Titanium Alloy Implants and Joint Replacements
The advancement in materials science has paralleled with human ability to make improvements in
the fields of engineering, manufacturing and medical fields. Specifically in the medical field, as
major joints or sometimes organs begin to fail, foreign materials must be introduced into the body
to perform the functions of the failing component. Not all materials can be used in the human body
however, therefore materials science is directly correlated to the success of implants. This report
discusses some of the challenges faced when selecting the most ideal material for an operation, and
investigates many of the material properties of common joint replacement/implant materials.
Understanding further the certain requirements of proper implant materials used in practice will
permit greater advancement in the field of medical implants and joint replacement once other
materials are created to better fit those requirements. There are three main areas which a certain
material must prove to be superior in a given application in order to be considered for use in
implants and joint replacements. First and most importantly, the material in question must be
compatible with the human body. Introduction of foreign materials into the human body causes a
reaction between the foreign material and human tissue, we consider the material compatible so
long as this reaction is not producing negative or harmful

Hamlet And The Movie Hamlet
The movie Hamlet has an identical script to the play, with the little stage direction present in the
play the director of the film had to interpret what he read and create the best scene possible from
his interpretations. The effects used in the film that stemmed from the director s interpretations of
the play are zoom ins, jump cuts, flashbacks and music. The four main effects used in the film
gave a stronger idea of what is to come in the play based on the big amount of guilt shown by
Claudius. During the film, the director uses zoom ins and jump cuts to illustrate the fear Claudius
feels when he is exposed by Hamlet. When actors come to the Danish castle to perform for the
royalty, Hamlet requests that sixteen lines be added to the play. These added words would tell
the exact way Claudius poisoned the King and for what reason. When the actors perform the
play and recites the sixteen lines, Hamlet joins the actor on stage and begins to yell while
looking directly into Claudius s eyes. As Hamlet is yelling towards Claudius in rage he exclaims,
You shall see anon how the murderer gets the love of Gonzago s wife. While yelling towards
Claudius, the camera switched between the two six times during the span of 3 seconds. This is to
allow the film audienceto recognize the negative and damning effects Hamlet s words are causing
towards Claudius. As Hamlet is looking into the eyes of Claudius, Hamlet yells the word murderer

Comparing Power In Viva La Vida And The Count Of Monte Cristo
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man s character, give him power,
states 16 the president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. One who obtains power holds the
ability to either harm or enrich the world. In addition, it s easy to overlook the joys of life in
which power blinds one of.Therefore, with power comes a choice, rather one decides to display
good or evil upon the mass of mankind. In Viva La Vida and The Count of Monte Cristo, the
writers use of symbolism and metaphors convey the idea that power causes one to act in evil and
cruel ways if not used responsibly. For illustration,in Viva La Vida and The Count of Monte Cristo,

Those who comes out victorious are feared by the common man, smirking as people bow down

Eric Foner Epilogue Summary
Eric Foner s epilogue discusses the effects of reconstruction during, as well as after it occured. He
highlights many different main points as he weaves his way through the piece. One of these points
is the issue of race that sprung up during reconstruction. The South felt that the black s place was in
the fields while the North gave them the right to vote and made them a free man. This is discussed
through different accounts between some white men and some black men. The black men tell of
the time when their ancestors worked in government and were as equal as everyone else. The
southern whites speak of the North doing a horrible thing by letting the whites let the African
Americans have suffrage. The northern whites stand by their decision to give the blacks suffrage....

One of those is the blacks moving out west. When they went west things changed for them. They
experienced freedoms that they have never experienced before. Some of these freedoms were more
physical such as the blacks owning farms and to be whatever they wanted. Another section of these
freedoms was the freedom of getting away from the still racist South. ERic Foner talks about the
racist south in his epilogue. Continuing on with racism still prevalent in the South, the forming of
white supremacy organizations is another thing that connects this reading and our class
discussions. The KKK became very prominent during reconstruction and denied blacks some of
their freedoms that were given to them after the civil war ended. Another thing that connects his
epilogue to what we talk about in class is the blacks coming into politics during reconstruction.
More blacks came into politics after the civil war ended, even though many southeners disagreed
with it. After the fall of reconstruction, white southeners had a role in changing the role of blacks in
politics by progressive legislation to change the racial matters in the

Art Therapy And The Creative Process
What is art therapy and does it really work? When one thinks of a therapist and an artist you think
of two vastly different people. With therapy being a scientific, analytical study and art a very free
and creative one, but when the two are combined they create a strong outlet for a lot of youth.
Physical and mental health are very serious matters and are both subjects that children may find
hard to talk about. Traditional therapy in some cases can have good outcomes, but for children it is
easier to visualize their feelings rather that verbally speaking upon them. Children are considered to
be visual learners and traditional therapy does not communicate the same way art therapycan. Many
studies have shown that introducing art therapy into classrooms and hospitals can improve a child
s physical and mental well being. One may still be wondering what is art therapy? to answer that
question, here is a definition Art therapy is the application of the visual arts and the creative
process within a therapeutic relationship, to support, maintain, and improve the psycho social,
physical, cognitive and spiritual health of individuals of all ages. (Malchiodi, C. (2013).). With all
this in mind it is hard to believe that many still do not look at this form of therapy to be taken
seriously.
To conduct therapy through art you must have an education behind it considering it is a profession
in mental health . Some think that art therapy can be done by any art

Ms.Meyer English III 18 April 2013 Compare and Contrast: Daisy and Myrtle The Great Gatsby
is a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This novel features Jay Gatsby, George Wilson, Nick
Carraway, Jordan Baker and Tom Buchanan along with many others to show the hopes, the
struggles and the romance the characters went through each and every day. Due to the mixing of
the two social classes: the rich and the poor, we learn about the causes and effects of what they
face. In the book, two major characters that greatly influenced this story were Daisy Buchanan and
Myrtle Wilson. Both of them had difficulties in the way they acted, felt, and where they belonged

is Gatsby s neighbor and tries helping to get Gatsby with Daisy especially because Gatsby kept
begging him to (Fitzgerald). One day Gatsby, Tom, Daisy, Nick and Jordan go out. Daisy
becoming upset and trying to escape runs over Myrtle Wilson (Fitzgerald). Daisy does not care
or have any sympathy towards her death she doesn t even confess but let s Gatsby take the
blame because he was in the car with her (Willhite). Myrtle Wilson is the second major character
in The Great Gatsby. She is about 30 years old and is faintly stout but she carried her surplus
flesh sensuously as some woman can (The Great Gatsby: Character). Myrtle is married to
George Wilson, also a mistress to Tom Buchanan. She is not happy with her marriage nor her
lifestyle. Myrtle is part of the lower class of society making her poor. With them being poor they
end up living in their car garage. George seemed like a gentleman and that is why Myrtle married
him, but turns out that he wasn t. Tom is part the upper class of society which attracts Myrtle to

Tickner And Sjoberg
Tickner and Sjoberg s presentation of feminist thought within International Relations scholarship
provides a compelling, if somewhat brief, introduction to the interdisciplinary nature of
contemporary political science. The two argue that the disciplinary primacy of rationalist, black box
approaches waned as international relations scholars began employing sociologyand interpretive
methods to their work (DKS, 180 181). From this diversion, feminist theories of international
relations were constructed. I found the authors discussion of this Third Debate to be particularly
interesting, as I knew little regarding the roles and development of reflectivist and critical theory
before reading this section (DKS, 180). As my interests lie heavily... Show more content on

First, feminist political movements began emerging in the early twentieth century at Seneca Falls
and Hull House. Why were these empowerment movements largely ineffectual within academic
circles? In summation, why did International Relations wait until the 1980s and 1990s to view the
world through a woman s eyes? Explanations which seem reasonable include the male dominated
nature of academia, alongside the prevalence of rationalist thought after the birth of the discipline.
Furthermore, the comparatively late formation of International Relations as a field of study may
have slowed its progress toward inclusivity and experience sharing. Secondly, if classical realists are
truly focused upon the structure of communities based upon the health of their relationships, how is
it possible that gender relations were not one of Thucydides main concerns? The most basic
relationship human beings take part in is the dynamic between man and woman. Why does the

An Introduction to the Golden Parachute
When we talk about executive compensation, one topic that never fails to come up is the Golden
Parachute. The Golden Parachute, as the name suggest is an executive safety net of sorts that is
included in the employment contracts of senior level executives. Basically it is a special payment
usually a lump sum amounting to millions, that is paid in the event of a change in control of the
company1. The reasons for the implementation of the Golden Parachute is something that has been
constantly debated, but the most common ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Alignment of Management Shareholder Interest
As mentioned at the beginning of this paper, one of the main objectives of the Golden Parachute is
to control the behaviour of management in a acquisition event. During a acquisition event, the
bidding company or the acquirer would often bypass the executives and the management and go
straight to the shareholders, offering a premium over the current trading share price, which can be
seen as a increase to shareholder wealth5. However, often times once the acquiring company gains
control, the acquired company s management is usually either sidelined or dismissed from the
company. That being the case, there inherently exist a conflict between the interest of the
management (to preserve their source of income) and the interest of shareholders (to maximise
wealth).
Management as has been well established in the corporate world has the duty to act in a way that is
in the interest of the shareholders, and often this involves making decisions that maximise
shareholder wealth. However, in light of the prospect of losing their jobs after a acquisition,
management might not act in the best interest of the shareholders and oppose the acquisition in
order to maintain

An Inside Look at Animal Experimentation Essay
Does everyone remember their very first animal? Remember the puppy s sweet and perfect eyes,
the kitten s soft and comforting meow , or perhaps even a hamster and their playful and enthusiastic
personality? These loving, innocent, precious animals are used daily on animal experimentation.
With each and every chemical related product produced, experimentation is required before being
released into stores; unfortunately, these tests are typically performed on blameless animals.
However, just because testing of a particular product on an animal results positive, does that
undoubtedly mean the results will be equivalent for humans? For instance, cigarette smoking was
once considered safe because types of cancer associated with smoking are... Show more content on

Why, because almost every American citizen is naive enough to believe that each product has
testing done (typically performed on animals) before being sold on the market, ordinarily for safety
purposes. However, what the general public fails to comprehend is that although specific types of
animals are nearly identical to human beings, there is always a cautious chance that the testing has
positive results on animals but conversely, the outcome may be significantly different for humans.
Recently, researchers warned that patients and physicians should remain cautious about
extrapolating the finding of prominent animal research to the care of human disease ... poor
replication of even high quality animal studies should be expected by those who conduct clinical
research (Animal Experiments: Overview). Diseases that are artificially forced upon animals in a
laboratory are under no circumstances identical to those that transpire naturally in human beings.
For example, cigarettes were formerly indicated as safe because it did no harm to animals whereas
cigarettes are typically known in today s generation to cause illnesses such as lung cancer. More
importantly, several researches to cure cancer and its questionable motives have been successfully
completed on mice although the solution has had no effect on the human body. Also, more than
eighty five HIV/AIDS vaccines have been prosperous in nonhuman archbishop studies, but as of

Somalia in the Age of War on Terror: An Analysis of Violent Events and U.S. Covert Operations
The Zambakari Advisory
Phoenix, AZ 85005
Introduction
Somalia is a small country in the eastern part of Africa, known as The Horn of Africa . According
to the CIA World Factbook (2016), Somalia has a population of roughly 10.4 million, and 85
percent of people are Somali. Additionally, a significant part of the population is Muslim, (CIA
World Factbook, 2016), whom have contributed to the current conflict. In this report, we analyze
the recent violent conflict and U.S. intervention in Somalia.
The disorder in Somalia that has built up for many years has contributed to the growth of a
terrorist group bent on global jihad, al Shabaab (Ibrahim, 2010). Al Shabaab is an Islamist group
that has been involved in conflict with the Somalian government, and is considered one of the
major threats to Somalia s prospects for peace (Mueller, 2016).
The United States became involved with military strikes in Somalia during 2009, to combat al
Shabaab (Rotte, 2016). However, numerous civilians have lost their lives in the process.
Complicating the situation, it is not always clear whether or not al Shabaab poses an imminent
threat. Prior to 2009, the United States also set up the Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and
Counter terrorism, where they allied with Somali warlords to fight al Qaeda (Ibrahim, 2010). Since
the United States allied itself the Somalian government, drone attacks that

The Impact Of Television Commercials In Advertising
Our modern era, has made it possible for everyone to have access of technology at home. As
individuals watch daily television, the number of television ads they view daily is significant.
However, how do these television commercials shape or affect the gendered roles and norms
expected from women? In this paper, we will be analyzing the serious effects and expectations
individuals can acquire from commercial ads.
Television ads primarily focus on trying to promote an event or sell an item. It was found that
the commercial ads within an hour span from 2009 to 2013 has slightly increased from 13
minutes and 25 seconds to 14 minutes and 15 seconds (Flint 2014). Meaning that in just one hour
we view on average just 29 television commercials. Despite them being small 30 second
commercials, they still can make a big impact on individual s unconscious mind. Today in most
advertisements, we see food, beer, or beauty supplies. A strong portion of these commercial
advertisements either use women to sell their products or are directed towards women. These ads
tend to scrutinize women sexually by objectifying their bodies, persuading them to subject to a
beauty standard, and by reinforcing their oppressive gender roles.
Take for example beauty supplies commercials such as that of Clean and Clear. Clean and Clear
continuously creates new face washes and cleansers they want to sell, and as they advertise these
products, they constantly use thin, beautiful women with clear

Introduction
Stroke is a world wide common disease with its occurrence depending on multiple risk factors

from many clinical trials conducted for the purpose of understanding the adverse effects of statins,

Harold And Maude Psychology Essay
Focusing on a twenty year old obsessed with death and suicide who falls in love with an
eccentric almost eighty year old woman, Harold and Maude is a somewhat unconventional
romantic comedy widely regarded as a cult classic. This movie s use of suicide and other
sensationalized ideas from Psychology is jarring to say the least, but its Psychological principles
are not limited to those. There are many everyday aspects of Psychology immortalized through this
filmthat would hardly make one bat an eye. In the movie, twenty year old Harold lives, mostly,
with his mother. During the time he is not living with his mother, he is faking suicide for her
attention, bringing home a hearse as his first car, or attending funerals, presumably for fun. Harold s
quirks seem to at least somewhat... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is easygoing in her old age, and nothing seems to truly get to her. She lives her life freely,
borrowing cars and experiencing everything that life has to offer. Maude sees every day as an
adventure, and is just there to enjoy the ride. This type of personality itself has a specific name in
psychology, and it is known as a Type B personality.
Type B personalities are known for being easygoing and relaxed, as well as less prone to stress in
uncomfortable situations (Myers 402). This leads to them being less angry overall, as well as
generally optimistic. This, as well, leads to less frustration, and less aggression (Myers 403). This
is extremely noticeable in the case of Maude.
Maude lives extremely freely, and so the Type B label works extremely well with her. Her living
in her own, calmly determined way allows her to live a relatively stress free existence. This
allows her to experience many different things in her life and still smile brightly and attempt to
help Harold see things her way as well. By the end of the movie, Harold seems to have adopted a
perspective that allows him to be classified as this personality type as

Watergate Scandal Essay
On June 18, 1972, the Washington Post published an article under the title 5 Held in Plot to Bug
Democrats Office Here . The author, Alfred E. Lewis, claimed that five men, one being an ex CIA
agent, three being native born Cubans, and the last being said to have trained Cuban exiles for
guerilla warfare, were caught planting bugs in the offices of the National Democratic Committee.
This article sparked an important breakthrough in American journalism. Catching the attention of
Post writers Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, they began to pursue the story. The works later
published by Bernstein and Woodward unmasked the man behind the bugging plot, Richard Nixon,

men, an amount that would be hard to raise. Nixon replied, you could get a million dollars. You
could get it in cash. I know where it could be gotten. It is not easy, but it could be done. The
president s own words proved that he was involved with the break in and that he used hush money
to keep witnesses silent. Another tape recording, called the smoking gun , uncovered Nixon s
exploitation of the CSI. In the tape, Nixon plans to have Richard Helms, the Director of the CIA,

and demand that he stop the Watergate investigation. This crime was more severe than the hush
money crime, and it was the prime reason Nixon was charged with obstruction of justice.
Nixon was secondly charged with Abuse of Power (Article II), essentially because of his misuse of

What Is The Theme Of Lady Lazarus
Opening Sentences... Widely considered her most celebrated book of poems, the posthumous Ariel
exposes Plath s twisted physiological torment. Perhaps its most well known work, Lady Lazarus
unambiguously examines suicide and death. It cloaks its reader in the solitude that weighs so
heavily on its author. In this poem, Plath alludes to Lazarus, a man who Jesus resurrects from the
dead. Plath is in fact the female foil to this biblical figure, and through the chaos and loneliness her
husband, father, and friends cultivate, they ultimately drive her to suicide. However, despite her
attempts, the poet unfailingly rises from her deathbed to confront an increasingly harsher world.
Similar to Plath, singer songwriter Joni Mitchellintroduces themes... Show more content on

Chronic Bronchitis Is A Medical Condition That Enhances...
Chronic bronchitis is a medical condition that enhances the swelling and mucus (phlegm or
sputum) production in the breathing tubes (airways). Airway obstruction takes a place in
chronic bronchitis, as the swelling and extra mucus cause the inside of the breathing tubes to be
narrower than normal. This illness is the fourth leading cause of death and WHO predicted that
COPD will be the third leading cause of death by 2030. Spirometry is the most recommended
diagnostic test to assess as to whether a patient has a COPD or not by Glob initiative in
Obstructive Lung disease (GOLD). This test is specifically designed to identify abnormalities in
lung volumes and air flow. Spirometry is utilized along with physical assessment, medical history

The Black Legend was made to hurt the reputation of Spain. Spain was known as to have killed
indigenous people, infect them with disease, or steal gold and silver from them. Due to this, some
people, including Bartolome de las Casas, condemned the mistreatment of Indians, resulting him in

What are these three institutions?
Spain had three institutions for the northern frontier: the religious mission, the presidio or military
installation, and the pueblo or civil town. In Texas, missionaries had a greater success than in New
Mexico to draw in nomadic Indians to settlements. Missions plus settlements grew near military
presidios and the new cities

The Development of Gross negligence manslaughter
For many years the courts have used the terms recklessness and gross negligence to describe the
fault required for involuntary manslaughter, other than constructive manslaughter, without any clear
definition of either term. It was not clear whether these terms were merely two ways of describing
the same thing, or whether they represented two distinct conditions of fault.
All previous cases must now be read in the light of Prentice, Adomako and Holloway in the

the House of Lords decided in Seymour that the law governing involuntary manslaughter, other

than just feeling blue or down in the dumps for a few days. It s a serious illness that involves the

The antidepressants actually affect the mother as well as the child. Given that the benefits of
antidepressants overall, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors including paroxetine specifically,
during pregnancy is questionable at best, any increase in risk small or large is too high, said Dr.
BГ©rard. (Daigle par. 3) Researches have actually found that everything the mother takes passes
through the placenta, giving more risks to the medicine affecting the child in the womb. The
placenta is a flattened circular organ in the uterus of pregnant women that nourishes and
maintaining the fetus through the umbilical cord. That s why a mother will need to watch their

This was the first year that I had tried out for District Orchestra. The piece was Concerto No. 23 in

Instead, my friend instructed me that playing down at the frog gives you the most control over
your bow s movements. Once I applied this to my music, things started to come together. On
audition day, I was extremely nervous. The fact that I had no idea what to expect also made my
nerves frayed as well. I walked into the scales room and at first I forgot what I was supposed to play
. But then for a moment, I closed my eyes and pretended that I was back at home in my room,
just myself and my violin. I opened my eyes and realized I wasn t all that nervous. I played the
scales and then proceeded on to the other rooms. I performed the best that I ever had. Of course
out of 123 violins they took only the top percent. I was not in that top percent, but that s okay
because for me it was more of a learning experience. That day is when I learned how to calm
myself down in a stressful situation. I did that by remember why I was there. I wasn t there to be
number one, I was there because I love music.
This was my second year for county orchestra, and I was competitive. I had not made it in last
year, and I really enjoyed the piece that we were playing this year. I determined that I was just as
good as anyone else auditioning. This of course does not mean that I didn t have any issues
learning to play it. Introduction and Polonaise by Carl Bohm had its own set of trials that I had to
learn to overcome. Introduction and Polonaise taught me the importance of bow markings. I

Analysis Of Edward Snowden s Information Leaks
In a society centered on an ever growing technological bloom, the standards for security have been
placed very high to protect citizens from cyber attacks and wrong doing. However, some of the
steps that have been taken pushed the limits to what is lawful. Very little reforms have been made
even with recent public awareness to the problem. The steps taken make the US government
surveillance programs contradict with the constitutional rights of the American people. This essay
will address the National Security Agency and its policies, Edward Snowden s information leaks,
the views of the opposition, and solutions to this lingering problem along with contributions. The
primary American government sector in charge of sorting through the massive amounts of data that
pass through technological means is the National Security Agency (NSA). The NSA searches for
threats to the United States, whether that be foreign or domestic. Many US citizens did not know
how data was being sorted until a few whistle blowers, the most famous being former NSA analyst
Edward Snowden, began leaking classified information to the public. This revealed that the US
government was using a massive internet dragnet that filtered through everyone s information,
along with the tapping of phone calls and private messages, regardless of crimes being committed
or not. They could search through private messages, turn on unsuspecting users cameras while their
computer is idle, and listen through their phone

Freeman And Martin Shkreli
The primary sense of the term [business ethics] refers to recent developments and to the period,
since roughly the early 1070s, when the term came into common use in the United States (George,
Web). This means that business ethics has become a huge deal over the last recent years.
Additionally, Martin Shkreli acted unethically when he raises the price of a useful drug to certain
people who needed it to survive. One person that would argue that Shkreli was acting unethical is
R. Edward Freeman.
A website in the internet informs that Martin Shkreli was born to Albanian and Croatians
immigrates, and he grew up with two sisters and a brother. Moving one, the article states that

Edward Freeman would believe just the opposite. Freeman believes the opposite of Friedman.
Freeman argues the opposite by stating that the basic idea is that businesses, and the executives
who manage them, actually do and should create value for customers, suppliers, employees,
communities, and financiers [or shareholders] (Freeman, 39). This passage suggest that Freeman
believes in the stakeholder theory, and that a stakeholder can be anyone: an employee, a customer,
the community, etc. Freeman counter argument to Friedman is that Shkreli forgot the most
important rule in modern business, The customer is always right. Friedman theory might have
been ethical to use in the old days, but in recent years a business being ethical includes taking it
customers opinion into account. Friedman fail to realize that workers and employees play a
huge role in business making profit. Additionally, the web states that For decades, there wasn t
any competition to Daraprim for the simple reason that there wasn t much money to made
selling it (McLean, Web). This is yet another prove that Shkreli didn t had a reason to raise its
price. Because they have no competition, then they didn t have a reason to raise it price. He
acquired the U.S. rights to a lifesaving drug and promptly boosted its price over 5,000 percent
(Mclean, Web). All things consider, it is understandable that the drug cost money to make, but
raising the price to 5000% is outrageously high. For this reason, I believe that if he would have
just double the price, it would have been such a huge deal/unethical. Moving one, in Freedman s
eye Shkreli failed to take his customers into account, and what is worst he hasn t apologized to its
customers. Overall customers have become extremely important to a business, and if you failed to
put customers first the business will not be

Nightmare On Elm Street Movie Comparison Essay
Kaylin Brooks English 1010 October 6, 2017 Nightmare On Elm Street Remake VS. Original
Me being a total horror movie fanatic and with the remake craze taking the horror genre by
storm, we all compare the remake to the original while we re watching it. One of the most
classic horror films of all time, Nightmare on Elm Street, was originally made in 1984 and later
got remade in 2010 after a slew of sequels. When Nightmare on Elm Street got a remake,
everyone at that time had split decisions about the new movie. Me personally, I am not a big fan
of remakes, but since I am such a fan of scary movies, I went in with an open mind and actually
liked it a lot. I have seen this movie hundreds of time since the movie came out and my sentiments

They made Freddy look more human as opposed to the original, where the makeup was
cartoonish and devilish. In the original Freddy was completely red. Freddy is also known for
the red and green striped sweater and razor glove. The sweater is pretty much the same in both
films, but the glove in the remake is much more intricate, probably due to technology, in the
remake. Even the sounds on the gloves, when Freddy is rubbing his fingers together, are much
sharper an realistic. In the 1984 classic, Freddy was about psychologically attacking his victims.
He liked to play off of his victim s fears and when they went to sleep he would bring their fears
into their nightmares resulting to their demise. But in the remake, Freddy would attack his
victims physically and in their dreams, he would constantly remind them of how he died causing
them to develop insomnia. Also making them have psychotic breakdowns and killing themselves.
In both films, Freddy Kruger preyed on the children of the parents that killed him. The parents
decided to kill him because they believed he was molesting their children while he was working
as a gardener at their children school. The parent burned him alive. That storyline remained
constant in both movies. His favorite target in both movies was Nancy. There were some changes
to Nancy in the remake, they changed her last name from Thompson to Holbrook. In 1984 Nancy
was played by Heather Langenkamp and in 2010, Nancy was played by Rooney Mara.

Essay about The Philippines
The Philippines is bordered by the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
It has three major island groups which are the Luzon, the largest island and where the capital is
located; Visayan, and Mindanao. Eleven islands make up 94 percent of the Philippine landmass,
and two of these Luzon and Mindanao measure 105,000 and 95,000 square kilometers, respectively.
They, together with the cluster of the Visayan Islands that separate them, represent the three
principal regions of the archipelago (many scattered islands in a large body of water) that are
identified by the three stars on the Philippine flag.

up most of which is considered Alienable and Disposable. This includes the residential,
commercial and institutional areas as well as agricultural lands. Fish ponds are also found in this
area occupying an area of 9,333.14 hectares. Zoning and land use plans have been put into place to
regulate the development of communities ensuring that the distribution of land is properly
allocated so that it is not in incompatible use. Despite these measures, many farmers are very poor.

The Theory Of Social Construction
A paradigm is a set of beliefs or assumptions that create the reality for a group. The values, moras,
and habits, all of which are socially constructed, create the reality for the group. The theory of
social construction is a theory that knowledge is constructed by humans for human use. We
communicate using rhetoric, allowing others to see into those socially constructed ideas or
paradigms. Rhetoric is the ability to ascertain and analyze, in any given context, the available
means of persuasion. Persuasion is necessary to convince the audience of one s paradigms. The
play, Angels In America, by Tony Kushner, focuses on two relationships that interconnect
throughout the entire play. Kushner informs the reader of a typical dismal life of someone with
AIDS during the Reagan and Bush eras. During this desperate time, self interest overtakes
everything else, allowing the power dynamics to become even more clear and powerful. This
hierarchy is socially constructed, but sets the reality for the unfortunate, marginalized lives of most
of those contracted with AIDS. Through the writing technique, ASAAP, I will establish the act,
scene, agent, agency, and purpose for each example. This fully explains each act literally and
figuratively, so one is able to fully comprehend the meaning behind each act. Kushner displays the
battle between liberals and conservatives, not only politically, but also personally. It is simple to
see the power dynamics in Act III, Scene II when Roy scores

emphasizing the quality of clinical care and the association with patient outcomes.
Nurse participation was examined in regards to the relationship between nurse participator and the

Other areas that were examined were collaborative relationships with physicians, supportive
relationships with peers, staffing and decentralization, patient centered climate and busyness.

How The Geographical, Governmental, And Human Development...
Those considered poor in developing countries often lack the fundamental access to buy
adequate food, water, or other basic needs. Although recent World Bank data has revealed that
world poverty has declined 43 percent since 1990 and 52 percent since 1981, poverty is still a
worldwide phenomenon that is prevalent even among the most highly industrialized countries .
Presently, according to World Bank data, 1.22 billion people live on less than $1.25 a day in 2010
and 2.4 billion people live on less than US $2 a day in 2010. This is almost half of the world s
population. The scope of this study is limited somewhat because povertyis a multidimensional
concept in which a voluminous number of factors can be causally related to this phenomenon.
Therefore, this research will seek to answer what impact does the geographical, governmental, and
human development characteristics have on the rate of poverty in developing countries.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
The existence of poverty is as old as time itself, and still perplexes scholars of the world today. The
conceptualization of poverty is a multifaceted phenomenon in which varying factors contribute to
this worldwide problem. Thus, six arguments of poverty will warrant closer examination: including
culture, gender inequality, economic growth, geographical region, human development, and
government. First, scholars that link culture to poverty argue those countries that are inherently
poor must change their prevailing customs and

The Vampire Lestat and the Problem of Eternal Damnation Essay
The problem or question of what it means to be damned is difficult to understand at the best of
times, it is however all the more difficult when the subject in question is a vampire. How does a
vampire that has developed God like powers and whose only way to survive is to take human life,
redeem themselves in the eyes of God? This is not really an issue for Lestat; as for the majority of
the Vampire Chronicleshe believes himself to be a form of God. With every life that Lestat takes

By their very nature, a mortal sin cuts our relationship off from God and turns man away from his
creator. (Saintaquinas.com: 1)
If mortal sin is a grave matter, what does the bible constitute as being a grave matter? One idea to
look upon is breaking any one of the Ten Commandments, although some are not considered as
grave as others. St. Paul offers us a list of such offences, which if committed will not allow the
sinner to enter the Kingdom of God:
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and
witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissentions, factions and envy;
drunkenness, orgies and the like. I warn you as I did before, that those who live like this will not
inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians, 1995, 5:19 20: 824)
It would be fair to assume that almost everyone is guilty of at least one of the above sins at some
point in life; however, a being such as Lestat is on a different level of sin. Of course in between
these levels of sin there are sins, which are considered to be of a graver nature, it is obviously a
graver sin to murder than to be a drunk. From this it would be simpler to know that the latter
would be considered a venial sin and not within the same gravity of a mortal sin and therefore the
sinner can be saved. However bad a mortal sin is, according to the

The Struggle Of Democratic Peace
Although countries in South America are not democratic for most of the last century, it has the
fewest inter state wars there, which can be explained by geopolitics with balance of power, the
trade off between benefits and costs, and relations among countries in this area.
According to the theory of Democratic Peace, since democratic leaders have a larger wining
coalitions, in order to keep in office, they need to gain support from selectorate, and democratic
leaders facing with war are more inclined to shift extra resources into the war effort than are
autocrats . In addition to trying harder, democrats are more selective in their choice of targets and
democrats only initiate wars they expect to win. As a generalization, it is an empirical law that
democracies do not fight wars with one another . On the contrary, with a small winning coalition,
non democrats leaders are facing less risk of being deposed than are their democratic counterparts ,
therefore, they are not constrained by the selectorate and they are inclined to choose war when the
expected benefit is larger than the cost of conflict, or larger than the benefit from negotiation. This
may lead to the conclusion that non democrats are more likely to have conflicts with other countries.
However, when we look at South America, despite the differences between some of the continent s
countries, it has not experienced full scale interstate warfare in over 80 years . This is puzzling,
since the

  • 2. A Brief Note On Titanium Alloy Implants And Joint Replacement Erik Rasmussen 11 13 2016 ME 315 Titanium Alloy Implants and Joint Replacements The advancement in materials science has paralleled with human ability to make improvements in the fields of engineering, manufacturing and medical fields. Specifically in the medical field, as major joints or sometimes organs begin to fail, foreign materials must be introduced into the body to perform the functions of the failing component. Not all materials can be used in the human body however, therefore materials science is directly correlated to the success of implants. This report discusses some of the challenges faced when selecting the most ideal material for an operation, and investigates many of the material properties of common joint replacement/implant materials. Understanding further the certain requirements of proper implant materials used in practice will permit greater advancement in the field of medical implants and joint replacement once other materials are created to better fit those requirements. There are three main areas which a certain material must prove to be superior in a given application in order to be considered for use in implants and joint replacements. First and most importantly, the material in question must be compatible with the human body. Introduction of foreign materials into the human body causes a reaction between the foreign material and human tissue, we consider the material compatible so long as this reaction is not producing negative or harmful ... • 5. Hamlet And The Movie Hamlet The movie Hamlet has an identical script to the play, with the little stage direction present in the play the director of the film had to interpret what he read and create the best scene possible from his interpretations. The effects used in the film that stemmed from the director s interpretations of the play are zoom ins, jump cuts, flashbacks and music. The four main effects used in the film gave a stronger idea of what is to come in the play based on the big amount of guilt shown by Claudius. During the film, the director uses zoom ins and jump cuts to illustrate the fear Claudius feels when he is exposed by Hamlet. When actors come to the Danish castle to perform for the royalty, Hamlet requests that sixteen lines be added to the play. These added words would tell the exact way Claudius poisoned the King and for what reason. When the actors perform the play and recites the sixteen lines, Hamlet joins the actor on stage and begins to yell while looking directly into Claudius s eyes. As Hamlet is yelling towards Claudius in rage he exclaims, You shall see anon how the murderer gets the love of Gonzago s wife. While yelling towards Claudius, the camera switched between the two six times during the span of 3 seconds. This is to allow the film audienceto recognize the negative and damning effects Hamlet s words are causing towards Claudius. Those who comes out victorious are feared by the common man, smirking as people bow down to their every wish.Numerous world leaders take advantage of their power, considering themselves to be above the law; this belief leads to careless cruelty and evil pursuit.Similarly, in The Count of Monte Cristo, Dumas communicates I m sure the seed I ve sown hasn t fallen on the barren ground (266). • 7. Eric Foner Epilogue Summary Eric Foner s epilogue discusses the effects of reconstruction during, as well as after it occured. He highlights many different main points as he weaves his way through the piece. One of these points is the issue of race that sprung up during reconstruction. The South felt that the black s place was in the fields while the North gave them the right to vote and made them a free man. This is discussed through different accounts between some white men and some black men. The black men tell of the time when their ancestors worked in government and were as equal as everyone else. The southern whites speak of the North doing a horrible thing by letting the whites let the African Americans have suffrage. The northern whites stand by their decision to give the blacks suffrage.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of those is the blacks moving out west. When they went west things changed for them. They experienced freedoms that they have never experienced before. Some of these freedoms were more physical such as the blacks owning farms and to be whatever they wanted. Another section of these freedoms was the freedom of getting away from the still racist South. ERic Foner talks about the racist south in his epilogue. Continuing on with racism still prevalent in the South, the forming of white supremacy organizations is another thing that connects this reading and our class discussions. The KKK became very prominent during reconstruction and denied blacks some of their freedoms that were given to them after the civil war ended. Another thing that connects his epilogue to what we talk about in class is the blacks coming into politics during reconstruction. More blacks came into politics after the civil war ended, even though many southeners disagreed with it. After the fall of reconstruction, white southeners had a role in changing the role of blacks in politics by progressive legislation to change the racial matters in the ... • 8. Art Therapy And The Creative Process What is art therapy and does it really work? When one thinks of a therapist and an artist you think of two vastly different people. With therapy being a scientific, analytical study and art a very free and creative one, but when the two are combined they create a strong outlet for a lot of youth. Physical and mental health are very serious matters and are both subjects that children may find hard to talk about. Traditional therapy in some cases can have good outcomes, but for children it is easier to visualize their feelings rather that verbally speaking upon them. Children are considered to be visual learners and traditional therapy does not communicate the same way art therapycan. Many studies have shown that introducing art therapy into classrooms and hospitals can improve a child s physical and mental well being. One may still be wondering what is art therapy? to answer that question, here is a definition Art therapy is the application of the visual arts and the creative process within a therapeutic relationship, to support, maintain, and improve the psycho social, physical, cognitive and spiritual health of individuals of all ages. (Malchiodi, C. (2013).). With all this in mind it is hard to believe that many still do not look at this form of therapy to be taken seriously. To conduct therapy through art you must have an education behind it considering it is a profession in mental health . Some think that art therapy can be done by any art ... • 11. Tickner And Sjoberg Tickner and Sjoberg s presentation of feminist thought within International Relations scholarship provides a compelling, if somewhat brief, introduction to the interdisciplinary nature of contemporary political science. The two argue that the disciplinary primacy of rationalist, black box approaches waned as international relations scholars began employing sociologyand interpretive methods to their work (DKS, 180 181). From this diversion, feminist theories of international relations were constructed. Why were these empowerment movements largely ineffectual within academic circles? In summation, why did International Relations wait until the 1980s and 1990s to view the world through a woman s eyes? Explanations which seem reasonable include the male dominated nature of academia, alongside the prevalence of rationalist thought after the birth of the discipline. Furthermore, the comparatively late formation of International Relations as a field of study may have slowed its progress toward inclusivity and experience sharing. Secondly, if classical realists are truly focused upon the structure of communities based upon the health of their relationships, how is it possible that gender relations were not one of Thucydides main concerns? The Golden Parachute, as the name suggest is an executive safety net of sorts that is included in the employment contracts of senior level executives. That could occur if a company chooses to adopt the Golden Parachute Alignment of Management Shareholder Interest As mentioned at the beginning of this paper, one of the main objectives of the Golden Parachute is to control the behaviour of management in a acquisition event. During a acquisition event, the bidding company or the acquirer would often bypass the executives and the management and go straight to the shareholders, offering a premium over the current trading share price, which can be seen as a increase to shareholder wealth5. However, often times once the acquiring company gains control, the acquired company s management is usually either sidelined or dismissed from the company. That being the case, there inherently exist a conflict between the interest of the management (to preserve their source of income) and the interest of shareholders (to maximise wealth). Management as has been well established in the corporate world has the duty to act in a way that is in the interest of the shareholders, and often this involves making decisions that maximise shareholder wealth. However, in light of the prospect of losing their jobs after a acquisition, management might not act in the best interest of the shareholders and oppose the acquisition in order to maintain ... With each and every chemical related product produced, experimentation is required before being released into stores; unfortunately, these tests are typically performed on blameless animals. Due to this, some people, including Bartolome de las Casas, condemned the mistreatment of Indians, resulting him in proposing an alternate labor force. 7.) The primary American government sector in charge of sorting through the massive amounts of data that pass through technological means is the National Security Agency (NSA). The NSA searches for threats to the United States, whether that be foreign or domestic. Many US citizens did not know how data was being sorted until a few whistle blowers, the most famous being former NSA analyst Edward Snowden, began leaking classified information to the public. Freeman argues the opposite by stating that the basic idea is that businesses, and the executives who manage them, actually do and should create value for customers, suppliers, employees, communities, and financiers [or shareholders] (Freeman, 39). This passage suggest that Freeman believes in the stakeholder theory, and that a stakeholder can be anyone: an employee, a customer, the community, etc. Freeman counter argument to Friedman is that Shkreli forgot the most important rule in modern business, The customer is always right. Friedman theory might have been ethical to use in the old days, but in recent years a business being ethical includes taking it customers opinion into account. Friedman fail to realize that workers and employees play a huge role in business making profit. Additionally, the web states that For decades, there wasn t any competition to Daraprim for the simple reason that there wasn t much money to made selling it (McLean, Web). All things consider, it is understandable that the drug cost money to make, but raising the price to 5000% is outrageously high. We communicate using rhetoric, allowing others to see into those socially constructed ideas or paradigms. Rhetoric is the ability to ascertain and analyze, in any given context, the available means of persuasion. Persuasion is necessary to convince the audience of one s paradigms. • 53. The Vampire Lestat and the Problem of Eternal Damnation Essay The problem or question of what it means to be damned is difficult to understand at the best of times, it is however all the more difficult when the subject in question is a vampire. How does a vampire that has developed God like powers and whose only way to survive is to take human life, redeem themselves in the eyes of God? This is not really an issue for Lestat; as for the majority of the Vampire Chronicleshe believes himself to be a form of God. With every life that Lestat takes he is committing a mortal sin, the gravest form of sin and he does so with full knowledge and consent. With reference to Anne Rices Vampire Chronicles and both Interview with the Vampire and Queen of the Damned motion pictures, Lestat s journey from mortal to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By their very nature, a mortal sin cuts our relationship off from God and turns man away from his creator. (Saintaquinas.com: 1) If mortal sin is a grave matter, what does the bible constitute as being a grave matter? One idea to look upon is breaking any one of the Ten Commandments, although some are not considered as grave as others. St. Paul offers us a list of such offences, which if committed will not allow the sinner to enter the Kingdom of God: The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissentions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies and the like. I warn you as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians, 1995, 5:19 20: 824) It would be fair to assume that almost everyone is guilty of at least one of the above sins at some point in life; however, a being such as Lestat is on a different level of sin. Of course in between these levels of sin there are sins, which are considered to be of a graver nature, it is obviously a graver sin to murder than to be a drunk. From this it would be simpler to know that the latter would be considered a venial sin and not within the same gravity of a mortal sin and therefore the sinner can be saved. However bad a mortal sin is, according to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. The Struggle Of Democratic Peace Although countries in South America are not democratic for most of the last century, it has the fewest inter state wars there, which can be explained by geopolitics with balance of power, the trade off between benefits and costs, and relations among countries in this area. According to the theory of Democratic Peace, since democratic leaders have a larger wining coalitions, in order to keep in office, they need to gain support from selectorate, and democratic leaders facing with war are more inclined to shift extra resources into the war effort than are autocrats . In addition to trying harder, democrats are more selective in their choice of targets and democrats only initiate wars they expect to win. As a generalization, it is an empirical law that democracies do not fight wars with one another . On the contrary, with a small winning coalition, non democrats leaders are facing less risk of being deposed than are their democratic counterparts , therefore, they are not constrained by the selectorate and they are inclined to choose war when the expected benefit is larger than the cost of conflict, or larger than the benefit from negotiation. This may lead to the conclusion that non democrats are more likely to have conflicts with other countries. However, when we look at South America, despite the differences between some of the continent s countries, it has not experienced full scale interstate warfare in over 80 years . This is puzzling, since the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
