PrIoR KnOwLeDgE Water resorces The U.S. Geological Survey collects information needed to understand the Nation's water resources. They are useful or potentially useful to HUMANS. Uses of water include agricultural , industrial , household , recreational and environmental activities. Fresh water is a renewable resource .

Hydroelectric power comes from water driving a water turbine connected to a generator. Hydroelectric: pertaining to the generation and distribution of electricity derived from the energy of falling water or any other hydraulic source.

If a reservoris is kept fuller than it would otherwise be for recreation, then the water retained could be categorized as recreational usage. Reservoris: a natural or artificial place where water is collected and stored .
