1. How effective is the
combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
2. I believe the music video, album and poster go together
very well.
We have the theme, which is also the album name, Multiple
Personality. In the music video you see myself play
narrative and performance. In the performance aspect I
play 3 different characters, plus use split screens to
show my narrative character is different again. This links
really well with the theme “multiple personality”.
Our album the cover contains 4 shots of my face doing
different expressions. Each picture is a different colour
too, and is meant to be spoofing “The Best Of Blur”
album cover, yet still sticking to our theme. Throughout
the album you see midshots of me on each page, again
doing different expressions. We did however use the
same picture of me inside the album on the poster. I
believe using pictures from the same shoot in the album
and on the poster links them well. We did cut out the
background on the poster however, so it stands out
more.
3. The music video use’s Paddington Bear a lot however we
decided to omit him from our ancillary task. This was
because the album was by me, and didn’t want people to
believe it was just a single. We wanted both the ancillary
and video similar but slightly different so it doesn’t all
look the same.
4. I believe by looking at the pictures inside that it is not a
serious album such as Adele’s 21. She uses a lot of sad
pictures which suits her music, however as most of my
songs are upbeat we tried to reflect that in the pictures
showing different but quirky emotions. When researching
posters and album many used images from their album,
or a big version of their album cover. An example of this
is Plan B who had a picture of himself, similar to the
picture on the album cover. I believe the humour used in
the pictures match the humour used in the music video.
