1. AUTOMATED POWER FACTOR CONTROL
In today’s world, Power is major concern to the Industry by way of cost and adequacy. The more
efficiently it is used, more the savings. Electricity Board has been stressing not only the industrial
sector, but, also the consumers to minimise the usage of Power and at the same time maintain a
Stable Power System.
Many of the organisations use Power Factory more than the actual requirement and at the end of
the day, pay up for the excess Power too, which is never used by them. This is the cosine of the
phase angle between the Voltage and Amps [current].
It is also expressed as ratio of Actual Power to Apparent Power.

What is Automated Power Factor Control [APFC] ?
Our system is designed such, to perfectly match the user’s Factory/Plant setup and this in turn will
help in achieving the best results and economics. We have a professionally managed team who
conduct the survey, study the customer’s Factory / Plant and later the best solutions available for
them.
To reduce the KVA drawn, the same has to be nullified by introducing an equal and opposite
Capacitive KVAR according to the load pattern, thus OPTIMUM PF is maintained.
Due to increase in reactive power the angle gets larger due to which the power factor vary from 0 to
Unity. This can be either inductive [lagging] or capacitance [Leading].
The Power industries realises the significant benefit from the demand side which is the Power Factor
only. Accordingly, the total cost attributed to low power factor is recovered through the power
factor incentives or KVA based demand charges. The power factor correction reduces the demand
of reactive power drastically, which in turn saves KVAR requirement unity Power Factor. This also
improves voltage regulation and increases the available capacity through the power system without
any additional investment in generating or distributing peak current demand.
How does the APFC work ?
APFC or Automatic Power Factor Control Panels are mainly used for minimising the usage of Power.
Power Factor is measured by ratio of active power to apparent power and it is a key factor in
measuring electrical consumption. Everyone is aware of the increasing demand and also the cost
factor. Therefore it is very important to cut down on the usage of power supply and thereby the
expenditure.
2. APFC Panels come handy in achieving this goal at the same time it plays a major role in those
industries where electrical installations are meant to supply to a huge demand.
The APFC Panels manages the quick change and scattered demand by retaining the high power
factor.
Main features of the System:
Power factor is maintained consistently
Efficiency is High
Protects the excess Power drawn from the system
Easy to use
Long lasting
Mainly protects the electrical equipments for being damaged [from Hormonics]
Minimises the present usage
Adjusts to any step of capacitors according to load variation
Protects the capacitors against high and low voltage
Why maintain the Power Factor ?
By maintaining a unity Power Factor the Power drawn can be reduced, thus reduce the current
passing through the electrical circuits to the maximum extent possible, thereby reducing the
machine down time and increases the life of the electrical circuits.
The State Electricity Boards have installed Digital Electronic Energy Meters for consumers, which has
this provision and also insistto maintain the average Power Factor over and above a specified limit.
This will also reduce the PENALTYlevied on the Energy Consumption Charges (KWh) on the
Electricity Bill. The Electricity Board’s also offers PF incentives if the PF is maintained consistently.
The Power Factor can be maximised drastically by installing our AUTOMATIC POWER FACTOR
CONTROL PANEL.
APFC PANELS FOR WELDING MACHINES
In the case of Welding Machines, to maintain the constant Power Factor, Capacitors should be
introduced while the welding operation is on and disconnect the same during idle conditions to
avoid drawing of more power than required. Provide individual PF Corrector Panel to maintain the
consistent PF.
BENEFITS OF APFC
Avoids Penalty by Electricity Board
Avail Incentives
Minimise the capacity by reducing the demand
Avoid additional charges
Long Life of Electrical circuits
APFC panels are available as low as 15 kvar onwards
