Talking Points: Good afternoon. Today we will be having a training on one aspect of our technology program.
Talking Points: Today we will be discussing what the Texas STaR Chart is and how the STaR Chart benefits Green Valley. We will also take a look at our data.
Talking PointsSTaR stands for School Technology and Readiness. The STaR Chart is a tool for districts, campuses, and teachers. It was developed to aid technology planning and assessing according to the Longe-Range Plan for Technology. It is broken into four areas.
Talking Points: Area I. measures how well teachers integrate technology into the content areas. Area II. measures how much teachers take initiative in progressing their own technology knowledge and skills. Area III. Measures how much support the school’s technology program has. Area IV. measure how strong the school’s infrastructure is.
Talking Points: In areas I., II., and III., we are in the developing tech category. We are advanced tech in area IV. Our goal is to be in the target tech category.
We need to use Green Valley’s data for future technology planning. It will help us determine how to budget our resources and evaluate our progress.
Talking Points: The STaR Chart is a tool we can use to self-assess and assess our campus concerning technology. In order to make further progress, we need to use this tool to measure our progress towards our goals. The final slide contains a list of helpful resources.
