4. Weekly Spelling Tests
Each student takes the weekly spelling test as a
ClassServer assignment. The format is designed to
match the 4th grade TAKS Writing assessment.

5. Students have comprehension questions before them, and the CD
cues them when a question is coming up by saying, “Quick Quiz”.
Students mark their answer in pen and self-check when the
correct answer is given for immediate feedback.

8. • Technology Folders
Each student has a Technology Folder. This folder contains a
grid with the name of each program that is loaded on our
computers. Students choose, load, and record their program
by marking the grid with the date. The same program may
not be repeated more than twice before at least 2 additional
programs are used by the student.

12. In this lesson, students follow hyperlinks to show what they have
learned about the Snowflake Man from Jericho, Vermont.
12
13. Next, we went to the weather website to complete a comparison/
contrast document of the weather in Jericho to the weather in
White Oak.

14. www.popularfront.com/snowdays/
Students followed one hyperlink to a site that allowed them to cut
an online snowflake and add it to the blizzard. We viewed
snowflakes cut by students in Italy and other countries. We
searched White Oak, Texas, and viewed snowflakes cut by other
students in our town.

16. Students Visit our
Elementary Library
We sent out invitations to the Primary and Intermediate
Campuses asking them to come to the Elementary Library to
view a video loop of the first photographs ever taken of
individual snowflakes.

17. Fastt Math
At last year’s TCEA Conference, I was lucky enough to win this
program at one of the sessions. It is being used in our Math Lab
to aid RtI Students with Math Fluency.

18. Mystery Motivator
Technology is an excellent Behavior Management tool as well. I use
Dr. William Jenson’s Mystery Motivator idea from Tough Kids
Toolbox. Not only are students being rewarded, but they are
actually practicing decoding, attention to details, reading
comprehension, vocabulary development, and
multi-meaning words.
