Understanding our education system and necessity of planning career  early By Sanjay Gregory Williams HR –Manager Rhytha web solutions pvt Ltd.,
Objective What the big deal and why it important?  It is nothing new from what your parents say!!! But end of this orientation you will know why they say it The Rabbi and flood- story The background of the folk lore of Rabbi and flood- of holocaust survivors the message of god help the once who help themselves get ingrained into the thought process of a generation to help themselves they invested in education as the 1 st  step.

So what how is relevant to me?? Being Indian and following Christ 2.3 % of 1.3 billion as of now  Challenges we face in the real world What should be done? We need to understand the system, Plan ,prepare, Beat the system   Education and social empowerment is the key to succeed and the 1 st  step in that direction is to understand our education system
Understanding the Indian education system and in origins, limitation and scalability Our education is system is a British legacy 



.   English medium education: Started with in 1835 by Lord Williams Bentinck council allocating educational funds teach young Indian English Language, Sir Charles Wood approves of setting up of universities in three  presidency Bengal, Madras and Bombay. Lord Elphinstone laid the foundation stone of the  University of Madras in 1857.
Lord Macaulay Lord Macaulay (Thomas Babington Macaulay) was born on October 25, 1800, and died on December 28, 1859. Is considered the father And architect of English education. He is also the architect of the Indian penal code .  He arrived in India (Madras) on 10th June 1834 as a member of the Supreme Council of India under the onus William Bentinck was the then Governor General. Macaulay was in India, only for nearly four years, but he was destined to impact the lives of millions of Indians forever. What was the educations system he devised and why?  Why it was devised so? Opinion Survey method- Matriculation system of education  What are the merits and demerits?
Merits and Demerits Si # Merits Demerits 1 Creates a strong base on fundamental concepts No scope of  critical analysis 2 Existing system friendly limited scope of understanding the subject (native language thought process) 3 Success  can be achieved on duplication  Limited assessment capabilities inclined more to analytical side without scope of creativity 4 Can be tutored or trained as metric are well defined 5 Last has made us the back office of the world
Why plan? Plan to prepare We plan of a journey , so why not plan for a career? To plan is to prepare so we have control of the situation,. to have a idea of contingency, to prepare you mind for any eventuality. When preparation meets opportunity you get lucky –Seneca the younger 1AD Roman philosopher
Now that we have understood our education the system let see when will be the best time to plan our future careers
Starting on secondary level-Plan ,start early ,choose wisely and work toward your goal Or Starting at higher secondary level-Do what is necessary before they become critical and urgent and becomes road block in perusing your dream Or Graduation and post graduation level –Do what critical and urgent so there are regrets  Or Just do what are qualified to do and be happy with it
It is said that education is for life, career is for growth To succeed you need  LUCK  is this true? Yes!  Let me explain : to succeed in some thing you need to  LUCK LEARN UNDERSTAND CRITICALLY ANALYZE KNOW
The holy grail of fresher Every fresher wants to get selected in the campus interview But what is that  the big companies look for in a candidate for their selection process?   1 st  and detrimental factor will be  marks on distinction and consistent performance – They are called the 1 st  crop (usually taken for technical positions) The candidates with  good marks but inconsistent  performance but possessing good written and oral skills – Are also taken as 2 nd  crop (usually for support services)

To be employable you need have knowledge , functional skills, and attitude

The Christian perspective   ,[object Object],  I wish to close  by recollecting the bible parable of the  Matthew 25 :1 to 13 –ten virgins Matthew 25 : 14 to 30 the talents   Our lord showed us the way through his life . One day we all have to stand before him and we are all accountable .So be prepared.
