Technological Innovation / successful commercialization of technical ideas is enabled by Leadership in emerging technologies, Vision of emerging markets and a Strategy to balance the two Healthy environment that nurtures the growth of out-of-the-box ideas Focused effort to flow the Idea into Innovation I have focused my efforts, over the last ten years, on flowing simple technical ideas into technology innovations. In the process, I evolved a SIMPLE innovation methodology based on TRIZ tools. I could introduce a few fresh ideas in materials technology, patent those ideas and, more importantly, could successfully transition some of these simple inventions into an innovative product.

Each one of us here play a critical role in converting Ideas to Innovations Technology Leaders – Visionaries - Innovation Strategy – balancing the pull & push from emerging technologies & markets Invention Development Managers – Incubators - grow the innovation potential of the Idea. Inventors – Connectors - bridge the gap between invention & innovation All 3 play a key role in Creating & Sustaining an Innovation Ecosystem
Five-Whys Nine Windows TRIZ Function Map TRIZ Ideal Final Result
What critical problem or technical contradiction does the Idea solve? Proof-of-concept experiments to confirm technical feasibility Use Statistical Design of Experiments to cover the Design Space & minimize experiments Who is the Customer & what is his benefit?
Identify white spaces in IP landscape & focus research on those gaps Integrate IP Strategy with Technology Strategy Map the Product to Patents Aim to create a patent portfolio rather than patenting Inventions as they come Study Technology Evolution Trends and Use TRIZ Evolution Potential to predict What’s Next
