Among the accomplishments I am most proud of , is I am father to 2 girls, both now married, each with a child. Also, I have two sons, age 30 and 27, all 4 college graduates, healthy and successful in all terms of the word. At 55, I now turn attention to myself, and the defining priorities of my “golden Years”.
My Strengths I believe, as further defined in my Intro course at Argosy, are my desire to share my experiences, ;successes and failures, to help others, especially those younger than I. I also seemed to be gifted with a gift of vulnerability, from using humor to self reflection and questioning and examining issues others may be afraid to question. I have learned that this is a Brave New world of Advanced Technology , with it’s risks and rewards.
My major goals this first semester year are to reawaken and sharpen my basic learning skills; i.e. analytical problem solving, reading speed and memory retention., effective and enhanced writing skills. Concurrently, I must fine tune time management skills, as well as locus of control choices.
As previously related in my journal and online discussions, I tend to be more of an exploratory thinker and learner, challenging thinking ‘outside of the box’; not to be rebellious, but to not compromise with mediocrity and conformity when my value system is gone against. I am learning how to ‘choose my battles’. Also, I’ve learned how much more I like more self involved interactive learning, versus traditional lecture style of learning.
I want to achieve a minimum of 12 additional credits towards my Psychology B.A.
