Essay On The Nomination Process
Nonetheless, the difference in party alignment has clear implications for the nomination process.
During the nomination process, you are facing other members of your party to fight for the single
nomination for the general election. This means you have to fight over voters with quite similar
ideologies. This would exclude the extreme number of people from the other party, and perhaps
many people who are in the middle and cannot decide which way to lean yet. Due to this, candidates
must strategize their rhetoric and conduct to appeal to the most extreme members of the party.
Studies have shown that the people who vote in primary electionsare in general more highly
educated, and indicate more party activism/pride (Lecture Notes).
For as long as this process has seemed to get the job done, people this election cycle have been
curious if certain changes could be made to the nomination process that would allow for more
suitable candidates in the future, especially considering the displeasure of this current elections ...

The most important thing we can do as a nation is to be aware of what is happening, and why it is
happening, because a true democracy is an informed democracy. Fighting for our values and
beliefs is all we can really do, and we need to make sure we are expressing our opinions in a
respectful and constructive manner because this is the only way people will actually take the
time to listen to what you have to say. Is our system perfect? Perhaps not, but this is the system
we have been given and it is our prerogative to take advantage of it. If something or someone is
impeding our ability to speak our minds or is challenging our freedom, it is the people s
responsibility to gather together to fight for positive reform, in order to make our democracy as
flawless and efficient as

The Indus Valley Civilization
The Indus valley civilizations was an intriguing and sophisticated ancient culture and also a major
contributor in the development of what later came to be known as Hinduism . The civilization
was founded accidentally in the 19th century when the British engineers were searching for ballast
for a railway line in north western India (which is now modern day Pakistan) and found the
remains of what seemed to be an ancient city which was only known only to locals until then. In
the early 20th century, when other similar sites were uncovered, archaeologists realized the
significance of the discovery, which turned out to be one of the most prospering civilizations of the
ancient world. It is called The Indus Valley Civilizationbecause most of its settlements are situated
along the banks of the Indus River .The largest and most important of this civilization were its two
prospering cities known as Mohenjo Daro and Harappa. These names are of post Indus origin as
they were given with reference to the towns built much later on the ruins of these ancient cities.
During their prosperous period,, Mohenjo Daro and Harappa had a population of around 40 50
thousand, which was a lot by ancient standards. Both of these cities were highly organized and
strategically planned, and displayed remarkably similar features during their excavation. Given the
structure of the cities, archaeologists suggest that there may have been a central authority for code
enforcement and the Harappan

Similarities Between Organized Crime In Japan And America
Organized Crimes in Japan and America
Throughout the world organized crimes have had an unfortunately large effect on different
countries. Organized crimes have been circling around for many years. In most countries, organized
crimes have increased while in others, it has decreased. Organized crimes is a category of
transnational, national, or local groupings of highly centralized enterprises run by criminals, who
intend to engage in illegal activity, most commonly for monetary profit. Although the world are
surrounded by different organized crimes, Japan and America have the most successful criminals in
organized crime. They have many similarities and differences within their judicial system. The
Yakuza, Fukuoak, and The Mafiaare just some of the organized criminals groups in Japan and
America. Japan has some of the larger gangs in the world. In 2010 the Yakuza police arrested an...

For instance in April 2010 four men Japanese men were caught smuggling illegal drugs into the
country and were then executed. Drug smugglers have gotten smarter, are no longer using ships
to get their drugs to Japan because the risk was very high of getting caught. They are now

because it is expensive and they have very few illegal drugs in Japan that gangs an drug dealers
can get their hands on in the country. In an article titled Trafficking In Women From Thailand to

Though Offred s mind has been affected by the indoctrination, she still expresses her individualism
throughout the novel. This is seen through small acts of rebellion like when she takes the butter to
use as moisturizer and by manipulating language to retain what is left of her sense of humour. It s
an event, a small defiance of rule, so small as to be undetectable, but such moments are the rewards
[she] hold[s] out for [her]self, like the candy [she] hoarded, as a child, at the back of a drawer.
Offred relies on these rewards because they symbolize an opportunity for individuality, whether it is
sneaking a look at one of the guardians or touching herself during the night, she attempts to clutch
at what arguably makes her human. Contrastingly, when given a substantial choice by the doctor,
she remains indecisive and almost apathetic which leads to the diminishment of the readers
sympathy. This would suggest that it isn t the society that is responsible for the dehumanisation of
the individual, it is the individual themselves.
The most substantial difference, however is the way in which both writers convey the importance
of retaining individualism in society. Zamyatin uses the characters D 503 and I 330 in contrast to
each other to display different schools of thought in the situation surrendering ones individualism
for a collective dream and rebelling because (as

The World s 10 Largest Firms And Their Sources Of Economies
Name Tutor Institution Course Date 1. The world s 10 largest firms and their sources of
economies of scale The two conventional financial clarifications for the development of firms
have been economies of scale and economies of degree. Economies of scale emerge when a firm
brings down its every unit generation expenses of a specific item by creating in more prominent
amount. Division of work through specialization is one reason every unit expenses diminish as
generation increments. Adam Smith depicted in the eighteenth century how a pin plant can
expand its yield essentially if every specialist over and over performs a particular undertaking in
the creation prepare as opposed to having every laborer freely make complete pins without any
preparation (Ayyagari,2011). In current MNCs, economies of scale exist in view of division of
work as well as by consolidating, and regularly supplanting, human work with automated generation.
Interest in substantial scale creation gear and the most recent innovations is by and large
exceptionally extravagant. Organizations that have substantial economies of scale have solid points
of interest over their rivals in light of the fact that they have logistic or value preferences, and in
this way pull in more clients and set their size preference considerably more. It makes a criticism
circle of achievement that adversaries have a troublesome time managing. Organizations that

Filial Piety In Ancient China
Since ancient times, China has been known as the Celestial Empire . This not only referenced to
China s strength and positions as East Asia s Middle Kingdom but, also to the idea that the divine,
through various dynasties, gives out a rich and abundant culture to the Chinese people. This culture
has been said to have begun with the Yellow Emperor, which was 5,00 years ago. In addition, the
three main religions of China: Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism; which started 5,00 years
ago contributed to the making of the Chinese Culture. The Taoist believed that Chinese culture
was highly influenced by the sage Lao Zi over 2,500 years ago in his book Dao De Jing (Tao Te

It is common courtesy to give gifts on birthdays, weddings, or visiting one s parents or family. If
one is invited to a family party it is common to give gifts like wine, tea, cigarettes, fruit pastries,
flowers or candies. In return it is expected that the gift giver gets a thank you note, a phone call
or any other gesture of thank you. What varies is how receivers may react. Due to Chinese
etiquette, Chinese people tend to be more humble. Therefore, one might repeatedly express how
truly unnecessary the gift is after, one receives a sincere thank you. However, this does make it

Gold and Its Demand
Running Head: Gold and Its Demand Gold and Its Demand In the year 2008, the prices of gold
fell down to $9oo from $1,035. This was a drastic downfall in the price of gold in 2008 and this
has directly affected investors in a number of ways. The investors suffered losses of large
margin and in addition to this, many of the investors had paid from ten to fifty percent of the
deposits of their shares and when a downfall occurred in the prices of gold, many of the investors
lost almost whole amount of their capital. Beside this, the fall in the prices of gold was less as
compared to other equities and commodities (Bohm, 2011, pg 34 39). The year 2008 changed
the shape of competition among the gold investors and the main characteristic of this year was
the failure of government in the banking industry. The entire economy was suffered in this year
and in this year of deflation; the affect on gold was a decrease in price. Gold prices fall to $690,
then came back to $800 but then once again fall down due to poor financial conditions. The
value of $ which was less at the start of 2008, started to increase during the mid of the year and
the economy was becoming better but again at the end of the same year, the value of $ began to
decrease and this had a direct impact on the prices of gold. In addition to this, the central bank of
different countries started decreasing their interest rates and loans were provided on easy terms and
conditions. Interest rate offered by the Swedish

God Of Carnage Analysis
God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza is centered upon two upper class couples who come together to
discuss a fight between their boys. Through this meeting, they become their children fighting,
causing absolute chaos and carnage of the situation. All of them lose their objective in the end of
wanting to solve the problem of their boys and to be the most civilized, powerful couple in the
situation. Specifically Annette, played by junior Sarah Cushman, ultimately loses her battle of
maintaining a civilized demeanor due to the killing of Veronica and Michael s hamster, her
husband s work related calls, and drunkenly listening to Veronica about being a phony when
emotions were already at their peak. One of the first conversations is about Michael getting... Show

At this time, Veronica insulted Henry, Annette and Alan s son, and, in turn, Annette stood up for
her son. She was then called a phony by the other couple, prompting her to leave. As Alan was
not paying attention, per usual, she grabbed the tulips and beat him with them, bawling about
how it is the worst day of her life, too. At this point, she has lost all civility and power. She
embarrassed herself and nothing was solved with the meeting. Cushman stuck with her given
circumstances so well by the point. She was defensive of her child, her husband lacked the
attention and care to deal with the situation, she was drunk which caused her emotions to escalate,
and she knew she had not been civil. Cushman allowed the audience to see the defeat of Annette.
There were many more moments when Annette failed to reach her super objective, but the fate of
the hamster, the destruction of Alan s cell phone, and her reaction to being called a phony all were
major points in losing civility and represented her downfall into causing carnage. Her downfall was
clearly articulated by Sarah Cushman and overall every point of outrageous activity was justified
by playing into the given

Definition Of Poverty
There are a number of definitions of poverty. It is a multifaceted notion which includes social,
economic, and political components. How we define poverty is critical to politics, policy and
academic debates about the concept. It is bound up with explanations and has implications for
solutions. (Lister, 2004 as cited in Class notes, 2017). The United Nations, first established in 1945
shortly after the second world war, was created to promote international co operation and maintain
international order (UN, 2017). The global term for povertyis defined by using the Gross National
Product (GNP) and Gross Domestic Product(GDP). Both defined by the World Bank, GNP uses
market valuations to measure national income: GNP per capita (each person) gives an
indication of the typical material living standards of a nation, whereas, GDP is a measure of the
total market value of goods and services output and their economic activity. The United Nations
set the bar at the minimum daily income of $1.25 (93 pence) per day (Class notes, 2017). If you
are living on less than this you are classed as living in absolute poverty. How poverty is measured
is a contested concept and has had researchers long trying to establish a fixed method of
determining. The four main concepts are absolute poverty, relative poverty and deprivation,
consensual poverty, and social exclusion (Class notes, 2017). The concept of absolute poverty was
developed in the 19th century by Joseph Rowntree and was

The Principles of Scientific Management and Its...
The Principles of Scientific Management and its Applications in Modern Day Organizations
Introduction
Managers have been continuously trying to figure out the best way to manage the workplace since
the start of the industrial revolution. The goal is to maximize production output and minimize cost
therefore getting maximized profit while still keeping workers happy and motivated. Different
methods have been introduced and tested. But perhaps one of the most influential and popular
ideas in management is scientific management or taylorism as people know it. Taylorism, along
with fordism, which follows after, are considered to be the classical work organization. The reason
behind this is because; these ideas correspond to the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This would make the production a lot quicker as the tasks are going to be less complicated. For
example, in a company that produces chair, the task in making the chair would be separated to,
cutting the parts off wood, assembly of the parts, paint and finishing touches, but even this can still
be separated into smaller components. This will result in reducing the skill required for a task
The second principal is separate planning and doing. At the time, workers do all the planning and
doing, in taylorism, the planning are taken from the workers and given to managers. This would
make planning more optimal; standardizing every task. Before, workers would do his job with
the way that he thinks is best, without or with only little help from the management. Now, the
managers bear new duties, which are; first is developing a science in a man s work for each
element, second is to select the workmen in a scientific way and the train and develop them, third
is cooperating with the men to insure that all the work are being done according to the principles
of science that was developed, and the fourth is the responsibility of the workers and the managers
are now divided almost equally.
The third is the separation of direct and indirect labour. The skilled workers (direct labour) are
removed of all preparations and servicing tasks, and instead performed by unskilled and cheaper
labour (indirect labour). Because of the first principle, which is maximum

Science Of Space Exploration And Identification Of The Moon
Is there a single person who has not been over the moon? Who has not reached for the moon,
mooned over someone, or promised the moon away? Every once in a blue moon, one might find a
person who has seemingly hung the moon and stars. Yet we know far more about Earth s lunar
companion than just the idioms associated with it. Humans have been observing the moonfor
thousands of years. Scientists have been documenting, discovering, and debating this body for
ages. Centuries of research have catalyzed discussion concerning the Moon s origin, innovative
development of space exploration, and identification of the Moon s features. By addressing and
analyzing scientist s data on these topics lunar formation theories, moon landing missions, and
specific lunar features we may gain further understanding of the history and characteristics of
Earths Moon. Five main theories exist to explain how Earth attained its moon. The first suggests
that the Moon formed somewhere else in the solar system. Then Earth s gravitational pull
disrupted the Moon s original orbit, capturing it and locking it in a new orbital path. While this
theory does explain how the Moon came to revolve around the Earth, it does not give specific
information about its actual formation. Senior writer for Space.com, Mike Wall (2014), points out
a few flaws in this hypothesis, the most serious problem being the geochemical similarity of the
Earth and Moon (Capture, para. 2). If the moon had formed far away from

Management Should Have the Right to Allow a Union in the...
History shows that there has been conflict of power within the workforce between union and
management. This essay will discuss if management should have the right to determine whether a
union should operate within their workplace. It is necessary first to discuss the roles of unions and
management in the workplace and discuss both points of view on the power distribution between
unions and managementin the workplace.
The rise of industrial age led to the rise of industrial factory systems. As the industries grew larger
as well as the workplace, it required more employees. As the employees grew in the workplace,
their relationship with the employer became less personal hence individuals lost power. (History of
Labor Unions Summary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, the unitarist management views trade/Labor unions and government mandated Labor
standards as unnecessary. If management is applying effective policies and has good
communication with its employees then conflict will not be an issue, hence conflict is seen as a
result of poor management. Management with this frame of reference tend to be against unions
and government intervention hence will not want unions in their workplace. However, many
manager and employees tend to see their workplace or firms in unitary term and are happy with
their situations. So in order to avoid conflict management will provide a better working
environment, decent wages and work flexibility. However, this perspective is market based
because if the company with these frame of reference have goals that are not met, maximisation of
profit, then they will tend to cut cost in order to meet this goal. This will lead to several cuts in the
workplace such as bonuses, paid leaves and so on.
The pluralist frame of reference in management is a complete opposite of unitarist view in terms of
unions. The pluralist management perspective consist of employees and employers bargaining in
imperfect labor markets in the presence of pluralist conflict. Pluralist conflict is an employment
relationship consisting of multiple interest such as employers might want flexibility, intense pace of
work, lower Labor cost while employees might want

A Dirty Little Secret Of Leadership Development Essay
A dirty little secret of leadership development is there are few truly new and innovative ideas.
Recently published books, tools, and concepts repackage ideas from decades or centuries ago to
address the needs of twenty first century leaders and organizations. For example, Amazon lists
Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin as
the current best seller in business management and leadership. Willink and Babin s ideas are solid
and their stories are both inspiring and compelling. Nonetheless their concepts are not new.
Academicians, practitioners, and leaders have highlighted these same principles for decades:
check the ego, prioritize and execute, and decisiveness amid uncertainty, to name a select few.
This is not a criticism, rather a reality of the leadership industry. Accordingly my contributions to
the field are not uniquely inventive. Rather I excel at packaging existing ideas in creative, simple,
and applicable ways that address my clients needs and inspire impactful leadership. I recently
shared a set of risktaking tools with a client that demonstrates this skill.
The executive marketing team for a specific product group in a global foods company asked me to

The Mediterranean Diet And Allergies
The Mediterranean Diet and Allergies Springtime often leaves many people sniffling and
sneezing, and while antihistamine pills are effective, it can leave you feeling exhausted and
foggy. While the use of medication works well, it should never be solely relied upon.
Sometimes there are other solutions to try first before you head to the medicine cabinet. You
ever hear the term you are what you eat ? Well, that statement couldn t be more true, what you
put into your body will affect your performance and how you feel. Think of your body as a high
performance sports vehicle; you wouldn t put low grade fuel or oil into your car. If you did, it
wouldn t run very well and that will lead to expensive repairs later on down the road. Where is
the logic in this? The same idea applies to your body, so start treating yourself like a high
performance vehicle. May is National Mediterranean Diet Month, so use this time to incorporate
this ancient way of eating into your daily diet. The Mediterranean diet is not a new fad, it has
quite a bit of history behind it, and the best part is it s not an overly restrictive, fad diet. In fact,
many people find this diet to be easy to follow and incorporate. One of the greatest aspects of this
way of eating, is that following the Mediterranean diet may help or eliminate your need for
antihistamine medication due to the compounds that are found naturally within the food that makes
up this diet. This includes: Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Fish

This is the most important part of the life cycle of a social problem . This part have huge impact
on how and what solutions are considered. During this debate there are a couple of various causal
interpretations. One of these is a systematic attribution which the critical approach leans
towards. In way of thinking the system itself is problematic and generates difficulties for the
individual. This means that the issue is a problem and the person or group of people that
brought forth this issue will have to show why it is a problem in the social world. This can

interpreting a situation is called personal attribution. This is primarily used by dominated groups

Technology A Disconnection
Opinion Piece Technology: A Disconnection Over the past few years, technology has become a
significant part of people s every day lives. It helps people connect with those far away, but in the
process, disconnects themselves from others close with them. Technology has helped improve the
lives of many people through transportation and more, but overall has torn us apart. The constant
usage of technology has people s eyes glued to a small screen; they often forget to communicate
with those around them. Cell phones have developed over the years to become not only a way to

The urge to be connected has become more of an addiction than a form of convenient
communication; due to the amount of time people spend on technology. This causes a severe
disconnection with others around them. People spend more time looking at the perfect lives of
other celebrities, that they forget to enjoy what is around them. If people spend more time looking
up from their screens, they could make more friendships or companionships with other people.
Imagine all the possible conversations you missed because you were too busy talking to people
through a screen, instead of those around you. People often use their means of technology as a way
to distract them or avoid talking to others. Perhaps this is due to the social disconnect they have
with others around them. If people spend less time on technology, more connections with people
would form. You would have more time to do things you want to do, such as reading, exercise, or
more. Instead of connecting with people through technology, we should make connections with
people close to us the top priority. After years of being developed, technology specifically and
computers have been used too much, that they cause a disconnection instead of a connection.
Technology has its benefits, but in many cases, it is often unnecessary and a waste of time. People
should spend less time connecting through technology, and reconnect with those around

Compare And Differences Of Fidel Castro And Augusto Pinochet
Compare and contrast the manners in which two authoritarian leaders [Fidel Castro and Augusto
Pinochet] established and maintained their rule during their respective reigns.
Throughout the course of history, several authoritarian leaders have risen to power and maintained
their acquired power through physical, violent means. Two authoritarian leaders that have
transformed their acquired power into dictatorial rights are Fidel Castro of Cuba and Augusto
Pinochet of Chile. Interestingly, Castro and Pinochet differed in their ideals about the ideal
structure of governments. While Castro advocated for a socialist, Marxist, anti imperialist Cuba,
Pinochet favored a anti Marxist, anti socialist, capitalist Chile. Despite their differing ideals, both
shared several similarities in their efforts to establish and maintain their power. Both individuals
rose to power in a similar manner: a sort of coup d Г©tat. Both individuals maintained power
through positive and negative means. Castro and Pinochet introduced several economic reforms
that mostly benefited the people of Cuba and Chile. While these economic reforms allowed for the
financial freedom of many Cubans and Chileans, the dictatorial rulers politically repressed the
residents of Cuba and Chile. While many historians believe that Castro and Pinochet greatly
differed due to their opposing beliefs, both dictators share multiple similarities in the ways that they
rose to power, negatively maintained power, and positively

why history is so important, and why we need to make America great. It all started on Saturday,
April first, eighteen sixty five in City Point, Virginia. Lincoln was known for his strong religion,
and trustworthy personality. (O Reilly 11). The Civil war had just began and Lincoln was
horrified. He just wanted to capture General Robert E. Lee, and force them to surrender. If
Lincoln cannot make this happen, the Civil War can go on for years. (O Reilly 14). Lincoln is

General Ulysses Grant to be the captain and to recruit his army. Grant has Lee blocked on all three

The Holocaust And The Extermination Of The Holocaust
Imagine hiding days/ months in a basement because of your race. Imagine being taken away
from your house in the middle of the night. Imagine a four years old being given up by his
family for a better future. Imagine your mom being killed because she is not productive to the
society and your dad being forced to hard labor, including moving dead bodies of people from a
place to another, for years. Imagine doing this and knowing that this one day can happens to
you. . This was the Holocaust. The holocaust is known as the extermination of 6 millions of Jews
by the Nazis during Hitler dictatorship. It all began when Hitler was given the opportunity by
Hindenburg to be Germany s chancellor on January 30, 1933. This opportunity turned in an
abuse of power, in fact Hitler governed Germany according to his belief. Hitler, and the Nazis
more in general, strongly believed in the German biological superiority. According to the article
Before Germans Slaughtered Jews They Slaughtered Africans , a mixed society in Germany was
seen as a threat to the national s identity. Jews, in particular, were considered sub human. For this
reason, under Hitler s Nazi regime, they were treated as animal or way differently from Germans.
But the separation occurred gradually; in fact, at the beginning of his governance, Jews had to
leave their homes and were placed in assigned ghettos where little or no food was available to
them. As months passed, ulterior separations occurred. Old

Importance Of Sex Education
Sex education provides information on sex, bodily development, sexuality, and aids in the making
of informed decisions in relationships regarding sex. Sex is human nature, yet it is still censored
heavily especially to adolescents who are developing and approaching the stage of puberty. Sex
education is about creating awareness and knowledge for those who are confused or have never
been talked to about human development and reproduction. Sex educationshould not be censored in
schools; rather it should be taught accordingly to help prevent unhealthy sexual relationships and
understand body changes as they age.
First, parents tend to avoid discussing sex and puberty with their children and still wonder why
there are many adolescents who have unprotected sex at a young age. From personal experience,
my parents always tried avoiding questions like How are babies brought to life? and What is a
period? . They would shrug and say I will learn in school. Though, these sensitive topics were
never really covered in school. Of course, we had the basic sexual education classes that talked
about girls getting their periods, sex protection, infections and diseases, but certain information was
still banned. For example, both men and women genital areas were censored. What I do not
understand is why that type of information is censored. It is part of life and is something everybody
will eventually see as they start having intimate relationships. In addition, it is important for both

Comprehensive Sexual Education or Bust
In the united states, there are two schools of thought when it comes to educating students on human
sexuality. Sexual education is a broad term that applies to the teaching to information from basic
contraceptive use, biological reproduction, the spread of infectious disease, and sexuality. One type
of sexual education is referred to as Comprehensive Sexual Education. Comprehensive Sexual
Education is curriculum rooted in health and life skills, that strives to teach students medically
accurate information on healthy relationships, development, side effects and benefits of birth control
methods, abstinence lifestyles, and how to avoid unwanted sexual advances. The other type of

Consent is not the only lacking aspect in Sex Education throughout the country, a lot of important
ideas and information is debated and left out of the classroom due to fears of stepping on toes,
or touching on age old ideas about sex and religion. Over the years many have argued that
parents personal liberties must be protected when it comes to educating their children. In most
states these liberties are presented in a manor that allows for the religious opposition to sexual
education. Robert P. George and Melissa Moschella, academics from Princeton recently
published an article titled Does Sex Ed Undermine Parental Rights? in the New York Times,
about the idea that Sexual Education does in fact violate parental rights and liberties. Here, in a
selection from the piece, even the secular side of the argument against Sex Ed in the classroom
is visible, True, the state needs to protect children from abuse and neglect. It is also true that the
state has a legitimate interest in reducing teenage pregnancy and the spread of sexually
transmitted diseases. But it is not abuse or neglect to protect the innocence of preteenage children
or to teach one s children more conservative, as opposed to more liberal, moral values. Nor is it
wrong or unreasonable to limit the state s control over what one s children learn and think about
sensitive issues of morality...Turning a classroom into a mandatory catechism lesson for a contested
ideology is a serious

Civil Disobedience Speech
For some people civil disobedience may be a good thing. For others, not so much. Civil
disobedience is the refusal to comply with certain, as a peaceful form of political protest. It has
been used in the past many times. One of them is one of the most important things that have
happened to the USA. That is The Declaration of the thirteen United States of America. Today, it
doesn t always help. The cops just get into it way too easily. It just causes people having to bail out
the people that are using civil disobedience. The people that believe in civil disobedience do not
care about what the government says. But, they re just making it worse for themselves. They still
think that it fixes the law or makes some changes. Of course doing all of that with non violence. It
says Civil Disobedience is the act of disobeying a law on grounds of moral or political principle. It
is an attempt to influence society to accept a dissenting point of view. Although it usually uses
tactics of nonviolence, it is more than mere passive resistance since it often takes active forms such
as illegal street demonstrations or peaceful occupations of premises. At least, that s what they think.
Others are assured that civil disobedience isn t the right thing. Just leave it to the government and let

The Overcrowding of Prisons Essays
According to Mark Early, president of the Prison Fellowship International, the Bureau of Justice
Statistics report shows that there are 19 states that have prisons operating at 100 percent capacity
and another 20 are falling right behind them. There is no wonder why the overcrowding of
prisons is being discussed everywhere. Not to mention how serious this predicament is and how
serious it can get. Many of the United States citizens don t understand why this is such a serious
matter due to the fact that some of them believe it s not their problem. Therefore they just don t
care about it. Also, some Americans may say that they don t care about what could happen to the

That was two years ago and the prison population have continued to grow since then, so can you
imagine what it is now? Now, think of what the prisoners have to go through. Andrea Caumont
shared some of the problems prisoners are having, because of prison overcrowding. She says that
in California the United States Supreme Court told the state to reduce its prison population,
because overcrowded conditions are amounting to cruel and unusual punishment. Can you imagine
what must be happening for the Supreme Court to rule it as cruel and unusual punishment? Not
only are they being punished cruelly, the prisoners are also losing their opportunities to
participate in the prisons self improvement programs and the vocational training, because there is
less of everything to go around. Therefore all resources, even food, are being stretched to the max.
(John Howard goes into more detail on this issue in his paper The Effects of Prison Overcrowding
on the P.A.T.R.I.C.K Crusade website.) The prisoners are not the only ones being affected by this
problem, this problem is affecting everyone.
The overcrowding of prisons can date back to the 1850 s, when they imprisoned debtors, delinquent
juveniles, minor misdemeanants and felons all together with no separation. The King Edwards
Public School students created their own website

Impact Of Technology On The Banking Industry
Changing Technologies The change and advancement in technology are a significant factor in the
banking business. Technology has led to tremendous improvements in this industry. Since the
commencement of this millennium, people have shown great love for their mobile phones
(Ozaki 1992). It necessitated the invention of mobile applications (APPs). From the introduction
of the mobile banking, APP people rarely go to the banks. All their transactions get done simply
by the stroke of a finger. Businesses face a challenge of adapting to changes in the technology
sector. Mobile banking either through actual investing or any other means is on the rise.
According to the most recent Federal Reserve study; most of us haven t set foot in a banking hall
in ages. It is a lost battle to banks that opt to use traditional methods to conduct their banking
transactions (Gup 2003). By December of last year, close to half of all smartphone users in the
United States had transacted some or all of their banking on their phones and iPhones. In the
United Kingdom alone, rates of mobile banking transactions doubled over the course of a single
year (Scn Education 2001). A banking business that invests in this type of technology gets assured
of increasing their customer base. Continued Globalization of markets involving 1st and 2nd world

1953 he married his wife Jean Fraser Kerr Minetti. They had an adopted child named Tierney
Elizabeth. Also in 1953 McCarthy began his second term of senator. McCarthy was reelected in
1952 and became chairman of the Senate s Committee on Government Operations, where he
occupied the spotlight for two years with his anti communist investigations and questioning of
suspected officials. McCarthy s charges led to testimony before the Senate Committee on Foreign
Relations, but he was unable to substantiate any of his claims against a single member of any

Darkness By Lord Byron Mood
In the year of 1816, many parts of the world were suffering from a mysterious black smog that
coated the sky and brought on severe climate change. It was during this dark year that Lord
Byron wrote his apocalyptic poem, Darkness (Lebovic 9). The poem is presented by a pained
narrator describing the end of the world. This poem is expressed in a depressing tone and full of
destructive imagery that successfully captures the dark nature of the poem. The entirety of the
poem trails a series of events that follow a darkness that consumes the world, and essentially leads
to the end of mankind. Through these events, Byron effectively depicts the theme of human

Iron Age Celts Research Paper
Iron Age Celts of the 1st Century
Homes:
Brythonic Celts is the name given to the Celts who occupied Britain during the Iron Age, and they
were a people fragmented and separated into several different tribes all across Britain. Each Tribe
had its own king that lead and governed them, as opposed to being one, single united body.
Tribes of Celts would often protect themselves in cases of battle against enemies in something
known as a Hill Fort, which was, of course, situated on top of a hill they were defensive settings,
as living at the top of the hill gave them the advantage in battle of seeing their enemies approach
and being able to prevent them as they climbed up the hill. However, it is suspected that these
were not permanent accommodations and may have been used as assembly points for tribes to
withstand a short siege, as they contained no sources of water. The sizes of these Hill Forts would

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
The purpose of Covey s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is to better mold a teen s mind
frame. Most teen s lives are crazy and have no order. These seven habits help teens get control over
their lives. The first part is the private victory, followed by the public victory, and finally the
renewal. If all of these habits are applied, they will help all teens to be more successful and get
more out of life. Habit 1 is all about being proactive, and taking charge of yourself. You can t keep
blaming everything else but yourself. You are in control of your attitude towards everything that
happens. In life s situations you have the choice of either being proactive or reactive. Being
reactive is allowing other people and things control you. Instead of reacting to small stuff that have
little or no control, proactive people focus on things they can control. They separate their
experiences from the circumstances. You are the force of positive actions, and changing actions
that aren t helpful is the best way to take responsibility of your life. In addition, Habit 2 is about
beginning with the end in mind. This is where you create your own personal mission statement.
Mission statements help you focus, clarify what is important, and are a guide for decision making.
It can be about yourself, family, or about organization. Your future is dependent on control,
guidance, and rules. A solid foundation of your own principles will help you be a leader.

Schizoid Personality Disorder In Catcher In The Rye
Schizoid Personality Disorder is often described as a long standing pattern of detachment from
social relationships. People with this disorder may be seen as a loner, and they may lack the
desire or skill to form close personal relationships, they also may exhibit emotional coldness and a
disinterest in sexual experiences. The Mayo Clinic describes this disorder as an uncommon
condition in which people avoid social activities and consistently shy away from interaction with
others. If you have schizoid personality disorder, you may not know how to form friendships, or
you may feel too anxious around other people to try, so you simply give up and turn inward. Until
the end of the novel, Holden shows the traits of someone suffering from Schizoid Personality
Disorder, such as not being sexually active, lying constantly, and escaping to a different and

Personality Disorder often aren t sexually active. Rashmi Nemade, Ph.D. Mark Dombeck, Ph.D

Acid and Acetic Acid and Buffers, which was used to determine the students knowledge of acidity
constants, and how to calculate such of mandelic acid and acetic acid from laboratory measured
pH levels of each solution. In this paper, background information on K SUB a /SUB , pH, mandelic
and acetic acidwill be given. Procedures for calculating K SUB a /SUB , acid concentration and
percent acidity of vinegar, along with percent error, will be given as well. Explanations for pH
changes will be present too. /p
p But before discussion on the experiment and the results can really start, the reader must first
understand some background information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As I mentioned earlier, there were 2 trials that we performed for each solution, and each trial had
a different concentration. We did this to see what the pH change would be like for changing
concentrations. For mandelic acid, as molarity increased, so did the K SUB a /SUB , but the pH
value went down. This shows that as the concentration increased, so did the strength of the acid,
which is shown in the K SUB a /SUB value increasing. The more acid there is, the stronger the
solution will be, as well as increasing the ability to dissociate. As the concentration increased, the
acidity value decreased. This means that the solution became more acidic the more acid preset,
the more acidic the solution is. But, despite the fact that the K SUB a /SUB increased, it was by
such a small amount that it is still considered a weak acid. The same changes could be found in the
trials that involved acetic acid. As the concentration of the solution increased, so did the K SUB a
/SUB , but the pH value went down. And the reasons as such are the same for acetic acid as they
were for mandelic acid. Despite the change in K SUB a /SUB value, acetic acid is still considered a
weak acid.

Cookmaid With Still Life Of Vegetables And Fruit
Fashion is a platform in which one can represent themselves. People are often characterized and
assessed based on what they wear and how they present their body to the world. This notion of
clothing not just being for function but also for expression dates back long before the modern
age. In the early seventeenth century, for example, an artists portrayal of apparel was used as a
symbol of wealth and status. The paintings Cookmaid with Still Life of Vegetables and Fruit
(Figure One), Probably Mary Lady Scudamore (Figure Two), and Dudley, the 3rd Baron North
(Figure Three) all depict people of different prosperity and backgrounds. The three subjects in the
paintings don distinctively different attire. In this essay, I will consider how... Show more content on

The subject of the portrait, Dudley North, is pictured wearing a knee length rich black garment
fully embroidered in silver thread, paired with an extravagant set of shoes. He also dons a white
collar and cufflinks made of lace, paralleling those depicted in the portrait of Lady Scudamore.
The color and materiality of the attire convey the elite status of Dudley. The subject of the
painting was a principle courtier of James I, a role that placed him in the heart of clothing. The
court members developed into models for the noble style of dress, with royalty spending
thousands of pounds annually for their wardrobe. In the modern world, fashion is predominately a
female dominated industry. However, in the early seventeenth century, the dress of men was of
greater importance than that of woman, as aristocratic woman often lived privatized lives whereas
men were more exposed to society. The fit of the male outfit also held a high significance, just as it
did for the female. In the portrait, Dudley s waist is highlighted through the tight tailoring of the
costume, and is enhanced by the belt that clasps his sword. The male representation of fashion was
a symbol of aristocracy in seventeenth century England and was used in portraiture in order to
express one s wealth, as seen through the painting of Dudley

Casino Royale Essay
The film Casino Royale is an adaptation of Ian Fleming s 1953 Casino Royale novel. The film was
directed by Martin Campbell, produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli and written by
Neal Purvis Robert Wade and Paul Haggis. Casino Royale rebooted the whole Bond series and
established a new timeline now with Daniel Craig as the lead role of agent James Bond. This reboot
reintroduces Bond as a more aggressive, courageous and brings more of an unrefined edge to the
character. Craig s interpretation of Bond compared to previous actors is more aggressive and
ruthless. Sean Connery brought James Bond to life and created the espionage genre with his
interpretation, but Craig s interpretation made the character more lifelike by showing him... Show

Bond is shown as the hero with no fears and weaknesses through eyes of the audience, but this
interpretation of Bond show at there is a man with weakness just like any other person would
have. He goes through this development because of the people he put harm s way, but he soon
this learns this lesson in hard way. In the beginning of the film, Bond endured his first kill to
achieve his double 0 status and this fight scene was shown in black and white flash backs. The use
of this element in the beginning contributes to film by showing the protagonist reminiscing over
the first kills. Although, he keeps his composure which could be seen on his outside; the
promotion of his status cause him to show more of hasty tactics and behavior. In this scene the
camera was focuses on the gun and highlighting its significant presence throughout the
conversation. Throughout the film Bond is contrasted with the excessive killing he participates in
along the way. Bond is portrayed as a weak character to Le Chiffre in the torture scene. This is
done by positioning the camera on the left side of bond face (the weaker side) and on the right of
Le Chiffre. This element shows the bonds of disadvantage that would happen in an unbalance

George And Lennie Relationship Analysis
In the novella Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, the relationship between Lennie Small and
George Milton is complex. Lennie and George are two companions who look for work and brave
the hardships of the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression together. Although Lennie and George
are both grown men, their relationship resembles more of a child and a single parent, or a boy and
his dog. Lennie is portrayed as animalistic and childish through his behavior and Steinbeck s
comparisons. This reveals the crucial power dynamic in George and Lennie s relationship. In the
beginning of the novella, Lennie is portrayed as innocent and dependent on George. When Lennie
had a mouse and George asked for it, Steinbeck describes Lennie s reaction... Show more content on

Burns continues by saying that unpropitious events occur, even in the lives of the everyday man.
Burns implies that the mouse should consider himself lucky because it cannot think about the
past; it only focuses on the present and the future, while men dwell on the past. Lennie and the
mouse have similar characteristics; just like the mouse, Lennie cannot remember the past. In
the novella, George gets frustrated with Lennie for always forgetting things. When Lennie
could not remember why they had left Weed and why they were going somewhere new, George
says ...[s]o you forgot already (4). In Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men, Lennie is a metaphor for the
mouse, and George a metaphor for men. George can look back on the past, which is why he
carries the responsibility of Lennie. Lennie is again given animalistic character traits. Steinbeck
does this to create a dynamic in Lennie and George s relationship, that of a man and animal. In
which George is the responsible one who looks out for Lennie. The parallels between Lennie and
George s relationship and the relationship that their workmate, Candy had with his dog reaffirm
the power dynamic between George and Lennie. In the novella, Candy must kill his dog because it
is old and weak. Candy felt such extreme regret when it came time to kill his dog, that instead of

Corporate Culture Of Healthsouth Corporation
Background
HealthSouth Corporation was one of the largest publicly traded owners of rehabilitative hospitals
within the Untied States and paved the way for its industry. However, prior to 2003 the company
had a very dark secret: fraud. In 2003 HealthSouth was accused of making $2.7 billion in false
journal entries in the company s system (Helios, 2013). These false entries allowed the corporation
to inflate its earnings and revenue. While the corporation was dabbling in a fraudulent, aggressive
account system, auditors were unable to detect the extent of the fraud occurring. If not for Michael
Vines and Weston Smith, HealthSouth Corporation might have continued its false entries and
continued deceiving shareholders and even Wall Street itself. HealthSouth serves as a historical
example of how corporate culture can use fraud and deception schemes to not only rationalize what
it is doing, which is an element of the fraud triangle, but also encourage fraudulent financial
statements.
Corporate Culture The corporate culture of HealthSouth Corporation was one of pressure and
blackmailing. The corporate culture of a corporation determines how management, employees, and
customers interact within the work environment and corporate market. According to the case,
HealthSouth Corporation pressured company employees to meet the futile expectations of
corporate Wall Street. As well as pressure from corporate executives of the company, the employees
learned by example from the unethical,

Abortion Is The Most Controversial Right
Introduction
Unintended pregnancies and induced abortions are common and occur among women of all social
and economic groups. Where the abortion rate is high, it likely reflects that levels of contraceptive
use are not sufficient to meet the fertility desires and family planning needs of women and couples.
History/background of the issue: Since 1996, abortion rates declined by at least 2% per year in 12
of the 28 countries with complete abortion counts and trend data, and rates increased by this much
in two countries. Abortion rates were relatively stable in the remaining countries.

Abortions, the practice of removing a fertilized egg from a mother has become a controversial
issue in American society, but should be generally supported because there are circumstances
where the mother to be is unable to sustain a pregnancy safely. Young low income women and or
girls who become mothers have grim prospects for the future and in the case of rape or incest,
forcing a woman made pregnant by this violent act would cause further psychological harm to the
victim. In, The Cost of Choice , the National Abortion Federation (NAF) and Planned Parenthood,
among other pro abortion advocacy groups and organizations, have formulated and published
standards and guidelines for affiliated clinics and physicians. In fact, Planned Parenthood clinics,
with few exceptions, must adhere to the operational. (Amy, E. R. (2011. Abortion will deprive you

the historic mantras of the abortion industry goes until you realize what their solution are If a
child isn t wanted, then it shouldn t be born. One of the problems today is if a child is already
conceived, the only way to keep said child from being born is to kill it. By arguing about this is
not better for the child to be dead than for the child to be unwanted. Obviously, many more

Taxation Vs. Flat Tax In The United States
In our country, some of the most opinion filled conversations to be had involve taxation. Taxation
refers to compulsory or coercive money collection by a levying authority, usually a government.
Funds received through tax collection are used in many different ways; a large portion of taxes
collected fund our military, are applied towards the United Statesnational debt, federal relief
organizations, and to law enforcement and other government agencies. Although every working
American is required to pay taxes based on their income, deductions, and withholding allowances,
the way in which those wages are taxed has often been questioned. Here, we use a progressive tax
rate structure. This method of taxing income increases as the tax base, or... Show more content on

Having a flat rate can simplify the filing of taxes and calculations, decrease and possibly
eliminate the need for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and provide one tax rate to all
working citizens. Currently, filing taxes is a daunting task that generally requires a professional
in order to complete the process adequately. Many forms, extra time and in most cases, fees, are
the basics needed to file taxes. The filing process is so simplified with flat tax, that not only
would the numerous forms be null and void, so will some of the professionals associated with
the field. For taxpayers, this is wonderful because it streamlines tax related activity, making it
easier to handle on their own. The elimination of forms, professionals, and complexity may also
create the decreased need for the IRS. Unfortunately, no one really cares for the IRS, so
eliminating interaction with the agency is always a welcome thought for taxpayers and may
alleviate stress associated with the dreaded tax season . Perhaps the most attractive attribute of a
proportional rate is the use of the same tax rate for all taxpayers. A flat tax will not change or
fluctuate regardless of how little or how much money is made. This, to many, is the only fair way
to treat workers and gives a level playing field for taxpayers to be able to use the majority of their
wages for

Penn State Scandal From A Human Behavior Perspective
Elisa Ruth Nelson
Southern New Hampshire University
Introduction
November 5, 2011, Pennsylvania grand jury indicted former Penn State assistant coach Gerald
Sandusky, accusing him of sexually assaulting young boys. On June 22, 2012, Sandusky was
found guilty of 45 of 48 child sex abuse charges. Nearly four months later, (October 9, 2012)
Sandusky received a 30 60 year sentence. This scandal eventually forced further investigations into
whether or not Penn State officials neglected to act when individuals reported Sandusky s
inappropriate behavior with young boys. It also tainted a highly revered university and led to the

It s considered blasphemy to speak ill of Joe Pa in many local circles. He was untouchable in
every sense of the word, and he obviously knew it (Hanford, 2012). However, after the release of
the Freeh report and events following, Paterno s character became tarnished. Most new articles,
blogs and opinions written imply that Paterno put himself and the football program ahead of the
welfare of children lives. For example, in an article published July 14, 2012 it was reported that
when Joe Paterno learned that prosecutors were investigating Sandusky (January 2011), he began
to negotiate to amend his contract with his superiors. His contract was not set to expire until the
end of 2011 (Rohan, 2012). Since Paterno s death, his family, lawyers and publicists are actively
and aggressively protecting his legacy, by filing lawsuits. They do not believe Freeh s conclusions
that Paterno and other top university officials protected Sandusky to avoid the consequences of bad
publicity for the university, its football program and the coach s reputation.
Another illustration of Paterno s power is when he convinced Athletic Director Tim Curley not to
report Sandusky to child welfare authorities and handle the matter internally after Wide Receivers
Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Mike McQueary witnessed an incident in 2001 (Nadkarni, 2012).
How could that be when Curley is Paterno s boss? Maybe because Paterno collected a bigger
paycheck than Curley? Paterno s power

Examples Of Feud In Huckleberry Finn
Feud I have to admit I am a peaceful person. I do not like quarrels or bad feelings. Life is just too
short to waste myself on issues like feud. Feud is all around the world. Feud is an argument that
has been going around for so long between two people or groups (Dictionary,Kate Woodford page
1). Feud can happen in many ways, it can start by just a simple thing, and it can turn to a bad,
dangerous event. A example of feud is on the book Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, it really
helps us understand what feud is. A lot of feuds used to happen in US too. Countries deal with
fued as well, no matter how hard they try to ignore it, it will still happen. In the book
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, they give us an example of what feud is, and it really creates a
idea in our minds about feud, and how dangerous it is. It all starts by Huck going into this new

been killed, including a fourteen year old Grangerford .In the next day we find out that Sophia
Grangerford has ran away with Harney Shepherdson .(Mark Twain, Huckleberry Finn,1884,chap

Buck and a nineteen year old Grangerford in a gunfight with the Shepherdsons. Both of

people should try to stop them. Feud was a big deal in US, and it used to happen so often between

The Color Green In The Great Gatsby Analysis
What does the color green make you think of? Do you think of beautiful forests home to unique
animals and intricate ecosystems? Do you think of fresh ripe kiwi in the summer? Do you think
of broccoli ,which takes the cake as the most hated vegetable by children under 8? A lot of times
people see colors very basically and don t think about the connotation or symbolism behind them
Fitzgerald is the contrary. He uses colors throughout the novel as a way to express his ideas in a
more interpretive way that cause the reader to really analyze the novel, The Great Gatsby.
Fitzgerald converges Gatsby s primary motivations with the use of the color green, a symbol
that represents both wealth, money, the chase of the American dream and ,on the flip side, a
renewal and revival of his and Daisy s relationship. Fitzgerald shows green in its many lights,
from the physical representation of wealthy, to wealths grasp on an individual who idolizes it, to
its freshness in relation to a new frontier to the American dream. We see the color green as a
symbol of dishonesty in multiple lights, in multiple characters, the way that the color green was
intertwined with their lies is a depiction of the way the system of wealth and class affects the
characters. One way we see dishonesty, and the idea of wealth intertwined is after the scene where
Myrtle gets hit by the yellow car, the readers and other characters know the car is yellow. In a
police interview Michaelis is questioned about the

Pros And Cons Of Congressional Term Limits
Term limits are a powerful political force and a vital political reform. The movement to limit
political terms and thus political power has been steamrolling through American politics for years.
Many American citizens have approved term limits for Congressmen, moreover many states and
hundreds of cities and counties across the United States have adopted term limits for state and local
officials. Such widespread support of the phenomena shows that the public is not satisfied with the
prevalent careerism and thinks that amendments to the federal legislature would be beneficial for
the Congress and the country as a whole. The below paper will present objective political
arguments for and against the Congressional term limits. Firstly, the arguments for the term limits
will be presented, the arguments against them will proceed, followed by the conclusion drawn by
the author based on the conducted research. There are several arguments that speak for
Congressional term limits. To begin with, term limits were contained in America s first governing
document, the Articles of Confederation. Back then in the eighteenth century this tool was chosen
by the founding fathers to avoid long term political careerism and the abuse of the power
legislators hold. Following this statement it becomes clear that term limits are needed at all levels
of government, however it is especially vital to apply them to Congress for numerous reasons,
some of them being large electoral advantages exercised by

Addition Of Bromine To Alkene
In this experiment, the addition of Bromine to an alkene was done. In doing so the solution
undergoes a halogen addition reaction, which is a simple reaction where a halogen molecule is
added to a double bonded carbon0carbon alkene functional group. In this experiment cholesterol
(the alkene used) is dissolved in 2 mL of methyl tert butyl ether and Bromine (halogen) is added
to the solution to create a reaction. To proceed in the reaction Bromine, reddish brown, solution
is added into a solution of the cholesterol and MTBE solution. After that is done, the solution is
mixed by swirling the flask around until getting a persistent light yellow colored solution, if not
retrieved more Bromine should be added. This solution is then cooled to form crystals, while
the solution cools a wash solution was made to wash the solution of cholesterol bromine when
being filtered. This wash is made of 1.4 mL HOAc (glacial acetic acid), and 2 mL of methyl tert
butyl ether. When the solution is cooled it is to be filtered by vacuuming, when pouring the
solution into the funnel, the reaction vial was washed with the wash solution that was made. This
is done to make sure you are recovering all of the crystals in your solution. When the vacuuming
is all set the crystals were left out to dry for a week and the mass and melting point were retrieved.
This type of reaction that happened is a halogenation and an electrophilic addition reaction, which is
a halogen addition reaction. In this case,

How Did Fidel Castro Rise To Power
Fidel was born on August 13th, 1926 in Cuba s Oriente province. His father owned a sugar
plantation, and originally lived in spain. Castro was the third of six children, and his mother was
formerly a maid to his father, and Castro was conceived while his father was still wed to his first
wife. Eventually Angel, his father, learned of his paternity to Fidel, and formally recognized
him as his son when Fidel was 17. He grew up in a wealthy environment, attending well off
boarding schools. In school, he was something of a troublemaker, more interested in sports and
other activities than he was in his education. He did however display intellectual prowess, and he
attended El Colegio de Belen, where he was a pitcher for their baseball team. He graduated in

who adulterated the sacred right that all men and women should possess. In taking away his people

the Cuban government. With his death, perhaps this will one day be remedied, but that is yet to be

  • 2. Essay On The Nomination Process Nonetheless, the difference in party alignment has clear implications for the nomination process. During the nomination process, you are facing other members of your party to fight for the single nomination for the general election. This means you have to fight over voters with quite similar ideologies. This would exclude the extreme number of people from the other party, and perhaps many people who are in the middle and cannot decide which way to lean yet. Due to this, candidates must strategize their rhetoric and conduct to appeal to the most extreme members of the party. Studies have shown that the people who vote in primary electionsare in general more highly educated, and indicate more party activism/pride (Lecture Notes). For as long as this process has seemed to get the job done, people this election cycle have been curious if certain changes could be made to the nomination process that would allow for more suitable candidates in the future, especially considering the displeasure of this current elections ... The most important thing we can do as a nation is to be aware of what is happening, and why it is happening, because a true democracy is an informed democracy. Fighting for our values and beliefs is all we can really do, and we need to make sure we are expressing our opinions in a respectful and constructive manner because this is the only way people will actually take the time to listen to what you have to say. Is our system perfect? Perhaps not, but this is the system we have been given and it is our prerogative to take advantage of it. If something or someone is impeding our ability to speak our minds or is challenging our freedom, it is the people s responsibility to gather together to fight for positive reform, in order to make our democracy as flawless and efficient as ... • 3. The Indus Valley Civilization The Indus valley civilizations was an intriguing and sophisticated ancient culture and also a major contributor in the development of what later came to be known as Hinduism . The civilization was founded accidentally in the 19th century when the British engineers were searching for ballast for a railway line in north western India (which is now modern day Pakistan) and found the remains of what seemed to be an ancient city which was only known only to locals until then. In the early 20th century, when other similar sites were uncovered, archaeologists realized the significance of the discovery, which turned out to be one of the most prospering civilizations of the ancient world. It is called The Indus Valley Civilizationbecause most of its settlements are situated along the banks of the Indus River .The largest and most important of this civilization were its two prospering cities known as Mohenjo Daro and Harappa. These names are of post Indus origin as they were given with reference to the towns built much later on the ruins of these ancient cities. During their prosperous period,, Mohenjo Daro and Harappa had a population of around 40 50 thousand, which was a lot by ancient standards. Both of these cities were highly organized and strategically planned, and displayed remarkably similar features during their excavation. Given the structure of the cities, archaeologists suggest that there may have been a central authority for code enforcement and the Harappan ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Society can be seen as a malevolent force, bringing about the dehumanisation of the individual To what extent is this idea shown in The Handmaid s Tale and We by comparing the writers presentation of the pressures society brings to bear on the individual. A rat in a maze is free to go anywhere, as long as it stays inside the maze. Though Offred s mind has been affected by the indoctrination, she still expresses her individualism throughout the novel. This is seen through small acts of rebellion like when she takes the butter to use as moisturizer and by manipulating language to retain what is left of her sense of humour. It s an event, a small defiance of rule, so small as to be undetectable, but such moments are the rewards [she] hold[s] out for [her]self, like the candy [she] hoarded, as a child, at the back of a drawer. Offred relies on these rewards because they symbolize an opportunity for individuality, whether it is sneaking a look at one of the guardians or touching herself during the night, she attempts to clutch at what arguably makes her human. Contrastingly, when given a substantial choice by the doctor, she remains indecisive and almost apathetic which leads to the diminishment of the readers sympathy. This would suggest that it isn t the society that is responsible for the dehumanisation of the individual, it is the individual themselves. The most substantial difference, however is the way in which both writers convey the importance of retaining individualism in society. Zamyatin uses the characters D 503 and I 330 in contrast to each other to display different schools of thought in the situation surrendering ones individualism for a collective dream and rebelling because (as ... • 6. The World s 10 Largest Firms And Their Sources Of Economies Name Tutor Institution Course Date 1. The world s 10 largest firms and their sources of economies of scale The two conventional financial clarifications for the development of firms have been economies of scale and economies of degree. Economies of scale emerge when a firm brings down its every unit generation expenses of a specific item by creating in more prominent amount. Division of work through specialization is one reason every unit expenses diminish as generation increments. Adam Smith depicted in the eighteenth century how a pin plant can expand its yield essentially if every specialist over and over performs a particular undertaking in the creation prepare as opposed to having every laborer freely make complete pins without any preparation (Ayyagari,2011). In current MNCs, economies of scale exist in view of division of work as well as by consolidating, and regularly supplanting, human work with automated generation. Interest in substantial scale creation gear and the most recent innovations is by and large exceptionally extravagant. Organizations that have substantial economies of scale have solid points of interest over their rivals in light of the fact that they have logistic or value preferences, and in this way pull in more clients and set their size preference considerably more. This was a drastic downfall in the price of gold in 2008 and this has directly affected investors in a number of ways. The investors suffered losses of large margin and in addition to this, many of the investors had paid from ten to fifty percent of the deposits of their shares and when a downfall occurred in the prices of gold, many of the investors lost almost whole amount of their capital. Beside this, the fall in the prices of gold was less as compared to other equities and commodities (Bohm, 2011, pg 34 39). The year 2008 changed the shape of competition among the gold investors and the main characteristic of this year was the failure of government in the banking industry. The entire economy was suffered in this year and in this year of deflation; the affect on gold was a decrease in price. Gold prices fall to $690, then came back to $800 but then once again fall down due to poor financial conditions. She embarrassed herself and nothing was solved with the meeting. Cushman stuck with her given circumstances so well by the point. She was defensive of her child, her husband lacked the attention and care to deal with the situation, she was drunk which caused her emotions to escalate, and she knew she had not been civil. Cushman allowed the audience to see the defeat of Annette. There were many more moments when Annette failed to reach her super objective, but the fate of the hamster, the destruction of Alan s cell phone, and her reaction to being called a phony all were major points in losing civility and represented her downfall into causing carnage. • 10. Definition Of Poverty There are a number of definitions of poverty. It is a multifaceted notion which includes social, economic, and political components. How we define poverty is critical to politics, policy and academic debates about the concept. It is bound up with explanations and has implications for solutions. (Lister, 2004 as cited in Class notes, 2017). The United Nations, first established in 1945 shortly after the second world war, was created to promote international co operation and maintain international order (UN, 2017). The global term for povertyis defined by using the Gross National Product (GNP) and Gross Domestic Product(GDP). Both defined by the World Bank, GNP uses market valuations to measure national income: GNP per capita (each person) gives an indication of the typical material living standards of a nation, whereas, GDP is a measure of the total market value of goods and services output and their economic activity. The United Nations set the bar at the minimum daily income of $1.25 (93 pence) per day (Class notes, 2017). If you are living on less than this you are classed as living in absolute poverty. How poverty is measured is a contested concept and has had researchers long trying to establish a fixed method of determining. The four main concepts are absolute poverty, relative poverty and deprivation, consensual poverty, and social exclusion (Class notes, 2017). The concept of absolute poverty was developed in the 19th century by Joseph Rowntree and was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Principles of Scientific Management and its Applications in Modern Day Organizations Introduction Managers have been continuously trying to figure out the best way to manage the workplace since the start of the industrial revolution. The goal is to maximize production output and minimize cost therefore getting maximized profit while still keeping workers happy and motivated. Different methods have been introduced and tested. But perhaps one of the most influential and popular ideas in management is scientific management or taylorism as people know it. Taylorism, along with fordism, which follows after, are considered to be the classical work organization. The reason behind this is because; these ideas correspond to the first ... For example, in a company that produces chair, the task in making the chair would be separated to, cutting the parts off wood, assembly of the parts, paint and finishing touches, but even this can still be separated into smaller components. This will result in reducing the skill required for a task The second principal is separate planning and doing. At the time, workers do all the planning and doing, in taylorism, the planning are taken from the workers and given to managers. This would make planning more optimal; standardizing every task. Before, workers would do his job with the way that he thinks is best, without or with only little help from the management. Now, the managers bear new duties, which are; first is developing a science in a man s work for each element, second is to select the workmen in a scientific way and the train and develop them, third is cooperating with the men to insure that all the work are being done according to the principles of science that was developed, and the fourth is the responsibility of the workers and the managers are now divided almost equally. • 12. Science Of Space Exploration And Identification Of The Moon Is there a single person who has not been over the moon? Who has not reached for the moon, mooned over someone, or promised the moon away? Every once in a blue moon, one might find a person who has seemingly hung the moon and stars. Yet we know far more about Earth s lunar companion than just the idioms associated with it. Humans have been observing the moonfor thousands of years. Scientists have been documenting, discovering, and debating this body for ages. Centuries of research have catalyzed discussion concerning the Moon s origin, innovative development of space exploration, and identification of the Moon s features. By addressing and analyzing scientist s data on these topics lunar formation theories, moon landing missions, and specific lunar features we may gain further understanding of the history and characteristics of Earths Moon. Five main theories exist to explain how Earth attained its moon. The first suggests that the Moon formed somewhere else in the solar system. Then Earth s gravitational pull disrupted the Moon s original orbit, capturing it and locking it in a new orbital path. While this theory does explain how the Moon came to revolve around the Earth, it does not give specific information about its actual formation. Senior writer for Space.com, Mike Wall (2014), points out a few flaws in this hypothesis, the most serious problem being the geochemical similarity of the Earth and Moon (Capture, para. 2). This essay will discuss if management should have the right to determine whether a union should operate within their workplace. It is necessary first to discuss the roles of unions and management in the workplace and discuss both points of view on the power distribution between unions and managementin the workplace. The rise of industrial age led to the rise of industrial factory systems. As the industries grew larger as well as the workplace, it required more employees. As the employees grew in the workplace, their relationship with the employer became less personal hence individuals lost power. (History of Labor Unions Summary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, the unitarist management views trade/Labor unions and government mandated Labor standards as unnecessary. If management is applying effective policies and has good communication with its employees then conflict will not be an issue, hence conflict is seen as a result of poor management. Management with this frame of reference tend to be against unions and government intervention hence will not want unions in their workplace. However, many manager and employees tend to see their workplace or firms in unitary term and are happy with their situations. So in order to avoid conflict management will provide a better working environment, decent wages and work flexibility. However, this perspective is market based because if the company with these frame of reference have goals that are not met, maximisation of profit, then they will tend to cut cost in order to meet this goal. This will lead to several cuts in the workplace such as bonuses, paid leaves and so on. The pluralist frame of reference in management is a complete opposite of unitarist view in terms of unions. • 16. A Dirty Little Secret Of Leadership Development Essay A dirty little secret of leadership development is there are few truly new and innovative ideas. Recently published books, tools, and concepts repackage ideas from decades or centuries ago to address the needs of twenty first century leaders and organizations. For example, Amazon lists Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin as the current best seller in business management and leadership. Willink and Babin s ideas are solid and their stories are both inspiring and compelling. Nonetheless their concepts are not new. Academicians, practitioners, and leaders have highlighted these same principles for decades: check the ego, prioritize and execute, and decisiveness amid uncertainty, to name a select few. This is not a criticism, rather a reality of the leadership industry. Accordingly my contributions to the field are not uniquely inventive. Rather I excel at packaging existing ideas in creative, simple, and applicable ways that address my clients needs and inspire impactful leadership. I recently shared a set of risktaking tools with a client that demonstrates this skill. The executive marketing team for a specific product group in a global foods company asked me to facilitate a strategic offsite, emphasizing leadership agility. While the use of medication works well, it should never be solely relied upon. Sometimes there are other solutions to try first before you head to the medicine cabinet. You ever hear the term you are what you eat ? Well, that statement couldn t be more true, what you put into your body will affect your performance and how you feel. Think of your body as a high performance sports vehicle; you wouldn t put low grade fuel or oil into your car. If you did, it wouldn t run very well and that will lead to expensive repairs later on down the road. Where is the logic in this? The same idea applies to your body, so start treating yourself like a high performance vehicle. May is National Mediterranean Diet Month, so use this time to incorporate this ancient way of eating into your daily diet. The Mediterranean diet is not a new fad, it has quite a bit of history behind it, and the best part is it s not an overly restrictive, fad diet. In fact, many people find this diet to be easy to follow and incorporate. It helps people connect with those far away, but in the process, disconnects themselves from others close with them. The constant usage of technology has people s eyes glued to a small screen; they often forget to communicate with those around them. The urge to be connected has become more of an addiction than a form of convenient communication; due to the amount of time people spend on technology. This causes a severe disconnection with others around them. People spend more time looking at the perfect lives of other celebrities, that they forget to enjoy what is around them. If people spend more time looking up from their screens, they could make more friendships or companionships with other people. Imagine all the possible conversations you missed because you were too busy talking to people through a screen, instead of those around you. People often use their means of technology as a way to distract them or avoid talking to others. Perhaps this is due to the social disconnect they have with others around them. If people spend less time on technology, more connections with people would form. You would have more time to do things you want to do, such as reading, exercise, or more. Instead of connecting with people through technology, we should make connections with people close to us the top priority. After years of being developed, technology specifically and computers have been used too much, that they cause a disconnection instead of a connection. Compare And Differences Of Fidel Castro And Augusto Pinochet Compare and contrast the manners in which two authoritarian leaders [Fidel Castro and Augusto Pinochet] established and maintained their rule during their respective reigns. Throughout the course of history, several authoritarian leaders have risen to power and maintained their acquired power through physical, violent means. Two authoritarian leaders that have transformed their acquired power into dictatorial rights are Fidel Castro of Cuba and Augusto Pinochet of Chile. Interestingly, Castro and Pinochet differed in their ideals about the ideal structure of governments. While Castro advocated for a socialist, Marxist, anti imperialist Cuba, Pinochet favored a anti Marxist, anti socialist, capitalist Chile. Despite their differing ideals, both shared several similarities in their efforts to establish and maintain their power. Both individuals rose to power in a similar manner: a sort of coup d Г©tat. Both individuals maintained power through positive and negative means. Castro and Pinochet introduced several economic reforms that mostly benefited the people of Cuba and Chile. While these economic reforms allowed for the financial freedom of many Cubans and Chileans, the dictatorial rulers politically repressed the residents of Cuba and Chile. Tribes of Celts would often protect themselves in cases of battle against enemies in something known as a Hill Fort, which was, of course, situated on top of a hill they were defensive settings, as living at the top of the hill gave them the advantage in battle of seeing their enemies approach and being able to prevent them as they climbed up the hill. However, it is suspected that these were not permanent accommodations and may have been used as assembly points for tribes to withstand a short siege, as they contained no sources of water. The sizes of these Hill Forts would vary; while some where only capable of containing one or two families, others were able to house many more. People with this disorder may be seen as a loner, and they may lack the desire or skill to form close personal relationships, they also may exhibit emotional coldness and a disinterest in sexual experiences. The Mayo Clinic describes this disorder as an uncommon condition in which people avoid social activities and consistently shy away from interaction with others. If you have schizoid personality disorder, you may not know how to form friendships, or you may feel too anxious around other people to try, so you simply give up and turn inward. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I mentioned earlier, there were 2 trials that we performed for each solution, and each trial had a different concentration. We did this to see what the pH change would be like for changing concentrations. For mandelic acid, as molarity increased, so did the K SUB a /SUB , but the pH value went down. This shows that as the concentration increased, so did the strength of the acid, which is shown in the K SUB a /SUB value increasing. The more acid there is, the stronger the solution will be, as well as increasing the ability to dissociate. As the concentration increased, the acidity value decreased. This means that the solution became more acidic the more acid preset, the more acidic the solution is. But, despite the fact that the K SUB a /SUB increased, it was by such a small amount that it is still considered a weak acid. The same changes could be found in the trials that involved acetic acid. As the concentration of the solution increased, so did the K SUB a /SUB , but the pH value went down. And the reasons as such are the same for acetic acid as they were for mandelic acid. Having a flat rate can simplify the filing of taxes and calculations, decrease and possibly eliminate the need for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and provide one tax rate to all working citizens. Currently, filing taxes is a daunting task that generally requires a professional in order to complete the process adequately. Many forms, extra time and in most cases, fees, are the basics needed to file taxes. The filing process is so simplified with flat tax, that not only would the numerous forms be null and void, so will some of the professionals associated with the field. For taxpayers, this is wonderful because it streamlines tax related activity, making it easier to handle on their own. The elimination of forms, professionals, and complexity may also create the decreased need for the IRS. Unfortunately, no one really cares for the IRS, so eliminating interaction with the agency is always a welcome thought for taxpayers and may alleviate stress associated with the dreaded tax season . Perhaps the most attractive attribute of a proportional rate is the use of the same tax rate for all taxpayers.
