3. What I found out from the negative
feedback
“Include more characters”
Looking back at the trailer I agree with this statement, I think if we included more characters then it would be more interesting
and it adds depth.
“Remove the moon”
Looking back at the poster I see the viewers point as it can look odd but I added it for a reason which happened to be because our
production company was called ‘Ancient Moon Productions’.
“Include more reviews”
Looking back at the poster I believe we could have added more reviews other than a star rating from The Guardian as it could
have enticed the audience more into watching the trailer. I think other than buzz words on the magazine more reviews would have
worked better.
“More speaking roles”
I believe this statement is fair however we didn’t aim to include any dialogue as we wanted to keep it a secret hence ‘Our Little
Secret’ as the film masthead.
“Makeup could be better”
I agree with this, the trailer makeup was good however on the magazine and poster you can see the characters mouth
peeling off which wasn’t good as it lost its effect, I would change this in the future if I do another trailer.
4. What I have learnt
From the audience feedback I have leaned that they have enjoyed our trailer, I am overall pleased with
the outcome. I am glad we re shot some of the scenes as some looked out of place when we started
preparing and editing our trailer. The overall outcome is better than expected I think myself, my partner
Lilly and the viewers can agree the best part of the trailer would defiantly be the jump scare at the end.
Many of the viewers jumped and agreed that it was the best part, they said “The end of the trailer was
the scariest, so I think that part was the best.” Many of the viewers answered the question “if you could
add any feature to our product what would it be and why?” they responded with “to find out the
ending”.
I have learned that preparation is vital, if you are rushing then you wont get the best results, we did rush
but we managed to get the results we worked for. When adding the sound effects I believe that we
chose some really good ones as they sounded realistic for example when the main character Joseph is
falling behind his friends when walking home from school, we added footsteps so it added the effect of
them walking.
Additionally I learned the difference between all the different transitions, I believe that this was key as I
was just adding fade to blacks however when we started the flashbacks off we decided to change the
fade to black to the fade of white so it looked more realistic and more professional.
5. Conclusion
Overall looking back at the audience feedback I believe we received some really
positive feedback. I am pleased with the audience rating us 30 and over for the
trailer and 8’s and above for the magazine and poster. I think the trailer was the
main concern of ours as we didn’t think it was long enough however the audience
disagrees and said it was lengthy enough.
I have learnt a lot from this feedback and I have learned a lot from my time in a2
media as I have created a poster design, magazine design and a trailer along with
my partner. I believe we could have planned more however from our time in as
media I believe we have progressed a lot which I am proud of.
