 Site of functional communication between neurons is
called as Synapse.

4. Synaptic transmission
 Transfer of information across synapse from
presynaptic neuron to postsynaptic neuron is called
synaptic transmission.

7. Mechanism
 Action potential spread over presynaptic terminal
Memberane
 Membrane depolarization
 Ca diffuses into presynaptic terminal
 Ca binds at release site(specific protein molecule on
the inside surface of presynaptic membrane)

8.  Synaptic vesicles bind with release site.
 Neurotransmitter released into synaptic cleft by
exocytosis.
 Neurotransmitter binds with receptor protein on
postsynaptic membrane.
