Learning pathways
Learning pathway is described as the chosen route,
taken by a learner through a range of (commonly)
e-learning activities, which allows them to build
knowledge progressively. With learning pathways,
the control of choice moves away from the tutor to
the learner.
Digital curation is the process of sorting
through vast amounts of existing learning
resources on the web, reviewing the content,
organizing and sharing it in meaningful way –
adding value and context with your own
editorial voice - around a specific theme or
topic.
The art and science of curation is separating
the gems from the junk and adding your own
original editorial voice.

Hinweis der Redaktion

  1. What is Curation? It’s the process of sorting through vast amount of content on web and organizing it in a meaningful, contextual way for learners. It’s about adding relevancy, context to pre-existing content and tying together disparate assets with “curation glue” which is part of the art and science of formal or L&D curation. L&D curation consists of part user experience theories/frameworks, learning science, and social learning behaviors (neuroscience). It’s NOT just a random collection of information on a specific topic. (e.g. like Spotify, Pandora or others)
  2. In fact, most of the things we use to learn now aren’t connected to each other, much less to our HR or business systems. They don’t work together, or share data. As a result, none of them can give you a complete picture of someone’s learning activity, let alone their skill sets. There has been an explosion of new learning resources over the last decade. Everyone now has access to millions of courses and books and blogs and articles and videos and apps and podcasts and social networks. There are now 9,400+ MOOCs. In 2012, there were none (https://www.class-central.com/report/mooc-stats-2017/) 100,000+ TEDx Talks (https://blog.ted.com/achievement-unlocked-tedx-celebrates-100000-talks/) And at least 200,000 education apps fro Android alone (https://www.quora.com/How-many-apps-are-there-in-the-Education-category-in-iTunes-and-Google-Play) And the choices are getting more varied every day. There are already 4,000+ Alexa Skills for education and reference. (https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=lp_13727921011_nr_n_3?fst=as%3Aoff&rh=n%3A13727921011%2Cn%3A%2113727922011%2Cn%3A14284821011&bbn=13727922011&ie=UTF8&qid=1522289736&rnid=13727922011) So now, anyone can learn pretty much anything they have to, however they want, any time they need to, anywhere they go – often for little or no cost. Which means individuals and managers are increasingly in control. STATS: A typical company uses 22 different tools and technologies to manage and deliver learning to its employees – and that number has doubled in the last 5 years. (https://towardsmaturity.org/2017/11/27/ld-where-are-we-now) Only 6.5% of L&D leaders say their learning technologies are well-integrated with other learning, HR or business systems. (http://campaigns.thestarrconspiracy.com/2017-learning-buyer-report/buying-trends)
  3. http://www.gadgetreview.com/2013/12/vuzix-m2000ar-hmd-smart-glasses
  4. Generally, the term "microlearning" refers to micro-perspectives in the context of learning, education and training. Because old school training is expensive, time-consuming, and simply can’t be produced fast enough to react to a constantly changing work environment. By 2025, Millennials alone will make up that 75 percent of the workforce. The average attention span of the Millennial generation is 90 seconds. Deloitte recently estimated digital skills have a half-life of just 2.5 years for any given role. And because despite technology and digital products rapidly proliferating and evolving, these developments are only able to improve performance with the right training.
  5. Learning pathway is described as the chosen route, taken by a learner through a range of (commonly) e-learning activities, which allows them to build knowledge progressively. With learning pathways, the control of choice moves away from the tutor to the learner.
  6. What is Curation? It’s the process of sorting through vast amount of content on web and organizing it in a meaningful, contextual way for learners. It’s NOT just a random collection of information on a specific topic. (e.g. like Spotify, Pandora or others)
  7. on average, according to recent research cites by Domo. Bottom line - With the sheer amount of content published every 60 seconds, it’s easy to be overloaded with information. None of us want to do that to our learners. Degreed is designed and engineered to help you and your people systematically discover, build and measure the skills you need next. (Not just to share content, engage people, or experience learning.) Brevity. Simplification. Better User Engagement.
  8. Social media enables people to become more informed, gain a wider perspective and make better decisions by engaging with others. Technology allows us to stay connected to everyone we know We are able to manage a greater number of friends and interactions with others Technology, such as texting, allows people to explore more topics Another way developments in technology have shaped interpersonal communication is expanding upon the social penetration theory, and allowing people to explore the onion model in new ways. face-to-face communication is nice, as we can see emotions and we trust, maybe more so than online, that the discussions are genuine and sincere. Technology, such as texting, allows people in a relationship to explore more topics, and once communicating face-to-face, they’re able to bring up the same topics and discuss in further detail and drill down to more core values of the topic. There is a problem that may be caused by the use of texting and Facebook chat, and that is the speed of which questions are asked and topics are changed. Being able to fire off question after question is great for trying to learn a lot of different things about a person, but there may never be deep conversations about most of the topics because there are limitations to technology, such as an SMS message only allowing 160 characters. Problems occurring when using various methods of technology to communicate with the same person is the ways one uses a particular method over the other. Face-to-face communication may be the only time serious topics are discussed, or when trying to fix relational problems. Because of advancements in communication technology, humans communicating through electronic devices has become one of the main ways that people speak to each other. The expansion of social networking sites makes it possible for people all over the world to connect at the touch of a button. Text messages and instant messaging allow friends to communicate within seconds and the invention of video calling through programs such as Skype allow people thousands of miles away to communicate easily.
