Nigeria is a country in the continent of Africa. It
is in western Africa and it has a coastline that
faces south. The capital city of Nigeria is Abuja


In Nigeria the population is 168.8 million in
2012 in 2013 the population was 170 million
altogether.
The official language spoken in Nigeria is English.
But the major language spoken are Hausa,
Igbo, Fulfulde, Kanuri, Ibibio and Yoruba.


Nigerian people have different religions like us
the religion percentage’s are Muslim 50%,
Christian 40 %, indigenous beliefs 10% .
Nigeria has made considerable progress in the domain of
education. The education system in the country is
supervised by the state. There are 27 federal and stateowned polytechnics in Nigeria. The first 6 years of
primary education are mandatory in Nigeria.

Nigeria is making a steady progress in the
development of education. Many universities and
schools have been established by the state. However,
much still needs to be done.
Primary education in Nigeria is in the native language
but brings in English in the third year. Higher
Education has developed considerably over the years,
which has resulted in a healthy literacy rate


Nigerian foods are made up of a lot of
carbohydrate rich foods such as cassava, yams,
plantain, palm oil, coconut and coconut oils,
Nigerian brown beans, and rice. They also love
plantain served with rice, jollof rice served with
mio salad, fresh fish and assorted meat.
Tropical fruits like oranges, tangerines,
mangoes, pawpaw, African bread fruit,
bananas, African bush mango and carrots are
also a favourite.




The Nigerian culture is shaped by Nigeria’s
multiple ethnic groups. The country has over
50 languages and over 250 dialects and ethnic
groups. The three largest ethnic groups are the
Hausa- Fulani who are predominant in the
north, the Igbo who are predominant in the
southeast, and the Yoruba who are
predominant in the southwest.

