Opened first store May 13, 1961 in Ottawa


     Expanded in 1969 into neighboring Quebec

 1977 brought Chez Tante Marie to the franchise with
              two locations in Quebec

2001 finally expanded beyond Ontario and Quebec into
                      Manitoba

2003 moved east and west into Alberta, Saskatchewan
               and New Brunswick

   2007 brought stores in Nova Scotia and B.C. and
stretching the franchise coast to coast across Canada

     Now over 200 stores, over 7000 employees

   2011 celebrated 50 years proudly all Canadian
company providing canadians with everyday low prices

     Giant Tiger Trucking Co. established in 1987

  1990 opened footwear and clothing buying office in
                     Montreal

  1996 built 350,00sq.ft distribution center in Ottawa

Also developed Scott’s Discount Stores, an alternative
             format for smaller stores.
   Facebook is used quite well by being a professional,
    colourful, easy to navigate and informative site.
   On Facebook they ask for viewers feedback and reply in a
    timely fashion.
   Twitter just recently started Tweeting more often.
   Used to promote their products but not used regularly.
   YouTube channel (Giant Tiger TV) is neglected.
   Site is presented professionally but the content is not
    updated often, sometimes having a 3 month lapse
    between videos.
