The Contemporary Foreign Policy Of The United States
The contemporary foreign policy of the United States represents an evolving continuum of principles,
conceptions and strategies that in part, derived from the particularistic American Cold War experience.
As such, United States foreign policy is neither a static entity, nor is its intentions or direction
uncontested. This essay will examine the underlying issues of identity and how, beginning with the
Truman Doctrine, a distinct articulation of the national interest was evinced that has defined America s
role in the world. In doing so, focus will be given to the development of alliance policy, containment
and its effect on transforming the US posture in the post Cold War international order.
Firstly, it is pertinent to reconsider the traditional narratives that underpin American identity. Inherent
in this is Manifest Destiny, which asserts that Anglo Saxon American s are God s chosen people, with
a superior culture and who are pre ordained to spread civilisation to inferior peoples (Hollander 2009,
169). This tradition offers instructive themes for the formulation of American exceptionalism and its
manifestation into a missionary foreign policy (Hoffmann 1968, 369). It also raises to the forefront the
Manichean character of American policy, its solipsism and tendency to justify geopolitical objectives
in moralistic terms (Lepgold 1995, 372). Thus, US foreign policy is a discourse for reproducing
American identity, containing threats to its core principles and legitimating

Essay On Media Censorship
Media is an important part of the life, as people like to know what is happening behind the door. It
considered as a fourth estate in the world because of power it cares, and plays a crucial role in shaping
a democracy depriving the public power its privacy like it used to. Just media alone can control the
social movement, its behavior, and mood. There are two major kinds of media: social responsible
media and free press. All kind of media aspires to be a free and constructive critic. However, the
censorship is presented in both of them with a difference that social responsible media is mostly
controlled by the government and free press mostly has a public censorship. During development,
media has undergone many changes. Its workers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

consciousness with its weaknesses and vices soaking in it negative intention including lies. According
to Gladstone, it mostly happens after England required all kind of media to be approved by every

Analysis Of Two Dimensional Electrophoresis ( Ief )
TWO DIMENSIONAL ELECTROPHORESIS (IEF)
The different methods of separations of a mixture, to get one particular constitute of the mixture are
available now. The separation methods are based on the charge present and on migration rate and on
applied electric field are known as electro kinetics methods. Many methods are available which are
based on the electro kinetics method. Methods like electrophoresis, isotachophoresis, isoelectric
focusing and related techniques are available for the separation the components from the mixture. This
separation of molecules depend upon the many parameters like temperature, pH, ionic strength,
viscosity, applied electric field, concentration of electrolyte, surface charge, net charge of molecule
etc. These parameters are very important for separation.
Electrophoresis is the technique which monitors the charge of the molecule under the electric field
applied and separates the molecule by considering parameters like electrophoretic mobility, charge,
size of the molecule.
Isoelectric focusing requires constant electric charge with the different pH gradient on the gel and due
to this molecules get separated according to their isoelectric point.
Isotachophoresis uses different electric field with the combination of pH gradient for the separation of
the molecules or charged species.
 Electrophoresis:
The basic principle of electrophoresis involves the separation and isolation of charged molecules due
to their differential migration in a buffer

Social Communication And Rehabilitation Of Adolescents...
Social Communication and Rehabilitation of Adolescents with Traumatic Brain Injury
Introduction Adolescence, the time between puberty and adulthood, is marked by a shift toward
greater reliance on the peer group that the family, resulting in a greater need for more complex social
communication. It is also the age group which reports the highest incidents of traumatic brain injury
(Turkstra, 2004). One could surmise the many reasons for this increased risk taking or increased
participation in contact and/or extreme sports, for example. Because the adolescent brain is still
developing cognitive skills which support later developing communication skills such as figurative

inhibition of behaviors, and planning as well as encoding and retrieval of semantic memory (Siddiqui,
2008). It therefore stands to reason that behavioral studies on tasks including inhibitory control,
processing speed, working memory and decision making continues to develop during adolescence...
[and] developments in performance are linked to the pruning and myelination processes occurring ...
in the frontal cortex (Blakemore, 2006, p. 301). The prefrontal cortex, which covers the anterior
portion of the frontal lobe, has been associated with both awareness and theory of mind, which are two
very important functions that are necessary for effective social communication (Blakemore, 2006).
Additionally, the surge of hormones during adolescence, the increased time spent with peers and the
continued development of emotion processing contribute to the rapid development and proliferation of
social communication at that age.
Assessment Just as with adults, the impact that a traumatic brain injury has on the communication
skills and their underlying cognitive processes of an adolescent depends greatly on the nature,
specifically location, and severity of the insult. Closed brain injuries in adolescents tend to damage the
prefrontal regions. As a result,

Alka Seltzer Lab
What is the Percent by Mass of NaHCO3 in Alka Seltzer Tablets?
Introduction:
The moment an Alka Seltzer tablet hits water, it begins to fizz. These tablets are over the counter
antacids and pain relief medications that contain aspirin, sodium bicarbonate, and citric acid. The
fizzing is a result of a reaction occurring where carbon dioxide (in the form of bubbles), water, and
sodium acetate is formed. The fizzing and carbon dioxide bubbles are a result of the sodium
bicarbonate splitting and reacting with the citric acid. In this experiment we are determining the
percent by mass of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) in Alka Seltzer tablets and exploring the
relationship between amounts of reactants and products.
Experimental:
First students obtained 8 graduated cylinders and labeled them. Each one contained a different ratio of
vinegar and water. These graduated cylinders with the liquid were weighed and recorded. Then,
students obtained an Alka Seltzer tablet and recorded its mass. Then one alka seltzer tablet was
dropped into each of the graduated cylinders. Students had to ... Show more content on

In this experiment, the precision of percent by mass of sodium carbonate was decent. It seemed to be
consistent, although we seemed to have an outlier in our fifth trial. I believe this was due to human
error of adding too much vinegar to this graduated cylinder. The accuracy of our results was decent in
comparison to the rest of the class s data, but our results were on the higher end compared to the
averages of the class data, though not too high to be considered

Proteins Of Bovine Red Blood Cell
Protein Composition in Red Blood Cells in Humans using Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis
Name: Emma Claypole

Abstract
The proteins of Bovine red blood cell (RBC) membranes were analyzed using polyacrylamide gel
electrophoresis. After analyzing Bovine RBC they were then compared to human RBC counterpart.
Following finding the log of each molecular weight of each band, band one showed the highest
molecular weight. All five bands viewed were from humans. There are typically 7 bands visible
however, in our case only five were visible due to implications within the gel sample.
Introduction
Proteins are important elements in cellular membranes and give the membranes many of their
characteristics. In red blood cells, the meshwork of proteins in and around the membrane gives it
strength and flexibility, allowing a cell to squeeze through small capillaries without bursting. Other
proteins play roles in transporting material in and out of the cell (Lab Manual, Cell Biology).
Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), with all of its different modifications is probably the most
widely utilized procedure in contemporary biochemistry and molecular biology (Mordacq and
Ellington (1994)). In this experiment, we will attempt to determine the molecular weights of the major
proteins in the plasma membranes of bovine red blood cells (RBCs). The predictions made are if our
protein has similar weights as proteins

Last Hundred Days Analysis
After collecting many statistics on the battle of WW1 (Battle of Ypres, Battle of Somme, Battle of
Vimy Ridge, Battle of Passchendaele, and Battle of Last Hundred Days) I came to the conclusion that
the battle of Hundred Days had the greatest number of Canadian casualties overall. After looking
through the statistics of the casualties among Canadian soldiers throughout the following battles I saw
that Canada s Hundred Days Battle had a substantially greater amount of wounded and dead soldiers
compared to the battles of Ypres, Somme, Vimy Ridge, and Passchendaele. Canada s Hundred Day
battle cost Canada about 36,000 casualties in total, then Battle of Somme with about 24,000 casualties,
then Passchendaele with approximately 16,000 casualties,

General Mills
The company can trace its history to the Minneapolis Milling Company, an organization founded in
1856 by Illinois Congressman Robert Smith which leased power rights to mills operating along Saint
Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River. Cadwallader C. Washburn acquired the company shortly after
its founding and hired his brother, William D. Washburn to assist in the company s development. In
1866, the Washburns got into the business themselves, building the Washburn B Mill at the falls. At
the time, the building was considered to be so large and output so vast that it could not possibly
sustain itself. However, the company succeeded, and in 1874 he built the even bigger Washburn A
Mill.
In 1877, the mill entered a partnership with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

purchase of the company was substantial because it brought production costs down and tripled the
revenue.
Beginning in 1959, General Mills sponsored the famous Rocky and His Friends television show,
which later prompted The Bullwinkle Show in 1961. Until 1968, Rocky and Bullwinkle were featured
in a variety of advertisements for General Mills.
General Mills came out with their Monster Cereals in the 1970s. Two of the cereals, Frute Brute and
Yummy Mummy, were discontinued from the Monster Cereal line in the 1980s.[citation needed]
In 1970, General Mills acquired a five unit restaurant company called Red Lobster and expanded it
nationwide. Soon, a division of General Mills titled General Mills Restaurants developed to take
charge of the Red Lobster chain. In 1982, General Mills Restaurants founded a new Italian themed
restaurant chain called Olive Garden. Another themed restaurant, China Coast, was added before the
entire group was spun off to General Mills shareholders in 1995 as Darden Restaurants.
During the same decade, General Mills ventured further, starting General Mills Specialty Retail
Group. They

Summary of The Lottery
The short story that this paper will look at is The Lottery by Shirley Jackson. It was first published in
The New Yorker on 26 June 1948. It is one of the most famous short stories in the history of United
States literature history. This paper is a summary of the story from my point of view. The Lottery is a
work of fiction that demonstrates rebellion and conformity while insinuating that a lottery is part of a
ritualistic ceremony. The author was born in 1919. She struggled with depression throughout her life.
She married Edgar Hyman, with whom she had four children. Throughout her marriage, Jackson
maintained a writing career, which led to four other novels. The short story focuses on a certain village

The lottery as well as other community activities, the teen club, square dances, and the Halloween
programs are organized by Mr. Summers. He had the energy and time to devote to civic activities such
as those that took place during the lottery. In terms of character, Mr. Summers was a jovial man who
ran a coal business in the village. However, his personal life made people feel pity for him. This is
because his wife was a scold, and they did not have children. During the lottery, Mr. Summers arrived
at the square while carrying a wooden black box. He placed the black box on a three legged stool that
Mr. Graves, the postmaster, had carried to the square. The villagers felt pity for Mr. Summers to the
extent that it had turned into fear. This is because when he entered the square, they had kept their
distance, which had created a space between them and the stool. In addition, when Mr. Summers
requested help from the villagers in handling the box, they hesitated. It is like nobody wanted to get
close to where he was standing. Only two men, Baxter and his father Mr. Martin, responded to his
request. They moved forward and held the box steady on the three legged stool as Mr. Summers
organized the papers that were in the box. Moreover, the story develops a tone of a panic nature as
time progresses. The villagers draw their slips, and this creates a sense of urgency. This is because

Analysis Of The Movie Memoirs Of A Geisha
Both Rob Marshall and Warwick Thornton have very distinctive and different directory movie styles.
However, In memoirs of a Geisha (Directed by Rob Marshall) and Samson Delilah (Directed by
Warwick Thornton) Both Warwick and Marshall are able to communicate their ideas of exploitation
similarly through a variety of shots and film techniques. These techniques are used in great succession
and are able to capture the audience to sympathize with these characters at their lowest points.
A scene in Samson Delilah that truly captured the essence of exploitation in modern day Australia was
a scene where Delilah tries to sell her artwork to an Aboriginal art gallery. The character Delilah as

with Delilah. My immediate thought after this occurred was Why was Delilah dismissed so quickly?
This isn t fair! which I believe Warwick Thornton wanted his audiences to think. Warwick managed to
subtly instill discomfort into his viewers by putting us in a situation we can t help but feel
uncomfortable and sympathetic in which was used in great succession. We then switch back to where
the art exhibtionist is standing and watch as Delilah walks off emcombringly out of the shot as there is
a sharp focus on her while exiting. Once delilah has vanished out of the shot we are quickly
transitioned to the next scene as we see Delilah sitting on a hill looking off into the distance. We then
transition and see two school girls sitting on a bench. One with on her phone and the other eating ice
cream. The camera than shifts focus from these two unknown school girls to Delilah who s watching
in the background. This shot stays on Delilah for 7 seconds and I believe that this is very significant.
As previously mentioned Delilah does not look like she fits in, in fact based on her

Physical And Mental Benefits Of Getting A Disease
About 60 to 70 percent of Americans do not get enough exercise (CDC ). Due to that, there is a huge
percentage of Americans who don t get enough exercise therefore, I am going to create a gym for
teens and adults to enjoy. Health is important in many ways. One reason why exercising is important
is because it is a struggle for most teens to get a certain amount of exercise. Exercise has many
benefits such as physical and mental benefits. Which help people get more active and more aware of
their surroundings. These benefits can help a person go further in life. Exercise also has benefits to
prevent one from having a risk of getting a disease. Did you know that about 17 percent or 12.7
million children and adolescents from the age of two throw the age of nineteen are obese? (JAMA). In
the paper I will be discussing the physical and mental benefits of getting exercise as well as how
exercising can prevent diseases, and also I will be discussing what would be in the gym I plan to open
and how I plan on opening it. Many teens do not get enough exercise, but exercise does have benefits
such as physical and mental benefits as well as reducing the rate of getting a disease. Physical health is
an important factor for a teen. A teenage should exercise but not too intense. Which means that one
should not exercise too much that one would feel sick to his or her stomach. A teen should work for
strength and it is best to do different types of exercise. Physical health is based on

Harriet Jacobs vs Fredrick Douglas
Slavery was one of the most tragic memories known for in the black race. Slavery is the process at
which an African American is purchased by a Caucasian who is used for exhausting labor work such
as picking cotton, or tending to house work and being restricted from freedom. All of the slaves were
used and abused physically, mentally, and emotionally. In some cases abuse was the death of many of
those slaves. The slaves were classified as the lowest of the low and were banned from learning,
reading, and writing. Not all slaves lives ended at those abusive plantations. Two former slaves whose
lives turned out a success was Harriet Jacobs and Fredrick Douglass.
February 11, 1813 in Edenton, North Carolina Harriet Jacobs was born into slavery. Harriet Jacobs s
parents were Elijah and Delilah Jacobs mother and father of Harriet and her older brother John Jacob
s. Elijah Jacob s was a skilled carpenter, who made enough money so that his family could all live
together. Harriet Jacob s grandmother Molly Horniblow played a major role in the Jacob s family life.
At the age six Harriet Jacob s mother passed away Harriet was sent away to live with her mother s

The theme of carelessness in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott...
I couldn t forgive him or like him, but I saw that what he had done was, to him, entirely justified. It
was all very careless and confused. They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things
and creatures and the retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was the
kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made (Fitzgerald 180 181). In the
novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the characters Daisy and Tom demonstrate the theme of
carelessness. Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish thus lacking a lack of good

You forget there s a lady present, said Jordan. Daisy looked around doubtfully You kiss Nick too.
What a low, vulgar girl!
I don t care! cried Daisy, and began to clog on the brick fireplace. (Fitzgerald 116) It is evident that
Daisy s words I don t care show that she is inconsiderate of other peoples feelings. She rudely shows
her affection for Gatsby in public without considering the fact that Nick and Myrtle are present. In
addition to being inconsiderate of Nick and Jordan, Daisy is inconsiderate to Tom as well. She looked
at him [Tom] blindly. Why how could I love him possibly? (Fitzgerald 132) It is extremely
inconsiderate to be telling Tom the man to whom she is married that she never loved him. Therefore,
even though Tom showed carelessness through being inconsiderate of Daisy, Daisy was the more
careless one because she was inconsiderate of more people as a result of her behaviour. These people
include Nick, Jordan, and Tom.
Finally, both Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish. Tom Buchanan exhibits
foolishness by physically harming Daisy. We all looked. The knuckle was black and blue.

Examples Of Enumerated Powers

Congress are listed. The enumerated powers clearly list actions that Congress is able to perform, like

Elastic Clause or the Necessary and Proper Clause. This clause gives the Congress implied powers.
The establishment of naval bases by Congress is an example of an implied power. The Constitution
does not directly give Congress this power; however Congress is allowed to build bases because it was

To Speak or Not To Speak Essay examples
To Speak or Not To Speak
Imagine, you have just given birth to your first child. Emotions of happiness, love, and excitement
surround you and your partner as you adore the newborn baby lying in your arms. You are so relieved
that the labor went smoothly and to know that your baby was born completely normal, or so the
doctors say. However, a couple years later, you are having premonitions that your child is not
developing normally. He is not responding to your voice, nor does he react to loud noises, crashing
and banging sounds, sirens, etc.
In addition, it is clearly apparent that he is not developing language. After meeting with the
pediatrician, you are faced with the harsh reality that your son is deaf. Now what are you going to ...

Ling states that after the parents have accepted their child s deafness and they have accepted to work
constructively with the child, they can do more for their children than any professional (Ling, 6).
After the parents have accepted their child s impairment, they must take the necessary steps in
deciding how their child will communicate. But, before they can make any decision as to which
approach they will use with and for their child, they must first research and completely understand the
aspects of each. According to Father van Uden of Sint Michielsgestel,
[T]he essential characteristics of oral communication are: a communicative system that exclusively
uses speech, residual hearing, speech reading, and/or vibrotactile stimulation with or without normal
gesticulation in spontaneous conversation, and a system in which the teaching of language and of all
subjects involved in languages conducted exclusively through its spoken and written forms.
(Mulholland, 535).
The manual approach stresses the use of signs in teaching deaf children to communicate. The use of
theses signs is based on the principle that deaf children are unable to develop oral language, so they
must use some other means of communication (Hardman, Drew, Egan, 435). The primary goal for
oralism is to develop the speech and communication skills necessary for integration into the hearing
community (Roach 2002). Advocates of this particular

This unit existed until May 2003 when the anti corruption and economic crimes Act (ACECA),
established the Kenya Anti corruption commission (KACC). The ACECA replaced the prevention of
corruption Act, 1956. ACECA is the key statute in the fight against corruption and is complimented by
the public office ethics Act. Past reforms on public expenditure management have not worked well as
the executive arm of the government has consistently failed to act on various recommendations of the
watchdog institutions on the mismanagement of public funds. Similarly, the stated war against
corruption, which is rampant in the public expenditure management, is yet to be won mainly due to
legal technicalities encountered in trying to establish an effective and independent anti corruption
authority. There is therefore need for a thorough examination of the fiscal systems with a view to
formulating pragmatic remedial measures (Baumol, 2003). Research Problem Statement The problem
of this study is to explore the effects of corruption on the economic growth in Kenya. Corruption cases
reported to KACC increased by 16 % from 3637 in 2,008 to 4473 in 2009 (economic survey 2010).
Corruption affects both the nation and the individual. At the national level, corruption has led to poor
economic performance. This has resulted in: increased taxation burdens on Kenyans; unplanned,
misdirected expenditure on projects

Salem s Lot Character Analysis
Good vs Evil, a very common topic, is highly portrayed in the thriller novel titled Salem s Lot written
by Stephen King. The idea is interpreted by a multitude of characters Ben Mears, Jimmy Cody, Father
Callahan, Matthew Burke, Mark Petrie, Susan Norton, a lot of townspeople, R. T. Straker, and a man
named and goes by Bowler. As we all know and tell by the photo on the left, the novel is all about
vampires. R. T. Staker and Bowler are both equally evil, however, Bowler is the leading vampire and
Straker is his loyal human servant, Most of the townspeople were good but were forced or chosen to

leading vampire, who turns half of the town such as Eva Miller, Weasel Craig, Danny Glick, and
more... into vampires! The vampires sleep during the day and only come out at night. Throughout the
novel, Bowler found out Ben s group had found about the vampires, and made them his target. He and

By the end of the novel, there were 2 remaining main characters Ben and Mark. Matt had a heart
attack again due to stress, but this time did not survive. Callahan disappeared after fleeing the lot,
Susan was stabbed with a stake by Ben, and Jimmy was killed by a trap in a basement where the
vampires hid during the day. Ben killed Bowler just in time before he awoke at night, and Bowler
killed Straker because he accidentally let Mark escape when he and Susan were captured in the

Totalitarianism And The Government s Lies And Propaganda
Vu 1 Joyce Vu Mr. Jacques ENG4U1 f January 12, 2014 Totalitarianism in 1984 and We: When 2+2 =
X When the government s lies and propaganda are embedded in everyday life, how can one find the
strength to rebel? The theme of totalitarianism is prevalent in both George Orwell s 1984, and
Zamyatin Yevgeny s We. The authority ruling over the inhabitants in We, require that the entire city be
made out of glass, that names be made out of a consonant or vowel and a set of numbers. The inner
party ruling over the inhabitants in 1984, require that people use Newspeak, believe they are satisfied,
and live with a telescreen that cannot be turned off. Physical control is a large part contribution to the
success of the totalitarian governments. They focus on taking away the individuality of the person and
replace it with undying love for big brother. However all governments have a crack, a glitch that can
prove to be an achilles heel. No matter how seemingly perfect they currently are, if there is a crack,
there is a way for rebellion to occur. Just as important as it is to have physical control, it is also key to
have jurisdiction over the human mind. The people must wholeheartedly believe and love the
government. Brainwashing will help to avoid future uprisings or disputes against the state. In 1984,
the citizens of Oceania worship Big Brother where as in We, they worship The Benefactor. In both
cases, these godlike figures prove to play a crucial role in uniting the countries.

Power And Control In William Shakespeare s The Tempest
In William Shakespeare s romantic comedy play, The Tempest, we witness an endless amount of
power struggles and scheming amongst characters, all in the hopes of achieving one thing: complete
control over the remote island in which they re stranded on. Throughout the play, characters choose
their allies, set targets on their enemies, and manipulate situations and one another in an attempt to
reach their end goals. Each character that strives to colonize the island has different motives based on
their place in the social hierarchy and their relationships to fellow characters. However, each character
seeking control over the island not only has their own motives, but also their own vision for what the
island could be under their sole jurisdiction. The three main players seeking to colonize the island and
make their own vision of what it could be into a reality are Prospero, Caliban, and Gonzalo. Between
these three characters we see relationships between the colonizer, the colonized, and one character
who envisions the island as an opportunity to create the perfect society. Power and control are
prominent themes in Shakespeare s The Tempest, as the audience is faced with severe questions of
morality and who has rightful claim of the island.
As the play begins, we learn of the master/servant relationships that are already in place on the island.
Prospero is the current all powerful and omnipotent ruler of the island, who uses strategical social
tactics of abuse and manipulation

The decades of crisis between both World Wars in Europe was an armistice lasting twenty years.
Given France s resentment towards German occupation, and postwar peace and economic conditions
placed on Germany by the Versailles Peace Treaty,Karl von Clausewitz referred to the period as war

redrawn, thirty eight independent economic units replaced the pre war twenty six, and there were

A Biography of No Place: From Ethnic Borderland to Soviet Heartland by Kate Brown, reveals
Stalinism and Nazi history from the perspective of those subjected by the ethnic purification and
imposition of nationalism in the borderland region in the Ukraine, known as the Marchlevsk or Kresy.
There is a sense of conflict in the interwar years. Brown notes that throughout the interwar period,
Ukrainians had been accusing Poles of skewing the census to minimize the Ukrainian population in
the Kresy, which is the eastern half of Poland that was seized by the USSR in 1939. In 1922, Poles
living in the Soviet Union accused Ukrainian officials of deliberately undercounting the Polish
population of the western parts of the Soviet Ukraine border.Furthermore, Brown argues that gender
and class were vital in crafting regional identity, she notes that they were: tied to locality, class,
profession and social status, rather than to nationality. The Marchlevsk Polish Autonomous Region in
the Soviet Ukraine demonstrates the complexity of nationality, and the ambiguity of any line dividing
Poles from Ukrainians since around seventy percent of population Marchlevsk was nominally Polish .

Television In The 1960 s
Television in the 1960s brought Americans closer through the stories and tragedies they experienced.
As televisions became more mainstream and affordable, more people invested in them. The time was
right for the industry to flourish. Between 1959 and 1970, the percentage of households in the U.S.
with at least one TV went from 88% to 96% (Ganzel). More people buying TVs meant that the
industry grew and the technology could improve. As satellite technology developed, it became

News programs in the 60s were a major selling point in buying a television. Part of television s
success is due to the news being so relevant and reliable. In the 50s and 60s, news on the television

recently when we chose to diversify our product line by investing in and releasing games for the
mobile platform. Most dominant however, is the emergent strategy, which allows us sufficient
flexibity to learn and adapt to changes in our environment. Supported by other approaches, I believe
my organization can continue being successful. These other supports include what Stonehouse (2002)
calls a competitive positioning and resources/competence based strategy. The competitive positioning
approach emphasizes the importance of not only the environment but the need of analyzing your
business in the context of its industry. The last support outlet (resources/competence), focuses on the
competitive advantage of your business; what are the company specific resources and how

The Feudal System In The European Middle Ages
Something every civilization needs. Something so powerful that without it civilizations fall into chaos.
Social Systems. But not just any social system, the European Middle Ages one. The Feudal System.
While it may seem insignificant to Europe and Europe s history compared to other events like the
Hundred Years War or the Black Plague which killed many people and completely changed many
parts of Europe, the Feudal System (also called Feudalism) was also very important to Europe during
the Medieval Times.
After the fall of Rome, Europe, no longer united, left powerful warlords alone to war against each
other. These powerful warlords proclaimed themselves as kings and warred with each other for power.
Becaused of these fights, Europe was in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it may seem like the fall of Rome happens before Serfdom succeeded slavery, it actually
happens a little while later. When Rome fell, Europe, no longer being in a united and unified empire,
was split up into numerous states all of which were in complete chaos. Powerful warlords proclaimed
themselves as kings and took over land, creating multiple separate states that were no longer united.
This disorder allowed many bandits and raiders to freely attack. With no central government to protect
them, the people were helpless against these attacks. Many new barbarian kingdoms also attacked the
states of the crumbled Europe. While all this was going on, the people were desperately looking for
something that could help them. Feudalism was truly important in order to stop this chaos.
The gradual creation of the Feudal System was extraordinarily important to many different things that
occurred and made many changes to the lives of the people. If there was no gradual creation of
Feudalism, the world of Europe would be remarkably different with many changes such as there
would be no knights which protected people, no serfs to give everyone food, no king to unite the
people, and no nobles that would give land to their knights. This would make the life of the people of
Europe decidedly

Hiroshima Bombing Critique
Despite having our eyes wide open, we failed to actually see the world. Susan Neiman s article caught
me completely off guard. Even as someone who grew up outside of the United States, I was taught
educated by my teachers that the Atomic bombs, which exploded in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were the
most crucial elements that led to the surrender of Japan during World War II. Many US historians also
argued that the bomb not only hasten hastens the end of the war, but also saved almost a million
American soldiers who could have died if the war was to continue. However, Neiman pointed out
sharply in her article that the US did not drop the (atomic) bomb in order to end the war or save lives.
(Neiman, 12) Through unclassified historical evidence, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this is a logic logical fallacy that confuses our understanding in my opinion. First, there is a
fundamental basic difference between the Japanese government and the ordinary citizens of
Hiroshima. It is true to say that the emperor of Japan declared war and the Japanese troops invaded
several countries, but should primary school children who had just began grasping the world be held
accountable for their government s mistakes? How are the innocent schoolgirls, the uninvolved
foreign priests and the Japanese antiwar fighters different from the Jews? Second, even if we consider
the concept of total war, which sees seeks no difference between civilians and soldiers during war
time, discrediting Japanese citizens through comparison with Jews remains problematic. (Heresy, 90)
To illustrate, a drunk driver should be held accountable for killing no matter who his car hit whether if
it an old man or a kidnapper. The meaning of the perpetrator s action does not change vary due to the
victim s identity. Similarly, just because the Japanese started the war doesn t make the bombing of
Hiroshima a virtuous action. Hence, the US government s constant unremitting emphasis on the
difference between Jews and Japanese is not an act of promoting Jewish interest. It is a slow yet
effective process that seeks to deceive the general population through distortion of our moral vision.
As we constantly focus on the straight forward evils like the case of the Holocaust, we fail to
recognise the more complicated version of evil which dominated the US foreign policy for the past 50
years. (Neiman, 23) Meanwhile the US interests are well served through promoting the picture of
simple evil, the great lost lies in the ignorance of the general

This can be linked to Vygotsky s (1978) (cited in Nevid 2007) theory of Zone of Proximal
Development. The Zone of Proximal Development is closely linked to scaffolding. Vygotsky sees the
Zone of Proximal Development as the area where the child needs the most guidance. He looks at the
interaction of peers as a great way of developing skills. The Zone of Proximal Development provides
support for the learner s development. According to (Nevid 2007) the followers of Vygotsky believe
that parents and practitioners should use the skill of scaffolding in order to support children when they

The Advancement And Development Delivery Of Media Content
The advancement and development in delivery of media content has also affected the audience s
behavior in certain manner. In distant past, families use to gather around the only television screen in
home and enjoy the prime time programs aired by these limited broadcasters. Millions of households
already have cancelled pay TV subscriptions up to 10 million U.S. households are currently broadband
only. And about 45 percent of Americans stream television shows at least once a month, according to
research firm eMarketer. That number is expected to increase to 53 percent or 175 million people by

Occasionally, people use to go out and rent DVD s to watch a specific movie from rental stores.
Advancement in technology has brought a sufficient change in customer s behaviors, today DVD
rental stores have almost gone. Moreover, by time we saw enormous increase in channels being
provided by cable providers, but today even that has been replaced by streaming media devices, thus
my time, role of cable providers might also disappear due to the introduction of devices such as
Netflix, Apple TV etc. DVD sales have also been hit. The Los Angeles based Digital Entertainment
Group estimates DVD sales in 2008 fell 8% to $21.6 billion from a year earlier, while DVD rentals
were flat. Charny, Ben. Viewers Tap Free Web Content. Wall Street Journal, Eastern

  • 2. The Contemporary Foreign Policy Of The United States The contemporary foreign policy of the United States represents an evolving continuum of principles, conceptions and strategies that in part, derived from the particularistic American Cold War experience. As such, United States foreign policy is neither a static entity, nor is its intentions or direction uncontested. This essay will examine the underlying issues of identity and how, beginning with the Truman Doctrine, a distinct articulation of the national interest was evinced that has defined America s role in the world. In doing so, focus will be given to the development of alliance policy, containment and its effect on transforming the US posture in the post Cold War international order. Firstly, it is pertinent to reconsider the traditional narratives that underpin American identity. Inherent in this is Manifest Destiny, which asserts that Anglo Saxon American s are God s chosen people, with a superior culture and who are pre ordained to spread civilisation to inferior peoples (Hollander 2009, 169). This tradition offers instructive themes for the formulation of American exceptionalism and its manifestation into a missionary foreign policy (Hoffmann 1968, 369). It also raises to the forefront the Manichean character of American policy, its solipsism and tendency to justify geopolitical objectives in moralistic terms (Lepgold 1995, 372). Thus, US foreign policy is a discourse for reproducing American identity, containing threats to its core principles and legitimating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of Two Dimensional Electrophoresis ( Ief ) TWO DIMENSIONAL ELECTROPHORESIS (IEF) The different methods of separations of a mixture, to get one particular constitute of the mixture are available now. The separation methods are based on the charge present and on migration rate and on applied electric field are known as electro kinetics methods. Many methods are available which are based on the electro kinetics method. Methods like electrophoresis, isotachophoresis, isoelectric focusing and related techniques are available for the separation the components from the mixture. This separation of molecules depend upon the many parameters like temperature, pH, ionic strength, viscosity, applied electric field, concentration of electrolyte, surface charge, net charge of molecule etc. These parameters are very important for separation. Electrophoresis is the technique which monitors the charge of the molecule under the electric field applied and separates the molecule by considering parameters like electrophoretic mobility, charge, size of the molecule. Isoelectric focusing requires constant electric charge with the different pH gradient on the gel and due to this molecules get separated according to their isoelectric point. Isotachophoresis uses different electric field with the combination of pH gradient for the separation of the molecules or charged species.  Electrophoresis: The basic principle of electrophoresis involves the separation and isolation of charged molecules due to their differential migration in a buffer ... Social Communication and Rehabilitation of Adolescents with Traumatic Brain Injury Introduction Adolescence, the time between puberty and adulthood, is marked by a shift toward greater reliance on the peer group that the family, resulting in a greater need for more complex social communication. It is also the age group which reports the highest incidents of traumatic brain injury (Turkstra, 2004). The prefrontal cortex, which covers the anterior portion of the frontal lobe, has been associated with both awareness and theory of mind, which are two very important functions that are necessary for effective social communication (Blakemore, 2006). Additionally, the surge of hormones during adolescence, the increased time spent with peers and the continued development of emotion processing contribute to the rapid development and proliferation of social communication at that age. • 6. Alka Seltzer Lab What is the Percent by Mass of NaHCO3 in Alka Seltzer Tablets? Introduction: The moment an Alka Seltzer tablet hits water, it begins to fizz. These tablets are over the counter antacids and pain relief medications that contain aspirin, sodium bicarbonate, and citric acid. The fizzing is a result of a reaction occurring where carbon dioxide (in the form of bubbles), water, and sodium acetate is formed. The fizzing and carbon dioxide bubbles are a result of the sodium bicarbonate splitting and reacting with the citric acid. In this experiment we are determining the percent by mass of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) in Alka Seltzer tablets and exploring the relationship between amounts of reactants and products. Experimental: First students obtained 8 graduated cylinders and labeled them. Each one contained a different ratio of vinegar and water. These graduated cylinders with the liquid were weighed and recorded. Then, students obtained an Alka Seltzer tablet and recorded its mass. Proteins Of Bovine Red Blood Cell Protein Composition in Red Blood Cells in Humans using Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis Name: Emma Claypole Date: Wednesday March 16, 2016 Lab Group: W08, Wednesday morning 2 Abstract The proteins of Bovine red blood cell (RBC) membranes were analyzed using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. After analyzing Bovine RBC they were then compared to human RBC counterpart. Following finding the log of each molecular weight of each band, band one showed the highest molecular weight. All five bands viewed were from humans. There are typically 7 bands visible however, in our case only five were visible due to implications within the gel sample. Introduction Proteins are important elements in cellular membranes and give the membranes many of their characteristics. In red blood cells, the meshwork of proteins in and around the membrane gives it strength and flexibility, allowing a cell to squeeze through small capillaries without bursting. Other proteins play roles in transporting material in and out of the cell (Lab Manual, Cell Biology). Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), with all of its different modifications is probably the most widely utilized procedure in contemporary biochemistry and molecular biology (Mordacq and Ellington (1994)). In this experiment, we will attempt to determine the molecular weights of the major proteins in the plasma membranes of bovine red blood cells (RBCs). In addition, when Mr. Summers requested help from the villagers in handling the box, they hesitated. It is like nobody wanted to get close to where he was standing. Only two men, Baxter and his father Mr. Martin, responded to his request. Ling states that after the parents have accepted their child s deafness and they have accepted to work constructively with the child, they can do more for their children than any professional (Ling, 6). After the parents have accepted their child s impairment, they must take the necessary steps in deciding how their child will communicate. But, before they can make any decision as to which approach they will use with and for their child, they must first research and completely understand the aspects of each. According to Father van Uden of Sint Michielsgestel, [T]he essential characteristics of oral communication are: a communicative system that exclusively uses speech, residual hearing, speech reading, and/or vibrotactile stimulation with or without normal gesticulation in spontaneous conversation, and a system in which the teaching of language and of all subjects involved in languages conducted exclusively through its spoken and written forms. (Mulholland, 535). The manual approach stresses the use of signs in teaching deaf children to communicate. The use of theses signs is based on the principle that deaf children are unable to develop oral language, so they must use some other means of communication (Hardman, Drew, Egan, 435). The primary goal for oralism is to develop the speech and communication skills necessary for integration into the hearing community (Roach 2002). Advocates of this particular ... The ACECA replaced the prevention of corruption Act, 1956. ACECA is the key statute in the fight against corruption and is complimented by the public office ethics Act. Past reforms on public expenditure management have not worked well as the executive arm of the government has consistently failed to act on various recommendations of the watchdog institutions on the mismanagement of public funds. Similarly, the stated war against corruption, which is rampant in the public expenditure management, is yet to be won mainly due to legal technicalities encountered in trying to establish an effective and independent anti corruption authority. There is therefore need for a thorough examination of the fiscal systems with a view to formulating pragmatic remedial measures (Baumol, 2003). Research Problem Statement The problem of this study is to explore the effects of corruption on the economic growth in Kenya. Corruption cases reported to KACC increased by 16 % from 3637 in 2,008 to 4473 in 2009 (economic survey 2010). Corruption affects both the nation and the individual. • 27. Totalitarianism And The Government s Lies And Propaganda Vu 1 Joyce Vu Mr. Jacques ENG4U1 f January 12, 2014 Totalitarianism in 1984 and We: When 2+2 = X When the government s lies and propaganda are embedded in everyday life, how can one find the strength to rebel? The theme of totalitarianism is prevalent in both George Orwell s 1984, and Zamyatin Yevgeny s We. The authority ruling over the inhabitants in We, require that the entire city be made out of glass, that names be made out of a consonant or vowel and a set of numbers. The inner party ruling over the inhabitants in 1984, require that people use Newspeak, believe they are satisfied, and live with a telescreen that cannot be turned off. Physical control is a large part contribution to the success of the totalitarian governments. They focus on taking away the individuality of the person and replace it with undying love for big brother. However all governments have a crack, a glitch that can prove to be an achilles heel. No matter how seemingly perfect they currently are, if there is a crack, there is a way for rebellion to occur. Just as important as it is to have physical control, it is also key to have jurisdiction over the human mind. The people must wholeheartedly believe and love the government. Brainwashing will help to avoid future uprisings or disputes against the state. In 1984, the citizens of Oceania worship Big Brother where as in We, they worship The Benefactor. In both cases, these godlike figures prove to play a crucial role in uniting the countries. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Power And Control In William Shakespeare s The Tempest In William Shakespeare s romantic comedy play, The Tempest, we witness an endless amount of power struggles and scheming amongst characters, all in the hopes of achieving one thing: complete control over the remote island in which they re stranded on. Throughout the play, characters choose their allies, set targets on their enemies, and manipulate situations and one another in an attempt to reach their end goals. Each character that strives to colonize the island has different motives based on their place in the social hierarchy and their relationships to fellow characters. However, each character seeking control over the island not only has their own motives, but also their own vision for what the island could be under their sole jurisdiction. The three main players seeking to colonize the island and make their own vision of what it could be into a reality are Prospero, Caliban, and Gonzalo. Between these three characters we see relationships between the colonizer, the colonized, and one character who envisions the island as an opportunity to create the perfect society. Power and control are prominent themes in Shakespeare s The Tempest, as the audience is faced with severe questions of morality and who has rightful claim of the island. As the play begins, we learn of the master/servant relationships that are already in place on the island. First, there is a fundamental basic difference between the Japanese government and the ordinary citizens of Hiroshima. It is true to say that the emperor of Japan declared war and the Japanese troops invaded several countries, but should primary school children who had just began grasping the world be held accountable for their government s mistakes? How are the innocent schoolgirls, the uninvolved foreign priests and the Japanese antiwar fighters different from the Jews? Second, even if we consider the concept of total war, which sees seeks no difference between civilians and soldiers during war time, discrediting Japanese citizens through comparison with Jews remains problematic. (Heresy, 90) To illustrate, a drunk driver should be held accountable for killing no matter who his car hit whether if it an old man or a kidnapper. The meaning of the perpetrator s action does not change vary due to the victim s identity. Similarly, just because the Japanese started the war doesn t make the bombing of Hiroshima a virtuous action.
