Assess The Efficiency Of The Persian Empire
Assess the efficiency of the Immortals in the expansion of the Persian empire.
Author s last name, first name. Title. City: Publisher, Year.
During antiquity, the Persian Empire was one of the most powerful and influential nations of the
world. With the help of prominent Kings and military strength, the Persian Empire expanded vastly
from 553 BCE until the death of Darius lll and the end of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia in 330

2nd PARAGRAPH : The Achaemneid force.
The Persian or Achaemenid force was an essential part of the extension of the Persian Empire. The
Persian army is said to be 3,000,000 warriors strong, with 2,641,610 soldiers,70,000 infantry,9,000
horsemen.
The Immortals:
The Immortals were an elite regiment of handpicked men trained from childhood into elite warriors.
They were imperial guards of the Achaemenid Sahs. Achaemenid brick reliefs in Persepolis represent
the Immortals as wearing elaborate robes and golden jewellery, although these garments would have
only been worn for ceremonial occasions as they would be impractical in warfare. Cyrus the Great
was the founder of the Immortals. During Cyrus s conquests, 10,000 of his finest troops were gathered
together to create a new regiment the Immortals. These were all Iranian men who loyally served the
King to their death. Only Iranians could join the Immortal regiment. They were trained from

Rhetorical Techniques In Billy Joel s The Nylon Curtain
While the term authored is traditionally applied to literary works, the term can be used in a broader
sense to refer to any piece which employs rhetorical devices in order to serve a specific purpose or put
forth a specific message. In terms of an audio album, the cover artwork is the first part a listener is
exposed to and can be expected to pique that person s curiosity so that they are led to learn more about
or buy the album. The artwork created by Christopher Austopchuk for Billy Joel s album The Nylon
Curtain exemplifies this concept of authoring as the scene he uses both draws one s interest when first
seen and embodies a part of the social commentary presented through the lyrics of the album. The
cover of The Nylon Curtain presents a bleak view of the American Dream, with an illustration of a
line of houses, all exactly the same: two stories, an attached garage, and a car inside the ... Show more

The title brings to mind the historical scene in which the album was released due to the relation to the
figurative Iron Curtain which divided Europe at the time. With the Cold War continuing and the recent
loss of the Vietnam War, the title contributed to the dreary image which the cover paints for America
at the time. This reference to the conflict at the time further appeals to the sympathies of the audience,
with many opposing the war efforts which were ongoing for decades. Because of this, they would
likely have identified with both the title and the songs on the album which voiced opposition to the
war in Vietnam and spoke of the suffering caused by it. This use of pathos would lead one to be
curious about the meaning behind the title if they were to see the album in a record store, advancing
one main purpose of the cover artwork: to lead one to want to buy the

Effects Of Rms On The Weekly Calls
As RMS continues to indicate, based on our observations and more importantly on the review of
assets during our weekly calls with Altisource, RMS continues to believe on many of these assets, the
condition or location of the property is the primary driver behind not only the large reduction in list
price, but ultimately a sales price well below the initial list price, all of which contribute to extended
days on market and an increase in carrying costs incurred by the Trust. We believe one of the
contributors to this relates to the Altisource process where the listing agent is not local to the property
and typically has not personally visited the asset to assess the condition, the location, drive by the
comps and generally may not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because Altisource cannot be directed to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get Altisource
to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make appropriate adjustments that will generate
activity and offers.
RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative to our
opinion of market value. On listed assets with DOM of more than 60 days, RMS and Altisource
discuss the list price and agent feedback to understand why purchase offers have not been received.
RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks.
Another recent observation is an increase in the number of assets in pending contract that fall out
because the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend has continued to increase over the
past several months. Although Altisource does not provide statistics regarding overall fallout, RMS
has seen an increase based on our observations and the weekly calls. We believe this relates to the
process by which Altisource sells REO assets (on the HUBZU website), where there is no economic
penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property but fail to deliver an executed purchase
agreement (similar to what would happen in a traditional sale transaction). In addition, we believe the
lack of agent to agent contact and knowledge of whether a buyer visits the property prior to making an
offer also play a role in the increased fallout. Altisource reports

Essay On Wireless Connections
Many households across the United States are using internet systems. Wireless internet connections
can be found in almost every home. This makes access to the net simpler than ever. Consequently, the
connection is not always the most reliable. Individuals that play online video games understand
wireless connections are not as dependable as a hard wired connection. These WIFI connections tend
to become overwhelmed when there are multiple devices sharing the same connection. For this reason,
the result will be lagging, buffering, or complete signal loss. Many manufactured devices have the
compatibility of wired connection use. Smart televisions, desktop computers, video game platforms,
laptop computers and smart blu ray players are some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may also be done in the basement or crawl space by boring through the sole plate. Repeat the
following process at the machine the cabling is being installed. After completing the following, check
the fit of old work boxes in the hole of the drywall. Adjust the cutout if needed. You are now ready to
pull the wiring through the walls, attic, or cellar. A pathway free from obstruction will make the cable
pull to termination points simpler. You need to measure from router wall box to device wall box.
Calculate an extra two feet into the length of wire necessary. Cut the CAT5e wire to the appropriate
length for your run using wire cutters. Afterwards, push the wire down through the wall from the attic
or use a fish tape to push up from the basement or crawlspace. Once the CAT5e wire is detected inside
the wall box, it can be pulled through the wall cavity and old work box. Continue by securing the old
work box in the precut hole by tightening the screws in the corners of the work box. It is equally
important to repeat this step for the opposite side of your CAT5e run. It is also essential to have an
additional six inches of cable extending out of the work box to accommodate terminations. Once
completed, you may now begin the final phase of installation of your home network. The final phase
of the project is terminating the CAT5e cables. Popular connections used in a household are the
CAT5e keystone jack and RJ45 connectors. The

Jack Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies
In William Golding s best selling novel, Lord of the Flies man s inherent evil and savage nature is
revealed through Golding s strident world view, extraordinary use of literary devices, and superb
structure. Lord of the Flies was published in 1954 when it quickly became wildly popular. The novel
has had a difficult history following its immediate fame. Numerous schools, universities, and
institutions have barred the book from being taught for its use of racism, explicit content and vivid
imagery. Golding himself is an astounding reflection of the inner turmoil and harshness of his own
writing. William Golding detested the British class system and his book reflected his thoughts.
Golding wrote the novel during the second world war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jack is the book s symbol for the theme, man s inherent savage nature. Jack himself is nothing more
than an animalistic beast that finally gets uncaged and set free at the end of the novel. Jack finds his
identity in his tribe, as his tribe s animalistic tendencies grow, so do his. Jack also represents the boys
growing love for power and destruction, as well as the love for power and destruction that is in
everyone. Ralph is the symbol for common sense and logic. Ralph is rational and that s why he is the
original leader, why he is in control. He finds his identity in his morality and justness, which is what
made him so perfect for his starting role, and his ending role. The end of the book is chaos, something
Ralph doesn t fit into. The smaller characters also are symbols. Roger represents the desire for
violence and torture, Piggy represents intellect and maturity, and Simon represents piety. Following its
publication, Lord of the Flies was barred from being taught in many places worldwide for its
excessive use of discrimination, violence, and foul language (4). The novel was under the most duress
during 1980 1990 when several school districts around the country refused to teach the book and
challenged the novel to their superiors (4). The teachers weren t just troubled with the violence,
discrimination, and foul language, but also that the boys in the novel weren t fighting for survival,
they were fighting simply to satiate the beast within themselves

Radiation Threats to Astronauts on a Long Journey through Space Astronauts travelling to Mars or
another distant area of interest would face numerous challenges throughout their journey, one of which
is being exposed to radiation from space. There are two types of radiation: ionizing radiation and non
ionizing radiation. [1] Non ionizing radiation is radiation that cannot cause electrons to become
detached from the atom, like visible light and radio waves. [1] This type of radiation is not dangerous
for astronauts and is commonly found on Earth. Ionizing radiation, on the other hand, has enough
energy to remove electrons from their orbits around an atom, causing a charged particle. [1] ... Show

[1] This type of radiation would be dangerous for astronauts, and it would need to be shielded against
for long distance space travel to be viable. SPE are the ejection of very energetic protons, alpha
particles and heavier particles into space; these include solar flares and coronal mass ejections. [1]
Under normal conditions, astronauts would not be concerned about this, but occasionally, very large
SPEs occur that can produce radiation with energy levels high enough to be lethal in a very short
period of time. In fact, between Apollo missions 16 and 17, one of the largest SPEs ever recorded
occurred, and it produced radiation with energy levels that would be lethal to astronauts outside the
atmosphere in under 10 hours. [1] The health risks of radiation exposure can be described as either
acute or chronic. Acute exposure is short term and the severity of symptoms ranges from nausea to
central nervous system damage and even to death in large doses. [2] Chronic exposure is usually less
intense radiation but for a longer period of time, and the health risks include developing cataracts and
an increased risk of cancer. [2] This is the most pressing issue for astronaut safety. Normally, when
exposed to the low levels of radiation we encounter every day, cells are able to mend themselves very
quickly. When we are exposed to high doses, such as astronauts would encounter in space, cells may
not be able to repair themselves and can become mutated

that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it. The term juvenoia was created by
sociologist Dave Finkelhor which translates into the fear of what influences kids today . As
technology and the ways we receive education shifts, what once influenced our thoughts and beliefs
will either be forgotten or no longer practiced as new information is shared. Every parent will suffer

Throughout the history of the United States there have been many foreign policies that have carried
on. President Obama has recently attempted to lift the embargo and open relations with Cuba. An
embargo is a hindrance that hinders trading between countries. Not everyone agrees with President
Obama s attempt at trying to get rid of hindrances in trading between the
United States and Cuba, while other presidential candidates such as Hillary Clinton and Donald
Trump have their own views on the decision made by Barack Obama. The embargo of Cuba causes
another international crisis, whereas these type of miscommunications should be eliminated. When

electronic resources collectively known as your sources) that you have used in writing your

requirement. It is unethical (and can be illegal) to pass off the intellectual property of others as your

thing is that both the author and then the date are included. While the date is always in brackets, the
author may be inside or outside the brackets, but should always be adjacent to the date. If the authors

when there are multiple authors? It s not too hard. The exact rules are found in the APA manual in
section 3.95, starting on page 208. For two authors you always include them both. Outside the

developments we ve seen in recent years that is forcing the public to question reality. Consumers from
all over the world are flocking to the shelves to buy these newly affordable VR products that take
them to new worlds and adventures. It is argued whether or not these products will have a dramatic

lifelike scenarios which make greater demands on processing speed, memory and rendering time. The

everyone. The main effects a user might feel due to cybersickness are headaches, nausea, etc. Age,
balance, health, all influence the effects and it is completely different for everyone. Another problem
people are facing is the factor of time. It takes time to develop these virtual reality worlds and the user
can sometimes get lost in time and not realize how much has gone by. With more knowledge and tests

The War Of 1812 And The United States
The War of 1812 is the second war between the United States of America and Great Britain that ends
in a draw. Also referred to as the Second War of Independence, the cause of this military conflict is
often believed to be a direct result of England s attempt to humiliate the United States, limit the
country s growth and impact (acts of interference towards American trade, which is a sign of
disrespect towards American independence), and acts of impressment (taking sailors off American
vessels and forcing them into providing services for the British Royal Navy). Although the ultimate
outcome of the War of 1812 results in a tie, the Americans have faced several challenges during the
presence of their second dispute with Britain. Arguably, the main reason that caused the United States
to struggle during this Second War of Independence, is how unprepared the nation is when it comes to
fighting another series of battles.
During the War of 1812, the power of the army and navy forces in the United States of America seems
to be lacking in both its quantity and quality value of soldiers, weapons, and supplies. In comparison
to Great Britain, who, at the time, has the leading military in the world, boasting both a powerful army
and navy, the Americans appears to be at a clear disadvantage. According to primary and secondary
sources on www.napoleanseries.org, during the War of 1812, there were approximately 250,000
soldiers in the British Army and approximately 500

The Ban On Tobacco Advertising
On Feb 6, 2001, Government of India announced a bill banning Tobacco Companies from advertising
their products and sponsoring sports and cultural events. The objective was to discourage adolescents
from consuming tobacco products and also arm the Government with powers to launch an anti
Tobacco Program.
Summarize the arguments for the ban on tobacco advertising in India.
Advocates of free choice opposed to these prohibitions, saying these amounted to unwarranted
intrusion by the state into the private lives of its citizens.
Supporters stay countries like France, Finland, and Norway had already imposed similar bans.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), tobacco accounted for over 3 million deaths in
1990, the figure rising to 4.023 million deaths in 1998. It was estimated that tobacco related deaths
would increase to 8.4 million in 2020 and 10 million in about 2030.
However, a study on tobacco consumption and employment showed that effective policies to reduce
smoking were likely to increase, and not decrease employment. The reason for this was that when
people stopped smoking, the money did not disappear from the economy. It was spent on other goods
and services, which the study showed, were more labor intensive.
A World Bank report had pointed out that policymakers who wanted to control tobacco should be
aware of the fact that bans on advertising and promotion would prove effective, only if they were
comprehensive covering all media and all uses of brand

Is College Worth It? In Life today a college education is no longer an option or privilege, but rather it
is a necessity. We are raised to believe that a person needs higher education in order to succeed in life.
There is a saying, if you think education is expensive, try ignorance. You may ask is college
necessary? There are people out in the real world that have never set a foot on a college campus before
and they are doing better than others that have their master s degree. There are many views from both
sides that have a good argument. The main reason people go to college is because they were always

They do not want to be looked down upon in the eyes of society so they do what they think is best.
The idea to become a productive person in society is that you must have some sort of college
education. Being a college student is seen as more respectable, rather then being a garbage man or
janitor because of the way society looks down upon these types of careers. Going to college and
receiving a degree does not guarantee that a person is going to get a job right after they graduate. It is
sometimes hard for some graduates to find a good job because there is so much competition with other
graduates as well. Sometimes they may get a job and it could be in a totally different field of what
they got their degree for. They must find a job though to pay off all the debt that an education has
given them. Many students feel that some classes are a waste of time and money because they learn
nothing about their chosen field. They have to take classes that have nothing to do with their major but
must take the class to meet the core education requirement of the college. If these students receive a
less than average grade in a class they feel is unneeded then that lowers their overall GPA. The major
reason of going to college is to get a good job. College prepares us with academic knowledge in order
to succeed in the future. Many people think that a higher education is essential to prepare a person for
their future. As

The Case Law On Horizontal Direct Effect Of Directives
The CJEU case law on horizontal direct effect of directives arguably lacks consistency in regards to
the application of the general principle. The principle of direct effect was established in Van Gend en
Loos v. Nederlandse Administratie der Belastingen. Although there is no set definition of direct effect,
a broader definition was provided in Van Gend en Loos that it can be expressed as the capacity of a
provision of EU law to be invoked before a national court. However, Van Dyun v. Home Office
established that directives are capable of direct effect. Furthermore, Marshall v. Southampton
established that there could only be vertical direct effect of directives. This stringent principle has
arguable ignited the highly contested debate of whether or not horizontal direct effect is applicable to
directives or if directives could only have vertical direct effect. However, this essay shall explore the
lack of consistency in case law regarding horizontal direct effect of directives. Firstly, this paper will
delve into the case law of the topic of horizontal direct effect of directives in efforts to try to highlight
its consistency in its approach. Secondly, the paper will use case law and the opinion of academics
(enter the name of the academics later) to highlight its inconsistencies using the legal mechanisms that
have been introduced by the Courts to try to compensate for the lack of horizontal direct effect of
directives. Namely, indirect effect, incidental horizontal

If the injured person is difficult to work with, or shows little to no drive to take the rehabilitation
seriously, the team will struggle. To help gain compliance, the team must keep the patient informed.
This applies to the overall course of the rehabilitation, along with the expectations and any changes
that may take place to better help the patient on the road to recovery. Individualization stands with the
fact that each person is different, meaning that every program for recovery will be at least, slightly
different. Each person s physiological and chemical difference mean that two patients may have
similar injuries, yet they have vastly different recovery programs. S brings the principle of specific
sequencing which states that a recovery or rehabilitation plan shall have a specific sequence of events
that are predetermined by the team to ensure the best outcome from the program. Intensity is the next
principle which stresses that a therapeutic exercise should challenge the patient as well as the injured
area, but not to the point where the exercise would cause aggravation. Knowing when to make the
exercises more of less intense is based on the amount of communication that happens between the
team and the

Death In Holy Sonnet 10 And Philip Larkin s Aubade
Part of being human is understanding we are not immortal, and will eventually cease to function. For
some, this acknowledgement is a daunting reality swept into the back of the mind to be forgotten.
While for others it is an inspiring awareness that encourages us to live every day to its fullest
potential. Both of these feelings about death can be seen in John Donne s, Holy Sonnet 10 and Philip
Larkin s, Aubade . Together they challenge the reader to accept their fate and make the most of the
time we have on Earth. Both authors employ various poetic devices and prosody to give an
understanding of death.
John Donne s Holy Sonnet 10 serves as both a direct address towards death, and as a sermon on what
happens after death for those who practice Christianity. The speaker gives reassurance to those who
may fear death and what comes afterwards. Even though the speaker is discussing a somber matter,
the overall tone of the poem is uplifting thereby further challenging the typical way people view death.
The speaker belittles death when he/she questions death s magnitude and power over humans.
Throughout the poem, the speaker compares death to a restful slumber. Rests are temporary states that
bring much pleasure (Line 6). By relating death to sleep, the speaker says death is not permanent, but
rather a momentary phase that ultimately will bring happiness. Death is a phase and after one short
sleep past, we wake eternally (Line 13). This relates to the Christian belief

The 4 H s In The Odyssey
Myths have a very important function in the story that may not be the most obvious idea. Myths
explains a code of behavior with rewards and punishments. Odyssey explains the 4 H s through the
actions and adventure of Odysseus. The 4 H s are the honor, hospitality, hubris, and heroism that
comes from greek mythology. Honor means reputation of excellence and back then in time of
Odysseus it didn t necessarily mean one was to be a good person. Hospitality is retreating a stranger
with respect and protection, and providing what they need. Hubris, the opposite of humility, refers to
extreme, ignorant pride or arrogance which is can be punished by the gods. Heroism using one s
brains as much as they use their muscle. First, throughout the story we can see Odysseus achieve
honor. However Odysseus honor is different from ours. He killed men and kidnapped women for
honor. He found his honor in Ismarus when (he), I stormed that place and killed the men who fought.

Evaluation Of A Letter Of Acceptance
It is indicative for consideration to be effective it must also move from the promise. The individual
who desires to implement the contract must display that they provided consideration. In this case
Tobias offered consideration in sending a letter of acceptance. In sending a letter Tobias ensured
acceptance was communicated. When Tobias entered in to a contract it was constructed on the
agreement of a service by M S at the rate of six hours at ÂŁ75 (+VAT) an hour per team member to
clean his house when Melinda indicated to Tobias of a new offer at ÂŁ100 (+VAT) an hour per team
member, in effect cancelled the original offer. A contract can be terminated in certain circumstances
and methods. The offeror may revoke an offer before it has been accepted and any counter offer also
terminates the original offer. In Carlill v Carbolic Smoke Ball Company, the revocation must take a
form that is similar to the offer. The post rule for revocation is an interesting take on contract law.
Based on the principle which was determined by Byrne v Van Tienhoven, the revocation must be
communicated effectively directly or indirectly to the offeree before acceptance to be in effect. As
Tobias implemented the method by speeder response, same day delivery to deliver his revocation
subsequently the applied postal principle equation can be deliberated based on it being delivered by
the royal mail or by other couriers. Regarding this matter special deliveries in the terms of private

Purpose of Analysis:
The purpose of this document is to provide our Client an in depth analysis, (including
recommendation) as to whether they should or should not invest in Northrop Grumman Company.
Background and Brief History:
Northrop Grumman s rich heritage includes almost two dozen legacy companies which pioneered
dramatic advances in technology that has changed the world. Some of their most notable highlights
included transporting Charles Lindbergh across the Atlantic, landing astronauts on the moon, creating
advanced electronic systems and information networks, and building stealthy flying wings.

Financial Analysis:
Operating Performance Assessment
Northrop Grumman manage and assess our business based on their performance under contracts and
programs (typically two or more closely related contracts). Sales from their portfolio of long term
contracts are primarily recognized using the cost to cost method of percentage of completion
accounting, but in some cases the units of delivery method of percentage of completion accounting is
utilized. As a result, sales tend to fluctuate in concert with costs incurred across our large portfolio of
contracts. Due to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) rules that govern our U.S Government
business and related Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), most types of costs are allocable to U.S.
Government contracts, and we do not focus on individual cost groupings (such as manufacturing,
engineering and design labor costs, subcontractor costs, material costs, overhead costs and general and
administrative costs), as much as we do on total contract cost, which is the key driver of our sales and
operating income.
In evaluating their operating performance, you will need to look primarily at changes in sales and
operating income, including the effects of meaningful changes in operating income as a result of
changes in contract estimates. Where applicable, significant fluctuations in operating performance

A Successful Business Leadership Style
The ultimate aim of this research is to highlight a successful business leadership style. The intention is
to research business leadership in the developing countries, and devise a new framework or strategy
that can be used by businesses and education systems within developing countries and possibly other
Asian countries. This framework would identify the qualities necessary to develop an appropriate
leadership style to be an effective leader in organisations operating. This will be achieved by
investigating the social and cultural environment and look at how these forces affect the business
environment, and in particular the qualities of a good leader within the organisation. The research
aims to fill a gap in the existing body of knowledge to do with leadership and management in different
regions of the world.
LITERATURE REVIEW
Background
Broadly speaking, leadership can be defined as a process in which an individual influences a group of
individuals to work towards the achievement of a common goal or vision (Lussier, 1996; Northouse,
2001; Stogdill, 1974). Moreover, Bush and Coleman (2000) note that since most of what has been
written about leadership draws upon western cultural models, it should be borne in mind that
leadership might well be viewed differently in different cultures.
The difference between leadership and management is vividly encapsulated in Bass s model of
transformational and transactional leadership styles. Transformational leaders

Essay On Anti Semitism
Jews are a standout amongst the most stereotyped religious social orders ever, with the media every
now and again utilizing negative pictures at whatever point they write about Judaism and the Jewish
race. History demonstrates that Jews were constrained from their country and turned into an itinerant
individuals, spreading all through Europe. Regarded as untouchables in Europe, local people were
suspicious of the Jews and made numerous myths and pessimistic generalizations about them which
are propagated today. Numerous limitations on callings were put on the Jewish individuals in the
medieval times. The Catholic Church and numerous Christians accepted that loaning cash for

Examples Of Parallelism In Paradise Lost
TE subject: Paradise Lost, by John MILTON
Sources: the poem
Words: around 2221 (Please note that the quotes are not included in the word count. Neither is this
little bit you re reading)
Paradise Lost is a long biblical epic poem that John Milton had planned twenty years before its
publication in 1667. Milton wanted to produce something equivalent to the works of Homer (Iliad),
Dante and Virgil, a long narrative, as it speaks about long journeys, that relate the story of a hero, who
is often meant to have superhuman traits and whose deeds entail the future of a hole nation, tribe or
the human race as it is the case in Paradise Lost. These masterpieces are written in a high stylistic
language and describe important battles in which supernatural ... Show more content on

Moreover, there are also similarities even in characters; we have the king (Charles I) who is compared
to God in Paradise Lost; which means that God is a monarch in Heaven. Also, the head of the
rebellion in Milton s life time, Cromwell and his supporters represented in Paradise Lost by Satan and
the Angels that follow him. According to history, Milton was a puritan political activist and published
plenty of political pamphlets against the royal system. In Paradise Lost he seems to make the same
thing but in a different and elevated style. He defended Cromwell and was involved in his
administration and this leads Milton to make a sort of comparison between Cromwell and Satan. But
we may be surprised by this comparison because when we say Satan we mean the devil which can
suggest bad and evil side. So, Satan s character is a little bit an ambiguous character, he represents
very courageous and powerful values on earth (which are the characteristics of an epic hero) but at the
same time he represents the devilish spirit in heaven. Nevertheless, Satan was described as an
archangel in heaven; Milton

Round Characters In The Destructors
Convincing Characters in Graham Greene s The Destructors
The character Blackie in the short story The Destructors is a convincing character because he displays
traits that are found in real people. Convincing characters are similar to round characters, because they
are complex and many sided; they have the three dimensional quality of real people (Johnson, Arp
144). On the other hand, a flat character is the opposite of a round character, and only displays one to
two character traits. This generally makes them easier to predict and understand, because there is less
to understand. Round characters are more difficult to predict, because they have more character traits
to keep track of, and they are more like real people. If a character behaves ... Show more content on

This story takes place in a town that has recently been hit by a bomb during the Blitz, and focuses on a
gang of boys, an old man nicknamed Old Misery , and his home. The leader of the gang s name is
Blackie, and he is their leader, until a boy named Trevor takes over. When this happens, Blackie
gracefully steps down. This is shown in the story when it says, He ll tell you, Blackie said. It was the
end of his leadership. (Greene 109). After Blackie says this, he quietly walks away and kicks a rock
around before returning to the gang. He might have done this because he believed that he could gain
leadership back, but not if he was not a part of the gang. By backing down and allowing Trevor to
become leader of his gang without putting up a fight so that he could regain leadership later, Blackie
proves that he is a complex character. This could not have been predicted, however, it can be
understood later. Usually, when someone has their authority challenged, they become angry and do
their best to protect their position. This is not the case with Blackie. He actually befriends Trevor, and

Hypothesis: Extensive viewing of television violence causes children to behave in aggressive or
harmful ways to others.
Children model behavior they see in the media, she wrote in 1993. If kids don t see the consequences
of violence, it teaches them that violence doesn t cause serious harm. When heroes use violence it
sends a message that violence is an appropriate way to respond to problems.
Ever since TV has been introduced into the homes, parents, teacher and psychologists have been
wanting to know about the impact of TV on children. According to the report given by National

Stick Figures In Australia
For the Australian fairy tale, it has been a long journey in search of nationhood identity. With the
enduring legacy of Australia s history as a settler colony there was no surprise that it invested the
landscape with strangeness and it became a part of the dream like world within fairy tales. Through
the history of Australian literary culture, the mythology of the bush tradition has been a powerful
voice in the Australian cultural context, which continues to have strong force in creating national
identity. However, it has become an inaccurate form of cultural identity. Here I will show how the
texts The Gown of Cobweb Lace in Peg Maltbys collection Peg s Fairy book and Stick Figures in
Tales of Outter Suburbia by Shaun Tan, illuminates the evolution of illustration in the fairy tales which
seems to have recorded the social history that has not been described in any other form, exploring ...

It is clear within Stick Figures the world around them has evolved, and they are the ones that are out

Technology Addiction Essay
Technology addiction is perceived as a major problem by the majority of American parents. In
Bergman s Don t Limit Your Teen s Screen Time , Bergman uses his personal experience as both a
parent and as an avid technology user to justify his argument that screen time limits have negative
effects on children. On the other hand, in Boyd s Blame Society, Not the Screen Time , Boyd blames
the American Education system, and parents for technology addiction in children, and proposes that
children should have less pressure and more free time to spend with their friends. While Bergman
utilizes his past and current experiences with technology to craft a clear argument against technology,
Boyd creates a stronger argument by drawing on her years of ... Show more content on

While games like minecraft, and applications like photoshop may allow children to flourish, it is not
the mindless, violent entertainment most parents worry about. By conveniently ignoring the concerns
of his audience, Bergman creates a divide, tremendously hurting his argument. Bergman states that
limiting screen time only fuels covert binging, (Bergman). To test his theory, Bergman stopped
restricting [his] children s screen time in [his] house, and immediately saw results (Bergman). This
one time experiment doesn t come close to the years of experience that Boyd reflects upon.
Unlike Bergman, Boyd uses strong claims, and a variety of evidence to support her argument. Boyd
reasons that since children have limited freedom and are given busy schedules, they are unable to
socialize with their peers. Boyd cites much higher levels of concern about technology addiction in
countries where there s even greater pressure to succeed and fewer social opportunities (Boyd).
Countries that pressure their children to succeed by loading their schedule with work typically have
high levels of technology addiction, and the inverse is true for countries that focus on student
happiness. Boyd notes that Finland and the Netherlands consistently outperform the U.S. in school,
and they emphasize student happiness, assigning no homework (Boyd). Not only does this approach
increase test grades, it also correlates to parents being less anxious about technology

Evaluation Of The Post Assessment
For the post assessment, I have organized data results to display a score for each lesson taught as well
a total score for the entire test, for each student. This way, there is a clear result of student
understanding of standards and objectives in each section of the post test, organized by the lessons that
were taught. Based on the student scores, there is a balance of understanding throughout the post
assessment, for all lessons. Although there seems to be a balance of understanding for each lesson,
almost all students scored full points on the questions dealing with the first lesson. The post

were only two students who scored poorly on this test. One student, had been absent, the other student
I know I need to work more closely with. Even though these scores were low, they still improved from
their original test score. Overall, students could show attainment of the standards and objectives, and

skills through this test. As I stated above, levels of achievement were high! My students showed high
scores on their posttest with scores such as 7, 8, 9, and 10. Students who did not score high, still

their original scores of the pre test. Pre test scores showed that students had little to no understanding

Citizen Kane Analysis
Citizen Kane is a movie that can be rewritten and implemented into any film created today. In many
ways, the storyline tells us more about ourselves than anything else and it relates to each one of us
who has ever wished for a blah blah life. From his flamboyant adventures to the blah blah to his
political agenda in his later years. Every film that came after Citizen Kane owes a great deal to Orson
Welles because of the way he used music, shadows and lighting, and special effects, which without a
doubt makes it one of the finest movies ever made. Some even call it the Mona Lisa of its time
because Orson Welles was the first to implement these techniques, which revolutionize cinema
forever.
It is believed that more than 50 percent of the film involved special effects. One of the many reasons is
because the film itself was made on a budget and the other being for the nature and scope of its subject
(The Denny Life) to keep cost down. One of the methods that revolutionize cinematography was the
introduction of a technique known as deep focus by Orson Welles. Deep focus is the use of having
everything in the frame even the background in focus at the same time contrary to having only the
people or object in the foreground in focus (The Denny Life). Moreover, the deep focus technique
requires the cinematographer to combine lighting, composition, and type of camera lens to produce
the desired effect. For example, Orson Welles use this technique in several occasions

Analysis Of The Movie The Heart Of The Sea
December is usually a time of celebration where most people enjoy the holidays loved ones. Unlike
every other year, this season will include a blockbuster film that is loosely based off the classic tale,
Moby Dick. However, the trailers for In the Heart of the Sea, directed by Ron Howard, are based of a
book version with the same title. The abstract idea of this movie sounds phenomenal, but the when it
comes to the teaser trailer that is supposed to be about a giant whale, it did not seem to make a splash.
The movie is not slated to be released until December 11, 2015, but it is clear to see that the teaser
trailer has given the movie a negative vibe. Luckily, the official trailer was released about a month
later, and it has revived the film through the extremely well crafted usage of plot details, appropriate
music, and dialogue.
Ron Howard started his career as a child actor on the classic television shows. Soon later he began
breaking the barrier into movies, and Howard convinced Roger Corman, a producer, to help him direct
Howard s film project. Three years later, Howard evolved into a well established movie director. Mr.
Howard has now directed many movies that have resulted in success. For example, he is the genius
behind the movie, Apollo 13 (Ron Howard Biography). The award winning director s latest project
has had a difficult beginning, but is now steadily evolving into a great film thanks to the official
trailer.

Mary Shelley s Presentation of the Relationship Between Frankenstein and the Creature
It was on a dreary night of November that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils. These are the
famous words of Mary Shelley that foretold the birth of Frankenstein s monster. A tale of catastrophe,
love and endless yet hopeless toil; the tale of Victor Frankenstein is a perfect example of early gothic
literature. Born on a dreary summer in 1816, his story has been immortalised in not only the pages of
many books but also on the silver screen.

Time and time again throughout the book this is proven through not only Frankenstein s ever
persistent hunting of the creature but also the creatures need to be close to Frankenstein. It is this
relationship that Mary Shelley exploits, through the use of language, which keeps the reader interested
throughout the book.
It is not until the fifth chapter that Frankenstein s lust for the creature, and ensuing obsession for the
gift of life is quite realised. Set on a dreary night of November , as the rain pattered dismally against
the panes , Mary Shelly immediately provides the reader with a classic gothic scene, readying them
for the obvious catastrophes that are about to ensue. The addition of the tension provided by
Frankenstein s comments as he collected the instruments of life around him , and suffered with an
anxiety that almost amounted to agony stand well in giving the reader some idea of how long this
moment has been in preparation.
Shelley goes on to provide a gruesome description of the creature: His yellow skin scarcely covered
the muscles ñ€© his hair was of a lustrous black ñ€© his teeth a pearly white ñ€© these luxuriance s only
formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes . It is at this description that Frankenstein
comments of it being beautiful . This reaction could be compared to that of a parent whose love for

The s Long And Rich History
Traditions have always played a large role in Sweet Briar College s long and rich history, it s a part of
what makes the college so unique. These traditions do not appear today in the same forms as those in
the past. The pressures of external and internal forces have changed them. Some of the most extensive
changes have come from strife at Sweet Briar during the Vietnam war and integration of the college. A
recent paper written in 2007 but Alaina McKee argues that a change in the nature of traditions
happened in the early 1940 s but research I have conducted suggests otherwise.
McCandless argues that even up until the late 1930 s southern women were held to strict standards
including restrictions on attire, outings, and even males. She calls this standard the pedestal. After
analyzing scores of editions of The Briar Patch from the 1930 s up through the mid 1970 s it is clear
that a change was happening; beginning with the mid to late 1960 s that moved away from this
pedestal she describes. McCandless discusses the importance of traditions in all women s colleges in
both the North and the South; but also recognizes that southern women s colleges held onto these
ideologies longer than their northern counterparts. May Day is just one example of an important
tradition that was held closer to the heart of the women in the south. While northern colleges were
making way for new ideas colleges in the south still clung to the ideas of the past. For example, when

The Intelligence Of The Cia Triad Network Security
Introduction
Over the last few years the amount of security breaches that have been reported have had one factor
that has been prevalent in majority of the attacks. That factor is the employee s and how they are
manipulated into giving the intruder/hacker exactly what they needed without realizing it. The use of
social engineering in data breaches and fraud has been steadily increasing over the years.
Confidentiality, integrity, and availability the three components of the CIA triad in network security
can all be compromised by the risk of social engineering.
Definition of Social Engineering
Social engineering also known as people hacking is the art of utilizing human behavior to breach
security without the victim even realizing that they have been manipulated. Social engineering can be
further broken down to three methodologies.
1. Phishing The sending of emails appearing to be from a reputable source with the goal of gaining
personal information from the victim(s)
2. Vishing This is the practice of getting information from the victim or attempting to Influence
actions by the use of a telephone.
3. Impersonation This is the practice of pretending to be another person with the goal of obtaining
information or access to a person, company, or computer system.
Categories of Social Engineering
Social engineering attacks fall under to main categories:

Acquisition Process Of The Mine Resistant Ambush Protected...
The military did not deploy the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle using a rapid
acquisition process which delayed fielding of MRAPs and should not be repeated for critical needs.
Three primary processes drive the current Department of Defense (DoD) Major Defense Acquisition
Programs. They are requirements, acquisition, and funding. The requirements approval process within
the existing Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) was the greatest factor in
the MRAP delay. The MRAP is a V shaped hull vehicle designed early 1960s with additional armor to
protect against surface mines and explosives. The elevated chassis and V shaped hull caused the blast
to disperse away from the vehicle protecting the crew. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is less time to validate the requirement and determine if there are better alternatives to achieve
the same capability. The current JCIDS process focuses typically on future requirements so rapid
acquisition programs are disruptive of future acquisition programs. Current joint urgent operational
needs require separate approval, acquisition, and funding processes and funding is limited and
restricted for rapid acquisition programs. Between the time the military conducted initial MRAP tests
and the initial approval in 2006, the military was transitioning away from the original Requirements
Generation System (RGS) to the current JCIDS. Requirements from the field through each service
branch drove the RGS process resulting in standalone solutions to specific threats often not
considering non material alternatives. JCIDS provides systematic, integrated and interoperable
material and non material solutions to capability needs. JCIDS determines requirements from the top
and develops joint solutions with long term sustainment plans. The JROC is the final approving
authority within JCIDS before passing the requirement to the acquisition process. During this
transition the JROC membership remained unchanged, but they did change from last to first approving
authority in the major defense acquisition program process. This

Solubility of a Salt
Introduction
Mixture is two or more materials that can be physically separated, and there are two types of mixture:
heterogeneous and homogeneous. In heterogeneous, the different components of the mixture can be
seen separately. However, homogenous is the term of mixture which all components stick together to
be uniform. Also, in a mixture we have solvent and solute. A solvent is the major part of solution
which dissolves the solute, and solute is the part of solution that is being dissolved. Therefore the
combination of solvent and solute is solution which is a type of homogenous mixture. For example, if
water is the solvent and lemon juice and sugar are the solute, lemonade is the solution. Also, every
solution has its own solubility which is the maximum amount of solute that will dissolve in a solvent
under certain condition. A solution can be saturated, unsaturated, and super ... Show more content on

Death March Research Paper
The death marches were hideous forced marches made to move Holocaust prisoners from one camp to
another. Many of them met their end here, and in fact, thousands of prisoners died of exposure,
starvation, and exhaustion (ushmm.org 2017). On January 18, 1945, the first death march of the
Holocaust occurred. Thousands are killed in the days before the death march (ushmm.org 2017). The
prisoners forced on these dreadful walks were taken from Auschwitz, and almost 60,000 of them were
commanded to leave their barracks. They began marching to Gliwice, another concentration camp.
Over 15,000 innocent lives were wasted that day. The few lucky ones who were left alive were
liberated on January 27. There were three main purposes of death marches. The first was to eliminate
evidence by killing thousands of the prisoners, who could later account for the awful things done to
them if left alive. The second was that leaders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because frostbite had gotten that bad. Some tried to simply stop for only a couple seconds to pick up

the second they stopped. The SS guards had strict orders to kill prisoners who could no longer walk or

During antiquity, the Persian Empire was one of the most powerful and influential nations of the world. With the help of prominent Kings and military strength, the Persian Empire expanded vastly from 553 BCE until the death of Darius lll and the end of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia in 330 BCE Thesis Statement. Through analysis the Achaemenid Empire, the battles that lead to its expansion, and, to the warriors that fought them: The Persian force, the Greek force, and the Immortals. He also allowed the people he conquered to live according to their customs and restored sacred objects to the religious minority such as the Jews. Darius also expanded the nation also. One of his successfors, Darius also expanded the Persian Empire Cyrus began his reign by organizing the Persian Empire and, only after consolidating his realm, did he begin to expand its domain 2nd PARAGRAPH : The Achaemneid force. The Persian or Achaemenid force was an essential part of the extension of the Persian Empire. • 3. Rhetorical Techniques In Billy Joel s The Nylon Curtain While the term authored is traditionally applied to literary works, the term can be used in a broader sense to refer to any piece which employs rhetorical devices in order to serve a specific purpose or put forth a specific message. In terms of an audio album, the cover artwork is the first part a listener is exposed to and can be expected to pique that person s curiosity so that they are led to learn more about or buy the album. The artwork created by Christopher Austopchuk for Billy Joel s album The Nylon Curtain exemplifies this concept of authoring as the scene he uses both draws one s interest when first seen and embodies a part of the social commentary presented through the lyrics of the album. The cover of The Nylon Curtain presents a bleak view of the American Dream, with an illustration of a line of houses, all exactly the same: two stories, an attached garage, and a car inside the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title brings to mind the historical scene in which the album was released due to the relation to the figurative Iron Curtain which divided Europe at the time. With the Cold War continuing and the recent loss of the Vietnam War, the title contributed to the dreary image which the cover paints for America at the time. This reference to the conflict at the time further appeals to the sympathies of the audience, with many opposing the war efforts which were ongoing for decades. Because of this, they would likely have identified with both the title and the songs on the album which voiced opposition to the war in Vietnam and spoke of the suffering caused by it. This use of pathos would lead one to be curious about the meaning behind the title if they were to see the album in a record store, advancing one main purpose of the cover artwork: to lead one to want to buy the ... • 4. Effects Of Rms On The Weekly Calls As RMS continues to indicate, based on our observations and more importantly on the review of assets during our weekly calls with Altisource, RMS continues to believe on many of these assets, the condition or location of the property is the primary driver behind not only the large reduction in list price, but ultimately a sales price well below the initial list price, all of which contribute to extended days on market and an increase in carrying costs incurred by the Trust. We believe one of the contributors to this relates to the Altisource process where the listing agent is not local to the property and typically has not personally visited the asset to assess the condition, the location, drive by the comps and generally may not be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because Altisource cannot be directed to set the list price of an asset, RMS attempts to get Altisource to recognize assets that are listed too high and to make appropriate adjustments that will generate activity and offers. RMS continues to review assets where we believe the list price set by Altisource is high relative to our opinion of market value. On listed assets with DOM of more than 60 days, RMS and Altisource discuss the list price and agent feedback to understand why purchase offers have not been received. RMS targets these assets for review every 2 weeks. Another recent observation is an increase in the number of assets in pending contract that fall out because the buyer fails to return the purchase agreement. This trend has continued to increase over the past several months. Although Altisource does not provide statistics regarding overall fallout, RMS has seen an increase based on our observations and the weekly calls. We believe this relates to the process by which Altisource sells REO assets (on the HUBZU website), where there is no economic penalty to the bidder if they place an offer on a property but fail to deliver an executed purchase agreement (similar to what would happen in a traditional sale transaction). In addition, we believe the lack of agent to agent contact and knowledge of whether a buyer visits the property prior to making an offer also play a role in the increased fallout. There are two types of radiation: ionizing radiation and non ionizing radiation. [1] Non ionizing radiation is radiation that cannot cause electrons to become detached from the atom, like visible light and radio waves. [1] Under normal conditions, astronauts would not be concerned about this, but occasionally, very large SPEs occur that can produce radiation with energy levels high enough to be lethal in a very short period of time. In fact, between Apollo missions 16 and 17, one of the largest SPEs ever recorded occurred, and it produced radiation with energy levels that would be lethal to astronauts outside the atmosphere in under 10 hours. [1] The health risks of radiation exposure can be described as either acute or chronic. Acute exposure is short term and the severity of symptoms ranges from nausea to central nervous system damage and even to death in large doses. [2] Chronic exposure is usually less intense radiation but for a longer period of time, and the health risks include developing cataracts and an increased risk of cancer. [2] This is the most pressing issue for astronaut safety. Normally, when exposed to the low levels of radiation we encounter every day, cells are able to mend themselves very quickly. Also referred to as the Second War of Independence, the cause of this military conflict is often believed to be a direct result of England s attempt to humiliate the United States, limit the country s growth and impact (acts of interference towards American trade, which is a sign of disrespect towards American independence), and acts of impressment (taking sailors off American vessels and forcing them into providing services for the British Royal Navy). Although the ultimate outcome of the War of 1812 results in a tie, the Americans have faced several challenges during the presence of their second dispute with Britain. Arguably, the main reason that caused the United States to struggle during this Second War of Independence, is how unprepared the nation is when it comes to fighting another series of battles. During the War of 1812, the power of the army and navy forces in the United States of America seems to be lacking in both its quantity and quality value of soldiers, weapons, and supplies. The principle of direct effect was established in Van Gend en Loos v. Nederlandse Administratie der Belastingen. For some, this acknowledgement is a daunting reality swept into the back of the mind to be forgotten. While for others it is an inspiring awareness that encourages us to live every day to its fullest potential. Both of these feelings about death can be seen in John Donne s, Holy Sonnet 10 and Philip Larkin s, Aubade . Together they challenge the reader to accept their fate and make the most of the time we have on Earth. Both authors employ various poetic devices and prosody to give an understanding of death. John Donne s Holy Sonnet 10 serves as both a direct address towards death, and as a sermon on what happens after death for those who practice Christianity. The speaker gives reassurance to those who may fear death and what comes afterwards. Even though the speaker is discussing a somber matter, the overall tone of the poem is uplifting thereby further challenging the typical way people view death. The speaker belittles death when he/she questions death s magnitude and power over humans. Throughout the poem, the speaker compares death to a restful slumber. Rests are temporary states that bring much pleasure (Line 6). By relating death to sleep, the speaker says death is not permanent, but rather a momentary phase that ultimately will bring happiness. Death is a phase and after one short sleep past, we wake eternally (Line 13). This relates to the Christian belief ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He defended Cromwell and was involved in his administration and this leads Milton to make a sort of comparison between Cromwell and Satan. But we may be surprised by this comparison because when we say Satan we mean the devil which can suggest bad and evil side. So, Satan s character is a little bit an ambiguous character, he represents very courageous and powerful values on earth (which are the characteristics of an epic hero) but at the same time he represents the devilish spirit in heaven. Nevertheless, Satan was described as an archangel in heaven; Milton ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Round Characters In The Destructors Convincing Characters in Graham Greene s The Destructors The character Blackie in the short story The Destructors is a convincing character because he displays traits that are found in real people. Convincing characters are similar to round characters, because they are complex and many sided; they have the three dimensional quality of real people (Johnson, Arp 144). On the other hand, a flat character is the opposite of a round character, and only displays one to two character traits. This generally makes them easier to predict and understand, because there is less to understand. Round characters are more difficult to predict, because they have more character traits to keep track of, and they are more like real people. If a character behaves ... This story takes place in a town that has recently been hit by a bomb during the Blitz, and focuses on a gang of boys, an old man nicknamed Old Misery , and his home. The leader of the gang s name is Blackie, and he is their leader, until a boy named Trevor takes over. When this happens, Blackie gracefully steps down. This is shown in the story when it says, He ll tell you, Blackie said. It was the end of his leadership. (Greene 109). After Blackie says this, he quietly walks away and kicks a rock around before returning to the gang. He might have done this because he believed that he could gain leadership back, but not if he was not a part of the gang. By backing down and allowing Trevor to become leader of his gang without putting up a fight so that he could regain leadership later, Blackie proves that he is a complex character. This could not have been predicted, however, it can be understood later. Usually, when someone has their authority challenged, they become angry and do their best to protect their position. This is not the case with Blackie. He actually befriends Trevor, and together they burn money that Trevor found in the house: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Stick Figures In Australia For the Australian fairy tale, it has been a long journey in search of nationhood identity. With the enduring legacy of Australia s history as a settler colony there was no surprise that it invested the landscape with strangeness and it became a part of the dream like world within fairy tales. Through the history of Australian literary culture, the mythology of the bush tradition has been a powerful voice in the Australian cultural context, which continues to have strong force in creating national identity. However, it has become an inaccurate form of cultural identity. Here I will show how the texts The Gown of Cobweb Lace in Peg Maltbys collection Peg s Fairy book and Stick Figures in Tales of Outter Suburbia by Shaun Tan, illuminates the evolution of illustration in the fairy tales which seems to have recorded the social history that has not been described in any other form, exploring ... In Bergman s Don t Limit Your Teen s Screen Time , Bergman uses his personal experience as both a parent and as an avid technology user to justify his argument that screen time limits have negative effects on children. On the other hand, in Boyd s Blame Society, Not the Screen Time , Boyd blames the American Education system, and parents for technology addiction in children, and proposes that children should have less pressure and more free time to spend with their friends. By conveniently ignoring the concerns of his audience, Bergman creates a divide, tremendously hurting his argument. Bergman states that limiting screen time only fuels covert binging, (Bergman). To test his theory, Bergman stopped restricting [his] children s screen time in [his] house, and immediately saw results (Bergman). This one time experiment doesn t come close to the years of experience that Boyd reflects upon. Unlike Bergman, Boyd uses strong claims, and a variety of evidence to support her argument. Boyd reasons that since children have limited freedom and are given busy schedules, they are unable to socialize with their peers. Boyd cites much higher levels of concern about technology addiction in countries where there s even greater pressure to succeed and fewer social opportunities (Boyd). Countries that pressure their children to succeed by loading their schedule with work typically have high levels of technology addiction, and the inverse is true for countries that focus on student happiness. Boyd notes that Finland and the Netherlands consistently outperform the U.S. in school, and they emphasize student happiness, assigning no homework (Boyd). In many ways, the storyline tells us more about ourselves than anything else and it relates to each one of us who has ever wished for a blah blah life. From his flamboyant adventures to the blah blah to his political agenda in his later years. Every film that came after Citizen Kane owes a great deal to Orson Welles because of the way he used music, shadows and lighting, and special effects, which without a doubt makes it one of the finest movies ever made. Some even call it the Mona Lisa of its time because Orson Welles was the first to implement these techniques, which revolutionize cinema forever. It is believed that more than 50 percent of the film involved special effects. One of the many reasons is because the film itself was made on a budget and the other being for the nature and scope of its subject (The Denny Life) to keep cost down. One of the methods that revolutionize cinematography was the introduction of a technique known as deep focus by Orson Welles. Deep focus is the use of having everything in the frame even the background in focus at the same time contrary to having only the people or object in the foreground in focus (The Denny Life). Moreover, the deep focus technique requires the cinematographer to combine lighting, composition, and type of camera lens to produce the desired effect. • 32. Analysis Of The Movie The Heart Of The Sea December is usually a time of celebration where most people enjoy the holidays loved ones. Unlike every other year, this season will include a blockbuster film that is loosely based off the classic tale, Moby Dick. However, the trailers for In the Heart of the Sea, directed by Ron Howard, are based of a book version with the same title. The abstract idea of this movie sounds phenomenal, but the when it comes to the teaser trailer that is supposed to be about a giant whale, it did not seem to make a splash. The movie is not slated to be released until December 11, 2015, but it is clear to see that the teaser trailer has given the movie a negative vibe. Luckily, the official trailer was released about a month later, and it has revived the film through the extremely well crafted usage of plot details, appropriate music, and dialogue. Ron Howard started his career as a child actor on the classic television shows. Soon later he began breaking the barrier into movies, and Howard convinced Roger Corman, a producer, to help him direct Howard s film project. Three years later, Howard evolved into a well established movie director. Mr. Howard has now directed many movies that have resulted in success. For example, he is the genius behind the movie, Apollo 13 (Ron Howard Biography). These are the famous words of Mary Shelley that foretold the birth of Frankenstein s monster. Born on a dreary summer in 1816, his story has been immortalised in not only the pages of many books but also on the silver screen. It is not until the fifth chapter that Frankenstein s lust for the creature, and ensuing obsession for the gift of life is quite realised. Set on a dreary night of November , as the rain pattered dismally against the panes , Mary Shelly immediately provides the reader with a classic gothic scene, readying them for the obvious catastrophes that are about to ensue. The addition of the tension provided by Frankenstein s comments as he collected the instruments of life around him , and suffered with an anxiety that almost amounted to agony stand well in giving the reader some idea of how long this moment has been in preparation. These traditions do not appear today in the same forms as those in the past. The pressures of external and internal forces have changed them. Some of the most extensive changes have come from strife at Sweet Briar during the Vietnam war and integration of the college. A recent paper written in 2007 but Alaina McKee argues that a change in the nature of traditions happened in the early 1940 s but research I have conducted suggests otherwise. McCandless argues that even up until the late 1930 s southern women were held to strict standards including restrictions on attire, outings, and even males. She calls this standard the pedestal. After analyzing scores of editions of The Briar Patch from the 1930 s up through the mid 1970 s it is clear that a change was happening; beginning with the mid to late 1960 s that moved away from this pedestal she describes. McCandless discusses the importance of traditions in all women s colleges in both the North and the South; but also recognizes that southern women s colleges held onto these ideologies longer than their northern counterparts. May Day is just one example of an important tradition that was held closer to the heart of the women in the south. While northern colleges were making way for new ideas colleges in the south still clung to the ideas of the past. For example, when May Day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The use of social engineering in data breaches and fraud has been steadily increasing over the years. Confidentiality, integrity, and availability the three components of the CIA triad in network security can all be compromised by the risk of social engineering. Definition of Social Engineering Social engineering also known as people hacking is the art of utilizing human behavior to breach security without the victim even realizing that they have been manipulated. Social engineering can be further broken down to three methodologies. 1. Phishing The sending of emails appearing to be from a reputable source with the goal of gaining personal information from the victim(s) 2. Three primary processes drive the current Department of Defense (DoD) Major Defense Acquisition Programs. They are requirements, acquisition, and funding. The requirements approval process within the existing Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) was the greatest factor in the MRAP delay. Between the time the military conducted initial MRAP tests and the initial approval in 2006, the military was transitioning away from the original Requirements Generation System (RGS) to the current JCIDS. Requirements from the field through each service branch drove the RGS process resulting in standalone solutions to specific threats often not considering non material alternatives. Solubility Of A Salt Lab Report Sozi Hassan Section 3 November 7, 2016 Solubility of a Salt Introduction Mixture is two or more materials that can be physically separated, and there are two types of mixture: heterogeneous and homogeneous. In heterogeneous, the different components of the mixture can be seen separately. However, homogenous is the term of mixture which all components stick together to be uniform. Also, in a mixture we have solvent and solute. A solvent is the major part of solution which dissolves the solute, and solute is the part of solution that is being dissolved. Therefore the combination of solvent and solute is solution which is a type of homogenous mixture. For example, if water is the solvent and lemon juice and sugar are the solute, lemonade is the solution. Many of them met their end here, and in fact, thousands of prisoners died of exposure, starvation, and exhaustion (ushmm.org 2017). On January 18, 1945, the first death march of the Holocaust occurred. Thousands are killed in the days before the death march (ushmm.org 2017).
