Interaction designers craft experiences by curating the flow of information within contexts that aim to focus attention and interest. Subtle psychological details can dramatically transform an experience. Experimental results from behavioral economics spotlight opportunities for improving the dynamics of an interaction: The presentation frame can harness intrinsically motivating cues, drive engagement, and enable people to develop behavioral patterns that harmonize with their deepest aspirations. http://www.baychi.org/calendar/20120214/

Distance Teaching & Learning Conference Information Session: Are Games and Simulations a Good 'Fit' for Your Curriculum? Authors: Penny Ralston-Berg and Eric B. Bauman The conversation was very active as we discussed strategies and key questions to ask in determining what makes a good curricular “fit” for games and simulations. Examples were shown from a variety of subject matter and the audience had a chance to walk through the process of determining fit based on learning objectives. We also stepped out side the instructional alignment and talked about the value of "ridiculous games" for stress relief and cognitive down time between other intense tasks.

CIS502 discussion post responses. Disaster Recovery Disaster recovery has been the topic of study this week. What do you think is the most difficult and expensive disaster to plan for? Do you think companies plan adequately? In your experience (or research if you have no experience) what aspect is most lacking in corporate planning? Why do you think this is? What would you do to advise leadership in your company to prepare for a disaster? Be specific and explain your thought processes on this subject based on your learning. What would you do to advise leadership in your company to prepare for a disaster? Be specific and explain your thought processes on this subject based on your learning. I believe a natural disaster is the most expensive disaster to plan for. Natural disasters could occur at any point and time and location has a lot to do with it. Depending on the businesses geographic location it may have to deal with floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, electrical storms etc. The companies that I have had the pleasure to work for are located globally and have well established disaster recovery plans for natural disasters known to happen in that region. Because of the unpredictable nature natural disasters bring, not one company has a disaster recovery plan that is readily available for every situation. Funding for possible disasters that have a low chance of occurring may be a lacking aspect in corporate planning, since at the end of the day in business investments must make sense. Also advising leadership on shortages or delays of necessary materials can keep bandages, disinfectant, and medicine cabinets up to date in case of an unexpected emergencies. lease write all your response in a single MS Word document covering all questions and exercises, and paste (do not attach) the screen shots into the document in-line with your text. It makes it much easier to read -- and grade. Please include screen shots of each step, not just one screen shot before or one after. D.1. How do we assign a labor RESOURCE (human resource) to a task in MS Project? Describe AND provide a screen shot of the steps. D.2. What are labor COSTS in MS project? How do we assign labor COSTS to a task in MS Project? Describe AND provide a screen shot of the steps. D.3. What are non-labor costs in MS Project? How do we assign non-labor costs to a task in MS Project? Describe AND provide a screen shot of the steps. D.4. There are different kinds of non-labor costs, including expendables like supplies, one-time fixed costs, and unit rate costs (e.g., seven widgets at $13.00 each). What terms does MS Project use for these? What is the difference in how to assign these non-labor costs in MS Project? - D.1 and D.3 Resources and Costs - Student Group A: Last names A - L - D.2 and D.4 Resources and Costs - Student Group B: Last names M - Z Note: Please carefully note which exercises you are to do. That was not a typo. The exercises you are to do are not consecutive. Rather, both groups include both labor and non-labor questions/exercises. Group A is to do the odd numbered exercises (D.1 and D.3) and Group B is to do the even numbered exercises (D.2, and D.4). Important Note: These are individual homework assignments, not team projects. However, half the class (student Group A) will do exercises D.1 and D.3 and the other half of the class (student Group B) will do exercises D.2 and D.4. Nobody needs to do both exercises. The student groups (A and B) are the same groups as those used for the Week 2 homework and are not related to the student ITP project teams. Remember the condition, the caveat, the "catch": Everyone must commit to read all the questions, and everyone must commit to read all the answers that I post after grading is complete. Anyone does not commit and follow through with this reading must then answer all the questions. To reiterate: this MS Project homework assignment is not a team assignment but is an individual homework assignment. Systems and the Fifth Discipline Organizational Learning Disabilities Most companies are poor learners. Trouble is often very apparent, yet ignored. Let’s identify the seven leaning disabilities. Organizational Learning Disabilities We are trained to be loyal to our jobs We “become” the job What do you do for a living? Most describe their daily task. Not the PURPOSE of the greater enterprise NASA janitor Most feel they have little or no influence in the system Responsibilities are limited to the boundaries of their position. Detroit vs. Japan 1. AI is disrupting education. Students, teachers and academics can access software that writes essays, summarises scientific texts, produces lesson plans, engages in conversations, and drafts academic papers. These are already being embedded into office tools and will soon be interconnected into an AI-enhanced social network. I will introduce the capabilities and limitations of current generative AI and discuss how it is transforming education, including emerging policy. I will suggest new roles for AI in supporting teaching, learning and assessment. Rather than seeing AI solely as a challenge to traditional education, we can prepare students for a future where AI is a tool for creativity, to be operated with great care and awareness of its limitations.

A Transgenic animal is one that carries a foreign gene that has been deliberately inserted into its genome. The foreign gene are inserted into the germ line of the animal, so it can be transmitted to the progeny. Transgenic animals are animals that are genetically altered to have traits that mimic symptoms of specific human pathologies. They provide genetic model of various human disease which are important in understanding disease and development of new target.
