A History of Gout
Gout is one of oldest form of arthritis that is documented in medicine. It creates a throbbing and
inflammation in the sufferer joints. The Egyptians were the first to identify Gout and it was later
recognized by the Hippocrates in the fifth century BC, who referred to it as the unwalkable disease
(Simkin Nuki, 2006,). Over the course of history, gouthas been concomitant lavish amount of
liquor and foods. Gout was known as a monarchs or rich men disease (John Hopkins Medicine)
in early centuries because it was related to a way of life that only the rich could afford. In early
centuries gout was desired communally because it was frequent among the rich and a sign of
wealth. Also, if someone has a gout attack it was looked upon as a preventive method in
contradiction of serious illness. For example, gout prevents other illnesses and prolongs
life...could I cure that gout, should not I have a fever, a palsy, or an apoplexy (Horace Walpole).
In addition, historically gout was considered a disease in middle age men, however the notion
that gout could not affect women was proven false. Seneca, observed, in this age, women rival
men in every kind of lasciviousness ... why need we then be surprised at seeing so many of the
female sex afflicted with the gout? (Simkin Nuki, 2006). Gout disease is a male dominate disease,
lately women have been having gout because of high obesity rate and consumption of high fructose
rich products.

Thomas Hobbes Social Contract Theory
Social Contract Theory is the view that a persons moral and/or political obligations are dependent
upon a contract or agreement among them to form the society in which they live. It is rightly
associated with modern moral and political theory and is given its first full exposition and defense
by Thomas Hobbes(Friend). Thomas Hobbes, an English philosopher (1588 1679), lived through a
very vital period of the English Civil War, which lasted from 1642 1648. During this time, the King
and the Monarchists wanted the traditional authority of a monarchy, while the Parliamentarians did
not. Hobbes had an important role in this, because he symbolized a settlement between the two
groups. Not only did he reject the theory of the Divine Right of Kings, he also rejected the
Parliamentarians democratic view that power should be shared between the King and Parliament.
He possesses both radical and conservative characteristics because he rejects both views.
One could divide Hobbes political theory into two parts: the first being his theory of human
motivation followed by his theory of the social contract, which is based off the theoretical State of
Nature. Hobbes theory of human motivation, better known as Psychological Egoism, is the thesis
that we are always deep down motivated by what we perceive to be in our own self interest
(Friend). The second part of his theory is based on the social contract, which was established on the
theoretical State of Nature. Hobbes published the

Life After the Terricide
Prologue:
Stahl is dead, and his murderr was killed the black hand is in turmoil, but Kaden Zyranus a well
trained man standing tall at eight feet who was known for his marksmanship, and was only better
at public speaking with his charisma than he was at shooting devised a plan to once again unite

Chapter 1: Death Legion
It was cool walking through the damp puddles on the streets from recent rain showers as Kaden,
and his Right hand Jarno Portrayas walked toward a building in which all high ranking black hand
members had been called to a meeting by Kaden he planned to once again reunite the black hand
he felt this was his duty as a true Helghast. He walked into a mostly dark room full of a majority
of evolved helghast. Kaden was evolved, but preferred his armor to officer clothing while Jarno
who was large, and skinny while still seeming to keep an aura of masculinity and purpose was
always wearing a lavish officer garnmet. They both walked up to a podium in the back, and
Kaden began his speech. My fellow Helghast is their anymore to be lost? Can our enemy steal
anymore from us, but our very lives? Shall we wait for them to come fore those as well, or will
we fight? We must once and for all end this tyranny we must avenge the dead. Persecution is the

Analysis Of The Article The Self Of The Age Of...
Writing 2
Yijia Chen
In the article, The self in the age of Information, Kenneth Gergen argues that under the information
era, technology leads people to lose the self and reflect this lost on the writing. Discussing the same
period, Jeremy Rifkin in the chapter A Postmodern Stage showed a more positive perspective about
the change.
To support his argument, Gergen elaborates damages in the community and institution that nurtured
independent self, the direct erosion to solitary self. In the pre modern world, people due to the
lack of communication and transportation tools, have fewer opportunities to get in touch with
various people outside. Therefore, people form consistent relationships with others, which derive
a strong sense of being somebody everyone is familiar with. However, the advances in
communication enable people to move household often and be in contact with a wider range of
friends leading to average weakening bonds with more and fast changing friends. As a result of the
decrease in deep relationships, in Gergen s notion, people receive less sense of identification.
Moreover, the multi voices raised today and the suspicions over speakers motivations confuse
people from faith to distrust.
Other than environmental factors, Gergen addresses the erosion of the essential self directly
undermine the intelligibility of the tradition self. People can t make independent and rational
decision because of the conflicting stands they held in the same time and if

Questions On Fourth Amendment Jurisprudence
Fourth Amendment jurisprudence is primarily concentrated in four areas: 1) defining searches ; 2)
the Warrant Requirement, in which warrantless searches are semantically precluded except in
specific and tightly constricted situations; 3) the Probable Cause Requirement, whose exclusive
provisions are closely associated with the Warrant Requirement s proscription of police inquiries
into same; and, 4) the exclusionary rule, which presumptively excludes any information or evidence
gathered in violation of the preceding two (Rickless, 2005). The Court has continued to delineate
areas, which fall outside the parameters of the restrictions placed upon government officials through
the Fourth Amendment. The Court has ruled that the areas carved out which include exceptions to
the basic tenets of the Fourth Amendment, commonly known as warrantless searches, may be
conducted if circumstances are such that the interests of society outweigh the invasiveness of the
action. The Court has have recognized special situations in which warrants were not required,
including: border searches; consent searches; container searches; exigent circumstances; searches
incident to a lawful arrest; plain view; special needs; stop and frisk; and inventory searches. The
Court has ruled that the areas carved out which include exceptions to the basic tenets of the Fourth
Amendment, commonly known as warrantless searches, may be

Women s Influence On The Field Of Psychology
Throughout the early days of psychology, opportunities for women where limited and it was an
extremely difficult time for women to become apparent in the field of psychology. Women
struggled for equality in the field of psychology and this began with our pioneers, Mary Whiton
Calkins, who sat her PhD but was never awarded it, Margaret Washburn, being the first women to
be awarded a PhD and Christine Ladd Franklin.
Since these women made their breakthrough there has been more and more women contributing
their knowledge to many areas in psychology such as, Anna Freud, who became influenced by her
father s theories and created her own theories in psychoanalysis. Karen Horney who contributed a
substantial amount to the personality theory and later became interested in feminine psychology,
Melanie Klein and Mary Ainsworth, just to name a few.
These women faced several societal constraints and long held beliefs about the role of women in
their era. At that time the societal belief was that women where intellectually inferior to men and
responding to this judgement, male psychologists attempted to develop theories about what could
happen to women if they did try to enter higher education.
This paper will outline the contribution to the field of psychology that has been made by a female
psychologist. This paper will focus on the contributions made by Mary D. Salter Ainsworth within
her field of Developmental psychology and her contributions to other theories within the same

Abstract Edward Snowden, commonly known as the whistle blower is the most discussed topic in
the country from last month. According to the Merriam s online dictionary, whistle blower, (n.d.)
means, one who reveals something covert or who informs against another. (m w.com, n.d.).
Analyze the reliability, credibility, and validity of the data used by the author. Data used in the
article retrieved from the Washington Times, Snowden has been called more of a traitor instead of
the whistle blower. The author has written different articles before, and is reliable. Information
used in the article does seem a little biased towards the author s personal point of view ... Show

When you join the military, work for the government, or government contractors, you give up
some of your rights and freedoms. If you are entrusted with security clearances and access to
classified materials, you give up even more rights and freedoms. These rights and freedoms are
not taken from you. You voluntarily give them up. If you violate the trust put into you, you
deserve any and all punishment that comes your way, no matter how noble your ego makes you
think the cause is. (Bella, 2013). Author here states Snowden could have walked away from his
job or the government if he did not like what he did for them. Company paid him well above
$200K a year and put in a great amount of trust in him. Author sees it as if someone puts a trust or
discloses classified information then the person voluntarily gives up his or her right of freedom of
speech. Being smart in a field and using the knowledge to help country get stronger is a good
thing, but being childish and disclose classified information to public is a big deal for the author.
On Thursday, President Obama declared before the world that he would not permit any diplomatic
wheeling and dealing over my case. (Roberts, 2013) Last week Edward Snowden mentioned that if
he is tried and brought back to the US then he would not let any diplomatic rule over his case.

Example Of The Movie Family Affair
Family Affair is one of the most interesting award winning documentaries I have seen. Family
Affair has given me an opportunity to think about ones family experience with incest. Incest occurs
when two people have sexual relations with someone their related to. Incest is something that has
been on going amongst many families generation after generation. This familyexperienced many
racial, physical, and sexual trauma. Incest at one point of time was an issue not many were
bothered by but, today it is seen as taboo amongst many cultures. Family Affair is based on a true
story about filmmaker Chico Colvard, dysfunctional family. Family Affair consists of a black father
and white mother(German) who have 4 four children 3 girls (Chici,... Show more content on

My heart sank when the police officer told their mom she got what she deserved. This documentary
relates to the Sociology of deviant behavior course in many ways. For example this movie is
filled with deviant behavior. Deviant behavior is behavior that is ubsurd and violates the social
norm. Raping and abusing someone is not the social norm it also leads to violence. This type of
behavior is looked down upon especially when family is involved. Conflict theory of crime also
relates to this because of the problems that occured amongst everyone in the family that caused
incest and raping each to occur. This documentary has a lot in common with Little Children . A
film that talks about a sex offender living in a suburb neighborhood that is very family oriented
and parents are scared to death. Labeling theory is apart of the documentary as well because the
father was labeled to be a rapist and the family was called out and many of them were called
names. Control theory played a huge role in this documentary as well. The father had control over
everything you can tell he was very stict. Everything was done his way no matter what no one else

The European Union As A European Community
The European Union formed in 1956, firstly as a European Community until further expansion. The
Union was not the first attempt at European cooperation, but it has been the boldest in conception,
the most developed and the most successful, (Watts). With the first countries to join such as
Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Holland, then many other countries joining for years after. It
was formed in search of mutual benefit between the European countries after the impact that World
War II took on Europe, and it created a huge benefit for Europe and its citizens, allowing travel to
citizens freely within Europe, but in recent years we have seen a surplus of people wanting to come
to Europe. While, the European Unionhas been a strong advantage for Europe, the open borders
have become out of control and the future does not look as promising.
With European countries allowing an open border, meaning anyone within Europe could travel
and live wherever they pleased was great for the people of Europe, but this now has made
complications. Since 2011, an estimated 200,000 Syrians have died from the conflict within their
borders, and close to half of the country s residents have been uprooted. Roughly 3.5 m illion
people are categorized as internally displaced, while 3 million have fled the country, (Hussein).
While not all 3 million have been fleeing to Europe, they actually started to escape to their
neighboring countries such as Lebanon, Turkey and Jordan but with

Why Did You Choose For Pursue A Career For The Television...
This past summer, when I had time to investigate upcoming shows for this season, I happened
upon a show that captured my attention Time After Time. At that point, not much was written
about it, but I discovered that one of the directors and executive producers was a man by the
name of Marcos Siega. He quickly agreed to an interview (they were in the throes of filming at
that point). Due to my crazy schedule, I had to postpone the posting of this fantastic piece until
now, but seeing how the premiere of his new show is tonight (March 5th), it seems like a perfect
time to understand a bit more about one of the men who is behind this remarkably intriguing show.

Since you weren t able to go to film school, were you just learning on the job or were people
mentoring you?
I would say it was a little bit of everything. I became a production assistant here in New York and
started working on any production that I could. It was what I wanted to do. When I started
directing music videos, you go out and surround yourself with like minded people. So I learned
a lot by just doing. I didn t have any formal training, but when you re doing it and you re figuring
it out on your own, I think in some ways, you learn faster and you learn more cause you re forced
into it. I have done all sorts of things. I have been a cinematographer, an editor, and a producer. I
got my hands dirty with having to do a little bit of everything on the music videos I was directing
cause they were not big budgets. I couldn t hire a ton of people to do the work. So that was my
learning experience. I also had a real love for theater, and as a director, you lean into the visuals of
directing. There are directors who are known as actor s directors, and I think I fall somewhere in
between cause I really love storytelling and I had a real appreciation for filmmakers and directors
who could adapt something to the stage and make you feel something by watching something in
person without artificially doing it and without all the gloss of what I was doing in the music video
world.

Bastion Of Correctness
The Automotive Media: Last Bastion of Sanity in the World of Political Correctness Welcome to
the automotive world, the last holdout in the battle against political correctness. This is one of the
few places left where one can make a statement about women and men and not be assaulted with
court cases or be accused of being a bigot. In the automotive media, it is still acceptable to represent
men in business suits driving luxury vehicles, and to show mothers driving their kids in a minivan.
There is one simple reason that the automotive media has remained unadulterated by political
correctness money. As a private industry, both car manufacturers and aftermarket companies have
one goal, to sell cars and car related products, and to make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This ad shows us the more traditional view of the male as a powerful businessman, and one who
is always in control. This advertisement for Volvo was also featured in the September 2006
issue of Car and Driver. This image varies significantly from the Jaguar ad. It depicts a woman
driving a car with two male passengers. However, despite the more modern view of women, this
ad has undertones which reveal much about the differences in the way men and women think.
For years, Volvo has been has set the bar for automotive safety. In general this tends to appeal
more to female audiences. For most men safety is rather low on their list of considerations when
purchasing a vehicle. Quite the opposite is true for women; safety is of top concern. This ad
initially looks progressive and PC, but when one considers brand history and who the ad actually
targets, it becomes evident that Volvo recognizes that women are more safety oriented than men,
and as such are a more appropriate market for their vehicles. This violates the foremost
assumption of PC that men and women viewed in the same way. When more research into Volvo
s marketing techniques is done, even more can be learned about the company s target audience
and the methods used to reach them. In 2004, Volvo unveiled a concept known as the Volvo YCC.
This car was different from the beginning it was to be the first car designed by women, for women.

My First Son Mutability
Poems during the renaissance age were used to show typical ideas from that era. One idea is
mutability. For example, Ben Jonson s On My First Son shows the theme of mutability, a very
common topic during the seventeenth century. This passage shows mutability in at least three
ways. First, the author states Farewell, thou child of my right hand, and joy , farewell is a term
that is used for goodbye. In this line the author is saying goodbye to his child who has died and
will no longer be with him. The author uses mutability to show the change from life to death.
Second, the author yet again uses mutability in the line And if no other misery, yet age? This line
shows mutability by age. Age is something that is always changing. The author

A Short Note On Diabetic Retinopathy ( Dr ) Is The Most...
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the most common cause of vision loss in working aged individuals
in developed countries. Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the main cause of decreased vision in
diabetic retinopathy [1]. It was shown that the 10 year cumulative incidence of diabetic macular
edema was 20.1% in type 1 diabetes and 25.4% in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin
[2]. The management of DME includes strict glycemic and blood pressure control [3 5]. Argon laser
treatment for clinically significant macular edema (CSME) has been the mainstay treatment
according to the Early Treatment Diabetic RetinopathyStudy (ETDRS) study that demonstrated a
50% reduction in moderate visual loss following focal laser photocoagulation [6,7].
The conventional Argon laser treatment is associated with heat to the surrounding tissues such as
the neurosensory retina and the choroid leading to collateral thermal damage. The greyish endpoint
of a laser burn means that the temperature is high enough to change the transparency of the retina
[8].
Possible side effects of conventional macular laser photocoagulation include visual loss due to
accidental foveal photocoagulation, pre and sub retinal fibrosis, choroidal neovascularization,
visual field scotomas, decreased color vision and progressive expansion of the laser scars into the
fovea [9 12].
Conventional laser photocoagulation produces a continuous wave laser output. On the other hand

The Importance and History of the Steam Engine Essay
The wonderful progress of the present century is, in a very great degree, due to the invention and
improvement of the steam engine, and to the ingenious application of its power to kinds of work
that formerly taxed the physical energies of the human race. ~Robert H. Thurston
The steam engine can easily be considered the single most important invention of the entire
industrial revolution. There is not one part of industry present in today s society that can be
examined without coming across some type of reference or dependence upon the steam engine.
But, who deserves the credit for this great invention? Some give the credit to James Watt while
others claim that Thomas Newcomen was the original inventor. However, the idea of the... Show

The idea using the power of steam to our advantage goes back nearly twenty one centuries. A
learned writer in ancient Alexandria, named Hero, wrote a manuscript describing various
devices and ideas of the time. Although it is not proven that Hero was the inventor of any of
these devices, he is given credit for the earliest mention of steam power. Hero describes a method
to open the doors of a temple with the action of a fire on the alter at the front of the temple. A
series of pipes runs between the alter and the temple doors. The force of the steam created by the
fire on the alter is strong enough to open the temple doors. The essential principle that Hero used
was to change heat energy into mechanical energy or work. Supposedly, Hero continued his work
and ended up creating what is often called the First Steam Engine. Hero s engine is featured on
below on the right. The cauldron or bowl like portion AB holds water. There is a steam tight
cover place over top of the cauldron. Two pipes extend from the lid and suspend a globe directly
above the cauldron. The water is heated, causing steam to be created and forced through the
pipes. The globe then fills with steam. Pipes K and H are located on opposite sides of the globe
and allow the steam to escape when the pressure becomes uneven. The escaping steam then causes
the globe to spin on its axis.

MRI is mainly used for two purposes; women who have been diagnosed with cancer and women
who are at a high risk for breastcancer. As many advantages as breast MRI has, it also has a few
disadvantages just as other modalities do.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) recommends women that are at high risk of developing breast
cancer have an annual breast MRI exam in addition to their annual mammograms to increase the
likelihood that breast cancer will be detected early. These new recommendations came about in
2007. Most women that are under the age of 40 do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Characteristics Of Doctor Faustus As A Renaissance Text
1719963
EN6001 Renaissance
When answering the question of whether Doctor Faustus can be classified as a Renaissance text we
must first find out what the Renaissance is how we define the artistic and scholastic pursuits that
come from this age. We know that Renaissance just means to be reborn or rebirth. The dictionary
definition of the Renaissance age is the revival of European art and literature under the influence of
classical models in the 14th 16th centuries. The period before the Renaissance is known as the
Dark or Middle ages. It is known for a decline in the arts and the pursuit of such things. The
Renaissance wasn t only known for a growth in arts but also in the pursuit of knowledge. This was
a rebirth of man questioning his identity and his place in the universe. During this period there was
an explosion in science and discovering not only how the world works but how to make the
world easier for us. This only drove some to question more though man and his place in society.
Many people believed that if science went too far, if man tried to know too much or things he
should not dabble in then it was going to be the fall of us from grace. While others thought that
science had nothing to do with religion or God and that in fact it was our right as humans to try
and learn more and grow as a race. Due to this and the resurgence of religion during this period
there was much tension between people and their ideas. There was much call for reform from both
sides, some

Pathos In Sacred Beauty
Collateral beauty a simple phrase that contains a plethora of complexity. After watching Allen
Loeb s film Collateral Beauty I was quickly reminded of a picture that I encountered several
years ago at a memorial ceremony for the Holocaust. Both sources reveal how love, time, and
death are all connected and reveal moments of beauty even in the most desperate situations. The
director of the movie, David Frankel, uses frequent transitions between layers of reality that leave
the audience confused about whether events are true or if they are simply figments of a disturbed
mind. Similarly, the image s audience is faced with two realities of the past and the present:
Holocaust prisoners and present day Israeli soldiers. This confusion reflects... Show more content

And you betrayed me! I saw you every day in her eyes and I heard you in her voice when she
laughed, and I felt you inside of me when she called me daddy and you betrayed me. You broke
my heart. This rhetorical choice instigates pathos while also showing insight to the main
character s disparity. Also, both pieces use pathos to trigger the viewers emotions. By keeping
their audiences in mind and using the effective rhetoric of pathos, the writer and photographer
make the viewers much more sympathetic towards the subjects. In the movie, Frankel films
excellent actors an effective usage of display, style, and design that help carry out the message
in an impressive matter. The pictures design is formatted in a way that leads the eye from left to
right past to present. The past portrays a time of despair and hopelessness not only for Jews but
also homosexuals, gypsies, the disabled, and any other lifestyles the Nazis deemed unfit. Now, on
the right side of the picture, one can see the current glimpses of hope the soldiers of the Israeli
Defense Forces that protect and serve Israel in efforts to make sure that nothing similar to the
Holocaust will ever happen

Profile of a Hate Crime Offender Essay
Profile of a Hate Crime Offender
Sterilized from emotion, hate crime, also called bias crime, is those offenses motivated in part or
singularly by personal prejudice against other because of a diversity race, sexual orientation,
religion, ethnicity/national origin, or disability. Hate crimes are committed out of anger, ignorance,
and lack of knowledge of another s ideas and beliefs. There are many causes for an individual to
commit a hate crime. Also, many different profiles fit the description of a hate crime offender.
There are ways to prevent and control hate crimes, but they will always be present in society as

Hate crimes are also known by other names. The most commonly employed of such terms is bias
crime, perhaps because it accurately emphasizes that such offenses often arise out of prejudice
toward another group of individuals. In addition, Howard Ehrlich (1990), director of the Prejudice
Institute at Townson State University has coined the term ethno violence to include acts that do not
arise to the legal standard of a crime, but contain an element of prejudice. These hate incidents may,
for example, include the use of ethnic slurs or the exclusion of members of targeted groups from
social activities at the workplace.
From a psychological perspective, prejudice refers to a negative attitude toward individuals based
on their perceived group membership for example, their race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual
orientation. Though as a form of discriminatory behavior, hate crimes often have an attitudinal
dimension, the relationship between prejudice and criminal behavior tends to be complex. There
is reason to believe that certain hate offenses result from some personal bias or hatred. In the
extreme case, a hatemonger may join an organized group in order to devote his life to destroying a
group of people he considers inferior.
At times, certain prejudices become narrowly targeted. Because behavioral scientists have

Journal Entries About Amyasian Whale Hunt
Dear Journal, Yesterday was the great Amyasian whale hunt. Today as I lay in bed waiting for
these cursed wounds to heal I will tell you about it.
It was the 14th of Frost Fall, The sun was shining as the men waited for the vessel Vlad and I
built, it was a mighty ship, three masts, 150 feet long and able to hold a crew of 50 plus a cargo
hold big enough for the crew and the whales.
The ship came around as the men all jumped up in awe, cheering with excitement, Altiak De Bar
cheering the loudest knowing he will gain more power through the loyalty of the men after this
trip, as I looked back the ship was already dropping anchor and sending the skifs to the beach to
pick us up. we all loaded in and got to the boat. After about 30 minutes we were all aboard heading
out the sea for whales, I stood at the stern of the ship watching and everyone milled about sorting
harpoons, fixing the rigging and some just lazing about eating or drinking the ale we brought with
us.

How To Write An Essay About The Holocaust
The Holocaust
Everyone looks at the Holocaust as just a time in history to be remembered. That was exactly my
perspective, until actually looking into this topic. After reading these many articles, ID cards, and
oral histories, my view was instantly switched; almost too much. As most people don t like to think
about the past and bad things that have happened, I think everyone needs to take a few minutes just
to understand the holocaust. The people of the Jewish community during this time had it hard.
They were attacked for no reason and were treated like dirt when they are the same as anyone else.

The Separation Of Powers
Separation of Powers
During the drafting of the United States Constitution at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, a
topic of most importance was the separation of power amongst the three branches of government:
the legislative, judicial, and executive. Following the end of the Constitutional Convention,
Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay wrote a series of essays known as the
Federalist Papers promoting the ratification of the constitution. In it, they responded to the critique
presented by the people known as the anti federalist. In Federalist Papers No. 47 49 51, James
Madison addresses the need to establish the separation of powers, but to further develop them with a

clear lines are drawn to protect the branches from one another but Madison believes that unless

the others, the degree of separation which the maxim requires, as essential to free government, can
never in practice be duly maintained (Madison 1788, 300). Unless the branches are connected and
give each a constitutional control over the others we cannot maintain the separation essential to free
government. The anti federalist believed that the framing of the state constitution just stating the
boundary lines between the branches was enough but something stronger is

The main reasons for the dismissal of U.S. Attorney were unclear. Some people suggested that the

The normal route is for investigative people under the supervision of the lawyer to take the
cudgels of this task. It would be the responsibility of the aggrieved party to collect all medical and
financial documents and all pertinent personal information to the accused. A separate medical
examination, and in certain instances an MRI, is done on the child. This would be the supporting
items to prove there was injury caused to the child at the time of birth.
The deposition comes next, or the evaluation of the collected evidence which is treated individually

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa appears to be gradually slowing down in Liberia, and the spread

education has come in the form of government commissioned music about the disease, but
unfortunately, those efforts were seeing the wrong kind of impact for some time. Now, Liberian
DJs and musicians have been raising awareness by taking a different approach.

In 2013, 10,076 people died because of drunk drivers. One every 52 minutes.
290,000 were injured because of the accidents (MADD). In 2012, 3,328 people died because of
car crashes due to the fact that drivers were on their phones. 421,000 were injured (Texting and

Driving is not an easy task so you should always be attentive to what you re doing. A big
difference between both is being sober and being drunk. Someone that s drunk isn t fully aware of
what s going on. Someone who is sober but is on their phone is more dangerous because they aren t

thing that s most important for both is to keep yourself as well as the people around you safe.
The exact definition of drunk is being in a temporary state in which one s physical and mental
faculties are impaired by an excess of alcoholic drink (Dictionary).
When someone s drunk they are not functioning at their 100%. You will never ask someone to
make an important decision while they re drunk. So why would someone who is drunk drive?
Usually they think they aren t as drunk and are able to drive safely.
That is not a good idea. Driving while drunk can cause a serious accident which will harm you and

The Downward Spiral Analysis
In 1994, Nine Inch Nails released a dark, desolate album called The Downward Spiral. The songs
are known to alternate violently between too low volumes with sweet melody (along with that
soft ragged voice characteristic of grunge) and too high volumes with many layers of white

attempting to find satisfaction in religion, sex, and drug abuse ( Interview ). The album, while
rife with emotional significance on its own, acts as both a prophecy and a cry for help. It
followed a junkie s painful lifestyle, the addiction and abuse functioning solely as a metaphor for

How Did George Jefferson Influence Pop Culture
George Jefferson is a late 90 s television icon, brought to life by Sherman Hemsley. A husband,
father, and entrepreneur; managing to be both the antagonist and protagonist of every show he
has made an appearance in. He made his stride in television and America by introducing a new
portrayal of the black man and the black family, in ways that did not require them to lose their
black identity. Jefferson s importance goes beyond the existence of his fictional depiction. He
played a role in branding a social mark on the real world and in Hollywood. In this paper, I will
explain how George Jefferson made himself a peculiar yet prominent influence in American pop
culture by having substantial success off screen, being a successful businessman on screen, and
being controversial in the safe spaces of Hollywood.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He first made his appearance on the nine season long American sitcom, All in the Family, where
him and his family lived as neighbors and frenemies to the Bunker family. Jefferson s appearance
on this popular show boosted so highly that his brother, who filled George s position in the
Bunkers life, became somewhat of a nuisance to the audience once he returned. Jefferson s
absence, due to his own prejudices against the bigoted Archie Bunker, was completely forgotten
when he stepped onto the screen and captured the hearts and ratings of many across the country.
This lead to his spin off show, The Jeffersons, centered around George Jefferson, his wife,
children, and witty tenants. It became a massive 11 season hit; breaking records, setting trends, and
becoming the second longest running, black leading sitcom. Nearly one third of the country was
tuning into the sitcom every week. George Jefferson s success on and off screen was aided by the
people surrounding him;nonetheless, he figure headed every plot and all directions of his

The Effect Of Different Temperatures On The Reaction Rates...

The Effects of Different Temperatures on the Reaction Rates of Enzymes B. Introduction
/ Background Enzymes are proteins that are in every living organism. Cells need them to survive
and to function. Enzymes are catalysts that help to speed up the rate of reactions that otherwise
would take longer periods of time to occur. However they do not change during the reaction. A
chain of amino acids forms them. There are over a hundred different enzymes in the human body.
Each enzyme is responsible for a certain reaction that occurs in the cell. For instance, the
enzymes in our stomach cut food into small enough particles so it can be converted into energy,
which our bodies will later use. Without enzymes human wouldn t be able to breathe, eat, drink
or digest food. There are 3 main types of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, food enzymes and
digestive enzymes. Metabolic enzymes exist throughout your whole body from your organs to
your blood to inside your bones. This enzyme is essential for the growth of new cells and
maintaining new tissue. Food enzymes exist in raw food. However if the raw food is cooked
the high temperature that is involved in cooking the food will destroy the enzyme. The organs in
our bodies make digestive enzymes. This enzyme plays a major role in digestion. When we eat
raw food we don t need additional enzymes because the raw food already contains them. If we eat
a salad than there are enzymes in the salad that help break

History 1302 83016
January 25 2015 (Read Write #1 Meirion and Susie Harries Do You Want To Live Forever )
Now it was to kill, or to be killed, (Meirion Susie, 1917) said by one of the marine surviving soldier.
The World war one had created such a loss to many people thanks to Woodrow Wilsonand
Ludendorff. The World war one lasted through 1914 till 1918 and the total cost of being thirty
billion dollars. (Random History, n.d.) During the years of the war it was such a struggle for the
Germans, French and the Americans because of the loss to its many people and the struggles the
marines had to go through for their countries peace. In this read and write I will reflect on the
author s argument and how will they support them through out the chapter of Do you want to live
forever , in the book of The Last Days Of Innocence.
Meirion and Susie Harries were the authors of The Last Days Of Innocence. The author s
argument or thesis was the battle had become more psychological rather than strategic in the battle
of Belleau Wood. The reason why I approve with this statement made by the authors is because
they continued analyzing and discussed the struggles and conflicts the marines had to deal with. In
this read and write I will first give you an outline of the topic I ll be discussing. The first topic of
the matter of which I will discuss is the importance characters that were influenced in this chapter
and had contributed to the

The Realities Of Human Trafficking Essay
The Realities on Punishing Human Trafficking Crimes
Out of the thousands of people that have been human trafficking victims each year, only an
insignificant amount of them is actually reported. Imagine being in 8th grade. Having all sorts of
hopes and dreams. Now flash forward to dreams being taken away by a pimp that lures people into
human trafficking. In short, this is true for Holly Austin Smith, a survivor of human trafficking.
The punishment for the pimps that ruin the lives of these young girls is not severe. Therefore,
there is not much aid for the girls after they get rescued from this tragedy. A realization Holly had
soon on and explains, ...Although I was soon recognized to be a victim, the specialized aftercare
needed for a trafficking victim did not yet exist... Twenty years ago, there were no anti
trafficking laws in place. This pimp, who raped and lured a child into prostitution, served only
365 days in jail (Smith). This young girl had recovered from this vile incident all by herself.
Many other girls in her position have gone through similar experiences and have been abused by
their pimp. In addition, the pimp will not receive much punishment. A heartbreaking story repeated
across America and is very prominent in other countries. In America, most of the time victims are
the ones that usually serve time in jail since in some cases it s considered prostitution, even if it
was forced by the pimp. In most cases, the pimps stay uncovered and if the

I Attended University Dance Theatre
I attended University Dance Theatre over the weekend, and after just recently becoming interested
in dance and appreciating dance as an art form I was excited to watch a live dance performance.
There were a total of nine dances, each of which, were choreographed by different people. Not
surprisingly, every dancewas extremely different, and left the audience feeling different emotions.
It was hard picking two dances that I enjoyed the most because they were all fantastic. I picked two
that were simple, in the sense that anyone could determine the reason behind the dance. The first is
powerful, and the second is humorous. It was interesting breaking down the dances, determining the
choreographic and theatrical elements, and concluding the meaning of the dance if any. My
expectations were high going in, and I was not disappointed. Beginning with the powerful dance in
the first half Still?. Still? was preformed by two African American women. I found this dance
interesting because the music was spoken text by Martin Luther King, Jr. in the beginning and
towards the end was poetry that was spoken with strong emotion. The stage lighting was turned
down, almost completely dark, and the two women had dark clothing, which, indicated sorrow,
frustration, and anger almost. The dancers only used a small portion of the stage with no props
and a completely bare stage the focus was directed to the two dancers.
The women had relatively low to medium, sharp movements in some parts

But my personality has a huge roll in this plan. I have to analyze my strengths and weakness
during this process. I consider myself as a perfectionist and a hard worker person and I think these
are good values to treat patients and do the best for them. Similarly, I have development teaching
skill through my life which is an important part to complete my third goal and to transmit my
knowledge to new students. On the other hand, weakness can become obstacles in this plan. I am
not a native English speaker and this can be considered a barrier competing with other
professionals, dealing with patients or teaching native English students. To overcome that I can
refer or contact some mentors that can give really well advises such as the physician that taught me
anatomy, the three PT doctors who were the instructors during my PTA program and some others
professionals I have meet during my observation hours or clinical experiences.
Objectively, I am going to reassess this plan frequently, maybe every month because some change
can be done depending on the experience I am going to be acquired. As I mention early, the
APTA is going to be the primary resource to implement my plan due to the opportunities it can
give us for career development such as PTA Advanced Proficiency Pathways (APP) and PTA to

  • 3. Thomas Hobbes Social Contract Theory Social Contract Theory is the view that a persons moral and/or political obligations are dependent upon a contract or agreement among them to form the society in which they live. It is rightly associated with modern moral and political theory and is given its first full exposition and defense by Thomas Hobbes(Friend). Thomas Hobbes, an English philosopher (1588 1679), lived through a very vital period of the English Civil War, which lasted from 1642 1648. During this time, the King and the Monarchists wanted the traditional authority of a monarchy, while the Parliamentarians did not. Hobbes had an important role in this, because he symbolized a settlement between the two groups. Not only did he reject the theory of the Divine Right of Kings, he also rejected the Parliamentarians democratic view that power should be shared between the King and Parliament. He possesses both radical and conservative characteristics because he rejects both views. One could divide Hobbes political theory into two parts: the first being his theory of human motivation followed by his theory of the social contract, which is based off the theoretical State of Nature. Hobbes theory of human motivation, better known as Psychological Egoism, is the thesis that we are always deep down motivated by what we perceive to be in our own self interest (Friend). The second part of his theory is based on the social contract, which was established on the theoretical State of Nature. Hobbes published the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Writing 2 Yijia Chen In the article, The self in the age of Information, Kenneth Gergen argues that under the information era, technology leads people to lose the self and reflect this lost on the writing. Discussing the same period, Jeremy Rifkin in the chapter A Postmodern Stage showed a more positive perspective about the change. To support his argument, Gergen elaborates damages in the community and institution that nurtured independent self, the direct erosion to solitary self. In the pre modern world, people due to the lack of communication and transportation tools, have fewer opportunities to get in touch with various people outside. Therefore, people form consistent relationships with others, which derive a strong sense of being somebody everyone is familiar with. However, the advances in communication enable people to move household often and be in contact with a wider range of friends leading to average weakening bonds with more and fast changing friends. As a result of the decrease in deep relationships, in Gergen s notion, people receive less sense of identification. Moreover, the multi voices raised today and the suspicions over speakers motivations confuse people from faith to distrust. Other than environmental factors, Gergen addresses the erosion of the essential self directly undermine the intelligibility of the tradition self. Questions On Fourth Amendment Jurisprudence Fourth Amendment jurisprudence is primarily concentrated in four areas: 1) defining searches ; 2) the Warrant Requirement, in which warrantless searches are semantically precluded except in specific and tightly constricted situations; 3) the Probable Cause Requirement, whose exclusive provisions are closely associated with the Warrant Requirement s proscription of police inquiries into same; and, 4) the exclusionary rule, which presumptively excludes any information or evidence gathered in violation of the preceding two (Rickless, 2005). The Court has continued to delineate areas, which fall outside the parameters of the restrictions placed upon government officials through the Fourth Amendment. The Court has ruled that the areas carved out which include exceptions to the basic tenets of the Fourth Amendment, commonly known as warrantless searches, may be conducted if circumstances are such that the interests of society outweigh the invasiveness of the action. The Court has have recognized special situations in which warrants were not required, including: border searches; consent searches; container searches; exigent circumstances; searches incident to a lawful arrest; plain view; special needs; stop and frisk; and inventory searches. • 7. Women s Influence On The Field Of Psychology Throughout the early days of psychology, opportunities for women where limited and it was an extremely difficult time for women to become apparent in the field of psychology. Women struggled for equality in the field of psychology and this began with our pioneers, Mary Whiton Calkins, who sat her PhD but was never awarded it, Margaret Washburn, being the first women to be awarded a PhD and Christine Ladd Franklin. Since these women made their breakthrough there has been more and more women contributing their knowledge to many areas in psychology such as, Anna Freud, who became influenced by her father s theories and created her own theories in psychoanalysis. Karen Horney who contributed a substantial amount to the personality theory and later became interested in feminine psychology, Melanie Klein and Mary Ainsworth, just to name a few. These women faced several societal constraints and long held beliefs about the role of women in their era. At that time the societal belief was that women where intellectually inferior to men and responding to this judgement, male psychologists attempted to develop theories about what could happen to women if they did try to enter higher education. This paper will outline the contribution to the field of psychology that has been made by a female psychologist. This paper will focus on the contributions made by Mary D. Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the main cause of decreased vision in diabetic retinopathy [1]. It was shown that the 10 year cumulative incidence of diabetic macular edema was 20.1% in type 1 diabetes and 25.4% in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin [2]. The management of DME includes strict glycemic and blood pressure control [3 5]. Argon laser treatment for clinically significant macular edema (CSME) has been the mainstay treatment according to the Early Treatment Diabetic RetinopathyStudy (ETDRS) study that demonstrated a 50% reduction in moderate visual loss following focal laser photocoagulation [6,7]. The conventional Argon laser treatment is associated with heat to the surrounding tissues such as the neurosensory retina and the choroid leading to collateral thermal damage. The greyish endpoint of a laser burn means that the temperature is high enough to change the transparency of the retina [8]. Possible side effects of conventional macular laser photocoagulation include visual loss due to accidental foveal photocoagulation, pre and sub retinal fibrosis, choroidal neovascularization, visual field scotomas, decreased color vision and progressive expansion of the laser scars into the fovea [9 12]. A learned writer in ancient Alexandria, named Hero, wrote a manuscript describing various devices and ideas of the time. Although it is not proven that Hero was the inventor of any of these devices, he is given credit for the earliest mention of steam power. Hero describes a method to open the doors of a temple with the action of a fire on the alter at the front of the temple. A series of pipes runs between the alter and the temple doors. The force of the steam created by the fire on the alter is strong enough to open the temple doors. The essential principle that Hero used was to change heat energy into mechanical energy or work. Supposedly, Hero continued his work and ended up creating what is often called the First Steam Engine. Hero s engine is featured on below on the right. The cauldron or bowl like portion AB holds water. There is a steam tight cover place over top of the cauldron. Two pipes extend from the lid and suspend a globe directly above the cauldron. The water is heated, causing steam to be created and forced through the pipes. The globe then fills with steam. The Characteristics Of Doctor Faustus As A Renaissance Text 1719963 EN6001 Renaissance When answering the question of whether Doctor Faustus can be classified as a Renaissance text we must first find out what the Renaissance is how we define the artistic and scholastic pursuits that come from this age. We know that Renaissance just means to be reborn or rebirth. The dictionary definition of the Renaissance age is the revival of European art and literature under the influence of classical models in the 14th 16th centuries. The period before the Renaissance is known as the Dark or Middle ages. It is known for a decline in the arts and the pursuit of such things. The Renaissance wasn t only known for a growth in arts but also in the pursuit of knowledge. This was a rebirth of man questioning his identity and his place in the universe. During this period there was an explosion in science and discovering not only how the world works but how to make the world easier for us. This only drove some to question more though man and his place in society. Many people believed that if science went too far, if man tried to know too much or things he should not dabble in then it was going to be the fall of us from grace. While others thought that science had nothing to do with religion or God and that in fact it was our right as humans to try and learn more and grow as a race. Due to this and the resurgence of religion during this period there was much tension between people and their ideas. There was much call for reform from both sides, some ... • 23. Pathos In Sacred Beauty Collateral beauty a simple phrase that contains a plethora of complexity. After watching Allen Loeb s film Collateral Beauty I was quickly reminded of a picture that I encountered several years ago at a memorial ceremony for the Holocaust. Both sources reveal how love, time, and death are all connected and reveal moments of beauty even in the most desperate situations. The director of the movie, David Frankel, uses frequent transitions between layers of reality that leave the audience confused about whether events are true or if they are simply figments of a disturbed mind. Similarly, the image s audience is faced with two realities of the past and the present: Holocaust prisoners and present day Israeli soldiers. This confusion reflects... By keeping their audiences in mind and using the effective rhetoric of pathos, the writer and photographer make the viewers much more sympathetic towards the subjects. In the movie, Frankel films excellent actors an effective usage of display, style, and design that help carry out the message in an impressive matter. The pictures design is formatted in a way that leads the eye from left to right past to present. The past portrays a time of despair and hopelessness not only for Jews but also homosexuals, gypsies, the disabled, and any other lifestyles the Nazis deemed unfit. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hate crimes are also known by other names. The most commonly employed of such terms is bias crime, perhaps because it accurately emphasizes that such offenses often arise out of prejudice toward another group of individuals. In addition, Howard Ehrlich (1990), director of the Prejudice Institute at Townson State University has coined the term ethno violence to include acts that do not arise to the legal standard of a crime, but contain an element of prejudice. These hate incidents may, for example, include the use of ethnic slurs or the exclusion of members of targeted groups from social activities at the workplace. From a psychological perspective, prejudice refers to a negative attitude toward individuals based on their perceived group membership for example, their race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. Though as a form of discriminatory behavior, hate crimes often have an attitudinal dimension, the relationship between prejudice and criminal behavior tends to be complex. There is reason to believe that certain hate offenses result from some personal bias or hatred. Introduction / Background Enzymes are proteins that are in every living organism. Cells need them to survive and to function. Enzymes are catalysts that help to speed up the rate of reactions that otherwise would take longer periods of time to occur. However they do not change during the reaction. A chain of amino acids forms them. There are over a hundred different enzymes in the human body. Each enzyme is responsible for a certain reaction that occurs in the cell. For instance, the enzymes in our stomach cut food into small enough particles so it can be converted into energy, which our bodies will later use. Without enzymes human wouldn t be able to breathe, eat, drink or digest food. There are 3 main types of enzymes: metabolic enzymes, food enzymes and digestive enzymes. Metabolic enzymes exist throughout your whole body from your organs to your blood to inside your bones. This enzyme is essential for the growth of new cells and maintaining new tissue. Food enzymes exist in raw food. However if the raw food is cooked the high temperature that is involved in cooking the food will destroy the enzyme. The organs in our bodies make digestive enzymes. This enzyme plays a major role in digestion. When we eat raw food we don t need additional enzymes because the raw food already contains them. • 44. I Attended University Dance Theatre I attended University Dance Theatre over the weekend, and after just recently becoming interested in dance and appreciating dance as an art form I was excited to watch a live dance performance. There were a total of nine dances, each of which, were choreographed by different people. Not surprisingly, every dancewas extremely different, and left the audience feeling different emotions. It was hard picking two dances that I enjoyed the most because they were all fantastic. I picked two that were simple, in the sense that anyone could determine the reason behind the dance. The first is powerful, and the second is humorous. It was interesting breaking down the dances, determining the choreographic and theatrical elements, and concluding the meaning of the dance if any. My expectations were high going in, and I was not disappointed. Beginning with the powerful dance in the first half Still?. Still? was preformed by two African American women. I found this dance interesting because the music was spoken text by Martin Luther King, Jr. in the beginning and towards the end was poetry that was spoken with strong emotion. The stage lighting was turned down, almost completely dark, and the two women had dark clothing, which, indicated sorrow, frustration, and anger almost. The dancers only used a small portion of the stage with no props and a completely bare stage the focus was directed to the two dancers. The women had relatively low to medium, sharp movements in some parts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I consider myself as a perfectionist and a hard worker person and I think these are good values to treat patients and do the best for them. Similarly, I have development teaching skill through my life which is an important part to complete my third goal and to transmit my knowledge to new students. On the other hand, weakness can become obstacles in this plan. I am not a native English speaker and this can be considered a barrier competing with other professionals, dealing with patients or teaching native English students. To overcome that I can refer or contact some mentors that can give really well advises such as the physician that taught me anatomy, the three PT doctors who were the instructors during my PTA program and some others professionals I have meet during my observation hours or clinical experiences. Objectively, I am going to reassess this plan frequently, maybe every month because some change can be done depending on the experience I am going to be acquired. As I mention early, the APTA is going to be the primary resource to implement my plan due to the opportunities it can give us for career development such as PTA Advanced Proficiency Pathways (APP) and PTA to Bachelor Degree ...
