be avoided with simple procedures !

Teleophthalmology is a branch of
telemedicine that delivers eye care
through digital medical equipment and
telecommunications technology, which
enables access to eye specialists for
patients in remote areas.
A cataract is a clouding of the lens
inside the eye which leads to a decrease
in vision. It is the most common cause
of blindness and is conventionally
treated with surgery.
Niramaya is committed to stimulate,
sustain and intensify a concerted
research effort, with the goal of
developing preventives, cures and
effective treatments for all diseases of
the visual system that damage and
destroy sight.
For last 10 years, Niramaya has
commemorated National Eye Donor
Month to promote awareness of the
need to donate eyes, to recognize
donors and their families and to
celebrate corneal recipients.

(TERTIARY EYE CARE)
Niramaya has adopted the classic HUB AND SPOKE Model of logistics, in order to reach remote population. The entire
population area is provided Primary Eye Care via various Community Outreach Programs, thus eliminating the need for
the patients to travel. These Outreach Programs in turn gets connected to small sized sectors called “Spokes” where, the
patients can get Secondary Care for certain complex cases. And eventually these “Spokes” are connected to a central
“HUB”, a center of excellence Eye care Hospital.
