break trade within the United States. The sole goal of Customs and Border Protection
(CBP) is to protect the nations from all threats, while at the same time maintaining a balance trade

2 The Global Transportation System (GTS) has a big impact on just about every aspect of our daily
life. Certainly, Port Management Security is well aware of the economic impact and the threat of
disruption to the GTS. What are the four components of the GTS (air, sea, land, and rail transport
systems) and what are the subsequent critical infrastructure within each that support these
components of the GTS. The Global Transportation System (GTS) touches every aspect of
human life. From the food we eat to the clothes we wear, they are all moved within the Global
Transportation System GTS. Passenger travel from continent to continent using the Global
Transportation System GTS. Even troops and equipment for war is moved within the GTS.
Simply without the GTS and its four components of air, sea, land, and rail transports life would
not be possible for much of the world. The size of the GTS has continue to grow due to more
business operating now on a global scale. In addition, free trade through numerous agreements has
open up opportunities worldwide. With the amount of goods and people being moved, be able to
secure port either air or surface becomes that much difficult. The

Creation Myth Essay
Myth still remains one of the major links that merges the different cultures and religions from
various ethnicities. The Creation of the Titans and the Gods , as well as The Creation, Death, and
Rebirth of the Universe , are among the many creation myths that highlight these combinations.
Throughout history, myths have created various similarities and differences between the cultures
and religions of the world.
Man the common principle in myths, illustrates that man was produced exclusively for the
pleasure of the Gods. Since the dawn of civilization the existence of myths had been recorded and
narrated in order to praise the Gods that had blessed them with life. Marduk explains that he created

The passage from Enuma Elish reveals that water was a precious element to the Balbylonians; it
was difficult to find water because they lived in such dry and barren land. In Babylonian culture,
Titmat became the Earth, which literally made her, Mother Earth, therefore making the land and
agriculture important to the civilization. The Creation of the Titans and Gods shows that the people
of Greece were abundant in agriculture thanks to Zeus; although Mother Earth and Zeus are not the
same, they had the same value in society and that they had created the land the people lived on. Not
only were the land, water and agriculture important in society, but also the society and structure
itself was a growing matter. The myth, The Creation, Death, and Rebirth of the Universetells of a
message that was sent throughout the people of India about their roll in society. In order for one
to be the best of their abilities, they must work within their social cast and not be removed from
said placing. In a Chinese teaching, called The Creation of the Universe and Human Beings , the
people believed in the wealthy and the poor; The people whom Nu Kua had fashioned by hand
from the rich yellow earth of the riverbed were high born, wealthy, and intelligent. But the people
who had fallen in drops from her rope were low born, poor, common folk. Countless of creation

Comparison Of Home Depot And Lowes
Rivals: In major markets, Home Depot and Lowes are bitter rivals, mainly in the DIY sector.
Lowes and Home Depot are similar with what they offer and both have large warehouse stores.
The other smaller competitors like True Value, Ace Hardware, and Hughes Supply are not even
close when it comes to what Lowes or Home Depot are accomplishing. The biggest threat that
faces Lowes now is that Home Depot has been training with a Chinese retailer and bought the store.
Now Home Depot has a foothold in a growing Chinese market.
New Entrants: Any company that tries to move into the home improvement will have difficulty in
competing with Lowes or Home Depot. This is because they have created what is known as an
oligopoly in the United States. They account for the majority of the home improvement industries
overall market and thus creating an economy of scale because of their purchasing power. Any
company that attempts to enter this market will face a huge difference in economy of scale that
they may have difficulty overcoming. Any new entrant will be going up against giants and will be
forced to be a specialty store to gain any traction. Other barriers may include customer loyalty,
startup capital, regional recognition, and a large selection of products.
Suppliers:
Suppliers hold much of the power on the price they can sell their goods. Also, supply and demand
also have a part in determining market price. In the home improvement industry, Lowes and Home
Depot create a

When Poetry Comes Not Come At All Essay
If Poetry comes not as naturally as Leaves to a tree it had better not come at all (biography). John
Keats was an English born poet who was known for his sonnets, romances, and epics. He was a
well known romantic poet who was criticized because of his style of poetry. In his poems, Keats
uses frequent themes such as death, the five senses, reality departures, and nature. As a romantic
poet, John Keatsuses imagery and emotion based themes as way to display his beliefs in his poetry.
Born in London, England on October 31, 1795, Keats suffered a tragic childhood after he
became an orphan at the age of eight. The death his father left him without a reliable mother
because after her husband s death, Keats s mother remarried and spent the family s money.
Keats s mother abandoned the family after her divorce. With no one to take care of them, Keats
s grandmother stepped up and took Keats and his three siblings into her home. Keats s mother
eventually returned home, but died from tuberculosis in 1810. During his time of abandonment,
Keats turned to literature and was supported by his school s headmaster, John Clarke. Keats
eventually left his school, Enfield Academy, in order to pursue a career in medicine. After
receiving his license in apothecary, he returned to literature because is medical career failed to
take off. With the help of Leigh Hunt, Keats was able to publish some of his poetry. In 1817,
Keats was able to publish his first book, Poems, with the help of some of

The Aging Process Affects A Number Of Neurocognitive...
Introduction
It is well established that the aging process adversely affects a number of neurocognitive
functions. Increasing our understanding of the neurocognitive aging process remains a significant
public health issue. A large body of cross sectional data (Anstey, Lord, Williams, 1997; Anstey,
Luszcz, Sanchez, 2001a; Anstey Smith, 1999; Baltes Lindenberger, 1997, 1997; Lin et al., 2011;
Lindenberger Baltes, 1994; Salthouse, Hancock, Meinz, Hambrick, 1996) and longitudinal data
(Anstey, Luszcz, Sanchez, 2001b; Lin et al., 2014) has demonstrated age related declines in
sensory functions that often happen in tandem with declines in cognitive ability. Age related
declines in sensory functions also profoundly affect quality of life (Carabellese et al., 1993). There
have been a number of studies that have used both cross sectional and longitudinal methods. In two
cross sectional analyses of 77 (mean age = 50.5, S.D. = 16.7) and then 127 participants (mean age
= 45.9, S.D. = 15.5), Salthouse and colleagues (1996) found that the relationship between sensory
functioning (near visual acuity) and cognition (working memory, associative learning, and concept
identification) increased with age. With a similar cross sectional approach, Baltes and colleagues
(1997) analyzed data from two large age groups: a younger adult sample (25 69 years, n = 171,
mean age = 48.2, SD = 14.7) and an older adult sample (70 103 years, n = 516, mean age = 84.9,
SD = 8.66).

Spread Of Buddhism In China Dbq Analysis
The responses to the spread of Buddhism in China were positive, negative, and acknowledged the
differences between Buddhism and other religions. Buddhism reached China around the first
century C.E., but Buddhist influence did not largely spread until the fall of the Han Dynasty. China
was deeply Confucian in the first century, and resisted the presence of Buddhismdue to the many
differences between the basic beliefs of each religion. The Chinese population reacted differently to
Buddhism depending on personal beliefs, which led to disagreement and conflict.
Buddhism caused many positive responses throughout China, especially during times of political
instability. Buddhism increased in popularity as the enforcement of laws in China decreased ...

China was greatly influenced by Confucian beliefs, especially during the Han Dynasty.
Confucianists believe the key to harmony is good morals throughout society and the acceptance
and respect of unequal relationships. Chinese Confucianists thought that society would run
smoothly, as long as each person completed their respective tasks. Tang Emperor Wu stated that
Buddhism allowed monks and nuns to not do their part in society, and therefore Buddhism needed
to be eradicated from Chinese society (Document 6). Emperor Wu s point of view does not reflect
the viewpoint of the lower classes, especially Buddhist supporters, because he is an emperor who
lives a lavish life. Emperor Wu fully supports Confucianism and has been educated using Confucian
beliefs throughout his life, which further influences his negative opinion on Buddhism expressed in
the proclamation. The unequal relationships between ruler and subject, or father and son, were
present throughout Chinese society and were important to the success of the empire. Han Yu, a
Confucian scholar, explained that the Buddha did not conform to Chinese laws or understand the
unequal relationships present in Chinese culture, in order to convince the population that Buddhism
does not belong in China (Document 4). The intended audience of the statement by Han Yu is the
Chinese upper class in order to prevent further conversion and acceptance of Buddhism.
Confucianism was most popular among the upper classes, due to the extensive education the
wealthy received based on Confucianism. Negative responses were common among the Chinese
population due to the many differences between Buddhist and Confucian

Just Poverty In Just Mercy, By Bryan Stevenson
In our country, hundreds of people are apprehended every day for misdemeanors crimes. Our
local justice system will then charge these individuals with fines that can be as much as $2,000
or more. Failure to pay this said fine can immediately result in potential jail time. Yet, if you can
pay your bail, you will spend no more than 24 hours in a local facility. Many of these people are
poor, while the remainderof these people tends to be middle to upper class citizens.
The 14th Amendment is set in place to protect citizens from being denied the equal protection of
the laws . This statement requires all branches of government to treat everyone equally. In Just
Mercy, Bryan Stevenson shares stories about the unjust treatment many of his clients received at the
hands of the American Justice System. Many of which were poor, lower class citizens who had
committed a crime. All of which were charged wrongfully.
Bryan Stevenson was a lawyer based out of Montgomery, Alabama. He helped many of these
people get an honest, fair sentence. Through the publication of his book, he has educated many on
the reality of our prison systems in America. He shares his firsthand accounts of children being
charged as adults, innocent men being charged for crimes they had clearly not had any involvement
with, and women living in poverty being charged with murder for burying their stillborn children.
All of these cases had one thing in common: poverty.
Poverty is defined as the state of being

Getting to Yes Report
Negotiations Getting to Yes is about improving your negotiation skills. First, it goes through the
disadvantages of the classic positional negotiating tactic that involves taking a stance and slowly
reaching an agreement after each party makes multiple concessions often ending with less than
anyone wants and a poor relationship between parties. After that, it discusses principled negotiation
which, in short, is focused on separating the people from the problem, focusing on the interests of
the parties and not their positions, inventing multiple options that look for mutual gains through
brainstorming activities, and basing the end result on objective standards. This is the bulk of the
book and there are many examples ranging from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a lot of talk about thinking about the negotiation objectively. This will require me to
prepare for the meeting/phone call by getting multiple ads for similar vehicles, invoices for very
recent repairs like brand new brakes, tires, and significant engine repairs that I wouldn t have
paid for if I knew my car was going to be totaled 3 months later, and information on the Kelly
Blue Book value of the car. It was mentioned many times that preparation can be the key to
success. After the adjuster tells me what my car is worth, I will try to direct the conversation by
asking how they came up with that specific number, and if they have taken into account all the
extra options and recent repairs on the car. I will do my best not to yield to pressure, to assure
the adjuster that I appreciate that they are doing their job (hopefully separating the person from
the position), repeat back their point of view in order to understand their position entirely,
clearly state that I want a fair price based on objective criteria, ask the adjuster if they would sell
their car for an amount that was derived from the methods used to price my car, and I will not
get angry, decide on a price in the first meeting, or attack their position. When buying my new
car, I will prepare ahead of time to know the costs of the cars I m looking at and always keep in
mind that my BATNA will be to just go to another dealership. In the future, I

Research Paper On Everyman
The morality play Everyman follows the traditional layout of a medieval social drama. The
makeup of a social drama consists of a breach, crisis, redressive action, reintegration and a schism.
The breach of the play comes when God calls upon Everyman and Everyman realizes that he in
turn lives a sinful Christian life. To fulfill his Christian duties Everyman attends his day of
reckoning. Godstates; Drowned in sin, they know me not for their God; / In worldly riches is all
their mind, / They fear not my righteousness, the sharp rod. (Everyman 26 8). The calling of
Everyman to his day of reckoning signifies in the social drama that the particular issue is what
needs changing. The breach leads to the crisis in a social drama. The crisis in... Show more content

The dramaturge used the arrangement of the sermon to inform the medieval Christians that they
needed to live a Christian like life in order to ensure an enjoyable after life. The ritualistic use of
confession by Everyman as a way to teach the communitas the importance of freeing themselves
before their final day of reckoning. The dramaturge s use of penance throughout the morality play
exemplified the importance of following the traditional Christian religion and reminded members of
the communitas to not go astray to a reformist religion such as the Hussites. Everyman s encounter
with both the sacred and demonic teaches the audience that death is always upon them and that
they must be ready for its call at any time. The desertion of Everyman by Cousin, Kindred, and
Fellowship through the use of dark play provides the communitas with a understanding of what it
would be like for them to die and have parts of their life torn away from them as Everyman lost the
relationship with these characters when they would not follow him to his death. The location of the
communitas breaks the wall of the typical separation of performers from audience members. The
dramaturge uses the location of the communitas as a performative structure unto itself. Lastly, the
dramaturge uses the setup of a traditional social drama in the design of his morality play. Both to
ensure the communitas would understand how to live like a true Christian and to prevent the
reform of other religions. Readers of traditional medieval dramas typically regarded the printed text

The A 380 is becoming more popular as airlines look for ways to move the maximum amount of
passengers for the least money (Stafford, 2006). The A380 is made in passenger or freight
versions. The A380 800 is the largest passenger plane in the world. When passenger areas are
divided into three classes, the A380 can seat 550 passengers. When the entire plane is designated
economy class, it can seat 853 people. There is 50% more cabin floor space than the Boeing 747
because the A380s upper deck goes the entire length of the fuselage ( Airbus a380airfield, 2011). In

According to FAA Order 5300, airports may submit Modifications of Standard (MOS) requests
for review of non standard compliance items as long as safety is not compromised . Making
modification would be much less expensive and less time consuming for the airports that are able
to do them. Some design standards to allow for safe use of the A380 include blast pad dimensions
to be 250 x 400 feet ( Airbus a380 airfield, 2011).
Many smaller airports will not be able to fit the larger airbus and the A380 will be limited to
only the large, hub airports better able to accommodate them. Smaller airports may have to be
used as feeder airports that will connect passengers to the large airports and the A380s. This could
be a problem of increased congestion with the existing slot system if more connecting flights are
needed and there are no more gates available or slot time (Ruehle, Goetsch, Koch, 2006).
At this time intercontinental routes use the hub and spoke system. This method allows airlines to
bundle an increased number of passengers on the flights. The draw back is that it also leads to a
more complex feeder flight schedule. Those airports with the facilities and room to support the
airbuses would then become hubs for those aircraft flights. To be profitable and fill enough seats,
airports with the most potential passengers would need to be paired for flights. Any delay or
cancellation would have a domino effect, costing more

Descriptive Essay On Skis
Butterflies in your stomach, wind ripping at your coat, eyes closed, praying you don t die as you
point your skis down the mountain says dad as he describes what our first day will be like while
we travel the sixteen hour drive to Winter Park, Colorado. Most of this drive is dull, all we see is
flat Kansas and its huge windmills, until we hit Denver. Then our eyes light up, hearts beat faster
and we can t breath as we gaze upon the mountain tops. We wind up those beautiful mountains, and
our anticipation builds the higher we climb. We get closer and closer to the resort when we feel a
sharp turn as we pull into the cabin. Anticipation turns to disappointment when we realize we have
to wait until morning to hit the slopes. Suddenly everyone is gloomy, moping around the cabin
unpacking, longing for tomorrow.
Finally it s morning. Everyone is rushing around, scarfing down food, and jumping into the
vehicles. We stop by the skirental shop for our skis, which is a long ordeal. Each person has to
read and sign a big pamphlet, get insurance checked, and try on several pairs of ski boots and skis
until the fit is right. We have to do that for fifteen people. It s awful, but worth the wait as we head
to the mountain.
We finally arrive at the mountain. We trudge through the snowin our awkward ski boots, stop near
the lift to clip on our skis and get into line. We are given a brief run through of how to get on the

What Are The Influence Of The Roman Bath And The Roman Baths
Both the Roman Baths and the British Museum exemplified the dominating influence of the
Roman and Greek empires in Britain s early history. However, even though both possess features
of the Roman era, only the British Museum had Grecian elements in its galleries as well. The
presence of both institutions highlight the imperial nature Britain adapted in arts, architecture, and
foreign affairs due to the exposure to these two cultures. The Roman Baths was a public bath house
where people went for bathing and socializing. It s well engineered system and beautiful structure
made out to be a wonderful place for people to meet on a day to day business to catch up with
current events and matters of the like. Unlike the Roman Baths, the British Museumis not a social
hangout, but a public space where everyone can learn something from almost every continent
through their treasures. There are sculptures, dishes, clocks, and many other exquisite pieces
exhibited in the museum to represent the various cultures they come from. It s evident from various
historical British locations that both the Romans and Greeks had a strong presence in Britain s
early history. Around 70 AD, the Roman Baths were constructed by the Romans when they
believed that the spring water was a gift from the Gods ( Roman Baths ). At this point in history, the
Romans had already invaded Britain several years beforehand. Them building holy structures on
British land is one of many occasions where they showcased a mentality that whatever they touched
was theirs. An attitude that Britain would later adopt during the Age of Exploration. Similarly, the
Parthenon statues in the British Museum commonly depicted images of power, strength, and
beauty. The statues not only symbolized power by placing warriors on horses, but also by defining
the muscles and bone structures of the subjects. It seemed as if there were two modes for the
statues: Herculean stances or sensual poses that provoked godly features. Such idealistic images
have had lasting impacts on art and architecture around the globe. Examples of British images that
represent the same ideals/have traces of Roman/Grecian architecture include various amphitheaters
around the nation, Bignor Roman

Intellectual Stimulation
The concept of Intellectual Stimulation is the most important concept in this module. To become
an Adaptable Leader, one must be skilled in the art of taking different points of view into
consideration before a decision is made. This concept will enable the leader to establish a base for
delivering the I know what it means to be in your shoes message to the followers. Additionally,
adaptable leaders wield higher levels of cognitive, emotional, and dispositional flexibilities, which
are vital for boosting qualities of effective followership and improving overall organizational
performance. If this concept is not applied, the followers commitment to the organization will be

Themes In The Invisible Man
The theme I chose for this novel is a young man searching for his identity and unsure about where
to turn to define himself.
The novel the invisible man is the story of a man who is searching for his happenings coming up
and now believes he is invisible to society. The narrator makes clear that he is invisible clearly
because people refuse to see him . The narrator flares back to his own youth, recalling his
judgment. He goes back to say that he lives underground, channeling electricity aside from
Monopolated Light and Power Company by edging his apartment . The narrator describes a vision
he had while he was listening to Louis Armstrong, exploring back into the history of slavery. He his
introduced in an intangible voice , someone who has lost his specification through the society .
The narrator casts back on an earlier period of the 20th century, encouraging that a newly
educated black class felt guilty of a past that was no flaw of its own. The narrator s grandfather
emerged to be in this line hoping to forget the history of slavery, but on his deathbed reveals that
the struggle against white oppression is still continuing . At first, the narrator cannot grasp that his
grandfather was fighting against oppression in his work he was compliant to white men. But as
he progresses as a student the denials of the system become more clear it is not clear if white men
wish for him to advance or not. The narrator s worldview has become more complex.

Public Health Paper
From past to present; the changing focus of public health by Maria Joyce
Key sections include:
Environment, infectious disease, locating public health, the enlightenment, the Sanitarians, national

The Third Way, new public health.
Public health, the new ideology may be taken to mean the promotion of healthy lifestyles linked to

description tended to relate more to sanitary reform and healthy conditions . The chronological

The onus on notification of infectious disease is still seen today in the Control of Disease Act 1984
and the Regulation of the Infectious Diseases 1988. This may have positive benefits to public
health, limiting illnesses such as food poisoning and rapid identification of outbreaks of bacterial
meningitis, measles and other illnesses through prompt notification and medical or environmental
intervention. The role of social conscience however and its manifestation in social control may have
been responsible for dividing communities through encouraging individuals to report their
apparently ill neighbours.
Locating public health
The tradition of public health and inherent understanding of the term, dates back as early as pre
Christian times, classified in five periods or bodies of thought: The Graeco Roman period with
emphasis on water and sanitation, the Medieval emphasis on epidemics, the Enlightenment
emphasis on disease prevalence, the Industrialisation emphasis on working conditions and Modern
era emphasis on bacteriology and virology (Rosen 1993 cited in Costello and Haggart

Johnny Shanley Doubt Summary
In John Patrick Shanley s Doubt , a priest is accused by a nun of raping the first African
American boy of St. Nicholas, a Catholic Church and school in the Bronx, New York. This
parable is placed in the year of 1964. Therefore, when Shanley writes the African American young
boy is per Sister Aloysius raped, it is only to make the boyan easy target because of the time period
and the social events that took place around that time. In Doubt , Sister Aloysius becomes
suspicious and warns another nun to be aware of her surroundings, which causes suspicion of a
priest, Father Flynn, raping a young boy, Donald Muller. Sister Aloysius then confronts Father
Flynn, and eventually causes him to leave the church. At the end of the play, Sister James and
Sister Aloysius are conversing and Sister Aloysius admits to doubting he done the action. Sister
Aloysius is quick to accuse Father Flynn of being involved inappropriately with Donald because
she is not comfortable with affection toward students. Sister Aloysius does not hesitate to watch
Father Flynn for any unrequired actions. At the beginning of the play, she warns Sister James to

Kingdom Of Heaven Research Paper
The Unrevealed Truth
In this essay I will be summarizing the myths to the truths, of the movie Kingdom of Heaven to
the real life history facts. Therefore Hollywood changed the facts to myths. I will be focusing
on the longbow creation, relationships, and killing Arabs. In the movie Kingdom of Heaven, the
longbow was used in the time of the movie. Unfortunately the longbow was really invented
around 1180 C.E.. Created by the Celts in Wales. Which the longbow was not really used by the
English military until the 1300s. A longbow is a an incredibly strong piece of wood roughly 6
feet tall and 5/8 inch wide. The longbow started becoming a great, well known weapon. The
Hundred Years War was where the longbow really showed its strength. In some of the war s most
decisive battles the longbow was the weapon that turned the tides. One memorable example: The
Battle of Crecy War.
Relationships in the movie Kingdom of Heaven was not one hundred percent accurate. There is
actually no given proof or records of any romance between Sibylla, (Balian alleged wife in the
movie) and Balian. But really, Sibylla and Baldwin, Balian brother, had love interest between each
other. Sibylla was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Grounded Theory
The grounded theory method is a method which allows counselors to understand the basis of the
research in its full context; it can later be tested, and is usually used when there is little
information is known about the subject in relation to counseling (Sheperis, C. J., Young, J. S.,
Daniels, M. H. 2010). The grounded theory model was founded in the 1960 s by Barney Glaser and
Anselm Strauss. Glaser came from a positivist background where quantitative researchwas
dominant and Strauss came from a strong background of qualitative research. Together, the formed
the grounded theory method which focused on allowing data to lead to the development of a

information from previous studies (Sheperis et al., 2010). In addition, it was stated that
interviews and data collected from interviews is the richest type of data since the data has such
variety (Sheperis et al., 2010). However, in order for the participants to feel like the researcher
can be trusted, allowing the participant to further open up and divulge information, the
researcher must be sensitive and open in order to maintain a good client researcher relationship
(Sheperis et al., 2010). A limitation of this type of theory would be a researcher who does not
possess the skill of being open and sensitive to their clients, not allowing proper data collection to
take place on part of lack of provided information from participants. In comparison, a strength of
this type of theory is that the grounded theory model looks at the data first, making researchers
stop, take a look at the data, thinking about what was gathered, and then looking at the word or
the topic which was researched in a different set of lenses or from a different view (Sheperis et al.,
2010). Furthermore, this type of theory can be used to analyze complex social problems such as
violence within groups or relationships. These problems can be between people and social
structures or groups, without needing the

The Role Of Large Corporations Under Repressive Regime
What is the role of large corporations under repressive regime? Do they engage in criminal
activities? If yes, how should they be included in a process of transitional justice? The purpose
of this work is to establish the links between the business world and transitional justice
mechanisms. My purpose is more specifically to link the potential crimes perpetrated by
corporations and the transitional justice mechanisms. This work does not link the transitional
justice field to a defined field of research. Corporate responsibility or accountability is a concept
coming from law and business literature. For the United Nations, transitional justice is the full
range of processes and mechanisms associated with a society s attempt to come to terms with a
legacy of large scale past abuses, in order to ensure accountability, serve justice and achieve
reconciliation. The vast majority of the literature discussing transitional justice focuses on
individuals or states, not collective organizations. Mechanisms of transitional justice are fourfold
and include: a justice process, a reparation process, a truth process and a stabilization process. All
these 4 processes are studied as either applying to individuals or state. However, in many cases the
responsibility of individuals is related to the collective responsibility of a group or an organization
other than the state. The objective of this work is to try to connect the role of businesses and
transitional justice mechanisms. The

The Haunted Palace, By Edgar Allen Poe
In short stories, poems and novels, there is always a theme found somewhere in the story to
relate to the reader. Sometimes it is a hidden clue that we ought to discover on our own and often
it is given by the author. When hearing the name Edgar Allen Poe and his marvelous works, the
common theme that we can associate with the majority of his work is death. While focusing on
one of Poe s poems, The Haunted Palace, it is revealed that the poem s focus and theme is not
entirely about death, but the transformation that occurs after the death of a king. Poe discusses
the change that has occurred in the town and the palace after the death of the town s monarch
whose name is not revealed throughout the poem. The poem communicates exceptionally well

Cinnamic Acid. More importantly the melting range for the unknown found was . This meant that

Progressivism responded to the changes of the time period by enacting a series of social
changes such as prohibition and women s suffrage. Martin Pernick, a history professor at the

science would be able to address social problems (26). Pernick also relates progressivism with the
development of modern propaganda in that propaganda presented information that would influence
public opinion on an issue. Propaganda played a large part in popularizing eugenics among the
public. Among other measures, exhibits were set up to present eugenic ideas to school groups and
the general public, popular eugenics organizations were established to expose citizens to eugenic

effects on youth depending on the child for instance, one child could become more violent whereas
another child will not have the urge to be violent.
Playing video games for hours at a time in one day, every day of the week can lead to another
major problem, gaming addiction. Youth may become obsessed with the game and think they
have to beat it before they do anything else and never want to leave their rooms because they
want to consistently play the game. Dr. Russell A. Sabella states in his article on Education.com
that: for most people, computer use and video game play is integrated into their lives as a
balanced manner. For others, time spent on the computer or video games is out of balance and
has displaced work, school, friends, even family (Sabella). Becoming addicted to video games can
cause a lot of problems in the family because some parents like to have family dinners and they

Financial Ratios Of Pepsico Inc Essay
The calculation of ratios is the calculation technique for analyzing a company s financial
performance that divides or standardize one accounting measure by another economically relevant
measure. Financial ratios can be used as a tool to demonstrate financial statement users for making
valid comparisons of firm operating performance, over time for the same firm and between
comparable companies. External investors are mostly interested in gaining insights about a firm s
profitability, assetmanagement, liquidity, and solvency. Table 1, below, will show financial ratios
of
PepsiCo Inc. The table consists of 5 major elements. Profitability refers to how much income was
generated by PepsiCo Inc. Then, asset management refers to how effectively the invested assets
were used in the business by PepsiCo s management team. Liquidity and solvency are the related
conception of analyzing financial risk. Liquidity refers to the ability of PepsiCo Inc. to generate
cash and is often considered a good indication of the company s ability to pay its short term
obligations; while, solvency generally refers to the ability of company to repay its outstanding
long term obligation. Lastly, ROE Model Framework is the return on equity and reveals that a
firm s ROE can be decomposed into the three component ratios of return on sales, asset turnover,
and financial leverage which will be used for sustainable growth rate later. Google s financial
ratios are showed in table 2. The table also has the

China Human Rights Violations Essay
China s Human Rights Violations in Tibet In 1950, China sent 40,000 Chinese troops, ironically
known as the People s Liberation Army , to invade a relatively large and peaceful country named
Tibet for their abundant resources. Due to this national crisis, the position of the 14th Dalai Lama
was given to Tenzin Gyatso ( Birth to Exile ). Over the next few decades, Chinas harassment of
Tibet caused a myriad of problems, such as famines, the destruction of many sacred Buddhist
monasteries and other cultural sites, etc. Thirty year after the initial Chinese invasion, the people of
Tibet protested out of outrage that nothing has changed for thirty years, to which China responded
with brutal force to stop the protesters. Due to the Dalai Lama s... Show more content on

Since the beginning of this nightmare, China s involvement has been a significant human rights
violation. First of all, China has driven the Dalai Lama out of his own country and has forced
him to leave his people. To Tibetans and Buddhists, the Dalai Lama is both a spiritual and
political leader ... like a cross between a Pope and a President (Oliver, 2017). Traditionally, before
the Dalai Lama dies, he must find his reincarnation, the Panchen Lama, who finds his
reincarnation, the Dalai Lama, before he dies and so on. Furthermore, the Dalai Lama picked a
six year old boy to become the next Panchen Lama and then China kidnapped [the] six year old
and no one has heard from him since (Oliver, 2017). Not only is this horrifying truth a human
rights violation, but it has also completely destroyed a long lasting and sacred tradition. According
to the current Dalai Lama, it will be impossible for Tibetans and those who follow the Tibetan
Buddhist tradition to acknowledge or accept [the next Panchen Lama] ( Reincarnation , 2011).
Currently, China has a great firewall, called the Golden Shield Project, that censors information on
various items that negatively talks about China. Many people in China are protesting against these
heinous acts on Tibet, even though the Golden Shield Project is preventing many from learning
what is happening in Tibet ( The Great Firewall of China: Background ). China s destruction of this
peaceful religion and culture is clearly against the policies of the United Nations Humans Rights

In this essay I shall compare the ways in which Owen suggests that war is futile, I will be
comparing poems Anthem for doomed youth, Futility and Exposure. Owen was a famous
British poet born on March 18th; and died on the 4th November; he gave us an insight into hell
or otherwise known as world war one. Owen was a young man of 18 years when he enlisted into
the army. He was sucked into the propaganda of war perceived as sweet, Owen was shot, a week
before the Armistice day, as he was leading his men across the canal, he was a mere age of 25,
war left him with a slight stammer which was unusually usual in poet s. Moreover, Anthem for

Themes In The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
In The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, a father and a child walk along a road in exile, unaware that
they are also traveling along a path to enlightenment. The father and the child, moving south in a
post apocalyptic world, look for safety and salvation. These experiences alienate them because
they are trying to keep other survivors away from them, but also enriches them by bringing the
boy and the father closer together. This suggests the deeper meaning that through struggle and
strife we can become closer to those we love. The characters live in a dark, grey, ashen world.
There is minimal light and no wildlife. The father describes the nights in this world as Nights
beyond dark beyond darkness and the days each one more grey than what had gone before.
(McCarthy 1) This sentence illuminates to the readers that the world in which the father and the
child are living is not like ours and that they struggle to survive. It also examines how the
characters view their own situation and surroundings. The characters exile in this grey world
alienates them from the rest of humanity. One of the best examples of this is when the father
picks up a phone and dials the number of his father s old house although he knows that no one
will pick up and it is pointless to call. While the father is doing this the boy asks What are you
doing? (McCarthy 7). This reinforces the point that the father and the child are all alone. No one
will come and help them. McCarthy s use of dialogue

The Association Between Low Hdl Blood Levels And Colonic...
Dyslipidemia is a pathological alteration of lipid and lipoprotein concentrations in the blood. It is
one of the main elements of metabolic syndrome. Epidemiological studies have shown that persons
with the metabolic syndrome have an increased risk of colorectal cancer (CRC). One of the
possible mechanisms is that lipids and lipoproteins have been found to be associated with neoplastic
processes as well as inflammation, insulin resistance and oxidative stress. On the other side, some
of the factors that influence lipid and lipoprotein concentration unfavorably (ie. smoking, obesity, a
high fat and low fiber diet consumption) can contribute to the development of colon canceras well.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between low HDL blood levels and
colonic cancer.
Methods:
A retrospective case control study was conducted. A chart review was performed on the charts of
183 patients who were diagnosed with colonic adenoma or carcinoma after having colonoscopy
/sigmoidoscopy done in our hospital from 1/1/09 till 12/31/10. Information regarding
demographics, HDL level, endoscopy and biopsy findings, site of the lesion and the period
between endoscopy and the closest HDL measurement we have in our records.
Results:
Our study population included 183 patients (66 males and 116 females). 86 patients had
adenomas while 96 patients were diagnosed with CRC. The mean age was 61.1+/ 11 years and 80
+/ 12.2 years for adenoma group and carcinoma group

The Opportunities and Obstacles of the voter registration laws
States that have implemented voter registration laws claim that those laws are put into place to
prevent voter fraud and safeguard the voting system (Underhill, 2015).
Conversely, adversaries to voter registration laws, namely the civil rights movement, contest that
voter registration laws impinge on the rights of voting citizens (Underhill, 2015). Furthermore,
opponents disagree with the aforementioned voting system transparency but actually overpowers
votes of the majority and takes away from minority voters, specifically, the Black community. This

Causes And Effects Of Animal Cruelty In Australia
Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being hurt and starved
everyday. Acts of violence towards animals, animal neglect and even psychological harm are
forms of animal cruelty. If you check the webpage of RSPCA Australia (Royal Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), you will find a list of actions and conditions that can be
qualified as cruelty to animals. The list includes such points as torturing or beating an animal;
failing to provide it with food and appropriate treatment in case of disease or injury; killing an
animal in an inhumane manner; failing to provide appropriate transportation conditions, and so on.
According to statistics, animals who suffer from cruelty most often are dogs (64.5%) and cats
(18%). 25% are for other animals, such as horses (The Humane Society). Supposedly, it means
domestic pets are the most vulnerable category to suffer from cruelty; also, it might mean cruelty
towards animals is a result of pet owners demonstrating their anger, frustration, or stress on the
closest and most defenseless creatures. Greyhound racing, puppy farms and animal testingare three
major examples of animal cruelty. Thousands of animals are being mistreated in Australia
Legal commercial greyhound racing is formally regulated in Australia. Greyhound racing, which is
an example of animal cruelty, is a competitive sport in which greyhound dogs are raced around a
track. Australia is one of one eight countries where greyhound

Ubisoft this time around, meaning its possible this game had a larger budget than its Live
Arcade brethren. There are two editions of this game; the Standard Edition, which just bags you
the game and retails at $14.99, or the Hall of Fame edition which nets you the standard game and
four extra armies. Each army has a hero and the DLC is really the icing on the cake. You get to

They aren t on par with titles currently releasing these days. In fact my initial thought was: Am I
still playing this on the Xbox 360? Not much visually has changed. The resolution of textures
may be a little higher, but I found that it was all. Animations can still be a little rough and some
of the textures are flat or bland. Dense detail is only found on the toys themselves and not the
surrounding battlefields. I got the power!!I have the power!! This is where things get a little
frustrating. The game at face value is great, it is fun and even addictive at times, but it is
plagued with bugs. Those that have the Hall of Fame Edition like myself will notice an instant
problem. The game cannot decide whether to load your DLC or not. Sometimes, I have access
to my extra heroes with no problem, other times I have no access to them as the game states the
DLC is not on the store yet. Even more weirdly, the game sometimes has only one or two of the
DLC characters unlocked. There are also unacceptable load times that seem to be random.
Sometimes I am even able to skip the loading screen by pressing X. Some reports of the screen
cutting off around the edges have also been reported. The game, in short, can be described as a
mess, a mixture of greatness and a pinch of uselessness. It could have been brilliant but

portions of six sigma (Korc, S, personal communication 2016), but in this context can apply
DMAIC as a problem solving tool in order to develop a business process improvement proposal.
Design The design portion of the BPI for Eagle Ottawa must be initiated by mapping out
processes which can help to identify stakeholders and prioritize customer needs (de Mast
Lokkerbol, 2012). Ultimately at the conclusion of the design stage, there should be a project
scope, a cross functional team assignment and team charter and a business case that justifies,
from a financial perspective any expenditure (de Mast Lokkerbol, 2012). The team charter lists
the applicable roles and responsibilities by individual and there should be a prevalent focus on
oversight and governance. Process mapping. Mapping the processes is a deep dive into current
processes versus potential future processes with a mindful focus on the already established critical
success factors of employee training and profitability. Prior to this paper, a careful but smaller scale
study of inputs and outputs for the training department at Eagle Ottawa and the leather cutting
process identified a commonality between two critical success factors which was the process of
leather hide marking (Havener, K., personal communication, 2016). Hide marking is a process
where employees must identify naturally occurring defects on the surface of the hide and mark
them with removable chalk (Herdegen, J., personal communication, 2007).

saving the money. Recycling is very important as waste has a huge negative impact on the natural

Recycling helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste. As recycling saves energy, it also reduces

Congress Enacted Title Vii Of The Civil Rights Act
Congress enacted Title VII of the Civil Rights Act to ensure that all people who are seeking
employment will not be discriminated against regardless of their race, national origin, color sex,
or religious beliefs. In the four given examples of casting calls, it would seem that disparate
treatment discrimination was blatant in the both the wording and premise of the casting notices.
Since it seems to be common practice for agencies to create casting notices that openly call for
certain races or colors of people, it would seem that any person who wasn t hired for a certain part
could file action with The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission(EEOC) and have their case
investigated, or be given a right to sue order that could possibly change the employment practices of
the entertainment industry.
Discrimination appears to be prevalent throughout all four of the casting scenarios. Based on the
fact that all roles were gender specific, the Title VII laws stating that a person cannot be
discriminated based on sex was violated in each of the four scenarios. Moreover, the first and
third casting calls also show further disparate treatment towards applicants due to the racial and
religious qualities that are required for the parts. In scenario one, using the word Jewish obviously
is calling for a person of a certain religion to audition for the part which violates Title VII; and
because the notice calls for the person to be a mother, sex plus discrimination is also a point

According to a Civil Engineering article, an engineering group was awarded a $169 million
contract to design and build a 1.6 mi extension of the Link, the Seattle metropolitan area s light

people moving to Seattle. Development of such projects: The Alaskan Way Viaduct, Elliott Bay

booming Seattle. These projects were petitioned for by voters, who recognizing issues with
transportation in the area, urged their Seattle council representatives to fix the issues. As

a delay in expanding the link light rail system. However, now the project is in full effect and is

The Sudanese Dispute after the Split

North Sudan the both countries get involved in conflict. The years of efforts by the international
community to put an end to this prolong conflict by assisting, negotiating and signing of the
Comprehensive Peace Agreement CPA in 2005 and the other effort to guarantee the downy division
of the South and North come in to view to become naught. According to CPA referendum in

July when the government of South came into existence, will mandate to peaceful and orderly

Southern Sudancame to existence in July. While, the North come out to agree the consequence of
the referendum and quit itself to less moderate conditions as a country that gives up its one third of
its territory and most importantly three quarters of the oil resources, which was not the case in
reality. The Republic of the South was internally divided, incompetence, insecure to involve in a

The Statue Of Donatello s Saint George
Donatello s Saint George is brave, is immovable but still human. Made from marble, the statue
stands monumentally in size at just over 6 10 . It is known that Donatello created the statue
using the subtraction method like many Renaissance sculptors. The figure itself is decorated
with many objects and clothing that are part of the whole build. The knight is seen proudly
showing off his shield that has a size of half his body. He is dressed in knightly clothing such as
a chest plate, cloak, plate skirt, boots, and gloves. The Statue is thought to represent the classical
heroes that were masculine yet still delicate. He appears to be ready for anything that comes in his
way but still deep in thought. To add on to the humanism, it is believed by most scholars that he is
in contrapposto; he is resting on one foot like a normal person.... Show more content on

Donatello constructed this whole figure from circa 1410 to 1415. However, the idea of the knight
s symbol came from the fact that Saint George was an actual knight in the Roman Army under the
Emperor Diocletian. His famous tale was of his victory against a plague bearing Dragon that lived
in a lake and threatened the neighboring countryside. However, this was not why Saint George was
made into a saint and/or why made into a statue. His Emperor, who thought of him as his best
tribune, did not want to kill Saint George; in fact, he offered him tremendous amounts of wealth to
convert from Christianity to Roman faith. However, with Georges loud and contempt refusals, he
was ordered to be executed and from the 4th century onward became one of the most venerated
saints in

Seaside Heights Research Paper Seaside Heights is a popular destination located in the Ocean County of New Jersey, primarily because along with the Beach it has an amusement oriented Boardwalk. The Boardwalk is one of the busiest at the Shore. The community is also the location of popular MTV Show Jersey Shore. As i am very fond of beaches and have already covered more than 10 of them this year (some had lighthouses too), i couldn t have left this one out. So, with much excitement, we left one Sunday afternoon for Manasquan, which is on the way to Seaside Heights. We spent a bit of time at a beach in Manasquan. The place was not crowded at all, maybe because there is too much to do just a few miles away at Seaside Heights. However, calmness has its own beauty and we saw ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The passage from Enuma Elish reveals that water was a precious element to the Balbylonians; it was difficult to find water because they lived in such dry and barren land. In Babylonian culture, Titmat became the Earth, which literally made her, Mother Earth, therefore making the land and agriculture important to the civilization. The Creation of the Titans and Gods shows that the people of Greece were abundant in agriculture thanks to Zeus; although Mother Earth and Zeus are not the same, they had the same value in society and that they had created the land the people lived on. Not only were the land, water and agriculture important in society, but also the society and structure itself was a growing matter. In order for one to be the best of their abilities, they must work within their social cast and not be removed from said placing. • 5. Comparison Of Home Depot And Lowes Rivals: In major markets, Home Depot and Lowes are bitter rivals, mainly in the DIY sector. Lowes and Home Depot are similar with what they offer and both have large warehouse stores. The other smaller competitors like True Value, Ace Hardware, and Hughes Supply are not even close when it comes to what Lowes or Home Depot are accomplishing. The biggest threat that faces Lowes now is that Home Depot has been training with a Chinese retailer and bought the store. Now Home Depot has a foothold in a growing Chinese market. New Entrants: Any company that tries to move into the home improvement will have difficulty in competing with Lowes or Home Depot. This is because they have created what is known as an oligopoly in the United States. They account for the majority of the home improvement industries overall market and thus creating an economy of scale because of their purchasing power. Any company that attempts to enter this market will face a huge difference in economy of scale that they may have difficulty overcoming. Any new entrant will be going up against giants and will be forced to be a specialty store to gain any traction. Other barriers may include customer loyalty, startup capital, regional recognition, and a large selection of products. • 7. The Aging Process Affects A Number Of Neurocognitive... Introduction It is well established that the aging process adversely affects a number of neurocognitive functions. Increasing our understanding of the neurocognitive aging process remains a significant public health issue. A large body of cross sectional data (Anstey, Lord, Williams, 1997; Anstey, Luszcz, Sanchez, 2001a; Anstey Smith, 1999; Baltes Lindenberger, 1997, 1997; Lin et al., 2011; Lindenberger Baltes, 1994; Salthouse, Hancock, Meinz, Hambrick, 1996) and longitudinal data (Anstey, Luszcz, Sanchez, 2001b; Lin et al., 2014) has demonstrated age related declines in sensory functions that often happen in tandem with declines in cognitive ability. Age related declines in sensory functions also profoundly affect quality of life (Carabellese et al., 1993). There have been a number of studies that have used both cross sectional and longitudinal methods. In two cross sectional analyses of 77 (mean age = 50.5, S.D. = 16.7) and then 127 participants (mean age = 45.9, S.D. = 15.5), Salthouse and colleagues (1996) found that the relationship between sensory functioning (near visual acuity) and cognition (working memory, associative learning, and concept identification) increased with age. With a similar cross sectional approach, Baltes and colleagues (1997) analyzed data from two large age groups: a younger adult sample (25 69 years, n = 171, mean age = 48.2, SD = 14.7) and an older adult sample (70 103 years, n = 516, mean age = 84.9, SD = 8.66). ... Buddhism reached China around the first century C.E., but Buddhist influence did not largely spread until the fall of the Han Dynasty. China was deeply Confucian in the first century, and resisted the presence of Buddhismdue to the many differences between the basic beliefs of each religion. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... China was greatly influenced by Confucian beliefs, especially during the Han Dynasty. Confucianists believe the key to harmony is good morals throughout society and the acceptance and respect of unequal relationships. Chinese Confucianists thought that society would run smoothly, as long as each person completed their respective tasks. Tang Emperor Wu stated that Buddhism allowed monks and nuns to not do their part in society, and therefore Buddhism needed to be eradicated from Chinese society (Document 6). Emperor Wu s point of view does not reflect the viewpoint of the lower classes, especially Buddhist supporters, because he is an emperor who lives a lavish life. Emperor Wu fully supports Confucianism and has been educated using Confucian beliefs throughout his life, which further influences his negative opinion on Buddhism expressed in the proclamation. The unequal relationships between ruler and subject, or father and son, were present throughout Chinese society and were important to the success of the empire. Han Yu, a Confucian scholar, explained that the Buddha did not conform to Chinese laws or understand the unequal relationships present in Chinese culture, in order to convince the population that Buddhism does not belong in China (Document 4). The intended audience of the statement by Han Yu is the Chinese upper class in order to prevent further conversion and acceptance of Buddhism. Confucianism was most popular among the upper classes, due to the extensive education the wealthy received based on Confucianism. Our local justice system will then charge these individuals with fines that can be as much as $2,000 or more. Failure to pay this said fine can immediately result in potential jail time. Yet, if you can pay your bail, you will spend no more than 24 hours in a local facility. Many of these people are poor, while the remainderof these people tends to be middle to upper class citizens. The 14th Amendment is set in place to protect citizens from being denied the equal protection of the laws . This statement requires all branches of government to treat everyone equally. In Just Mercy, Bryan Stevenson shares stories about the unjust treatment many of his clients received at the hands of the American Justice System. Many of which were poor, lower class citizens who had committed a crime. All of which were charged wrongfully. Bryan Stevenson was a lawyer based out of Montgomery, Alabama. He helped many of these people get an honest, fair sentence. Through the publication of his book, he has educated many on the reality of our prison systems in America. He shares his firsthand accounts of children being charged as adults, innocent men being charged for crimes they had clearly not had any involvement with, and women living in poverty being charged with murder for burying their stillborn children. All of these cases had one thing in common: poverty. Poverty is defined as the state of being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

First, it goes through the disadvantages of the classic positional negotiating tactic that involves taking a stance and slowly reaching an agreement after each party makes multiple concessions often ending with less than anyone wants and a poor relationship between parties. After that, it discusses principled negotiation which, in short, is focused on separating the people from the problem, focusing on the interests of the parties and not their positions, inventing multiple options that look for mutual gains through brainstorming activities, and basing the end result on objective standards. It was mentioned many times that preparation can be the key to success. The makeup of a social drama consists of a breach, crisis, redressive action, reintegration and a schism. The breach of the play comes when God calls upon Everyman and Everyman realizes that he in turn lives a sinful Christian life. To fulfill his Christian duties Everyman attends his day of reckoning. Godstates; Drowned in sin, they know me not for their God; / In worldly riches is all their mind, / They fear not my righteousness, the sharp rod. (Everyman 26 8). The dramaturge used the arrangement of the sermon to inform the medieval Christians that they needed to live a Christian like life in order to ensure an enjoyable after life. The ritualistic use of confession by Everyman as a way to teach the communitas the importance of freeing themselves before their final day of reckoning. The dramaturge s use of penance throughout the morality play exemplified the importance of following the traditional Christian religion and reminded members of the communitas to not go astray to a reformist religion such as the Hussites. Everyman s encounter with both the sacred and demonic teaches the audience that death is always upon them and that they must be ready for its call at any time. The desertion of Everyman by Cousin, Kindred, and Fellowship through the use of dark play provides the communitas with a understanding of what it would be like for them to die and have parts of their life torn away from them as Everyman lost the relationship with these characters when they would not follow him to his death. The location of the communitas breaks the wall of the typical separation of performers from audience members. The dramaturge uses the location of the communitas as a performative structure unto itself. Lastly, the dramaturge uses the setup of a traditional social drama in the design of his morality play. Both to ensure the communitas would understand how to live like a true Christian and to prevent the reform of other religions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to FAA Order 5300, airports may submit Modifications of Standard (MOS) requests for review of non standard compliance items as long as safety is not compromised . Making modification would be much less expensive and less time consuming for the airports that are able to do them. Some design standards to allow for safe use of the A380 include blast pad dimensions to be 250 x 400 feet ( Airbus a380 airfield, 2011). Many smaller airports will not be able to fit the larger airbus and the A380 will be limited to only the large, hub airports better able to accommodate them. Smaller airports may have to be used as feeder airports that will connect passengers to the large airports and the A380s. This could be a problem of increased congestion with the existing slot system if more connecting flights are needed and there are no more gates available or slot time (Ruehle, Goetsch, Koch, 2006). At this time intercontinental routes use the hub and spoke system. This method allows airlines to bundle an increased number of passengers on the flights. The draw back is that it also leads to a more complex feeder flight schedule. Those airports with the facilities and room to support the airbuses would then become hubs for those aircraft flights. To be profitable and fill enough seats, airports with the most potential passengers would need to be paired for flights. Any delay or cancellation would have a domino effect, costing more ... However, even though both possess features of the Roman era, only the British Museum had Grecian elements in its galleries as well. The presence of both institutions highlight the imperial nature Britain adapted in arts, architecture, and foreign affairs due to the exposure to these two cultures. The Roman Baths was a public bath house where people went for bathing and socializing. It s well engineered system and beautiful structure made out to be a wonderful place for people to meet on a day to day business to catch up with current events and matters of the like. Unlike the Roman Baths, the British Museumis not a social hangout, but a public space where everyone can learn something from almost every continent through their treasures. There are sculptures, dishes, clocks, and many other exquisite pieces exhibited in the museum to represent the various cultures they come from. It s evident from various historical British locations that both the Romans and Greeks had a strong presence in Britain s early history. Around 70 AD, the Roman Baths were constructed by the Romans when they believed that the spring water was a gift from the Gods ( Roman Baths ). At this point in history, the Romans had already invaded Britain several years beforehand. Them building holy structures on British land is one of many occasions where they showcased a mentality that whatever they touched was theirs. An attitude that Britain would later adopt during the Age of Exploration. Similarly, the Parthenon statues in the British Museum commonly depicted images of power, strength, and beauty. The statues not only symbolized power by placing warriors on horses, but also by defining the muscles and bone structures of the subjects. It seemed as if there were two modes for the statues: Herculean stances or sensual poses that provoked godly features. One may also create an aqueous solution of the unknown and test its pH level then compare these results with known pH levels of known substances. The father and the child, moving south in a post apocalyptic world, look for safety and salvation. These experiences alienate them because they are trying to keep other survivors away from them, but also enriches them by bringing the boy and the father closer together. This suggests the deeper meaning that through struggle and strife we can become closer to those we love. The characters live in a dark, grey, ashen world. There is minimal light and no wildlife. The father describes the nights in this world as Nights beyond dark beyond darkness and the days each one more grey than what had gone before. (McCarthy 1) This sentence illuminates to the readers that the world in which the father and the child are living is not like ours and that they struggle to survive. It also examines how the characters view their own situation and surroundings. The characters exile in this grey world alienates them from the rest of humanity. One of the best examples of this is when the father picks up a phone and dials the number of his father s old house although he knows that no one will pick up and it is pointless to call. While the father is doing this the boy asks What are you doing? (McCarthy 7). This reinforces the point that the father and the child are all alone. No one will come and help them. • 54. Congress Enacted Title Vii Of The Civil Rights Act Congress enacted Title VII of the Civil Rights Act to ensure that all people who are seeking employment will not be discriminated against regardless of their race, national origin, color sex, or religious beliefs. In the four given examples of casting calls, it would seem that disparate treatment discrimination was blatant in the both the wording and premise of the casting notices. Since it seems to be common practice for agencies to create casting notices that openly call for certain races or colors of people, it would seem that any person who wasn t hired for a certain part could file action with The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission(EEOC) and have their case investigated, or be given a right to sue order that could possibly change the employment practices of the entertainment industry. Discrimination appears to be prevalent throughout all four of the casting scenarios. Based on the fact that all roles were gender specific, the Title VII laws stating that a person cannot be discriminated based on sex was violated in each of the four scenarios. Moreover, the first and third casting calls also show further disparate treatment towards applicants due to the racial and religious qualities that are required for the parts. In scenario one, using the word Jewish obviously is calling for a person of a certain religion to audition for the part which violates Title VII; and because the notice calls for the person to be a mother, sex plus discrimination is also a point ... • 55. Seattle Population Legalization Living far away from my high school, taking the bus became part of my morning routine. It was extremely frustrating because there wasn t a bus in my neighborhood that went straight to my school. I had no other choice than to take two buses to get to school. The problem wasn t that it wasn t convenient, but rather it took up a lot of time. The first bus came exactly at 6:00 AM. It would go up a long stretch until it stopped on Lander Street, where I would catch the next bus. Depending on traffic, the next bus would either take 30 minutes or 1 hour. Sometimes I would walk to school just because I didn t want to miss my first period class. Altogether, two public transportation agencies serve the city of Seattle, King County Metro Transit and... According to a Civil Engineering article, an engineering group was awarded a $169 million contract to design and build a 1.6 mi extension of the Link, the Seattle metropolitan area s light rail line (Landers 20). This shows the effort on Seattle s part to accommodate the influx of people moving to Seattle. Development of such projects: The Alaskan Way Viaduct, Elliott Bay Seawall Project, and King Street Station Restoration (Major Projects), are reminiscent of a booming Seattle. These projects were petitioned for by voters, who recognizing issues with transportation in the area, urged their Seattle council representatives to fix the issues. As mentioned before, Seattle had started to develop its link light rail line. Munnoch said that Sound Transit will finance up to 70% of the project, but is seeking 30% to 50% of the total cost from the Federal Transit Administration (qtd. in Seattle to Build $2 Billion Light Rail System). This caused a delay in expanding the link light rail system. However, now the project is in full effect and is expected to have stations in the Capitol Hill and UW (Location Stations). According to Sound Transit, both stations are in a construction phase, en route to finishing in early 2016 (Location ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 57. The Statue Of Donatello s Saint George Donatello s Saint George is brave, is immovable but still human. Made from marble, the statue stands monumentally in size at just over 6 10 . It is known that Donatello created the statue using the subtraction method like many Renaissance sculptors. The figure itself is decorated with many objects and clothing that are part of the whole build. The knight is seen proudly showing off his shield that has a size of half his body. He is dressed in knightly clothing such as a chest plate, cloak, plate skirt, boots, and gloves. The Statue is thought to represent the classical heroes that were masculine yet still delicate. He appears to be ready for anything that comes in his way but still deep in thought. To add on to the humanism, it is believed by most scholars that he is in contrapposto; he is resting on one foot like a normal person.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Donatello constructed this whole figure from circa 1410 to 1415. However, the idea of the knight s symbol came from the fact that Saint George was an actual knight in the Roman Army under the Emperor Diocletian. His famous tale was of his victory against a plague bearing Dragon that lived in a lake and threatened the neighboring countryside. However, this was not why Saint George was made into a saint and/or why made into a statue. His Emperor, who thought of him as his best tribune, did not want to kill Saint George; in fact, he offered him tremendous amounts of wealth to convert from Christianity to Roman faith. However, with Georges loud and contempt refusals, he was ordered to be executed and from the 4th century onward became one of the most venerated saints in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
