Congestion in Metrocity:
By 2030, more than 60 percent of the world's
population will be living in urban areas - Chris Borroni-
Bird, GM's director of advanced technology vehicle
concepts
With the number of vehicles on the planet expected to
grow from 600 million today to 1.5 billion by 2030, so
we see electric vehicles as the best alternative, given
concerns of foreign oil dependency, oil prices and
climate change.
5. We designed our car to meet the challenges of getting
around major metropolises as urban populations swell.
The 1.5-meter-long vehicle is three times shorter than
a typical car and weighs less than 500 kilograms, one
third as much as most cars on the road today.
The SI-V relies on dynamic stabilization technology to
keep its balance
6. It doesn't emit any pollutants or climate change-
promoting carbon dioxide. That is because it is a
Hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle.
Our car is powered by Hydrogen-Lithium ion batteries
that can last up to 40 kilometers between charges, and
the vehicle is designed to be plugged into a standard wall
outlet for recharging.
In fuel, Average mileage is 44.4 miles [71.5 kilometers]
per kilogram [of compressed hydrogen gas], which is

7. SI-V is designed to use high-speed wireless
connectivity and GPS navigation to automatically select
the fastest Alternate route, based on real-time traffic
conditions, highlighting construction zones, slow-
moving roadways, and traffic accident by the new
"High Definition Traffic" system that monitors the
electronic signals that are exchanged between mobile
phones and the remote antenna towers that serve
them, creating an accurate, real-time picture of where
the phones are and how fast they are moving.
HDT measures the traffic speed and location by
measuring the speed and location of phones within
vehicles.
8. This information is broadcast via FM signal, cell phone
towers, or via satellite. These signals are then interpreted
and displayed as part of SI-V’s in-car GPS display,
showing where traffic is slow in yellow or red.
We use a compatible GPS device, plus one of these
means of receiving traffic data signals:
A special FM receiver.(Rs.5000)
A mobile phone or mobile device with data
service.(Rs.2000)
An XM satellite receiver.
Our traffic services rely on a mobile device with Bluetooth
and a wireless data connection. The mobile device
receives traffic information and updates it to the GPS in-
car unit via the wireless Bluetooth connection.
9. Our car also equips with sensors for autonomous
functioning—helping drivers park and even avoid
collisions.
The vehicle's body and canopy are constructed from
carbon fiber, custom tinted plastics, and acrylic, which
the company says makes it light but durable.
