- Where, when and how we work has changed dramatically. The reach of business has broadened beyond the office and blurred traditional work hours. Gone are the days when professional work was confined to a traditional 9-to-5 office. This shift is being driven in large part by increasingly sophisticated mobile devices that tap into cloud services, giving us the power of communicating and computing virtually anywhere business or life takes us. The reality is that it’s often better for business and better for employees to have the productivity and flexibility that go hand in hand with a mobile workforce. Teams and vendors are dispersed globally and even locally as more companies are finding benefits of a more fluid workforce, such as telecommuting options and reduced need to provide employees a fixed workstation.

The print job leaves the BlackBerry smartphone and travels through a secure BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and Mobile Data System, which encrypts the data. From the BES, attached documents go to the HP ePrint application hosted on your secure server, then processed and rendered for printing. The mobile user receives an e-mail notification when the print job is completed—and an error message if it did not. Unlike with other solutions, your data NEVER leaves the enterprise when printing to your company’s networked printers. It’s as secure as your company’s cloud network. The e-mail and/or attachments print, and the user receives an e-mail notification that it printed successfully. This feature does not have a search function, but IT can push printer e-mail addresses to employees using a virtual card or other means. The level of security with e-mail forwarding depends on the corporate e-mail application.
- The HP ePrint Enterprise solution is offered through HP Managed Print Services as a technology solution from Document and Workflow Services. This feature—which enables easy, secure mobile printing virtually anytime, anywhere—is offered as a contractual service available to enterprise businesses. With a contract for the solution, you will get a pre-sales qualification assessment, access to the HP ePrint application through your secure server, and up to 5,000 HP ePrint Enterprise User Client-based licenses. From the back seat of a taxi, she decides to print the lengthy, graphic-intensive document to study on her way to her next meeting. BlackBerry in hand, she first selects the e-mail with the attachment and hits the Print button. She selects Public print option and the BlackBerry’s GPS searches for printers nearest her. She selects a location from the list and receives notice that the printing was successful, along with the code she will need to retrieve the print job. The location’s address appears with options to call or display a map. She selects the map option and finds the bookstore one block away. Within minutes, the executive has the sales forecast hard copy she needs to review in greater detail and make quick decisions.
- With HP ePrint, mobile professionals can send documents from their BlackBerry directly to their HP ePrint-enabled home printer, closing the gap between the corporate and home office. HP’s new line of e-Print enabled printers for home and business can be assigned a simple and unique e-mail address that allows users to deliver a print the same way they would send an e-mail message. With just a few clicks, mobile professionals can have documents waiting for them to review at their home office printer, saving time and increasing convenience. They can also keep in touch with family and friends while on the road by sending photos or other personal documents directly to home printers. Users can print from their personal accounts, such as Google mail, only to public print locations and HP ePrint web-connected e-all-in-ones. Security of home office printers is maintained through whitelists—a register of entities that are allowed permissions to print—and spam filters. Notes: 1.
