teacher is supposed to send an email out of
our assignments or how I'm supposed to
know what I need to do?
ï Go on to your blackboard! All class information

ï My experience says that you will receive your check
around February 14th, just in time for Valentines Day
28. 4. Academic
Questions about
Instructors and
Classes
ï Anyone know of a good psychology 1010
professor for the fall term.
ï Does anyone know of a good a&pII
teacher to take?
ï Anybody else taking intro biochem online
with Smith? Have some questions since he
doesn't seem to answer them...
29. Ashley
Biology is going to be the death of my perfect gpa! I'm going to be lucky to
pass the class much less get an A!! Are there any biology whiz's out there that
want to tutor or study together?
Ashley
I really need to pass this class!!
Katie
I could help you. I am on campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting around
11:00 until my class starts at 1:30. My class gets out at 5:50 and I can stay late
sometimes if that works better for you.
Ashley
My class is in Farmington, I don't take any classes in bentonville
Jennifer
What are you having trouble understanding?
Ashley
Well let's see.. Lol all of it? Right now we are going over polymers and
monomers, as well as cell structure etc. I have always had trouble with
science, for some reason it just doesn't make any sense to me. I have kept a
4.0 gpa thus far in college, but I can't seem to "get" science.
30. Jennifer
Who do you have and what book are you using? Polymers are just many
monomers. They are broken apart by hydrolysis. ( using water). There is a lot to
learn in cells. It does get easier . If you have any specific questions feel free to
ask me . You can send to my address at âŠ. Have you had a test yet? I am a
science major. I have taken POB, chemistry, organic chemistry, A&P I and 2
and I am now in microbiology. I have aced everything so far.
Ashley
I have Margaret Britain and we use the living world book. Thanks so much! I
wish I'd asked sooner! Our first test is tomorrow so we'll see how it goesđł
Jennifer My first micro test is tomorrow. I am sure you will do fine. You have not
maintained a. 4.0 for nothing. Science is just a new vocabulary. Good luck!
Shawna I took biology my first semester and hated it. I was lucky I passed with a
C. And I adored my teacher. But since it was a pre-req for A&P, and they don't
really look at that grade when applying for the programs, I didn't worry with it. I
love/d A&P 1 & 2 and didn't have trouble in either course! Good luck!
Cherie
Study your quizzes inside and out. Get with a few others and look at their
quizzes. I am not a science person either but passed with a high A
32. RESEARCH FINDINGS: What is the

January 1, 2013 to January 1, 2014 the number of likes increased
Benefits â
There was really no other virtual âspaceâ for students to connect this way previous to the app.
Students created their own Q & A type activities.
Staff from a variety of departments were able to answer questions as they came up.
Textbook buying and selling was a real need. We are learning about student needs â what are they coming up with themselves lets us know where the gaps are.
Generating Users
Used physical rewards to get students to join up.
Posters, table tents, flyers, postcards. There were rewards like coffee cards, USB drive wristbands, stress balls, etc. Festive, engaging.
Battle of the Bands and Battle of the Artwork was very successful and created buzz, but was not sustaining.
Challenges included:
Getting students to sign up for the app was an almost exclusively in-person initiative â did we really know who our audience was?
Campus-based student initiatives where students played games and won prizes when they signed up.
A lot of initial sign-ups, but less continuing usage.
The research seemed to be gauging the success of this one specific Facebook App. There are other methods for engaging those students with social media tools that are not vendor-specific.
EPICC â Edugaming Positively Impacting College Completion â an integrated approach to new media tools in virtual spaces to increase engagement and graduation
Moving forward, social learning and social media will be a big part of the strategy for engaging students in virtual environments, but not the only strategy.
Exploring all of thes elements â one strategy is not formally adopted.
Institution is ramping up to be more engaged via social media in general.
Learning Management System Review â Social Learning & Media is one part of it
Integrated approach with push and pull âstreamsâ is necessary via a variety of tools
What we term social learning includes connecting socially, connecting via content, curating content, co-creating content etc.
How are we fostering online presence for that connection to take place â what spaces will that occur in
Virtual badging is part of that online presence
If youâre thinking about social media tools â
Concept of multiple streams
Product independent or agnostic (internal, locked down tools? External, networked tools? Both?)
How can you meet students where they are
Virtual support services â case management approach using social media to connect with students and refer them to the help they need
Introducing students to each other and then getting out of the way â safe spaces
Dichotomy of 1) starting with the end in mind â what is your specific purpose? 2) Letting students determine the tools
Sustainability â not just of cost but also of time. Integrate social media tools so that one will flow to the other, there are multiple integrated, interactive streams.
Connects to â keeping spaces active by seeding them
