Singapore has 15 reservoirs to store water for future use. NEWater is purified used water that meets WHO standards and is produced at 5 plants, including Bedok, Kranji, Seletar, Ulu Pandan, and Changi. Singapore also imports some water from Johor, Malaysia under agreements that will expire in 2061. Desalination removes salt from water and Singapore opened its first desalination plant in Tuas in 2005 which produces 30 million gallons per day.

4. 2)NEwater NEWater is high-grade reclaimed water produced from treated used water that is purified further using advanced membrane technologies, making the water ultra-clean and safe to drink. NEWater has passed more than 65,000 scientific tests and surpasses World Health Organisation requirements.

7. 4)Desalination Desalination is a processethat remove some amount of salt and other minerals from water. More generally, desalination may also refer to the removal of salts and minerals. In September 2005, Singapore turned on its fourth National Tap, with the opening of the SingSpring Desalination Plant in Tuas. The SingSpring desalination plant was PUB’s first public-private partnership (PPP) project. This plant can produce 30 million gallons of water a day (136, 000 cubic meters) and is one of the region’s largest seawater reverse-osmosis plants.
