4. This is a screening test. It takes only about 15 minutes and a good first step if
you suspect a hearing loss or are just curious about your hearing. This test
gives only an indication whether you have a hearing loss and whether you
should come back for a full hearing assessment.
Available to adults over the age of 21, there is no charge with this check, but
an appointment is required.
5. Our hearing test is a comprehensive test battery conducted in a quality
soundproof room/booth using the latest instruments. The test battery includes:
Otoscopic examination
Pure Tone Audiometry (Air conduction and bone conduction)
Impedance Audiometry (Pressure test for middle ear function)
Speech Discrimination Test (Ability to distinguish various sounds)
In addition to this, for our clients who may require hearing aids we perform
various tests to establish hearing difficulty specifically in presence back
ground noise. This we do at no extra cost. These tests help us objectively
choose appropriate hearing aids for their needs. We test children as young as
three years of age right through to elderly.
6. This kind of assessment evaluates what the brain does with what it hears in
children from the age of 6 years old. This test is useful for determining why a
child with "normal" hearing (i.e. normal standard hearing test results), still
appears as if they have trouble hearing, particularly in difficult listening
situations, such as in the classroom.
Children with possible central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) often
present with symptoms such as frequently misinterpreting what is being said,
saying "huh" a lot, has poor listening attention, has difficulty following long
instructions, sometimes has poor language skills, often has reading and
spelling difficulties and can present with behavioural problems.
7. Ensuring that every Australian has access to better hearing is one of the federal
government’s key health priorities. The Office of Hearing Services Voucher
Scheme provides free hearing tests and hearing aids to pensioners and
veterans, which are available through accredited providers, such as The Art of
Hearing.
8. We are registered with WorkCover WA to do baseline and full audiological
testing.
9. We do quick pre-employment hearing screenings as required for pre-employment
medicals. We are also authorized to perform hearing tests
required for various purpose including:
Dive medicals
Pilot testing
Track assess
Speech in noise testing
Call centre operator testing
