We asked the community to dream up the most innovative, imaginative ideas on how to improve the future of Los Angeles. Here is
what we learned:
1. ANGELENOS COLLABORATE.
The collective spirit of Angelenos was evident, as a majority of submissions proposed collaboration with others, with nearly a
quarter of the proposals coming from an existing partnership.
2. ANGELENOS ARE EAGER AND READY TO TEST NEW IDEAS.
44 percent of submissions were pilot stage projects, testing a new idea on a small scale in order to prove feasibility of a concept.
3. ANGELENOS HAVE A SIGNIFICANT APPETITE FOR CHANGE IN THE WAY WE CONNECT
WITH EACH OTHER.
73 percent of submissions sought to increase / improve Angelenosโ€™ daily connections with one another (where, when, and how).

When we think of cities, we think of buildings and skyscrapers. But cities are primarily
about people. Theyโ€™re about where people go and where they meet โ€“ thatโ€™s the core
of how cities work. And for the people, even more important than the buildings are the
public spaces in between them. That is what makes cities come alive. The central
question I ask myself is, โ€˜What makes a public space work? What is it about unsuccessful
places that keeps people away?โ€™
