4. Nicky Thammavong
Client Relations Director, WorkSmart
I joined BB WorkSmart in December 2010 as part of the
Senior Management Team, and we were, at that time, setting
up a new Balfour Beatty OpCo. My remit was to design and
implement the Service Management framework (development of
the initial Client Engagement process, KPI’s and
performance reporting/review processes, Issue Management
process, Business Activity Review processes and the Joint
Business Planning processes.)
My focus in my current role, and in previous roles I held
both in IBM and Procter & Gamble, is the Client; if you
don’t have a client who is satisfied and confident in your
ability to provide service, you don’t have a business, so
its critical that a good relationship is built. At the
same time we need to ensure that Client expectations are
clearly set with regards to the service they should expect,
and expectation management is a critical and ongoing
process.
Being part of the Future Talent Community has been
fantastic – its given me access to a wide range of very
interesting and experienced people and I have built a
strong network within the Division, and it has challenged
me to think and work differently. It really is a fantastic
opportunity.

Divisional Innovation Leadership Team (ILT) member
I joined BB WorkSmart in May 2011 as a Procurement
Category Manager in the
newly-formed Supply Chain Management Team. Prior to
joining Balfour Beatty I had worked for 11 years in
