3. Our film opening begins with the protagonist’s door ringing. She then proceeds opening it but there’s no one on the other side. This immediately sets up an enigma code, keeping the audience engaged and questioning who initially rang the door.

FROM OUR SECONDARY RESEARCH WE FOUND THAT THE EXPECTATIONS FOR HORROR/SLASHER FILMS WERE: It generally contain high levels of violence, blood and gore and almost always feature a group of teenagers as protagonists. The antagonist is a killer, often wearing a mask, who kills the protagonists one by one throughout the course of the film Therefore, in order to attract our audience we conveyed these convention in our opening through the use of enigma codes and foreshadowing.
