What’s a private cloud? Well again we have definition provided by the same bodyOperated solely for an orgnaisation that means that you have exclusive use of the infrastructure…how can that be part of the cloud definition of shared? It’s because it’s shared between users within an organisation, often we talk about application owners but you could think in terms of departmentsExist on or off premise perhaps you have a need not to grow your data center so you place some servers into the data center of a 3rd party who maintains that for you, that’s still a private cloud because it’s used only by your company

The consumer does not manage or control the underlying cloud infrastructure but has control over operating systems, storage, deployed applications, and possibly limited control of select networking components (e.g., host firewalls). Cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS). The capability provided to the consumer is to deploy onto the cloud infrastructure consumer-created or acquired applications created using programming languages and tools supported by the provider. The consumer does not manage or control the underlying cloud infrastructure including network, servers, operating systems, or storage, but has control over the deployed applications and possibly application hosting environment configurations. Cloud Software as a Service (SaaS). The capability provided to the consumer is to use the provider’s applications running on a cloud infrastructure. The applications are accessible from various client devices through a thin client interface such as a web browser (e.g., web-based email). The consumer does not manage or control the underlying cloud infrastructure including network, servers, operating systems, storage, or even individual application capabilities, with the possible exception of limited user-specific application configuration settings.
So the one slide Azure primer…Azure’s a true cloud platform built from the ground up for scale and availability, you can build an application that has the ability to intelligently scale itself in .Net or a bunch of other languages like Java and PHP.An application is built by taking building blocks, like compute and storage combining it with data sets and making connections to other services.SQL Azure is the same set of principles applied to databases, but we’ll come to that in a moWhy would you build a service like this, well highly a highly redundant solution with a couple of web instances, some compute, some storage could cost less than $500 per year to run… I used to run a system that could do similar levels of scale for a bank and that cost a lot more than 42 pounds per month
