1. Outline of the programme
With the banking crisis being a thing of the past, many banks have once again started to
place added emphasis on their bread and butter – extending loans to customers. These
credits get financed in large part through other customers, who make deposits at the
bank in the form of investments. TOPSIM – easyBanking focuses on these general
activities to establish an overview of a banks daily operation. In the simulation,
participants assume the role of General Manager at a medium sized Bank, which places a
strong focus on its Credit and Investment decisions.
Overall, the simulation offers participants a first look into the various success factors of a
bank, while also offering a glimpse at the many risk factors associated with the credit
market.
2. Groups: Communication before the Finance Week via email
2 students from KHLeuven have been dedicated as CREW. They have to contact your
students and give them information before their arrival: e.g. information about the youth
hostel, bus services … The guest students should be stimulated to reply to the mails of
the Belgian students.
The crew will also pick up the students on Monday 17th
at the youth hostel to
accompany everybody to the Department of Business Studies from the University College
of Leuven. The bus station is at walking distance.
3. Optional city visit to Bruges
For the city visit on Friday March 21th
, 2014 at least 1 lecturer from KHLeuven will be
waiting for you in the railway station of Leuven. Please register for this trip on the
registration form.
4. Presentation partner institutions
Everyone is curious to know more about the country where the others come from.
Students from every institution have to prepare a presentation about their country, their
school ... . This presentation can take about 5 minutes. Please ask your students to
send a short powerpoint presentation by the latest on March 10th
to
siem.deruijter@khleuven.be
The students will give the presentation on Monday, during the evening session. We also
invite you to bring along some (not too much) local food that we can taste during that
particular session.
Thursday evening pictures of the week will be projected during dinner (prepared by the
crew).
