2. Video Structure
• Decide what style you
want to go for:
Talking to camera,
voice over, text, stock
footage
• If you need inspiration,
look at TV ads
13. Camera
• Decide what you are going
to use: smart phone,
camcorder, DSLR, webcam
• Play around with your
camera, experiment!
• If you are unsure,
automatic settings are your
friend
14. Camera
• Check your settings:
• Frame rate: 24 fps, 25 fps
• Resolution: SD/HD,
854x480, 1280x720,
1920x1080
• Exposure
• Focus
• White Balance
16. Performance
• Speak slowly, with plenty of
pauses. This gives you
room to edit
• Don’t worry if you mess up
a line, you can just do it
again
17. Sound
• If using DSLR, you’ll need a
separate sound recorder
• Make sure you run audio
checks
• Audio peaking: never higher
than -6 db
• If you can hear your voice
distorting, it’s too loud. If you
have too much ambient hiss,
it’s too quiet
• Maintain a steady volume of
speech
18. Sound
• Music
• Background music can
help cover dodgy parts in
your audio
• Royalty free music
