2. INT. LEO’S BEDROOM
The scene opens in a bedroom. There is a young man lying up
in the bed with his headphones plugged into his ears. On the
desk by his bedside is a laptop. Across the room is a
television which is playing a news clip about the war on
crime. The young man is of average build with black hair
parted in the front and a light goatee on his chin. He bears
the look of anxiety and nervousness.
An instant message pops up on his laptop computer screen. He
catches notice and rolls over towards the keyboard to
respond. The following conversation ensues.
STRANGER
Hello, Leo.
LEO
Why do you keep messaging me?
STRANGER
I want to show you something.
LEO
Tell me who you are.
STRANGER
Open up.
At the receive of the message, there is a knock on the
bedroom door that alarms Leo.
LEO
Who’s there?
No one answers Leo’s call, but the knocks continue. He gets
up from his bed and slowly makes his way to the door.
LEO
Hello?
The knocks continue. Leo reaches the doorknob and begins to
twist it and the door is immediately pushed open. Leo
stumbles backwards and onto the floor.
STRANGER
Crime shows are not the way to live
your life, Leo.
Leo slowly clambers back to his feet scratching the back of
his head. The stranger is standing in front of the
television smiling.

LEO
What are you doing here? Who are
you?
STRANGER
(slowly turns to face Leo
grinning)
I am Transformeous. And I’m here to
help you discover the truth.
Transformeous walks over to Leo’s desk here he has a few
books lying in a pile.
TRANSFORMEOUS
I see you’ve been doing a bit of
reading, yes Leo?
Transformeous picks up two books from Leo’s desk. They are
famous Media Theory books.
LEO
Yes actually, "The Hunger Games."
It’s rather good.
Both characters put down their respective books and
Transformeous walks over to look out the window, but does
not turn up the blinds in front of it.
TRANSFORMEOUS
What do you see when you look
outside, Leo?
LEO
That crime is everywhere, and its
safer to just sit inside and learn
about on the news.
TRANSFORMEOUS
Do you know what I see Leo?
LEO
Blinds?
TRANSFORMEOUS
I see a safe place that has been
viewed as scary and frightening do
the very same television you watch.
LEO
But why would the television and
the internet lie? they’re the most
accurate source of media, aside
from the Bible. They’re all truth.

TRANSFORMEOUS
No Leo, they’re not. But I’m here
to help you discover the truth, if
you wish.
LEO
How?
TRANSFORMEOUS
Please, have a seat.
Transformeous pulls up a chair for Leo and then one for
himself as they sit facing each other. Leo continues to look
anxious and on edge. Transformeous looks calm and
controling.
TRANSFORMEOUS
Have you ever felt that you weren’t
in control. That a higher power was
telling you what to think.
LEO
Yes all the time.
TRANSFORMEOUS
That you are blind to what you
could actually see if they weren’t
in the way.
LEO
Yes. Thats Linda to a T
TRANSFORMEOUS
(confused)
Linda?
LEO
My ex. very dominant and abusive.
Always in control and telling me
what to think.
TRANSFORMEOUS
Not what I meant. I can’t tell you
the truth about the world Leo. I
can only show you
Leo looks in awe and in disbelief.
TRANSFORMEOUS
In my hands I hold two objects to
help you discover the truth. You
may only select one.

LEO
Why can’t I have both?
TRANSFORMEOUS
Because then I won’t have one.
LEO
Fair.
TRANSFORMEOUS
In one hand, a map. This map will
help you uncover territory you
never thought you’d find and guide
you to see the truth.
LEO
Seems pirate-y. and the other?
TRANSFORMEOUS
A lens. Looking through this lense
will help you see more clearly the
reality of the world we live in
disguised by the news reports you
watch. The choice is yours.
Leo puts his hand over. He starts thinking very heavily.
Then puts hand over the lens.
LEO
Will this mean that I have to where
glasses?
TRANSFORMEOUS
No.
Leo reaches down and takes the lens out of Transformeous’
hand. He puts it over his eye.
LEO
Nothing looks different?
TRANSFORMEOUS
Look outside.
EXT. TEMPLE’S CAMPUS
Leo is walking up and downt the campus looking at crime that
used to scare him then looking at it again through the lense
he has been given and now he sees that the crime is actually
acts of kindness, that has been disguised by the media to
make him think the world was scary.
