Memoirs Of Yoroido
In the exposition of the novel Memoirs of a Geisha, a girl named Chiyo grew up in a little town called
Yoroido and got sold to be a geisha. Chiyo lives with her sick mother, father, and her big sister Satsu.
Chiyo was born with an unusual pair of translucent gray eyes, just like her mother. Somewhere in her
life in Yoroido, she met a person that would change her life forever, his name was Mr. Tanaka Ichiro.
The day when she met Mr. Tanaka Ichiro, Chiyo fell on the ground, lips bleeding, he tended her lips
and called her beautiful, when he said it to Chiyo, she could almost believe it was true. Afterwards,
Chiyo got sold to an okiya, a place where geishas live. In the okiya, there is Granny, an old women

One day, Chiyo was on an errand again and when the Chairman saw how Chiyo was depressed he
gave her a handkerchief and inside was money for a cup of shaved ice. From that moment on she
wanted to be a geisha, to meet this man once more. Chiyo kept the handkerchief in the memories of
the Chairman. Mameha visits the okiya and Mameha tells Mother that she wants to make Chiyo her
younger sister and Mameha makes a bet, if Chiyo manages to repay all her debts by the time she s
twenty, Mother will pay Mameha double everything Chiyo made. But if Chiyo fails, Mameha will
make nothing. At last, the time came when Chiyo prepares for her debut as a geisha. Chiyo and
Mameha perform a ceremony to bind them as sisters. With the ceremony, Chiyo is given a new name:
Sayuri. Even though Chiyo successfully became an apprentice geisha, Hatsumomo began to appear
everywhere Sayuri does and crashes the party. Mameha introduces Sayuri to Nobu and Chairman. At
last, Chiyo meets the Chairman again Sayuri is so nervous to again be in the presence Chairman that
she pours tea from an empty pot. Sayuri continues to entertain Nobu and the Chairman and one
evening, Nobu gives Sayuri a gift of an antique hair comb and develop feelings with Sayuri. Mameha

Houdini s Legacy
Achieving the dream
Imagine a world with no one to help, everyone is only looking to better themselves. After a big
hurricane of the coast of New Orleans in 2005, the town was a disaster. With nobody to come to the
rescue it was everyone for themselves. This hurricane was hurricane Katrina and it was a category
three hurricane. It devastated the state of Louisiana and was a vicious storm. Over 80% of the large
roads and major areas were flooded by this storm. This lasted for weeks and the outcome was not only
horrible to think about but horrible to witness.
In 2005 during the coastal hurricane season there were many hurricanes. People were prepared for
small hurricanes and small wind. Although as it be, not even Houdini could have predicted ... Show

they have the ability to bring a community together. New Orleans went from a city torn by Hurricane
Katrina, with no hope and a split community, to one that has hosted a super bowl and an all star game.
This was all a gift from Drew and the BreesDream foundation. When Drew arrived with his charity in
New Orleans, the city was back on it s feet and up and running. They were still split until Drew led the
Saints to their first ever super bowl win. But his work on the field only shows a fraction of his

Orc Descriptive Writing
As the result of a blunt force impacting my head, most like due a rock, I slowly regained my
consciousness. My vision was blurry. Hearing some indecipherable speech around me, I try to move
around, only to feel a tight binding of rope on my wrists and ankles. Moving around was not an
option. As my eyesight stabilized and senses regained, I realized that I had been hanging on a wooden
cylinder upside down. As stiff as my body was, I moved my head around, trying to grasp my current
location and situation.
3 foot tall, bulky, grotesque creatures surrounded me. Their facial features resembled that of a pig,
though much more ugly. Fat covered bodies only covered by a dirtied loincloth. Each of them wielded
various weapons, although the most common seemed to be a wooden spear with a metal tip. If my ...

This one was different from the others. Its figures was roughly half the size of the common Orc, but
instead of the amounts of fat that could be seen clearly (too clearly) in the rest, toned and defined
muscles were present. Grey skin was pigmented instead of the usual murky pink. As a sign of its
prestige, it donned leather armor covered by a rugged white cloak along with what seemed to be a
staff. It was clearly the dominant one out of the herd. However, despite that, it still had the same
repulsive face as the rest. I classified this one as a [High Orc].
Holding up its staff, it started a chant with a weird rhythm, and soon after the rest followed soon after.
Two Orcs carried me from my original position and took me towards the altar. After tying me to the
altar with another piece of rope, this time slightly thicker than the ones used for my hands and legs,
they returned to their original position and continued chanting with the rest. From my current
inference, it was safe to say that what was occurring was a ritual, and I was the

Oakland County Cafr Analysis
RUNNING HEAD: OAKLAND COUNTY: A LESSON IN FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY Oakland
County: A Lesson in Fiscal Responsibility Percola Brooks Davenport University Nonprofit
Accounting Accounting 742 Prof. Linda Pitsch April 15, 2011 Abstract Oakland County is one of the
more prosperous counties in the State of Michigan. While it has suffered along with other counties, it
continues to balance its budget and successfully reduce its expenditures in response to the constricting
financial environment engulfing many parts of the country. County officials have developed a
proactive strategy in dealing with revenue shortfall, and increasing retiree and employee benefit costs.
Long range planning initiatives, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The efficiency of the County s financial management have allowed it to maintain the AAA bond
rating, which allows borrowing at the lowest possible interest rate. This saves the County millions in
future borrowing costs. Government Structure The General Fund is Oakland County s principal
operating fund. It has increased by a total of $40.2 million since 2001. This increase can be primarily
attributed to County officials efforts to limit spending, and require internal service funds to absorb rate
increases instead of passing that cost on to the General Fund. Issuance of debt is also limited. While
the County has authority to issue up to $5.8 billion in debt (10% of its State Equalized Value), the
actual outstanding debt is $809.9 million which represents 14% of the permissible amount. Other
types of funds are used in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Special revenue funds record activities funded by restricted monies such as Public Health, Friend of
the Court, and all grant funded activities. Debt Service Funds record transactions related to assessment
of tax levies and payment of principal and interest of long tern debt. Capital project funds account for
the purchase or construction of major facilities such as buildings, drains, and sewer projects.

Dog Park Building
I firmly support the building of a public dog park in the residential area in the city of Muscatine, Iowa.
Apartment buildings have very little yard space, which leaves the only exercise alternative a daily
walk in the neighborhood. I have lived in cities that have ordinances with no dogs aloud off leash in
public areas, it makes exercising dogs properly very difficult. My dog used to go crazy when I couldn
t get her the proper exercise after being cooped up all day.
Exercise is very important to dog s mental and physical health. Being socialized around other dogs is
important for proper behavioral issues to avoid attacking a strange dog or a person. New York City
reports the use of off leash dog parks lowered the dog bite incidents from 40,000 to fewer than 4,000
per year. Those numbers show over 90% decrease in reported incidents, making safety an added bonus
for the neighborhood residents as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
animal shelters house 2 million pet dogs due to bad behavior, and the dogs being lonely or poorly
exercised is partly responsible for these numbers. I used to go to the local shelters and visit all the
dogs abandoned or mistreated because of these reasons. Pet owners would be less likely to let their
dogs loose in empty lots or city parks to exercise. Everyone in the community would benefit with
higher property values, as statistics show that 37% of Americans who own dogs usually look for a
place to live with a dog park close by.
I agree that a dog park would benefit all, I think the city should vote to build a dog park

Profit and Loss Statement Paper
Before beginning, it should be noted that although this project is to be for a Profit and Loss (P L)
Statement, only an Income Statement is available at the Kudler Fine Foods website (Apollo Group,
2011). However, Income Statements and P L Statements are, for all intents and purposes, the same
thing.
With that said, it cannot be determined conclusively by reading the Income Statement for Kudler Fine
Foods if the report is monthly, quarterly or yearly or if the reports are constructed on a different fiscal
schedule. The date at the top, however, reads For the Year Ended December 31, 2003 . ... Show more

Now it is important to account for any other, miscellaneous income, such sales of assets and interest
on money in savings.
For Kudler Fine Foods, this amount is $7,845 (Apollo Group, 2011) and will be added to the income
of the company to reach a final, Net Income of $676,795.00(Apollo Group, 2011).
Conclusion
Kudler Fine Foods, though fictitious, is doing very well for itself even when compared to a large
supermarket chain like Walmart. When dividing the Net Income of Kudler Fine Foods, $676,795.00,
by the company s Net Sales $10,796,200.00, we get a before tax profit margin of 6.268%. This means
that Kudler Fine Foods has almost double the pre tax profit margin than Walmart s post tax profit
margin of 3.515% (Ycharts, 2012). This means that unless the yearly taxes due for Kudler Fine Foods
is about 50%, they will likely have higher profit margins than Walmart. That is pretty good for a
fictitious company...

The Role Of Children In The 1800s
The way children grow up and are treated by their parents has changed immensely from the 18 and
1900s. Adult perspective of children has also changed. Children are no longer viewed as property, but
an actual human being who has choices. New laws and organizations have outlawed and forbid certain
acts against children. In the United States, if one is under the age of 18 years old they are considered a
child. There is a vast difference between how children were treated in the 1800s and in today s
society; whether it s child abuse or child labor, how children are raised has changed for the better. It is
obvious that a majority of children s lifestyles growing up are immensely different in today s society
compared to the 1800s. Back then, children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previously, education was reserved for the wealthy. There were also a few smaller schools for parents
who chose to send their kids. For example, Huck Finn was not required to attend school, but chose to
partly because his dad did not want him to. Although, as the 1900s came closer, more public schools
were becoming more numerous and states were beginning to require school attendance. By 1920, all
of the states required students from ages 8 to 14 to attend school for part of the year. These schools
were one roomed school houses with classes ranging in all ages. Kids walked to school everyday,
most walked around four to five miles round trip. Students learned with limited school supplies,
sometimes only a slate, chalk, and a few educational books. School discipline, however, could be
rather strict. Teachers were allowed to smack kids with rulers and other objects. Another difference
from today s schooling is the lunches. There was no such thing as a school lunch program, so students
usually carried their lunch to school in metal

3.3.3.1. Self context perspective:
History has witnessed where women were considered to be mere dependent individuals who does not
have their own self and life as their faith before marriage was considered to be tied to their father and
after marriage with their husband. That is why a widow s life was considered as a burden on earth.
Being a girl, none was motivated for education, no platform was built to set their career. But there are
instances where history has also seen women in some of the powerful positions. As mentioned in the
earlier chapter, while Jatra step down to Assam from Bengal, the women at that point had the only
option to appreciate as a spectator from far off. The role of women was played by men itself and this
continued for a long. By then came the theatre moment in Assam where women s participation could
not be considered so effortlessly. But later with the passage of time finally the presence of women can
be marked both in Jatra and other forms of theatre. Girls would dress in different attires to represent
mythological characters in Jatra. Young girls would love to dress up with heavy make up and with
great zeal and excitement, to perform their respective roles. People from nearby and far off villages
would come to watch their performances. The loud applause of audiences give them immense
motivation to carry on and especially being a woman to receive appreciation for their work

Rise Of Japanese Imperialism
Japan, one of the great powers of the world, which just 200 years ago, was an undeveloped nation

Classical Archaeology Exam Essay
Throughout history seemingly unrelated objects or ideas can be brought together and connected in the
most extraordinary ways. Many philosophers believe that everything in the world is connected and
intertwined in some way, shape, or form. These principles can be applied to many subjects including
archaeology. The scene of Ajax on the Francois krater can be linked to Polyklietos s Doryphoros by
applying them both to the fundamentals of evolution.
Both pieces are a major turning point in art for Greece. They took the best parts of their predecessor s
pieces and furthered them, like evolution. The Doryphoros completely changed the way that the
Greeks composed the body position of their sculptures. The Greeks started out creating sculptures in
the same bland form as the Egyptians, with the Korus. There are many of these sculptures, but
Polyklietos took the foundations and basic themes of the Korus and revolutionized the body position.
All he did was change the balance of the sculpture; he tilted the hips and shoulders and changed the
leg position a little. This small difference made the sculpture more lifelike and more realistic. He ...

Analysis Of Diego Rivera s Man At The Crossroads
The ever so common breach of artist freedom was brought to life in 1934 when Diego Rivera s
commissioned painting, Man at the Crossroads, was destroyed for its controversial content. This piece,
originally commissioned by the Rockefellers to place on the ground floor of Rockefeller Center,
representing hope and a new future. Rivera s depiction of this began with painting a man controlling a
machine at the center of the mural, surrounded by what Rivera called elongated ellipses that were
filled alternately with cell patterns and cosmological explosions (qtd. In Social History of the United
States 325). Within his first few weeks of painting the mural, the New York World Telegram called the
mural anti capitalist propaganda . After Rivera saw this article he was outraged,he sent his assistant to

haywire and the Rockefellers tried to get Rivera to remove Lenin. When he wouldn t they fired him
and left the painting incomplete until it was destroyed by workers in 1934.
Although Rivera s addition of Lenin was unexpected and spontaneous it wasn t out of character.

Fighting the War on Terrorism Essay
It has been said that the easiest way to discredit someone in the political field is to accuse them of
possessing Machiavellian morals. Until recently, today s political arena has been consumed by such
illusive and controversial topics as human rights and the environment. Thus, it is easy to see why
being referred to as a disciple of the austere Machiavellian principle could result in the untimely death
of a political career. However, as of September 11th, the times have changed and so should the

The logical, scientific, methodology behind his theories allows for concise, clear cut approaches in
management of state affairs. His infamous book on statecraft entitled, The Prince , is the embodiment
of Machiavellianism. This philosophy is centered on two main tenets. Primarily, that political order is
equivocal but entirely separate from any other known good including morality. Politics has and should
have it own rules and should not accept of any kind from any source where the object is not to win or

methodological dependence on theology, metaphysics, and moral philosophy (Parel, 5). All
extemporaneous theories and ideals not associated specifically with the perfection of political

Secondly, Machiavelli asserts that One successfully governs by force and not by law (Machiavelli).
This is not to say that prudency should not also be simultaneously practiced. However, given the

In the paper titled Factory Farming: The Truth about the Poultry Industry by Jessica Stopa, she
informs readers about the malpractices of chicken livestock in the food industry in comparison to how
traditional agriculture practices were previously before the industrialization age. Her paper was
intended to speak to American food consumers and bring to light or inform about the severity of
industrialized farming practices. The writing was prompted by one of Ms. Stopa s english classes and
the intention of this work is to rhetorically analyze her credentials. She incorporates a heavy amount
of logos into her work to backup her own logic, but also includes bits of pathos about the treatment of
chicken and ethos by referring a figure who operates a local farm. Stopa strategically begins her first
few paragraphs with multiple entries of logos to present the strength of her point. Each transition is
crafted in chronological order of how an industrial chicken farm operates, including how the poultry

The Pros And Cons Of Geographic Profiling

offender and victim (Rossmo, 2012). The traditional investigative methods employed to solve serial

was 17 and James was 27 years old when they were married. They had two daughters and one son
(Kane 40). After the marriage and the children, Monroe quickly got back to his political views and
doings. He was bored of his law practice and wanted a challenge. James served on the 170 member
Virginia Ratifying Convention that decided the fate of the Constitution (Stefoff 35). In the fall of
1788, Monroe ran for Congress, but his friend and foe, James Madison, defeated him. Monroe did not
give up, although he was disappointed about the loss, he later ran for U.S. Senate against an old friend
John Marshall in 1790 and came home with a victory (Stefoff 37). Monroe was divided by politics.

Analysis Of The Powwow At The End Of The World
The Powwow at the End of the World by Sherman Alexie appears to be a modern free verse poem
with varying line length and no end rhyme. It is actually a ceremony to preserve and restore the Native
American land and way of life. The repetition of the beginning of the lines and the strong rhythm
suggest the drumbeat and dance of the apocalyptic powwow, or communal dance of Indians at the end
of the world when all will be put right again. The speaker is an Indian answering the demand for
forgiveness by the audience, who imply the Indians should forget four centuries of the atrocities
committed by European settlers. He speaks in authoritative chant like native rhetoric as though he can
actually do what he says, like a medicine man. The poem in a few lines undoes the effects of modern
civilization, destroying dams and allowing the waters to flow and the salmon to return.
A modern reader might assume that this is wishful thinking, a way to deal psychologically with the
Native American situation in a metaphorical Armageddon, or that the poem is an elaborate putdown
because the conditions for forgiveness will obviously not be met. Instead, it can be read as a ceremony
to make something happen. Native American writers often use traditional ceremony as the basic model
of their poems; that is, the type of speech that enacts something rather than describing or persuading.
Indian tribal ceremonies use formal structures of incantation, song, dance, prayer, visual symbol, and
gesture to restore wholeness to the land and community. The ancient oral traditions of most indigenous
cultures had the purpose to integrate the people with the cosmic forces. Ceremonies were meant to
produce specific results, such as rain or healing, and language was a primary tool. Alexie is using
language to resurrect the dead Indians and their culture at a powwow at the end of the world. If one
understands the ancient use of language, the poem yields a holistic reading of something he wants to
happen now, not later.
The poem says the speaker will only forgive when all the destruction of the land and Indians has been
removed, but he does not wait for the government or for the end of the world. He topples the Grand
Coulee Dam and nuclear reactors

Determine the acceleration due to gravity using a simple pendulum
Objective
The objective of this practical is to determine acceleration due to gravity g using the simple pendulum
model. This is shown when a period of oscillation is seen to be independent of the mass of the mass m
.
Theory
A simple pendulum consists of a mass that is attached to a string of length L that is fixed to a point, in
this case, a cork suspended by a clamp stand. This allows the mass to be suspended vertically
downwards and allows it to be displayed at an angle that it swings. A period T of oscillation is the time
required for one complete swing. For this to happen ideally its mass must swing from an angle that is

(Eg. 13.26/10 = 1.326)
Step 7: Now square each T value to make T^2 (Eg. 1.3262 = 1.758)
Step 8: We can now plot our values into the rearranged equation to figure out acceleration due to
gravity g . (Eg. (4π2 x 43.70)/ 1.758 = 981.4 cm/s2)
Step 9: Because we measured the lengths in centimeters rather than meters, we need to calculate are g
value into m/s2 so we can compare it to the SI unit for acceleration due to gravity. (Eg. 981.4/100 =
9.81 m/s2)
Step 10: Draw a scatter plot of T2 on the Y axis against L on the X axis.

The line of best fit is used to find the gradient, the T2/L value, if straight or linear it shows that the
relationship between the two is directly proportional. Using the original equation, you can square both
sides and rearrange it to make . Then you can input the gradient value (T2/L) and work out g. , where

The American Of Canadian Foreign Relations
Over the course of history Canada has engaged in social, political, economic and cultural relations
with various countries. Managing relationships and foreign policy are key elements in Canadian
foreign policy. These relationships and policies have taken many different shapes and forms as
expected, and thus, the history of Canadian foreign relations is a significant part of Canada s identity
as a nation today. In particular, one aspect that is often analyzed on this topic is the how the Americans
failed to conquer Canada. One can only imagine how different Canada would be if certain battles
favoured the Americans. It is evident, that the Americans failure to conquer Canada was a result of
poor war tactics and military conduct at crucial points in time. The Americans were not fully prepared
to conquer Canada as a whole, and underestimated the Canadians in terms of their war capabilities,
loyalty and readiness for war. The Americans also naively believed they could take advantage and
attack the British during the American Revolution.
An important period to consider is 1775 1783 where crucial battles and victories emerged for Canada
against the Americans. In December of 1975, the Americans decided to attack Quebec, what is known
and referred to as the Battle of Quebec in the American Revolutionary War. The purpose or motive of
the invasion was to incorporate Quebec into the thirteen colonies. This would ultimately prove to be a
failure for the Americans, which is discussed

than grades and with grades come ranking and with ranking comes competition and with competition

Reading On Reading Disabilities And Dyslexia
Everyone faces day to day challenges that can limit him or her in many different ways. Some struggles
are easier to overcome than others, especially if the struggle is concentrated in one particular area. Yet,
those who struggle with reading disabilities in general, including dyslexia may not have the easiest
time overcoming it. Not being able to read may lead to other issues with spelling, grammar, and
general comprehension of material. This literature review will be covering many previous done studies
that focus on reading disabilities and dyslexia. Through examining this literature it should give some
answer to my overall thesis, which is how is dyslexia connected to reading disabilities and what can
be done to help those who are struggling.
Reading Disabilities One of the first questions that should be answered is what is the definition of a
reading disability. One of the books shares the following; A reading disability exists where there is a
significant discrepancy between reading ability and intellectual potential (Roswell and Natchez 1964:
2). This is not the only definition and has been shared that, The lack of specificity in the definition of
learning disability has created considerable confusion [...] (Cornwall and Bawden 1992: 281).
Knowing that not one definition fits this topic can help better understand how each piece of literature
varies. How one is able to evaluate if someone has a reading disability is important in aiding what help

Duality In Cannery Row
Cannery Row: A Literary Excavation on Duality Cannery Row is a town located in Monterey,
California. Despite being small, dirty and crowded, it is a well functioned town and is home to people
from different walks of life. In the novel s prologue, John Steinbeck wrote the following: Its
inhabitants are, as one man once said, whores, pimps, gamblers, and sons of bitches by which he
meant Everybody and [have] the man looked through another peephole he might have said: Saints and
angels and martyrs and holy men, and he would have meant the same thing (Steinbeck 1). He basically
comments that the difference in viewpoints given the same event results from the power of perspective
and duality observed in people. One might see Cannery Row as a low down place while the others
might see Cannery Row as a lively, vigorous town. One would see a character s actions disputable
while the others would see their behaviors admirable. The viewpoints of the readers and the way
characters behave at various times explain the fact that Cannery Row and its inhabitants possess
qualities crossing good and evil.
Cannery Row begins with the character Lee Chong, a small grocery owner that supplies the town. Lee
was depicted as a kind and generous man, and his good nature was reflected through his appearance
and personality. Steinbeck states that [his] mouth was full and benevolent and the flash of gold when
he smiled was rich and warm (Steinbeck 7). This simple passage gives us a clear first

with her own image in a pool of water, beckoning the phantom forth, and as it declined to venture

Perceiving a flock of beach birds that fed and fluttered along the shore, the naughty child picked up

Managing innovation effectively can turn companies around dramatically, allowing companies to be
ahead of its competitors. Introducing new technologies and products will help businesses attract
customers and provide a unique selling point. It can also help cut costs along with raising profits.
Effective innovation allows for new opportunities and may lead companies getting a larger market
share and may even break companies into new markets. Good innovation can also increase employee
motivation and moral creating an efficient working environment.
However having a good idea doesn t mean a company is innovative, making the idea work effectively
so that it brings value to the business is successful innovation. Furthermore innovation can also
propose risks and if not carefully executed innovation may harm the business. New ideas need to be
carefully executed after in depth research, if this is not done correctly a new idea is likely to fail
incurring unnecessary costs and falling profits. It may also result in competitors taking advantage of a
failed idea making a business vulnerable losing its clients as they may begin to look elsewhere.
Ultimately innovation is very important it is a strategy that needs to be implemented with a lot of
thought and analysis.

What Is No Impact Man Essay
No Impact Man Essay No Impact Man was about a man who took his family on a year long journey of
reducing their environmental impact to nearly nothing. To do this he did five major things, he started
eating locally, stopped producing carbon emissions, stopped polluting the air and water, limited his
throw away waste, and stopped excessively consuming goods. No Impact Man started eating locally.
He did this to stop contributing to over exploitation of food resources. He ate food that only grew
close to him, and he went to many of the places where his food was grown and looked at how they
were farming. He also had a compost bin in his kitchen for food waste. I think we could all buy some
of our food locally, going to the places it is grown may not be something everyone is interested in
doing, but we can all support our local farmers market. I also don t think it is feasible for everyone to

Furthermore, Buddhism was founded in the late 6th century B.C.E. by a man named Siddhartha

Chapter one is entitled Failing to Forget the Drunken Pirate. This chapter starts off giving examples of
real people that have professional jobs that posted something online that later on came back and

university officials claimed her behavior was unbecoming. Although her page was private, it was still
easy for the officials to find this one image that ruined Stacey s career. In this chapter it is stressed
how easy it is to find information on anyone. Google actually keeps individual records of people s
search history, web pages browsed, and keywords that they often search. Google used to keep these
records forever, but as of recently that changed and they are only kept for a short period of time. Also

Girls who are raped at a young age suffer from physical abuse towards themselves. Self mischief isn t
a notice sign for suicide, yet it can be an indication that somebody has survived a serious injury. They
may attempt to numb the torment, feel a discharge, or recapture a feeling of control. Shockingly, this
help is brief, and the desire to self mischief can return, empowering a cycle of self abuse that might
bring about harm, disease, and now and then life debilitating medicinal issues. Statutory rape also
leaves the victim with long term psychological and physical damage, [which again includes] sexually
transmitted diseases and the inability to bear children (3). If a woman feels that she wants control back
over her life she will eventually do something out of hand. She will try to hurt herself or look for
comfort. Some women don t make it that far in finding comfort because they block the world off. The
minors that have been abused and assaulted may even commit suicide or attempt it. At the point when
the physical danger is in control, the ability to escape is something they can t stop, women authorize a
characteristic instinct for survival. This includes the body summoning an enormous amount of energy
to battle or escape short circuits. These short circuits flow through a woman s body. This can bring
about stun, separation and numerous different sorts of automatic reactions while the abuse is
happening. Many individuals who experience traumatic occasions might find that it can require some
investment to re conform and adapt for a period after the occasion. The remaining mental, physical
and profound impacts of rape and assault can have an affect for the day by day lives of survivors,
which make it hard to mend. For a few, there are extreme impacts in the quick repercussions of an
attack that could or could not last. For others, the impacts of rape and assault come in waves and are

these findings indicates that our results are robust whether RDI is un weighted or weighted. Finally,

steps: estimates MLG instrumental values in first step, estimates the covariance matrix for MLG
instrumental values based on the residuals in second step and finally, performs GLS regression based
on covariance matrix (Dennis Taisier, 2014; Mollaha Zamanb, 2015). Therefore, the model to be

The Reader s Connection to Santiago
In Paulo Coelho s novel, The Alchemist, the main character is the thoughtful, adventurous boy named
Santiago, a poor Spanish shepard. The story starts when he reaches a fork in the road where he is
directed to his Personal Legend, seeking treasure at the Great Pyramids, . After many years of
wandering through the countryside with his faithful sheep, he chooses to walk away from this quiet
lifestyle. Santiago endures challenges, but he becomes a hero and grow wiser. As the reader follows
his story, they pull towards him and relates to him throughout moments in the book.
First, the reader pities and empathizes with Santiago as he suffers losses and adversities. After the
King of Salem motivates him to find his Personal Legend, he takes a boat to Africa where he is
swindled of his money by a older boy. Santiago is in a different country, a strange land, here he couldn

During his journey, he discovers the Soul of the World, a universal, spiritual language and force
between everything in the world. Near the end of the book, Santiago is tested on turning himself to
wind in three days time or stand the chance of death while traveling through the desert. He speaks to
the sun, I know the Soul of the World, because we have talked at great lengths to each other during
this endless trip though the universe (150). The sun and the wind is unable to turn him into wind and
cannot understand him. Though the winds know everything and nature knows (the sun) as the wisest
being in creation (152), Santiago is wiser than them. A moment when I felt clarity was when I realized
that adults did not always do the right thing. When the reader reads the book, they understand
becoming mature and learning to deeply understand something; the read feel a sense of pride for

Ride-Sharing Controversy
In recent months, there has been controversy surrounding the fairly new and popular concept of ride
sharing companies . Primarily, ride sharing companies are online based networks that connect
passengers with drivers that use their personal vehicles through a mobile platform. Some of the most
popular ride sharing companies include the well known Uber, Lyft, and Wingz s. The packleader of
them all, Uber, has recently been challenged by the government, taxi companies, and their own drivers
over legal matters. They have been accused of bending around labor laws and disregarding regulations
around transportation for hire industry in many of the large US cities where they are present. In mid
2015, Uber has been involved in at least 173 different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ridesharing companies claims that with their programs such as Uberpool and Lyft Line, it can actually
be beneficial for the environment. As the name implies, Uberpool is a carpooling method based on
splitting fares with people going to the same place as you. It s environmentally efficient by having less
cars on the road because it reduces single rider fares, resulting in less harmfull emissions (Uber).
According to Amanda Eaken, a director of transportation and climate at the National Resource
Defense Council, 40 percent of emissions in California is from transportation. Additionally, along with
the main ideas from A Struggle to Govern the Commons, more emissions raise the atmospheric
concentrations of CO2, a known greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. So with this,
UberPool and Lyft Line may actually make an effect on helping the environment. However there are
limitations to this, it is not currently based by any research, just a theoretical hypothesis. Fortunately,
some scientific research is on the way. Eaken, along with Professor Susan Shaheen from UC Berkeley
s Transportation Sustainability Research Center, is creating a scientific study on the true
environmental effects of ridesharing companies. They will compile research from data directly from

Franklin D Roosevelt Argumentative Essay
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States and ended up serving 12 years
from 1933 until his death in 1945. He was born on January 30, 1882 in the state of New York as the
only child of the marriage between James Roosevelt, 54, and Sara Delano Roosevelt, 22 (Pearce, 2).
His mother was extremely protective of her only child, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt received no
formal education until he was age 14 (Pearce, 6) when he attended the Groton School (Pearce, 15),
which was a boarding school for boys of well off families who were being set up to go off to elite
colleges such as Harvard, where Franklin Delano Roosevelt would ultimately attend college (Pearce,
38). In college, he showed an initiative which would eventually ... Show more content on

His fifth cousin, Theodore Roosevelt, was the president of the United States while Roosevelt was in
Harvard and was a major hero of Franklin. Franklin Delano would eventually marry Theodore s niece,
Eleanor, who was walked down the aisle by Theodore (Pearce, 55). Roosevelt would also briefly
attend Columbia University law school and go on to be a lawyer, a career which did not particularly
interest nor appeal to him (Franklin D. Roosevelt: Life before the Presidency). He would enter politics
as a Democrat in New York, but as a state senator, he often went against the Democratic establishment
of Tammany Hall and pushed for Progressive reforms. He would continue in New York politics, and
when the Great Depression struck in 1929, Roosevelt was the governor of New York. (Franklin D.
Roosevelt: Life Before the Presidency). He would first try to help New York through the crisis before
moving to try and help the nation by going against Republican incumbent Herbert Hoover in the
election of 1932. Although Roosevelt won all four elections against all four Republican candidates he
ran against, this election was most likely one of the easiest, as Herbert Hoover was extremely
unpopular; Roosevelt won the Electoral College 472:59 and the popular vote

Open-Carry Case Study
The 2015 Texas legislature passed a bill to allow concealed handgun permit holders to begin carrying
their handguns openly. You do not have to conceal your gun like you did in the past. The bill was
signed into law on June 13, 2015, and was effect as of January 1, 2016. Handguns should be carried in
a hip or shoulder holster when out in the open now. Businesses can in fact say no to guns on their
sites, areas that were considered gun free zones before this bill took effect remain gun free zones
today. If businesses decide to ban guns they have to post signs to let their customers know. Some of
the businesses in Texas (and other states) that are banning open carry include Whataburger, H E B,
Whole Foods, Randall s Food Markets, Torchy s Tacos, Jimmy Changas and Gringo s Mexican
Kitchen. Ariana P Habich/shutterstock.com. www.keranews.org
Also, I work at a Texas Roadhouse and there is a sign that reads No open carry allowed at the front
door entrance but when I did some research online I did not find anything about any other Texas
Roadhouse banning open carry, nor do I recall any of my managers asking someone to leave because
they had an open carry firearm. Concluding from my research, I did not find any problems on open
carry in any of the states that were already open carry before Texas joined. ... Show more content on

Loan Portfolio Management
Loan Portfolio Management
Introduction
Background:
L ending is the principal business activity for most commercial banks. The loan portfolio is typically
the largest asset and the predominate source of revenue. As such, it is one of the greatest sources of
risk to a bank s safety and soundness. Whether due to lax credit standards, poor portfolio risk
management, or weakness in the economy, loan portfolio problems have historically been the major
cause of bank losses and failures.
Effective management of the loan portfolio and the credit function is fundamental to a bank s safety
and soundness. Loan portfolio management (LPM) is the process by which risks that are inherent in
the credit process are managed and controlled. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An unregulated banking financial institution might be fraud with unmanageable risks for the purpose
of maximizing its potential return. In such a situation, the banking financial institutions might find
itself in a serious financial distress instead of improving its financial health. Consequently, not only
the depositors but also the shareholders will be deprived of getting back their money from the bank.
The deterioration of loan quality also affects the intermediative efficiency of the financial institutions
and thus the economic growth process of the country. This the reason for which the banking financial
institutions are being regulated in all countries. The banking financial institutions are also the most
regulated among all types of financial institutions in all countries, because of their substantial role in
payment mechanism (in addition to protect the loan portfolio from decaying).
Portfolio management is crucial for commercial banks, be it in developed or developing countries.
Mere accumulation of deposits gives rise to entries both in liabilities and assets sides of the balance
sheets. So, portfolio management involves in both liability and assets of commercial banks. If deposits
of a bank grow at a steady rate and if loan demands can be met from deposit growth, the bank will
have no problem of liquidity. In real life, deposits do not grow steadily all the time, nor does loan
demand grow in keeping with growth in deposits.

The Case Study of Singapore Students Attending the UK MBA...
The impact of tablet computers on the behaviour and lifestyle of the modern day consumer
The case of the Singapore students attending the UK MBA Program
1. Introduction and background
1.1. Setting the context The modern day society is evolving at a rapid pace, with this fast rhythm of
development being forced by the advancement of technology. In this particular setting, technologic
innovations impact every aspect of life, from the completion of the small leisure chores, to the very
possibility of saving our lives. Technologic innovation is as such the force driving advancement and
evolution, and this is obvious at multiple levels. One specific technologic innovation which is
becoming more and more present in the lives of the modern day individuals is represented by the
tablet computer, with the most popular representatives of this category being the Apple iPad and the
Google Android tablet. The tablet computers are characterized by increased portability, meaning that
they eliminate the barriers of being obliged to manage information from the desk in the home or the
office. The tablet computers are easy to use; they integrate a multitude of features and they support
communication outside wired technology. These new devices are becoming more and more present in
the lives of the young adults everywhere, including the students in Singapore. In this setting, the future
research project would set out to assess the means in which the tablet computers impact the

Summary Of The TV Show Stranger Things
This article discusses the TV show Stranger Things by intertwining the idea of childhood freedom
within it. The show portrays a bunch of kids biking around town unsupervised and solving mysteries
and saving the town. The author, Anna North, then uses this notion to discuss how nowadays the idea
of unstructured childhood is almost nonexistent and that parents are involved in everything due to cell
phones, fear of child molesters and a move towards more parental involvement. North also gives two
other examples, The Chronicles of Narnia and Muppet Babies , where the parents are absent and the
kids got to run wild and involve themselves in mysterious/fun activities. This given freedom gave the
children a chance to explore their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is like a walk down memory lane when the author describes how children were allowed to roam
around everywhere in the 1980 s. The diction used in this article clearly shows two opposing sides a
controlling side and a carefree side. The controlling side is brought into light when the author used
phrases like helicopter parent . And the carefree side is seen when North uses phrases such as
unsupervised , permissive and unstructured . This article is very well written as it is infused with both
fact and fictional details and evidence.
The content of this article was refreshing to read. I agree with the concept of it but disagree with the
details. In the the seventh paragraph North points out that unstructured childhood seems less possible
due to all the cell phones and the fear of child molesters. This was a very weak argument and one that
wasn t researched very well. Cell phones have nothing to do with more structured parenting in fact
they give children more freedom since parents can now reach their children wherever they are and
check in on them. The fear of child molesters is very downplayed in this article. This article in a sense
completely romanticized the 1980 s. The number of child molestations that occurred during the 80 s is
almost 15% higher than it does now. This is most likely due to the fact that kids in the 80 s were
allowed to go places without parental supervision which usually led to dangerous circumstances. The
point I m trying to make is that parents became more involved in their children s daily activity not
because they want to but because they have to. The world is not a safe place for children to grow and
experience on their

The Absent Rainbow in Silicon Valley
Minorities in America are the fastest growing consumers of technology, ranging from smartphones to
social media, But not only are the absent from having any input on how these products are being
created and developed, it is even more difficult to gain entry into. At the heart of the question is how
to develop tech communities of people who don t just consume media, but who create it and can then
use it to solve problems in their communities. While it is apparent that the population of minorities in
Silicon Valley is low, it is difficult to uncover the explanations for these depressing demographics.
There are two categories of intersecting obstacles for minorities wanting to get a foothold in the
technology markets. There is a deficiency in access to technology and computer science educational
programs, and there is a lack of venture capital available to minorities. These two factors create a
deficit of collective capital required for potential minority entrepreneurs to broker deals for
investments.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows that out of the 600,000 people working as computer and
information technology managers, 27 percent are female, 5 percent are African American and 5
percent are Latino. Although 15 percent of the American labor market is Latino and 11 percent is
African American, only 6 percent of Latinos and seven percent of African Americans employed in
America are involved in computer and mathematical jobs and occupations. These numbers illustrate
how

Chiyo lives with her sick mother, father, and her big sister Satsu. Chiyo was born with an unusual pair of translucent gray eyes, just like her mother. After a big hurricane of the coast of New Orleans in 2005, the town was a disaster. With nobody to come to the rescue it was everyone for themselves. This hurricane was hurricane Katrina and it was a category three hurricane. It devastated the state of Louisiana and was a vicious storm. Over 80% of the large roads and major areas were flooded by this storm. This lasted for weeks and the outcome was not only horrible to think about but horrible to witness. In 2005 during the coastal hurricane season there were many hurricanes. People were prepared for small hurricanes and small wind. Although as it be, not even Houdini could have predicted ... New Orleans went from a city torn by Hurricane Katrina, with no hope and a split community, to one that has hosted a super bowl and an all star game. This was all a gift from Drew and the BreesDream foundation. When Drew arrived with his charity in New Orleans, the city was back on it s feet and up and running. They were still split until Drew led the Saints to their first ever super bowl win. But his work on the field only shows a fraction of his greatness. He is such a considerate and helpful person and he always helps whoever is in need. Hearing some indecipherable speech around me, I try to move around, only to feel a tight binding of rope on my wrists and ankles. Moving around was not an option. As my eyesight stabilized and senses regained, I realized that I had been hanging on a wooden cylinder upside down. As stiff as my body was, I moved my head around, trying to grasp my current location and situation. 3 foot tall, bulky, grotesque creatures surrounded me. Their facial features resembled that of a pig, though much more ugly. Fat covered bodies only covered by a dirtied loincloth. Each of them wielded various weapons, although the most common seemed to be a wooden spear with a metal tip. If my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This one was different from the others. Its figures was roughly half the size of the common Orc, but instead of the amounts of fat that could be seen clearly (too clearly) in the rest, toned and defined muscles were present. Grey skin was pigmented instead of the usual murky pink. As a sign of its prestige, it donned leather armor covered by a rugged white cloak along with what seemed to be a staff. It was clearly the dominant one out of the herd. However, despite that, it still had the same repulsive face as the rest. I classified this one as a [High Orc]. Holding up its staff, it started a chant with a weird rhythm, and soon after the rest followed soon after. Two Orcs carried me from my original position and took me towards the altar. After tying me to the altar with another piece of rope, this time slightly thicker than the ones used for my hands and legs, they returned to their original position and continued chanting with the rest. Oakland County Cafr Analysis RUNNING HEAD: OAKLAND COUNTY: A LESSON IN FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY Oakland County: A Lesson in Fiscal Responsibility Percola Brooks Davenport University Nonprofit Accounting Accounting 742 Prof. Linda Pitsch April 15, 2011 Abstract Oakland County is one of the more prosperous counties in the State of Michigan. While it has suffered along with other counties, it continues to balance its budget and successfully reduce its expenditures in response to the constricting financial environment engulfing many parts of the country. County officials have developed a proactive strategy in dealing with revenue shortfall, and increasing retiree and employee benefit costs. Long range planning initiatives, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The efficiency of the County s financial management have allowed it to maintain the AAA bond rating, which allows borrowing at the lowest possible interest rate. This saves the County millions in future borrowing costs. Government Structure The General Fund is Oakland County s principal operating fund. It has increased by a total of $40.2 million since 2001. This increase can be primarily attributed to County officials efforts to limit spending, and require internal service funds to absorb rate increases instead of passing that cost on to the General Fund. Issuance of debt is also limited. While the County has authority to issue up to $5.8 billion in debt (10% of its State Equalized Value), the actual outstanding debt is $809.9 million which represents 14% of the permissible amount. Other types of funds are used in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Special revenue funds record activities funded by restricted monies such as Public Health, Friend of the Court, and all grant funded activities. Debt Service Funds record transactions related to assessment of tax levies and payment of principal and interest of long tern debt. • 6. Dog Park Building I firmly support the building of a public dog park in the residential area in the city of Muscatine, Iowa. Apartment buildings have very little yard space, which leaves the only exercise alternative a daily walk in the neighborhood. I have lived in cities that have ordinances with no dogs aloud off leash in public areas, it makes exercising dogs properly very difficult. My dog used to go crazy when I couldn t get her the proper exercise after being cooped up all day. Exercise is very important to dog s mental and physical health. Being socialized around other dogs is important for proper behavioral issues to avoid attacking a strange dog or a person. New York City reports the use of off leash dog parks lowered the dog bite incidents from 40,000 to fewer than 4,000 per year. Those numbers show over 90% decrease in reported incidents, making safety an added bonus for the neighborhood residents as well. ... Profit and Loss Statement Paper Justin Fondriest Professor Timothy Groves BSA/310 October 21, 2012 Profit and Loss Statement Paper Before beginning, it should be noted that although this project is to be for a Profit and Loss (P L) Statement, only an Income Statement is available at the Kudler Fine Foods website (Apollo Group, 2011). However, Income Statements and P L Statements are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing. With that said, it cannot be determined conclusively by reading the Income Statement for Kudler Fine Foods if the report is monthly, quarterly or yearly or if the reports are constructed on a different fiscal schedule. The date at the top, however, reads For the Year Ended December 31, 2003 . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now it is important to account for any other, miscellaneous income, such sales of assets and interest on money in savings. For Kudler Fine Foods, this amount is $7,845 (Apollo Group, 2011) and will be added to the income of the company to reach a final, Net Income of $676,795.00(Apollo Group, 2011). Conclusion Kudler Fine Foods, though fictitious, is doing very well for itself even when compared to a large supermarket chain like Walmart. When dividing the Net Income of Kudler Fine Foods, $676,795.00, by the company s Net Sales $10,796,200.00, we get a before tax profit margin of 6.268%. This means that Kudler Fine Foods has almost double the pre tax profit margin than Walmart s post tax profit margin of 3.515% (Ycharts, 2012). This means that unless the yearly taxes due for Kudler Fine Foods is about 50%, they will likely have higher profit margins than Walmart. That is pretty good for a fictitious company... By 1920, all of the states required students from ages 8 to 14 to attend school for part of the year. These schools were one roomed school houses with classes ranging in all ages. As mentioned in the earlier chapter, while Jatra step down to Assam from Bengal, the women at that point had the only option to appreciate as a spectator from far off. The role of women was played by men itself and this continued for a long. By then came the theatre moment in Assam where women s participation could not be considered so effortlessly. Classical Archaeology Research Paper Classical Archaeology Exam Essay Throughout history seemingly unrelated objects or ideas can be brought together and connected in the most extraordinary ways. Many philosophers believe that everything in the world is connected and intertwined in some way, shape, or form. These principles can be applied to many subjects including archaeology. The scene of Ajax on the Francois krater can be linked to Polyklietos s Doryphoros by applying them both to the fundamentals of evolution. Both pieces are a major turning point in art for Greece. They took the best parts of their predecessor s pieces and furthered them, like evolution. The Doryphoros completely changed the way that the Greeks composed the body position of their sculptures. The Greeks started out creating sculptures in the same bland form as the Egyptians, with the Korus. There are many of these sculptures, but Polyklietos took the foundations and basic themes of the Korus and revolutionized the body position. All he did was change the balance of the sculpture; he tilted the hips and shoulders and changed the leg position a little. This small difference made the sculpture more lifelike and more realistic. Analysis Of Diego Rivera s Man At The Crossroads The ever so common breach of artist freedom was brought to life in 1934 when Diego Rivera s commissioned painting, Man at the Crossroads, was destroyed for its controversial content. This piece, originally commissioned by the Rockefellers to place on the ground floor of Rockefeller Center, representing hope and a new future. Rivera s depiction of this began with painting a man controlling a machine at the center of the mural, surrounded by what Rivera called elongated ellipses that were filled alternately with cell patterns and cosmological explosions (qtd. In Social History of the United States 325). Within his first few weeks of painting the mural, the New York World Telegram called the mural anti capitalist propaganda . After Rivera saw this article he was outraged,he sent his assistant to get pictures of renown communist Vladimir Lenin quoting, If you want communism, I will paint communism (qtd. In Destroyed by Rockefellers, NPR). After this addition, the news outlets went haywire and the Rockefellers tried to get Rivera to remove Lenin. When he wouldn t they fired him and left the painting incomplete until it was destroyed by workers in 1934. Although Rivera s addition of Lenin was unexpected and spontaneous it wasn t out of character. Rivera was an outspoken member of the Mexican Communist Party in the 1920 s. Until recently, today s political arena has been consumed by such illusive and controversial topics as human rights and the environment. Thus, it is easy to see why being referred to as a disciple of the austere Machiavellian principle could result in the untimely death of a political career. However, as of September 11th, the times have changed and so should the mindset with which politicians approach such elusive topics. This tragedy was not, however, suffered in vain. Primarily, that political order is equivocal but entirely separate from any other known good including morality. Politics has and should have it own rules and should not accept of any kind from any source where the object is not to win or to prevail (Machiavelli, vii). • 19. Jessica Stopa In the paper titled Factory Farming: The Truth about the Poultry Industry by Jessica Stopa, she informs readers about the malpractices of chicken livestock in the food industry in comparison to how traditional agriculture practices were previously before the industrialization age. Her paper was intended to speak to American food consumers and bring to light or inform about the severity of industrialized farming practices. The writing was prompted by one of Ms. Stopa s english classes and the intention of this work is to rhetorically analyze her credentials. She incorporates a heavy amount of logos into her work to backup her own logic, but also includes bits of pathos about the treatment of chicken and ethos by referring a figure who operates a local farm. Stopa strategically begins her first few paragraphs with multiple entries of logos to present the strength of her point. Each transition is crafted in chronological order of how an industrial chicken farm operates, including how the poultry are manipulated and the effects on the end product. The traditional investigative methods employed to solve serial crimes is on the basis of the theoretical principle of psychology; by analyzing the cognitive processes of the offender and the role of the target rather than the nature of the situation. However, this reactive approach disregards the extent to which environmental factors are able to manipulate the offender s behavior leading up to the criminal act. This may include factors such as the shape, size, and distribution between one crime scene to another. Di Naso s team of investigators suggested the case be conducted from a geographical approach by remapping the historical context of the massacre. • 23. Analysis Of The Powwow At The End Of The World The Powwow at the End of the World by Sherman Alexie appears to be a modern free verse poem with varying line length and no end rhyme. It is actually a ceremony to preserve and restore the Native American land and way of life. The repetition of the beginning of the lines and the strong rhythm suggest the drumbeat and dance of the apocalyptic powwow, or communal dance of Indians at the end of the world when all will be put right again. The speaker is an Indian answering the demand for forgiveness by the audience, who imply the Indians should forget four centuries of the atrocities committed by European settlers. He speaks in authoritative chant like native rhetoric as though he can actually do what he says, like a medicine man. The poem in a few lines undoes the effects of modern civilization, destroying dams and allowing the waters to flow and the salmon to return. A modern reader might assume that this is wishful thinking, a way to deal psychologically with the Native American situation in a metaphorical Armageddon, or that the poem is an elaborate putdown because the conditions for forgiveness will obviously not be met. Instead, it can be read as a ceremony to make something happen. Native American writers often use traditional ceremony as the basic model of their poems; that is, the type of speech that enacts something rather than describing or persuading. Indian tribal ceremonies use formal structures of incantation, song, dance, prayer, visual symbol, and gesture to restore wholeness to the land and community. The ancient oral traditions of most indigenous cultures had the purpose to integrate the people with the cosmic forces. Ceremonies were meant to produce specific results, such as rain or healing, and language was a primary tool. Alexie is using language to resurrect the dead Indians and their culture at a powwow at the end of the world. If one understands the ancient use of language, the poem yields a holistic reading of something he wants to happen now, not later. The poem says the speaker will only forgive when all the destruction of the land and Indians has been removed, but he does not wait for the government or for the end of the world. He topples the Grand Coulee Dam and nuclear reactors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Managing relationships and foreign policy are key elements in Canadian foreign policy. These relationships and policies have taken many different shapes and forms as expected, and thus, the history of Canadian foreign relations is a significant part of Canada s identity as a nation today. In particular, one aspect that is often analyzed on this topic is the how the Americans failed to conquer Canada. One can only imagine how different Canada would be if certain battles favoured the Americans. It is evident, that the Americans failure to conquer Canada was a result of poor war tactics and military conduct at crucial points in time. The Americans were not fully prepared to conquer Canada as a whole, and underestimated the Canadians in terms of their war capabilities, loyalty and readiness for war. The Americans also naively believed they could take advantage and attack the British during the American Revolution. An important period to consider is 1775 1783 where crucial battles and victories emerged for Canada against the Americans. In December of 1975, the Americans decided to attack Quebec, what is known and referred to as the Battle of Quebec in the American Revolutionary War. The purpose or motive of the invasion was to incorporate Quebec into the thirteen colonies. This would ultimately prove to be a failure for the Americans, which is discussed ... The picture was captioned drunken pirate and she was holding a red cup, the university officials claimed her behavior was unbecoming. Although her page was private, it was still easy for the officials to find this one image that ruined Stacey s career. In this chapter it is stressed how easy it is to find information on anyone. Google actually keeps individual records of people s search history, web pages browsed, and keywords that they often search. Google used to keep these records forever, but as of recently that changed and they are only kept for a short period of time. Also in this chapter it is stated that there is no more privacy. Girls who are raped at a young age suffer from physical abuse towards themselves. Self mischief isn t a notice sign for suicide, yet it can be an indication that somebody has survived a serious injury. They may attempt to numb the torment, feel a discharge, or recapture a feeling of control. Shockingly, this help is brief, and the desire to self mischief can return, empowering a cycle of self abuse that might bring about harm, disease, and now and then life debilitating medicinal issues. Statutory rape also leaves the victim with long term psychological and physical damage, [which again includes] sexually transmitted diseases and the inability to bear children (3). If a woman feels that she wants control back over her life she will eventually do something out of hand. She will try to hurt herself or look for comfort. Some women don t make it that far in finding comfort because they block the world off. The minors that have been abused and assaulted may even commit suicide or attempt it. At the point when the physical danger is in control, the ability to escape is something they can t stop, women authorize a characteristic instinct for survival. This includes the body summoning an enormous amount of energy to battle or escape short circuits. These short circuits flow through a woman s body. This can bring about stun, separation and numerous different sorts of automatic reactions while the abuse is happening. Many individuals who experience traumatic occasions might find that it can require some investment to re conform and adapt for a period after the occasion. The remaining mental, physical and profound impacts of rape and assault can have an affect for the day by day lives of survivors, which make it hard to mend. As the name implies, Uberpool is a carpooling method based on splitting fares with people going to the same place as you. It s environmentally efficient by having less cars on the road because it reduces single rider fares, resulting in less harmfull emissions (Uber). According to Amanda Eaken, a director of transportation and climate at the National Resource Defense Council, 40 percent of emissions in California is from transportation. Additionally, along with the main ideas from A Struggle to Govern the Commons, more emissions raise the atmospheric concentrations of CO2, a known greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. However there are limitations to this, it is not currently based by any research, just a theoretical hypothesis. Fortunately, some scientific research is on the way. The show portrays a bunch of kids biking around town unsupervised and solving mysteries and saving the town. The author, Anna North, then uses this notion to discuss how nowadays the idea of unstructured childhood is almost nonexistent and that parents are involved in everything due to cell phones, fear of child molesters and a move towards more parental involvement. The controlling side is brought into light when the author used phrases like helicopter parent . And the carefree side is seen when North uses phrases such as unsupervised , permissive and unstructured . This article is very well written as it is infused with both fact and fictional details and evidence. The content of this article was refreshing to read. I agree with the concept of it but disagree with the details. In the the seventh paragraph North points out that unstructured childhood seems less possible due to all the cell phones and the fear of child molesters. This was a very weak argument and one that wasn t researched very well. Cell phones have nothing to do with more structured parenting in fact they give children more freedom since parents can now reach their children wherever they are and check in on them. The fear of child molesters is very downplayed in this article. This article in a sense completely romanticized the 1980 s. The number of child molestations that occurred during the 80 s is almost 15% higher than it does now. This is most likely due to the fact that kids in the 80 s were allowed to go places without parental supervision which usually led to dangerous circumstances. The point I m trying to make is that parents became more involved in their children s daily activity not because they want to but because they have to. At the heart of the question is how to develop tech communities of people who don t just consume media, but who create it and can then use it to solve problems in their communities. While it is apparent that the population of minorities in Silicon Valley is low, it is difficult to uncover the explanations for these depressing demographics. There are two categories of intersecting obstacles for minorities wanting to get a foothold in the technology markets. There is a deficiency in access to technology and computer science educational programs, and there is a lack of venture capital available to minorities. These two factors create a deficit of collective capital required for potential minority entrepreneurs to broker deals for investments.
