2. 1. What is Greenbor?
Greenbor is, simply, a social network on which participants communicate with each other by
sending short messages (world calls it micro blogging, blogs that are 140 character or less and we at
Greenbor call it “In Touch” e.g. Send me an “in touch” or “in touch” me). The home page looks
like the following:
The tag line at the top of Greenbor asks, “What are you up to?” Answering that question literally
and constantly – as many Greenbor users seem to – seems like an exercise in narcissism (at worst)
or futility (at best). Reading millions of such “In Touch” post on the other hand, seems like an
exercise in voyeurism.
Greenbor is not Twitter or Facebook or Myspace. Greenbor's purpose is to provide a good social
networking community (like Facebook or Myspace), a micro blogging space (like Twitter), and in
addition to it to provide a way for the local neighborhood users to write and read reviews about local
services and businesses. Users can write and read reviews about anything from their favorite hole in
the wall restaurant to a great downtown club. Local businesses can use Greenbor to publish SMS
coupon to the neighborhood, coupons are not advertisement but a good savings for the
neighborhood; in top of that these coupons cannot be printed but can be sent to the users cell phone.
No paper and hence the name Greenbor (Green Loving Neighbor).
If you think Greenbor as a micro-blogging platform, Blogging, of course, is simply a way of easily
publishing your content on the Internet. Greenbor simplifies blogging by forcing messages to be
140 characters or less, an artifact of its origin as a cell phone messaging-based communication
platform. The strict size limit forces your content to be pithy and prevents you from over-
engineering your content.
Greenbor is a spam-proof permission-based marketing system. Because the only people who get
your messages are those who chose to be “In Touch” with you, spam doesn't get very far on
Greenbor. If sombody is “In Touch” with you, and you abuse that trust by spamming your Greenbor
3. network, pretty soon the person you're spamming will remove you from his contact, in other words,
he/she will stop being “In Touch” with you and no longer receive your messages.
4. 2) Setting up your Greenbor account
