Cricket World Cup 2015 seems to have set all platforms of entertainment on fire. So much so, that the social media space is overflowing with likes, comments, follows, tweets and more.
We did a social media analysis of which team wins the social media World Cup, and the results were astounding. Cut throat competition between the teams is a pleasure to watch.
2. HIGHLIGHTS:
• Australia and New Zealand are Hosting Cricket World Cup
for the second time(1992). England to host 2019 WC
followed by Indian in 2022.
• The number of Fans on Cricket World Cup page of
Facebook has increased to 5.5M with an average weekly
growth of 0.16M i.e ~ 3.1%. India has the highest number of
Fans on Facebook (22M). Bangladesh stands second with 5M
Fans. Scotland has lowest number of Fans (19K).
• Sachin Tendulkar - Brand Ambassador for 2015 Cricket
World Cup, had proposed to have 25 Teams. ICC had
initially thought of 10 Teams. However, with associate teams
opposition they reiterated to conduct World cup with 14
Teams.
• Afghanistan played its debut World Cup this time. The 6
Associate Members with ODI Status are Ireland,
Afghanistan, Scotland, UAE, Hong Kong, Papua New
Guinea. Hong Kong and Guinea were not qualified further.
• 5 successful chases for 300+ Score. Ireland has successfully
chased 3 times of which 2 has come against Test Playing
Nations (England and West Indies).

98% and an highest engagement of 0.75% on Twitter beating
other Associate Members (Ireland, Scotland, UAE) of ICC playing
the Cricket World Cup 2015.
• Team India has the highest number of fan followers on
Twitter. However, it has the lowest PPI of 29% compared to all
other Teams.
• Star Sports’ ‘Mauka Mauka’ campaign resonated
exceptionally well among World Cup fans yielding a cumulative
of 7.9 million views across the five videos shared on YouTube.
