- There are two primary varieties or ways why wind erodes. It is due to the process of Abrasion and deflationAbrasion is the grinding and wearing down of rocks surfaces by the other rocks or sand particles.A Deflation is a removal of Clay, Silts, and Sand particles from the land surfaces by the wind. It often produces a shallow depression on the land surface called the blowout.
- Wind Transportation is the winds ability to shape the earth surface. The Particles are transported by the wind through suspension, saltation and creeping. Suspension occurs when a very fine dirt and dust particles are lifted in the wind. It can be transported extremely long distance. This particle is transported less than 0.2 mm and scatters them as a dust. Saltation is the largest grains of sand are rolled or skipped along the surface. It travels 4x longer distance than in height.Creep is the large particles which are too heavy to be lifted into the air are moved through a process called surface creep. In this process, the particles are rolled across the surface after coming into contact with the soil particles in saltation.
