introduce you to the numbers
from 11-20. If there is a

In German, the numbers from 13-19 all
end in ZEHN (dreizehn…etc.)
6. You know how to count to 10 in German. What
do you notice when you take away the “zehn”
in the following German numbers?
thirteen = dreizehn
fourteen = vierzehn
fifteen = fünfzehn
sixteen = sechzehn
seventeen = siebzehn
eighteen = achtzehn
nineteen = neunzehn
7. Except for sechzehn (16) and siebzehn (17), all of
the numbers in the teens are formed starting with
a number from 3 to 9 and then adding “zehn.”
(Notice that the number 16 is “sechzehn,” not
sechszehn,” and number 17 is “siebzehn,” not
“siebenzehn.”)
thirteen = dreizehn
fourteen = vierzehn
fifteen = fünfzehn
sixteen = sechzehn
seventeen = siebzehn
eighteen = achtzehn
nineteen = neunzehn

you are finished, turn it in to your
teacher.
11. Then ask your teacher for 10 new
notecards and create flashcards
for the numbers 11-20. Practice
these numbers with a partner from
German to English and English to
German.
