2. HIGH above the city, on a tall column, stood the statue of the Happy Prince. He was gilded all over with thin leaves of fine gold, for eyes he had two bright sapphires, and a large red ruby glowed on his sword-hilt.

3. Mum! I want the moon! Why can't you be like the Happy Prince ? He never cries for anything… He looks like an angel!

4. How do you know it? You’ve never seen one of them! Ah! But I have seen them in my dreams

5. One day,one little swallow arrived in the city… His friends had gone to Egypt before…

6. But he stayed there, because he was in love with the nicest moth in the river

7. But as she never paid attention to him... ...he left

8. It was so cold when he arrive to the city... ... that he decided to look for a place to sleep

9. It seems a nice place to sleep! When he saw the statue of the prince…

19. The following morning, all the wisemen of the city decided to put out the Prince’s Statue as it was ugly and old…… So they melt the iron to make a new statue. They threw the Swallow away…

20. But the Prince’s heart couldn’t be melted by the fire. And it was thrown away with the Swallow…

21. One day, God asked to one of His Angels to bring Him the two nicest things in the Earth

22. The angel brought him the Prince’s heart and the Swallow’s body. And God said “ You have rightly chosen. In my garden of Paradise this little bird shall sing forever, and in my city of gold the Happy Prince shall praise me.
