The document provides costume descriptions for characters in a winter-set play with multiple acts. In Act 1, the costumes are designed to stand out against or blend into the white surroundings, reflecting each character's personality. Ariel wears red to stand out while longing for love, while Jonathan's costume is simpler. Maria and her lover Francois wear white robes while Maria's husband Frank wears plain clothes. In Act 2 at a funeral, the characters wear black with colorful undergarments, except for Francois who wears gray to stand out as taking blame. Maria wears pink/red to symbolize love and death.
2. Ariel
A young 20’s girl, madly in love and in love with the idea of a lasting, perfect love.

and bright red lipstick. I
imagine her standing out from
the stark white house.

Dark long sleeve shirt, snow
pants, black boots. I imagine
him with a simple costume
and not standing out more
than Ariel.

Silky bathrobe with a glass of
champagne in her hand. She blends
in with the white of the house and

champagne as with Maria.

appearance but more womanly
with his actions.

the lake, soppy hair, shivering
from the cold.
